Don't think it was maintenance. Just lots of people trying to dl the new DMG at once.
yeah
I genuinely don't know. I've never heard of that happening before. š
damn.. yeah first time it happened to me too
was wondering if I should just cancel and buy it on amazon...
lol
i'll give it a week... don't plan on running that campaign anytime soon anyways
Where can I get instructions about how all the Magic Item choices in the homebrew MI creator work. Some of them are counter-intuitive and have no instructions on what they do.
i personally watched a couple youtube videos
Is there anyway of converting old homebrew so that it will work with the new classes? Or do i have to redo all of it?
honestly haven't done that yet so no clue
Honestly, the best way to figure it all out is to make homebrew copies of the official items, then peek inside and steal their secrets.
But there's a long post here that goes over things in a bit more depth:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/76031-demystifying-homebrew-updated-with-feats
08/17/20: This guide has been updated to accommodate the new Additional Spell List section.
09/09/20: This thread and tutorial series has been updated with ...
If you're curious about a specific part, though, ask away.
Pretty sure the only choice is to recreate it from scratch.
Or at least copy everything from the old one to a new one.
Thanks, that was a long list and cleared up some things I tried, especially the Modifiers that do not work as intended.
Yeah, Modifiers are funky.
The homebrew tools kind of just present them all from a shared list, but they don't all work on every type of homebrew...
One pro tip, though, specifically for magic items:
If you go to the Magic Items page and open Advanced Filters, "Effect Type" and "Effect Subtype" pull from those same lists.
So you can filter to see which magic items are using any given modifier.
Great idea.
(If you don't get any results, that's an indication that your modifier may not work for magic items.)
Okay, how do I set a spell or ability for use only once per day (or long rest)? I can see how to make a spell use charges and limit the number of charges, but not how to limit it to only one use.
hey is the DM's Guide out now, i see it in my Opera GX browser but i don't see it on my Microsoft Edge
Is there anything that would prevent me ( as DM) from viewing one of my players character sheets within my campaign? The character is set to public š¤
Try clearing your browser cache in edge and restart your browser
Not normally - potentially try clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser.
I have tried it with multiple browsers, some freshly installed so im not sure thats it
could be though
It is viewable on mobile.. hmm
it is viewable in the mobile app* not mobile browser, to clarify
Hmm. i grabbed the char_id from devtools and can manually navigate to the sheet, the link though seems to be bugged, at least for me. oh well. the workaround suffices for my needs š¤·āāļø
thanks
If you want to limit it to once per day, I'd give it a single charge which the spell expends.
(Magic items typically regain their charges daily at dawn.)
What happens when you try to view their sheet?
quick reload of the page
some datadog errors in the console, no apparent redirect in network. just a fast refresh back to the campaign page. just for this player though
i lied (mistakenly) - there is a redirect. its not intuitively connected though. to me anyway
What's the campaign name? And the character name?
I think that's happened before when one of those had a # in it.
Potion of Speed is incorrectly marked as Legacy
it is Elmo's World, Liltina Trickspark (lol) no octos
No response on this: #ddb-support message
Also things like "shield +3" are from BR14 but also shown in filter if only searched from DMG24 book. But armor and and weapons +1, 2, 3 are not shown when searching it with DMG24 filter even if they are in the book.
When searching items in "Manage Inventory" it becomes even more strange.
Many things (even normal, nonmagical weapons with new weapon properties) are linked to BR14.
I own the DMG2024 but i don't own Xanathar's guide to everything... but when i hover over items in the DMG2024 from the implements tables i get that this content is locked away from me and i need to purchase another book.... is this right - or just an error?
That looks like an error! Those were reprinted so you donāt need XGtE.
Trying to get more info from the devs. Everything seems fine in the website. I'm wondering if it was a recent fix that just hasn't been pushed to the app yet.
Watched right now.
The linking seems fixed in the app now.
Also finding the items in "manage inventory" now
King regards ā”
Sent that in for review. Thanks!
it looks like if you multiclass Wizard as second class you don't get the Ritual Adept, Arcane Recovery and Scholar features
One of my players is wanting to play Sea Elf. We are using 2014 rules and I donāt own Tome of Foes. If I bought the book with the new version of Sea Elf in it, would that also give me access to the 2014 version?
No - the Tome of Foes version is superseded by the new version and unless you had the old Tome of Foes, you would not have access to the legacy version.
Buying Monsters of the Multiverse will give you the version included in that book.
Thanks
hey team, with the new rules released im looking for the critical role fighter subclass, gunslinger, but it seems to be missing, even with legacy enabled. is this deliberate or an oversight?
Deliberate but temporary.
Just as a note - youāll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. Weāre working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
Anyone else noticing an issue with Paladin Domain spells?
I get the option to choose them but they should be additional spells known, no?
How do I check on DDB the stuff that I paid/own? I pre-ordered the 2024 DMG but I'm not sure if it actually registered when I redeemed it
Go to Account > Licenses
Thanks
Hi. im a newer dnd player my dm just game me a magic item. a glaive that does and extra 1d4 poison dmage and I was wondering how to roll both for those damage types at once on dnd beyond instead of separately
I think there's no way to do that automatically. The best course of action would be to create a custom attack action so the 1d4 poision damage roll would appear in your list of action as well. Like this:
I've found quite a few entries like this that link to Tasha's or Xanatha's is there a way that i can can flag or give the feedback to a thread somewhere... dont want to keep posting here for each item... i would just be spamming for days ?
Is there a better way to update a homebrew subclass on DDB to 2024 base classes than to rewrite everything from scratch?
Thatās a known issue.
If theyāre all on that same page (Random Magic Items), itās already been passed along. If youāve found any elsewhere in the book, just let me know where!
Iām afraid not
i cant seem to pick mass cure wounds for my cleric
doesnt show up in the spell list
Are you a 9th level cleric? Itās a 5th level spell.
out of curiosity is there a known work around? I know on roll20 you can simply drag spells on the character sheet...don't think I can on dndbeyond
For one of my players, I made a homebrew copy of the subclass and adjusted it myself.
Some 2024 subclasses like "Death Domain Cleric" or "Tempest Domain Cleric" and other ones could need a "Legacy" symbol behind their names. In app its missing phase wise.
Also as question:
Is their a info if/when some third party subclasses (or generell content) will be available for 2024 classes ? Like the "Inquisition Domain Cleric" from the book "Grim Hollow: Player Pack" arent availabe for it (now).
As i know when PHB2024 came ot their was a talk about it, that its planned and DDB/WotC is in negotiation with the developer/creator.
Best Regards
When i go to export a dnd beyond character sheet to pdf, it generates a blank pdf - https://www.dndbeyond.com/sheet-pdfs/Sogrom_134163189.pdf is there a new way to do that now.... i just go to manage, then export to pdf but it doesn't seam to be working today..
When I click on that pdf link you sent it isnt blank for me. It could be something on your end making it blank
That legacy tag is shown only for subclasses that have been replaced by a more recent version. Only one version each exists for Death and Tempest clerics.
The third-party subclasses can only be added in partnership with the parties that own those subclasses (hence the delay).
This doesnāt look like the normal cookie message I see, just wanted to make sure this was safe
dndbeyond will not let me proceed past shipping screen for pre ordering the dmg
Yeah, they just switched to this, so that's what you'll see going forward.
In what way does it not let you? What happens specifically?
Their also exists only one "more recent version" of the "conjuration", "enchantment", "necromancy" and "transmutation" subclasses for the 2024-wizard but this subclasses have a "LEGACY" note. They are also PHB14 releases, same as "Tempest Domain Cleric"
Whats the difference here ? I dont get it š
Legacy is the 2014 version
Trying to order digital copy of Fizban's Treasury of Dragons and it just keeps telling me: Please enter a valid billing address in order to place the order. Am in Canada but never had this issue before. Address is the same one ive used for years but just won't get past that.
Youre gonna want to update/fill in your Province
did that š
Ah, might wanna call your Bank then, i ws encountering the same problem
won't go to order review
Yeah, thats most likely the bank blocking the purchase
righto ty
Legacy refers to any older or outdated content. All of the ones you listed have been reprinted in the 2014 PHB, and thus are now considered legacy
Why is only the Draconic Sorcery subclass showing? I have the other books bought and expanded rules enabled but nothing else shows.
If a more recent version of the subclass exists, the older version of that subclass will be tagged as legacy. This is the case for Life, Light, Trickery, and War.
If a more recent version of the subclass does not exist, it will not be tagged as Legacy. This includes Death, Tempest, and all the rest.
Assuming youve already bought the PHB, you might want to check your entitlements
trying to use Clockwork Soul from Tashas. I still have access to it but the subclass still doesn't show
yeah, i would suggest checking your Entitlements
Do you have Expanded Rules enabled for that character?
Does it say your entitlements are in sync as well?
yea
just a sec
Top part of that page should be
Don't see anything
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
Oh wait, you said Clockwork?
If you've picked the 2024 Sorcerer class, you'll need the Clockwork Sorcery subclass from the 2024 PHB.
If you want to use the TCOE version of that subclass, you'll need to use the 2014 Sorcerer class.
oh
instead of
oh, it doesnt let you use the legacy ver?
I have the PHB bought though
wait nevermind I'm stupid
I have the 2014 ver bought
not the 2024
eh whatever Ill stick to Draconic Sorcery for now
Dont see the difference. The 2024 cleric (with PHB2014 tempest) is same enhanced as a 2024 wizard (with PHB2014 necromancy), no ?
For example both now get their subclass now at level 3 and not at level 1 or 2 anymore. But other features are the same.
So what qualify the 2024 wizard (PHB2014 necromancer) to get the "Legacy"-note, but the 2024 cleric (PHB2014 tempest) to dont get the "Legacy"-note ?
Edit: Btw the 2024 wizard is the only class with "legacy" contented subclasses. Any other 2024 class dont have a "legacy" noted content, even if it is PHB14 or DMG14
Not for any of the ones replaced by the 2024 PHB, no.
ic ic
i take it that will also apply to anything that will be later reprinted, or is it too soon to say?
I doubt it? But I have no idea. š
Hold up. Tempest here is tagged as Legacy.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/2-cleric#TempestDomain
Looks like they applied it to all the subclasses from the 2014 PHB, because the book itself is considered legacy.
So where are you looking? š
You talk about 2014 cleric.
I talk about 2024 cleric
The 2024 Cleric page doesn't show that subclass at all.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/2190877-cleric
So again: where are you seeing this?
This ?
.
Ah, in the mobile app
Yeah.
Thats really confusing š
Next time i write again its a (possible)"app only" thing. Didnt checked it on website cause i thought the app is mirrored by website š
You now see what i mean ? ā” š
Hello everyone. I am a middle school teacher and run my schools TTRPG club. I have some students that are going to start being dungeon masters. Their school computers can't access D&D beyond. š¢ I wanted to make them DM starter kits. I have the Uni and the lost horn adventure and the pregens. I wanted to print them copies of the 2024 free rules so they can learn the rules. Is there anywhere I can get a copy of that PDF for them?
I don't believe there is a PDF available for the Free Rules.
But there's the 2014 Basic Rules which outlines how to play, and the SRD that has more player options.
Thank you. That will definitely work for now. Maybe after the Monster Manual releases they will have a full 2024 version.
I believe that's the plan, yeah.
Are the maps in the DMG gonna be put in Maps anytime soon?
or am i in the wrong area
Two questions:
- Is there a list of known DDB issues in the DMG like there is/was for the PHB?
- Is there a list of actual errata that was made to the 2024 PHB in DDB (as opposed to things that may still just not be working properly)? Because I know there are things that are different and seem like fixes, but it's hard to make sure I've caught all the intentional ones.
Iāve asked the devs!
I havenāt seen any such list for the second.
Thanks. Hopefully we'll get the latter sooner rather than later. Stealth errata drives me a bit nuts
Since it makes it really difficult to figure out what things are supposed to be
I have a subclass that I made for 2014 rules, is there a way to convert it to 2024 without remaking it?
I donāt believe so.
Basically, if a subclass starts at 1 or 2, move it to 3. For clerics, remove their level 8 feature for the 2024 version.
The homepage navigation toolbar doesn't appear for me in Chrome, but it does for me in Safari over the last several months, and through several computer restarts.
I'm using a MacBook Pro, Nov 2023, 36 GB, MacOS 15.0.1 Sequoia.
No change when using Ingognito mode in Chrome.
Try disabling any browser extensions in Chrome - I suspect one of them is breaking something.
Am I forced to use the new rule book when making a character now? Is there a way I can disable it?
Hi! Does anyone know if DDB took away the option to buy individual assets from books? I was trying to buy a sorcerer subclass, but canāt figure out how?
A la carte buying options are no longer available.
Noooo š thatās awfulā¦but ty for answering!
Hello, does anyone know if Dndbeyond legendary bundle discount stacks with promotional discounts?
Good idea.
- I turned off each Chrome extension and refreshed dndbeyond.com after each turnoff...no change
- I turned off all of the extensions, restarted my computer...no change
- I logged out and logged back into my account...no change
- I opened dndbeyond.com in Incognito Mode (which should bypass cookies and cache I think)...no change
I'm sorry to hear that this isn't a known issue, as that means that this will continue to be an issue for me.
if im adopting to the new wizard in a character sheet, how do i keep the spellbook
You keep the spellbook as is. It's marked as a legacy item, but ignore it.
no like, how do i keep the spells there
The spells are independent from the spellbook.
why is bardic inspiration showing up as a first and 5th level feature?
I made a level 3 warrior of the elements monk (goliath) on dndbeyond is there a way to toggle Elemental Attunement on or off as currently by default it's listing unarmed strikes and flurry of blows as 15ft and elemental strikes as 20ft, shouldn't these be 5ft and 15ft by default instead of these higher numbers?
Probably because it changes to short rest refresh at level 5
Why are some 2024 updated magic items findable but their 2014 version not anymore.
Like "Ring Of Protection". Find only the 2024 version but not the 2014 anymore. Not in App, nor in Website in the "Magic Item" section.
Also DMG24 spellscrolls (level 2-9) are not findable in Character "Manage Inventory". Only the PHB24 spellscroll (cantrip and level 1) are.
There will be a number of minor updates made to the magic items from the 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide. Any magic item that did not receive any text update, or received minor text updates (specifically in terms of capitalization and/or minor text/grammar changes). If there was any mechanical updates made to a Magic Item, we've created a brand new version of it for the 2024 rules.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/209691-dungeon-masters-guide-issues-and-support-thread
Ring of Protection is functionally unchanged, so there's just the one item.
Literally the only difference is that it now spells out "Armor Class" instead of using the abbreviated "AC".
Speaking of the DMG, any update on the maps
I've passed along the information. I don't know the status beyond that.
gotcha
Ty very much. Missed that info.
Whats about the spell scroll issue ?
Example of this not seeming correct by default unless I'm misunderstanding
Can you share a link to your character?
All mine show just 5 ft.
And I don't even see a roll called Elemental Strikes. š¤
Ah yeah. If you go to Features & Traits and click Elemental Attunement, there is indeed an option to turn it on or off.
Ah that does seem to fix the first too but not sure why elemental strikes goes up to 20ft and not 15ft
Yeah, that part does seem to be a mistake. I'll let the devs know.
Sadly not a secret monk buff then
, glad to know its just a bug though
So, I just heard back from Support today, and they're telling me that I will receive my physical books after all three are released. I pointed them back to the text on their pre-order page that clearly states, "As they are released, each physical book will be shipped to you free of charge." Now I wait to see how long it takes for them to get back to me.
wtf thats so weird
i feel like I've heard people who ordered the bundle get their phbs/dmgs already
I was told in my email I'd get contacted by a scalefast agent for shipping and that was a week ago and I haven't heard from them
I'm wondering if it's some kind of rule because it's shipping to Canada that is completely buried in small print someplace.
Maybe, I sent a follow up email and if I don't get a response to that soonish I might just try and get a refund for it at this point
cause I got my DMG a few days ago from my LGS with 0 issue and it was a great experience
It's silly, as it's pretty obvious the pre-ordering would indicate that you would like to receive something as soon as possible ... not six months after everybody else.
I donāt want to keep adding to my ticket because I heard that puts you further back in the queue
The best thing I can suggest right now is patience. It took them more than a month to get to my ticket, but they did get there eventually.
Thanks. Not sure why I pre-ordered then. continues my zen meditation
I feel your pain.
Orders on that site are given a choice during checkout: to ship them individually or all at once.
If the second option is chosen, all three books will be sent together once they're all available: i.e. once the Monster Manual is released.
Hi. Trying to get back into DMing after being out of the game for over a decade. I recently purchased the digital copy of āDragons of Stormwreck Isleā. How do I download it onto my iPad, so I can annotate it?
You can download it in the D&D Beyond mobile app, but there isn't really an option for annotating it.
need help with an item i cant change the damage die even though i clicked in replace damage type and put the die i wanted
I suppose it's possible that I checked the wrong box by mistake, but there is no way in heck I would have CHOSEN that one.
what have i done wrong?
The "Replace Damage Type" modifier replaces the damage type, e.g. changes bludgeoning to slashing.
Not the dice.
so witch is for dice?
There isn't one.
You'd probably have more luck creating this as a custom action directly on the character sheet.
the 1d12 then its a lie what i would be able to do?
You can go to the Actions tab and hit "Manage Custom" in the top right corner to get started.
it allows me to add dies tho?
All those fields are always shown.
They're not always relevant to the selected modifier type/subtype, though.
Hello! How can I print a character sheet from D&D Beyond?
Nevermind, figured it out!
can't find Elven Accuracy, it worked fine yesterday.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/135475829
Looks like a bug. Iāll let the devs know. In the meantime, you can add that feat by turning off feat prerequisites for that character.
So I want to add a set amount of uses for an action on dndbeyond per long rest, how do I do that?
I'm talking about something akin to how you can toggle the sorcerer or monk points on and off
When you add the Action, make sure to give it a Reset Type (Long Rest).
Sorry. Out trick-or-treating. š
Hi. I am trying to create a Cleric. I am adding the Hermit background but is not showing the Medicine skill in the dropdown. It should be there according the 2024 handbook. Am I doing something wrong?
Once youāve got the Reset Type, save it, and then look for the Limited Use section at the bottom.
Hold up š Did yall change the items so we have to use the new versions?!
Because quite a few of my items on my 2014 characters do not have the option to use the legacy versions anymore. Like the periapt of poison being suddenly attunment.
Who ever made that descision.. the F was that?!
Only the ones that were functionally unchanged should have been updated.
Which yeah, shouldnāt have included that Periapt.
Iāll let the devs know.
Ahh okay gotcha
One issues I see with not keeping a separate entry is that it make harder to confirm fir certain if something is 2024 only or both version at glance , small feedback is maybe putting back the legacy entry just for ease of legacy tracking or adds some note to those item itās both a 2014 and 2024 item
Like that bit that say from x book in the entry be like 2014 and 2024
So, has there been any word on the Party Wizard?
I need help figuring out how to make spells work
How do I add cantrips and spells and what not on Homebrew?
For a character who doesn't have a class with magic? But they just get in anyways from their racial abilities
After you add a Species Trait, youāll see an option inside to add a Spell.
You can create a homebrew copy of any official species with spells if you want to peek inside and see how it was done.
Is there no longer any way to find "products I don't own" on marketplace?
Hello! I just picked up my DMG 2024 and I see there quite a few maps tracking sheets and one very large map. Are there downloadable versions of the tracking sheets and maps available? I also have the DMG 2024 on Beyond
Yep, those can be downloaded in the Appendix section.
A DMG14 item which doesnt got any text updates exists now only as DMG24 item, correct ?
And a DMG14 item which received changes now exist as DMG14 (as legacy) and DMG24 item, correct ?
Now the issue:
Why does this not also functions with BR14 items which now exists from DMG24.
In the picture i send the "Wand of magic missile" is from BR14 and now got released in DMG24 with 100% same wording. But both exists.
Is it possible to futurely adjust it ? If the core books (BR, PHB, DMG) bring updated versions its kinda weird if "same items by different books (BR14 to DMG24)" co-exists, BUT "same items by same books (DMG14 to DMG24)" gets overwritten and only one item exists.
That looks like a mistake. The legacy one is using the 2024 language when it shouldnāt be.
(The 2014 version allowed you to spend any number of available charges; the new one limits it to a max of 3.)
Hey guys would really appreciate some help
I have created a subclass for the druid, but when i go to character builder i cant see it
I have homebrew enabled and base class of subclass is druid
Are you using the same version of Druid for both?
I dont have 2024 phb, so yea i think im using same druid
A subclass made for a 2014 Druid wonāt be available on a 2020 Ford Druid, and vice versa.
Everyone has access to the new classes courtesy of the Free Rules.
hmm
i made the character before 2024 rules came
and subclass after
so how can i make subclass for 2014 druid?
ohhhhhh
omg that makes complete sense
is on my characte sheet
is on the subclass
how to i convert my subclass to
?
Youād have to rebuild it, Iām afraid.
man
Yeah. It took me a bit to make a 2024 version of a subclass.
can i convert my 2014 druid to 2024?
Yes you can! You might need to make some adjustments, though.
Thatās probably the easier option, yeah.
would be really apreciated if u tell
Iād add the new class (as if you were multiclassing), copy over the choices, then delete the old class.
ohh
aight man
really thanks for the support
Should be fixed!
how would I go about making a feat which doubles the dice for bardic inspiration and spells which apply to allies specifically?
I don't think you can, other than just stating it in the description.
aight
sad
I got a canned response for the second reply, so it looks like I am out of luck until February. I won't be preordering anything from the Wizards store in the future.
damn that sucks
if you have to wait that long it might be worth it to submit another ticket but ask for a refund this time and then just go buy the books locally
or on amazon or something
We primarily use digital versions now during play as they're so much faster to search, but it would sure be nice to be able to pull the physical book to read through while I work on my campaign.
I helped a player create a charachter, myself being the DM.
In their weapons, there is "light" listed. what is this ?
You can learn more about weapon properties here (including the Light property):
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/equipment#Properties
#dnd-rules or #dnd-newcomers can help if you have any further questions about the game rules.
thank you š
Hmm, support sent me another discount code for the physical players handbook.
question what would a tonto be counsidered for a weapon
This channel is for support with DnDBeyond
You could try asking in #dnd-rules, though.
Wouldnt that be more DM discretion?
See if anyone else has made a homebrew version, that would give you some suggestions / ideas
That was already answered in #dnd-rules message using the official rules.
ok
How do I filter out 2024 items when I do a search for something?
is there a way to give a weapon a conditional ability?
I am trying to make one which can inflict fear upon the target failing a wisdom save, but once they are afraid via the weapon said rapier deals 1d4 necrotic damage extra each hit for as long as the frightened condition is active
Is there a way I can recruit people to join my dnd from this server
I do custom dnds like anime based dnd right now Iām gonna be doing jjk so I need players
Yep! Check #find-a-game for instructions.
Does anyone have the link the the entitlements page
?tag ddb missing
Missing Content?
If you're missing something in the character builder, check the following things:
- Your entitlements are synced (Account > Licenses > Account Entitlements)
- The appropriate toggle in the character builder is on to enable the content
- The content is being shared with you from a campaign that your character is not in
If you've confirmed these things, try clearing your cache or logging out and in again.
Ty
How do I put a msg in looking for dm?
Read #find-a-game - it has the info and instructions (hint: start with /looking-for and see what pops up and select between dm, players, community or paid to get the form needed to post to the correct channel)
2014 Players Handbook is suddenly missing from sources. Why??!!!
If you go here (https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources) and filter by "Players Handbook" does the 2014 version not show up?
So If I already have a master tier subscription, I can't get early dmg access, I need to get a new subscription?
If your current subscription is still active and if you've preordered the book on DnDBeyond, you would get early access in DnDBeyond (2 weeks early for a Master Tier subscription).
when does the grim hallow Transformed release on dnd byeond
last thurday it said it would release in about 18 hours
The kickstarter just ended, the estimated delivery is November 2025
Hi all, where is the 2024 moon druid in character creation? I see it in my 2024 digital rules book, and I have a legacy moon druid already. But it's not a druid subclass option in cc.
Are you level 3?
Yes I'm creating at 5th level
I saw something in the ddb forums about moon druid having its own licensing but the post was from the year 2014
Did you purchase the new PHB yourself, or is it being shared with you through one of your campaigns?
Shared characters options are only available for characters in that campaign.
I purchased it myself, I'm the DM with a master tier subscription
My wife's character shows the legacy moon druid successfully applied in our old pre-2024 campaign, and my purchased content shows the 24 moon druid
@edgy oriole The 2014 Players Handbook does show up in your link. A friend also pointed out that clicking "All" will show it as well. Thanks for the help. š

