You can pick that subclass with the 2024 bard.
I have a homebrew feat that gives my character the ability to cast 5.0 levitate at will. I created it a year ago and everything worked, but now the spell no longer shows up under the spells section. Is that a common problem with a known solution?
The custom feat has one entry in the spells section, which is empty besides levitate under "spell", and the checked checkbox "is infinite".
You probably don’t want “Is Infinite” checked.
That allows the player to add an unlimited number of spells through the feat.
Really? Even when it worked it didn't do that.
So how can I make it so that they gain a specific spell at will?
Probably because you gave them only a single choice to take.
Once they’ve run out of available choices, there’s nothing left to add.
Feat spells are automatically set as “At Will” unless you give it a specific number of uses.
i have a question about the character service feature?
Fire away. That’s what the channel’s here for.
so i'm trying to use the character service endpoint to get my characters hp, but it keeps returning unauthorized access attempt (pictured below)
sorry if coding questions aren't allowed
There is no public API for DnDBeyond and things are changing frequently right now as they are developing support for the 2024 materials.
the thing is though, i can use character service for other characters, just not my own
Then it may be your tool is not authenticating correctly against DnDBeyond (for your account).
But again as there is no public API and DnDBeyond does not provide support for this, there's not much else we can do.
trying to make a sorcerer subclass based off of a comic character and its giving me the "This homebrew Subclass does not have the necessary class features with the correct required levels." even though I have stuff at levels 1,6,14,18. Anyone know why?
i can send the subclass sheet if that helps find the problem
its very basic, a first draft sort of thing, i just wanna rid it of errors rn
ill just send it here, if anyone wants to help me find the issue that'd be awesome
nvm i cant share it😭
if someone wants to help ill just join a vc and stream it
Hi all - I own the Spelljammer books (including the Astral Elf and other species from the setting) on DNDBeyond, but for some reason I'm not being given the option to select Astral Elf as my species on the character I'm creating.
It's also not listing Spelljammer as source options on the dropdown list for sources, and I have all options turned on for available to this character.
Is this a known issue? Is there any idea how we can fix that?
I haven't played with homebrew since 2024 released, but my first guess is that it's colliding with the new rules, since sorcerers no longer get feats at those levels (or at least 3 and not 1). I'd suspect there's an option somewhere to toggle between the two rule sets? If that's not the problem I'm afraid I have no idea ;-;
yeah all classes get their subclass at level 3 in the new rule set
so should I just cahnge the level 1 stuff to level 3 and see if that works?
and 4 to 6, but yeah that might solve your problem
Happy to help!
Just adding this to show yes, I do indeed own the Spelljammer content. T_T
Also, I scrolled back through previous questions irt Spelljammer content not appearing, and while for others logging out and back in solved their issue due to it being a recent purchase, I have owned Spelljammer since it released, have made Astral Elf characters in the past, and have attempted log in/log out thrice.
I did find one person who seems to have ghosted without getting the help they needed, #ddb-support message who was having the same problem. In this case, I am able to view the Giff page that was provided by the moderator.
why does a feature show up twice?
are they also identical when you do the drop-down?
I mean the words are the same but the font or size of the text might be a tiny bit different?
probably the same
Then I've got nothin' - I see in that screenshot you're using the 2024 Aberrant, my only thought was if you were using the 2014 aberrant on a 2024 base sorcerer it might make something funky happen but I have no idea.
First off: it won’t be under the Elf parent race. It would show up as its own standalone race under Expanded Rules.
Buuuut I’m betting you still won’t see it there either.
Yeah, it's missing there, too. 😦
Did you purchase the book yourself, or is it being shared with you?
Purchased myself.
If you go to this page, does it say your Account Entitlements are in sync? Does it show that book under Current Product Licenses?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
It says they're in sync but for some reason they're not showing up in the list, only Spelljammer Academy when I Ctrl-F.
How long ago did you buy the book?
Are you able to view that race here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/races/1121694-astral-elf
Back when it was still possible to buy things a la carte, I had originally purchased just the racial section.
yes
I’d expect that to show under Current Product License with “Type: Race Bundle” and “From Source: Spelljammer Adventures in Space” then.
Do you see that purchase here in your order history?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/order-history
(If it helps, the book came out Aug. 16, 2022.)
I don't - and I searched race bundle in the entitlements page and couldn't find one for spelljammer adventures either, so I'm thinking I'm just crazy and didn't... but I'm just confused, then, about why I'm able to view them. Because I'm not in any campaigns except my own, and none of my players own any content on the site (we all just funnel it into my account). and i swear I've played an Astral Elf before.
You could try creating a character in each campaign where Content Sharing is enabled. If you’re able to select it in one of those campaigns, it’s being shared there by someone in that campaign.
But then the only way to find out who would be to ask that group.
Is that a homebrew subclass? If so the person who made it might have accidentally put that feature in twice.
I didn't think it was
What's the subclass called?
I just made an 2024 Abberant sorcerer and it's only showing up one for me. Could it be something from the device you are on?
I see it twice under “At Higher Levels”, but only once when I actually reach that level.
I see the same now that you mention checking it that way
I’ve passed it along for review, but it seems to be just a display issue and not a functional one.
Hey so how come 2014 monk's martial arts die are seemingly scaling like the 2024 version?
It should be 1d6 as of this level and not 1d8
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/134825396
It always says my character isn´t finished and the last arrow is greyed out. Does some1 have an idea?
So I want to host a game and I already have the premium account a i need but it has a lot of problems example if we move our characters in to the fog it won’t go away and we do not understand the combat system.
Martial Arts. We don't have a method of disambiguating the Martial Arts granted by the 2014 Monk and the one from the 2024 Monk. As such, all Monks will temporarily match the 2024 Monk's Martial Arts Die until we’re able to fix this.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
A complete character needs a class, species, and ability scores. You seem to have all three. Are you still unable to view it?
The last thing is greyed out.
ok?
That’s the last page. Hit “View Character Sheet”.
ooohhhh, shame on me
Prob was, it said "next" if i hovered over the arrow so i thought i missed something
The DM can add or remove fog as needed. More info here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1570-d-d-beyond-maps-how-to-start-playing-today#Fog-of-War
What about the combat system are you trying to understand?
If a spawn an enemy do the player fight with him
That’s up to them
You’re telling a story together. The players decide their own course of action.
Yeah but all of us are new
And we are trying to understand how can they attack
???
They say they want to attack, and roll whatever dice are appropriate for the attack they want to use.
#dnd-newcomers can help if you’ve got any questions about how the game is played.
if i have some homebrew spells on a subclass i want to replace with upgraded versions at a higher level, how would i do that?
i tried to make a replacement class feature
but it just dissapeared
How would you use dnd beyond's homebrew creator to create a magic item that affects the monk's save DC (like the dragonbelt hide)?
You can make a homebrew copy of any magic item if you want to peek inside and see exactly how it was set up.
Buuut…
Dragonhide Belt. You can equip this magic item to your character, but it does not currently modify the saving throw DCs for monk features automatically.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/123752-fizbans-treasury-of-dragons-issues-and-support
Oh, well that sucks. Is there any way to work around this?
I’m afraid not
What if I add a +2 to the wisdom modifier, but give a -1 to wisdom checks/saves and to AC? That should mean that the only thing affected by the item are the save DC and the score itself, which shouldn't come into play much. Could that work?
It looks like it worked!
That’ll affect other things that use your WIS as well.
Like a monk’s Unarmored Defense.
That’s why I applied a -1 to AC. As far as I know, with a non-multi class elements monk, the only things affected by wisdom are ability checks, saves, AC, and DC. The first 3 are canceled out so I should be fine
heyhey, im currently making a pc for a cousin whom im dragging into the hobby, and shes a (new rules) tabaxi rogue
for some reason the ability score increases for the race vanish after finishing the character and exiting the editor, and i cant see it again after going back in, no matter how many times i change the race etc
only reason i noticed was because before exiting the editor, she had 20 dexterity (my poor dm dealing with so many insane players😔) and it went down to 18 as i exited editor and entered the character sheet
and now its not letting me enter her character sheet at all (im making it on my account)🤷 never mind this one i hadnt applied her int score oops
ive been experiencing this across all my own characters aswell, and across all platforms
want to know if theres a fix or anything, as i dont want my cousins first experience of D&D to be wobbly or discouraging for her
for the bundle preorders, when do we get the dragon? I was just noticing that I didnt see it in my account like I do the other pre order bonuses?
That’s working as intended, per the rules:
Similarly, species in older books include ability score increases. If you’re using a species from an older book, ignore those increases and use only the ones given by your background.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/creating-a-character#BackgroundsandSpeciesfromOlderBooks
They started sending those by email in early September.
