Yes, you learn 1 spell per level (typically). Just look at your class table.
i'll look it up ty
i had only played as monk before so i didn't learn how spellcasters work
Different ones are different. Like Cleric is different than sorcerer which is different than wizard.
Is there a reason you can’t edit you proficiency bonus? I woulda thought you can edit it for any reason you would wanna expand your character level past 20
DnDBeyond only supports 5e official rules.
And the official 5e rules don't have anything beyond level 20.
Oh okay thank you
You can do it with homebrew, though. (I used a homebrew feat when mine changed.)
wondering if someone could help me - i made a homebrew magic item, but can't seem to add that item to my character. the "homebrew" toggle is checked, i was wondering what the main troubleshooting steps were
might just need to wait ~15 minutes for cache.
so i made 2 versions, 1 a feat, the other an item -feat shows up, item doesn't
i remade the items and it seems to work now so...
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Hello, i'm having a lot trouble with my sub hero tier, when i try to use any of the features shows that i'm not sub, also when i click on subscribe button my username changes and the subscription appears (i never logged out). them when i change pages go back without sub. Sorry for the broken english.
Maybe try signing out and then verifying you're signing back in with the correct details
You say you've never logged out; there was a site wide account log out a few months back to allow some updates
nope nothing change
it was fine a couple weeks ago
just now when i try use it to play recently this started happening
When you log in, are you seeing the correct username?
in the app on my phone it appears as Kiings (my real username) and sad that i dont have any subscription
yes
but no access to the sub
I would recommend you enter a customer support ticket here: https://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
i will try it, ty
Hello. I am very new to the digital part of D&D. I am putting together my first campaign digitally on D&D Beyond and I am wondering if there is a way to import my digital purchased campaign on beyond into the campaign or if I need to create each encounter within the campaign. Thank you for your help!
You will need to create each encounter, but the ability to import encounters from published adventures is something the team is looking into
ok. thank you.
You can vote for that here if it's something you want to see:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/encounters-feedback-portal/114888-encounters-feedback
As we continue to improve our encounters tool, we are looking for your feedback.
Please use the Encounters Feedback Portal to vote on your favorite new featu...
done. thank you
Im making a homebrew spell, but it isnt scaling correctly based on level. The additional dice just dont show up
These are the settings i currently have in the editor
I think you want "Additional Points" for damage scaling.
But you can make a homebrew copy of any existing spell if you want to see how the official ones were set up. It's a good way to compare notes.
Be aware that homebrew edits can also take up to 15 minutes before they'll show up on the character sheet, so if the change doesn't fix it right away, you might need to wait a bit.
if i take duel wielder Feat.. is there a way to get the +1 AC to be recognized?
Yep. Click on the weapon you want to use for your TWF bonus action, open the Customize section in the sidebar, and click "Dual Wield".
Am I correct in thinking it's not currently possible to rename Player Characters (or monsters for that matter) in the Encounters Combat Tracker while the encounter is being run?
That's correct, although you can edit a character or homebrewed monster and then save and reload the encounter and the changes should show up
Understood. It would be very nice to have a "quick rename" function so that generalized encounters can easily be reused without having Characters created in a campaign. I will submit it as feedback. 🙂
How does purchasing items individually and sales interact? Lets say I purchase 5 items which cost 1.99 (2) each, which would reduce the cost of a book by 10 EUR (Correct?), And the book costs 30 EUR, So the book is now 20. If a 25% sale takes place, do you get 25% off that 20?
I'm not sure how else it'd work, just want to double check :P
Individual purchases give you credit towards the book
Buy three things at $2 and the price of a $30 book will be reduced to $24
If the book is put on sale for $20, you still have the same $6 credit, meaning it'll be $14 instead
Alright, Thanks!
Someone in #ddb-avrae-help might know, but the Avrae dev server is generally the best place to ask for GSheet help.

Hi everyone, I just started using d&d beyond character creator and sheet app and it's awesome
I figured out how to share d&d beyond characters to my friends through the campaign-unassign-claim method, but I have a question
If I generate a character using content from some paid sourcebook can I still share this character with someone who didn't buy that source?
You can, but they might run into issues later as they level up.
And if they removed anything, like if they change their prepared spells, they won’t be able to add it back.
But if someone (anyone) in your group has a Master Tier subscription, they can enable Content Sharing for your campaign. Then everyone else will be able to use your purchased character options in that campaign (and you can use theirs).
i can not find how to get a flail no matter where i look i can not find it for some reason help
and when i search it does no appear
If you can’t find it on your sheet, double-check that you don’t have any conflicting filters selected. For example, having the Proficient checkbox selected if you’re not proficient.
Guess that makes sense. Thanks for answering!
hey can anyone help me? my character sheet is completely whited out on my pc but on my phone its fine
Are you using any adblockers, VPN, or other web browser extensions that interact with DnDBeyond? Try disabling them, clearing your browser cache, and refreshing your browser and see if that helps clear it up.
I had a Homebrew monster rejected. A homebrew that's been up for more than 2 years by this point. The only comment I got: "Trademark". Can someone explain this to me?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/233106-the-platinum-dragon-bahamut
Okay I have a question, I have someone who wants to Co-DM in my discord. We will share the same players. Do they need their own Discord Channel in my server with their own campaign that my same players join. So she can DM her campaign with my players and I also Run them in my campaign with them. Is that possible? Or does she just use the same Channel for my campaign?
Has anyone come up with a good way to build a Sidekick as per the rules in Tasha's? I'm guessing you can't really on DnD Beyond unless you homebrew a strange sub-class?
no, you just... take a monster statblock and add the stuff as per the tasha rules
You can use the homebrew tools to modify an existing monster that qualifies, adding the sidekick traits to the stat block
Now you say it, that's obvious!
hello, i have question. i cant find a way to homebrew non magical items. for example if i want to modify the damage die of a war pick to lets say 2d4 instead of a 1d8 how would i go about doing this?
You can't currently homebrew mundane times. The best approach is to make a custom action directly on your character sheet
thanks! and otherwise i could just give the item on paper or something
You can add custom items directly on the character sheet, too. Just go to Inventory > Manage Inventory > Add Custom Item.
You might have more luck asking on the forums. It’s the team there that handles homebrew reports.
Hey, I'm currently part of multiple campaigns on DnDbeyond but the ones at the top of the "my campaigns" screen happen to be the least active ones. Is there any way to re-order those? Maybe some renaming, or deactivating/reactivating trickery?
Nope, you can't re-order campaigns. I believe they're ordered by the date you create/join them
Unfortunate, but thanks for the info!
hey how do I find a game for beginners?
You would want to look in #looking-for-players and see if any of the DMs there are advertising beginner friendly games
I have an encounter on the encounter builder that I've already deleted but it continues to show up when I refresh the page. clicking on it shows an empty untitled encounter but in my encounter tab it shows up with the title it had before I deleted it
Check out the pinned message on that topic.
ah ok thank you
Hi there! I'm trying to homebrew a spell that affects max HP, but somehow i can't find the proper modifier to make it work. Perhaps it doesn't exist yet, since only monster abilities have that kind of effect? (I am trying to adapt the 3.5 spell "Energy Drain")
Yeah, there’s not a Modifier for max HP yet.
Modifiers are typically for permanent effects as well, not temporary ones.
Just as I feared. Thank you anyway 🙂
You could try making a homebrew copy of Aid and see how that one was set up, just in case.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/aid
I'm guessing no one knows the answer to my question. Lol
I'm assuming this is with your own Discord server? You can both use the same channels if you want, it really doesn't matter
yes my discord, but they wont count as the dm will they? they can use the encounter builder and all that?
They can use the encounter builder, it doesn't matter what you do in the Discord. For the purposes of "counting" as the DM, the only effect it will really have is they won't have DM level access permissions on the other players character sheets in the DDB campaign
Okay I just wasn't sure how they could add my players to the encounter builder if they weren't the DM. thank you
Where does attribute point or Feat increase appear when leveling up in the app?
The app doesn't natively support leveling up yet.
If you're accessing it through the web browser (via the app), it's on the Class tab in the character builder.
Which level it appears at depends on your class.
does this discord still advertise paid games?