hoping someone could help me with some basic stuff like character creation and understanding the game here. id like to join my work friends in a ādnd 3.5ā session thing but i havenāt touched dnd in years and am not sure where to start.
This channel is for help with DnDBeyond. You probalby want #dnd-elder-editions
Am I missing something on why the custom background isn't showing up in my character sheet?
Give it about half an hour tops. Cache thing.
Thanks! Was just about to message here that it somehow did show up after all
No problem.
Long rest is only restoring half of spent hit dice, not all of them, even for characters completely built with 2024 rules.
Hi, It's me or we cant chose intimidation as Warlock Traits on Charather creation?
Thatās a known issue.
Are you already getting that proficiency from something else, like your species?
Hi, I've just subscribed for a master tier subscription and completely new to DND beyond- I've got a player who is trying to create a warlock character, do I need to buy the players handbook in order for them to have a larger set of options to choose from?
?books
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a DnDBeyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
How do i make a homebrew class
i own ebberon physically and wanna use the artificer for a character
DnDBeyond does not currently have the capability to make homebrew classes, just subclasses.
For 5e24, playing a bladelock, I have a +5 to charisma listed as my charisma modifier on my attributes page. However making a weapon my pact weapon only adds +2 to my hit and damage ratings
On the front end of the sheet, open up the weapon item and make sure the checkbox is checked for pact weapon/hex weapon.
And there's no other overrides?
Nope, since my strength modifier is +3, wouldn't that be the 1d10+4
Usually warlocks use finesse weapons which is dexterity based
So using a two-handed weapon may mean DnDBeyond is using strength and ignoring the charisma bonus
Na, it's working fine.
I'm just being dumb.
I removed my strength modifier which was a flat 1d10 attack, I then made it my hex weapon which added the charisma
Whew! Glad you got it working!
good
Is there a channel here to discuss Beyond Maps?
Im trying to learn how to use it to DM, but still struggling. Maybe someone has resources to learn it?
Is anyone else having issues with the pre-order player handbook for 2024 it says that it was canceled but I didnāt cancel my order. Also I did put a ticket in. Itās just no one responded in the last two weeks.
Thereās an article here that goes over it in depth, but if youāve got any questions, youāre welcome to ask.