Unless you ordered in the last two weeks, you should have already received it. (Otherwise, it should arrive soon.)
I got the stuff for the digital dice and the art book, just read on the FAQ that the Dragon figure wont come in an email "till later in the fall"
Ah, maybe when the beta starts, then.
Any idea when master tier subcribers get early access to the DMG?
Is there any plans to make it so you can add a spell to a spell scroll?
Hi- Does anyone know if the marketplace sends to your e-mail the recipts for things you have bought on the market place?
So I tried doing this yesterday, and at first it worked, but now it's broken somehow. For example, if I set it to give a -1 to wisdom checks, it instead gives a +2 to everything. Why is it doing this, and is there a way to fix it?
Thoughts on this character?
This is not the place for character discussion. Please use an image hosting service like imagur and share your image of your sheet that way in the proper channel ( #character-discussion)
We just told you how - use a reputable file sharing service and share the link of your character sheet that way in the proper channel.
You have Google Drive? You can put the image there and share a link that way.
I'm probably doing something wrong, but why can't I see dagger +1 etc. in the list?
oh because they don't exist in 2024... for some reason?
i enabled legacy rules and i can see them now
I guess they'll come with next books
OHHHH OK that makes so much more sense, TYSM💙 :D
My Level 14 Monk (2014 Legacy) has their damage dice starting at 1d10 for unarmed strike. Going through the legacy table though, the martial arts die is 1d8 until level 17. It seems to be applying the 2024 Monk table where the martial arts die is 1d10 at level 11. Am I missing something for why my characters hit dice is higher than a 1d8 currently?
They basically said they currently lack the ability to have two different versions of the feature, so they’ve defaulted to 2024 until …. I guess whenever they get around to figuring it out
Alright thanks!
Could I get help with this? How can I give something a negative bonus without it breaking things like this?
Hello! My character was just recently raised from the dead...is there any feature to the D&D Beyond interface where it will automatically track the negative modifiers to my dice rolls until I perform enough long rests to recover from the shock?
Not automatically although you can manually adjust attributes as needed. But you’ll have to remember to remove the manual tweaks later as they wear off
Hello all : using the D&D Beyond app on both android and ios - i seem to be able to have greatswords and shields selected and equiped at the same time so I can use the greatsword and also get the +AC from the shield. Is this actually intended?
I’m playing as a sorcerer barbarian multi class but my unarmored defense prioritizes the 10 from barbarian instead of the 13 from draconic sorcerer. Even when I switched the start class. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is there a rule that stops me from doing this.
It doesn’t limit how many things you can equip.
Can you share a link to your character?
I am not sure why and I have never tried to make a loxodon. But but the character creator shows the other available races from guildmaster's guide to ravnika, just not the loxodon.
I own the rights to the book on marketplace and have all the red toggles turned on the character creator first page as well as making sure. Legacy choices are available in the race category.
What am I missing?
You're also missing the Simic Hybrid and Vedalken. It may be an entitlements de-sync. You have bought the book? (Or have it shared to you through campaign?)
Try going to your Account and check the Licenses tab. At the top, it should show if your license information is synched.
hey there ive just finally created my first char and also a custom pet but i cant seem to be able to add it under extras using dnd beyond any ideas why?
By “custom pet”, do you mean you created a homebrew monster and you’re trying to add it in the Pet category?
yes exactly
Do you have Homebrew Content enabled for that character?
is the character creation webpage broken?
In what way does it seem to be broken?
What page specifically? Can you share a link?
ok one sec
That’s loading fine for me.
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
it loads for a sec
and when i click something it shows the ss i sent
happens on another browser too
i can try another device later
i use brave but i disabled all the ad blocking stuff
i tried edge too
Those both use Chromium. You might try seeing if a non-Chromium browser like Firefox will work.
If you were using Chrome directly, I’d have also recommended trying Incognito mode.
But I’m not sure if Brave or Edge share that feature.
ok i will try other browsers and stuff ty
Yeah, it’s a good way to identify the scope of the issue.
Since it happens in Edge, we know it’s not a problem with Brave specifically.
If it happens in Firefox, we’ll know it’s not an issue with Chromium.
nothings wroking 😦
it used to show that for a sec in brave and for 5 sec in edge before showing the error page
If it happens on another device, will know it’s not an issue with your current one.
So yeah, it could be something related to Chromium.
What that something is, though, I have no idea. 😅
So apparently I to wait until the MM releases to get my books, because I ordered them all at once from the DnDStore instead of separately:
"We appreciate your inquiry regarding the status of your dndstore.wizards.com preorder. A review of your order shows that items with different release dates have been purchased in this order. This means that your product will ship when all items on the order are available to ship. Full details can be found on our FAQ under "When will I get my physical product?".
Unfortunately, we cannot change the shipping options chosen on an order once it has been placed."
Note: The full bundle wasn't available to us outside the US at the time I ordered, so I just tossed all three individual bundles into a cart and bought those. Now I'm getting punished for it.
D&D Beyond what do you mean?????
What do you mean "0 results for 'owlbear'"???????
how can i share my character
That was a link to My Characters (where I see my own characters). Can you send a link to the character itself?
Just copy the link and send that.
oh
You may need to check your Character Privacy settings for that character and make sure it's set to "Public".
yeah thats what i gotta do
it said not enought permission of something like that earlier
bte how can i start a campaign?
i chose a premade campaign and invited my friend in it
but there is no option to statr
thats not how starting a campaign works; DnDBeyond's campaign is mostly for sharing character sheets and content with each other.
Unless you have a Master Tier for maps
People play through discord and voice, Roll20, Foundry, etc etc
Ultimately playing D&D is just a conversation.
hmm i get it a bit but its hard to know what exactly to start and stuff
if you can please tell me a good video playing dnd on discord with sheets etc in dnd beyond
So you and your friend just start talking.
There should be some videos online, and you can always check out #dnd-newcomers
i didnt find any good dnd playthough videos
everything was just like tutorial videos
Look for stuff like Dimension20, or listen to people like GinnyDi
ty 😄
hey guys could you help me out?
I am in a bit of a pickle with a new spell i made for one of my players. I am still very new to all this so sorry if it is a rookie mistake. The problem is that I can't add it to the player's spell list however I can add it to one of the other player's spell list. The player I want to give it to has homebrew enabled we tried disableing it and then reenabling. so i just don't know what to do
my player is a rouge and cleric multiclass with the life domain and the base cleric as well as the life domain is added to the list but still nothing. at this point all the base classes have been added
There's two different versions of Cleric. Did you tag it for the right one?
thanks for the help. i was struggling for over an hour now
Is the DDB support seriously backlogged? I have had a ticket opened for a month now with no response.
Yes they are backlogged. Please be patient - they will answer when your ticket hits the top of the queue. To avoid any further delays or have your ticket closed for non-response, don’t create a new ticket for the same issue and please double check your spam/junk folders for any messages.
Yeah, it’s still just in open status with no activity. Considering this is just another “didn’t get dragon art book redemption email” ticket I am surprised it is taking this long.
If this is a first in first out process, is there any place to see an ETA? Waiting a month with 0 contact is really not a good look
Unfortunately we moderators don’t have any insight on the CS team’s queue or expected response time.
All I can say is that they will eventually get to your ticket and respond
Ok. If it’s really this bad, they should seriously consider some sort of post saying we are working on tickets from x date. So we’re not all wondering, just a suggestion
Is there an official list of D&D Beyond homebrew tags, such as [monster]Kobold[/monster] or [monimg]Kobold[/monimg]? I saw a random post on the forums, but that doesn't seem official.
I could use some help with my D&D Beyond Homebrew spell. I'm trying to link a homebrew statblock, and as a paying customer, I'm praying this is possible.
D&D Beyond offers the ability to link certain aspects on the forum in mouse-over triggered tooltips, such as magic items, monsters or combat actions - ex...
To link to homebrew in homebrew you have to use hyperlinks
I've kind of found a way through someone elses suggestion on the forums.
They suggested copy and pasting the statblock into the spell page, but I get the two warnings at the top.
I do 100% want to publish this, as this is going to be part of a module I'm selling.
If you want to publish it you will have to use things that are avaibale in the free basic rules in your homebrew
This is a homebrew spell linking to a homebrew monster.
The linking to the homebrew monster is what will make it not be able to be published. (From my understanding)
That's what i'm running into, I'm hoping it is possible
I saw that back in 2019, it was on the road map to allow homebrew statblocks in homebrew spells
that was 5 years ago
Anyone can publish their own original work.