Yes, though you would have to use the #dnd-advertisements channel
#paid-looking-for-game rather. To see it you need to go to #880965682462875679 and get the corresponding role
Hey all. Does anyone know how to add homebrew items from the dndbeyond homebrew item list such that they show up for characters when trying to add it? I added the item "to my collection" and have homebrew enabled on the character pages, but for some reason it's not coming up. I can add the homebrew items I created myself but don't see other peoples creations I'm trying to add.
Ahh. Figured it out. It's the non-core dnd content slider.
Hello everyone 👋🏼 I require some assistance if y’all don’t mind
Does anyone have any experience translating a homebrew idea into a usable option on D&D Beyond?
I’ve done homebrew items before, but this time I’m trying to do a Subclass…and it’s just a tiny bit overwhelming 😅
The actual subclass has already been created and “written down” at this point I believe it’s just a matter of “copy and paste”…I would just like some guidance as to what to put where exactly
I have a play test session happening tomorrow so I do need this to be done within the end of the day preferably, thanks in advance!
You might check in in #homebrew as folks there may have good advice on how to build out homebrew in DNDBeyond. One of the best ways to learn how to do it though is to create a copy of a class/subclass similar to what you're trying to achieve and see how it was built out.
Perfect, I’ll share the homebrew there and maybe someone can suggest what archetype fits best
@edgy oriole it seems like that channel isn’t actually a thing? Lol
Unless I’m blind 😅😂
Ahh ok Sweet, thank you so much!
Also as a heads-up. The DnDBeyond homebrew tools are literally the same thing DnDBeyond staff use to add/fix content (minus any special backend database stuff they have to do). The UI/UX is not really "consumer" friendly.
Ahh, well that explains it then. I thought I was just dumb and underprepared 😃😂
Maybe I am
But still😂
Nah - it's a beast. It's usable but it's challenging for us folks who aren't privy to the data structure knowledge and processes that DnDBeyond staff would have.
Okay. Can I get a short explanation on how Homebrew works?
Well that’s very reassuring to know lol, that just makes me want to learn it even more tbh, I don’t like feeling stumped like this
Like how the DnDBeyond Homebrew tools work? It's basically a data entry tool that maps to the backend data structure that DnDBeyond has set up to meet/match DnD 5e rules.
Sure! Now I’m not an expert or anything near to that. But essentially when you “homebrew” something, you’re creating something custom made, and the range on that can go anywhere from something small like an item or a feature, to a game mechanic or a full new race, or even an entire world/universe all made in your image
It can be very fun if you’re into world building or just have that “creative itch”…but it can also be pretty daunting too😅
Making homebrew is ez pz. But making good homebrew is CR 30 😦
It’s fun nonetheless, for me at least lol
Ok yeah that’s true…you can think about it like this:
Any mad lad out there can find scraps of material and make a “table”…doesn’t mean it’s gonna level, sturdy, look nice or even serve its purpose at all!….but a master carpenter can make you something that’s been finely carved, polished and crafted properly
@uneven lantern
For Bound Body, I recommend changing it to Dex mod instead of Wis, since Rangers are dependent on Dex
Same for Drawn to Death
I’ll definitely bring that up to the DM before the play test tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion 😊 @plucky linden
I suggest taking this all over to #homebrew as this channel is meant for general support for DnDBeyond applications and services
Np
Spiritbound Ranger
is there a way to like
have stuff with summon beast/summon fey yk stuff like that
have a statblock appear on your sheet?
kinda like how a wildfire druid's wildfire spirit appears on their sheet?
like with their health trackable at least
You’ll have to create it as a homebrew monster and make all the necessary calculations for your character.
But then you can add it on the Extras tab of your sheet.
hmm ok
yeah I've just been using monster stat blocks but changing their health to fit my summon
Hiya, one of my players has all of the source books and doesn't have a sharing account. He's joined my campaign, but when he's going to character creation he's able to use all of his books, and not the ones the rest of the group without books is using. Is there a way to limit which books he uses in the campaign compendium?
are you limiting him because other players don't have the books or is it a limitation you would have on them all
If you want to limit him, just tell him which sources you allow
Is there a place to report bugs on here?>
thank you!
Is there a way I can take away a race that I published to edit it because now I have gotten it play tested and want to make some changes?
Published homebrew cannot be removed, but you can change the version and publish again to update it.
Hello, is there any way to disable the feature that automatically rolls crit damage when you roll a 20 on the attack roll before? I know you can right-click for individual rolls, but I'd like it if I can disable it from ever rolling crit damage since our table uses different rules for crit damage.
No there is not as D&D Beyond strives to implement the rules as written.
for a homebrew weapon how do I add a +1 bonus to attacks and damage?
Modifier type bonus
Subtype magic
Fixed value 1
If unsure, copy and existing item and see how that does it
It doesn't seem to add it to the attack action when I add the item to a PC's inventory
Do they have it equipped?
yeah but it just displays the normal atk/dmg numbers
I can go in and manually change it (on the PC's sheet) of course but I was hoping I could set that up from the item card
Haha oops forgot it was attunement ignore me
how come the Grung race is only available when enabling the magic the gathering content? wasn't it reprinted with Tashas?
Grung should be under Noncore D&D Content as it was originally published in a Noncore D&D source.
Also, no races came with Tasha's
sorry, i misspoke, i meant Circle of Spores (my Grung is gonna be a Spores Druid)
All the toggles are based on where a given thing was originally published.
ah ok, even if its reprinted?
Yes, even when reprinted.
got it, i was concerned that Circle of Spores wasn't Adventure League legal since it wasn't in the normal toggle options
You'll also find that holds true with trying to purchase items individually. We source things where they are originally published.
I'm trying to create a spell that uses strength as its spellcasting modifier. And I'm failing pretty hard. Which option would I use to make that happen, exactly?
I'd still like to know how to make the spell do it, but since it's being given by an item, I just realized I can customize the DC there too.
Spells don’t have spellcasting modifiers. That’s not a thing. Classes have spellcasting modifiers
same!
I go through the loop but when it reloads it still says sign in
was just going to chat here about it
no one in my group can
I can through the app, though
Okay, this might not just be me.
yeah
I can do it via Edge, but not Firefox.
happened pretty recently (i'm on safari)
cant do it on chrome either
Yeah, like during my game session
rip same
Nope, doesn't even work in Edge any more.
oh hey i think it's back! is it back for y'all?
Nope
nope
Yeah, this is bad. Brought our entire game to a halt.
clearing dndbeyond cookies worked for me and others on the forum
didnt work for me, did you do anything else?
managed to login
unfortunately cant
it was on the wizards part of the cookies, not the dndbeyond
rip clearing cookies didn't work for me
Was hoping I wouldn't have to clear that but I did and worked over here
So hold up, is there a way to log in if you don't have your dndb account linked to Twitch or Google?
Do we know what caused this?
maybe they are updating the site?
Oh, so it isn't just me?
Nope!
Seems unlikely, isn't it like 2 am in the US?
site wide technical difficulties ig
130 am east coast. Earlier the farther west.
Isn't it good to update later at night so that less people are affected by potential mistakes?
Same issue here, looks like clearing the cookies associated with dndbeyond and then logging back in fixed the issue. At least for me.
What browser/
Hang on - what login method are people trying to use? Is there any error you are seeing?
some people are logging in with twitch, others with email.
We dont have an email login, its Twitch, Google, or Apple
google email. sorry
I'm on firefox trying to login through google. No visible error, except it fails to actually log in.
I just logged in with Google and Twitch, both without issues (and once I remember my Apple ID details Ill test that...)
Is it a certain browser people are using?
Chrome
Same issue, just kept looping me through the login screen. I closed all dndbeyond pages, cleared cookies for the site, and then was able to successfully login using chrome through my Twitch account
Is anyone using ad blockers or other browser extensions? VPNs? Secuirity programs (like Kaspersky)?
I've now tested Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera GX, each with all three login types and Im not seeing any issues at all
sounds like I'm having the same problems as other people in firefox and chrome even after clearing cookies and caches and rebooting
I am able to log on using my phone
Okay that sounds like it is device or browser related then
Do you run any ad blockers, VPNs, security programs, firewalls, etc?
Nope. I just disabled all extensions. Still didn't work.
well let me correct that and say ti did not log me out on mobile
no extensions, vpns, ad blockers or security software
Are people able to PM me your location? Im wondering if there is an internet connection issue and you are all trying to connect from a specific region/country/location?
I'm having the same issue btw
Like wise
Just being looped through the login screen.
