Hey
Only willing to play DND if it has dinosaurs
They do have them indeed. I use them semi often in one of my campaigns, although I think I may be weird for it lol
I only want to do dinosaurs, even got myself a dinosaur theme dungeons and dragon book
well if u DM a game, you certainly can!!!
I have no interest in being the dungeon master mainly because I think it’s boring
ah got ya. well I am going to say, you may have a hard time finding a DM who is only willing to use Dinos but I wish ya luck
Thank you
I also have a digital copy of the book of you ever wanna see it it was written by by actual paleontologist
oh that seems really cool!!! you can DM me about it if u wish
How should I go about playing my first game as a dm (as a dm and as a person)
how do i find a oneshot type voice game on here

?newdm
- In Dungeons & Dragons, one person serves as the Dungeon Master, the game’s lead storyteller and referee. The DM runs the adventure for the players, who navigate its hazards and decide which paths to explore.
- Learn how to be a Dungeon Master with this YouTube video or D&D Beyond article.
- The D&D Free Rules are available at no cost and cover everything you need to know to play.

?dmtips
The most important part of being a good DM is facilitating the fun of everyone at the table. Keep these tips in mind to help things go smoothly:
D&D is about telling a story as a group, so let the players contribute to the outcome through the words and deeds of their characters. If some players are reluctant to speak up, ask them what their characters are doing.
The DM isn’t competing against the player characters. Your job is to referee the rules, run monsters, and keep the story moving.
Treat your players in a fair, impartial manner. The rules help you do this, but you can make your own rulings to ensure everyone is having fun.
Adventures have no prescribed outcome. You can alter any encounter to make it more interesting and fun for your players.
Dungeon Masters are fallible, just like everyone else, and even experienced DMs make mistakes. If you overlook, forget, or misrepresent something, correct yourself and move on. No one expects you to memorize every part of this adventure and all the rules in the Basic Rules. As long as your players are having fun, everything will be just fine.
dang was just about to put that lol thanks Noob. I am starting to remember them lol
what triggers the lfg one?

Imagination, the will to read through rules, and luck mostly
That's great I am great at two of those
Question, I am creating a character who is proficient in simple weapons.
Does she get to add her proficiency bonus (+2) and her dex modifier (+1)?
The weapon is dagger btw, finesse.
Can anyone help me?
Yes to both - proficiency bonus is apllied to anything your character is proficient in. The skill modifier applies to anything that uses that ability score. So a finesse weapon allows you to pick either strength or dexterity to use.
What are you seeking help with?
Learning DND
Thank you!
I’ve always wanted to play dnd, i just cant understand how to olay
Play*
And im also trying to fill out a dnd character sheet
What is it that you are struggling with? Are you in a game, cause there are begining games as well?
I’m also new but so excited to learn 😊

There are several aspects. Character creation, ability scores, proficiency, combat ect. This is a good start. @keen horizon
What do saving throws mean
Hello, new to dnd and was wondering how can I get into a game with people?
Visit #find-a-game for everything you need to start your search, including:
- Instructions for finding a game here on the server (including how to post in our #looking-for channels).
- Suggestions for finding a game outside of this server.
- Basic advice to help you in your hunt.
A saving throw is a kind of D20 Test made to resist certain effects. See here for more info
You're more likely to get into a game if you spend a bit of time becoming familiar with the core game mechanics and how to make and use a character sheet. Check out #learn-to-play and the free basic rules.
Feel free to ask specific questions
Saving throws are a reaction taken to avoid or mitigate damage in situations where a playing is encountering difficult situations.
I'm quoting the Basic Rules directly
I have a dnd character sheet im trying to fill out so what do i put as saving throws?
Those will be dependent on your ability scores
Im confuzzled
In general a saving throw bonus will be equal to:
- The relevant ability score modifier + your proficiency bonus (if proficient)
They are calculated by what you have in your ability scores. Are you using a character builder, paper sheet and pencil?
Paper and pencil
are there any games I can hop into today?
Visit #find-a-game for everything you need to start your search, including:
- Instructions for finding a game here on the server (including how to post in our #looking-for channels).

- Basic advice to help you in your hunt.
I would not expect many games to be organized and ready to go on such short notice as it often takes time and effort to coordinate schedules.
But perhaps one of the D&D servers posting in #looking-for-community may have a one shot or pick-up type D&D game ready to go.
So a person who has a +3 (a 16) in Wisdom and and is level 3 and is proficient would have a a +5 in the Saving throw.
@keen horizon
If they do not have a proficiency their saving throw would be equal to the modifier. In the example I gave above, if they wasn't proficient in Wisdom they would just have a +3 to their d20 die roll.
Thx
That would then make it a +3 only.
Ability scores are generated with 1 of 3 methods. I suggest choosing Point Buy or Standard Array since it's more widely acceptable without DM supervision. See here
The proficiency bonus is determined by the character level to which you would be starting. A DM will usually guide you through character creation as part of a Session 0 after they have explained the world to you and their requirements.@keen horizon
You are welcome.
so i was guna start the first campaign with my people tmrw (lmop), but some 1 suggested i ran a 1 shot first, rn im looking at the delian tomb, but im not sure if its a good one shot...
They are all first time players and i am a first time dm
You could utilize the Dungeon Delves box set.
@runic sparrow
What system are you wanting to run?
Hello
Hello.
Hello anyone staring a campaign
LMoP is a pretty good starting point. I just ran it last year for some of my students but I would recommend that you do a one shot sacrifice of innocence.
It gives you a good introduction and opportunity to let players bond early on.
Also, LMoP is busted for green players. Getting them to level 2 before they start the adventure makes them a chance to survive the first major encounter
Hi guys! I’m pretty new to DND, I just recently got into it two years ago, I started with just a one shot but my DM (who is a friend of mine) eventually found a group and we started playing an in-person campaign.. unfortunately, we all got too busy and so now I’m looking for new people to play with!

What are the ability scores i should have as a bard?
Charisma should be your highest score, as that is also the ability used to make your spells more effective as a bard. Here's a list of suggested ability scores for each class:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/creating-a-character#StandardArraybyClass
Hi, i'm really into storytelling, and want to make a one shot session for my friends who already played dnd before. The problem is that the campaign should be on roll 20 because we live far away from each other. Do you think it will be hard to do? The story part is already covered but im worried that i know very little about dnd mechanics and such. Mostly everything i know is bg3 lol
Also any tips for dming in general would be appreciated
Well, for the mechanics, you can read up on them in the basic rules. There is also a good DM-specific section here that I can recommend:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/the-basics
The link thing is basically assuming that u are using 1 type of score generation
No matter which 1 you choose charisma needs to be your highest score
Constitution and dexterity is also important
You probably won't get anything out of having any streanth
And just put intelligence and wisdom where you want to
Hey as a Dm i tottaly get that figuring out the mechanics of the game can be hard if u have any questions feel free to ask me I've been playing for 8 years now as a DM and as a player
elo is there a channel or anywhere to ask for gm's and or players cuz were looking for an extra person
You can use our #find-a-game to learn how to find players or DMs on this server.
Thanks!
Hi
Welcome!
I’m new to the DND thing, but I’ve always wanted to try it out
Also, is there a certain age for DND?
no real restrictions, but some groups might be 18+.
Why do you ask? (genuine question)
(ofc you dont have to say)
well there is no age restriction
like 6 year olds play dnd
If it’s fine with you, can you teach me how to play?