(Though publishing it on DDB does make it freely available for others to use on DDB; you won't be able to charge for that access.)
The issue is having a homebrew statblock in a homebrew spell
As the error says, you'll need to remove any links or images before you can publish.
If you've already done so, you can try hitting the main Save button for that homebrew to re-trigger the validation.
I want to do exactly this:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2619105-summon-aberration
Include my stablock in the spell
As long as both the spell and the statblock are your own original work, that's fine.
I can't figure out what the d&d beyond tag code is for including the statblock, seen in this spell above
Have you made a homebrew copy of that spell to see how that spell does it?
Yes
And it's published: https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/4904562-symphonic-guardian
Oh, I'm working on the spell now
I'd wager they just included the statblock directly in the description. I doubt it's dynamically loaded from the statblock itself.
It looks like its just a html table. You should be able to copy the table from that spell and put it into your spell. Then change what needs to be changed
Can D&D Beyond do this for me?
I've had to rely on google to find old forum posts for D&D Beyond homebrew tags / codes because it's not clearly outlined :/
🔗 Intro & Acknowledgments
Hello,
If you don’t know me, I am Sposta. I know some stuff about homebrewing on DDB. If you’ve spent time in these forums yo...
D&D Beyond offers the ability to link certain aspects on the forum in mouse-over triggered tooltips, such as magic items, monsters or combat actions - ex...
A tooltip won't display the statblock itself.
So if you want the statblock displayed directly in the spell, tooltips won't get you there.
I haven't been able to get DDB to make tables for me but copying the stat block from Summon Aberration and putting it in your own spell seems like your best bet. You would also need to change the info in that table after you copy it over.
I tried just that
Homebrew updates can sometimes take 15mins to show
My suggestion for the D&D Beyond dev team is to include a [statblock]Monster Name[/statblock] tag.
Usually once the issue has been remedied in your statblock D&D Beyond will remove the issue.
Like this:
I removed the statblock, hit save
and it now allows me to click share with community (publish)
because the problem was adding the statblock
When I removed the problem, the statblock, it remedied the issues
I took both of these screenshots within seconds of one another
Copying and pasting the contents of a statblock into the spell won't work, I don't think
No it wont. You will have to make a homebrew copy of Summon Aberration and copy the table for that summons stats out of its spell discerption then paste that table into your own spell
I've started to become dissilusioned with D&D Beyond over the past few years that I've held an active description, it's hard to find the help I need
I can try, hold on
To get it formatted just like the spell I would copy the whole discerption then change what you need to change
I got it to copy and paste correctly into the spell, but I have the new warning of external links
The incapacitated link will give that warning
as will that if they arent formatted with Tooltips
Very cool.
I changed out the links with the [condition]Incapacitated[/condition]
It works, but is very clunky:
I kinda wish there was just a [statblock] tag...
Someone should create a D&D Beyond Homebrew wikipedia
I agree it could be a lot better but look on the bright side. It could be a lot worse
containing all the tags in one location rather than scouring Google for those old forum posts from 4 years ago
Thank you for your suggestion @dense viper
They should be Pinned at the top of the Homebrew forum. Thats where I always go to get those links
You're welcome
This is the link to the Homebrew forum. https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules
Discuss and share homebrew creations and house rules
I'm hopping out of the discord for now, gonna get back to work on my module
Hi DnD Beyond staff, why are all monsters removed from being searchable? Only compedium pages, not monster entries?
If you're converting to 5.5e or something please leave the current content up for us to use until you do
I get 35 results for zombie, including the two I'd expect to be at the top.
There was definitely some kind of reproducible outage earlier (I personally reproduced it for Owlbear, Darkling, and Pixie), but it seems to have been resolved.
Changing my character's name on the character sheet hasn't changed it on the campaign listing. Does it take a while to update?
Server caching may mean changes won't show for up to 10-15 minutes. So yeah, that's possible.
Gotcha
Are there any plans to add bulk bundles for purchase?
Anyone good with the dnd beyond homebrew? Wanna play a homebrew bard subclass I found but idk how to properly copy paste it into the new 2024 rules.
The best advice I can give is to make a copy of an existing subclass to see how it's done. Then make changes to match your subclass
Anyone else get a notification from PayPal that D&D Beyond has charged you (in my case for something that was 40-something dollars) - but you've not bought anything (since the 2024 Bundle) - and the order history shows nothing new?
I am at work so I can't log into paypal to see if I was really charged. I opened a ticket, but heard response time was slow. I also posted on the forum and someone there replied that they were just randomly charged 30-something dollars to their paypal as well.
I am assuming it's like a credit check for the DMG to send, but I could swear they already did the full billing?
Yeah, it’s probably the remaining payment for the PHB or DMG, depending on the date.
**When will I be billed for my Preorder? **
If you pre-order a D&D product on the D&D Beyond Marketplace or the D&D Store your card will receive an initial authorization in the amount of the full order price, but will only be charged for the digital items and any Physical Items on your purchase which are not pre-ordered. Once the physical items you Pre-Ordered begin shipping to you (usually about a week before the official release so you get it in time), your card will then be charged for those items plus the shipping fees. Any discounts will be split across the payments based on their portion of the total cost. Tax is applied separately to each transaction.
For example: If you pre-order a Digital/Physical Book bundle for $59.99 ($79.99 with a $20 Bundle Discount), card will initially receive an authorization for for $59.99 + Tax & Shipping. The final charge on the transaction will be applied as $22.49 + Tax for the Digital content ($29.99 - $7.50 Discount). When the physical book starts shipping, you will then receive a separate charge for $37.50 + Tax & Shipping ($59.99 - $12.49 Discount).
May i have a reminder of when the DMG early release is? Cant ever seem to remember it, sorry
You can find it at any time in the server’s events.

Beyond's Sources site doesn't work.
HTTP ERROR 500
What do you mean by “Sources site”? This page?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources
Seems to work for me
Working for me as well.
Yes, that one. Though it seems to work now again.. weird hiccup I guess
and now its just the normal beyond site... I think that might be a problem on my end
Is there an issue with dndbeyond.com not loading properly on Google Chrome? It seems to work with Microsoft Edge for the moment.
Working fine for me
There was some site maintenance earlier. Maybe clearing your cache will fix it?
It's behaving...for now
If i enable in character creation the "multiclass prequisites" i can multiclass as much as i want as long as dont choosed a "ability score method".
Means only when i activate like "point buy" or "standard array" the multiclass prequisite is toggled active.
When i make a character and dont have choosed a "ability score method" i can multiclass as much as i want even if the "multiclass prequisite" is already active.
Would nice to fix it cause player can so multiclass at will (and dont get a info about otherwise) when they follow the recommended steps or character creation (class, then background, then species, then ability scores, then equipment).
I need help getting past this as I don't use automated tools and it keeps thinking I am despite Javascript being active, and all Extensions are disabled. Cookies are on as well.
It interrupted what I was doing
^^^ I'm having this problem as well. Anytime I try saving something on my homebrew item it asks me if I'm human and then shows the "Internal Error" page.
after about 6 times doing it errored then did this
this came back again. Thankfully no errors but why does it keep appearing I am not automating stuff.
Doing it all by hand.
im seeing a new adventuer listed on dnd beyond how do you claim it?
For now, you’d need a redemption key from your local game store (by running a session for them).
But I believe it will be claimable later.
(Much like the Tsojcanth and Uni adventures before.)
I've been having this issue for 4 hours.
also won't let me buy anything.
payment screen just never loads.
am also having this issues now i dont even have any extensions
press and hold is doing nothing
just reloads the same page
It keeps returning for me every so often
it'll go away for a few minutes and then every page I load gets an error box saying "this is our fault not yours" and then the next page I try to load accuses me of being a bot again.
I think there is a bug, that there above confirms it.
Does anyone know if the 2024 Ranger is still bugged on DnD Beyond?
maybe time to roll back what ever update they apply cause it ant working
I am getting errors everytime I save homebrew
it processes the edit but errors immediately after
omg yeah they need to fix this s### as this is ridiculous, 30 errors in the past 5 minutes.
When is the preorder dmg available on the site?
According to the Events it should be available on Oct. 29th for Master Tier subs
For Master Tier, the 29th
Nice! Thanks guys
Bugged in what way? Are you still experiencing those bugs on your own character?
I just know there were some bugs with ranger feats a while back (dual wield), and I thought I'd just check in before I bothered trying to roll one up for a new campaign
Was it a problem with the class or the feat, then?
Or a specific combination of the two?
What was the problem there specifically?
Looks like it's fixed now. It was an issue where when you selected a Ranger feat at 3rd level it wasn't giving you the drop-down menu to select it. It's there now.