I am trying to load into my campaign to see character information and keeps repeating the login screen message
so I have the problem on my desktop computer but not my laptop. I even tested logging out and back in on my laptop and it worked
Hmmm, and both are on the same internet/data connection?
yep
OS/Browsers same?
okay, that most likely removes the intern outage in a specific area theory
Excuse me, but my dndbeyond glitched. I was logged out of my account...and i cant get back in. It keeps giving me an error message....
yep both windows 10 and tried chrome and firefox on both
oh it seems another had that issue
It literally logged me out like 10 minutes ago while creating a character
i'm using windows 10 and opera gx browser, attempting google login
I can get in on Chrome but not on Safari.
weird it worked when I logged in with a private window on firefox but clearing my cookies and caches in my browser didn't solve the issue
I can go to my profile. like view the member profile, so its not like it's gone.
in us-east
I was able to sign in via Edge
Can't log in on chrome on desktop but can log in on mobile.
I am also experiencing an issue in which attempting to log in returns me to whatever page I was on before, though still not logged
Same here.
Can we react if we're all experiencing that?
maybe related to cookies for google log on or twitch?
So much for making a last minute character for tomorrow
no everyone is having this issue
I’m in combat right now. Baaaaad timing.
for me it logged me out in the middle of viewing my sheet. i clicked the anvil to edit and then POOF logged out
Maybe. It's interesting at the very least, @final trellis .
Let's just give it some time, I'm sure whatever it is will be worked out soon enough now that they're clearly aware there is something
I just tested by logging out and back in successfully, so it is most definitely not everyone.
Hay uh, weird thought.
Is it only people who are subscribed who are having trouble logging in?
I am, and am experiencing issues
I clear my cookies and cache for everything again and it fixed the issue for me
I cant log into my account either
I’m a subscriber.
I'm not sure if it'll work for everyone, but signing in through Microsoft Edge fixed it
Can I ask that anyone have an issue NOT raise a support ticket (as thats just causing me extra work replying to them later)
Oops, did so about a half hour ago. Sorry!
I cant sign in through Microsoft edge either but i can sign in on my phone
You might want to pin this so more people can see it.
clearing cache did nothing
Anytime there is an outage support is really the last place to report, Discord/Twitter for live outages.
im not even able to look at my characters i shared :/
yeah i just noticed that, was wondering what was going on
And, it now works on my end too. Odd.
I cleared it about 5 times previously. Huh.
great for you. did nothing for me :/
in chrome I cleared just my google cookies and that solved the problem
We do need to be able to replicate it in order to solve it.
I tried clearing stuff but i just kept getting put through an infinite loop of sign in
Sorry. ☹️ I'm sure it'll get worked out!
I can screenshare difficulties if it's useful for staff?
I'm having the same issue
Are the problems logging in with multiple signin services or just one?
I'm uncertain, but my specific difficulties are logging in through Google
I normally log in with google and had then issue. Once I couldn't log in I couldn't log in with twitch or google
I can sign in on my phone but i cant log in through google
Mobile seems to be fine for me as well
I don't suppose you did anything different? 😂 Congrats though!
I'm about to continue my parties Essentials Kit adventure. They're about the fight the Spiders in Axeholm. Glad I downloaded Icespire Peak on the mobile app
I still can’t get in on Safari.
With what signin service(s)?
Using Opera GX, attempting login via Google
I'm using Chrome and trying to login via Twitch
I'm also having trouble logging in with google. Mobile and desktop. Using chrome.
Its like it physically cant sign you in on chrome so it just keeps looping back to the sign in page
Reports seem to be multiple browsers and multiple login methods correct? I've seen reports of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera - and also Google/Twitch (Im not sure if anyone advise of issues with Apple ID)?
Can you try to clear the cookies and cache for both your signin service as well as D&D Beyond?
My friend said he got it to work by logging in through incognito mode, though he said he couldn't update his character
Using Safari with Google sign-in.
I cleared cookies and cache, same infinite sign in loop
It clicked for me, thanks for the help Arenlor and Sorce!
I had to brute force mine for like 2 attempts to get back in after clearing cache and cookies
I've done it about 10 times now. No luck.
Its weird cause ive only ever had this problem like once but on my phone but not my computer and now its the complete opposite
I'm not able to log in either... normally I do it thru Twitch
12 hours ago was working fine
Yea it was working fine up until a few minutes ago for me
One of my players sent me their a link to their character sheets and I can't even view that
It worked fine for me about 90 minutes ago
Its weird but it might be a problem with the sign in or something
Cause it just loops forever when you cant sign in
It works for me if I'm using Incognito mode
Thats really weird
Very
Huh, I just tried incognito mode and I get the same failure
Wow
It started working for me after i cleared stuff but i did have to try again twice because its like the site cant recognize you are trying to login
Just tried several times in a row on incognito and same thing
Ngl i had a mini heart attack when that happened
Well, I guess I'll hope it's fixed by tomorrow. Very strange.
same
I though i got kicked or whatnot. lol
Hey Everyone - apologies for the issues in logging in. Currently I do not have any ETA on when this might be resolved, however once it is we will post here.
As a reminder, please DO NOT raise a support ticket for the issue, it is logged, we do not need anyone raising a ticket to report.
In the meantime, it does seem like it might be intermittent, so as some users have posted above, you may find it works after a while, etc. Apologies again.
how do I put in AC for players on an encounter I built
like how do I get there AC and hitpoints to show up there for players
Its should show up by itself like the armors stats but it could just be a visual bug or something
Honestly no clue i just use computer and view the whole sheet
step 1
create a campaign
step 2
Invite your players to the campaign
step 3
Create an encounter
Step 4
In the encoutner builder, click manage players. then choose the specific campaign
Step 5,
when you Run the encounter it will automatically show the player's Hp, ac, and other appropriate stats.
the HP will change as soon as the players update their HP on their character sheet
Do you have to make the campaign to make it show up on there? like I just wanna quickly input the HP totals and AC
I cannot log into dnd beyond, ill click sign in but itll just go back to the home screen and says sign in again
same problem!
its a google/ google chrome problem
I'll check on it and come back to you as soon as possible
its not tho, im on firefox
are u using Gmail login?
and signed in with twitch
Hello everyone I have currently an issue that I can no longer login into DnD beyond via chrome mobile. I created an account directly on the homepage. Now I got logged out and relog because it only offers me the option to log in via Google
For the AC, you cant input a custom value
for the HP, you can click on the 0/0
then you will see
Heal
Text box
Damage
Temp HP
Text box
Max HP Overrirde
Text box
On the last text box, you can input there your desired HP value
ok cool thanks
no problem
happy to help.
yeah, it's a common issue now.
as someone not working for DDB, i have few guesses based on other people's reports.
- it's a gmail problem
- it's a chrome problem
- or both
try signing in using a different browser. I used edge and I logged in easily
Its a problem right now and some people are able to fix it by clearing their cache and cookies on their browser but it doesn't work for everyone
ok ill try that, thankyou!
No problem
Guess it's a chrome problem then because I did not connect my Google account with beyond
Worked for me when I cleared both cookies and cache in Firefox, clearing only cache did not work
For me, I can log in via chrome on my mobile and the mobile app also works, but desktop is a no-go. Will see what happens, I guess.
Yeah just deleted chache and cookies but there is still no option to directly log in to beyond
I cleared cache and cookie and reloaded by Ctrl+F5 also (not just F5), not sure if it is important
on Firefox, not chrome for me, and Google login
Don't have a ctrl on mobile 😋
I mean it kind of meh. But the mobile app still works fine so I can still abominations of characters
ok so just adding to the record, the only thing that's worked so far for logging in has been going to microsoft edge (a different browser)
I cleared my cookies and cache on chrome to no effect
but edge let me in
I am having this issue with chrome and safari as well
As I posted above (and pinned) there is an issue with logging in, I dont have an ETA. I don't have any suggestions, unfortunately is a wait until it is resolved issue.
Thanks for the update - good luck to the tech support teams!
Same here, Edge works, Chrome seems to be the issue. Sending out positive vibes to the techs working on it.
I tried what Court Jester suggested, and it worked for me at least, so there's still hope
The site signed me out
when trying to sign back in it returns me to the classes page, still not signed in
is there a website update? or is there a way to solve this ?
There's an issue with the logging - I can suggest trying other browsers (Chrome and Firefox seems to be a core logging issue), otherwise current solution is waiting it out for the techs to see and hopefully fix it (good vibes).