@rain pagoda this post up here
Read the basic rules watch the videos and any question ask here
(he was talking to me but thanks for the help)]
It’s a public place anyone can help and many voices are better than one
very true
Okay I read it and I think I know what to do now
So first, you make a character before the game and then you explain what your character does to the DM and then you play the game
Did I get it right?
kind of
I’ve watched Legends of adventurous before
add math. A lot of math
But only the cartoons
Thats like the BEST moments they have. Not every game is like a professional show
Oh, I get it
(i assume you mean avantris btw)
Yeah, stupid AutoCorrect
though I like avantris, it is kinda unrealistic. Most are a bit less RP heavy
Yeah, I understand what you mean. The whole toad pervert got me off the hook.
They are also very adult in their content yeah
Yeah, I got that
well, ask any questions you have!
Here’s a question when’s the next new game?
wdym?
if you mean edition there was one last year
We don’t run games here, you can find games in #find-a-game
DnD isn’t like an MMO where you can just drop into a game
Oh ok
also there are games hosted like every moment
though most are over discord if they are posted here
You do have to apply and be accepted
unless you join a public game like spacemarches or if you go to adventurers league
Games are not hosted every minute and I think you mean westmarches
I dont know why i said space😭
they are, just not ready to be joined every minute
Heya I'm new in the server and to dnd I have looked at the #looking-for-players but there is many big words and idk what to look for and if there is a specific person doing a new person's one. I assume dnd 5e one-shot I'd what I'm looking for no?
A one-shot would definitely be one of the best bets. Short, likely one or two session adventure is a great way to get your feet wet 😎
Sometimes people specifically mention its a newcomer game, or that newcomers are welcome, or if its for experienced players only, but often if it isnt mentioned you can just ask. Most people generally don't mind someone being new, as long as they are actually interested and motivated to learn 👍
what words do you not get?
im in the same situation as dr winter, i dont really understand what a homebrew is
Homebrew is just any unofficial creation by players
home-made rules/subclasses etc.
you can make your own subclasses!?!?
You can make anything!
Though it is up to the DM to actually approve the use of any
ofc, you can make your own everything
You can't just make a 1st level spell that kills everything in one hit and expect a reasonable DM to allow you to pick it 😛
(I mean you can make it, but no reasonable DM would actually let that fly lol)
I generally wouldn't recommend trying homebrew if you're new either
thats what i was thinking 😭
i wouldnt either
i see, thank you for answering @main fulcrum @lavish kayak and @edgy onyx , for my first playthrougt id like to play a illusion wizard do you think its good for beginning?
Telling new players a game starts every minute any helpful cause it makes it sound like they can just jump straight in
And yeah also that. Homebrew sounds like a lot of fun, but it's hard to understand what to keep in mind making some without knowledge of the game, and how to balance or word things. Writing anything homebrew is basically same as writing the rules / instructions of it for both the DM and the Player so its clear what they do.
Usually it's GMs that make and approve homebrew, not players
anything can be good for a beginner!
That would be fine if it interests you. Learning a spellcaster is a bit more work but it's doable
true, im just a forever DM
Spellcasters have a bit more complexity than martials, but if you're willing to put in the work then go ahead
thanks to everyone who helped me , now im less confused, ill try t o look for a beginner friendly oneshot campaign to understand how to play
oneshot campaign?
Short campaigns
so a oneshot? or a short campaign?
all i know as of right now is "nat 20 ez"
Yeah, a one shot is basically a short adventure, usually only one or two sessions long, where the party goes on a short quest
Usually unrelated to any longer campaign as a whole
Only thing you need to know. Just say that and your DM will give up
short campaign probally
You can call them a one shot campaign they are normally one 3-4 session
ok i will keep it to my self then XD
Short campaign can be 3 to 6+ sessions
Not like there's an official length for one 😛
Me currently about to run the 6th session of a one shot this weekend that was intended to just be 2 sessions 😂 😭
you can say that just every time you do anything they will give up
hello, so i'm actually new for DnD and I would ask several questions about it is there anyone that I could reach out for it?

you can ping me for questions
can I DM you instead?
So I got some clarity on this. I think you might have been right, or partly at least. They said it was 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Spellcasting Ability Mod (which in this case with my Paladin, was Charisma)
Was that what you meant too?
Well that would be the spell save DC, not your save modifier, which are different things
Your original was kinda unclear and made no reference to spellcasting, so I assumed you meant the save modifiers
Yeah I was unclear too thats why I was confused. He just said it was 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Charisma mod. So I figured since that is what my spellcasting is, thats what they meant
Unless it's Charisma by default? Shoot now I need to ask again🤣
Save modifier is the modifier you add when making a saving throw, your spell save DC is the number your enemies must meet when making a save against your spells
Yeah Spell save DC is 12, which is what my number last night ended up being with the calculation. So maybe that is it and they're just unnecessarily making me count it? I'm not sure. I'll try to find out again
its your spellcasting ability normally
Yeah there's 2 key parts here
Your saving throw modifiers
Your spell save DC (which is what number enemies need to succeed saves, regardless of the type of save you inflict)
The total number for each of your saving throws is simply the ability modifier. If you're proficient in a saving throw, add proficiency. (You'd be proficient in 2 of them by default, check paladins core features)
hi im just joined recently, i wanna ask if those website like dnd beyond or roll20 are necessary to play? im new to dnd

guys do you suggest printing a grid of standard creatures and sticking them on a piece of cut cardboard for beginner level games, if so do you have any premade ones?
what was the announcment thing for lmao
First game I was using a printed map with grid and used some old dragon toys and bakugans XD
Despite clerics being primarily focused on healing, do they primarily do damage with weapons or spells?
You can have a melee cleric, but I think I've mainly seen them rely on spells for damage, though clerics don't have as many options for that as other classes.
Clerics are not primarily focused on healing. They have more healing than most other classes, but its typically not their primary focus. They will most often be dealing damage with spells, or using other utility effects such as buffs or crowd control
Clerics have a somewhat small selection of spells that do damage, but the ones they do have are some of the strongest in the game
Hellooo im new to this kind of games i started with making a sheet about my Warlock that i asked locals to help me