I would love some help, I'm trying to run tomb of horrors with some freinds and is there any way that avrea can be used to do combat?
(im a brand new dm
#ddb-avrae-help can lend a hand there (but you could try running !tutorial initiative (DM) to start).
How can I get support with a Wizards store order? I pre-ordered the three 2024 books in a digital + physical bundle, but still have not received my players handbook. I logged a ticket with support 1 month ago, and haven't even had a reply yet. I am getting very frustrated.
Anyone else having issues with "maps" not loading? I keep getting "Something went wrong!"
It's working fine for me. Try clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser.
Yeah i cleared and rebooted. still getting the "Soemthign went wrong!", but only for the one campaign. All others seem to be fine.
Hmmm. Check your browser console (web developer tools -> console).
Are there any red error messages there?
Is it an official map from an adventure or is it an uploaded image?
And randome thought... if using a Chrome-based browser (Edge, Chrome, Opera), do you have more than 4 GB free on your startup drive?
I want to make a weapon for my players that use the 2024 rules, but don't know how to reference the new spells, any guide or idea for this?
Last month I saw that I was able to copy old homebrew classes from the same class, but now it seems like that feature has been removed? I know I can't copy it to a whole new class but if I go back to Cleric Legacy I should be able to find the subclasses under the creation menu right?
So if I was in create a subclass I could go to for Dante Fighter Homebrew and clone it, but for some reason I can't do that anymore?
hello - I am fairly new to Dungeons and Dragons Beyond but some parts of the website are giving me an API error - have only tried making a character using the builder and is taking the website quite a long time to process selections on my digital character sheet
here is a picture of the error I keep getting while trying to made a digital character sheet
Is there an outage right now?
I can still get to the D&D Beyond homepage
not sure if the updates that were performed between 4AM and 6AM PST might be the cause of the issue
It appears the character sheet services are having issues
ah okay
Thanks!
yeah I was not experiencing any website issues till today
many thanks in advance for looking into the issue(s)
Looks like the kobold artificers are looking in to this - thanks for your patience!
When will the character sheet be back up?
Homebrew too :c
Mine says "we rolled a 1 for API"😭
I have no ETA at this time. But as noted, the kobold artificers are looking into it.
Okay
Haha, as a developer, that's a good one
Sorry for laughing btw
Nah, its funny😂
i think it is supposed to be funny 🙂
It also says "check back after a Short Rest"
It's a humorous way to convey "stuff is not working, thanks for your patience while we look into it."
I love it
Is DND beyond down for character sheets? We are trying to run a game. Nobody can pull up characters.
yes
yes
Yes - currently it's being looked at.
if you reload a bunch you might get the character sheet open. just don't try to edit or close the tab.
I mean, the app works... but im sure we all rather have the web lol
Looks like it's resolved! At least in MST! I stand corrected.
CHECKING
website keeps going up and down
ok so not just me
was going to work on some homebrew content - but no dice
We are still down.. 😭
yah I believe the devs and trying to figure out what the issue is
Me too😣 shall wait some more
*are
besides it being down did anyone notice missing content earlier?
yep kind of a bummer too - I wanted to work with all the digital content I purchased
nope
Missing content may be a sign that your entitlements are out of sync.

I even performed a cleaning of my browser data just to see if that would help before I posted about the issue I am experiencing
we wait patiently here
true
Lol. Its our session zero...making characters...lol.
Good chance for everyone to consider downloading PDF's for offline mode in future
It's usually a good troubleshooting step but yeah, this is something a little more deep in the bowels of the arcane gears of the DDB tools and services (I think). The devs are looking into it.
doh. that sucks.
Session zero for us too!
thankies @edgy oriole - figured this may take a while to fix properly
seems like others are having the same issue, character sheets cant load for my entire party, we didnt have the foresight to print/download our stuff, any workarounds?
Well now I have zero characters...
Good lesson for us all to download the pdf. Only issue is those without dice XD
yes but then they can just use a random number generator or other edice
There are tons of fre apps to handle a session zero, and just move everything over later
If folks have their characters on the mobile app, that should still be usable.
Hell, roll dice on Avrae
Mobile app is effected too
Works for me on the mobile app
I would only think the mobile app is effected if you're making updates to a character or creating a new character.
But let me know if you have reproducable steps for issues with the mobile app.
Mobile app is not loading any characters for me, fwiw
My players are able to access characters but they're not the right level
Can you let us know the steps to reproduce the issue?
I can load my character in iOS (iPhone 16), but the long rest button didn't do anything.
It works if you turn data and wifi off
Downloaded the App to try to access Character sheet, and it's not loading
Every time I open the app I can see the characters but when I open it it gets the swords of death
My character works just fine. Just the web doesnt work😔
if you have the little phone symbol that says you had an offline copy
Okay I suspect the mobile app issues are tied to the issues with the website character sheet tools and services. I'm seeing that it's loading slower than expected when I try and view my characters. But it actually does finally load.
Everything on mobile and desktop just refreshed and loaded for me, trying edits now
All we can do is cast Guidance on the devs at this point and hope they roll high.
Don't forget enhance ability
still unable to access character sheets or campaigns on website and mobile app. tried on pc and phone with multiple browsers. do we have ANY response from Support yet?
character sheets are loading fine for us on both ios and android apps. but web ui is a no go
Yeah the devs are still investigating. Hopefully they'll have it resolved soon but I have no ETA.
How is it that there's no status page for this...
They took away my characters😣
Feel free to suggest that in #ddb-feedback
I just moderate here lol
My mobile isn't running the char sheet
Set it to airplane mode
loading issues are restricted to Collections (my dice works fine), Tools, Forums (loads slow) for me. rest on site load quickly
Reloaded page. Got characters back. Cant view still tho
My webapp character sheet is back!
I'll keep a pdf of my sheet just in case from now on...
I did for a moment then lost it on browser but have it on the mobile
Is anyone else having trouble with DnDBeyond?
Can't seem to access my character sheets.
yeah we are having our campaign rn and its not letting me see my character's
Web is working for me
Yes - DnDBeyond character sheets tools and services (and other DnDBeyond services) are having issues right now. The developers are looking into it.
it works now
same here
Yur
les go
"that wasn't the lightswitch to the broom closet!!"
Everytime someone says it's working, I try to load it and it fails
Try clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser.
It may take 10-15 more minutes before everyone experiences a working sheet...
Ignore me, it is working now. lol
Yep, homebrew it's working again n_n
HAH
Looks like things are heading back to normal
Lmao
Nah - it wasn't your dice rolling (likely just a coincidence)
lemme try rq
idk man
it lined up perfectly
That many dice is more likely going to crash your GPU/browser
A lot of that stuff is offloaded to the browser client.
i hit roll (it was on my friends mac pro, m1 i think in chrome) and it stopped working
and all of my friends apps went down
Well, don't do it again! :D
Nah let him cook
Okay well let's keep the channel clear for any other DnDBeyond technical support questions/issues.
Happy adventuring folks!
I have a question. How long is it usually for the support group to get back to someone? I put in a ticket yesterday and have heard nothing. Long story short, I forgot I preordered the 3-book bundle and FOMO ordered a DMG separate as a gift option. I did not gift it, and put in a ticket like 2 mins after the order to ask about a return. Haven't heard much since getting the email that the ticket was recieved.
status?
yeah, 1401 is the limit
From my understanding customer service has a fairly large backlog right now and while they are answering and responding to tickets, it may be a bit before they get to your ticket. I have no insight on what their queue looks like or where your ticket is in that queue, nor do I have an ETA for your ticket, but do be assured they will get to it.
Hmmm, this keeps happening when I try to make a 2024 barbarian subclass since the last month...
Yeah I submitted a ticket too (preorder credit card expiration expired so I need to update my payment method for the order). Got a standard bulk response that didn't apply to my problem. Afraid they are going to start cancelling my 2 remaining hardcovers (DMG, MM) since the payment didn't go through.
Any idea to solve this? (Support doesn't help me at all)
May I request help? my player can't seem to multiclass with 2014 rules
So it WASN'T just me.
I was trying to do it for Barb today
It's not ideal but you can just click create from scratch
If I'm trying to post a DnD Beyond sublcass in homebrew, do I have to follow the exact same features at levels for a class?
Like 3, 6, 10, 14 for Barbarian?
If you want to publish it yes. If you just want your players to use it then no
How long does ddb take to respond to tickets?
Thanks
Read this message from a mod about Customer support. #ddb-support message
Wow its legit only a few messages away. Thanks for point it out to me.
What happens when they try?
