I received an email with a discount code for my cancelled DMG about 20 min ago
That’s great news! I still haven’t gotten mine here’s hoping it’s on its way 🤞🤞
Still waiting for mine.
I’ve refreshed my email about 2 dozen times since @obsidian depot said they got theirs lol
This channel is for getting technical support using the D&D Beyond Website and App. If you want to talk about your character's lore and backstory, it would be better if you posted that in #character-discussion
OH okay apologizes
On my browser (Chrome), but not on the Beyond app, custom character portraits are suddenly no longer showing up. Oh, some backgrounds are missing, too. Just plain white screen.
Try opening the character sheet in a different browser. If you can see it there, then you'll need to clear your Chrome Browser's cache
Signing out and back in might also help.
Thank you both. Clearing cache fixed it.
Hi! Is someone aware that campaigns cannot be accessed through the app anymore?
That was it! Thanks! It was on before I have no idea why it got randomly turned off
They seem to be working fine for me.
What happens when you try to access a campaign, exactly?
Hey so I'm having an issue with image files not loading in D&D Beyond. I tried clearing my cache, I tried deleting cookies, nothing works
All of my character sheets look like this, they're all missing their portraits in the My Characters page and within the sheets themselves.
The backgrounds of some of my sheets aren't showing up either.
For me (and several other people according to the forum), the new install on my tablet just says "could not load your campaigns" and the old install on my phone displays an error on the top that it could not fetch any updated data.
First trouble shooting method is always to open it in another browser. See if you're having the same issue there.
A few messages up, when someone reported the same issue, clearing the cache worked for them, but it was also suggested that they can try logging out and logging back in. So, you should attempt that as well, if you haven't already
People have been installing, uninstalling and deleting their cache, all to no avail. Browser works fine, just the App won't. Android for me, no idea about the others.
What app version and Android version are you on? Can you share a link to that thread?
I opened the app to tweak some character sheets, the campaigns sections said it was unable to update my latest changes, or something to that extent, I cleare...
Both are Android 14 with the latest security patches.
App is also the latest, 2.64 from 31.10.2024
app_version: 2.64 (20591)
system_version: android 34
just checked to verify on my phone, same scenario
Exact errors are "We could not fetch your latest changes" in the app with cached data and "We could not load your campaigns" in the fresh install.
Same app/OS versions?
2.64
Mine are both the same, device_model and manufacturer differ, as well as language settings, but software is the same.
And your OS version?
Trying to figure out if it’s specifically an Android problem. (My iOS app works fine.)
My iOS app is also working fine
And that’s on app version 2.64?
Yes. I am using the most up to date version
Interestingly the last update on Android was on 31.10., and on 03.11. everything was still ok, because we played on Sunday. So the change seems to be somewhere else, in Android or the DDB backend or something.
I also have app version 2.64 on iOS and have no problems viewing my campaigns
why does my unarmed strike do 3 dmg now? i used to do have to roll 1d6+2 but now it is a fixed 3
Did you change class or anything recently? Even switch from 2014 to 2024? Without specifics best I can tell you is default unarmed strike damage is 1+ strength modifier UNLESS they have a class or species feature that overrides that with a roll
it fixed itself somehow lol
quick question on building 2014 characters still... i've shared the content with the race desired to our campaign, but when someone goes to make a character with a specific species they do not have access to it even though they have access to the book and its contents. Is this maybe because they are creating the character "outside of the campaign"? If the book was not shared with them, they would not have access to the species.
Correct they will only have access to your material inside a campaign you’re in with them
Following up on this to let anyone who is reading this know that I JUST got my email with my discount code to reorder my DMG.
makes sense, we were trying to figure it out and it just dawned on me that that might be the reason
@shy tinsel I just got my e-mail to reorder my physical DMG with a discount code, tagging you cause we seem to be on a similar emailing time
Just got an email about my 2024 physical DMG order being canceled. Apparently they're unable to update the payment info, so I need to place a new order? I was apparently given a coupon code?
Thanks for all the support over this mods
Just got the same not too long ago sorry I 100% meant to tag you in my post but forgot
Yeah many people had this issue, even with valid payment methods. If you got an e-mail from orders@dndbeyond.com then yours was likely canceled and will need to do the reorder process
No worries, least we're back on track, for now lol
So, according to the order details/purchase history, 3 digital items were delivered (PHB/MM/DMG), I got my PHB back in September, the MM order has been placed, and the DMG has been cancelled. 😐
Yep, will need to re-order the physical DMG with the discount code
I got one payment failed+cancelation message from orders@dndbeyond, and then the following day I got a repeat of the same from test@dndbeyond. 😐
same
About time....
So, if the card was good the first time, just reorder?
that's what mine looked like too
Same.
yeah
If your order was canceled, I suggest waiting for your code (if you've reach out to them). You will get the pre-order price (with original discount) + $5 off.
This?
something happened on their end, just make sure to keep tabs on your bank cause I still have a pending charge for the cancelled purchase. Just making sure that one gets properly cancelled
yes that's the email that went out, use the button to re-order the physical DMG and then enter the promo code
If you got your code, you are good to go.
Originally was gonna be $40.13 for the bundle discount, now it's $34.78 for me
The last 'DNDBEYOND.CODDB' charge I'm seeing in my bank is for $50.98, on March 27.
From my understanding, folks who's orders got auto-cancelled should receive an email with a coupon to re-order.
That said, if anyone wants to know the status of their order or needs help with their order, please contact customer support.
While a response may take a while (it is my understanding they have a lot in their queue) they will get to it and help you out.
Good on them for giving the $5 off but JFC, this was too much of a headache. COMMUNICATION! For the love that is all good and holy.
How do I double-check my payment method?
I want to be double-darn-sure I have my details right.
Even though I'm 99% sure it's good.
You reenter your payment method when checking out
did you use a different payment method the PHB and then change cards? Could be the reason for your cancellation since payment info needed to update
Not that I know?
It was the same process as buying normal stuff. May want to use the link in the email to be safe.
yeah, I think you're safe to use whatever payment method for this one
For now..... LOL
just make sure your account payment is up to date for when MM comes around, but yeah we'll see how that goes lol
So I just choose 'product format: physical', since I (think) I already have the digital 3-pack?
Yeah
.... Oh man that was close. 😐 Kept hitting 'pre-order', waiting for it to take me to the payment screen.
And then realized the cart up at the top had a '7' on it...
I'M NOT THAT RICH.
So, when I click 'checkout', it's going to let me enter my payment details?
I don't want to click 'checkout' and have it say 'We're using the same broken thing from before, kthxbai'.
yeah checkout, then enter your payment details or verify if the stored details are correct, also add the promo code on that screen
should be in the top right area
I was able to add the promo code on the same screen as the checkout button. Nowhere to verify bank details.
then probably don't have any saved so just gotta enter new payment info
Mine are saved for my sub
How do I verify the payment details? Can't remove the card, can't edit.
It was on the next screen, where I am now.
Any ideas?
Hm. Guess I'll just add the card again, and then remove the old one.
Update: Recieved code for reorder. It took two days.
Oh my God, I just spent 45 minutes making a character and it is sitting on the ideal screen on the iPad version of D&D Beyond and there is no way to get back or anything without losing everything and restarting
Would anyone have any idea ideas how I can save this?
Not sure why it’s got you stuck there, but you can close it without losing anything.
I can? Cause it tells me. I’ll lose all my work.
Every change in the character builder is saved as soon as you make it.
Oh thank God. It looks like it did save. Thank you so much.
Oh, i was making a character a while ago, it was a bit annoying for me to not be sent back to the Background page
Whewwwww
sent me back to the character sheet itself, goit a bit annoying TwT
Is it your character or another person’s character? Are you the one hosting the dndbeyond campaign?
im not the host no
i ended up deleting them
Cause I can see leave on my end but I’m on mobile
how long on average do customer support tickets take to be answered would you guys say?
DDB is hopeless. I get an order cancelation on the DMG that they cannot charge my card. The same card that they successfully charge every month for the past three years for a subscription fee. (Did the same thing on the PHB). So what ever no hard cover book will go buy it somewhere else just like I did the PHB. But here is the problem. Log in to PayPal and guess what I have a charge for the DMG. So what the hell, if you have distribution issues just say the book will be delayed until we can get it sorted. All be it took you guys over 30days to respond to my support form on the PHB. Honestly don't think I will ever order hardcover books from beyond again. Also GET A PHONE NUMBER, pretty important for customers to be able to resolve issues with you. Good Day!
took over 30 days for me but they sent me coupons to buy the book that they didn't ship the first time so hey there was that.
It gets even better just logged into DDB to verify cancelation and it shows that it shipped and there is tracking. At this point just gonna eat a bowl of lucky charms and see what happens.
Was your cancellation email from test@dndbeyond.com? If so, that email can be safely disregarded. (You should have received a followup email explaining as much.)
The correct status should have been sent from orders@dndbeyond.com, and should match the status shown on the site.
Ok thanks for the clarification. Just very confused especially after the PHB mess. Thanks again
Tickets are answered in the order they're received, so the exact wait time can vary depending on how many tickets are ahead of yours.
But it seems like they're quite backed up at the moment and replies are taking quite a bit longer than usual...
@final flint@fading bramble The devs just told me campaigns should now be working in the Android app! Please let us know if you're still having trouble there.
Has anyone managed to create a 2014 character with a base subclass? Ever since the 2024 update I have only seen subclasses not from the PHB.
Do you have legacy content turn on?
Yes, it only has stuff that doesn't share a name with 2024 content
When making your class did you start by choosing a legacy main class or did you chose one of the 2024 ones?
I chose legacy. Have you been able to do what I'm asking. For example can you make a Totem Warrior Barbarian?
Yes
Have you purchased the 2014 PHB yourself, or is it being shared with you through a campaign?
Shared character options can only be used for characters in that campaign.
I thought I had purchased it but apparently not, I guess I didn't buy the digital copy since it used to come with a subscription
Subscriptions have never provided direct access to any of the books.
If you were able to see it without purchasing it, it was probably shared with you through one of your campaigns.
Thanks
Is there a way to get an Eldritch Invocation from Xanathar's or Tasha's on my 2024 character sheet?
Re: the cancelled order notices some folks got.. was that a PEBKAC/user error, or did the processing system flake, or..? Just wondering. Wanting to make sure that doesn't happen with the remaining book. 😐
I honestly don't know, but I wouldn't expect it to happen again.
Awesome. ❤️
Well... are you referring to the false cancellations from test@dndbeyond.com?
I wouldn't expect that to happen again.
There were some orders that genuinely were cancelled.
I saw the one 'Cancelled' status in my PHB/DMG/MM order.
But I checked my bank account. It shouldn't have been cancelled because of insufficient funds.
In that case, you might want to check in with customer support.
Since they can presumably find out why yours was cancelled and whether that will impact the MM.
Just send a quick "Checking in on my order, making sure I'm getting what I paid for"?
Basically, yeah
I think you can select Order Status as the issue type.
Let them know that your DMG was cancelled, and you want to make sure the same won’t happen with the MM.
Yeah, checked it out this morning, was working perfectly! Tell them i said thansk for their hard work~!
Hello, I was reviewing my players' character sheets since one of them told me that their attacks had changed.
He's using the 2014 monk class but for some reason at lvl 6, his unarmed attack hits 1d8, when it should say 1d6, which is clearly a problem, since he shouldn't have that until lvl 11.
The same problem is repeated in other things, such as in the hit with the quarterstaff, the 1-handed and 2-handed hit appears as 1d8 even though it should be different.
here is the link
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/117214936/Pe6LGc
Despite having selected the 2014 rules when building the character, the characteristics chosen on the character sheet reflect those of the 2024 manual.
I reviewed other characters from even other campaigns and something similar has happened. There are several characters with 2024 problems even though all my campaigns are with characters from the 2014 rules.
i am in a campaign with content sharing and the 2014 player's handbook but when I go to create a monk I can't find way of the shadow subclass
That’s a known issue for monks.
Martial Arts. We don't have a method of disambiguating the Martial Arts granted by the 2014 Monk and the one from the 2024 Monk. As such, all Monks will temporarily match the 2024 Monk's Martial Arts Die until we’re able to fix this.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
Did you select the 2014 Monk class?
It will only show for the 2024 Monk if you have the 2024 PHB.
Oh shit I didn't
Yeah thanks i forgor
Is there a snippet I can use to give half proficiency to certain saving throws on a feat?
You can put {{proficiency/2#rounddown}} in the Snippet field to display the amount to add.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/25930-using-snippet-codes-in-your-homebrew
But if you want to actually add that number to their saving throws, you’d need a Modifier.
- Type: Half Proficiency
- Subtype: Strength Saving Throws
Yeah I read that page and my brain turned to goo. Lol
I tried to make an item with these parameters and it didn't work
Did you have it that way from the start, or did you edit it in after?
Sometimes homebrew edits can take a little while to show up on your character sheet.
But if that’s not the issue, then it’s possible that one just might not work on items.
So if I make it a feat, it should work?
From the beginning, and I haven't touched it in weeks
Yeah, I’d try a pairing it with a feat.
I don’t know if it’ll work, but that’s what I’d try. 😅
Okay, thanks
Hello,
I pre-ordered the 2024 rulebook bundle on dndbeyond, alongside a few other books with the physical + digital bundles.
My PHB was canceled twice, along with all the other books. The new DMG is the first book coming to me, even though I preordered the PHB as well. I still can't reorder the PHB because I've been waiting on support this whole time. Ticket submitted September 27th, still no solution. What gives?
Didn't work as a feat either
Thanks for the assist regardless
Guess I'll just have to do it manually
Funny app
Will grim hallow tranformed come to dnd beyond or was. It only on kick stater?
Oh nvm
It wil be the 12th of this month
yo on dndbeyond im trying to make my spell roll more die on higher spell scale level but it aint workinh
For a regular spell (not homebrew) it should automatically give you more damage at the higher spell level as seen in this screenshot for chromatic orb:
Oops, spam likely has you
well its a hombrew
For homebrew, I’d recommend making a homebrew copy of an official spell that works the way you want. Then you can peek inside and steal its secrets.
Question
Currently doing a campaign with friends (my character is a warlock/cleric tiefling with 3 levels in warlock and 3 levels in cleric), m charisma stat is 17. For some reason the damage modifier for my Eldritch blast is +12 (this is without any customization of the cantrip I never touched it), for agonizing blast it says the added damage is +3 and i wanted to see if there was anything else increasing its damage or if it was just bugged (using dnd beyond)
Can you share a link to your character sheet?
Idk if the sheets public or not
Seems like Agonizing Blast was somehow selected multiple times. (In different browser tabs?)
Should be fixed now, though. I just deselected AB to clear the duplicate.
Did something recently change about access to shared books within a campaign?
Not as far as I know. Why?
Hmm, I seem to have lost access to stuff in my campaign. Will have to ask my DM when they wake up.
First guess would be that their subscription expired.
This is awesome news. I’ve been very interested in that book but need it digital for my players (they won’t even attempt pen and paper)
I just recieved the dms guide 2024 version, but i cant read it. It does say i own it though
What happens when you try to read it?
It sends me to the page where i can buy it
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
It says they are
And it shows the book on that page under Current Product Licenses?
Yes, but says available after november 12, so i guess the digital version will only work after that
Ah, yeah. The book’s currently available in early access for subscribers. Everyone else can access it on release day, next Tuesday.
Hello, I need some help with creating a multiclass character in D&D Beyond. I have the 2024 PHB content and the starting class has all of the correct 2024 PHB options, but when adding the second class only the 2014 legacy options are showing for that class.
Can you share a screenshot?
Never mind, I figured it out. When I clicked on add another class the page opened near the bottom with only the 2014 legacy classes showing on my screen. So, all I needed to do was scroll up to see the 2024 core class options. Thanks anyway!
So for DnD beyond, if I have to unlock things like Chronurgy Wizard and Swords Bard in the character maker I have to get the DIgital editions of the books?
yes
Is it worth it?
depends on your budget and how much youre going to use DDB
Gentle Reminder: this channel is for getting community support with DnDBeyond tools and services
How can I share url on iOS for dndbeyond
Is anyone having issues with adding proficiency to hit rolls for weapons?
Is it possible to make a homebrew feat have a prerequisite feat of another homebrew feat?
hey i have been making a homebrew spell on dnd beyond but i cant seem to figure out how to increase the dice count on the attack dice
Hey my pre-order of the physical DMG was cancelled the other day. They sent me a coupon so it'd be the same price as I initially bought it for but they have yet to give me my money back. What do I do and who do I need to talk to?