Oh thank you mr.alfiz
@lavish kayak can i get figures/miniatures from stores or i only 3d print them
Is it better to buy the new or old books as a beginner? If anyone knows
both
newer are better for beginners
Oh cause im searching from Archvillain games and im like they dont look like that at all
Cause like they have to look identical?
And sorry for the multiple pings
Archvillain games?
oh its like a database
Its some guys that r based in greece (where i live) and if i use miniatures from them r forbidden

That is a discord feature called "Server Tags." You can set it up in your discord profile settings
be a moderator on this server
Only the moderators can have that role color
and its only for this server
how can i be a mod?
This server will occasionally put out applications for moderators, or reach out to especially friendly and helpful community members, but they are not always looking for new mods. Directly asking for the position is generally frowned upon
Blue and Green are available for all server members, and purple is available if you use Discord Nitro to boost the server (paid)
Hey so I’m making a character and I’m currently on background but uh, idk what it means by faith(sorry if it’s like very obvious or if I’m over thinking it and uh..sorry if I’m putting this in the wrong channel)
It's what religion/god(s) your character follows. Until you have a group, you can leave it blank for now since it doesn't change the mechanics of the game any.
Faith doesn't have any mechanical effect. Its just a role play prompt to get you thinking about your character and their life/history. Are they religious? If they are, which god or gods do they prefer to worship? This is typically something you should fill in after you join a campaign and learn what world you'll be playing in, because different settings will have different gods
Thank you!
I know that D&D Heroes of the Borderland and Borderlands 4 are linked... I just can't prove it
That detective from Dexter (Can't put the gif or upload the image)
It definitely is a funny coincidence. My first thought was also that it might be some sort of crossover
But is it?
no
No, not actually. Its just a coincidence
Probably not but it would be interesting
wait now im wondering who is the newest mod?
(wrong ping sorry)
I doubt that’s information that the mod team would be comfortable sharing, but you can ask questions about the server moderation policies and decisions in #moderator-support
Alfiz can you solve my question if its easy for you?
what question?
.
why would it be forbidden?
Cause warlocks don't look identical and im just curious 😔
well are they for sale?
Yep as STL or ready to paint
then if you buy them it isnt illegal
YOOOHOOO THANK YOUUU
any other questions anyone?
helloo ive just started dnd and i was in a party but the dm wasnt very kind and a toxic dm XD i was sadly kicked from my party due to not being a very good player and being quite a slow learner and them having no patience for me, i sort of get the concept but theres so so so much i need to learn it would be a blessing if anyone could help me out while i learn so i can finally join a party and enjoy this game i love sm😭 🙏

def been asked before but where do i find an online party ?
thank you!!
Update: I ran the one shot, we only have 1.5 hours per session but we meet every other weekday…
TS WAS SO BAD, literally the most adhd people, I don’t know what I expected tbh, so chaotic and no one listening, constant talking, almost crashed out
Genuinely so bad
We only got 1/2 a page into the campaign
Sorry your first experience was bad
Yeah, first time dming did not go good
Not sure if you did, but a Session 0 to establish rules and expected behavior can do wonders for curbing bad behavior
They mostly just don’t know how to play dnd or something, or just never seen people talk with respect for one another
Yeah sounds like a Session 0 would be helpful in the future. Otherwise, sometimes friends aren't great "D&D" friends so to speak. The game isn't everyone's cup of tea, unfortunately
Agreed I have a hard time finding the right people to vibe with or even looking out for people to even join

Hello! Is there anyone here making a new world or has one with new comers?
I’m on the same page^
How long have you played
I only played a few small games last year
Would you want to help some new comers? @ashen kestrel And me to learn the mechanics and stuff? Or join us in learning haha
I can’t wait to see what Jujus gonna say. Been thong for a min haha
Good day everyone! I'm sort of new/ish, played before the 2024 rules. I've been trying to understand fighter and the new mechanics, mostly around swapping weapons quickly. I understand that you can now stow/ready a weapon as part of an attack action, but the thrown property states that "If a weapon has the Thrown property, you can throw the weapon to make a ranged attack, and you can draw that weapon as part of the attack." so i was afraid I had missed something
I haven't played in so long I don't remember how to
I'd be happy to help. What could go wrong with the blind leading the blind?
No worries haha

What type of help are you looking for?
I’m a brand new player ….
Anything in specific that you're struggling with?
I’m going to watch some vids and get a better grasp
No nothing specific. Just willing to learn and make some new friends haha dnd has always been a game I wanted to play but my friends aren’t as nerdy as me haha
That's a great place to start 🙂 You can also check out the Free Basic Rules in the bot post above. Feel free to ask any questions that come up while you watch/read
Thank you! I like this community already. Everyone honestly seem genuine haha
@ashen kestrel Would you wanna join my server and we can mess around with the bot in there and see how far we can get? Haha
By the way @plucky ridge could I ask you to take a look at this question, since you're offering to help?
Sure, if I don't know, I know someone who does
@limber yacht you can also come and mess around with the bot and teach us what you know if you want
I don't mind
Which bot
Awesome. You’re the man. I’ll add you and send the inv!
I have 0 idea
It seemed to be. It’s the one that works with the Beyond website I think
@limber yacht added you fam
Really sorry, I'm not totally up to date on 2024 rules. The #rules channel should be able to offer some clarity though!

I'm very new and I have never play dnd but I have watch dnd in YouTube and I would like to play cause I love to RP but i don't have time cause I'm in college and don't have time to learn the rules to play and i know when you play dnd you will play for like 2hr or more? Idk how long u guys play but I cannot play that long but I really do want to play
Maybe some short one shots here and there if you’re worried about time?
same problem here, is there any way I can play with a short session? I already made a character in DnD beyond
2 hours seems like a reasonable short amount of time. I’m sure you could find people willing to play for less.
Two hours is certainly a little short when compared to most games. It's not impossible to find a game that runs two or less hours, but it's definitely going to be a longer search. As a DM, there's not too much you can get done in just two hours without feeling like you're rushing through content, when it comes to running a game.
You can join me and acouple other new guys in my server if you want. We’re all either brand new like me or semi familiar
What’s an average game time?
Most games tend to run from 3-4 hours on average.
i wish i could play dnd with somebody damn
Hello all
This server tries to keep its group searching on its Looking For Group channels. If you're having trouble getting into a game, looking over your options in #find-a-game can help.
I don't like that place
Sounds like imma be busy on Saturday nights haha
I’m getting a group together. You’re more than welcome to we just need a couple people who do know what they’re doing and are patient with new people haha
i have no idea what im doing
Same hahahah
i have never played
We’re in the same boat. I’m watching some videos to get a general idea but we deff need 2 or 3 people maybe that can assist us
perhaps
Care if I add you so if you decide to you can message me?