It would be nice to have a channel for us to discuss it here, just like project sigil
If you preordered the physical + digital bundle, they charge a portion of the payment at the time of order and the rest when the book is ready to ship. It theyāre unable to collect the remaining payment at that time, the physical book will be cancelled.
When will I be billed for my Preorder?
If you pre-order a D&D product on theāÆD&D Beyond MarketplaceāÆor theāÆD&D StoreāÆyour card will receive an initial authorization in the amount of the full order price, but will only be charged for the digital items and any Physical Items on your purchase which are not pre-ordered. Once the physical items you Pre-Ordered begin shipping to you (usually about a week before the official release so you get it in time), your card will then be charged for those items plus the shipping fees. Any discounts will be split across the payments based on their portion of the total cost. Tax is applied separately to each transaction.
For example: If you pre-order a Digital/Physical Book bundle for $59.99 ($79.99 with a $20 Bundle Discount), card will initially receive an authorization for āÆfor $59.99 + Tax & Shipping. The final charge on the transaction will be applied as $22.49 + Tax for the Digital content ($29.99 - $7.50 Discount). You can leave feedback there in Maps itself if you have any feature requests.
Aha ok. I got the initiative tracker working, but I thought I was missing the rolling option.
So the idea now is for players to roll directly from their sheet and DMs from the Encounter tool?
Yeah, any monster rolls from Encounters or character sheets should appear in the Game Log in Maps as well.
Some of my backgrounds, portraits, dice, themes, and frames aren't working on PC. Anyone know a fix?
How do I change an item's rarity?
wont artificer update the prepared spell list to 2024? i tried rebuilding mine to 2024 and it still follows legacy
is there a workaround to this?
Artificer should be able to select 2024 spells. Only the 'always prepared' subclass spells are legacy versions. You can - if you have bought Tasha's - create a homebrew subclass, copying the one you need, and replace the spells with the new ones. It's quite easy, just try it.
Somehow the 2024 dungeon master book on beyond isn't showing
Oh it's on 12th of November
Nvm
Itās currently available in early access for Master Tier subscribers.
Hero Tier subscribers also get early access starting tomorrow.
Otherwise, yeah, the book will be available on release day, Nov. 12.
Yeah but I forgot I ealry access
i cannot access the subclass in homebrew. do i need TCE purchased? Shared isn't gonna do it?
You need to own it
Or ask the DM of your shared campaign to make that homebrew subclass