Thanks!
good morning from south jersey - i purchased a 2024 PHB as a gift - how do i find the code?
All you gift codes should be listed here.
Just to clarify, if your order was cancelled, it’s most likely because they were unable to collect the payment for it to begin with, in which case there’s nothing to refund.
?tag ddb preorderbilling
When will I be billed for my Preorder?
If you pre-order a D&D product on the D&D Beyond Marketplace or the D&D Store your card will receive an initial authorization in the amount of the full order price, but will only be charged for the digital items and any Physical Items on your purchase which are not pre-ordered. Once the physical items you Pre-Ordered begin shipping to you (usually about a week before the official release so you get it in time), your card will then be charged for those items plus the shipping fees. Any discounts will be split across the payments based on their portion of the total cost. Tax is applied separately to each transaction. For example: If you pre-order a Digital/Physical Book bundle for $59.99 ($79.99 with a $20 Bundle Discount), card will initially receive an authorization for for $59.99 + Tax & Shipping. The final charge on the transaction will be applied as $22.49 + Tax for the Digital content ($29.99 - $7.50 Discount). When the physical book starts shipping, you will then receive a separate charge for $37.50 + Tax & Shipping ($59.99 - $12.49 Discount).
https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/19045445378708-Pre-Order-FAQ
I have receipts showing that I spent that money and it's not in my account so
You may want to double-check your bank records just to be sure.
The charge for the physical book would have happened within the last week.
Yes I was charged on the 5th, and the $48.06 is no longer in my account and hasn't been refunded
Is the transaction finalized by your bank, or still a pending charge?
It says Declined
If it was declined, then there shouldn’t have been any money removed.
And a decline would explain why the order was then canceled.
That means DDB tried to collect the payment and your bank did not allow it. If you’re not sure why, then contacting your bank would likely get you the quickest answers.
Your bank would also be able to verify whether any funds were actually sent.
What kind of issues, specifically? What have you tried already?
But the money was removed, I know because I didn't have much in that account in the first place and so there's no way I could get it lost or anything
I'll do that thanks
I’d recommend finding an official spell that works like yours. When you create a homebrew one, you can select that spell as a template to get an exact copy. Then you can either edit it as needed, or simply see how it was set up and do the same for yours.
Hi there, My entitlements are in sync, but when I try to view some of the magic items, I can't see the description from the Magic Items page.
It certainly isn't all items, just some.
That one’s a known issue.
Thank you for letting me know
Can someone help me with creating a homebrew item. It doesn't seem to be acting how i want it to when i attune it to a character
What did you want it to do, and what is it doing instead?
A gold banded ring which houses a polished emerald crystal. When attuned, the wearer can use an action to conjure ethereal green armor resembling that of a samurai, The armor grants the wearer a flat AC of 17. Additionally, the wearer gains a single casting of the spell Command. The save DC for this spell is 15.
This is all the details for it @uneven lantern
And in what way is it not acting how you want?
It is not changing the AC, nor does it show the command spell under my list of actions
After you’ve created the item, you should see a few new sections there in the editor.
You’ll need to use Modifiers to set the AC, and Spells to add the spell.
I have. I shared it on DND Beyond hombrew. Name of item is Ring of Quick Change, and it is labeled as a rare ring if you want to look at it. IDK what i'm missing
For the record, I’d advise against publishing anything that doesn’t work as expected.
Yeah, i only published it so that you could see it
What did you put for the modifier, exactly?
Set- AC fixed value 17
Set - AC starts with 10 + Dex by default.
So I’d expect Fixed Value to be 7.
Then I’d also try adding a second Modifier with:
- Type: Set
- Subtype: Max AC Dex Modifier
- Fixed Value: 0
Which should hopefully keep it to 17 and not 17 + Dex.
If that doesn’t work, then I’d try making it actual armor instead.
All that said, you might have trouble making those changes now that you’ve published it. You may have to create a new version first.
I have a quick question, whenever i click on display in VTT for a monster it keeps telling me that there isn't one even though I have MAPS open...
The dice rolls say the same thing...
I'm trying to use the stat blocks from the books while running the encounter in maps ... any help?
For some reason, my order for the physical copy of the 2024 DMG has been cancelled ***without ***my permission.