Starting off by reading through the basic rules while you're searching and setting up can be a big help. The more you know, the easier it is to get into a game. You can find the free basic rules in the bot post above.
is there smth i should know tho? i know a player needs a character sheet and dice, is that not everything?
Thank you! I added the dnd bot to my server and did the tutorial so I can understand mechanics. But now I need to learn about the game haha
The basics a player needs is:
- An understanding of the rules
- A way to roll dice
- A character sheet
- Some buddies
Is there any rules or specifics you’d focus on learning first?
the dm can't be the one to know the rules and thats it?
The most important thing that's recommended for new players to learn are
- What d20 tests are
- How to put their character sheet together
- What their characters abilities are
- What their characters can do on their turn in combat
I just wanna nerd out and enjoy the game already 😭😭😂😂
@timid locust would you be okay with me adding you so i can ask you questions or bounce ideas off you?
It's usually considered disrespectful to put the responsibility for teaching how the game works entirely on the DM.
Not only are you forcing the DM (who is already going out of their way to run the game for you) to take up the extra work of being a teacher, the rest of the players have also set aside time to play, which is being wasted if everyone has to wait for an explanation of how the rules work
Fair
what rules even r there if its js roleplay tho
they describe a scenario, u do an action, and possibly roll a dice
Apologies, but I don't take direct friend requests. You're more than welcome to message me here in this chat if you see me around, or @ me, but I'm not usually on this late at night. I'm usually frequenting the server starting <t:1758031213:t>.
No worries! Why I ask haha but thank you. I’ll keep you in mind!
Haha, apologies if this seems rude, but Dungeons and Dragons is quite literally just a set of rules. It's not free form roleplay.
You can find a free link to the rules here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024
ik its not exactly free roam, but it mostly is, with rules that set a foundation
if it wasn't free roam like it is, no one would play it
Dungeons and Dragons is a set of rules that dictate what you can and can't do in the worlds that you're role-playing in. For example, of course you can say
"I'll sneak past the guards by pretending to be a fancy noble who belongs in the castle!"
But unlike free form roleplay where you and the other people involved just decide what happens from that point on, DnD gives you a set of rules on how to resolve that scene.
You might be asked by the DM to make a Deception check or a Stealth check. The DM might ask if you've bought a set of Fine Clothes, which is an item from the adventuring equipment list, or if you have Proficiency with a Disguise Kit.
Hi everyone
I’ve always thought D&D seemed really cool, and I’m super eager to learn how to play, but I don’t have any friends in real life who play. I’m not worried about being newI’m happy to start from scratch and learn as I go. Does anyone have tips on how to get started, or know of groups/ways to join a game online for beginners?

Welcome! The best place to start is with the free Basic Rules, linked in the bot post above. As you're giving them a read, we'll be happy to answer any specific questions you have here in this chat.
You can join me and a few other new players and we can learn together if you’d like
Im down
Awesome! I’ll add you and shoot you an invite to my server. You should mess around and do the tutorial with the avrae bot. It gave me some good insight
alr i read a good amount of it now
yeah exactly, I didn't mean you say something and it happens, i meant that you CAN do anything, theoretically ya know?
You can make any choices you want when it comes to social scenarios, but the actual mechanics of the game are pretty reliant on rules.
Here's a good example of the difference:
"I know we've been working with the town Mayor for a week now, but I suddenly don't trust him. Let's leave, and go investigate this murder without the mayor or the town guards watching our every move!"
This is a a valid social decision that might not be expected! Maybe it'll result in some interesting outcomes.
However...
"To avoid getting caught, I'm going to activate my secret flight power, and I'll just fly to the roof."
"Aren't you an elf? How are you flying?"
"It's part of my backstory. I was cursed as a child and got special powers."
This isn'tsomething that DnD allows. Your character is only capable of doing things that their class, species, and background allow.
i know that 😭
u keep misunderstanding me
and i get that bc im a stranger
but trust me, i understand
Haha apologies. The phrase "you can do anything in DnD" gets thrown around a lot, which is a DMs nightmare
true i suppose, i meant more like, you can explore the world and interact with it
which is very cool
btw, in my character creation thingy, are there any limits? bc i made myself have many magical rings and stuff, seems op no?
Exactly, you're not bound by the constraints that something like a video game imposes on you when it comes to decision making.
I didn't see any limit on what i could have
Unless the DM specifically tells you to, a character doesn't start with any magic items. Your starting items are dictated by your background and class.
You can follow the step by step character creation guide in the free rules.
You’re asking the right questions. This is very informative
A character building website gives you the option to add extra stuff because it doesn't know what your DM has allowed, so it gives you everything by default.
Your background is picked from a list. Here are the free ones:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/character-origins#BackgroundDescriptions
A background is a set of mechanical benefits and items. You don't need to stick with the literal definition that they give, however.
For example, a gladiator, a hunter, or even a bodyguard could all take the Soldier background and have it fit perfectly.
im a sage human :)
Great! Two out of the three big choices made! Now you need to pick a class you like.
Not necessarily. The sage background gives you a few mental bonuses, the ability to choose a spell to cast for free once a day from a list, and some items. It's flavored as a researcher of magic.
Hello everyone, I'm new here.
A sorcerer is a person who has magic innately in their body. Maybe it's hereditary from a magical parent or ancestor, or maybe they were exposed to a magic item or event that granted them powers.
yee
It's a pleasure to meet you guys. I'm new to the whole dnd stuff thanks to my best friend who recommend me to play it
welcome
Thank you 😁
If you're new and wanting to learn how to play, the Basic Rules on DnDB and the PHB (especially the 2024 IMO) are amazing resources. I'm new myself just a little over a month in, and those have been immensely helpful, as had just toying around with character creation on DnDB. It guides you the entire way.
This discord has an extremely helpful community (speaking from recent experience alone), but it would go a massively long way if you try to learn it as well with resources available. Don't rely strictly, on the DM to teach you from the ground up mid game. Come in with a general idea and come in at a lvl 1 in a level appropriate game so you can learn the ropes. I have been finding most tables running Tier 1 have been great at helping new players because they're expecting new players to come in. But try to learn some of the game before jumping in. I promise it's worth the effort.
okay! ive been researchingf dnd for awhile and made a character on beyond and also just finshed my first one shot with a phenomal teacher, so i have a question lol. what if i just want to play this game whenever i want sometimes....like any other game i guess lol, like is there a place to just jump in and out?
It's hard to do that "drop-in drop-out" gameplay like you would with an online video game. I'd say there are a few approaches to that style you could use if you wanted to do D&D whenever:
- Westmarch Servers. These are large, often multi-DM servers with an even larger player base. Usually there's some interconnected storyline, and DMs post upcoming sessions for any available player to join.
- Play-By-Post. These are text-based games that are asynchronous. It allows everyone to post their actions when they're able to, but as a result it tends to move slower.
- Baldur's Gate 3. This is a 2023 video game that uses a modified version of the 5e ruleset for its mechanics. You can play solo or with friends, and you can play whenever you want.
I would also check locally at your local game shops to see if they run and Adventures League sessions. If you're not sure what that is, look it up and also check out #adventurers-league
What was the one where u could find players for a group
real dnd is basically impossible in short time limits, but try plating bg3 with friends for an alternative