Alternatively, you can homebrew from scratch and copy/paste the material shared with you in.
My card was declined for my DMG preorder. I have fixed the issue on my end but I'm unsure if the transaction will be automatically tried again or if I need to submit a ticket.
Actually, I just received an email saying this portion was cancelled. Guess I'll submit a ticket and hope they can get to me quickly.
I submitted a ticket for a refund on 10/23/24 and still have had no response. I also emailed again for update with no response. What can I do?
They're a bit backed up at the moment.
Tickets are answered in the order they're received, so the exact wait time depends on how many tickets are ahead of yours.
They'll definitely get back to you as soon as your turn comes, though.
My player who picked the Blood Hunter class has reached level 3 and is supposed to pick an otherworldly patron, but no options appear? I have bought all options and I'm content-sharing with the player through a campaign
Change your subclass choice to either "Order of the Profane Soul (INT)" or "Order of the Profane Soul (WIS)".
That worked, thank you
For some reason my free rules spells are showing up twice.
Where is that, exactly?
On the known spells list for my paladin
A 2014 Paladin?
Yeah
Seems like that's been reported already, but I'll give them a nudge.
Awesomeness.
I didn't know if it had something to do with me having both the free rules and the 2024 phb
Nah, if you check the spell itself, you can see that it's got "Paladin" listed one too many times.
And I'm pretty sure that's the cause.
As a sorcerer how many spells can I have at level 5 is there too many to have or too little to have? Iām new and am trying to make a character before my next DND game

Hi <@&516370028053004306> idk if PHB 2024 is allowing +3 to a single stat but apparently i can make it.
Also in another topic whom can i reach out regarding a potential event partnership in D&D Beyond?
Please donāt alert the entire moderator team for a non-emergency.
I just created a new campaign on DnDBeyond but I don't see an option to share content. Where did that go? I have master tier subscription through May 18, 2025 but there doesn't seem to be an option to share content when creating a campaign anymore.
Have you already shared to 5 campaigns?
Oh is it limited to 5? That might be it.
They've never enforced a separate choice for those scores. Not sure whether it's a technical reason or a deliberate choice.
As for event partnership, Customer Support can get you in touch with the right people.

Yeah, your subscription lets you activate it in up to five campaigns. If you want to start sharing in a new one, you can stop sharing in an existing one.
Alternatively, someone else in that campaign can activate it, and your books will still be shared (along with everyone else's).
Ah, yup that did it! Thanks!
Should be fixed!
My Fighter drew a card from the Deck of Many More Things that granted him 3 cantrips from any spell list. He doesn't have any spells normally. How do I add these cantrips to his character?
Why was my Pre-ordered DMG from the Physical/Digital Bundle Cancelled for a supposed failed payment??? I PAID 3 MONTHS AGO?!
payment is processed at the time of shipping
ive been making homebrew spells for my wizard, and for some reason new spells i make dont show up to the spellbook
a spell i made on 8/12/24 shows up but stuff i made oct 13 arent
any tips?
Iād recommend adding them through a homebrew feat.
If you double-check your bank records, you should have been charged only a portion of the total at the time of purchase. The rest is charged when the book is ready to ship. If the remaining payment canāt be collected at that time, the order is automatically cancelled.
The other FAQ I looked at didn't say anything about delayed payments. But either way, my payment for the DMG processed an hour and 16 minutes before it was cancelled.
Thereās two wizard classes: the 2014 version and the 2024 one. Did you make the spells available for the right one?
oh my god thats a specific check??? i thought wizard would umbrella everything

And it can't be what I used to pay (Apple Pay Wallet) because my PHB came on time and had no problems.
there probably should be some differentiation between these lol

spent 5 hours agonizing over every spell detail trying to figure out why like 6 spells didnt show up
is it possible on dndbeyond to increase the amount of prepared spell slots for classes like wizard?
like through a feat, an item?
Iām afraid not
Anyone know why I just got an email saying my DMG preorder payment failed?
That's... odd. I have more than enough money to cover the cost.
I have more than that.
Hey you are missing a level 1 aduerture cendale of something is not on the beyond app your missing a lot of them on there
So who do I need to talk to about getting my preorder fixed?
Happened to me too. Cancelled with no warning or opportunity to rectify. TOTAL BS. The card on file isn't even bad/out of date or anything. In fact it has a very high credit limit so that's not an issue either. The transaction shows as "pending" so as far as my credit card company is concerned everything looks good. Just super unprofessional. The "high volume of tickets" banner is also not a good sign. Total crap that we preordered and are getting punished. I should have just bought from my FLGS and not dealt with this garbage.
Same.
Not cool. š
I submitted a ticket but I doubt that is going to get resolved before they ship DMGs. Totally frustrating and not how they should be treating Master Tier subscribers. Like what a crap experience. Now I don't even know if this affects the rest of the bundle...should I just say forget and buy local (what I'd like to do), but I don't want to be ripped off in case they run it again...This is completely unnecessary and avoidable. My guess is their system just couldn't handle the throughput of all these transactions happening at once.
Should I wait, or reach out?
if you have a ticket, wait, submitting another one would put you further down the line
I don't have a ticket. Didn't know I needed to submit one, since I didn't foresee this happening.
otherwise, i would suggest either putting in a ticket or maybe checking your bank. Ive had some purcheses blocked by my bank
The last DDB-related bank transaction I'm seeing is from March.
I just submitted a ticket asking for clarification, and help getting things sorted. Hopefully everything works out.
ācendale of somethingā? Where did you hear about this adventure?
On you tube
I heard it can be so much fun
That is why i what you to sell it on beyond and bring to the shelfās
Thereās no official adventure by that name.
Are you sure
Weāll look for it on YouTube and make it it sound amazing
I would buy it in a heart beat