They apparently can't seem to, and are pigeonholed into 2024
I will try to further confirm
They may not have scrolled down far enough to get to the legacy classes when they added their other class.
They also need to have the legacy toggle enabled
I can tell them that, make sure all is in order
All my info was fine, and my card got charged accordingly. I just haven't received the book.
Hi - I own the 2024 player's handbook (I can open it and read it in D&D Beyond) but when I try and create a new character I can only see subclasses from the core rules (and expanded rule sources like TCoE, XGtE, SCAG) - is there something I'm missing in the character creator?
Did you purchase the book yourself, or is it being shared with you?
Are you entitlements in sync? 👇

This also happens with one of my own characters. They're just loading infinitely long. No error message, no crashing. It just keeps on loading
OK - it was not showing as in sync, but it is now and I still have the same issue
I purchased the book
However even though I can access the book online and read everything, it's not showing as 'In Library' when I view my marketplace listings
I purchased the Digital + Physical bundle in the UK
But now looking at the Licenses section of my account it doesn't list the 2024 book
Did you apply the redemption code in your purchase confirmation email?
I pre-ordered the 3 book bundle, there was no code in the confirmation email, I've looked through my email and I can see the shipping notification from Wizards of the Coast for the physical book shipment on 13th September, but no email with a redemption code
Ah - just founf the links to get the actrivation key - it's not at all obvious what you have to do!
The email says
But there are no codes in the email!
You have to click on that link to GET the codes!
That's not obvious and very confusing
Hey where's all my stuff?
Where are the tabs to take me to all the classes, all the items, all the monsters, all the spells, etc? Where is my compendium?
What the Hells happened to DDB overnight?
Any chance you can share a screenshot? Because it's all still there as far as I can see.
Well apparently all I had to do was complain to the internet. and now my menubar is back.
Thanks internet!
Everything always works as soon as you give up and ask for help.
Does anyone know if you can set up multiple maps in the ddb map maker? I have a map that the party is using right now but I would like to set up the next one b4 next session?
Yeah, you can.
How do I "get back" to the map they are using after?
Just click the map icon at the top of the toolbar and reselect the previous map.
For example, here I've got two maps I've added. I can click either one to switch between them.
Awesome, thank you! I thought those were layers not different maps.
Can you still build a character in D&DB using only the 2014 ruleset? I see the option to exclude legacy rules, but not one to exclude the 2024 rules.
There is not a way to exclude 2024 rules.
its one of those cases use what you want (2024 wise), in your game. Just know that you can't turn off those options.
Is this the wrong place to ask about book preorder issues?
Might depend on the specific issue.
Well okay, so I have the old legendary discount, and I got the full 3 book physical + digital bundle a while back. But given they don’t charge my card for the whole preorder back then, when they tried to charge my card for it yesterday, I wasn’t ready with the money on it, the transaction was declined, and they just completely canceled my order.
So I got an email today confirming they canceled it, but to make it up to me for losing that bundle discount when placing a new order for it, a promo code was included to supposedly receive the same discount I lost plus an extra $5 off for my trouble. Yet when I put in the code at checkout, my total is actually $5 more than they attempted to charge my card yesterday. So I’m a little confused at how to proceed with repurchasing the preorder in a way that I still get at least the same bundle discount as before.
Btw, this is all for the physical copy of the DMG.
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Yeah, I thought so. Thanks anyway! And thanks for the link, that’s handy
Same thing for me but my card expired since I made the purchase back in July. Got that email. Coupon code correctly reduces the price of the book, but no extra $5 off, AND trying to get me to pay for shipping again. And I will have the same problem for the Monster Manual since it'll still charge the bad card.
In the same boat as you, I just got my response email today so you just have to hold out if you've submitted a ticket
How many days was your ticket open before you heard back?
At this point I don't know why I bothered pre-ordering. Everyone who bought it in a store got it before me.
ya I def won't be preordering physical products from wizards anymore after this, going local is a nicer option too just to support local
Agreed. My ticket is a month old now, so fingers crossed.
good luck 🙏
Oh, that’s reassuring, thanks for the info! It’s a bummer since I’ll lose out on early digital access, but it’s just 2 weeks. And then the $5 off (hopefully) will balance out that loss.
you could always buy them separately one online and one in person which is what I'm doing
and I think it ends up being a similarish price if not slightly higher
but its worth it to actually get the products lmao
Yeah, I already got the PHP with this bundle in really quick where I am, which is why I was bummed that the charge declined on this one else it would’ve been perfect for me. But I can’t remember, I thought there were more bonuses included when you preordered both physical and digital together, at least more than just 2 weeks early digital access.
You’ll still have the digital DMG, including the two-week early access if you’re a Master Tier subscriber.
If the physical book was cancelled because the remaining funds weren’t collected, that cancellation applies only to the physical book.
They fixed the promo. $5 off applied and no shipping! 😁
Did they just now get back to you on that?
Oh, ok. I thought I read somewhere that early access only applies when you get both physical and digital together with Master.
Oh bro, it’s cheaper for me too!! Thanks for the heads up!
Nah, just digital + Master Tier
(Hero Tier gets it one week early)
My issue is that I pre-ordered the bundle months ago and I payed it in full. Now it's saying I can't get the physical copy because of it.
You should have been charged only a portion of the price at the time of preorder.
Now that makes sense. Still upsetting though even with this information.
Oh, but I did just realize I missed this in the cancelation email.
Yeah I just tried it again and it worked. No response on my support tickets but oh well. Will have to do this again in Feb for MM, but hopefully they send out the promo email quick like this time.
What happens when you try to order it?
Can't create homebrew monsters with an image, known issue?
Probably too large a file size / dimensions.
My group is playing curse of strahd. I figured that buying the curse of strahd book would give me the additional options and systems for the character builder. But I'm not seeing anything specific to cos. Am I missing something?
The CoS character options are free
Account Entitlements

I am seeing it under Current Product Licenses
But how come there's nothing special for the character builder
What about at the top, though? Under “Account Entitlements”?
Account Entitlements
Your entitlements data is in sync! You should have nothing to worry about, but contact our Support Team if you're having problems accessing your purchased content.
Should be all set, then. Is there a specific option you’re unable to find?
So I know curse of strahd has only up to level 10 but it seems like the default settings don't have a cap. So I would need a different level up system but I don't see that
One example
Also there are no classes for vampires or dhampir for example
The pre-written adventure goes from levels 1-10, but it uses the normal leveling system.
And the book never had any classes (or races).
Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft has a dhampir race, but no official book has a playable vampire race.
Ahh I see
Is there a way to get a refund? I don't have a use for the book anymore 😕
Nevermind! I found the link
Thanks for your help!
How do i save a map on DND Beyond? Its my first time using the feature and i dont know what to do.
Nevermind, just found out that the map is autosaved.
Is there a way to use the new 2024 PHB statblock format used for homebrew?
This is such a small thing, but I cannot find anything about it anywhere. How do I add the 2024 version of a spell to a homebrew items description. So far all I get are the legacy ones, but those aren't the versions of the spells that the item grants
My 2024 sorcerer - elf can take "expanded rules" feats which are not allowed for the this class+species. He can for example take "infernal constution (only for tieflings)" or "orcish fury (only for orcs)" even if "feat prequisites" is activated. I can also take things like "great weapon master (even if i have 8 STR but 13 is required)" from the legacy feats if legacy activated.
Its with other races and classes the same.
So overall the level depending feat selection (level 4, 8, 12, 16) from 2024 classes ignore feat prequisites from "expanded rules"
Not yet, but I suspect they’ll migrate everything to the new format when the Monster Manual is released in February.
You mean using tooltips? Try [spells] (instead of [spell]).
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/9811-how-to-add-tooltips
You mean I don't have to add src=free-rules this entire time?!
The racial feats are a known issue.
2014 GWM is working as intended; per the rules, it has no Strength prerequisite (nor any other kind).
Welp, would've been nice for me to know in the first place!
Okay
Ah yeah but 2024 has. Mb 😄
I don’t think anyone here knew it “in the first place”. 😅
Thanks heaps! It was becoming real frustrating, but I know what to do next time
are paladin oath spells in 2024 bugged?
the subclasses are supposed to grant the spells as prepared always and not counting against known spells, but this is not the case with 2024? even though when i go in homebrew and get a copy of the sub it has the right options ticked on the spells
This format is just tables in descriptions (As far as Im aware). If you make a homebrew copy of summon aberration you can see how those tables are made.
I am trying to make a purchase on dnd beyond. And when I click next: payment. It doesn't work. And i'm stuck on the shipping page
For the Halloween Sale, Book of Ebon Tides and Tales from the Shadows are each discounted at $31.99, but when they are added to cart together the original discount takes priority and they jump back up to $35 each
I get this issue when i want to access the spell list
That page/URL is loading up fine for me. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser?
