For my character. What else?
All you have to do is give it a name, a description, and that modifier. It can be done in like 30 seconds.
Well it doesn't say anything about player characters.
What doesn’t?
The Homebrew page!
Do I have to be specific EVERY time?
The more information you give people about the problems you’re having, the more effectively they can help you. Specificity is good.
Is it possible for character files to get corrupted on D&D Beyond? I have a few characters with homebrew options that crash when swiping from the first page. Wondering if going through the trouble of recreating them is the answer.
Yes
Can you give a specific example of a subclass you’re unable to see?
Trickster cleric is one one of my players want to play but can't. And echo knight from the wildmount book I bought doesn't show up either
If they’re using the 2024 Cleric, they’d need access to the 2024 Trickery Domain from the new PHB.
If they want to use the 2014 Trickery Domain, they need to use the 2014 Cleric.
I will double check this but I don't think I own the new books
That is exactly the problem thank you so much
As for Echo Knight, none of the partnered content subclasses have been added yet.
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.

Your a legend saved me having to use paper thank m8
How do you make those big discord things in the looking for dm, I cant figure it out
Read #find-a-game carefully but the bot commands start with '/looking-for'
How do i make a magic item grant a swimming speed equal to the character's walking speed
can you add a character that is already made by you to a compaign you have.
Yep. Just use the campaign’s invite link.
to myself?
Yep
Then how do I make a character through Homebrew?
Why isn’t there an option for 2024 Wild Shape?
Phantom thief class has a bug problem and cannot be chosen in dnd beyond despite purchasing PHB 2024. Is there any progress on this? I saw some player wrote tickets report on official d&d website.
both phantom and thief are showing up for me when making a 2024 rogue. do you own tashas for phantom?
The new PHB has four subclasses for every class. For Rogue, that’s Arcane Trickster, Assassin, Soulknife, and Thief.
Thief is also in the Free Rules, so anyone can use that one even without purchasing the PHB.
Phantom isn’t in the PHB, so purchasing the PHB won’t help you there. It’s only available by purchasing TCOE.
Wild Shape. The existing Wild Shape has been renamed to Wild Shape (2014). We are currently unable to support the Wild Shape rules presented in the 2024 Player's Handbook. To avoid confusion, we have avoided creating a 2024 version of the Wild Shape extras section.

Homebrew Character customization?
As I recommended earlier, you probably want to create a homebrew feat.
Give it a name and description. Hit save.
Add a Modifier.
- Type: Bonus
- Subtype: Initiative
- Fixed Value: 7
Then open your character sheet, go to Features & Traits > Manage Feats, and add the feat.
But I don't know how to come up with a feat.
Took me a while to figure it out, but I did it. Thank you.
Good job @woeful coyote
Thank you!
I can't give Beastmaster archetype to my ranger, but all D&D beyond allows is Hunter.
I have the 2024 player handbook digital and the subscription.
What is the problem?
Are your entitlements in sync?
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
When you say you "have" the book, does that mean you purchased it yourself, or that it's being shared with you?
I purchased the book today. I have cleared the cache also. But I will look at the entitlements you mention.
It says I am in sync
And the book itself is listed on that same page under "Current Product Licenses"?
I still only have hunter available
I was able to add sharpshooter as the feat, so some stuff came through
yes it is
Are you able to view Beast Master here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/2190882-ranger#BeastMaster
Yes I can see that
Can you share a screenshot of the issue or a link to your character?
Sorry, I meant a screenshot of where you're trying to select your subclass.
Or a link to the character sheet itself.
You’ve selected the 2014 ranger.
To use the 2024 subclasses, you’ll need to select the 2024 ranger instead.
Ah OK. Is there somewhere I can change that? Or should I start again and just duplicate the character?
I’d go into the editor and add the new class (as if you were multiclassing).
Switch over any choices you’ve made, like proficiencies.
Then remove the old class.
OK great. Thanks for that. I'll give that a go. Thanks for your help.
That all seems to work. Thanks @uneven lantern
Hey all! Hoping this is the right place to ask something like this - I'm creating a homebrew magic item in D&D Beyond, and when I tag spells with the [spell] tag, it defaults to the version of the spell from the 2014 rules. Is there a different tag I can use to tag it to the 2024 rules?
Hi
If I add the Ritual Caster feat, I can choose the spells in the Feat options, but those spells don't show up in the character's spell list
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will confirm, but I think you use [spell] for 2014 and [spells] for 2024.
Ah, thanks! I'll give it a try right now!
Confirmed, that worked! Thanks a bunch! ❤️
That's a known issue.
Any ETA on it getting fixed?
I don't have any insight into that, I'm afraid.