Can you add it
I am buying one of your books to start
I hope add it all when I am done
Iām not even sure what adventure youāre referring to.
I will find it and tell you
If it was made by a company other than Wizards of the Coast, that company would need to contact D&D Beyond directly.
I found it it called the Citadel dungeon it has a lot of traps and looks super fun can you ask wizzard to make it and sell it
If it's someone else's adventure, they would have to license/arrange it to sell it with D&D Beyond
WotC can't just take it and start selling it
@gleaming burrow @sacred dune I just got e-mails with the same issue as you guys. Don't understand because the card I used is active and same card I use for dndbeyond sub. Also submitted a ticket. I just used this card on Amazon as well, it's working.

Happening to a lot of folks this morning including me. See the thread here

Sounds like thereās something going on. Reached out to customer support already, but judging by otherās experiences, I doubt weāll hear back soon. Gotta love paying for a Master Tier sub and dealing with this BS.
My physical copy mailed yesterday and as far as I can tell will still be delivered. I also still have access to the digital copy. I also got these order cancellation emails this morning.
Came here to see if anyone else got the cancelled email again. Sorry to say Iām glad Iām not the only one. Just woke up to the email saying my DMG order was cancelled had the EXACT same thing happen to my PHB. For those who didnāt have it happen took WotC a couple of weeks of ignoring all their tickets to sent out three discount codes to order the book again at the bundle price.
I got emails yesterday and today regarding the cancellation of my original preordered DMG. But they gave me a code after yesterday's cancellation for a replacement order which shows as "Preparing to ship".š¤ It's gotten to be sadly comical...
Interesting, so Iām going to need to wait for support and then order it again? I can still see the digital book on D&D Beyond. Is that going to be taken away now?
Sucks that I might have to wait weeks after release for something I preordered. Seems like I would have been better off just not preordering and waiting to order it after release.
Did you message support to get that code or did they automatically reach out?
I had to message them. They didn't ever take any responsibility for the issue, but I did at least get a code to get it at the preorder price.
I never lost access to the digital PHB when this happened the first time. When I first preordered for all 6 items a few weeks later they refunded the total amount of the 3 physical books without any notice. I donāt watch my account as close as so should so I wasnāt even aware for a while. Then they are turning those 3 physical books into 3 separate additional purchases 1 before each release. For whatever reason though those purchases are getting immediately declined (some have said itās because PayPal was used for the preorder and they donāt work this way) but there has been no official word from WotC as to the cause so itās all speculation.
āSucks that I might have to wait weeks after release for something I preordered. Seems like I would have been better off just not preordering and waiting to order it after release.ā
This is the same conclusion Iāve come to as well. I will not be making any physical purchases from their site again or preordering anything. Iāve been a big fan of DNDBeyond since I started playing 5E But this fiasco definitely makes me seem them in a different lights. Not just the error but their lack of communication/ownership in regards to it and
Thanks for the insight and sharing your experience. At least it sounds like I might not lose the digital content. Iāve actually noticed similar shenanigans with ordering (I preordered the full 3 book digital and physical bundle back in June). Never had any of these issues with the PHB. But I ordered with a normal credit card which I can guarantee is completely fine in terms of funds, expiration, etc. Like I said, it worked fine for the PHB.
Yea itās clearly just D&D Beyondās system not able to properly handle things which is such a joke given the size of WotC / Hasbro that they canāt even have a functioning online sales system and to back it up their support is practically non existent.
My guess is Hasbro is continuing to cut costs (and corners) wherever possible, keeping the team at D&D Beyond as slim as possible. Such a shame honestly to see a brand and game I love so much be tainted by corporate greed. Iām a software engineer and Iām continuously blown away by how lack luster, buggy, and inefficient the official digital platform is for D&D given the potential and what it could be. Itās very clear Hasbro intends to keep a skeleton crew running things over there now that the books are out.
OK, why are we going through this again?
Short answer: Hasboro sucks
Long answer: Hasboro REALLY sucks
In all seriousness though thereās no excuse as to why we had to go through it the first time let alone again and more than likely a third time for the MM. completely unacceptable
Itās painfully obvious that Hasboro didnāt buy DnDBeyond to properly utilize it. They purchased it so that nobody else could.
I don't understand how it is that it is paid for and shipped, but somehow not paid for and canceled?

Hello! I'm running a 2024 Fighter in a new campaign and want to use Rune Knight from Tasha's as my subclass. I was looking over Rune Shaper as a flavorful feat for my character. I took the Rune Carver Background which is a prereq for the feat. However when asked what spells I want, I get this with no options.
I have to assume it wants the user of this feat to have a spellcasting feature but with the background I have that isn't a requirement. Anyway to sidestep this?
I'd bet that's still set up with Legacy spells, and that you've got Legacy turned off for that character.
that worked. thank you so much! @shy tinsel
My first thought as well
You are correct! Thank you. Wonder if they'll update it eventually
I can pass it on to the devs for review.
Yes! I hadn't noticed that....
We've been told that anyone who has received a cancellation email for the DMG should expect a followup email, likely later today.
Thank you for the follow up!
I am super confused on how the delayed payment/pre-order charge thing works.
The initial charge just doesn't get processed or what?
Both emails I received are from test@dndbeyond.com. But if I go to my Order History, nothing is showing there (and I had previously pre-ordered the 2024 Physical & Digital Bundle).
The order history automatically filters to show only the last three months.
If you placed your order before then, you might need to adjust the filter first.
What happened to me was the following:
I preordered the digital + physical bundle. I was charged the full amount.
Sometime in the following weeks I was refunded the total amount of the three physical books.
They are now charging each individual physical book as it released.
Those payments are being declined for some unconfirmed reason.

And my order history shows that my canceled book was shipped as well....
I read that, and maybe I'm just dumb cause I'm not really understanding. Right now I have two transactions from Wotc, the initial 186 and a 40 buck transaction which I assume is the PHB? This means that there is 220 dollars tied up in holds. Does that mean when the 40 transaction is processed, the 186 transaction will be reduced by 40, even though the the hold on my bank statement shows a transaction for 186?
How long ago did you place your order?
I wouldn't expect that initial payment authorization to last more than a couple days, as typical for any transaction.
I've just never dealt with delayed transactions like this before, so it's all new to more, sorry for my ignorance.
By the time it's finalized, it should have charged only any digital, and non-preorder physical items.
Man, that kind of sucks cause what if I need that money that's being held up?
I know it's not you and you really have your hands tied, but it's just a weird thing.
And now I have to deal with my DMG getting canceled. Uh this whole thing is....a thing...
Same.
I remember this being an issue when the PHB was released too.
Yeah, my PHB never said it was shipped, though. Nor did PayPal show that the transaction was completed.
This time I've definitely paid and supposedly have a book being delivered today while simultaneously being told my order was canceled because payment failed.
I'm more than a little miffed if I'm being honest.
I was wondering if there was anyone who could provide some assistance with homebrew subclasses on D&D Beyond? Every time i try to add optional spells to the subclass it makes them auto-prepared
What do you mean by "optional"? What's the actual text description for the feature you're trying to add?
this is a post by a DnDBeyond community member named IamSposta.
I messaged them directly and they helped out a ton on top of all the general help in their thread.
š Intro & Acknowledgments
Hello,
If you donāt know me, I am Sposta. I know some stuff about homebrewing on DDB. If youāve spent time in these forums yo...
like spells to pick from their spell lists each day, it's for a druid subclass so they have access to them, just don't want to have them be auto-prepared
thank you i will look at this as well
Inside the class feature, there should be an option at the bottom called Expanded Spell List.
Anything you add in there should show up as an available choice when choosing their druid spells.