Trying to grab a copy of the 2014 MM, but im stuck on the Confirmation page
Everything has been checked over
And your bank/financial institution is not just throwing grief on the whole thing? It has been known to happen where despite all the details being right, the bank decided that D&D/WoTC/DnDBeyond wasn't legit and stopped the payment. You might give them a call to double check it's not them blocking it.
Otherwise you may need to create a Customer Service ticket and have them double-check things.
I dunno if my bank is known for anything related to DnDB
ill try giving them a call though yeah
Their systems may be looking at the purchase and flagging it as suspicious and blocking it. As noted, it has happened before for other folks.
oh another question, does the current deals on DDB (the up to 25% off one) work with former a la carte purchases?
I'm not sure - I suspect they don't stack but customer service would know the full details (plus would be the place to have them apply any previous a la carte discounts).
I tried emailing dnd beyond support about a chargeback ban like 5 months ago because my card got stolen and I had to cancel it.
Havent gotten a reply
Unfortunately that's something that will have to be handled through a support ticket most likely. Tickets are backed up right now so it will likely be a wait for a reply. If you have a ticket in, don't put in another as that will move you further down the queue.
there THAT backed up wow
To be fair, the last estimate I saw for the number of users is about 12million. If even a small percent have tickets in, it's still a lot.
theres also the large amount of issues with the 2024 and 2014 stuff
Daaam
They’re definitely not five months backed up.
If you’ve been waiting that long, something went wrong.
I'll resubmit
that will only send you down even further
After 5 months, it still might be worth following up on the original ticket.
Yeah I think by this point the original ticket was closed (possibly because of non-response if emails didn't get responded to). Probably safe to create a new ticket.
The two MCDM books are affected by the same issue. As a related note, should the $10 discount for buying the books together be applied on top of the halloween sale discounts?
Is anyone able to help me put in a homebrew sub class? There are features that I am trying to put in correctly. It’s not my subclass, but I am trying to use it in D&D Beyond.
What have you got so far? Where exactly are stuck?
I've passed that along for review.
Well the thing is, I’ve got the subclass in front of me. But idk how to transfer it funtionally into dndbeyond for my sheet
Do you have a... Master Tier? Was it Master Tier?
I would suggest starting with making a copy of an existing subclass and changing what you need to change.
Tried that. However there are still issues
What are the issues you are running into? No one here can help much without more information.
What class are you making a subclass for btw?
Do you at least have all the subclass features added at the correct levels, each with a Snippet and Description?
so got most of it done, now i can't find a feature from the original subclass in the editor to remove
What do you mean?
this
In the spells section I would add all 3 spells as their own line. With the way its set up now it seems like you are asking them to pick one of the 3
so what do i modify? @dense viper
In your 2nd screenshot you see how you have all 3 spells listed? Remove the other 2 from that screen shot and then add them back in one at a time by hitting the add a spell button. Everything else looks right
so got that all set so they all show in my spell list, but why does thunderwave show "at will" and not the "cast" button
shatter says cast fine
nvmd
You may have missed the uses spell slot box when adding that spell back in
yep
Hey, is the shifter species updated only in the multiverse book?
Also, I’m sorry if this is in the wrong channel
Also, if I gifted a copy of a book to someone, how do I access the book/code to give it to them?
to gift you need to select purchase as gift option when purchasing the book this will send your the book as a code in a email
You can also go here (https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/my-gifts) to view all the gifts you have bought. The claim key should also be there
Thank you so much. Was on mobile and was hard to scroll and see all the options under my account 🫂🫂🫂
@fluid wraith DDB doesn't store any passwords, so they can't reset any passwords.
You can only sign in to DDB using a separate sign-in account from Google, Apple, Twitch, or Wizards.
If you're having trouble signing in to one of those sites, you'd need to contact that site.
Alternatively, you can contact DDB's customer support about account recovery, and they can link it to a different sign-in account from one of those same sites.
hmm, I'm trying to remember if I signed up with wizards or just signed up with google give me a moment to check
Ok well I was able to sign in again, for some reason when I tried to log in before I only had wizards option (I made the account with google) so now im all signed in, not sure if I can reset password but at least I have the account again
To reset your password you’d have to change your Google password since that’s what you use to sign in.
I swear I used the same password to log in tho
I will now check that to be sure
You can also link additional sign-in accounts to your DDB account.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
ohhh ok I know what happened, when I hit sign in it was trying to make me sign in with wizards (which I didn't have yet) but now I have a wizards account so I can sign in perfectly fine! Idk what fixed itself to let it work but now im all good. Thanks for the help ^^
Yo, I'm building a character on a campaign with content sharing enabled
I've verified all the settings for my character sheet are correct
All the rules are turned on, etc etc
But for some reason it's not letting me access the books
anyone having the same issue?

thanks for the help!!
I just left and rejoined the campaign and everything worked
thanks wotc
why is this being marked as 9th level?
hi im trying to create a homebrew but i can't figure why it is coming up with this still.
Do you get the same issue with Beyond20 disabled?
have not tried
Those errors only matter if you’re trying to publish it for the global community. If you just want to use it in your own games, you can ignore those and use it as-is.
That said, you could try hitting the main save button for the class to re-trigger the validator. If those issues have already been resolved, then the error should go away.
If not, the first issue is stating that a published subclass can only use spells from the Basic Rules. If you’ve assigned any spells that aren’t in the Basic Rules, they’ll need to be removed before you can publish.
The second ensures that the subclass has at least one feature at each of the levels where that class provides subclass features.
For a 2014 paladin, that’s levels 4, 7, 15, and 20.
why does dndbeyond have such difficulty processing the concept of a custom backround?
Is there a way to "enter rage" in dndbeyond? I could've sworn I saw one but I can't find it now
Nevermind, found it
I can't seem to select the Circle of the Blighted partnered subclass as a '24 druid, is this a known issue?
The partnered content has not yet been updated to work with 2024 materials as far as I know.
I can recreate the subclass as homebrew for personal use with 2024, right?
(in order to use it on DDB)
Yes - you just can't publish that material so it's available to anyone else outside your DnDBeyond campaign.
But yes you can recreate the things for your personal use.
Alright, thought so, thanks! I hope they get ported eventually, though
and that there aren't like logistical reasons that they can't :P
I think it's a complex issue because of the copyright issues and needing the partners to give approval and provide the updated material for DnDBeyond to use.
For sure, I guess on a sruface level I assumed it was more simple since for the un-updated, official legacy subs they just have all class features pre-3 moved to 3, the end. I understand it's not nearly that simple!
Yeah like mechanically it shouldn't be that difficult. But the partners need to approve it and provide the material as they would like it presented/used in the 2024 updates context.
It's also interesting to note that out of all the third-party sourcebooks on ddb, all of them say "2014 only"... except for Humblewood. The Humblewood subclasses still havent been ported over to the 2024 classes in the character creator, but Hit Point Press has already released 2024 versions of those subclasses to everyone who purchased the book through their website (like me), so the lack of "2014 only" might suggest that you're right and that HPP is currently working with DDB to get the updates finalized. Nothing official, just my hypothesis.
I dont't know if this is the right place to put this but I was hoping someone might be able to help me.
A group of buddies and I decided today to move our next campaign online. We set up an email for the DM and bought books and a sub to share content. We tried logging in later and it seems to be all gone. The username when we set up the account seems to have changed as well. Is there anyway to reach out to wizards quickly or to log in via username? I read online they can take up to 3-4 weeks to respond. At that point I might as well try and get a refund through paypal and just do it the old fashion way again.
That sounds like you’ve signed into a second account.
If you go to this page and check below the username, how long does it say you’ve been a member for? Does that line up with when you first created the account?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
I have the email confirmation that the weird account name was attached. I was like okay whatever its fine. I then continue to go buy the stuff and it is all attached to my email with reciepts. But now when i login through google, as I made the account, it has the username I intended without any extra characters.
Username: *******************1f27acbbeb was comfired but now it is just the redacted.
all attached to one single new email
Yo someone help me. I just reneuwed my Hero Subscription and it was working fine. Now 30 min after this shit put me back in normal dndB so I can have a max of 6 characters and not ∞
That sounds like the payment didn’t go through.
It waits a bit and tries again.
Then if it still doesn’t work, the subscription is cancelled.
Did you originally log in through Google directly?
If it didnt go through then why did it work for 30+ min
Or does your Twitch account also use your Google email?