All I know is that the team has been notified of the issue.
If I just make it Cleric and Druid in the new core rules, will it apply to every subclass as well?
Like I don't need to specifiy subclasses if the base class has it right?
Yeah. I'd generally recommend against adding subclasses there.
Thanks, and why?
Weird side effects
It'll make the spell always prepared for members of that subclass, in every campaign you're in.
Ah right, so it's useful for the ones where you do want it always prepared.
I'll just do Cleric, Druid, and White Mage.
There's safer ways to accomplish that goal.
Man, I need to redo the subclasses I made for old cleric... any suggestions?
No easy method for that, I'm afraid.
I'd just open them side by side and copy from one to the other.
;-;
A few days ago I saw that I was able to copy old homebrew classes from the same class, but now it seems like that feature has been removed? I know I can't copy it to a whole new class but if I go back to Cleric Legacy I should be able to find the subclasses under the creation menu right?
Anyone don't see all the spells when trying to add 6th level mystic arcanum? Can't see scatter nor tasha's otherworldy guise for example (even though I have both xgte and tcoe), but I can see the investiture spells.
guys i want to make a modifier on history how do i do that in hombrew
Depends on how you want to modify it.
I think it's just "Bonus" > "History" or something to that effect.
Depends, because if you want to apply expertise it's different
Also advantage is different
guys how do i add slots to my action
If you mean checkboxes to track a limited number of uses, make sure to give your Action a Reset Type. Then save it and look for the Limited Use section at the bottom.
I have a ticket that's been open for 19 days.
I preordered the digital/physical bundle for all 3 new books. I received the physical copy on time, and in theory I should have access to the digital content.
My licenses page does not show the 2024 PHB, and does not offer the ability to sync entitlements. If I go to the marketplace 'Order History', it shows my purchase.
When in character creation, it treats me as only having access to the new 'free' core rules, not the PHB.
you purchased it as a gift
youll likely be able to see the code to redeem by hitting order details there
or checking the purchase confirmation email
it'll be in the email then.
Not seeing it
do you have a "my gifts" section on this page? https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/account
Found it
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/my-gifts
@lapis geyser are you with the DDB team?
nope, just looked it up in the FAQ lol
Good eye, I spent an hour running in circles when I first realized I wasn't seeing the content.
Still disappointed in the SLA of their ticketing system.
to be fair, all signs point to them having an overwhelming amount of tickets in right now
Very much so - the CS team is experiencing above normal load right now. Thank you for your patience.
Well thank you for the assist @lapis geyser
My condolences to the CS team, as someone who has been on a number of overworked/understaffed help desk teams, I hope they're being treated well by both end users and management as they get through launch.
oof, been sitting with an open ticket for 16 days now... would loveee to hear something since they have my money haha. but i get it, theyre busy lol
just confusing becuase on the ticket page, it says it had activity today, but i'm not seeing any messages
Check spam/junk mail folders just in case
I own the 2014 players handbook, but no longer can access to path of vengeance paladin, along with other subclasses from that book, does anyone know how to fix this?
I'm sitting on the website like within the actual ticket. So it shoudl show up there.
You’ll need to use the 2014 Paladin if you want to use the 2014 Oath of Vengeance.
If you want to use the 2024 Paladin, you’ll need the updated Oath of Vengeance from the 2024 PHB.
Got it, thanks, I didn’t realize they were separated into two completely different classes
Hey all, quick q: any reason there are now two versions of Tasha’s in DnDBeyond? Seems like some things got updated in it as well
Where are you seeing this?
Here’s the example I found. In the (TCoE) version, summon wildfire is a 3rd level feature which is different from the original version where it’s a 2nd level feature
Characters using subclasses from Tashas also now have the (TCoE) addendum at the end of their summary. Was there an update to Tashas?
There’s not two versions of TCOE; there’s two versions of Druid.
The top is the one from the 2014 PHB, and the bottom from the 2024 PHB.
The (one) subclass from TCOE can be used with either Druid class.
Wait so other content got updated when the new PHB came out? That’s interesting
The contents of TCOE itself haven’t changed.
Well not the book but im assuming the information that’s used in the character creator was adjusted based on what you said. Do you by any chance have a link to some more info on this? Would love to know what the rest of the changes are
The one for the 2024 Druid gets its first feature at level three, when the subclass is unlocked. It’s otherwise unchanged.
And even that’s more because the druid has changed; it doesn’t have anything to do with TCOE itself.
hello, i am new to d&d beyond and are about to level up my paladin to level 3, i own the PHB 2024 and want to chooce oath of vengeance but i dont have it in my dropdown list. some help plz
i am reading the above but i dont know how to update classes and stuff like that
I’d go into the editor and add the new class (as if you were multiclassing).