Let me check my schedule cause I have assignment for like everyday but it's not but it's like every two days that there is assignment
Hi team!
I didn't play a game yet (new new person), I just bought the rule book and I am confused on how shilelagh works in combat?
I created my first character (a rogue high elf) and I have 1 club and one dagger.
From what I understand, I have sneak attack on my first hit per turn (assuming I have advantage, which I can get from my lvl 1 spell Faerie Fire before combat. BTW side question: do I need to buy a consumable scroll lvl 1 to cast it?).
with the passive ability nick and 2 weapon fighting, i udnerstand i can go 2 attacks + 1 bonus
So i do throw a dice to see if I hit with my dagger, then if success damage with sneak attack= 1d6+1d4+4, then I can go again with the club with shillelagh and if success 1d8+3 dmg and then... Can I also do the catnip truestrike at the same time? And finally, what can I do to optimize for my bonus action?
Sorry, not really sure what I am doing yet.
im not 100% sure but i believe there are 3 bonus actions here, and you dont nees the scroll
If you use your attack action, you can’t then attack again
That includes using cantrips
You can either cast (magic action) OR attack
if you dont want to consume spell slots
And to optimise your bonus action, rogues are able to hide, dash or dodge at lvl2
Nick (Dagger)
Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. This extra attack can only be made once per turn.
Two-Weapon Fighting
When you take the Attack action on your turn and attack with a Light weapon, you can make one extra attack as a Bonus Action later on the same turn. That extra attack must be made with a different Light weapon,
The extra attack can only be a regular attack, if that is what you’re asking
This is referring to the same attack as the Nick
so 2 attacks + bonus?
just 2 attacks
No bonus attack
The bonus attack here is fused with your attack action because of the Nick property
And btw you can’t sneak attack with the club, so Shillelagh is useless here
ok, so Attack dagger, then attack club (without ability modifier) then bonus?
I can sneak with the dagger, then shillelagh with the club?
No, as the rogue only gets one attack per attack action, not including the Nick property attack
You cannot attack with the club in this instance, as the Nick property can only be done with the same weapon
Also, if I may ask, why are you using a club?
Nick says I can use any light weapon, no?
Oh…
Well, I wanted to do second attack light weapon club with shillelagh
You may actually be right
But you’d need to use a spell scroll (not cheap) to even use shillelagh
(2 hand fighter combat)
Actually this looks right
I have it in my lvl 1 build
2 attacks with dagger, one with the club
I have shillelagh in my background Guide
Thing is, you can’t sneak attack with any Shillelagh weapon
because I get much more dmg with the club and shilalagh
I don't know, I never played yet, jsut reading the book and trying to get my head around all this
Ah. Your dexterity isn’t as high
Oh. Im sorry if im overwhelming you.
I just like asking questions
Hmmm
so i don't need actions to activate shilellah?
and I don't need catnip scrolls either?
Oh you can’t even use Shillelagh
why?
Rogues can’t cast spells
But I hve it
A Spell Scroll bears the words of a single spell, written in a mystical cipher. If the spell is on your spell list, you can read the scroll and cast its spell without Material components. Otherwise, the scroll is unintelligible
Wait were you talking about spell scrolls?
OH YOU HAVE IT CUZ UR AN ELF
MY BAD
No it’s my mistake I think?
I shared my character that I built with the D&D beyiond builder. So I assume there isn't mistakles
hey listen you had correct interpretation and me and nugget were wrong😭
Btw past me is right you only get the two attacks
on the character sheet i shared
No, there can only be one two hand fighting attack per turn
But they were right regarding the Shillelagh
about the spells part, attacks can only be 2
It's weird, Im looking for a new DND group and all I can find are ones for adults, nobody is hosting ones for teenagers
i have seen plenty games for younger people
What I am trying to say is 1 attack is dagger + sneak dmg. Attack 2: club shillelagh. then I have a bonus action
You’re right so far
And from what NuggetN said, I don't even need a scroll it's automatic shillelagh
Inwould invite you for my campaign but i just got the last player😭
But you can’t rlly use your bonus action
its not automatic
It’s not, but they automatically have it
I think they took it from elf
Or some other way. Either way, Shillelagh only lasts for a minute
that is true
I will one shot everything lvl 1 xD
Nad it takes 1 bonus action to cast
no you wont
oh
Sorry to burst your bubble, but no
It’s good damage, not one shot
most enemies have plenty more HP even at level 1
ahaha
Also you don’t add your damage modifier to the Shillelagh hit
heck an easy fight at level 1 has 23 hp for example
okay
(at least one of them)
Unless you have the feat
what feat?
The Two-Weapon-Fighting fighting style
I have that
Does that mean I can do: Dagger + sneak, then club hit, then bonus action shillelagh?
Wait how
How do u have that feat
That’s only available at lvl 4 or earlier for fighters and some other classes, but not rogue
origin probably
Yes
Or no
someone probably told them you get a feat at level 1
Sorry no bonus action attack
That sounds plausible
it's shillelagh. it says on the rule that i can cast as bonus action
Usually you cast that before
If that’s what you meant, then yes
I thought you meant a Shillelagh ATTACK
I am figuring it out as I write. I thought that oo first
Btw you should use that bonus action BEFORE your action
isn't the bonus after?
whatever order you want
Not necessarily
okay, I do it after.
Usually most classes use it after, but the rules say whatever order you wish
well then you dont get the bonus
You should do it before so you can use your spellcasting modifier instead of strength
You’d effectively hit someone, and THEN enchant. Doesn’t really make sense
Yup
yes, thats what it says
can I do that precombat?
Where??
it only lasts a minute
No worries
*10 turns
thats a minute
Hey I don’t know if this is allowed if not please delete but I’m looking for a dnd game wich played on discord if any one has room for one more I ain’t seasoned but I ain’t new I’m in the middle ish
Yes, but Shillelagh doesn’t last long