Or a Wizards account that also uses your Google email?
nope
Like as a group we decided to make a new email for the DM as it switches. So we made a new account on google to use as the login source. Bought the PHB so we could make characters and now when we log in through google its vanished alongside the membership (free trial) we started.
I think I am just f'd until support reaches out in a month...
How long did this page say you’ve been a member for?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
What was the original username?
less than a day
hours
both of them
time is just because i was slow at ss
simpler username was intended but not in comfirmation email, longer was not intended but in email
Those are definitely two separate accounts.
I understand but they are both somehow connected to the same email then
Because I have the comfirmation for the one I cannot access, but when I login its the other
is there a phone number I can contact at all regarding this or am I subject to email only
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
yea i did that, was just hoping there might be a way to reach out to them faster as I heard the time to wait is really long
I’ve heard it’s a longer wait than usual at the moment, yeah. I don’t know the current estimated wait time.
Can yall help me with something?
I'm trying to make character on D&D beyond and I can't get any Druid classes besides Land, dreams, spores, wildfire, and Shepard. Im trying to make a coastal one but it's not there. I looked at my other Coastal druid character and all the druid classes are available. I have legacy and expanded rules enabled. I don't know what I'm doing wrong?
By “Coastal druid”, did you mean Circle of the Sea?
Or 2014 Circle of the Land with Coast circle spells?
Circle of the land (coast) the only way for me to get that is by copying and pasting a character I made before the expanded edition
That’s only an option for the 2014 Druid class.
If you’ve selected the 2024 Druid class, you won’t see that option.
I want to make a barbarian subclass that allows them to cast spells. But when I select yes for can cast spells, it won't let them choose spells. How do I get the subclass to let me add spells
Question why are the die on mobile ddb basic die when on PC it's the personal die?
Example: on phone, basic black&white die
On computer, the lego collaboration die
On your mobile character sheet, click the gear in the top left, then select My Dice to choose your set.
Thank you
I cannot get a Homebrew to simply add +2 to the AC. I hae searched it and looks like SET Unarmored and Fixed = 2 was once the solution but does not work for me. Help?
That would set their unarmored AC to 12+DEX.
It won’t use that calculation if they’re wearing armor.
What’s the actual rules text for this feature?
i think you're responding to me. I do not know, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfVLbAt4BLg this video made it and it worked. I cannot repeat this though. I am trying to make a magic item that matches a Boon that adds +2 to AC.
How to add a homebrew item to toggle the Mage Armor spell effects on and off easily.

Try this, if you’re trying to copy mage armor:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/76575-how-to-homebrew-your-own-buff-system?page=2#c38
Okay. I've tries multiple times now and it keeps cancelling them after 30min-2hours
Would anyone know how to do this?
I need a set +2, not mage armor speel specifically. Thank you for the idea though. I added Bracers of Defense and those aren't even working actually. Idk why everythingi s glitchting for me
what were the free bees for this month?
Bracers of Defense uses:
- Type: Bonus
- Subtype: Unarmored Defense
- Fixed Value: 2
You can make a homebrew copy of any magic item if you want to see how it was set up.
I think the issue is with the background code and the order - the character I am adding it to has Draconic Resilience and she gets 13 + 3 for AC, I believe this causes the Bracers of Defense, unaltered and not copied, to no work and therefore all homebrew stuff as well. I did try to add the BofD and make a homebrew copy and it is not working for this sorceror character specifically.
Can you share a link to your character?
My homebrew works on my other characters - but not my draconic sorceror. It is my PCs through the campaign. I can just make a draconic sorceror I guess though and add a link.
Again, that sounds like they’re unable to collect the payment. You could try a different payment method, or try contacting your bank or customer support to see if they can provide more information.
You could try making a homebrew copy of Eldritch Knight or Arcane Trickster if you want to see how those were set up.
I did that but it won't let me choose spells
Did you give it a spell list to choose from?
After much fussing with it - I believe the issue is a 2014 character vs making a fresh 2024 one. I have all the updated content and just making a new sorcerer, the items all work, it just doesn't work on the old stuff.
Question: In DnD beyond for custom background. Is there a way in which I can pick constitution, charisma, and strength for the stat i can increase and get the farmer feat?
Yes
so i have two tielfing characters in the same campaign, both legacy tieflings, but only one of them gets the charisma and intelligence ASIs
any idea why
The first is probably using a 2024 background.
The 2024 rules say to ignore any ASI from older species and use only the one from the background.
ahhh ok thanks
You can always check the Subscriptions page to see what the current perks are:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/store/subscribe
is there a way to download the pdf for the 2024 phb if you own it digitally?
There's no PDF, but you can access the book offline in the D&D Beyond mobile app.
interesting, if I do content share can someone else read the book?
Yes. If you enable content sharing in a campaign, then any books purchased by any user in the campaign can be shared.
https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/7747210355604-Campaign-Content-Sharing-and-You
is there a way to get the dndbeyond subscription through the mobile app? The giftcard I am trying to use is being declined on dndbeyond and paypal but the last time something like this happend I was able to purchase something via google play
oh wait there is!
Why is there 2 of this characters abilitys is it meant to be like this
I believe it's a visual bug. When you character actually reachs that level you should only see one
I realized that 2014 spells and magical items are no longer available even I have legacy content on
I don't really understand it generally annoyed me
Is there anyone that can help me with a small problem? I am creating a homebrew species called Kitsune and want to add a fox form. I found the possibillity to toggle the form on and off by using a feat (turn on or of) or magic item (equipable). But when I created the homebrew fox form as a feat I can't seem to find it in my modifiers (feat - ....). I have almost tried everything and I am kinda lost right now. Anyobody have any clue?
If I gain a cantrip from magic initiate would it count as a cleric cantrip?
in 2024*
This is the wrong channel for this question, but it only counts as a cleric cantrip if it says it does. That means only cantrips gained by magic initiate: cleric count as cleric spells. If you’re normally a cleric and take magic initiate: Wizard, those spells don’t count as cleric cantrips.
thx
2014 spells aren't available for the 2024 classes, but should otherwise be there for anything that had access to them before.
And the magic items should all be there if Legacy is on as well, regardless of which class you're using.
Homebrew feats won't appear in that list. If you want to do it that way, the feat will have to be manually added to the character sheet.
So there is no way to create something that you are able to check on and of (toggle) when making a homebrew. That's a big miss 🙁
You could use Options to do that, if you want something built-in.
But doing so means you'd have to go into the character builder to toggle it on or off.
Feats let you do it from the character sheet itself, under Manage Feats, but Magic Items make it the easiest.
That's understandable but they were still. Available before the 2024 player core came out but I'm. Accepting the changes now
Even I don't really like it
The older spells haven't been removed from anything that had them before.
You can also still make a 2014 character if you want.
Yeah
That's understandable
I'll try this channel. The Stellar Bodies spell does not have an attack roll in DNDB. Is this something that us on the Dev radar?
Stellar Bodies is a Wisdom Save not a spell attack. That would be why it doesnt have an attack roll
Read the second paragraph.
"Make a ranged spell attack"
Oh wait its both. I know in homebrew you can set it for both. But if you set it to be a save then on the character sheet it wont have a roll to hit.
It could just be a limitation of the tool
Thank you.
I'm not asking for a work around. I'm reporting a deficiency in DNDB.
I assume the problem is that there's two different effects here.
- A wisdom save for 1d8 damage
- An attack roll for 4d8 damage
The system allows only one of those to be displayed.
So they likely just chose the first one listed in the spell: the wisdom save.
Switching it to display the attack roll would just mean the wisdom save isn't displayed -- arguably the same situation we have currently.
Thank you for the confirmation!
Hey y'all! Quick question; how do I add a +3 to a homebrew weapon? I genuinely don't understand how the "Add Modifiers" page is supposed to work
You can make a homebrew copy of an existing item that does that if you want to see how it’s done.
But you’d need to add a modifier with…
- Type: Bonus
- Subtype: Magic
- Fixed Value: 3
Thanks!
I own the Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn, but I do not see in the search the magic items from there, nor when browsing the magic items. Still I can find them in character inventory. Is there anything I need to enable so the search indexes the 3rd party books properly?
if youre using the search option, you need to turn on Partnered Content in the filters
Where is that? I am using the search option that's at the top of the site. With filters enabled for specific character I find them normally through the inventory
ah, that one is a bit funky
You don't say 😄
Also in the magic items list, for example Boots of Haste (wondrous, very rare) are missing
On that page, you need to open Advanced Filters and set "Partnered Content" to "Y".
But for whatever reason, partnered content isn't currently included in the global site search.