Switch over any choices you’ve made, like proficiencies.
Then remove the old class.
this workt thx
hello - is there a specific place where I can get help regarding project sigil? I've sent emails and haven't received anything yet
What kind of help were you looking for, specifically?
I was trying to complete the survey they want me to fill out but when I go to the link they provided, it said I already completed the survey (which I have not)
I have acquired 2 special weapons in my campaign and need to create a custom item and I'd like to be able to either edit the original weapon it's based on (dagger) or create a new one it has 2 dice rolls u add together it's got 1 d6 of piercing and 1d6 of acid and the other has 1d6 of piercing and 1d6 of cold how do I create it to show the extra +1d6 next to the 1d6 piercing roll so I can just click one button to roll both (I'm using the app RN but can move over to the mobile version of the website if needed)
It would probably be better to make a custom action on your character sheet for that. And I would add those custom actions from the website. Also I dont think you can make homebrew on the app
Hey folks. I'm having an issue with character creation for a campaign I'm running. I have the (2014) PHP purchased in DnD Beyond, a master-tier subscription, and am trying to build a Warlock with The Great Old One patron. However, the only option showing up from core rules is Fiend Patron. Any thoughts? I have the legacy (2014) tab checked, and am sharing content.
Are you using the 2014 Warlock?
If you've selected the 2024 Warlock, you'd need the 2024 Great Old One from the new PHB.
aHA! Thanks for the pointer. Yes - I haven't been in to build a new character since the 2024 PHB was released. Didn't catch that there are two versions there. Cheers.
ok guys, i found how to create homebrew monsters with dragon template.
i would need help to know how to add spells descriptions, new ability and all that like this homebrew character here https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/4294778-successor-of-tiamat-antheros
i personnaly would like to make a wyrmling silver dragon, with 3 levels of cleric. so i would like the character sheet to be as detailed as exemple above.
basicly i need help formating sheet properly like above exemple. so if someone can help me it would be appreciated.
im willing to share screen so its easier to show me how to do it
To link to spells in monster homebrew you would use something like [spell]firebolt[/spell] As far as I know you cant have a monster have levels in any class.
so we just add spells and everything a cleric level 3 would have manualy ?
the successor of tiamat is a very good exemple of what im trying to do, altho on a smaller scale to start
I think what you would have more luck with is using the character builder to make a NPC. As mention in Chapter 4 of the DM's Guide. The following link should go to that section.
i dont think ill be able to pick dragon as species but ill try
i cant pick npc for some reason
i know how to create what i want on paper, i just want to be able to format it properly on DDB so it look as good as exemple above.
like how would i go about adding class abilities and link the DC properly
this guy did everything i aspire to do https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/4294778-successor-of-tiamat-antheros
ok i think i found how to add dice
If you are just trying to make it look nice then I suggest looking at an official monster, by making a copy of any monster, to steal its secrets.
you mean i can look at his formating ?
Not with the monster you linked to but with one from an official source
i already have everything the creature give, i need to format the spells and class features
aww good to know
ill try that
I have already mention how to link spells. The link I posted just a bit ago goes into more detail on giving a NPCs a class.
If you want to link Bless (and other spells, conditions or actions) in homebrew you will need to use what is called Tooltips. Here is a link explaining them https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/9811-how-to-add-tooltips
D&D Beyond offers the ability to link certain aspects on the forum in mouse-over triggered tooltips, such as magic items, monsters or combat actions - ex...
The reason why Fire Bolt didnt work is because I forgot that it was two words not one

Question. DnD Beyond was offering a free trial again. Do I not get a second free trial if I have tried it before the 2024 book release?
i assumed free trial is one time per account. its like first month free if you sub ( can cancel before first charge )
so I feel dumb at the moment, anyone know the link on D&D Beyond for a pdf of the character sheet
I thought so too. But I saw the free trial thing appear again so I wondered if that had like... reset? Because of the 2024 book release.
I have renewed my subscription and it says that I'm gonna be charged today and not a month later. Wondering if I should cancel it and if some sort of error has ocurred.
The new character sheet can be found from the table of contents of the 2024 Players Hand Book.
best bet is to ask supoprt but the fact it says youre being charged today means you have no free trial i assume
Hopefully a mod can clarify this.
Thanks for your patience - at the top of your list of characters, there is a link to download a blank PDF character sheet. Hope that helps!
The link is located right under the Create A Character button.
thanks! I was totally missing it haha
lol, I was like I know there is a downloadable pdf
Could I get a mod's clarification?
Yeah, it’s once per account.
