OK, been a bit, but I think I put the character in a campaign as “unassigned” and then one of my players “claimed” it. So, go to your campaign, copy the join link, paste the link in browser and hit ENTER, then select your NPC. Then unassign it from you so someone else can claim it.

Sorcerer only attunement and gives +3 to spell attack and save DC. However, instead of only buffing just my sorcerer attack and DC, it buffed my warlock attack and DC as well. That's not supposed to happen right?

That's a result of a current limitation of the system; it doesn't support applying bonuses to just certain classes spell attacks/saves

So it's not the intended functionality of the item, but it's also (technically) not a bug as it's the character sheet functioning as expected

I created a magic item recently that was supposed to have a +1 to armour class, curious as to why that doesn't work, and why I've had to add it separately as a +1 to armoured armour class and a +1 to unarmored armour class rather than being able to just add the usual bonus to (general) armour class?

A few things here. First, unless you’re trying to publish to the global community, you can safely ignore any warnings you see. You can use it in your own campaigns as-is, and it gets shared with your campaign automatically.

Second, it may be a warning you have already resolved. Try hitting the main save button to re-trigger the validation process.

If that doesn’t fix it, it could also be the result of a missing description, or one that’s too short. I’d double-check all those, then try that main save button again.

There's an invite link at the top of your campaign page. Go there and you can select a character to add.

Then Unassign that character (also on the campaign page) and send your player the same link.

They'll then be able to select that character for themself.

Okay, as of 4/15/2022 Wizards of the coast agreed to purchase dnd beyond. So if you bought your books prior to that how would you suggest they make sure that each person really owns the book and didnt just take a picture of a friends copy or the copy in the store? They could start putting codes in the physical books once the aqusition is finished but still books bought before 4/15/22 would have no way of being able to be credited in the electronic system.

So... can't log in to dndbeyond using chrome. Had the same issue on firefox but managed to solve it doing pic related. I think it's Kaspersky related but I haven't been able to fix it. Tried clearing cache, re-installing the browser, going to the default settings, allowing 3rd party cookies, disabling private browsing on KIS, disabling the anti banner on KIS, I have no adblock extensions atm, also whitelisted the site on KIS but no luck yet, if anyone has any pointers I'll appreciate it a lot!

From a personal standpoint - Kaspersky is the devil and is 99.99% the likely issue.

Alternatively, if you are using a security/anti-virus program called 'Kaspersky', please check if you have the "Private Browsing" setting that blocks data collection. This setting is known to block the Google login button from functioning.

If you're on Windows, Windows Defender is, by most accounts, the best of the Windows anti-virus/threat detection systems out there and has the benefit of not doing crappy things to your system like blocking legitimate web traffic.

So you may not need Kaspersky at all.

I did shift+F5, ignoring any cached items. and it is working now. I also saw that it had listed a bag of holding in my inventory. So maybe choosing an item to replicate makes it think you want the item right away and it just adds it?

hey, so I've got a bit of a problem, I made a homebrew subclass and it says that I can't share it because it does not have the necessary class features with the correct required levels. thing is It does have the necessary class features with the correct required levels. while I'm not actually going to share it now even if I could, since I'm gonna playtest it a few times first, I do wanna know what's wrong

A few things here:

First, and most importantly, unless you're trying to publish this to the global community (which you probably shouldn't if you wisely plan to playtest it first), you can just ignore those warnings entirely.

It gets shared with your campaign automatically, so anyone in your group should already be able to use it as-is.

Second: it might just be a cached validation error. You can try to hit that main Save button again to retrigger the validation process and hopefully resolve the error.

If not, you can check here to see which levels it's expecting for which classes and adjust your subclass accordingly.

Quick Question: I think my dbd beyond character has a to-hit modifier that is one higher than it should be. For context, I have a lvl 11 Hexblade Warlock (2 levels in fighter) and a +5 CHA Mod and a +3 Greatsword that is my pact weapon. In theory, my hit modifier should be: 5 (CHA-mod) + 4 (proficiency bonus) + 3 (Magic greatsword) =12, but it is showing as +13 when I select the sword as my "hex" weapon on the page. Is there something I am missing? I am new to DND Beyond but have been playing for a while so I am not sure. PDF of the whole sheet is included.

I'm a bit confused on how Orcish Fury works for weapons with 2 Damage dice (great sword). Would you add one extra d6 (half it's regular damage) for the attack or the 2d6? The specific wording is “When you hit with an attack using a simple or martial weapon, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice an additional time and add it as extra damage.” Does this mean that a great sword will not get the same buff as a great axe (2d6+1d6 and 1d12+1d12)?

I'm trying to figure out how to add monk-like speed increases in a homebrew subclass but it doesn't seem to be working.