Assuming that’s the case here, you should have also received a coupon code by email that will allow you to re-order at the same discounted price.
How does the media from other sources thing work? As in you aren't supposed to pull property from other media in homebrew?
Yeah. Any published homebrew needs to be your own original creation.
You can’t directly reference anyone else’s creations.
Does anyone know how to make the hoopak work with the new 2024 DnD? I just made a kender in it, but there is no option for weapon mastery with a hoopak.
Because there isnt one
Do you know how to give it one? Every weapon in the PHB has a mastery ability. Is there a way to update a weapon like the hoopak to have a mastery property?
Strangely, DnDBeyond doesn't seem to have an option for homebrew weapons. That's just bizarre
Even homebrewing a magic item doesn't give the option of hoopak as a base weapon
How do I pay the outstanding balance?
Check your email for that coupon, and order it again.
I just got my DMG yesterday, and as I'm going through it, there are quite a few blurry pages. Everything is fine up to the Lore Glossary, then it gets more pronounced and more often.
pgs. 354, 359-362, finally pgs 383-384
You’re referring to a print copy, I take it? Ordered directly from D&D Beyond?
Yes, 2024 DMG ordered from D&D Beyond as part of the Print/Digital package.

ok

Is there a way to homebrew a race so that it has a weapon proficiency that the base race does not?
Copy the old elves and see how thye did it
I just tried that, and don't even see it listed. Is there a "how to" somewhere?
Thats the base race
Ok, how do I copy something other than the base race to look at the weapon proficiencies included?
Ok, I found it. Thanks.

Paladins do not have cantrips normally.
Just following up today with my own experience with the cancelled book. I received my code for a new DMG order Wednesday night placed my order immediately and got my copy this afternoon.
Hope you had similar luck @mint kraken
The character creator says I don't meet the requirments for elven accuracy with 2024 elf
That’s a known issue.
For now, you can disable Feat Prerequisites for that character in order to add it.
I never got my coupon for my players handbook after the bugged launch not allowing me to go through with my physical copy order, but I got it for my DMs guide- is there anyway to fix this despite waiting for the support to reply? its been a month
I having a problem of not able to access Tokens in maps for content/products I have bought for use online at dndbeyound. This should be fixed.
Can you give an example of a token you’re unable to access?
I’d recommend contacting customer support.

What happens when you try to access it?
it shows Greyed out ... not able to use it.
And on that same page, does it show that book under Current Product Licenses?
I bought products before April 2024.
I should have access to anything I have bought
Does that page say your entitlements are in sync? And is that book listed under Current Product Licenses?
how to I click that?
It says: Your entitlements data is in sync! You should have nothing to worry about, but contact our Support Team if you're having problems accessing your purchased content.
And monsters form the Monster Manual ... which to my understanding should be open to all.
Any monsters in the Basic Rules or the Free Rules are automatically available, which includes many (but not all) of the monsters found in the Monster Manual.
This monster is not found in the Monster Manual. You’ll need to have purchased Wild Beyond the Witchlight in order to use it.
Is that book listed on that page under Current Product Licenses?
Sorry. Wrote the wrong book there. 😅
WBTW is the one you need.
it's been a month since I got a reply, is this normal?
Are you saying you submitted a ticket and their last reply was a month ago?
Or that you submitted it a month ago and there’s been no reply?
Hi there, not sure if anyone can help, but I'm playing a level 20 Wizard with 2014 rules and the Signature Spells drop down thing is broken (checked the forum, doesn't look like it's going to be fixed) - I'm trying to figure out how to homebrew a feat that will let me cast my chosen spells once for free but also add them to my spell list but I can't seem to get it to work
Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked and answered a lot based on some comments that I saw on the D&D Beyond Forum. But I didn't see any answers. How can I get the war domain to show as an option for a cleric character? I just bought the 2024 bundle (PHB, DMHB, and Monster Guide--due in the Spring) and subscribed to premium. But it still isn't showing.
I’d recommend checking whether your entitlements are in sync.