They aren’t being offered “again”, though. They’ve been continually offered since they first became available.
How do I add one of my characters as a DMPC that was already made?
You can use your campaign’s invite link to add existing characters.
Thank you
hey yall, i have a question... Making a bow that does 2d 10. So in DDB i have to choose a base weapon, so i picked Longbow. I went and added the 2d10 modifier and it keep making DDB roll the standard 1d8 for longbow.l.. howd do i change it?
Is there a way to open your character sheet when you're in the session map, i used to play around a year or so ago and i used to be able to
Not using the DnDBeyond Maps tool (unless you're opening your sheet with a different browser window/tab).
you cant change base weapon damage, youll likely need to make a custom action on your sheet
i swear i remember being able to open my character sheet on like the side of my screen when i was playing before
is it possible it was like an extension or smthn
Maybe - but that's not something DnDBeyond provides or supports.
Could check in #third-party if folks may know of something that provides that kind of functionality (but please remember DnDBeyond does not support third-party tools and services)
How do you add a custom item with an ability score modifier?
So the free trial is supposed to be advertised despite the fact that I already had my free trial?
That's bothering me too.
I was like "But I just USED my free trial!"
Anyone know of a way (using a homebrew feat or magic item, etc) to extend the range of spells for a character? I want to homebrew something like spell sniper, but not double it, just add a set amount to the range of spells (e.g., all player spells get a +X range boost). If that doesn't work we can just mentally add it, but I figured I'd check and see if there was a way I had missed.
Does it show you as signed in on that page?
am i missing something? when you purchase a wotc adventure on dndbeyond are the encounters not prebuilt in dndbeyond My Encounters?
I keep seeing this book but where the hell can I find it
It does. But I know I'm signed in because if I click on a different page it says I'm signed in on that same corner.
i need someone to help me with a dnd beyond query that the support of email cannot seem to do anything about please?
It’s not out yet how to wait a about a month for it to drop or around 27 th if you pre order on beyond
For that specificity is the alt book cover they do to attract people to buy from local game stores instead of from places like Amazon
wow I bought from ddb exactly to not use amazon
and I got the not so cool looking one
Would I get the ddb access if I bought one of those books in the store though
Hey guys i'm new!
I'm making a character sheet on D&D Beyond which is a Paladin Oathbreaker.
When I try to find the Oathbreaker subclass it isn't there and i'm directed to unlock in the marketplace. I couldn't find anything online there to help me except I saw online it said I needed to get the Dungeon master's guide? But the only one there is a 2024 one which hasn't been released yet?
Can anyone kindly help a fellow Paladin? 🙂 ❤️
no
i need someone to help me with a dnd beyond query that the support of email cannot seem to do anything about please?
What do you need?
Hey, sorry to bother you.
I'm currently looking on how to get the discount for books I have bought bits from a la carte. Any help would be greatly appricated.
Does anyone know of any reason why my personal homebrew would no longer be appearing for me to select? For clarity my character is a prepared caster, and I've been using these spells for months, switching at long rests. Suddenly they're gone. The one's I have prepared are still there but if I unprepare them they disappear too. I have a Hero subscription, and I haven't edited anything - homebrew is turned on in the character sheet
you will have to add the new 2024 classes to the spell availability (there are new options for each caster class for their 2024 versions)
I'm not playing 2024 though :/
I'd still try it, with everything on the website breaking it might work
Thanks I will, as long as it doesn't switch my paladin to the 2024 version because in that case RIP lol
I purchased the 2024 digital player handbook off dndbeyond but when creating characters I don't have any of the options from the book and just telling me I need to buy it to get more options then when I click on the marketplace promt it says I already own it.
You will have to reach out to customer support for help with this.
?tag ddb support

Thanks, though I'm not sure what 'what do you need help with' thing to put /g /nm
I'm trying to make a tooltip for the Bloodied condition in a homebrew subclass. Is the link not [condition]Bloodied[/condition] ?
I believe it would be "Market Place Order issue". At least I think that is in the vein of what you are needing help with.
Thanks!
I'm afraid not
I dont believe Bloodied is a condition in DnD. At least I cant find it on the list of conditions that show up on a character sheet.
Bloodied is a description of a creature's current hit points without showing their HP
thats not working either unfortunately
again, its probably because its a description rather than a condition
I feel like it should also be stated that tooltips dont work on character sheets
is there a way to add a tooltip for a description?
Hi all, I'm not new to D&D but I'm new to DMing and D&D Beyond. I'm introducing some people to D&D for their first time and I'm looking for resources to make things as smooth as possible. I see D&D Beyond subscription will let me share books if I purchase them through that account? Do y'all think D&DB is a good tool for this purpose, and/or are there others worth considering? Feel free to point me elsewhere if there's a better place for this!