Oh, so thats why I cant find Flee Mortal monsters unless its the second result
that worked, thanks
Am I reading the 2024 pages wrong or do the class pages not tell you what levels you learn specific subclass features at anymore?
That’s a known issue.
YEAHHHHHHHHH tomorrow at 11am that's like an hour after I wake up to take my hormones
will the pre-order drops arrive at around the same time?
Trying to decide if I should pre-order the 2024 Physical + Digital DMG, or just the Physical. How can I check if I already have ordered the 2024 DM Guide in digital format? My Account>Order History does not show anything at all, even though I have already ordered and received the physical and digital Player's Handbook.
Oh... I think I figured it out. I had to go to Order History, and then select/apply all the filters (except "Canceled"). Sorry to ask for help before I tried everything!
At what time does DMG pre release will go live on the site?
Sometime between 9 pacific and midnight pacific today.
I don't believe there is an exact release time announced - just that it will happen today.
Oh ok thanks so I'll get it tomorrow in a way 😂
Just to check on beyond when something reference a creature not found in the book , beyond tends to include that monster for free?
the highlighted part is not working, I have the single use spell, but it's not prepared normally.
Can you share a link to your character?
If by “free” you mean “with purchase of the book”, then I believe so. Is there a specific book+monster you had in mind?
Yeah like that, I was heard from a YouTuber that got a early physical copy that the titan summoning scroll references several monsters in the new monsters manual that don’t exist yet making it a have to wait till next year to use item
makes sense. I'm sure you can replace it with something in the current MM if you own that.
Morning team, when will the DMG2024 be available on the website? I can t see a link for it under sources. Thank you.
I know it’s something I’ll see in a few hours was more just wanting to check if beyond’s books that reference a thing should include access to that find was still in place
in about 3 hours I think
I’d imagine those monsters will eventually be included, but it’s probably a tossup on whether they’ll be there today.
it's never this early... usually around noon is the safe bet
this is really exact
Early access: 29 October 2024 13:40 UTC (from my licenses page), and that should be now, but nope
I’m just a community moderator, not a DnDBeyond developer. Again the release will happen today. The exact time of exactly when is more nebulous.
When the PHB released, we had to wait like 5-6 hours after the "official" time listes on the Licenses page
yeah i get hat, and stuff can happen, i just think the time from the licenses page is very exact
i was at work then so i was not affected then.
Maintenance, updating back-end to support new digital features and pages as well will probably take some time
but HOPEFULLY we can see a release within the next 3 hours
its like Blizzard time, it done whan its done
The link to the 2024 DMG still redirects you to the marketplace, so they're not quite ready
My uninformed guess is it likely will release between 9 am pacific to noon pacific
Again that’s just a guess
I would probably guess, at the latest, it will release in 3 hours
and if we're unlucky, 5 hours
If past releases are any indication, they're probably about to start the release process now.
But it could take an hour or two for that process to complete.
Yep, a lot of back-end needs to be updated and integrated to the site
From a production deployment perspective. they probably had a deployment begin schedled at 13:30 UTC actual start/end times can vary. There are a lot of interactions and everything would need to be pushed to prod and tested. They will probably have load balancing in place, roll out to 50% of the servers, then repeat for the others. So we will probably have load issues around that "release" time. Hopefully people are patient and not too aggro if they don't get their DMG the second it becomes 3 12pm PST.
The PHB release had bugs and additional downtime. The DMG has a lot more intertwined. All times are assumptions and way later. Always under promise and overdeliver.
Given that there's no scheduled downtime like there was for the PHB release, I can't imagine we'll see the same delays here.
I agree
3pm PST is at 11pm in my timezone, so hopefully it releases rather soon. I can definitely wait for another 3-5 hours though.
You're free to speculate. But don't let that speculation drive impatience.
As someone also waiting for Hollow Knight: Silksong, speculation and coping is what I do
oh geez, I just saw what I did. I went 3 hours in the wrong direction. I meant 12 PST, 3 EST. My bad.
That makes way more sense! Yeah, I can definitely see it taking 5 hours.
Hello, I'm quite new and got the Players Handbook, DM guide and Monstersmanual (Legacy) I see that its a 2024 version out now and I want to buy the physical versions as they are alot easier to handle (In my opinion), however they dont ship to europe from DND beyond...Does anyone know where to preorder it and buy the physical versions in europe? 😦
Definitely depends on where you're from. I'm from Denmark and usually shop at a place called Faraos Cigarer. Try looking up local game shops near you, they will most likely have the Player's Handbook.
If you're looking for the physical + digital bundles, check out https://dndstore.wizards.com/eu
Keep in mind that the 2024 versions of the Monster Manual and Dungeon Masters Guide have not yet released, neither physically nor digitally.
That's a true statement for at least another hour or two.
Completely unrelated, how is it moderating for a discord server like this? 2 years ago I ran a Discord server for a roblox game. I think the server is at around 400k members now, and I found it super hectic to moderate, especially with the amount of very young users on a server with that target demographic.
Most days are pretty fun, especially big event days like today.
We've got the DMG about to release, a free adventure to give away, a cool live play streaming in a couple hours...
The link worked!
folks forget the staff here works hard to moderate.. as does the team that is updating the site.. few more hours is not going to hurt anyone.
it is literally out
Consume
Yeah, if you can open it already, have at it.
Just keep in mind that the release process is still ongoing, so things may not yet be fully functional.
i'll add it doesn't seems 100% complete though..
Does I still get the pre-order bonuses if I get the full bundle when 2/3 books are physically released but the third one isn't? I.E. the digital dice for each class
You can still get the bundle-exclusive preorder bonuses up until the release of the MM.
You can also still get the book-specific bonuses for the DMG and the MM (at least for the next two weeks).
You won't get the book-specific bonuses for the PHB.
At all or not unless I pre-order all 3?
At all
👍
Any purchases of the PHB at this point are not a preorder, and thus don't get the preorder bonuses.
Valid
The same will be true for the DMG starting on November 12.
will this connect to DND beyond?
Yeah. If you purchase any physical + digital bundle from there, your purchase confirmation email will have a link with a D&D Beyond redemption code.
So I homebrewed in a version of the astral self subclass but updated for the 2024 monk, and I changed a feature on it but it appears like this in character creation
its fine here
and here
with the new token tracker functions of maps -- will the encounter builder functionality eventually be added in so damage and full stats can be seen directly from the map? Also will the new maps in the 2024 DMG eventually be available in the Map tool like other purchased adventure maps.
is the DMG on D&D Beyond out yet? I don't see it in my account
try synching your entitlements
According to my understanding of the video from #dnd-social-feeds the damage and stats can now be tracked from the maps tool.
how do I do that? I haven't heard of that before
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
Look at the message from Dyno
Yes it is. I have access also on the app
thank you!
DMG 2024:
Surely "im App", maybe also on website, the +1, +2, +3 Weapons and Armors are in this book. But even if they are named in the DMG24 they are noted (linked to) basic rules 2014. And if a character have the "legacy content" deactivated they cant choose the +1, +2, +3 Weapons and Armors even if they should be getable cause they are ordinary DMG2024 content now.
yeah the video shows a lot... but so far i havent seen those extra buttons to do that stuff... maybe i need a session running?
There is no HP tracking or damage rolling or anything yet as far as I can tell. I just ran a short thing to test it with a member of one of my groups, and nothing showed up to enable it, plus nothing suggests it's possible yet in the recently posted video.
I have to imagine that's extremely high-priority for them to add.
yeah thanks... i saw most of the buttons are very initiative based which is a great first step... but still means the encounter builder tool... needs to be used in a separate tab (short of paper/pen)
I submitted some in-tool feedback for it, which is what they recommend, but I think most critically you need to be able to:
- Track HP
- Pull Up Monster Stat Blocks In-Tool
- Roll Stuff From Monster Stat Blocks In-Tool
Without that it's basically a non-feature for me, unfortunately.
100% agree with those. be great to just assign a map to an encounter you build in the encounter builder... and it puts the tokens on the map... and you position... then the side panel can have everything linked.
when you typed feedback did the quick keys -- start changing your tools... I love the quick key addition, but it needs to disable if you arent on the main map window...
Yeah, that also happened to me.
So is beyond down?
for met at least, yeah
so question... I bought a digital+physical version of Dragon Heist, the payment went through... then I got a message saying they are out of Dragon Heist physical copies but will let me know when they do... does this typically take long for them to get the book or no?
Unfortunately . . Tuesdays are the day my table plays
Does anyone know if this is going to be a regular "every Tuesday" thing? and why can't they do it in the middle of the night when most of their customers are asleep?
it's working for me right now... think it blipped a little bit earlier because they released the 2024 DMG for those who pre-ordered