At least that's what I'm aware of (most recent pinned message if unclear).
ok thank you
If it helps, I have also been logged out and can't get back in now, so it doesn't care who it hits. 😬
i've got a similar issue on firefox, I try to log in but it boots me to the front page without logging me in
i've got it to work on Edge (ew) so for now i'm ok
Yeah I had the same. Lasted about two hours before I could get back in
The app works fine, for what that's worth
i just joined to check if this is a problem with just my computer. however it seems to work on my phone and it is reassuring to see that i am not the only one with this problem
Just tried it, does seem to work on edge for some reason, likely because no one uses it...
lovely, an intermittent issue affecting multiplepeople with no definable causation or solution
A friend just had the login issue. I told him to delete cookies and try again which seems to have worked. Using an alternate browser which hasn't been used with Beyond before should work for the same reason.
Is this just happening with logins via Google or is it affecting the other services too?
Silver lining - some people are able to get in. But yeah, right now I can only cross fingers and hope when people try they are getting in.
I actually just joined to see if I could find something out about that XD. Ddb logged me out and now wont let me log into either of my accounts.
Based on reports, it impacting all login types and all browsers, so something server side at a guess. I however am just from Support and not the technical Dev Wizard. 🙂
made it back in on chrome
Ive been trying on safari with no luck as well as the apple ddb app neither are letting me in
microsoft edge works for me just fine, chrome doesnt work
try on opera gx
it worked for me
I dont know what that is?
Hello wonderful people - I've been asked to find out if logging in now will work? Can anyone having issues try logging in?
(suddenly everyone is silent 😛 )
Thanks - Im hoping everyone else will experience the same, but want to get some more reference points before I tell the devs they deserve gold stars (secret, they always deserve gold stars!)
Working again on Firefox too
How long ago did you try?
google signed me out of both my Google Account and my D&D Beyond Account
a few minutes ago
Can you refresah and try again?
i forgot the password to my email
and what email I used
i have proof of the purchases i made on it though
Okay, forgtetting login details might be separate from the outage we had with the login server.
For account issues such as login info, I cant help via discord, you'll need to raise a support ticket
i did
its outside of business hours
so i'll wait a while
i just thought i could get help over discord
Yes, but we also jsut had a major login issue, so If I responded to the ticket saying there isn an outage, can you respond back.
k
It works to log in after i cleared my cache and cookies
i had to disable duckduckgo temporarily but it works yay!
Ahhh, that means I managed to realise it wasnt part of the issue - we will definately get to it, it may jsut take a bit 🙂
kk
thank you
so what proof do i need that the account is mine
should i show my proof of purchases i made on the account
or show that i know the old email i used
It depends right now I am trying to ensure that our outage is fixed, I cant deal with individual ticket specifics, you;ll need to wait for one of us to respond to the ticket. Im sorry, but I have devs up at 3,30am their time waiting for confirmation
It works for me to log in now Joel 🙂
Anyone Else who was logged out / could not log in during the last 3-4 hour window. If you are still logged out, please try again - if you can get back in please give a thumbs up.
Still unable to log in directly. Only offers Google, Twitch and Apple login
We haven't even had a direct login, all accounts would use either Twitch, Google, or Apple ID
I am serverly confused now
Okay then ignore me and everything I wrote... I gonna crawl back under the rock I came from.
😬
Ok, working now
I can log into my accounts again but I forgot my main account's email and password
wait i can log back in again?
I can now login to the website but not the android app. I have cleared cache and data, still get same nondescript login error please contact support message
How do I get the force ballista to appear on the sheet? (like a button to I can roll attack and damage)
Only the flamethrower shows up
The force ballista is intentionally hidden because it incorrectly adds your INT mod to the damage roll.
But you can go to the Actions tab, click on the text for Force Ballista, then open the Customize section in the sidebar.
Make sure "Display as Attack" gets checked, and add a negative Damage Bonus equal to your INT mod.
And then it should display as expected.
hooray i was hoping it would work again over night for me
I feel bad for anyone in the middle of a game, like that one guy last night who said he was in the midst of combat
App is functioning again.
How to add additional cantrips gained from the strixhaven feat on my character sheet on the website?
Go to your sheet (not character creator) and go to manage feats.
So on your sheet click on "Features and Traits" where it'll list your feats. Then click up top where it says "Manage Feats".
So i added the feat but can't add more cantrips
There is a drop down menu there.
You have to add it there and you can edit it there and only there.
Thanks a lot! can't belioeve i missed it
No problem. It's weird.
i notice that martial arts doesnt seem to affect path of beast weapons, any reason why or how to fix this?
The short answer why is that the barbarian subclass actions currently have no way to know that you’re also a monk.
But you do have a couple options.
I am not sure that your Path of the Beast weapons would count for it though.
They are simple melee weapons, not unarmed strikes and I'm not sure it would fall under monk weapons as such.
"[...]" monk weapons, which are shortswords and any simple melee weapons that don’t have the two-handed or heavy property."
Anyway, if you click on the attack, you should see a “Customize” section there in the sidebar. If you open that, you can manually adjust the attack and damage bonuses to match your DEX. (You’ll have to manually change it again if your DEX changes.)
Alternatively, you can make a homebrew copy of that subclass and change it to use your actual DEX instead.
thanks, just wanted to be sure
Hi good morning
I need some help nderstanding something, I know is about the leaks, and they may be falsa but want to know or example, let's say the leak is true and the duergar in the new book would have no sunlight sensitivity
If I already own the DDB digital book with the duergar race, am I going to have the old duergar version or the new one or would it be two separate instances?
Point being, if I would have to buy the new book to have the overhaul of racial changes
If two books contain two versions, the specific page will contain the latest version. However, the books will be different. See the Bladesinger.
We don’t know yet if MMM comes with errata for old books or not. That will ultimately determine if DDB change the old versions or not, I think
Does anyone know how I activate the Gift of Flame option from the Opal of the Ild Rune in DDB? I can equip it / attune to it, but can’t seem to add the extra d6 damage to my attack automatically…
Nope it won't.
You'll have to just roll the die when it triggers.
DnD Beyond doesn't have a way to do that yet. Any additional damage like hunters mark, smites, sneak attack, etc all has to be rolled separately. I think it's something they're working on.
ok, thx for the quick reply!
I cant role the damage dice on one charakter. every outher thing i can role...
are you running any extensions, such as Beyond20?
my brother instaled it but wen i looked it up and it vas not ddb:s "thing" i uninstalled it immidietly...
What specifically happens when you try to roll damage?
Do you get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
Meaning you tried another character in the same browser?
Can you try that same character in a different browser? We're trying to determine if the browser itself is interfering somehow.
same browser (same tab), works fina w a diff carakter...
Okay, but can you try the first character in a different browser?
tesded, same problem.
And it's only the damage rolls for that character that's the problem?
You're able to roll other things like ability checks?
Do you have another device you can try that character on?
Hi, Please help: I have a** Clockwork soul Sorcerer**, and want to swap out spells, this is not supported so far as I can find...So...I am making a homebrew feat, but I can't get the spells to display on my char sheet... homebrew is on, the feat is selected, the spells are selected... DnD beyond ...?? ... Thanks
yes, yes, dont have.
I think that's all the troubleshooting we can do on your side, then. I'd suggest opening a support ticket. They can take a look and see if there's something up with the character itself.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Can you share a link to that character?
Regardless, I would have suggested creating a homebrew copy of the subclass and changing the spells there instead.
I'm now trying to copy and modify strixhaven feats.
thx for the try, and thx for the link 🙂
Doing it as a separate feat means the original Clockwork Magic spells will still display on your sheet, and you won't be able to set the feat spells to use spell slots either.
yeah, i wrote a note next to each... you're saying replace the whole subclass? Do you know how I could find is someone has already done that work? sounds above my skill level.
You can just clone a subclass can't you?
I'm not sure how to modify it in terms of the website though-- this is for an adventurer's league game it's a build to play exactly once...
do you now what URL is, they ask for it?
The link to your character sheet
Yeah, just go to create a homebrew subclass, select Clockwork Soul to use as a template, and you'll get an exact copy. Then you just need to open Clockwork Magic, find the spells you want to replace, and put the new one instead. It's basically the same thing you're doing with the Strixhaven feats.
oh, rock on! thanks! -- it works!
sorry for my noobiness, but were do i get it?