You won’t be able to use a feat to add a spell that uses a spell slot, but you could try making a homebrew copy of their subclass and adding it there.
The issues with the class itself have been passed along to the devs already.
is there any workaround about monster pictures/ player avatars not loading? i reset browser cookies and history regularly but 3 days at best and issue return
Some of my backgrounds, portraits, dice, themes, and frames aren't working on PC. Anyone know a fix?
i need help with finding where i can see my digital books i just bought
i'm getting my dndb account setup to share my books w/ folks i'm running a campaign for. so far i've just got the 2024 update editions of the main three books. i'm considering other books like tasha's. are there plans to update those as well at some point, or can I go ahead and get them safely without getting updated soon?
or, i guess relatedly, how much overlap is there with the updated PHB and tasha's. is it still a good buy?
Did you also clear the browser cache? Also make sure you're not using any VPN or browser extensions that interact/interfere with normal DnDBeyond functionality as that can often cause issues.
Try clearing your browsers cache and restarting your browser.

Go to https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources#Sourcebooks and any book you own will have a blue button that says "In Library" if you own it.
omg thanks sos much i was freaking out their
Hi,
I know it may not be the right place to ask, but I'm exhausted by Wizards support center silence.
I've pre-ordered the 2024 versions of the PHB, DMG and MM on August 23 but never received the physical version of the PHB.
For some reason, Wizards tell me told me they can't ship it before the last one is published, but that we could look into canceling the preorder. I've sent an email on october 14th asking to cancel the order but didn't receive an answer since.
I do want to order again all the products but in a way that I can get them delivered before the Monster Manual is published... in february!
All my requests have been unanswered since and I don't know at which door I can still knock to get those books I paid for.
Thank you,

Did you purchase it from D&D Beyond, or from dndstore.wizards.com?
for some reason my card didnt work for the annual renewal and when i try to resubscribe it says im already subscribed but im still locked out of all my characters
sent a ticket but havent heard anything yet
should i just full cancel sub and resubscribe and see if that works?
From wizards since it wasn't possible from Beyond in Canada.
Purchases on that site are given this choice during checkout:
If you chose the second option, that would explain why they’re waiting.
Thanks. I don't remember having that choice or selecting the second option. If that's the explanation, let's hope it's still possible to change it. Or for someone at support to answer.
Ultimately support tickets are answered in the order they’re received, so the exact wait time can vary depending on how many tickets are ahead of yours.
I don’t know the current estimated wait time, but I’ve heard they’re quite backed up at the moment.
Just to confirm, we still get the preorder bonuses for the DMG if we preordered the whole core bundle, right?
question about the marketplace. I see Paypal is an option but is it no longer possible to use Paypal's Pay in 4 option?
How to add a DMPC to a campaign?
Is there something you have to do before you can remove used charges from an item that uses them? Clicking the checked boxes isn't removing them, on the main page or in the editor.
@maiden swift are you in the edit mode of the item? or are you using the item actively? I believe you need to have your character take a rest to remove them if you are in an active campaign.
Resting doesn't seem to be making a difference, and I've tried clicking off the used slots everywhere they're listed on the page to no effect.
Wait, now it did work? I didn't do anything differently, but at least it's settled I guess.
Is it possible for an Option in homebrew content to be editable in-sheet? Or does the player always have to go to Editor to change the option?
I bought Explorers Guide to Wildemount to get the Chronurgy Subclass, but the sheet isnt giving me that option for some reason?
I believe you have to toggle on Legacy for the sheet to access them
That’s currently available only on the 2014 Wizard class, not the 2024 one. You’ll need to turn on both Legacy (for the class) and Critical Role (for the subclass).
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
That's what's bothering. They were answering my first ticket. We exchanged 3 emails on october 14th. Then they suddenly stopped when I replied that yes I'd like to cancel the order to do it again.
Yeah i clear cache too, don’t use vpn, extensions used on other browser though even there they turned off.
Could it be my size of homebrew (around 1000+ entries) that cause issue?
That’s strange. If you’d already started getting replies, I’m not sure why they would have stopped. 🤔
if I have the higher tier sub to DnD Beyond and I purchase the 2024 PHB, can I use Maps VTT and invite non-paying players?
A Master Tier subscription will let you use Maps and invite non-subscriber players, yes.
Purchasing the PHB isn’t necessary to use Maps, but your subscription will let you share the book with your players as well.
Experienced this problem last Saturday, but my players cant seem to get into maps even if I am running a sesson
which is needed for my players to be able to use Non-SRD content, right?
like making a character as well I assume
Buying and sharing the book will give them additional character options for your campaign, yeah.
ok, thank you!
What happens when they try?
They cant even join, some of them said that im not running a session
For the latter, did you hit the red “Start Session” button?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1570-d-d-beyond-maps-how-to-start-playing-today#Session_Controls
For the former, what happened when they tried to join?
Yes, i did press it.
i mean, they cant see that i have a session up, even though the button reads im in a session
hmm, is it possible to add a custom weapon and configure its attack and damage rolls in a character sheet or do I have to create it as a DM?
Other than submitting a ticket (which I did yesterday) is there anything I can do to get some communication about my DMG order? I pre-ordered the big bundle (Digital & physical). The Digital PHB and DMG processed perfectly. the physical PHB arrived on time. My credit card got notified of the next charge/segment 8 days ago and after pending for a week I submitted a ticket yesterday. Today that pending charge has disappeared and I have received ZERO communication regarding my purchase.
Did any of them happen to share a screenshot or anything that would help troubleshoot?
Unfortunately not. Actually, i can probably ask them, therye in the server
You can go to Actions > Manage Custom and set that up.
@wispy aspen @idle arch , sorry to bother you both, but mind helping me elaborate what happened with DDB maps on Saturday?
Trying to figure out the root cause of you guys not being able to join the sesh
Have you checked the order status here?
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?limit=10&refine=dateRange%3D3|years
Oh, thank you so much for that link. I had been to that page but I guess I hadn’t set the filters properly. It shows PHB delivered properly, and Monster Manual “ordered” and pending as expected, and it shows my DMG as Cancelled. Advice? I feel really frustrated because if they don’t reactivate then I think that means I didn’t get all my proper discounts for the big bundle pre-order.
It sounds like the payment failed for some reason, in which case the order for that book is automatically cancelled.
But you should have received a cancellation email…
Plus a followup email that has a coupon you can use to reorder at the same discounted bundle price.
I agree; that is definitely the way it sounds/looks. Although that credit card has plenty of room on it, isn’t expired, etc. so not sure why it would have failed. And the lack of emails is really frustrating. I’m double-checking spam folders now.
I really appreciate your responses. I’m not the “fly off the handle” guy, but I am a guy who feels like I do the right thing so I get frustrated when things don’t work. 🙂
Yeah nothing in junk other than crappy political emails and Viagra ads, 😆
Every time I clicked on "Launch Session" I got a message saying the DM was not hosting a session.
I've noticed the statblocks that appear in the Scions of Elemental Evil adventure arent showing up in either the encounter builder or the maps tool. I dunno if that's just a me issue or if that's intentional or what.
can i just ask, do DYD Beyond support team read what you send them?
I asked if there was a way using there online character sheet to make it so I can add 1d10 to int roll so it happened with just the normal click of the int button on the sheet also pointed out I could not seem to add 1d6 force damage to a sword that gained it as a random property. I also said if this coding / option is not available I understand i just wanted to know if i was missing something.
all I get is we don't help with rule questions... Its not a rule question its a question about the mechanics of there online gaming engine
why do they keep saying its about the rules of the game? I know the rules of the game I want to know about there blooming coding for online character sheets / rolling
this is what we saw on our end. So my guess is you had your maps open, but you didn't "host" the session, whatever that entails. I've never used DDB maps before, so I have no idea what it looks like on your end. Hopefully someone else in this channel might be more familiar with it
Hm i could have sworn i had the session running though, ive turned it on and off quite a few times
I use it and it shows this before i click "Start session" or if I click "Pause session".
The problem was that I did click on start session left it running for a bit, but they werent abel to see anything
Is there any chance you were running the wrong session? Like maybe you had a different campaign selected or something?
knowing my single braincell... cant rule that out
That sometimes happens to me too and I have to refresh my browser and have my players refresh theirs
Hmm. Perhaps ill try again on Saturday
thanks yall for the help, at this point, its more likely it was my singel braincell being itself
Is there any way to add "Any Weapon" as an option in Homebrew Creator?
Is there anyone at dnd specifically who could delete an account
Quickly asking before I log a bug, Way of Mercy is not under the 2024 'Expanded" subclass list for Monk, but if I remember it is also in Tasha's and Astral Self is in there. In the 2014 version of monk it does nicely appear under the Expanded options. Now I have not been following 2024 rules too closely, but is this a bug or is the Way of Mercy just not compatible with the 2024 rules?
The subclass has been renamed to ‘warrior of mercy’ when you look under 2024 monk. It should be under the core subclasses list
Alright that would explain it, thanks!
Is Spelljammer Academy and Light of Xaryxis available in Maps?
Hi all, I've tested the campaign sharing feature with the new phb 2024 and have to report that it isn't working in the character generator tool. Registered an account without a subsciption, provided the campaing login link, accessed this link and started creating a character for this campaign. The selectable classes included only the free rules 2024 ones (and the 2014er ones as the phb 2014 is also shared) and backgrounds are only the ones shown in the image available
Content sharing is set up correctly and I can access the content which is shared (as in I can read it) but it isn't shown in the generator tool. Is this a known issue?