Ah thank you
Okay, so I could: precast shillelagh and Fairy fire==> go to combat dagger + sneak, club smash, recast shillelagh for next round
He?
Shillelagh lasts for a minute, you don’t have to recast it. If it runs out you probably don’t have enough spell slots to recast.
I can't just cast it every turn?
Theoretically if you have the spell slots, but you don’t
Okay, I don't know what a spell slot is
You familiar with mana?
from other games, yes
Good.
Basically spell slots are mana, but for a specific level “power” of spell.
You only get ONE cast per rest
Other classes get more, but origins can only get you so far
"Greetings, traveler!"
Step into the spellbound sanctuary of Dungeons & Dragons, where daring deeds and delightful disasters dance together in stories shaped by your imagination.
Here, dungeons aren’t just dusty corridors — they’re doorways to discovery. Dragons aren’t only fearsome foes — they’re fiery friends, fearsome foodies, and sometimes financial advisors with very large treasure chests. Heroes stumble, villains mumble, and somewhere in between, the bard is still tuning their lute… badly.
In this realm, courage comes in curious colors: rogues with razor-sharp wit, druids debating with daisies, sorcerers summoning sparks (and sandwiches), and paladins proudly preaching peace while polishing pastry crumbs off their armor. Every choice is a chance, every slip a story, every laugh a legendary critical giggle.
But the true treasure, traveler, is not in gold or glory — it’s in the gathering: the shared grins, the inside jokes, the tales told and retold until they shine brighter than any magic item. Dungeons & Dragons is less about rolling dice than about rolling with whatever happens next.
So tighten your boots, sharpen your sense of humor, and step boldly into this brilliant blend of fantasy and folly. For here, in this game of dragons and daydreams, the adventure doesn’t just begin — it belongs to you.

Sorry for the confusion I made earlier lol
Ahah, no worries. Add it too the pile of confusion for someone just opening the book for the first time 🤯
Regarding Shillelagh
You cast it as a bonus action on your club or staff and the effects lasts for 1 minutes or 10 rounds. There is no benefit to casting it again in that timeframe.
The spell is also a cantrip (aka a Level 0 spell) and doesn’t cost any spell slots to cast
oh ok, good to know! thanks for the clarification!
hey where can i create my charater couse i was watching a video and i can't find a race i whanted
in the dnd beyond
Shillelagh is a cantrip so no spell slots required
what race?
Hey yall!
Not all content is freely available, so you would either need to purchse the book it's in or be in a game with content sharing so you have access.

d (number) means (number) sided dice
Oh thank you
The format is XdY where x is the number of dice you need to roll and Y is the number of sides on the dice
So 2d6 would be two six sided dice.
Ok
And btw I briefly read the link
So what do I do now because I want to play dnd as fast as possible so i can caste fireball
But seriously what do I do?

Oh ok
and after that you can find a group
Ok thank you
you of course dont need to know all the rules but a basic understanding is needed
in the mean time, start thinking about a character idea
back story?
I didn't mean the mechanical part, I meant the actual character part, ya know? Who are they? What do they like?
Yea I did
why are they out here instead of pondering their orb at home and watching wizflix
type shit
Wizflix haha ok I will go read the rules
hello, can someone please help me understand the dnd rulebook?
Ask your questions and folks will answer as they're able! If you're hoping for a full walkthrough, that's less likely.

@sage schooner Read this^
I'd recommend the very first chapter, Playing The Game.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/playing-the-game
okay, thanks
Just the goat. How many times a day do you say this you think? Haha
Gotchu!
More than you might expect
in the rule book it says that you roll a d20 when the outcome of an action is uncertain, what does that mean?
You know I might expect more than you think hahaha so far since last night I’d say about 8 times for 5 people hahahaha
you roll when it wouldnt be either an easy task or way too hard
Let's take an example. If you say
"I'd like to pick up the chair and move it in front of the door to block someone from coming in."
Then moving a chair isn't something with an uncertain outcome. It's easy to move a chair. There's no need to roll any dice, your character just does it.
But if you were to say
I throw the keys up to my buddy who's looking out the third story window.
That's not so easy! You might miss. Therefore, the DM might ask you to roll dice to determine if you're successful in your aim.
so its basically up to the DM to determine?
Wizflix is hilarious 💀💀
Sometimes. If the DM is running a particular pre-written adventure, it might explicitly say "If a player wants to throw the keys into the third floor, they'll have to make a DC12 Acrobatics check." For example.
or wizney plus
Why are these so funny to me 😭😭
Hi
I think my sense of humor is broken
Armor Class (AC) and Difficulty Class (DC) are similar concepts, but are used in different scenarios. They're both set numbers that a character has to beat to achieve something when making a d20 check.
AC is used when a character is making an Attack roll. If the Attack roll meets or beats the AC number, it is successful.
DC is used when a character is making a Saving Throw roll or an Ability Check roll. Same as above, if their roll meets or beats the DC, they have succeeded.
the same basically
same as?
saving throws
"DC is used when a character is making a Saving Throw roll or an Ability Check roll. Same as above, if their roll meets or beats the DC, they have succeeded."
ok thanks
Hello
I just dont know which of my characters I want to use, and what role I should assign them, its alot, and its a bit overwhelming, but in a very exciting way haha
Hello!
hello!
How are you guys ?
Hey guys you’re not supposed to be soliciting folks to games and servers in this channel. You’re supposed to follow the instructions in #find-a-game
Please keep any game soliciting/organizing to direct messages or use the Looking For Game channels (see #find-a-game for info on how to use those channels). Organizing games outside of the LFG channels is off-topic.
Heeey, been stalking the server for what feel like an eternity and still don't really have a clue how to do anything. Anyone still need a complete noob?

Honestly never even saw these before, gotta take a look at those
Me blind lmao
Hey, I’ve just joined, I’ve got a character sheet on Roll20 and I’ve played some Baldurs Gate 3, if anyone’s interested in classic DND 5E? Would love to connect with folks who wanna get a game started
@junior flame I think I’ve got it figured out, though some practice would be good, I’m familiar with saving throws and I’ve set my character up to be pretty similar to my BG3 build
Honestly, from what I’ve seen, BG3 (even though it’s a much simpler version of DND and misses out some more advanced features) is a great baseline to get started, it helps you figure out your character type, what race you align with the most and what your playstyle is
Let’s steer back toward dnd, do you need any help
The lfg bot?
Avrae has their own discord might be an idea to ask there
#ddb-avrae-help might have some info but the actual avrae discord would know more
how can I find a campaign being a new player?