No, what i mean by that is just that its not like a hard rule or anything, its just something DMs use to describe a creature at half hit points
Here is a list of all the available tooltips. https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/9811-how-to-add-tooltips
D&D Beyond offers the ability to link certain aspects on the forum in mouse-over triggered tooltips, such as magic items, monsters or combat actions - ex...
I was using this as a reference, there seems to be one here
That's hasn't worked as I'm already in sync
this works, its "rules" instead of "rule"
Can you give a specific example of an option you're not able to add?
Anyone in the group with a Master Tier subscription can enable Content Sharing for the campaign, after which everyone's books get shared with everyone else.
But if you're looking for alternative recommendations to consider, you could try asking in #third-party.
ooh i didn't see that channel at first, I'll ask there too. thanks!
that's still very helpful though. i assume you'd have to buy books through that D&DB marketplace, rather than getting credit for books you already own. but still saves the group a lot of money!
Yeah, there's unfortunately not a way to uniquely identify physical books that have been purchased anywhere else.
yeah that makes sense
I'll DM you to free up the feed 👍
You could conceivably use the homebrew tools to recreate any character options from your physical books, though.
oh that's true. and are all those options available to anyone i'm sharing with, assuming i'm subscribed?
Any homebrew you create is shared automatically, with or without a subscription.
oh neat!
so it seems D&DB is a solid option to think about!
are the 2014 and 2024 versions of the PHB different items in the marketplace? maybe not the channel for it but if i'm introducing new folks to things anyways I wonder which one would be better to go for
They would be labelled legacy if theyre from 2014
I think the 2024 PHB does a much better job of actually teaching newcomers how to play.
A lot of which is already available in the Free Rules if you want to compare.
yes, different.
if the people i'm DMing for are all new anyways, I'm guessing there's no reason not to just go for the 2024 version of these books for them to learn on
plenty of fun with just the 2024 rulebook.
perfect for new players
Why is there no legacy version for a lot of spells and is there a way to only show legacy spells?
My players keep on selecting 2024 spells accidentally and it has become another chore for me before every session to check their spell lists for wrong spells.
Magic Stone only shows once because only one version of Magic Stone has ever been released.
Has anyone else from the UK still not got their pre-ordered 2024 Player’s Handbook (via UK D&D Store)? I got the digital version but no sign of the hard copy and have had a support ticket outstanding for a while now. 😢
Could you respond to this message? I simply wish to know if it is normal for the free trial to be advertised despite having already tried it before the announcement of the 2024 book.
Who is eligible for the 30 day free trial?
Registered D&D Beyond users who are not current subscribers and have never used a free trial in the past. Signing up for a free trial is supported only via the web.
If you've already used your free trial, I don't know why it would tell you to sign up again. You may need to contact customer support if you want more information about your specific situation.
is there a way to add the Otherworldly Steed statblock to a character's extras?
When I look at a character that I've built as a Rogue using the 2024 PHB rules, under Feature & Traits tab I see features attributed to being on my character through free-rules and PHB 2024. I'm confused as what the free-rules attribution means over PHB 2024. Why wouldn't it all be attributed to the PHB 2024?
Free-rules is a subset of the PHB 2024 rules. If the rule isn't found in the free-rules it then checks the PHB 2024. This allows everyone to make a basic character from the Free Rules, but if they have bought the PHB 2024, they have more choices.
Thought as much. Confusing at first but makes sense. Thx.
Hopefully not a stupid question, but why does my 2014 Rules Moon Druid always have "Aid" prepared?
iirc, thats a known issue
Ah shame..
It's a known bug. Spells have been an issue, trying to keep two rulesets seperate.
Im not sure if i say this question here but
I was trying to buy the 2014 dm book but after i put in paypal or a card it would not say anything is wrong but wouldn't let me proceed to checkout
I also tried a partner content book and it also did the same
Double check your address. One of the fields might have been reset. I had that happen to me a couple of times.
all the address stuff says its right and still isnt working
ill try adding a new address as the same thing
yeah nothing is working
OK, I was just trying to be helpful with something that worked for me. This might have to be escalated to someone else.
is there someone i can find
ill try figuring it out thank you for trying to help me though
how do i add a bonus action to a magic item
or is that not possible and i have to finnick with custom actions on the sheet
I have a question about leveling up on the beyond app why am I level 2 when I am half palden and half cleric
And how do I levle up one are both
If you have one level in Paladin and one level in Cleric, then 1 + 1 = 2.
Each time you level up, you can add that new level for either class.