Um, I got an email saying the order for the DMG physical book canceled.
Thank you. Is there any update for those of us who ONLY received an order cancelled email?
Okay. Just checked my order history. It should be good!
Was that email from orders@dndbeyond.com or test@dndbeyond.com?
And what does it show in your order history?
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?refine=dateRange%3D3|years
i got a cancellation and a payment not successful, both from test@.
but my book is still en route and my order history and entitlements are all good.
test@dndbeyond.com. Why'd you ask?
i think they're trying to track down what system is sending out via that email address
Yeah
It seems like emails from orders@dndbeyond.com are legit, and should match what's shown in your order history.
Whereas ones from test@dndbeyond.com seem to be incorrect.
probably a leftover mx or sendmail record, someone was testing and had that email as a backup or alternate, then forgot to delete it. happens all the time in the IT world
and they probably have multiple servers that can send emails, so tryign to hunt down which one has the offending config file
I can also see my cancellation emails I got came from test@dndbeyond.com. For gmail users this is not immediately apparent since the sender name that shows up still reads as āD&D Marketplaceā
I can confirm though in my order history that the status is not cancelled and is instead āpreparing to shipā. So it does appear the was a testing mistake on the IT side.
Just got a shipping notice followed by a cancellation notice from test@ also
So at least the good news is that it seems like most orders are still being sent as expected.
Shows cancelled along with my original PHB. Order shows all 3 digital books an āin processā MM and a cancelled PHB & cancelled DMG
If anyone's got a cancellation email from orders@dndbeyond.com, you should be getting a followup email later today.
So yeah, yours seems genuine. They probably weren't able to collect the remaining payment, in which case the order gets cancelled automatically.
You should be getting a followup email with a coupon that will let you re-order at the same price.
Okay thank you
Hopefully later today; maybe tomorrow.
So if it has test, don't worry about it?
I'd say trust whatever it shows in your order history, no matter what emails you get.
Cool, so the next mystery is how it's going to make its way from WI to my home in IN by End of Day.
So, this is odd. I got a second email saying "payment failed" and "order cancelled" even though the card I have on file is good, and I have funds in the account. Will they try a third time?
I mean, I'm pretty sure I have a card on file. I haven't done anything to it since the last time I ordered something from DDB.
Oh, wait. The expiration date changed. Does that update automatically?
So, it seems Iām not the only one that got a cancellation email even though I have charges on my account.
The weird thing is, the most recent charge I'm showing from D&D is back in March.
Even though I placed the book order in June.
My Order History is strangely empty. As is all of my information in the Marketplace.
It automatically filters to show only orders from the last three month.
If you ordered before that, you'd need to adjust the filters first.
Or just use this link:
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?refine=dateRange%3D3|years
Ah, thank you! The message about orders before April 2024 led me to believe I was seeing from that time forward.
I'm hoping they'll try a third time to charge my card. I have funds in the account. š
DMG pre-orders weren't even available that long ago.
What does the order status here show?
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?refine=dateRange%3D3|years
Just shows the one book.
I know for a fact that I ordered the digital and physical bundle for the PHB/DMG/MM.
It shows your order has 5 items on it. Click into it?
That can happen automatically if they're unable to collect the remaining funds, but you should get a followup email shortly. That'll have a coupon code that you can use to reorder at the same price.
?tag ddb preorderbilling
When the physical book starts shipping, you will then receive a separate charge for $37.50 + Tax & Shipping ($59.99 - $12.49 Discount).