Do you guys have one just for new people explicitly ?
Like with little to no knowledge
There are some new player friendly games posted in the channel, including ones specifically for new players. You can always use the Discord search function in that channel to find 'New players' or 'newbie' so on friendly games.
But even if a game isn't explicitly for new players, doesn't mean it won't accept new players.
Always worth checking out posts that seem interesting and getting in contact with the DM and being honest about your experience with playing.
Im gonna start my first campain with my friends next week. However, basically only me and the dm know a thing about dnd. And i have a habit of metamancing, kinda, even when not trying to. How to not f it up ?
Ask yourself, "Would my character know this?" Or better still, ask the DM. If not, don't proceed as if you know!
Also, try to keep the fun of the whole table in mind, including the DM's, rather than focusing on winning.
Also all the other problems when guy who knows dnd plays with guy who doesn't (backseating, taking too much space, ect...)
Involve the other players. Ask them point blank what they think. Let silence happen.
I'll try not to, but it might slip out ngl
The DM can and should also rotate the spotlight. "We haven't heard from X in a while." And maybe you get shut down occasionally as a result. Accept this gracefully.
Im basically in a weird spot : this is my first actual game, but i've been in this (at least from afar) when the 2024 rules came out (holy **** that was almost a year ago)
Result : i've watched way too much dnd vids for my own good lmao
I think i'll play a bard or a cleric. I'll be the support of the group so they can do their stuff.
Also make social interactions easier if barb but eh, it's a bonus
hello im new here i havent played dnd since i was a freshman in high school my life got in the wa and im just looking for a group or few people to join

Heya. Sorry for bothering, but I'm struggling to understand the difference between "known spells" and "prepared spells".
Which class?
I know you can swap them out depending on your class, but I don't know how to determine how many you know as a base and when you get more
Wizard, for example.
So for wizards, you start off knowing 7 spells and gain more every level
And you can prepare up to four
Cantrips don't need to be prepared, you just know them all the time.
A wizard's spellbook has no limit, so while they don't use the "known spells" language, they have a huge pool to prepare a smaller number of. A level 1 wizard has six spells in their spellbook, but can only prepare four. So they have to pick four of those six to have as available to cast.
Druids, for example, have access to their full spell list up to their appropriate level, but they can only prepare a smaller number. Like you have more clothes in your closet than you can carry in your luggage.
Hmm gotcha, gotcha. That makes sense. So every level you can learn whatever spell as a wizard, and your limitation is your spell slots
Sorry, two every level
Spell slots and how many you can prepare does limit what's on hand, essentially.

The bot post above has some general advice and it tells you how to use the server's Looking for Game/Group channels. I included some advice in my guide for finding groups, which also has a bunch of other avenues to check out: https://docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/1rjwuod1lNBM5n4X_TH2ZoqTULv53jWaVMXtrzKVboms/edit?usp=sharing
Thanks
Yeah. Once you get your subclass, if it’s one centered on a specific school like Evoker, it also adds a learned spell of a certain type each level you put into it. Evocation gets an additional Evocation spell learned.
That's so many spells, it must be so bothersome to keep track of everything.
Thank you, however.
I wanted to make an eldritch knight, so I won't have that many spells to play with
It'll be much easier to keep track of
I mean, on D&D Beyond, it distinguishes learned spells from prepared spells, and the prepared spells can only be selected based on the learned spells you chose. As long as you remember to add 2 spells of any type and 1 of the subclass you're in every time you level up, it's fairly easy to adjust.
One of a wizard's greatest strengths is that it has the luxury of so many to prepare as needed for any occasion.
Most folks would discourage newbies from playing wizard generally because of their access to spells. Not that you need to memorize them, but having a grasp of what they do can help.
Eldritch knights have better survivability, which is nice. But you only get a little magic, which can be good or bad depending on what you want out of play.
I wanted to have a lot of versatility. I wanted to have a tool for most things. So fighter is really good at that. And then I thought I could use some magic too
So I'd need my three biggest stats to be strength, dex and intelligence
Every class wants CON.
Except me
Yeah, you want a bit of everything, of course.
Arcane trickster Rogue
Wait is my paladin build ok
Well, most don't really need both STR and DEX. They just prioritize one or the other to make themselves more exceptional in the weapons they primarily wield.
#character-discussion would be the place to ask.
still need con
Thanks new to the server as you can tell
For martials, it's usually STR or DEX, followed by CON or whichever other they want to excel in like CHA, WIS, or INT. An Eldritch Knight generally wants STR/DEX, CON, and INT.
I wanted to do dex too and use medium armor, but I agree that it's spreading myself too thin, specially with access to heavy armor
Heavy Armor needs 14 STR unless you get lucky and find some Mithral.
So if you're a heavy armor EK, then STR, INT, CON.
If not, then DEX, INT, CON.
I've got 15s in DEX, INT and CHA, my racial boost made my STR 16, and CON and WIS are my two lowest stats at 12
im not saying you HAVE, im saying you WANT
Well, they do have a little.
true
Ohhhh. Yeah, that's true. I may be kind of badass rn, seeing as I'm just starting as an Arcane Trickster lvl 3, but yeah, everyone in my group is saying I am a squishy with AC 13
CON doesnt do ac
I know, I'm saying I'm squishy cuz I have an armor class of 13 and Constitution of 12
I think that 15 spread is really messing you up. You want an even number to raise the modifier.
ah, you meant that together
yes, that does f up the build a bit
As a rogue, you get cushioning later in skill checks because of Reliable Talent, so it's not really needed to raise your CHA that high.
Okay, but because of several things with my character, I have proficiency in seven skills, which makes most of the stuff beneficial to rogues at least +4
If anything, it should be high DEX, INT, and CON, with at least 10 WIS (because you're begging to be bullied by spells if not), and then some CHA if you're insistent on engaging with others.
Arcane Trickster has the luxury of spells to cushion any skills they may struggle in, so it's not as dependent on just ability scores for anything beyond the most important scores.
I know, which is why the first fight I was in against a telekinetic city guard, I used combinations of Mage hand, minor illusion and Silent image to not only narrowly escape, but even though he managed to hold me down with his telekinesis several times, he was never actually able to physically touch me. And I managed to lose the other City guards that chased after me with a body double illusion from minor illusion/silent image combination.
And I managed to get away with a third of the slice of pork roast I had been trying to nab. Sadly, the other 2/3 broke away and were taken by the city guard, but I still managed to make off with a decent meal ☺️
We got into a magic battle over it where he was trying to take it with his telekinesis and I was trying to bring it back with my Mage hand. Surprisingly, even though I knew it probably wasn't going to work, it did slow it down enough for me to jump at it and rip off some to run away with

guys question
is it ok if I used AI to create the look of my character? or is it prohibited
At your own table, you can use what you like. But we dont allow the sharing of AI on this server or on d&d beyond character sheets.
For reference
I used to play still know how just forgot little thing (ex: how to make characters) used to play a year back could someone catch me up?
I see, ty
what do you need help catching up with?
Sure, I mean, just ask any particular questions that you have.
I know what the classes are but what are some of them and explain them maybe?
Mainly the spell ones?
Well there's a few. There's the Wizard, the Cleric, the Warlock
Different types of caster who obtain their powers from different places. And therefore focus on different things.
Wizards use study and the power of the arcane.
Clerics serve a deity and use their power
Warlocks get their magic from having a supernatural sugar daddy.
There's a list for each spell, but yeah. They each use a different stat for it, and can access different spells (with some overlap). Wizards use their inteligence since it's based on study, Clerics use their wisdom since it's based on religious lore and Warlocks use their charisma, since it's based on rizzing up your pact entity for power.
In essence, the limitant factor for most spellcasters is their spell slots, which different classes get more or less of.
I’m guessing people don’t like warlocks? lol
Okay
Ehhhh Depends.
If you serve the annahilator god of evil and destruction that wants to kill everyone
probably people aren't going to like that
How do you determine prof. Bonus?
It depends on the character's level. The higher the level, the higher the bonus. There are several tables that tell you how much it is.
HAI
sooo
I'm completely new to DnD
i have no idea how to start getting into it

