Hey guys. I feel like I’ve read everything I can find on “High Quality Color” ranging back from 2020. Nobody seems to know what it does. It’s not HDR like I thought, and it doesn’t seem to change anything for the better as far as FPS and latency. So what does it actually do?

Okay I appreciate your input, I’ve read many answers regarding this mostly surrounding HDR and I’ve recently acquired an HDR capable monitor which has an on-screen message every time you put a 3D program with HDR on screen. Any game, it always pops up and says HDR is blah blah blah and then the message goes away. In Tarkov regardless of this setting that never happens so it’s definitely not HDR like most of the posts claim. I’ve not heard of chroma subsampling as an answer before though

The game already has a form of 'hdr' regarding dynamic range when you look at bright things and back to dark things

It's not hdr like on a hdr screen but it's more like switching what your eyes do

like being able to see more brights outside and more darks inside

The game does not support real HDR10 or anything like that though

Like to see this in action go to the top of the lookout point on interchange to look at the street from the 2nd floor and look inside and then look outside

is there anything hardware based that compliments one over the other? For example you need tensor cores in an RTX card to enable DLSS for example, and couldn’t do it with a GTX card. Is there a certain parameter or statistic in a card/cpu that would favor running HQC on vs off? I’ve read many posts about stuttering and lagging. I take them with a grain of salt bc who knows if they’re correctly attributing those symptoms to the setting; I myself never notice these things but I don’t like enabling settings unless I fully understand what it is I’m enabling/disabling

Well the textures are 4:4:4 to my knowledge, so there's some CPU or GPU power going on to reduce that to 4:2:0 but there's not much else going on other than that. I believe it's a CPU process. I think the only way this would help a system is if your HDMI cable is not rated for 4k60 and you try to stream this to a monitor that supports that, as 4k60 4:4:4 may not work with some HDMI cables.

DP 1.2 is fine for anything 1440p 165hz or lower

Displayport has way more data than HDMI

If you try 4k at higher than 60p you will have issues

Also, I think 1440p is capped at 120p at DP 1.2

If you have a good enough NVIDIA card, you can download nvidia broadcast, which provides various things such as noise cancelling not only for you but also for others. So say guy1 is drinking really loudly and you have NVIDIA broadcast on, you won’t hear a thing. Also, it’s AI powered so it adapts pretty well.

anyone else have a bug where your gun only fires client side? twice now I have had this bug and obviously died because of it. mag dumped into an ai scav's face, he doesn't die, I run away. dump 2 more mags into a pmc in dorms hallways, then I die instead. score screen shows ZERO DAMAGE and ZERO BULLETS FIRED.