Ok thx
Heya :3 i was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me with how to fix my homebrew feat on teh site? It gives you a bigger spell list, but the spells dont scale with class to-hit/DC's
If you want it explicitly tied to the class, you’d need to assign them through a homebrew subclass.
A feat can only scale off the ability modifier specified in the feat.
hmmn, would it circumvent the issue if we select it through the class itself instead of adding it through the feats tab?
Hello all. Im sorry if this has been asked before (im new here) but I own all the legacy books on DNDBeyond but DO NOT have the 2024 books. Ive checked the switch for Expanded Rules AND Legacy. During character creation, It appears that subclasses from the 2014 PHB are missing. Is this an expected scenario or am I missing a selection option somewhere?
You may not have scroll down far enough on the select a class page. The Legacy options should be at the bottom
Not by selecting the feat through the class, no. They’d need to get the spell directly from the class/subclass.
Unfortunately thats not the case, I have nothing to scroll. I see Core - Path of the berserker and then my expanded rule subclasses. nothing from phb
Did you select the 2024 Barbarian and not the 2014 one?
I see what I did, I did not scroll down, I was selecting the first one. my bad
Are agonizing and repelling blasts fixed yet?
The easiest way to find out is to check your sheet.
I have been banging my head against a keyboard for over a month and I stumbled on your comment in here. Not all heroes wear capes.
I do my best, glad it helped you too 🙂
Admin of this channel should pin this comment, since I've seen a bunch of conplaints about this issue.
Are there about 200 monster with full stats i making a full dark forest and dark tower game
You can find the list of monsters here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters
How do I high do I raisee the stats on monster for level 12 players so they just can’t chop them all down with ease
Thats more an encounter difficulty thing than a monster thing
I'm trying to figure out why my weapons/attacks won't roll but things like saving throws initiative will. This doesn't usually happen.
Do you have a browser extension like Beyond20 installed and enabled? It may interfere with normal DnDBeyond functionality.
Also ad blockers and VPNs can impact things.
No ad blockers or VPN, but I do have beyond 20 installed. It has been for a long time.
Disable it and see if rolling on DnDBeyond works (or see if there's an update).
As a note we do not support third-party tools/extensions like Beyond20 and you should seek support from the developer of it.
I want to homebrew a race that has the same information as the original, I own the fairy race but beyond removed it from me
Okay - that's fine as long as you don't publish it (make it available to the general community - any homebrew you make even if it's not published will still be usable by you and the campaigns you're in.
Well i need someone who know how the tools work, I need someone who already did it, so I can copy paste it
That's not possible as folks can't distribute copyrighted work without permission
What do you mean when you say Beyond removed it?
Remember how we were allowed to purchase individual content without needing to get the book?
Out of the many things I bought individually, fairy was one of them. Since the update, most of the stuff I bought has been taken away. So I only have the scout subclass and a few feats
The option to purchase new individual species was removed, but that wouldn’t impact any that you had already purchased.
Fairy was removed from me
You’re not able to access it here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/species/814913-fairy
It lead me to the book
With a price saying it's out of stock
I can show proof of ownership of that content
Wait
Is it shown here in your order history?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/order-history
I wasn't sign in hold on
OK it did show up there, but won't show up on the app. Let me see if I'm sign in on the app
Have you downloaded that book in the app as well?
I don't believe so, I don't own the book itself, but the fairy content is the one thing I do own
I believe there should be an option to download the book anyway.
OK, let me check
You won’t be able to read the book itself without purchasing it, but that should let you access anything you’ve purchased from inside.
What book do I need to download
Either Wild Beyond the Witchlight or Monsters of the Multiverse.
Might depend on when exactly you bought it.
Mm I'm looking at "owned" but I don't see either options let me download all the stuff I see
Try looking under “All”.
Since you don’t own the book itself, that could be why it’s not showing in “Owned”.
Okey
If you hit the three dots at the top, you can also just “Download All”.
OK I'm doing that right now see how that go
It's not showing up...
Most of the books don't have the three dots.
Idk what I can do at this point, can I at least show proof that I do own it?
are you absolutely sure youre logged into the same account? if you can see it on the website, you should have access on the app
Not next to the book. At the very top of the screen.
Oh that, yeah I did that already
And you’re able to access your other purchases, characters, and campaigns in the app?
I can access the scout subclass, I'll check if I have access to the war domain
Yep I got the war domain
I can show more, but that would mean probably 9 other things I got to screen shot
Only other thing I can think to suggest is to check if your entitlements are in sync:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
But if you bought it that long ago, I doubt that’s the issue.
Here it is, right there
I can’t download all I am disabled so I. Have limited funds
Wait I have a dice set?