Open your character sheet and copy it from the address bar.
the last number or the hole thing?
The whole thing
Should be something like https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/yourUserName/characters/1234567
Thanks man your the best helping a noob out. (not so smart when it comes to computer language)
He's asking you to send the character link.
done and done 🙂
Ok...next question... how can I modify the character sheet to give me advantage on initiative? (multiclassed character including twilight cleric) - thanks, #YouGurusRock
You can't.
You can with homebrew. You’d need a Modifier with Type: Advantage, Subtype: Initiative.
(All it does is put a little “A” next to your initiative score.)
how do I scale encounters with 6 player characters instead of the normal 4, for example my pc's are level 5
That would be a question for #dm-discussion, this channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond tools, rather than getting helping running D&D
there aren't base game rules?
You misunderstand, your question should be asked in #dm-discussion rather than here, this is the wrong channel
The basic rules can be found https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules
The #ddb-support answer is that the encounter builder will calculate that for you automatically. 😉
https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-encounters
Should a playing in one of my campaigns be able to see the options I enabled for any character they create, or just one per campaign? My wife was trying to help another player yesterday and she could only see the basic options (she already has a completed character in that campaign).
Might depend on what you mean by "options I enabled".
I shared resources with the players of that campaign.
If you mean Content Sharing is enabled for that campaign, then it should work for all characters in that campaign.
Regardless of the number of characters per player.
Is there a specific option she wasn't able to find?
Any of the ones beyond the basic character options.
And the new character is also assigned to that campaign?
She won't be able to use any shared character options for characters outside the campaign.
She thought she was in the campaign, but I was asleep when she tried it.
If you open the campaign page, is the character there?
No. Just the original one she created.
Gotcha
There should be an invite link at the top of the page there -- the same one they used before.
If she hits that link, she can add her existing character to the campaign, and then it should work. 👍
OK. But if she doesn't go in through the link, then it will default to her having an unaffiliated character with whatever options her account is entitled to?
Correct
Whatever options she herself has purchased (plus everything in the free Basic Rules)
Cool. Thanks. I just want to make sure I explain it correctly; this is our first time using D&D Beyond.
I am seeing what appears to be an error with the Save DCs on this sheet: https://ddb.ac/characters/65734766/UUPlXc
Some spells are displaying DC 19 yet others are displaying DC 20 and I am not sure what is causing the discrepancy.
Is it just a cache issue, or something else?
Your Rod of the Pact Keeper gives you a +1 to save DCs for your warlock spells.
The 20s are all tagged as either “Warlock” or “Mystic Arcanum”, which seems to be how it determines what the warlock spells are.
But you do have a few other that should count as warlock spells, though…
Light and Sacred Flame, from your celestial warlock bonus cantrips, and Sapping Sting from your pact boon.
If you click on those and open the Customize section in the sidebar, you should be able to manually add the bonus.
Only Command, from Fey Touched, would still be a 19.
We are experiencing an issue in the character builder on my son's account. He was gifted a Legendary Bundle and has the code entered and has access to all the content, in terms of being able to look at books, search content regardless of source...
BUT when in the character builder, the version of Dragonborn that is available is the Pre-Fizban version. Races from Wild Beyond the Witchlight and Theros, for example, are NOT available.
Does he have the various options turned on? Theros for example is Magic the Gathering content.
It's on the first screen of character creation.
Yes. I checked a lot of things before coming here for help
He's actually also got a character in a campaign with a DM who is content sharing and is ALSO a Legendary Bundle owner, so should have everything in the Builder anyway, yes?
Are they making the character in that DMs campaign?
No, it is in a different campaign, but when building just for 'fun' and not in ANY campaign, the LB content isn't there
does the race option have an arrow saying there's multiple variants
Here's the Race screen for a 'fun' build... No arrow for Dragonborn, no fairy or Harengon at all.
So no evidence of owning Fizban's, Theros, or Witchlight
And the bundle was bought recently right? If the bundle is bought before the books came out then they wouldn't be there.
Like they also don't seem to have Strixhaven.
He submitted the bundle code about a week ago and all of the content for those books shows up when he is reading via the Sources tab, rather than going to the Marketplace page for the source, like it does for something unowned.
By contrast, MY race selection screen, NOT owning Theros or Witchlight or Strix but being in that same campaign with the shared resources DM
Just as a heads up, not related to the issue, but when you are being shared content it only works for character creation when you make the character in the campaign.
And I have Centaurs and Custom Lineage, and the 3 variant Dragonborn and Fairy and Harengon available. (He is missing Tasha's too, apparently)
Where did they get the code from? I'm not sure it's possible to have like an old code.
And as an aside on that content sharing limit, I am not having any restriction at all building characters from shared content outside the campaign
Then you'd have to own the content.
I might own more than I think... I'll check that. BUT, He can't get to content shared by me in campaigns where I am the sharer, either...
And on the https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace it says their entitlements are in sync? If so, I'd probably submit a support ticket if you haven't.
I'm honestly not sure what else it would be.
"Account Entitlements
Your entitlements data is in sync! You should have nothing to worry about, but contact our Support Team if you're having problems accessing your purchased content."
So, I guess a ticket is in order
Yeah, sorry man.
Let's briefly explore the idea that the key code may have been old? A Legendary Bundle code from... a year ago, unused and submitted now would only unlock content that existed a year ago?
But being in the shared content campaign would still grant...compendium style access? to the newer content when NOT specifically in that campaign
I'm not sure about the old code, but that's what it looks like to me.
And yes, being in a shared campaign let's you look at all of the books still any time, but locks you out of those options in character creation when making a character outside of that campaign unless you own that content yourself.
Like I can look at Fizban's even though I don't own it since I'm in a shared content campaign.
But I can't use the new dragonborn.
OK... I went to look at the content to see what is and isn't there based on release dates, it seems to predate even Wildemount
Does anyone know how to change the text "Custom Lineage" to the name of the race I want to call it? (If possible)
which was March of 2020.
There was a wave of codes given out at the front end of the Lockdown that would have cut that line VERY close.
you don't.
I was afraid of that
So, @opal pelican, it looks like the most recent content available to him 'out in the wild' (not attached to a campaign at all) is from Eberon, Rising from the Last War, because he has the Artificer reflecting that source, but no Cobalt Soul or Dunemancy, which puts this as a post 11/19, pre 3/20 content
That Product License is for the Legendary Bundle prior to Theros release
Which was the version granted by Wizards of the Coast Digital Club kit. So anything released from Theros onwards would need to be purchased using the leg bundle 15% discount (if buying entire book), or if after specific listings can purchase individually.
OK. I will chat with him about whether he wants to buy the updated race content.
He was excited to have a bundle, but looks like it's still got some gaps 🙂
You can use the Gender field in Notes & Description to fudge the display a little bit. It won’t remove the words “Custom Lineage” but you can display your race in front of it.
To completely change the name, you’d have to create it through homebrew instead.
I see, thank you. Seems like it would've been an easy option for them to include. Maybe some day
Using the Gender field is a nice hack. Smart
Looking for an assist with a campaign I'm currently running: I've limited content to PHB & Xanathar, but a PC was initially able to select an unintended race and more recently a ranger was able to select drakewarden at Lv3.
It seems the limitations are not being repspected in the appropriate dropdowns. Any thoughts/suggestions?
When you click on Content Management, you should see this:
Blocking a source will hide compendium content to prevent players from reading it unless they own it. No options or content will be removed from other tools such as the character builder, character sheet, or encounter builder.
The only means for restricting character options are these toggles in the character settings:
So how did the PC get access to drakewarden if they don't own Fizban (and I didn't share it)?
Available through some other means I take it?
Is content sharing enabled in the campaign?
It is, only for PHB & Xanathar.
When content sharing is enabled, everyone’s game content gets shared.
So someone in your group must own it.
And again, the options under Content Management don’t block any character options. It’s designed primarily to keep players from reading ahead in any adventure book you might be playing.
Thusly the only way to limit PC's to picking things from specific books is to place the expectation that they will research where a particular option is sourced?
Them or the DM knows
If you head over here, there’s an option to vote for getting better control over what options are or are not allowed in your campaign. Go let them know it’s something you want!

