  1. Disable auto updates, and then close the launcher via task manager
  2. Spam install a ton, then close the launcher via task manager and it may let you update after that

We all know the game has its quirks, problems, bugs (I mean, features), but in the sea of rants posted in here lately, I'd like to take the time to say :

What an amazing game.

It's my fourth wipe, yet, for the first time, I don't feel lost or unable to progress. I can quest on my own (especially with the help of other voiping players nice enough to not kill me), and have fun with my buddies (by ditching them like a rat when we get in a fight in crackhouse and I can extract my sweet loot in ruaf).

I don't lose all my fights. I'm still highly cautious enough of scavs to not have been terminatored too much.

Every downside of this game is countered by the atmosphere, the mechanics, the complexity, and the game loop.
There,that's it. Back to complaining now.

the idea of a new player experience other than being dropped in the deep end is good but BSG are so addicted to making everything 'hardcore' they didnt actually make any of the necessary concessions for ground zero to work as one

for one it should definitely be optional, right now tutorial zone is full of sweats turbofarming since it's wipe day but i imagine thats less of a problem the west of the wipe