I have to make small things 1 at a time
I what the best upgrade it said my password was bad I can only do it a month
No, at the top of that page is a section called Account Entitlements. Does it say your data is in sync?
Oh let me check
Is it because I am loged in
Sorry, I’m not sure what you’re trying to ask.
OK I might be blind here, I'll check the app one moment
I think I fixed it
Yep I fixed it
So it's all fixed now, I had to download it by looking it up on type
Havnt been following dndbeyond in a couple weeks, have any more patches been sent out to fix 5e24 broken things
Lots, but I don’t think anyone’s kept a running list.
Fair, thanks
It certainly would be nice to know what issues remain so one knows what workarounds one might need to make for broken things. A statement of the current state of affairs since things went topsy-turvey would be a nice thing to provide paying subscribers to DDB.
This is the official list:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
Hello DDB team. I have one doubt. I trying create a new character using dnd 2024 base class druid with my subclass from 2014 version.
Some of subclass are available like circle of spores but other are not available to chose.
I noticed that subclass from thirty party source as taldorei and grim hollow as not available. This is a temporary issue or I will never be able to use this subclass with 2024 base class?
There was something about how they had to wait on the 3rd parties to update their subclasses to be used with the 2024 Classes.
What Subclasses are you not seeing that you should be?
From the tread recently posted by spamandtuna
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
That quote is from https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
All thirty party subclasse.
Grim hollow, humblewood, tal'dorei and ebon tides.
I have hot test all subclasses from WoTC books but notice that subclasses already available in 2024 also is not available to use in 2024 classes. For example druid of moon, land from PHB 2014 and druid of stars from tasha.
is there a way to move all of the items a character has over to another one? Adding each item 1 by 1 would take way too long
Copy the character is the only suggestion I have.
Older subclasses that have been updated in the new PHB aren't meant to be used with the new PHB.
So there is a list as a large post on the 73rd page that indicates fixed and outstanding but it would be nicer to have a list of just the outstanding list. One would like to see if a known issue remains that might impact their use of one of their characters.
I still would think an update to indicate where things stand would be nice given that its been a month since DDB became less reliable as an aid to managing one's character when playing.
Why can I get to 100 level on my beyond app fix it please
Level 20 is the highest a character can reach in D&D.
Probably because you already set yourself to level 20
It essentially just enables or disables the XP tracker.
Based on whether your group is tracking XP or not.
You should ask your DM which to use.
then its because you multiclassed
Ok
you can only have 20 levels in total, even when you multiclass
Again, thats because you can only have 20 class levels total. Multiclassing adds to your overall level
Ok
19 in one class + 1 in your other class = 20
Hey quick question is the looking for dm a person looking to join a game or looking to find a dm to dm there own game they made?
Is there a game going
so how is grimhollow transformed going to be implemented into DDB?
is it going to be just like any other book?
because I noticed there was a grimhollow something on DDB already but it has like 3 races and 2 subclasses compared to the 40 new subclasses in Grimhollow transformed
i know they've said its going to be on DDB
but i dont see it being able to be preordered on DDB
It’s probably just going to come to DDB later on. They’re just saying it’ll be on DDB to assure folks who want to use it there that it will be there.
Most of your question would otherwise be better suited for the Grim Hollow Discord server, though. We can’t know what they intend.
yall im trying to get the 2024 players handbook, but dont know if I get the special game store exclusive version if it will come with the digital bundle as well, anyone know?
specifically im trying to buy it in person at my lgs\
“Identify” in the mobile app does not display as a ritual in the character creator section for wizard thanks!
Oh fixed
Once you learn it, R appears
When it says Learn, no R. Click Learn then R tag comes in
I see Scout under the Expanded Rules section of a character one of my players has, but I was under the impression that it's 2014 and not the new expanded 2024 rules?
Scout is from XGTE and was not reprinted in the 2024 PHB, so it is still perfectly acceptable to use as-is alongside the 2024 Rogue per backwards compatibility.
The limited edition cover is not available in any bundle with the digital version.
Dang alright thanks
That really sucks though
It’s intended to encourage you to go to and support your FLGS.
it's the other way around for me, I hate 2024 stuff and don't want to use any of it that I can
Oh, well, then just use XGTE’s Scout with the 2014 rules without issue?
Yeah, I was just confused if there was a reprint of it and "expanded rules" stuff was actually 2024
Ah, I see. The answer is no, it wasn’t updated for the 2024 rule set, it was just made to work with the 2024 Rogue on DNDB due to supporting backwards compatibility.
Wouldn’t that siscrouage it though? Since you have to purchase it separately on dnd beyond?