I was wondering what the status of Project Sigil is. I’ve seen some folks have gotten their test codes but I have not, despite signing up for the beta on day one.
I think only "Alpha" folks have gotten codes so far and not "Beta." There is a separet channel you might check out #sigil-vtt-archive
Thanks. Didn’t see it
I am sure this has been reported, but just in case it has not, Elven Accuracy, a feat from Xanthar’s, doesn’t recognize the 2024 PHB elf species as satisfying the prerequisite. You can get around this by turning off prerequisites for feats.
Yeah, that’s a known issue.
how do I make an expanded spell list in dndbeyond?
Thanks.

I have a cleric made in dnd beyond. I have spells prepared and want to download the sheet with only the prepared spells.
If I download the sheet then I get a full list, with even wrong cantrips...
Anyway to only download a sheet with the prepared spells and the correct cantrips
Made a magic item, changed my mind and "un-deleted" it - added it back to my collection. Previously it could be added to character sheets, now it can't - is this a known issue?
Have made a copy which works fine
how do I give my players pre-made characters in dnd beyond?
By adding unassigned characters to your campaign.
You can either open the campaign and click “Create Unassigned Character”.
Or use the campaign’s invite link to add an existing character, then open the campaign page and mark the character as unassigned.
It’s in your My Homebrew Collection? Not just in My Homebrew Creations?
It lists them all so that you can easily change your prepared spells during play.
If you don’t want the extras, you’d have to delete them from the PDF.
Only one version exists. They’re functionally identical to the 2014 version, aside from the addition of Mastery Properties (which a character can’t use unless they have a feature that allows them to).
Remove the level 9 entry under Limited Use (unless the number of uses changes).
Then in Level Overrides below it, add an entry for level 9 that changes the Reset Type to Short Rest.
Ah I see now, thank you
Quick question on how this works in Beyond: is there a way to choose what spell is in an Enspelled item, or is it just down to using the Enspelled item as a base for homebrew and adding the spell that way? If we want it to be actually functional, I mean.
Pretty sure you’d have to homebrew it.
Yeah, I noticed that last night and alerted the devs.
Hey all, I purchased the 2014 Monster Manual a while ago & I was trying to create a new character as a Goblin but the DnD Beyond character creator doesn't show the Monster Manual as a source. Any help is appreciated.
The 2014 Monster Manual doesn't contain any player races.
Monsters of the Multiverse has a goblin race, though.
oh weird, i didn't know that. The campaign I'm currently in one of the players is playing as a Kobold so I assumed he used the Monster Manual for that. I'll check that book out
Kobolds can also be found in Monsters of the Multiverse.
Along with another 30+ options.
awesome, thank you!
how many groups can you join?
Beyond is telling me that all my entitlements data is in sync but I'm not seeing any of the pre-order bonuses for the 2024 DMG in my list of licenses (or on the dice page). Any suggestions?
I don't believe there's a limit.
I don't think they normally appear in Current Licenses.
But I would have expected it there in My Dice.
At the bottom of the list, as "2024 Dungeon Master's Guide Digital Dice".
How long ago did you preorder?
The 2024 Player's Handbook Digital Dice do show up in the list of licenses. I Ordered the DMG on Oct 29, 2024. The last thing showing up on my dice page is the PHB 2024 dice.
And the DMG itself shows in your licenses?
Yes it does.
Strange. If it's been more than a week already, I'd definitely expect them to be there.
☝️ Is anyone else able to see the DMG pre-order dice?
i got the DMG pre-order dice
Thanks!
If that's the case, though, I don't know why it's not showing up for you, Maccwar. 🤔

If i buy my books and am in a campaign for one will i still be able to use the ones i have? or will i need my own campaign thing?
You can use your purchased content anywhere on the site.
thank you!
So how would I go about updating a preexisting homebrew I made?
Like I can't delete the old one if its uploaded
it says I can make a new version however this new one apparently cannot be uploaded
And that’s unaltered from what was already published? 🤔
Nope altered a bit, namely to clean up wording but also add some spells
Maybe its because I added in wrathful smite?
Adding Wrathful Smite would indeed cause that error, yeah.
couldn't I just make a template copy first and then add that? I mean I bought the spell fair and square
If you want to publish it, you can only use spells in the basic rules/free rules.
but I suppose I must respect this rule
You can use it in your own campaigns with that spell, though.
It’s just an issue if you want to publish it to the global community.
ah
is there a workaround for gettting 3rd party content to show up in the character builder? specifically looking for moon domain in a cleric build
are you trying to get it to work for the 2014 or for the 2024 stuff cause tal dori reborn is avilable to purchase on beyond
i have it purchased, im trying to get the domain option to work with a new 2024 char
but i dont see it on the builder as an option, ive checked that 3rd party aand specifically critical role was enabled
3rd party material has not been updated to align with the 2024 updates. They only work in 2014 for now.
ello i hope this goes here um
trying to make an item based off of the Owls of Ga'hoole Battle Claws using the shortsword item and wanted to know how i could add an extra 1d6 to the damage?
Will they be? And does this also apply to stuff made for 2014 content? Like the XGtE. Got that book but the subclasses aren't showing up as a legacy sort of option for 2024 classes.
For any XGTE subclasses that were updated in the new PHB, you’d need the new PHB.
For any that weren’t, you’d need XGTE, and you’d need Expanded Rules turned on for that character.
Thank you, soldier.
I have sort of a weird DDB support request in that it's about the articles side of the house. Specfiically an article appears to have been written, and then updated with new content and excising some old stuff (about Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft). I was trying to figure out how I might find out more about that content - or maybe ask the original author.
Hi, I just bought the physical 2024 phb and the DMs guide bundle and I got charged twice. I was told to try my luck here as I really need it to be released asap
Just today, I was charged the proper $134.47 for the physical 24 phb and the dmg bundle and then there is another charge for $110.47
And both transactions are marked as finalized by your bank?
No, I just bought them this morning so they are still pending. I know it will likely fall off in a few days but I need to see if I can somehow expedite it as I have bills that I gotta pay
Your order history just shows the one transaction, right?
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?limit=10&refine=dateRange%3D3|years
Yes that is correct
That’s strange, then. I’m not sure why it would be showing twice like that.
If you’re looking for a quick solution, though, your best chance might be to contact your bank directly.
Wizard's Spell Mastery and Signature Spells should now work as expected.