Not sure if this the right place to ask but if i were to make a homebrew subclass on dnd beyond, will i be able to import it like a normal charcter for dnd discord play or will it be to much of a pain?
it'll import just fine.
the only trouble will be if you have homebrew spells, which need additional work.
Game Log was broken for my entire session last night. Dice rolls showing up as ???. Only a refresh of the page would bring up the results. This was broken for around 3 weeks, got fixed about 2 weeks ago and now it's broken again. Could someone look in to this please? Thanks.
Hello i got a little issue. I tried to make a General Homebrewed Monk. Since there was no Homebrew Class Option. I put it as a Sub Class Option. now i cannot publish it coz its to simlar to the Circle of Spores... which is kinda a oddity. Can you help me to improve it to make a suiteable Homebrew Monk Class?
I´m sorry i don find the #homebrew-discussion channel
go to #880965682462875679 and add the proper role.
so im trying to use the encounter builder for my campaign but when i run it none of my players in the campaign can see it
is there a way to make it visible for them to?
no, because the encounter builder is a DM tool, not a player tool
ok so there is no way for a player to like look at the enemies they are fightin?
Only if they manually look it up (DnDBeyond search functionality, open up a book where the monster is listed, etc.)
k
not sure why you'd want your players to know what the stats of what they are fighting are.
but yeah.
no like i wanted to know if there was a way for them to see the enemies without me having to constantly repeat who/what they are fighting
put together the list and post that
k
If you used the Avrae bot in Discord, you could display an initiative list - but the problem is Avrae is not yet connected to the Encounter Builder on DDB (although I believe that is a long-term plan).
Yeah is there a way for me to transfer a character from on account to another ?
Yeah. Whoever currently owns the character needs to create a campaign, assign that character to the campaign, then click to Unassign it on the campaign page.
Then send the campaign’s invite link to the second user, who can now join as that character, which will transfer ownership to them as well.
if i get the master subscription can i share my books with my friends who dont have the subscription
Yep. Once someone (anyone) in the campaign enables content sharing, everyone’s purchased game content gets shared with the whole group.
So they’ll be able to read all your books (and you, theirs) and can use any shared character options for characters within that campaign.
thank you 👍
Can anyone help me with something? I'm trying to add an extra cantrip to a character sheet from the players backstory but can't figure out how. I had a look online, and saw that it might be easier to make a homebrew item. I've done this but can't figure out how to get the Save DC right. It's Sacred flame and the save is 8 + proficiency bonus + wisdom modifier
I'm not sure if this is better suited to here or homebrew discussion sorry :)
im trying to make a homebrew race and set it for the race to have a set intelligence score of -6 but when i go in modifiers and do set score it wont work in the character sheet. am I doing something wrong
There are no rules for having negative ability scores, so it’s probably not supported in the homebrew system either.
what if I changes it to positive like say 15
It might work. You’d have to give it a try to find out. (Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes before they show up on the character sheet.)
i have
It would definitely work on a magic item, because that’s surely what those modifiers were created for.
But not all modifiers work on other homebrew types, so I can’t say for sure whether it’ll work on a race.
We are having trouble with the combat logger. It shows there are rolls, but the roll doesn't appear. It stays three dots
can i join a game please
Try #looking-for-players and private message anyone who’s posted a game there that looks interesting to you.
How do I substitute a damage type on a weapon? Trying to make a pepperbox that deals acid rather than piercing.
Usually easiest to create those a custom action directly on the character sheet. Just go to the Actions tab and hit “Manage Custom” in the top right corner.
how do I add LV1 and up spells to my character? they're all coming up with "prepare" in the builder
What class is your character?
druid
You click the 'prepare' button, this will add the spell to your sheet
Druids are prepared casters, they don't permanently know spells and can instead prepare different ones each day
ah. thx. first time playing druid
Is there a way as the dm to have all party stats on one page? Mostly just AC and skills would be great, instead of having 6 pages open at once.
A dm page would be awesome. I've read there is a twitch plugin that does it, is there a browser plugin
Have you checked out the campaign view in the mobile app?
I imagine that will eventually come to the actual site, too, but you can head over here and vote for that if it’s something you’re eager for.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/campaign-feedback-portal/114894-campaign-feedback-portal
is it possible to 'archive' characters? i just finished an long running campaign and i want to save the character
Not currently, no.
shame
Is it possible to change which spellcasting class the "Mark of..." spells are added to?
They’re added to all of them.
Rather, they get added to all your class spell lists.
And then you can learn or prepare them as you would any other spell for that class.
This is exactly what I'm looking for.
How hard would it be to make a browser version.
I'll vote on that
No idea. We mods don’t really have any insight into the development process.
But I imagine the mobile app must have laid at least some of the groundwork for it.
hello i am trying to add a homebrew race into dnd-beyond and having some struggles with getting the ability score increases to work? as in, what should i type into the fixed value or additional bonus types?
Generally, the easiest way to figure this out is to make a separate homebrew by copying a thing that does a similar thing, and seeing how they do it. Otherwise, I recommend #homebrew (if you can’t see that channel, get the role in #880965682462875679 )
Is there any way to access the Van Richten's features in DnDBeyond? I can't seem to locate features like:
- Dark Gifts
- Replace a standard race with a Lineage as mentioned in Ancestral Legacy. If you replace a race with this lineage, you can keep the following elements of that race: any skill proficiencies you gained from it and any climbing, flying, or swimming speed you gained from it.
- The General Background Features: Inheritor, Mist Wanderer, Spirit Medium, Trauma Survivor, Traveler
Seems like there should be a Van Richten's toggle on the Character Creation->Home like the other optional sources.
For 1. Those aren't natively supported yet. This falls under features such as supernatural gifts and epic boons
For 2. The ancestral legacy features can be added directly onto the character sheet
hello, i don't know if this fits in #homebrew or here so i'll just ask in both,: does anyone know how one would go about using a characters level as a number within the fixed value of a custom action(in dnd-beyond ofc)?
If you open each character page in a new tab and resize them to fit, the Chrome will switch to mobile rendering and give you a similar look to the mobile app.
How can i add some bonus profiencies to my players characters without creating a custom feat
Just click in the proficiencies section on your sheet and you can add whatever you want.
what about tools and languages?
Yes.
nvm, had to reopen the pages instead of refreshing them to make changes
Is it possible to get the DDB dice roller to incorporate the reliable talent feature where applicable? E.g. if my L11 rogue rolls, a natural 1 on a skill check they are proficient in, DDB shows the final result as having that 1 turned into a 10 + modifier.
You can vote for that here!
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/digital-dice-feedback-portal/114885-new-digital-dice-portal
Hey folks,
We have a new Feedback Portal for all of your dice feedback. This will make it a lot easier for us to quantify and organize your feedb...
Thanks. Is there a way to see what other features DDB are seeking user input on outside of dice?
How would i add the spell list of one class to a different classes subclass (like divine soul sorcerer with the cleric spell list)
Each of these subforums here should have a link inside to its own feedback portal.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback
Have any feedback you want to share? This is the place!
(Except Accessibility, I think, but you can leave any feedback there inside the top thread.)
There’s a field on the main page called Additional Spell List. Just add the extra class there.
For future reference, you can always make a homebrew copy of any of the official stuff (like divine soul sorcerer) if you want to look inside and see how it was set up.
Thank you
For some reason I am unable to access non basic rules cantrips when choosing them for a feat through a character sheet. I have the cantrips, and I'm in the alteration of the sheet.
@solid kestrel Can you provide a link to (one of) the characters affected by this?
I'll direct message you?
I don't have PMs open, one second
Is this character Sheet right I haven’t played in about two years and I can’t remember how the sheets are supposed to look for a new character just looking to see if this is correct or if I did something terribly wrong in the app
Hi there - so it appear as if you have your stat modifiers input in the bottom there where the total ability score should go. So to the app, that means your Strength score is a 3 and therefore your modifer becomes a -4. You need to edit your character and go to the ability score section to correct based off what your scores are supposed to be. IE: if strength is 16 you would enter 16 and DDB will calculate the modifer for you
oh okay thank you ill try to fix that lol
give it a whirl and let us know 🙂
So I had remade a character using the point spending method rather than manually entering and it came out like this, just wondering if this is more correct or if I again did something wrong lol
I don’t know if the health is too high it just came out that way this time around
#character-discussion is the best place to get feedback on building your own character. (But yeah, that does look a little high for level 1.)
