For all newbies struggling with bulding guns I highly recommend to go to the gun in your inventory and right click and start building it, there will be a special menu with compatible stuff highlighted in green, you can figure out putting scopes way easier than just eyeballing them at the vendors

Clothing is the best way to check, PMC will have pistol holster on their legs and scavs dont, scavs often have brighter colour clothes too

there's a lot of tells, it's also good to tell player and AI scavs apart
ai scavs will move mostly in straight lines and will shout when they see you and usually before they shoot you, they also have scav clothing under their armor and will be worse geared than PMCs, they will also run through bushes a lot, but that can also just be a new player
player scavs will look the same as AI scavs but they won't shout at you when they see you and move normally
PMCs will have PMC clothing and will usually be better geared

If you want to learn the maps you have 2 ingame choices, run many raids where you probably will die, buy a makarov and one'2 extra mags.

Or run things in practice where you will make no in game progress but you have no risk of loosing any progress

Some good places are the med camp on woods, med tent on factory, Emercom extract on ground zero off the top of my head. It’s always one of those things where you can find them for hours and as soon as your done they seem to pop up everywhere

So, I've had two different raids where I had someone I was fighting shoot me, eyes/face, without me seeing them at all despite knowing they were close range and being able to hear them just fine. I am sure they weren't cheating or anything, in both cases they took a while to actually get me (one was a minutes long firefight, the other took a while to find me after I killed their friends), but it's weird that I saw literally nothing at all - no muzzle flash, no rounds flying by, etc. I could hear them shooting, though.

Is that the desync issues I've been hearing about? In both I had the servers jump up to like 180 ping a few times during the raid, so I suspect that's what's up, but I dunno.

I'm just wondering if I should be clearing out higher ping servers to try and keep that from happening or if it's just kind of luck of the draw

Scav queue timers are high because a lot more players want to scav due to early wipe.

Player scavs can only join ongoing raids, which PMCs start. Not only are there less raids going on, but many more scavs are trying to get into those raids. Game isn’t broken, just popular

So if you can put bags in bags or try to carry more on your pmc to sort your stash out you can then sell, otherwise hover over certain items and press the delete key, but you wont get it back. usually with drops or accepting items i will try and clear some space before that

Act accordingly: You wanna fight? Push them. Don´t want a fight? Avoid them, without running into them