@summer hinge@verbal creek@quasi magnet@tropic zephyr@solemn bobcat@green gulch@still current
Slay
Awesome
2014 Paladins should no longer show duplicate options for the 2024 spells.
@flat mulch@hexed tundra
I still can select Absorb Elements (a reaction) as one of the spells though.
Thanks! I'll follow up with the devs on that one.
It seems that spells from the Expanded Rules were not included in the Spell Mastery fix? I can still select Silvery Bards, as another example.
Thank you, works on both the website and the app for me now!
I may be missing something but Im trying to make a feat based on the 2024 Weapon Mastery. And im not seeing where the feat allows you to pick a weapon mastery when I make a copy of the 2024 feat.
Other than the casting time for Silvery Barbs, which I've already passed along, is there some other problem specific to Expanded Rules spells?
Looks like there's a "Weapon Mastery" Modifier Type, but I haven't played with it myself at all.
That modifier just lets you set the mastery but not allow you to chose from a list like that feat does. I was trying to let my players chose from a list but it may be backend magic that is making it work at the moment
That's tight
None. Though it's weird that I'm now seeing Shield being available as a spell mastery option again.
It just doesn't seem like it's filtering by casting time, which I've already passed along.
Yeah, they've got to be some dark magic beyond the reach of us mortals. 💀
They might have a Modifier that we don't.
Or they might be able to add Modifiers to Options, which we can't.
I've also noticed that when making a copy of Weapons Mastery there is a filed labeled "total number of feat options user can select" but when I build from scratch this filed isn't there.
Sounds like they are indeed using some additional Options features, then.
The Spell Mastery feature doesn't have the spells prepared but Signature Spells work like a charm.
I'll pass that long, too. Thanks!
Otherwise, Spell Mastery's list works. It's just the prepared spells part.
is Entertainer supposed to give 4 instruments total?
1 above the dropdown and then 3 within
apologies if this isn't the right channel - are there any sort of digital + physical bundles of XGTE/TCOE/MMM available nowadays, similar to what is available for the three core books? i can't find anything on DDB but i may just not be looking in the right area
heck i guess even just a digital bundle of the three would be fine since i know there is a standalone physical bundle available
Hey all, are certain magic items bugged on ddb currently? I can't access Bead of Force for example "This magic item is part of the Dungeon Master’s Guide (2024) book. You can unlock this magic item by purchasing the book in our marketplace." but I have already bought the book digitally and entitlements are in sync 😕
You're referring to this page, correct?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/9180132-bead-of-force
☝️ Is anyone else with the DMG able to open that?
indeed, this redirects me to the marketplace
I have not found any other magic item that is bugged currently
the link loads fine for me. i wonder if it's some weird bug with scions of elemental evil?
if you try to follow the link from here https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/soee/scions-of-elemental-evil#AppendixAMagicItems does it load properly for you? and if not, are the other magic items listed there also bugged for you? (e.g. boots of elvenkind)
interesting...obviously a bug of some kind but that's good to know
That is indeed good to know!
☝️ Is there anyone else who does have the DMG but does not have Scions? Do you get the same result?
Found another one: Veteran's Cane - https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/9308690-veterans-cane 😄
That one got added less than two hours ago, so there might still be some things pending.
any way to port Kobold Press' subclasses to the 2024 classes?
Not easily
You can make a homebrew copy of it for the old class if you want to see how it was set up.
And then copy it over to a new subclass for the new class.
It’s a fairly simple process, but it takes a little while.
oof
hi. I've been look at looking for dm and I can't type anything in that particular text channel. I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious.
I've been looking at the looking for platers text channel and there seems to be no good campaigns starting at the beginning anywhere.
Check out #find-a-game for instructions.
Will the artificer subclass preppared spells be updated to 2024? I cannot homebrew a class
You can make a homebrew copy of the subclass, though, and change the spells there.
does Monsters of the Multiverse come with the new 2024 species with the advancement system and whatnot or legacy races?
It says "Encounters (beta) calculates difficulty using 2014 rules. For 2024 calculations, create encounters in Maps"
But how do I run encounters inside of maps?
When I start combat it only shows the inititive tracker and not the stat sheets of the monsters I use
There's a separate tab on dndbeyond for encounters
I believe this is the link for it
Yeah I've been using that
But it's really annoying to swap betweeen the two
And now I'm seeing that 8initiaitve order can be used to see stuff in My Maps
But not the statblocks yet
Which is... literally all I need.
If I could just set initiative order, click on a monster while in My Maps
ANd see stat block
All I need
so sorry, I thought I was there
So, with the recent changes to how D&B Beyond allows selection of Source Organization choices should I be disabling the 2014 Core Rules choice for my AL characters given that I should be basing my character choices on the PHB 2024, DMG 2024 and any other allowed non-2014 core rule books - thus I should keep Expanded Rules and Legacy enabled.
Or is there something that is available and legal through the 2014 Core Rules that is NOT somehow available by just using the Legacy source?
Probably a question best asked in #adventurers-league.
do I need to make unassigned characters in my campaigns for my players to be able to make their own guys?
or can they just make their own characters, with the books I ve shared, once they join?
They can create their own characters and use the Campaign invite link to join their characters to the campaign.
Or they can create a character right inside the campaign (and therefore able to access any shared content in the campaign).
Or you can do what you noted and create the character for them and assign it to them (or I should say create an unassigned character which they can then claim).
any chance I could find out which buttons they need to press where so they can make a character using the shared content inside the campaign?
On the DnDBeyond campaign screen there are two buttons: Create Unassigned Character and Create Unassigned Premade Character. They can click the Unassigne Character button to create their character. Once they are done, they can go back to the campaign screen and click the Claim link underneath the character they just created.
can they read the books or is the content only accessible in the character creator?
and thanks for the help by the way
They can use any/all content that's being shared but under the content management section (big blue button up near top next to the campaign invite link) you can disable them from being able to read the book content.
However if the user owns that content, they'd still be able to read the book that way regardless.
oh I mean, lets say they just want to read the PHB to learn the game
I have enabled that book in the content management thing
can they just go to sources - PHB like I can?
Yes they can go and read that content because it's shared with them.
I’d recommend sending them the invite link at the top of your campaign page instead.
They’ll be given an option there to create a new character for the campaign.
I did

This is a quick note to let you know that your request (#4029420) has been received and will be reviewed by our support staff.

Order #3777771 - 11/23/2020 & Order #3565210 - 10/30/2020 both contained "Tasha's Caldron of Everything". Since both of these are digital access, I gain no benefit from the second purchase. I would happily accept a credit on the new 2024 DMG or Monster Manual.
What exactly did you purchase in each of those orders?
And the dates there are correct? This was four years ago?
yes 4 years and hold on
Order #3777771 - 11/23/2020
Name Price
Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything $29.99
Order #3565210 - 10/30/2020
Name Price
Monster Manual (2014) $29.99
Volo's Guide to Monsters $29.99
Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything $29.99
Was one of those made as a gift purchase?
no
I can’t imagine it would have even let you purchase the same book twice, except as a gift purchase. 🤔
how can I find out?
If it was a gift, it would show the gift key here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/my-gifts
well shit
thank you @uneven lantern I had actually bought that as a gift and forgotten
Was the gift key already redeemed, then?
No idea what happened with the ticket, but at least that’s an answer. 😅
I feel like a fool now
Can i still not turn off 2024?
Four years is a long time! Don’t worry about it.
Not sure if there’s a way to explicitly cancel the ticket, but it seems like you safely ignore it.
There is not currently an option to disable it, no.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/30066910
I noticed that my character's ability score increases are now listed under species traits, along with darkvision, fire resistance, and reach to the blaze. This isn't a problem, I was just curious about this change, when it happened etc. Although I will say that I haven't seen this change in different (other people's) character sheets
There were some changes a few weeks ago to how those bonuses are displayed when you click on the ability score.
It might be related to that.
Not sure if this has been asked already, but I had bought the 2014 sourcebooks and I am trying to share them with my group in a campaign. The website says they are shared, but the 2014 options for subclasses don't show up for the character. Only the Thief is available from the Core book and some of the subclasses from a couple other sourcebooks. Is there another setting I need to look at? The character is also set to use the 2014 books.
Did they select the 2014 class?
, not
Is their character assigned to your campaign?
Yeah, that’s a known issue.
As a workaround, you could make a homebrew feat that assigns the spells using your chosen ability.
That was it. They chose the 2024 one, not the 2014. Thanks for the quick response!
Yeah, it’s definitely on the list to be fixed.
i assume this also includes the updated artificer subclasses
Unreprinted optional features from TCE do not appear on 2024 versions
For example, magical guidance do not appear on sorcs. Is this intended?
A certain amount of 2014 optional features is now part of 2024 classes, so it's safe to assume that yes, this is intended.
but it is not reprinted
so it can still be followed right?
On DDB: No.
Is it intended to be used in 2024 classes? I don't think so (but that's just an educated guess)
In your game? Ask your DM.
Hi I need help with my dragonborn sorcerer I built I wanted to know if I did it right. If not what can I do to fix it.
#character-discussion can help with that.
Awesome thanks so much.
@uneven lantern Strangely, Spell Mastery works if the selected spell is prepared.
I can't message in #looking-for-players and #looking-for-dm ... How come? I verified via my mobile phone....
Check #find-a-game for instructions.
Question (On the dndbeyond browser): I am having my players switch to the 2024 PHB for spells and what not. Is there a way to switch class & racial spells to the 2024 edition, or are they locked into Legacy edition until further notice? They do have access to the 2024 PHB through me, by being in my campaign with Content Sharing on.
So is Lessons of the First Ones just not repeatable yet?
Will the original Encounters Tool soon port over to the 2024 rules? Right now it says:
"Encounters (beta) calculates difficulty using 2014 rules. For 2024 calculations, create encounters in Maps."
But the 2024 Maps system is not sophisticated enough for managing battle. It has been guessing too much whereas the original Encounters Tool made everything else.
Is there any easy way to track the differences between 2014 and 2024 rules, as in specifically what has changed rarity or attunement etc. or do I need to manually look for each item and compare it to the legacy one
YouTube likely
You can still use the 2014 version of those feats.
Even on a character otherwise built using 2024 character options.
If you want the 2024 versions of those feats, you’d need the 2024 PHB.
Can anyone help me out with D&D Beyond? I'm really new to the platform and am having a hard time adding a Map from a Sourcebook I own that's in my library
I just bought my 2024 book but dont know how to view it or use the things inside it
I really wanted to use the updated feats and oaths
Can you explain a little more?
You can find your books under the Sources tab in the menu bar.
And you should already be able to add the new feats for any of your characters.
You might want to check if your entitlements are in sync, then.