I’m a first time dm and my party keeps getting freaky instead of doing the story, and also they keep getting into conversations for like 30 minutes of some school drama. How do I fix
Are they role playing or just talking about things out of character?
hey
Sup I'm new here and I have no idea what to do sooo how is everyone

Oh my goodness it is time for bed I have work tomorrow and it is 11:19 pm
Get players without adhd
Seriously. Do they actually roleplay or are they just talking OOC
I'M BACK AND I NEED COFFEE heh any way how are y'all
What's happening if I may ask?
HA same I'm so confused
What do you mean by rolling stats? I'm fairly new myself, but I'm sure skills and things are checks right? If they are needed I think
Maybe its like the skill maybe perception is 4 or somthing, and the dice hits a 9, so the perception would be in this like dice 9, +4 then whatever boons or debuffs that might happen like environment, or other abilitys from party members or the enemy
I might be wrong so please correct me, but thats how I see it I think
Enid is referring to rolled stats for ability score generation
So how do we keep track of healthcare items I have a horrible memory so I would probably forget
In which case that’s up to the DM of the game which of the 3 official methods (or even their own homebrew method) is used
I think maybe the DM helps with that also .-.
Maybe ;D
Character sheets have a section to write down your inventory
Totally going to find a teddy bear and make a great use of it one day ._>
Probably possess it with an evil soul or somthing and accidentally release it
Night night o/
Late reply but it sounds like you need to have an out of game conversation to establish table manners and expected behaviors
Okay thank you, I will do this.
Heya! I’m… very new to DND (and this sever) I have a general idea of what I’m doing but what’s the best place to look for games?
i think there is some form of LFG channel we can use, i'm also new ;D
leme see if I can find it
oh I can't find anything .-. I thought I saw like the newbie banner at the bottom telling me I can
Yeah could be that
nono its just a link to the channel it wont ping people ^^
Oh- that’s what that does
Do you have a character sheet by any chance? I'm still figureing mine out
I used dnd beyond but I’ve made one before
Ah coolio
I can probably help
I've made one before but the setup with the website has changes a little and I'm not sure what homebru is or other settings so I'm just waiting for a friend to kinda' go through it with me
Homebrew is “house rules” basically things the DM or players (with DM approval) make
Ah, so yeah I'm not sure if I should select it or not if I'm looking for a small story / campgin to get into and get my feet wet so to speak ^^
alongside with all the other options I have no idea about so I'd rather not put all my time making a character just to mess up some settings haha
Yeah… me too I’ve made many characters but never played:/. also that’s fair I also don’t want to ruin anything
Also i'm looking forward to my first time really getting into it, so I dont really wanna come across any problems because i pressed the wrong button ;D
Valid, wish you luck tho
Oh, college o_O I dident realise we had schools ;D, I just wanted to be a Druid, before there was a skill I was able to use to talk to animals fairly early on, and I belive I was able to talk telepathicly to people at some point
I kinda wanted to go with that area
I think colleges are just subclass for bards or something. But from what i looked at Druid seems fun and interesting, they got that whole wild shape thing as well
;o
Yup
Like Druids have Circles
Paladins have oaths
Monks have Ways
Maybe they are? I’ve never played cleric:/
Oh what kind of Circles do the Druids have?
Umm
Gimme a sec
I think it’s land, sea, stars and… probably a few more
Its alright I could just search myself haha I just thought maybe you'd like to explain abit but its fine ;D
Gimmy land o_O if its nature I want it ;D
Circle of:
Dreams
Moon
Land
Spores
Wildfire
Shepherd
Stars
okay I want Spores ._.
Great choice
Mushroomman o_O
Are you familiar with The Last Of Us
Very ;D
Think of controlling the Cordyceps
Oh! I just looked at it, seems really fun
That’s Spore Druid
Okay i'm not that familiar ._. I have no idea what that word means haha
Fungi zombie
Do I get to control vines and trees too o_O
At 6th level, your spores gain the ability to infest a corpse and animate it. If a beast or a humanoid that is Small or Medium dies within 10 feet of you, you can use your reaction to animate it, causing it to stand up immediately with 1 hit point. The creature uses the Zombie stat block in the Monster Manual. It remains animate for 1 hour, after which time it collapses and dies.
Seems cool
To my understanding, that’s built into most Druids, but it’s not the focus of the Circle of Spores
Oh so its like a Necromancer but more... Nature
You could think of it that way
Btw Druids are closer to Wizards than clerics
Lore wise
A friend of mine was explaining sub classes and also mentioned I can Multi-Class, but still not sure what cons and pros for all that yet
I'd like to be a Druid and a Cleric but I dunno if it is what I think it is
Apparently I can’t give links… I just got muted for a minute lol
Multiclassinh is taking levels in another class. Most of the time, it easier to continue in one class, but it can be beneficial to multiclass. The best builds DO have a bit of multiclassing, but it’s much more complex and I don’t recommend it if you’re new
That IS possible
Different classes need different stat requirements to multiclass, but Druids and Clerics both use wisdom so it’s fine
I'm more than happy to try things out and make a mistake along the way though, I dont really wanna search everything up to the point I'm min-maxing ^^
or following a meta of sorts
Less of a meta than you don’t know wtf is going on and how to play your character
Probably for the best, i just kinda picked and choose
If you multiclass and don’t know what ur doing
Yeah ^^ Its why eventually I'll look for some small campgins or somthing so its not a major issue
Yeah…. Probably
Okokok
Althought one of my mates did something horrible a while back in their story >_>
Like, in game or out of character IRL
In game ;D
Phew
Off topic but is there anything on this server to help people find games? (I’m dumb IK) you just seem to know more then both of us
They got possessed for a while, and oddly enough they was fine sometimes but during a critical battle they actually incincerated their friend because the demon inside her told her too, funnily enough she agreed to it xD
Hes not there anymore .-.
Hm. That’s certainly smt. I got blown up by a holy hand grenade once.
One shot
omg ;D
Phh
My poor little Autognome