At level 3 the subclass grants 5 walking speed, with additional 5 speed bonuses at levels 6, 10, and 14

Level scaling provides data in a way that can be surfaced via actions & snippets, but doesn't actually affect the modifier in the way you're trying to do.
If I was building this as official content, I would do the following:

1. Add the modifier, with a value of 5, as you have.
2. On that same feature, click [ADD AN OPTION] next to CLASS FEATURE OPTIONS (just under the save button for that feature)
   a) Add name/description (an additional +5)
   b) Check the IS GRANTED box
   c) Set REQUIRED CLASS LEVEL to 6.
   d) Click CREATE OPTION.
3. Repeat step 2 for level 10 & 14.

Great, thank you. Minor feedback, that's sort of lame. It's been months in coming. If you aren't going to make it available at UTC midnight, then it would be nice if the splash screen gave a time. There are SO MANY possible announcement channels, it's ridiculous to keep up with them, so really what "there will be an announcement" means is I'll just check back occasionally throughout the day. There are lots of switches to be flipped and levers to be pulled in the correct sequence as so to ensure nothing gets broken; ensuring peoples saved encounters don't get messed up and characters don't get corrupted

Yes and no. If you go to the Inventory tab on your character sheet, click "Manage Equipment", then find "Add Custom Item" in the sidebar, you can add an item with any name and description you want.

But there's not a way to create it so that it can be searched for and added by name.

On the character sheet page, clicking the Campaign button (next to Long Rest) sometimes brings up an outdated list of the party members. This only seems to happen on random characters (some character sheets will show the correct list, others won't), and sometimes it eventually updates itself. Does anyone know why it does this? Is it some kind of weird local cache I need to purge? Is it a dopey server thing? I've tried a CTRL+F5 hard refresh and unfotunately that didn't get me far. Tried logging in and out, that didn't work either. Any ideas?

I think at this point in time, that's generated entirely by the spell details. The section it appears in is based solely on the casting time.

The system would have to be changed to allow Actions in Spells before that would be doable.

Yeah, there is a decent handful of spells that use 1 action type to cast and a second action type to use afterwards. I think it would be greatly appreciated if those spells had special exceptions programed in to display them in the proper sub-tab in the actions tab. Hey! I have a homebrew subclass i'm doing and it has options for things kind of like a rune knight fighter except their tattoos.

Anyway, for some reason after inputing the level overrides for the options to scale, at 3rd level where you take the subclass and learn 2 it only gives me the option to take one even though in the level scale I've had it set to 2 (and then tried 3 to see if that would do anything but it didn't). When you create a homebrew feature with options, under the main description, on the left there should be a box for when options are available (don't remember the exact name). You need to put there when exactly options should be available. For example: 2,2,5,9,13,17 will mean you get two options at level 2 and then one eact at 5th, 9th, 13th, and 17th level.

The dice roller on my character sheet both on the website and in app are glitching out. It keeps returning the same result over and over. I’ve tried deleting app and reinstalling, turning the dice roller off and on again, and it works once, then goes right back to churning out 9s.

So... It seems that Monsters of the Multiverse has changed the Trance feature for Elves(Eladrin, Sea Elves, Shadar-kai) to include gaining 2 proficiencies afterwards:
Trance. You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which you retain consciousness.
Whenever you finish this trance, you can gain two proficiencies that you don’t have, each one with a weapon or a tool of your choice selected from the Player’s Handbook. You mystically acquire these proficiencies by drawing them from shared elven memory, and you retain them until you finish your next long rest.
However, that does not seem to have carried over the other Elves (Dark Elves, High Elves, Wood Elves) is that an oversight, or is Trance just different for the Elves in Monsters of the Multiverse?

I have a homebrew spell that is appearing twice. One that is built correctly and the other is not. But when I go to my homebrew collection, it doesn't show the one that isn't built correctly. How do I remove the one that is not built correctly so players aren't selecting the wrong variant?

I'm having trouble with building an armorer artificer. Specifically, at L9 you can infuse different parts of your armor (breastplate, boot, helmet, weapon). I would like to add Enhanced Weapon to the armor's special weapon (infiltrator's lightning launcher specifically), but it's not showing up as an item

similarly, while I can infuse my studded leather armor, there doesn't appear to be a mechanism for identifying it as my arcane armor, so it won't count the extra infusions I can apply to it

The Steel Defender isn't available in its current format as it is a scaling stat block - we dont have the ability to present scaling stat blocks (it is something the team are still developing)

You would need to homebrew the stat block using the homebrew tools based on your characters level and then add it

We recently had a spring cleaning where we removed the old Steel Defender. It was not correct (as it was the pre Tasha's errata version) - which was confusing a lot of users as we were getting constant feedback that it wasnt correct.

Its honestly not as hard as it seems at first glance, all the "difficult" stuff is at character creation, and your DM or other experienced players are there to help.

After that, its just what you want to do with your character, you tell the DM and he tells you what to roll.