I see, ty
I'm having a problem with one of my source books, not loading
how would you add natrual armor to a homebrewed race? i did something and it made the AC bonkers, the ac calc is 13+DEX mod but havent really used homebrew maker on dndb before lol
ok, its fixed now
How do I replace what modifier is used to determine the grapple dc for homebrew?
I don't believe you can.
(I'd just have it specify the new DC using snippet code.)
What do I do? I am getting access denied because they believe I am using automation tools except I am not and the error is preventing me from accessing support forum for ddb as well to track down why.
Any help appreciated?
How do I add stats to a homebrew background
I don't see that option. Yet, at least.
Hello, for some reason i purchased Waterdeep on my app on my ipad but on the computer browse it doesnt show i own it? Help?
In a 2024 campaign, how do you add a lineage to a character after the initial creation ? Is it under manage character, then under 2. background?
Species?
One of my players just took the piercer feat, and on their sheet its showing that their versatile weapons have the bonus on their one-handed damage but not the two-handed damage
It was a Kender with a Dhampir lineage : i got it figured out though
Try syncing your entitlements here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Thank you. I will try that
the Sources section of Character Preferences when making a new sheet, for me, has the options:
Homebrew,
Expanded Rules
2014 Core Rules
Legacy
I'm using the 2024 PHB and I know that the 2024 rules work in the Character Creator because of Weapon Masteries being there. But which box controls whether I see those?
Those are always included. (i.e. there is no box)
What bonus are you referring to?
Nevermind, he adding dueling instead by accident and was wondering why he got a damage bonus lol. Thanks!
Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. 😅
i bought that illriger class and its not showing up for me i got the expanded rules on anyone else in the same boat?
synced my stuff too
I assume you’d need MCDM turned on.
i got that on to
No third-party options are included in Expanded Rules.
Are your entitlements in sync?
checked the box for it all the stuff

ah ok it asking for a phone number
any way I can add a character that I've made in My Characters to My Campaign and make it claimable for players?
I forgot to make the character inside of My Campaign
Use the campaign invite link to add the character to the campaign then you can click on unassign.
thanks, worked like a charm
Hi anybody can help me with a little problem i have about spare the dying cantrip not showing on my subclass as a prepared cantrip. It works with a homebrew cantrip but when i try and use a cantrip from the list it just does not wanne work ???
Cantrip of spare the dying
my Homebrew cantrip works fine
only shows homebrew cantrip
Was the spell part of the homebrew from the start, or did you edit it in afterward?
Sometimes homebrew edits can take up to 15 minutes to appear on your character sheet.
it was just a chill touch and i changed it to something els
i cant seem to add spare the dying to prepared cantrip
can i only have one cantrip prepared
FWIW, you probably don't need to set any of these fields:
- Spell Levels
- Spell Class
- Spell School
- Attack Type
- Activation Type
- Spell Range Type
- Range Distance
- Available at Character Level
How long ago were those changes made?
a while ago
Ah, it could be that you've got "Cast At Level" set to 1.
Cantrips can't be cast at level 1.
It's still not showing even now?
only the costum one i made
the normal spell does not show sadz at least i can do it dis way
And these are all in the same class feature?
no its a costum subclass
omg
i worked
i had to just add the spell to the list at the start
TcT
I meant the same class feature within your subclass, like a Domain Spells feature.
Which coincidentally, adding anything to that box will (for a Cleric) have it automatically follow the rules for Domain Spells.
thx so mutch for helpin out :3
do you have a subscription, and if no, do you have 6 characters?
thank you its fixed
Im trying to make a homebrew species that can be medium or small and when I look at other examples like the tabaxi or the Aasimar it tells me that the modifer for is "Size - Choose a Character Size" but when I goto do the exact same on my species, it only gives me size. And the modifier subtype only gives me a list to make me choose one.
How would I go about making them medium or small?
There’s a Creature Size option in Basic Information.
One of the options there is “Medium or Small”.
Yeah. I have the option in basic information set to medium or small.
It is on by default. Deselect Legacy and 2014 Core Rules to ensure you only pick 2024 options.
So choose homebrew
And expanded rules
I would turn off homebrew as well
Any of the older spells that haven’t been replaced by the new PHB are available to use.
Any that were replaced aren’t immediately available in their original forms.
But if there’s one you want to use, you can simply make a homebrew copy and change its available classes.
Ok
I don't believe the expanded rules do anything for the 2024 stuff either.
Turning off all toggles will leave you with only the content in the 2024 core rulebooks.
Adding Expanded Rules will also include the latest iterations of any other official content outside of the core rulebooks.
The species in Monsters of the Multiverse, for example (with one or two exceptions).
For anything that’s had multiple iterations, 2014 Core Rules and Legacy let you access those earlier iterations.
Is there a way to re-select a starting class without removing other class levels?
I don't believe so.
Is there supposed to be a limit for the amount of spells that can be added on a homebrew magic item? It doesn't let me add more than 31.
No idea
But generally speaking, the homebrew tools are built to facilitate the official rules.
If no official item has surpassed that number, then yeah, they may have capped it there.
31 is a very odd number to cap at...
Not in binary.
31 is the highest you can get for a five-bit digit.
Not that I'd know if that the actual reason, but waves vaguely in computers. 😛
Isn't it even more odd that the cap could be determined by that out of all things 😅
Is it just me or are none of the large boxes for writing showing up for anyone?
Like I’m trying to edit the notes in the page for one of my campaigns and they just don’t show up, they’re stuck loading. I tried to edit a homebrew item of mine and the main text box for it wouldn’t show up either.
Seems to work find for me. Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Hi all, I'm trying to add a homebrew class to DND beyond for a campaign with my friends. I've been able to add them as a subclass, but they have abilities that they would normally have access to at level one, but the subclass option locks it out until level 3, is there a workaround?
You could try adding those early features as feats instead.
thank you! Thats such a good idea
hmm but it still has a bunch of actions from the base class, is there any way to delete them?
i'm having a hard time making options for a subclass in dndbeyond but it won't work
can someone help me
Where are you stuck? What have you tried so far?
I’m afraid not.
just list not existing when i tell it to lol
List of what? Doesn’t exist where?
How did you tell it to?
The more specific you can explain things, the better people can help.
So I just got the illrigger class but on the final submit I put down the wrong email by accident and I won't know if i can access the class info until I get home in like 4hours.... will this effect anything or will I be fine?
Idk how to explain it? Really
As long as you were signed in to your DDB account, you should be fine.
Sorry, then. I can’t really give you directions without knowing where you’re at and where you’re trying to go.
i bought the illrigger book but the class isn't showing up in character creation
Hey all! I have a friend who had a character with psionic abilities for a current campaign. Tonight we tried to play and he found his character had been "factory reset." Since there was an extra character, he deleted it without thinking. We've looked into rebuilding the character, but the psionic abilities have disappeared. Any suggestions?
Do you have MCDM content enabled for that character?
Are your entitlements in sync?