<@&516370028053004306> hi, so I spent $19.99 on Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons and Dragons starter set and it's been a week and it still hasn't arrived. My dad ordered it for me on his account so if you need is username it's werkunz21. Could you tell me why it's taking so long or maybe when it will arrive please? Thanks. 😊
DnD beyond doesn't sell physical items.
?
DnD Beyond is digital material only.
So you would access the content using the website or app.
oh sh*t...
So you should be able to view things here
is it possible to cancel the order
You mean refund? You probably already own it and can see it. I'm unsure of their policy on that tbh.
DnD Beyond does have several things that make it clear that there is no physical copies sent when you buy anything on there.

Potentially refund
You still can see all the content that was in the physical copy.
emphasis on potentially as normal standard operating proceedure is that they warn people upfront before purchase that it is digital only
yea i didnt see that 😂
The digital content is the same as the physical books - a cool thing is that it gets updated as WoTC makes corrections to their materials.
So digital stays up to date.
Downside is... you need an internet connection.
They might be able to issue a refund however this is not guaranteed due the fact that the terms of sale are stated clearly on the webpage
i still kinda perfer physical @edgy oriole
worth a shot i guess
Oh that's fine! I love a good physical book myself. I'm fortunate that I'm at a phase of life I can afford either or both.
i guess thats wut i get for trying to take the easy way out
but hold up
on the main page it shows like fuzzy dnd dice
how the hell is that digital
i mean
If you're a subscriber, DnDBeyond gives you extra perks like that
Interesting virtual dice, some nice frames and backgrounds for your DnDBeyond character sheets, early access to tools they are building
You can roll digital dice on your character sheet, the fuzzy dice are a 'skin' for those dice
oh
D&D Beyond only offers digital products
Again talk with customer support - you may be able to get refunded but you won't know unless you ask.
ok
But no promises either because DnDBeyond/Fandom do stress that they only sell digital
in red text by the confirm order button, if i recall correctly
Okay, let's not belabour the point
so im thinking about trying ranger for a new campaign
what race should i choose
and what stats (point buy)
This isn't the channel to ask that, you want #character-discussion
This channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond website and tools
oh sorry
S'all good
Hey.. Is there any way that I can add my monster manual as book to dndbeyond ?
You can use the homebrew tools to recreate those monsters for free.
Or you can buy just the monsters you need when you need them. Whatever you spend gets credited toward the remaining price of the book itself, too.
ohh.. ok thanks
ok so it isnt arriving physically but how do i acess it virtually
is it like an application or wut?
You can access it from the sources menu under adventures
It's a digital book, you can read it on the site
yea this kinda sucks ngl
The book on D&D Beyond is identical to what you'd get physically, the only thing you don't get is the dice
It even includes the pre-generated character sheets
I've got a physical copy of Fizban and I want to recreate the Dragonhide Belt in the homebrew builder. What is the Modifier to increase the Ki save DC ? The only thing I can see kinda fits is the Spell save DC. I also can't find a way to make the Ki point ability. Can someone help me with that?
You can't currently modify the ki save as it's not something the system could do at time of release, so I don't even think the item on the system supports it
Lemme double check for you though
Hey all, I'm a rogue and took the Shadowed Touched feat and the character builder gave me the invisibility spell, but the feat gives me 1 more 1st level necro or illusion spell, but I can't figure out how to add a spell to my character sheet. Any help?
You should be able to select it in the same place you added the feat.
@sweet hatch Yeah, the system doesn't currently support such modifiers and the team is aware
MAGIC ITEMS
Dragonhide Belt. You can equip this magic item to your character, but it does not currently modify the saving throw DCs for monk features automatically.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/123752-fizbans-treasury-of-dragons-issues-and-support#:~:text=MAGIC ITEMS,monk features automatically.
Ah, great. I found it, cheers!
ok thanks anyway for checking, I'll figure out something with my player for now, hoping this functionnality gets added someday😁
My DM approved and wants me to have the Wood Elf Magic feat on a non-Wood Elf, how can I implement this on DND Beyond? The feat prerequisite toggle didn't allow me to select it.
If that toggle looks like that, it's supposed to be completely at the bottom of the list, in the "Unavailable feats" section.
If you can't do it, maybe it's probably because you don't have access to the book, maybe ask your DM to do it for you, it may work
Coming back to my issue from last week, is there some place I can consult for all the specific names that WotC considers brand identity so I'll know not to step on toes?
I believe that some are defined as available in the SRD, but some are also defined in the OGL. I think if you publish through DM's Guild they license more to you. However, we're not Wizards of the Coast we're D&D Beyond, so beyond directing you to their documents there's not much we can help with.
Please direct me.
https://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/systems-reference-document-srd Seems to contain a good reference as well as some links.
You should probably consult a legal representative if you're looking to publish things for profit and avoid a lawsuit. Saying you asked a DnD Beyond discord mod probably isn't the best option.
so it's working now, but it wasn't yesterday. I had a workaround where I did a custom feat to try to get it to work, but it wasn't complete. It works now though.
Really? That's why I'm asking for a reference to an official document. If D&D Beyond moderators can tell me that my homebrew is denied because of brand identity, they're consulting something.
For published homebrew on DnD Beyond?
That can be even non-dnd related things. Like if I made a subclass called Pokemon Master it would be removed.
Hard to give specific advice here without knowing what was removed, but yeah, it goes a lot farther than just WOTC content.
The best general advice is that outside of what’s in the SRD, it’s safest not to reference anything you yourself didn’t create.
But there are exceptions that should be made. For example, Bahamut and Firbolg existed before D&D.
That's why going to WOTC with your concerns is better than going to a D&D Beyond moderator.
Best people to go to for advice on the matter are the people who made the rules re: independent or freelance publishing.
I would also suggest checking out the Storytelling Collective/RPG Writers' Workshop. They have a biannually course on publishing adventures and they discuss the SRD and what can and cannot be published as your own.
Does ki empowered strike work against all resistances and immunity or just the ones that state "nonmagical slashing, bludganing..."?
Just the ones that state non-magical resistance. Magical doesn't mean it bypasses everything.
But yeah, should be a #dnd-rules question.
Thanks and noted
This channel is for help regarding D&D Beyond the toolset, not D&D as far as the game and rules go.
👍
When creating a subclass, what do I use to make it so you can choose one from multiple class features, and then increase the amount at a higher level?
I believe this is where this question goes but do we have any idea how The new multiverse book will affect previously owned content? Will it errata it outright, leave both options? Will I get a discount on what I already had or will not buying it leave me with the classic?
We don't know yet.
You'll need to use Options whenever you want to give the player a choice. Just add a separate Option for each available choice.
At the top of the Class Feature, you'll also see a field called "Class Levels Where Options Known". This is what controls when they get to make their choices.
A battle master's manuevers, for example, has 3,3,3,7,7,10,10,15,15 in here. This means they get three choices at level 3, then two more each at levels 7, 10, and 15.
In the Homebrew Subclass creator, how do I add a class feature that allows the player to choose from a list of skills to gain proficiency in one or two?
Also is there a way to create a feature where the player can choose to gain expertise in a skill from that same list of skills?
You'd want to use the Options section and set up each available choice as its own Option with the appropriate modifier inside.
You'll also need to set the "Class Levels Where Options Known" field described above. ☝️
I'll give it a shot. Thanks
Hey folks! I've had a hard time posting images on the forums. Any time I try it I get a broken image link icon. Is there some secret to getting this to work?
On your characters page that show avatars or in any campaigns you are in showing all the players' avatars, are any of them not loading?
The only pictures I'm having problems with are in my posts on the forums. So, if I go to the forum and make a post where I want to include a map or other image, it just shows up as a broken image link.
My character avatars and stuff work fine
Do other pictures on other threads load?
Yep.
Have you posted images to the forums before?
Forgive me, I'm grasping at straws here. If it's not the Ratings field of the site cookie that many think is related to forum and homebrew upvote system, then I'm not sure what you're running into. I posted a couple of comments yesterday afternoon filled with several images I had put up on Imgur and didn't have an issue.
No. I've only tried to do it recently with a PbP campaign and can't get anything to work. It could easily be user error.
And that's good to know. I actually tried Imgur recently and it didn't work.
I found you have to get the right sharelink
I get this one:
Then in the ddb forum RTF editor:
Excellent. I'll give that a try.
But you have to remove the from that link you copied
Excellent. I'm going to try it now and see what happens.
