So, I'm brand new to this game. And I suck.

I've been doing practice runs against SCAVs, and I can usually get at least a few kills, maybe 10 if I'm lucky. But I seem to have no hope whatsoever of exfiling in an actual game, I always get gunned down by another player. My last run was cut short after two of my shotgun blasts in a row were eaten by a railing and the player I tried to ambush turned and domed me. It was a bit frustrating.

Also, buckshot seems really inconsistent at killing, and medical supplies are expensive, so I find myself playing SCAV or going AFK waiting for my merc to auto heal.

Sometimes buckshot kills in one shot, sometimes it does absolutely nothing.

Honestly scaving is how to make money when you are not certain. Find a good route and hit it. 80% of the time you join at the end and pick up the pieces. Factory is where you die a lot to learn combat and movement, not make money

Keep things simple and go in with a single goal: ei I'm going I to customs to get the pocket watch. Don't rush, avoid choke points and try to get a feel for the flow of each map (there are far too many guides out there for me to point to a single one)

The big 3d maps usually mark out stashes and boxes that's you can plan a route between. Bang for buck stashes before they've been hit are a safe way to get a variety of gear and money items

My suggestion would be to pick one of the bigger maps like interchange or reserve to learn a scav loot route on, and build up gear to use on your PMC for quests. Just remember scav weapons are shite and should not be relied on

The ammo you use is king in this game. Does not matter if you have the drop if you are landing hollow point against class 4 chest armour. Read up on ammo so that you always have an idea of what you are capable of with your kit

Recoil is a whole nother discussion right now. I'll just say it varies greatly moving or otherwise. I'd recommend getting comfortable point firing (without ads'ing) up to 30m. Really o Ly aim of you need precision at range

I can point fire at close range, but I can't do tricky shots with it at range. If someone's in partial cover beyond 15m or so, I need to ADS to nail a head or limb shot.

I looted an AK-74U or something similar and was on a good run. I had a couple of SCAV and a player kill, but I tried spraying down another player on my way to exfil and missed every shot at close range. My aim was true, I think the movement threw off my fire. Or maybe I land a shot but he didn't go down.

Its possible he just had lvl 4 armor or something that ate some of my rounds, I'm not really sure.

Likely a mixture of all the things you mentioned. And if it was a scav gun the MOA could have been bad enough the bullets deviated from where you aimed (it's a little over exagerated)

Headset is essential if you are solo, find the one you like that's doesn't blow out your eardrums and get used to it. Chest rig depends on your weapon and armour to run the mags and meds you need. Without armour or a helmet even the best run can be ended by an unlucky shot

They wanted to prevent naked runs with melee weapons that you dont lose and shoving loot into your secure container. You got to bring at least at 10k pistol or 8k double barrel shotgun to prevent marking.

Run throughs are bypassed if you earn at least 600xp I believe which is like 6 items or 1 kill OR wait 7 mins after raid starts before exfil.

You can sell them but only to traders and you cant turn them in for quests or sell on flea market.