What psionic abilities? Disappeared from where?
It was a fighting style under the fighter class in dndbeyond. I think it was a Tasha's cauldron thing
Psi knight, I think
There’s a fighter subclass called Psi Warrior, but there isn’t any such fighting style.
So if you were looking under fighting styles, that would be why.
You’ll also need access to that book. (If it was shared with you before, check that it’s shared with you still, and that your character is still assigned to the campaign that’s sharing it.)
And you’ll need Expanded Rules enabled for that character as well.
I’m just trying to make a list for the subclass but the list won’t show whenever I try to make it
A list of what? How did you try to make it?
What’s the actual rules description for whatever you’re trying to make?
Of options it’s kinda similar to totem barbs list
Have you made a homebrew copy of totem barb to see how that one was set up?
How would do that
When you create a homebrew subclass, just select that one as a template.
Then you can peek inside and see exactly how they did it.
All of my characters in D&D Beyond are gone, Idk what to do, I tried submitting a ticket, but haven't gotten a responce yet, is there anything anyone can think of a possible fix? I can't see them on mobile or desktop. I made sure I was signing into the right account, I'm kind of panicking
Thank you for help I fixed it after looking at totem barb
At the top of this page, how long does it say you've been a member for? Is that how long you'd expect?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
Do you happen to have a saved link for one of those characters?
2019, I think that seems right
I do, I sent it to my DM a while back for them to see it, but the link doesn't seem to work anymore.
Could you share that link here?
Yeah, I get a 404 on that page. I assume you get the same?
Yeah
Did you have any others?
I made like... around 12? But the One's I really care about are about... 5?
Do you have a link for any of those others?
They all come back with error 404's. 😩
Very strange 🤔
Customer support should be able to help you out, though. They're just a little backed up at the moment.
Ultimately tickets are answered in the order they're received, so the exact wait time can vary based on how many tickets have been submitted ahead of yours.
Ok, I really hope so, because I have A LOT of info on all of those 5 characters that I absolutely don't want to lose.
Hey I am a dm in dnd beyond and I own the master tier and the players handbook 2014 I allowed my friends to use the book but they still cant use it anyone knows how to fix it
What happens when they try to use it?
They can open the book but when they want to add a subclass they only se them from the core rule book
Is that character assigned to your campaign?
Yes
Do they have "2014 Core Rules" enabled in their character settings?
What specific subclass are they trying to add?
Are they using the 2014 Rogue (
) and not the 2024 one (
)?
They'd need the 2024 PHB to add the Assassin subclass for the 2024 Rogue.
Yea they uses the 2024 one now it works
Need help with class features homebrew
I'm basically taking the Natrual weapon part of alter self and making it a class feature. The natural weapons show up on the sheet but the +1 won't apply.
I've added each natural weapon as an action as well as add a modifier Bonus>Magic>1.
Isolated issue or have I done something wrong? I'm using 2014
I'm pretty sure Bonus - Magic works only on magic items.
For an Action in a subclass, there's a Fixed Value field you can try.
I assume that'll add to the damage at least, but maybe not the attack roll.
Not sure if there's a viable option for that one.
Other than customizing it directly on the character sheet.
Yeah. We use avrae and the main goal is to at least have ot detect as a magic attack. So I may just have to edit directly on the sheet
TBH, I'd just add the attack directly in Avrae.
That's what I'm thinking I'll do. I just like the automation lol
!a create Claws -b "spell + proficiencyBonus +1" -d "1d6 + {{spell + 1}} [magical slashing]"
Oh wait, proficiency
Thank you friend. You have saved me much time!
Try that
Thank you. So much time is gonna be saved now 😂
All that, and I forgot those +1s, too.
Fixed above
Genuinely appreciate it!
One of our party members had the same issue. Best we can figure is that the rule changes reset the character. We had a level 9 screenshot of the upper portion of their sheet, so we could kind of rebuild the character, but I find it aggravating that a system change would wipe out so many characters. That's what I imagine the overflow of tickets are to dndbeyond
Which, we did find psi warrior and tashas cauldron in the 2014 rules. So if you guys need them, look there
You mean the rule book change? That's pretty dumb. I saw in the email I got for the help ticket said not to delete any characters (Lol)
Wait-
Oh wow, that's really funny, I JUST got an email that my character's were restored. Yup! They're there!
Even like... ancient one's that I purposefully deleted ages ago, lol (For testing purposes)
Oh yay! My friends character was restored as well. I'm glad people are getting their characters back
hello! why dueling isn't here? fighter lv1 (dndbeyond character builder)
Have you already added it for that character?
no
Can you share a link to your character?
do I need to finish it?
No
dueling is listed as a fighting style feat
it shows in the 2014 fighter
do I need to buy something?
Yeah, looks like the four you're seeing are all part of the D&D Free Rules:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/feats#FightingStyleFeats
Since Dueling is not, you'd need the Player's Handbook to access it.
I'm trying to build my wizard, basing it off the little knowledge I have from past experiences, I should be able to add silvery barbs to my character. (Lvl 3) I can't seem to find it in the app. Not sure if it's a higher level skill or I'm just missing something
I see thanks 😦
Do you have the expanded rules turned on?
Yes
And do you own or have the book that its in shared with you?
No but the campaign link I'm part of has quite a few of the books including it
Are you able to access that spell here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/silvery-barbs
No it's part of a different book. Guess my dm doesn't own it. I'll just talk to him about adding it on the side
Strixhaven or something
I haven't got to much into dnd yet to start investing money it. I'm just leeching of one of my buddies to get back into it
can I take Magic Initiate Wizard twice? human and origin feat
book says that I can take it more than once
That's more of a #dnd-rules question - I believe the rule is you can only take a magic initiate feat for a specific type (e.g. wizard) once. But you could then take magic initiate for a different type (druid) later.
Notice how it says "Repeatable. You can take this feat more than once, but you must choose a different spell list each time."
spell list is wizard/druid/cleric?
Correct
Is Oath of the Open sea no longer available in 2024*?
Its third party/homebrew, so they have to ask the creator (Matt Mercer) about it
_
On a seperate topic, does the Maps have named NPCs from campaign books?
If that NPC appears in the list of monsters, yes.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters
Otherwise, no.
So I have a homebrew species I'm making that should be medium or small (player chooses). So under the basic information I have it set to medium or small. Then I made a species trait for size then when I go to making a modifier for that trait, I set the modifier type to size, then the subtype shows gargantuan down to tiny sizes. Nothing that says "Choose a character size".
Am I doing something wrong here?
Do you need a modifier? Is it not enough to just set it under Basic Information?
If the modifier really is necessary, you can use Options to set that up.
One for Medium, one for Small.
Each with the modifier for that specific size.
Im not sure. This is the first species that I've made and I'm just copying how the official species are made like the Tabaxi or the harengon. Which is how they got them set up.
My players are unable to access stuff I have shared with them. Has sharing changed?
Might wanna have them check their entitlements

Do you have a specific example of something they’re unable to access?
Sorry for the Kerfufle, the player had turned off all the options execpt 2024 PHB but before doing that he chose the 2014 version of the class. So, he had a class for which he was not seeing any options.
I have a ddb question about a lvl 1 wizard. Created one on paper with my son for the first time and we came up with a starting HP of 7 (6 + con mod of +1). When transferring to ddb his HP defaulted to 13. I’m curious if I’m reading the pen and paper rules wrong, did I port the character over wrong or is it a ddb glitch? The stats look correct in ddb. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thx!
I’m guessing you set the Hit Point Type to “Manual” before selecting a class, in which case it defaults to 12 + Con.
But you can click “Manage HP” on the class tab to correct it as needed.
(I.E. change the 12 to a 6.)
Would anyone be able to assist in diagnosing why adding a homebrew feat causes the 500 api error?
@uneven lantern I think I do remember making that choice. I’ll double check, but thx for the tip. I like knowing where I goofed, so thx!
Not sure, since a 500 is an error on the server itself.
Is this error happening when you try to create the feat, though, or when you try to add it to a character?
add it to the character
mechanically the feat adds a spell attack doing 1d6 force damage. and a 115 counter for tracking a resource
so i can't think of a reason that the feat itself has some kind of code issue
I don’t think there’s any official feat with a counter that high, so maybe that?
You could try removing that part and see.
could be. i'll give it a try
Just keep in mind that homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to show up on the character sheet.
i was under the impression after a set number it changes from checked box's to a number counter
I have a species trait that provides some extra damage to melee attacks, but the die size scales up as you level, how would I put that into the species?
I have the initial trait made, would I make a modifier, modifier type: bonus, sub-type: melee attacks, die count: 1, die size: 6 (would it then be a comma then the other die sizes, but I can only choose one at a time 🤔 )
