The final set of sketches for the people inhabing the sole bit of civilization the PCs are about to arrive at; normally I'd color, but I want to have a whle lot of varied faces for them... and it helps me improv RP if I've got a portrait to use as a 'inspiration'.

I made a Palikobold.
These guys are supposed to be a combination of kobold and Palico (monster hunter). They will replace kobold in my setting, and use their sticky tongues to steal crap from the party in zany hit-and-run ambushes.
They are rubbery and nye impossible to kill. Instead. When they drop to 0, the quickly burrow ibto the ground and retreat to their den, where their clan (lead by a queen) hoards all of their stolen junk.

They also eat adventurers.

(The design also pays homage to the fur/scales history of Kobolds.)

This is Valin Arcadius, my character for a Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaign I've recently joined. He is a prince of a neighbouring nation who was visiting Drakkenheim when the meteors fell, destroying the city. He remembers a purple flash and then the next minute waking up 15 years later having not aged a day, suddenly having one eye a vivid purple colour and the other a warm golden colour. After finding out his family was overthrown in the time he was in this magical coma, Valin found himself partway between grief and guilt, wondering if he had stayed home if he could have prevented what happened to his family.

Now, he finds himself wanting to preserve his family's legacy by seizing the vacant thrown of Drakkenheim and restoring the city to a liveable state. Lofty goals indeed, but Valin might be arrogant enough that he could do it.

He has shown he can be quite lazy and entitled, but also displays some traits of leadership - he will always "lock in" when needed, and aims to protect those around him as he sees it as "a kings duty is to protect his people".

The horrors of Drakkenheim are quickly humbling him though, as he is finding he isn't quite as capable as he thought he was.

These are Osteon and Spicula, Osteon is a grave cleric that left the clergy to roam the fields on horseback, following his passion to study and classify the undead and exploring the path of his the paladin oath to protect mankind from evil.

This is another knight I have made. I enjoy drawing and painting horses very much... This stallion is giving main character energy and I love it hahahahah.

And Derg number 2, attempted remake. I was trying to get him to be "up" instead of just on his belly, hense the rolled up tin-foil.

His tail wouldn't stay on and his head kept drooping... and the clay didn't dry properly so he broke in half.

And now I'm out of the air-dry clay I used so I can't re-make him.

BUT... since we've recently moved into a HOUSE that we now OWN... we'll be able to save some money in order to get crafty stuff... so maybe I'll be able to buy some more clay to remake him... but better.

Beyond that... I do draw. THIS.. is Zela the Scarred.

She's a semi-friendly green dragon... who earned the name "The Scarred" because she was in captivity and they continually cut her wings off so she wouldn't fly away, to the point her back scarred over and she couldn't heal to grow them back.

Have you tried making an armature using wire? Clay is too heavy by itself and will flatten things like legs, but if you use florist wire to make a metal armature (like a skeleton) it can help keep it up and also help prevent limbs breaking off.

Yep, I've seen that used- it's light, can be wrapped and shapped too under the clay. Florist wire doesn't tend to be too expensive, but any soft, easily twisted wire can work. Good luck with your dragons!

Yeah, alfoil is great for big armature shapes, and wire for limbs. Don't be afraid to mix your media as well - experiment!

Glad to finally be here 🙂 I've been an RPG enthusiast for quite a while, starting my DnD journey with 2nd edition.

I’m currently working on a game where you can create medieval manuscripts from scratch using various assets. Quite accidentally, I realized that its mechanics can also be used to create different assets for real life.

As a first test, I tried ofcoutrse making some DnD assets for our latest campaign with my friends. What do you think of them? I’ve created a fanmade character sheet, trying to be as accurate as possible, along with a map for our session and an item card. Do you have any other ideas for "templates" that could be designed this way? Can I also ask do you use any additional software for your sessions like Inkarnate or sth similar?

You’ll get there!! I’ve been able to improve a lot in a short-ish time because I am disabled and currently unemployed.
Plus I think no matter how skilled you get, imposter syndrome can make your art look horrible to yourself and no one else😅

My main problem is people always draw their characters with good shading and they can draw tiny details

Like most people can spend three maybe 4 hours on the drawing me I barely spend more than an hour

biggest thing I can recommend is to look at shapes instead of details when drawing with a reference

Some of my own worldbuilding regarding sending stones in the feywild. Feel free to adapt for your own setting!

The campaign itself is based on magical girl anime and has been taking place in fantasy 90s. The party though has just left the material plane and headed to the feywild on a mission to hunt down the bbeg. While the material plane is in the 1990s and cellular telephones are just becoming a thing, I decided the feywild is still mostly using sending stones. I ended up coming up with these cute tamagotchi-like carrying cases that the stones are kept in. Perhaps it augments the magic rock’s existing power to provide various features and this technology is very rapidly developing. And because this is the fey, we need y2k aesthetics and a culture all around treating the sending stones as a fashionable accessory
