and run it a couple times in practice mode, until you got an idea of the layout.
And most importantly: Learn how to exfiltrate at the different exits.
The latter broke my neck multiple times now and I wasted a lot of gear and money due to my lack of map/game systems knowledge...

For what a scav is: when you press like the play game button at the top you can choose between scav and pmc, scav is basically like you spawn in as a player scav (the enemies you faced in the tutorial) and you are friendly to all other scavs, but not bosses (until 6.0 fence rep), the guards and bosses will shoot you if you get to close. Never, ever, ever kill any other scavs or player scavs or bosses as a scav. PMCs are fine though, however you might want to learn to extract with them but for now just shoot them. You recognize them through their clothing and pressing F1. if you press f1 you will mumble and if you hear someone press f1/talk on the mic and if they dont mumble back you can shoot them. Also pmcs always have like a hip holster thingy and a lot of them have armbands (scavs cant have armbands)

PMC is your main character basically that you do quests with and all your skills are on

But every time I feel like I’m ready to play PvP I get sent back to the hideout non-stop. My friend’s only advice was “grind arena” but I feel like I’m only getting worse. So if anyone has any suggestions I’m all game.

I die pretty much every time I try to move from one area to another. Always some dude who moved there completely silently to gun me down. For right now I’ve just been sticking to ground zero and customs.

first u need to realise the game is filled with cheaters

second even if u didnt get killed by cheaters, the map designed is such in many maps that if someone knows all spawn well, they can just rush and kill in first 30seconds (aka not newbie friendly)

Two extremely common maps where people know where to look. Just like Megachin700 said, you won't actually learn by playing pve sadly. Two completely different play styles. GZ is just a small vertical map with only two maybe three ways to traverse which you are 100% going to run into 2 to 4 teams on your way. Customs is similar based on where you spawn. Again tho, only really 2 or 3 "safer" routes you can take but people are still going to watch for you because that's part of their "gamesense" . For example in customs if I spawn at big red, then I know there is another team on that part of the map with me and they will either run to big red or to the main area through no man's or one of the bridge's. I can look there and clear it before running myself. But I would also be careful because there is a spawn on the other end by smugglers boat where someone could have spawned if they haven't moved yet ect. Its just knowledge which will come with time

Whenever you play and spawn in, remember where you spawn for future games so if you spawn close next raid, you can remember that there is a spawn nearby you should probably clear

also u can just buy ssh68 steel helmet which also stoops freezing. u can also equip gssh18 headset with it but not most other headsets

ssh68 can be bought for 29k on ragman, is lvl3 and high ricochet chance. love that helmet right now, but would never use if it wasnt for the frostbite

depends what u want to do if ur going for tasks go on any map but for loot i would go reserve out of those u named or interchange