So, everything's fine, and I will qualify for any preorder bonuses or such still?
You should have the preorder bonuses already.
Except for the ones specific to the Monster Manual.
And what preorder bonuses are there for this?
But you'll get those once they're released as well.
Each individual book comes with digital dice, plus character sheet frames, backdrops, and themes.
Those are added to your account automatically.
... š® YES. ā¤ļø
And then there's a bundle-exclusive dice set and digital art book. You should have received an email with a redemption code for those.
The most recent emails I have are a 'payment failed' and 'cancellation of items' email yesterday (November 4), and then again at 4am this morning.
They started sending those codes back at the beginning of September.
I'm really hoping I didn't screw something up. š
... totally forgot about the dice. Oh, how do we get the gold dragon mini again? Its on sigil, right?
Actually, the gold dragon I think is still pending.
I think they're supposed to send the codes for those once the beta starts.
Are the emails from test@dndbeyond or orders@dndbeyond? if test check your order history directly on the website and see if it says cancelled if orders they should be sending out an email by tomorrow with codes to reorder with discounted bundle price
can I not select my spells and feats in dndbeyond? I don't see the option
Yeah, you can.
If you've got a spellcasting class, you should see a Spells tab on the class page.
ah thank you
Or you can go to the Spells tab on the character sheet itself and select Manage Spells.
what about feats? can I add those in dndbeyond? We get a level 1 feat in our campaign
I have one set of emails from orders@dndbeyond, and one from test@dndbeyond.
If you aren't already given one by your background, you can add that on the character sheet itself.
Under Features & Traits > Feats > Manage Feats.
So, I got double-cancelled. š š¤£
I ordered on Sep 1 and I don't believe I ever received this
Iād verify your orders standing directly on the website and see if itās canceled on there too. Regardless youāll have to wait until they send the email with the code to reorder if you have to. (Iām in the same boat)
Yeah. Looks like the 2024 DMG physical is marked 'cancelled'.
If you ordered during September, you should have gotten it within a week or two of ordering.
But if not, I'd recommend contacting customer support.
Hopefully they get us those codes quickly so we can order it and get it by original release date
Cool, the last time I contacted support it took 42 days for a response
i'm with you @shut hatch
I already have a ticket in with---42 days? Good grief---support.
I too got a cancellation email
I feel you. Six weeks on my last ticket
Yeeaaaah, they're a bit backed up at the moment. š
Was it from test@dndbeyond.com or orders@dndbeyond.com?
Either way, I'd recommend checking your order history for the correct status:
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?refine=dateRange%3D3|years
If it was indeed cancelled, you should get a followup email soon.
Is the follow-up email an invitation to start a Master sub to get access? š
Because that's the email I got.
and the cancel button is removed - but my email
If your order history says preparing to ship, then Iād disregard that cancellation email.
odd though as it is legit payment source and all is good
@uneven lantern I'll take your word for it
This has been 1000 better support than an non-human ticketing system
Not bragging, but... so glad I got the legendary bundle when I did. All of the discounting has saved so much money..
Just a quick question is it possible if I already have the playerās handbook to load it into dnd beyond or do i have to purchase it digitally?
Ok thank you!
psionic spells lets me swap out a spell from the psionic spells list every level, but how do I do that on my character sheet? I don't see the option to remove Arms of Hadar
you would need to copy the subclas and replace the spells you want
in the homebrew maker
Use D&D Beyond's Homebrew creator, and select the Aberrant Sorcery subclass as your template. Then just edit their spell list
It'll only let me select draconic
Ah, I would assume that is because you don't own Aberrant Sorcery. It must be shared with you, correct? You can only create a homebrew copy of subclasses you already own
ah
my dm has all the books which is why I could make it
does he need to do something? Or can't I do it at all?
Your options are:
- Recreate the subclass from scratch in the homebrew creator without using a template
- Use something other than D&D beyond to track what spells you have
- Buy the 2024 Players Handbook
- Wait for the devs to fix this issue (no time frame given)
lol so I can't use the intended subclass features without buying a book?
I'm having a similar problem -- I bought the changeling race separate from the book its in and now i cant use it
might want to check entitlements
?
Account > Entitlements, make sure its synced
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
so I noticed yesterday that I'd been double charged by WotC, today I get the payment failed / order cancelled email, I look at my bank account and I see that one of the payments went through, and the second shows as still pending. so that's fun. š
says it's synced yeah
No, technically you could recreate the subclass from scratch without having to buy it.
This is a known issue, and the devs do intend to fix it. The fact that you have to make a homebrew copy of the subclass at all is just a work-around, which is made easier if you own the subclass and can use it as a template, but that's not required to do this. And doing this at all is not required to play the game.
Ti-Moth was talking to justin. Your issue isn't with entitlements
ohhhh
You'll probably want to make a support ticket for that
i looked in entitlements and it says its synced and i purchased it and i still dont have access to it
if i need to buy the whole book im not thrilled about it but i will
I see the DMG there... that must be a good sign
You shouldn't have to do that. I still have access to the content that I bought a la carte
same here
What are you doing when it says you don't have access? What are you trying to access it through?
i was able to buy many of the player options before they removed it (a la carte)
im trying to select changeling as a race for my character. I have deselected expanded rules. it says the grant type is "purchase." when I go to select a race, I do not find changeling
I got it day 1 and I agree
.
they're found in monsters of the multiverse
is that expanded rules?
yes
np
Core rules are the Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, and Monster Manual. That is it
anything else is either Expanded Rules or Partnered Content
I got one of these emails as well, I found the email confirming my purchase but I canāt find a record of it on the website. I did sync my entitlements but it didnāt fix it.
Check your order status on the marketplace. It filters to last 3 months, you may need to expand the filter to a longer time frame to show your order.
What source book does Druid Circle of Shadows come in. Creating a new character and Don't see that option and pretty sure ive seen it before
how do I set digital dice for my characters? I've done it long ago and forgot how
sounds like grimhollow stuff
are you making a 2014 druid or 2024 druid
anything third party has been left up to the third parties to update for 2024
so we don't know if/when we will ever get updated ones for the new classes
2014 ill check off grimhollow and try again ty
oh it might be ebontide something or other from kobold press
yes there it is ty
Website or App?
website
Or just have your DM make the copy instead
late smh /lh
or is this one of those "A spamandtuna is never late, nor early" moments
oh hmm
all i got then is Collections then Dice
mmm can you not set one per character?
just one on the whole account? womp
i think for that one, you need mobile
Same
So itās a system wide glitch probably right? Would it be ok ya think to wait for them to make a statement/fix it?
I did look through that and couldnāt find it.
I wish I would've got the Archmage's Favor dice back in the day š¦
i wish i had ordered from amazon.
I have two sets of the same emial. One from orders on 11/4 and then again from test on 11/5
Where are you guys seeing this? I received by PHB no issues but I'm not even seeing it or my pre-order anywhere in order history even though I have confirmation e-mail
Same
That seems to be what a lot of people got (I only got the one from orders). I suggest going into your account and finding marketplace change the filter from 3 months to last 12 months and look at your preorder to see if it was really cancelled. If it was they are saying we should get a discount code to order it again for the preorder price by tomorrow.
It's in my order history. https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?limit=10&refine=dateRange%3D1|years
Ok. Change my filters to show the last year, found my order and it says my DMG is being shipped.
So Iām good right?
In theory. š
I preordered on 6/18 lol
the credit card is good, same one for my sub, and I have no bank alerts that flagged this
it just cancelled on me
did not have the same issue with the PHB
I have a double charge on my bank account. And it says on d&d side that my order was canceled.
I have a pending charge of $40.13 which is definitely the DMG from the bundle, but cancelled as seen above in order history
I got a email confirmation of cancellation but in my account it says it's pending for shipping
So it seems some of us are truly getting canceled while others have pending for shipping, meanwhile everyone is receiving the same cancellation e-mails?
I'm curious how many people are double charged as well like me
what in the nine hells lol
Multimillion dollar company possibly a multi-billion dollar company and they can't get their shit straight for a simple release like this
Hey there, I just got an email that my DM Guide preorder was cancelled? I purchased the full bundle months ago and have already received the PHBā¦
24 hours after I got the first emails from orders I got two more emails from test
Welcome to the club
Welcome to club shit show we're all getting the same email
same here, when did you pre-order?
curious if it has something to do with the date
I preordered 6/18, day it dropped, for my birthday lol
August 2nd
I bought the pre-release bundle two or three weeks before the dungeon master tier was about to get the early release of the PHB
is you order history showing cancelled as well or pending for shipping?
Cancelled same as my PHB when that fiasco happened. Hopefully they stay true to their word and that email comes out today or tomorrow with the code to reorder. Iāve triple checked and they havenāt charged my account yet
My order is showing as āshippedā and arriving tomorrow. It seems that I can still open the DMG in the DnDB app as well⦠so not sure what is going on
So you ran into this with the PHB as well, interesting. I had no issue with the PHB, this is chaotic as the abyss lol
You seem to only be suffering from the ātestā email. Annoying but in general you should be fine without anything you need to do
my digital items are fine
Yeah Iām 2/2 more than likely will be 3/3 as Iām already preparing to go through this again with the MM
so assuming that's why we have digital access still
Jeez
Hey folks! Please check your Order History for the correct order status:
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?limit=10&refine=dateRange%3D1|years
If your order shows there as cancelled, expect an email soon with a coupon code you can use to reorder at the same discounted price.
is that process gonna affect our preorder in any way?
I am one of the truly cancelled
Random question. I have to encounters on my campaign right now that just refuses to delete. I have tried to delete these two encounters multiple times and I am not sure what else i can do to get rid of them lol
Your digital book and preorder bonuses wonāt be affected. If you still want the physical book, that coupon code will let you reorder with updated payment info.
Holy shit I have one too. Itās been sitting in my encounters for two years. Itās from a campaign thatās not even around anymore. Youāre the first person Iāve talked to with the same problem
Do they each have a name? If not, try naming them first and then deleting them.
Otherwise, customer service can get those removed for you.
yes they have names i was able to get one to go away but this other one i have been trying to delete since june hahaha
Thank you i will reach out to them. š

I am so happy You and I are not alone lol
It has been driving me crazy since March of 2022. I randomly try to delete it every couple of months since lol
Hey all, hopping on the same order cancelled band wagon, hard to read through the wall of "same with me". I have reached out to DDB regarding the issue with no response. Has there been official communication regarding the issue?
Okay so obviously it's a mass issue right now of everyone getting cancelation email, but I wanna know has others also now been charged THREE TIMES now in the span of a couple days for the DMG....I currently being with held 81 bucks for a book that has already been taken out of my bank account
In summary:
check your account and make sure it was actually cancelled as some people received emails saying it was cancelled when it wasnāt.
If it was cancelled they are sending an email today or tomorrow with discount codes to order again for the same preorder price.
definitely want my physical lol, thanks, bummer that i'll have to wait longer for the physical then I guess
If we get the code today or tomorrow and order it then we should still get it by the release date when we were supposed to get it in the first place
here's to hoping š»
š¤š¤
Confirmed. Thanks! Been pulling my hair out since 7am yesterday. This is stressing me out more than the Election is today. Lol
I feel that lol. I went through the exact same thing with the PHB so unfortunately this isnāt my first rodeo
A blog post explaining what happened would help cut down on all the people freaking out here, on social media, etc.
or just take my money up front instead of staggered over months lol
Agreed. This is the sort of thing that you post on socials saying "Hey, we are aware of the issue. Chill tf out, we gotchu"
Honestly getting fed up with the way some companies want to operate with the "Everything is fine" mentality.
Customer trust is improved through communication and transparency, instead of letting people freak out and form conspiracy theories/rant in the vacuum of information. Like I'm sure there's a dozen clickbait YouTube videos already created, "They have taken your money and ran through this major mistake!" and that's the narrative that's formed because there's not a blog post saying, "Whoops, something happened." Nothing on social media except angry customers. That's not great PR.
I guess this is still a good sign then, though I haven't gotten any shipping notifications or label stuff
whereas for the DM Screen: I got a shipping label/tracking for it
I sure hope its a good sign. Been following along but mine currently says shipped and i have a tracking label and such but still annoying to deal with. Also its pending in my account so hopefully thats a good sign.
hopefully someone from the account team or someone is keeping track and reaching out to anyone with issues (outside of DDB support ticket, which i've done)
I did too but from the site. Test on the email name made it seem fishy to click anything on it
For those that received the cancellation email from test@dndbeyond.com and not orders@dndbeyond.com: They're still isolating the cause, but they are false emails you can safely ignore.
If you have any other unique issue that hasn't been addressed by a moderator please let me know.
Thanks @naive lodge
And what of the two extra pending charges on my debit card? Will those be canceled / refunded, too, since I already paid for the whole bundle back in June?
They should have refunded you the amount of the physical books about a week after you bought the bundle (or possibly just changed the amount you were charged once) they were always planning on charging for the physical books as they were shipped
If they are "pending" charges they should just drop off without actually clearing
Are they holds or actual charges. I do know that some cancellations with the PHB was because the authorization was too old and the banks denied the payment. They may have done an authorization to try beating that.
Currently pending, but after doing some napkin math, it looks like @shy tinsel is correct. Initial charge of around $67, add in the rest, yadayadayada, accurate numbers total out. Looks okay now. Thanks to both of you for dropping my stress levels a bit today!
Just wanted to larify, but if i wanted to get something shipped to Canada, i would use this site, right?
https://dndstore.wizards.com/us/en
I believe so, I think D&D Beyond is currently US-only physical orders.
roger roger
i have the players handbook 2014 but arcane trickster is not showing up in my list of rogue options?
try scrolling down to the bottom under Legacy if you havent
Do you have legacy option selected on the first page of character creation
Looks like you might need to go under your account and resync your licenses. I know when the PHB first came out some people only saw one of the four subclasses available and thatās what fixed it
that was exactly it thank you

Any word for those who received cancellation e-mails from both orders@dndbeyond.com and test@dndbeyond.com? My DMG physical order status is definitively cancelled as well
test email came a day after the email from orders
For that you will need to reach out to customer service.
Ticket was submitted š thanks
I just got an email from dndbeyond saying that a mistake happened and to disregard the earlier email.
Likewise. Good job Support!!!!!!!
Got the same one. Still doesn't solve the problem š¤¦
Same! All's well on my end.
Now I'm frustrated. I know that I pre-ordered the 2024 core books. I've gotten the physical PH and the digital PH and DMG. I, like many, got the cancellation notices. I went to my order history and there's nothing there!!!! What's going on?!?!
Email I just received. Part at the end about actually cancelled orders
Thank you for contacting D&D Beyond Customer Support. We understand you received an email stating that Dungeon Masters Guide pre-order had been cancelled unexpectedly.