That may not be the correct method or even the most efficient. But it's the method that I use and I post a decent amount on the forums
I will add that how mairondil explained how they do it, is exactly what I do to generate a URL that works
the image URL needs to end in the filetype so like .jpg or .png
Oh nice, validation
@little plume that was all I needed. Just worked perfectly. And that's also good to know. Thanks to you both! I'd give you a high five but, you know....intarwebz. 🤘
Also good call out on the filetype, Sorce. I wouldn't have known that.
Question for homebrew subclasses. I've got a subclass set up (and approved, but I need to make a couple edits on technical bugs), but I'm wondering how to make the subclass give a conditional half-expertise, if that's possible?
Happy to help (even though I barely did much) - the URL without the filetype will go to a web page, where as the one with the filetype is jsut the URL to the direct image (which is what most insert image URL forms requiore)
Isn't half-expertise just proficiency?
No, in my eyes it's an additional +1 to the ability score
So instead of a +2 it's a +3
Basically the skill gives proficiency in insight, or an additional +1 to the score if you're already proficient
Oooh. Hmmm
It's a tricky one for sure
So like jack of all traits from bard ontop of it?
But just to the one trait
I think you're going to need to use Options for that one
I think you want bonus, not proficiency
The thing is it only grants the "bonus" if you already have proficiency in it
But I don't remember if you can bonus a skill
Oh that's not possible to determine in the current homebrew system.
Is there any other ways you may go about it, or should I just it so the prerequisite to the subclass is Insight, and have it be a base +1?
Basically they choose from these options and I'm the DM so I know your limitations but you have to make every skill an option.
In that case, how do I set a prerequisite to the subclass, if THAT'S possible? 🤣
Or your select list of skills
Hmm. I don't remember if there's prerequisites for subclasses.
I think the best way would be to make an option giving a bonus to each skill. In the text of the feature say "Only pick the skills you are proficient in. You're DM may check your sheet to make sure you have only selected skills you are currently proficient in. You may have more choices listed below than you have skills you are proficient in, leave those blank."
Then the option adds the bonus like in your last screenshot.
Do that for each skill, give them as many options at 1st level of subclass. This lets anyone using this subclass choose as many options as they have. If they have 3 skills they are proficient in, they choose those 3. If they have 12, they choose those 12. Each one gives the bonus you're talking about. The rest operates on the honor system which is between the DM and the player.
It's specifically based off of Insight, as your objective is to be a Truthseeker
https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/1133967-truth-domain
Here's what it is as of the present
So it's one specific skill?
its specifically Insight
But I screwed up with that one on that specific skill and didn't set it to be the right bonus/choices
Ok, that's a lot less complex but still no easy way to implement because there's no If this then that
So you'll still want to make it an option. But it's only 1 option. In your text you say "Only choose this if you already have proficiency in Insight".
What you have there should add 1 to Insight.
alright, crossing fingers and seeing if it works
And ofc it doesn't, yay
alright, I could use some help still... What's the proper settings that'll make it just add a +1
because that didn't do it
Let me go look. I know I've got items that do it
So I know this works for a magic item:
And it gives a flat +10 to stealth?
I don't believe I have a subclass that does what you want, so let me whip something up
Whacky that it didn’t work then…
Yeah. It's a magic item. Equip the item and it adds 10 to the Stealth skill.
Sometimes different parts of homebrew doesn't work like other parts of homebrew
True, subclasses may be whacky
I've found several things that a subclass can't do, but an item can. So I add notes to the subclass to add a specific item to their inventory and equip it.
Icic… and no way to manually modify the AS?
(And not have it give a +1 to all WIS that is)
Let me make something real fast and see if it works. It might be how you have things set up.
Does any one know how to make an unarmored defense for Suclass Homebrew creator?
I’m trying to make a warlock subclass where no armor and no sheild AC = 10 + Dex + Cha
bonus, unarmored AC, by whatever score you want?
I was able to add 1 to Insight using the class feature. But that's automatic. Let me change it to an optional thing to see.
You have it set up like this, right? (my example subclass starts at level 3)
Yeah. Sorry, dinner rn
Maybe have to wait the 20 minutes for your changes to take effect
Oh that exists? Potentially….
But the tooltip changed when I applied it to my character
I don't quite follow you
I applied the subclass to my character and the description of the effects applied to my character, but my insight bonus didn’t go up
My example is just a copy of the barbarian path of the ancestral guardian. I went into the first class feature, Ancestral Protectors, and added an Option called Yes. The text of this option is "sdf". When I select this option, my Insight goes up by 1. My options are set up like in the screenshot above. So what you want to do is possible to do if you build it right.
Weird. I’ll review it all and see if it fixes it
Just remember any change and save the entire subclass, then go watch something on youtube for 20 minutes
In your subclass you need to add a modifier to whichever class feature gives this. MODIFIER TYPE: Bonus, MODIFIER SUBTYPE: Unarmored Armor Class, and ABILITY SCORE: CHA.
although there are no options, it's just a flat +1 to Insight
So you got the bonus on the feature itself, not in the option.
ic, so that should add the bonus
You'll need to delete the modifier from the feature and add the modifier to your option. That way it only applies if the person selects the option.
oh.... So it's this page?
Once you save that, you can then add aa modifier to it.
Sorry, hellishly lost here - I've never used dndb for homebrew
So it would look like this?
Delete that modifier at the bottom. The modifier needs to be inside the option.
How would I write it into the option?
Edit the option. Scroll down. Below the Save Changes button is some things that weren't there the first time.
ahhhh, that
Like I said, it's sometimes not very intuitive.
Yep
It is a drop down menu. You can have 50 choices if you want
First one giving proficiency in Insight, second a +1 bonus?
(AKA if they already have proficiency in Insight choosing option 1 will do nothing?)
Anything else needed? Or just option name, a description, check the "Is Granted", set the required class level, and set the modifier?
Yeah. That actually makes some sense too. Have a "Already have Insight" and "Give me Insight". That way one is a +1 the other adds proficiency.
That was my initial goal with it 🤣
I wouldn't mess with required class level unless you're giving new options at higher levels.
alright, so just ignore that part then - Got it
And I assume for Proficiency, you only need to have the modifier type and subtype?
Alright, time to wait 20 minutes and hope it works 😄
Yep. No # necessary for just proficiency
I'll lyk if that's got it right, but I seriously hope so...
Is there a way to link the spells to the subclass so they automatically get added, like they're supposed to, or will that make it incapable of being published?
If you use anything beyond the SRD it cannot be published
I forget what the acronym stands for but. It's all the free stuff: Basic Rules, Elemental Evil something or other. PHB is not part of it, though there's plenty from the basic rules also in the PHB
Here's a good link from earlier today: #ddb-support message
Got it. Need a better 4th level spell, Aura of Purity isn't SRD
You don't have to publish your homebrew. If you share a campaign with those who use, they can get it because you share a campaign. Content sharing does not have to be enabled for homebrew content to be shared this way.
ah, makes sense. I do still want to be able to though 🤣
I assume linking the spells is wrapping the spell in [spell] x [/spell], as it is with skills?
yeah, I got it, and I cleaned it up perfectly
They're all SRD, they're all properly listed and linked

That's impressive... Yeah, I'll use those for some digging 🤣
Thanks a load for all your help... Now it's time to wait and see if it works
You said it did. Good luck
Not quite it appears 🤣
alright FINALLY got it right 🤣
My god, that took way too long
im trying to create a spell with a similar effect to green flame blade but i don't know what modifiers to put to apply the weapons damage only to the person i strike
Application of Damage on DDB is still done manually.
ok but if i was using avrae on discord wouldn't it do it automatically
That's up to Avrae. Nothing to do with creating a spell homebrew.
if you used a Snippet to add damage to the attack, then it'd add damage
You'd wanna ask over in #ddb-avrae-help if you want to ensure your spell integrates correctly with the bot
ok
I'm very confused, I bought the lineages race out of ravenloft book
It translated to $3ish since I'm in Australia
And then it charged another $4, I only bought that and my subscription payments are from a different card
What has happened?
Does it show here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
You can view your transactions here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace if you scroll down to Order Transactions. Next to each one is a 'view' button
Also remember that your bank may issue charges on international transactions
I'll check the link, but I've bought from DDB heaps and my bank has never done that before
Yeah it's only been one order today but it charged me way more