@mint kraken I know you were in the same boat as me so I wanted to make sure you saw this.
The default setting on order history is 3 months if you adjust that you should still be able to see your order even if they cancelled it
That did it. Thanks.
@shy tinsel Appreciate it, yeah I just saw that e-mail too. I replied back to it since my order status is still cancelled
Hope to hear back again tonight
I replied back an hour ago (within ten minutes of receiving the email) and havenāt heard anything yet
Question: is the art book and associated dice only for people who bought the bundle pre-phb release?
Is character sharing against the rules here? Just genreal question. I would like to make an echo Knight but don't have the subclass unfortunately
Soliciting for content sharing for purposes other than playing in a campaign together is against the rules.
My apologies. I won't ask again, it was a general question. Thankyou for answering though
Those are available for all bundle preorders up until the release of the Monster Manual.
Though you wonāt get the preorder bonuses for the PHB itself.
Still a week left to get the DMG ones with it, though.
Okay I need someone to explain this to me like I'm 5.
I thought the Master subscription got early access to the books, but when I go to buy the digital copy it says it'll be released on the 12th.
Am I missing something?
If youāve preordered the DMG and have a subscription, you can access the book today.
Just wondering, if I got this from both orders@dndbeyond and test@dndbeyond, do I need to do anything?
You can disregard the one from test.
The one from orders should be accurate, but you can double-check the status in your Order History if you want to be sure:
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account/orders?limit=10&refine=dateRange%3D1|years
If yours actually was cancelled (because they were unable to collect the remaining payment), you can expect to receive a followup email soon. That will have a coupon code that you can use to re-order at the same discounted price.
Will I have missed out on any extra items, or..?
I have the master tier subscription but players in my campaign aren't able to access books I own for some reason
Are their entitlements synced?
How do I check that
I have no idea what entitlements are lol
player has informed me his entitlements are in sync
Home page, scroll to bottom, hit ā Order Statusā > āD&D Beyond Accountā > scroll right on the bar that has āAccountā āProfileā etc. until you see āLicensesā, hit that and you should be able to sync from there.
Hello, when I create a Ranger on D&D Beyond with the 2024 rules and choose the Beastmaster subclass, it takes the stat block for the Beast of the Sky not from the 2024 Playerās Handbook but from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Is this already known?
I'm learning to play DnD 5e and I use Beyond to play. I want to know if the site calculates the barbarian's rage damage automatically. Is there a toggle that you can activate for rage? I couldn't find š
I saw that there is a table that shows how much damage rage adds to attacks, but I never remember to add the bonus
You wonāt lose out on the pre-order bonuses, if thatās what you meant.
Did you enable Content Sharing in that campaign? There should be an option for it at the top of your campaign page.
If youāre using the 2024 Barbarian, yes. You can click on Rage in your character sheet, then enable it in the sidebar.
That option hasnāt yet been added to the 2014 Barbarian, though.
I have the 2024 one
Enable this 'Display as ATK'?
No, itās on the Rage feature itself.
This square is just for marking that I used, but it does not add the damage bonus to my ATK
Here you could have a Toogle showing whether rage is active or not
You need to look at the Rage feature itself.
There is such a toggle, but itās there. On mobile, it says āManage Rage.ā
How would I go about making custom Warlock Invokations?
I found the option here, having to click on this bar to activate the effect. Thanks! But still, activating it does not add the ATK bonus
Now I found where it is. Yes, activated @.@
Thank you very much for the help
I don't think theres an exact way outside of feats that I can tell of
Just to be sure, is there any option to use this skill automatically, according to its description? Or do I need to do the entire process/calculations manually?
Youād have to roll that 1d6 separately.
ok, ty!
I purchased the 2024 three book physical/digital bundle and paid for it as soon as it was available. Now, I have two charges on my credit card from WoTC, both for $40.59. I haven't purchased anything recently, so I'm confused as to what the charges are for. Who do I contact to get this addressed?
?tag ddb preorderbilling
When the physical book starts shipping, you will then receive a separate charge for $37.50 + Tax & Shipping ($59.99 - $12.49 Discount).
https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/19045445378708-Pre-Order-FAQ
Thanks. That's somewhat helpful, although it doesn't explain why there are 2 identical charges for $40.59 when I only purchased one bundle and am only receiving one copy of the DM's Guide.
Both were pending yesterday. One is now final, and one is still pending.
I'm not sure on that one. You may need to contact customer support.

I could use some clarification. Hereās a screenshot taken in 2021 in the character builder of my draconic sorcerer. As you can see it says 7 hp at level 1. But Iām pretty sure the level 1 hp is 9? Can someone tell me what Iām missing, and/or if anything has changed in that regard between then and now. This character is a 2014 character.
Hit Points at 1st Level: 6 + your Constitution modifier
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/6-sorcerer#ClassFeatures
Oh, I see. Thanks!
I'm guessing you're also a Draconic Soul sorcerer, which would account for the other +1.
Not sure, but I do know that as of now my con modifier is +2
Not according to that screenshot, it isn't.
Exactly, that was taken in 2021, today my modifier is +2 rather than 0
Ah yeah, if your CON mod went up by two, your max HP would have gone up by two as well.
Short rest should show your hit dice
well im making a hombrew spell and i cant seem to add a hit dic
Do you mean damage dice?
Hit dice are used to calculate a character's hit point maximum, and can be spent to heal during a short rest.
no like when you want to hit an enemy you roll a hitdice
Hit/DC
So you mean an attack roll
yeah
A spell will use the character's spell attack modifier by default.
What's the actual text description for this spell?
why do you need that
im just looking in the editor for hombrew spells on how to include an attack dice
...to help you?
Your other option is to find an existing spell that works the way you want, make a homebrew copy of it, and see how that was set up.
But if you want a more specific answer, I need more specifics.
You fill a human skull within range with a facsimile of life, commanding it to attack one creature within range. The skull flies towards that enemy and bites them. Make an attack roll, dealing 2d6 damage of a damage type determined by the following table on a hit: Roll a d12: 1 = acid . 2 = bludgeoning. 3 = cold. 4 = fire. 5 is force. 6 = lightning. 7 = piercing. 8 = poison. 9 = psychic. 10 = radiant. 11 = slashing. 12 = thunder. Afterwards, the skull clatters to the ground, inert.
All you need to do for that is to mark the spell as an attack.
By setting "Attack Type", probably to "Ranged".
Just checking in if any of the people who received the cancelled DMG email from orders@dndbeyond.com (meaning it was ACTUALLY cancelled) have received the email with the discount code to order the replacement
I haven't heard of any yet, but I've asked behind the scenes to see if there's an ETA.
Thank you I really appreciate how helpful and forthcoming you have been
So if I pay for a free trial so that me and my friends can experience the game, do my friends also have to pay for a free trial to join my campaign?
No one pays for a free trial, by definition.
But no one needs a subscription to create or join any campaign.
This page describes what you get for either subscription level:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/store/subscribe
Start your first month free with the Hero and Master Tiers of D&D Beyond. Receive monthly perks, access homebrew content and create unlimited characters.
But we want to use the digital map.
Ah! Then yeah, the DM does need a subscription for Maps.
But players donāt need one to join.
Is anyone being charged multiple times for the DMG? I got the bundle package a while back, which I got charged a partial amount. The PHB came out fine later. I've been charged for the DMG now with 2 more pending charges for the same amount. Am I alone in this?