Why wouldn’t you get the package deal
Because a lot of folks care about physical only.
Will the inability to purchase anything on the Marketplace in Canada ever be fixed? I would like to purchase the books sometime before the 9 Nine Hells freeze over!
So partner has a DnD beyond account on her iPhone.....but she can't log in on our Samsung tablet as it doesn't show apple log in
She can add additional login methods here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
So say I wanted to impliment a homebrew feature into my character sheet but its not tied to a specific class or race or anything like that how would I do it?
Feat? Then you add that homebrew feat as an extra feat.
oooooh
Hi i just joined because I have a small problem.
My friend has Xanathar’s Guide and has manually set my paladin to Oath of Conquest but in the app its still appearing as if I didn’t have one selected.
Screenshots for context
Another silly q, as the DM can my partner level us up? Or do we need to go on our characters n level up that way
DMs can edit sheets if youre in the same campaign
But like, how exactly do i get oath of conquest displayed as selected when in my character?
What is the maximum number of campaigns i can share content to again?
Do you have the book its from, or is your DM sharing it with you?
Dm has the book, id assume its shared since its in a campaign unless you need to manually
Like I said, he manually set it to oath of conquest, and it displays as such everywhere i’ve seen BESIDES my actual features and traits page
I think it's 5
ah, that might be due to the 2024 update, its been a bit weird as of late
Hello, im am trying to share my content with a campaign i have made, and have generated some premade characters to test, i want to adjust the level 1 characters to level 4, so will need to pick their subclass, but when i go to select one, there is only the legacy options. i have content sharing enabled, with the 2024 phb selected and have a master tier sub.
what could be causeing this issue?
A Master Tier subscription lets you enable Content Sharing in up to 5 campaigns. Your content gets shared in every campaign where Content Sharing is enabled (regardless of who enabled it).
Are you using the correct class (2014 or 2024)?
The 2024 subclasses can only be used with the 2024 classes.
i think thats what the issue is, the premade characters on the campaign page have not been updated to the 2024 rules
Does anyone know how to update a post when you send it. I forgot to post the day when my game is.
Put the details you missed in the thread below.
thanks
Hi Team - can I please get some help with a D & D Beyond query, specifically about the 2024 version of PHB? I have Master Tier subscription and own a copy of the 2024 PHB. I have content sharing turned on for my campaign. One of the players has a Ranger/Rogue and according to the rules he gets Favoured Enemy at 1st level and always has Hunters Mark spell prepared. However in his character sheet this spell does not appear. Should it appear automatically or does he have to manually add it? See below screen shot. On a similar question, this player created a new barbarian but it isnt allowing the new 2024 content. Does the PC have to join the campaign to get this?
Sorry, forgot to add on last message....
Are they using the 2024 classes and not the 2014 ones?
And is the second one assigned to the campaign where that content is being shared?
Remember how I was having trouble giving my character a 9 Initiative?
Well now I have another problem.
I made a custom character out of Heroforge and decided to make a character sheet about her, but I could only pick "Human" since "Half-Giant" isn't a thing in D&DB.
I looked over Homebrew and added that to my collection, but my character builder still won't list it.
Is there a way to add a custom species to the character sheet?
Thank you. I don't know how I missed that.
how do you add a picture to a homebrew magical item?
I am unfamiliar with DnD Beyond, and I am trying to figure out how to play certain classes and subclasses and whatnot. But I only see the most basic ones available. If I recall, not even everything from the PHB.
You have to bug the PHB for the full set unfortunately
I own a physical copy...
You have to buy the books digitally to use them in the app or website, it doesn’t just give you the stuff. Its real dumb
And sadly that won’t get you anywhere
Gotta buy it on the app or no luck
Sorry man.
I love physical books - I could never switch over to fully digital. Can you get a discount on the digital if you, say, show that you bought new the physical copy?
That seems fair.
It is fair! But no.
They should publish the books with a code to get a digital copy, but that won’t happen
Warhammer 40k does that, for units
It looks like some books give you the digital version for only $10 if you buy the physical copy, but that means you can't take advantage of coupons or discounts at places like Barnes and Noble or Amazon. Boooooo.
But yeah, that I actually could help with, sorry there isn’t a good answer though.
I remember seeing posts some time ago about being able to buy individual stuff like classes. Was that a thing? Was it done away with?
No clue. I only looked at DDB for the first time when WOTC bought it.
Then I got mad about the topic we’re discussing and never looked at it again
Yeah it looks like DnD Beyond did use to allow the purchase of individual classes and races and whatnot. I'd pay like $5 to get artificer, but I'm not going to pay $30 to buy Tasha's, which I already have a copy of.
This seems like a shit sandwich for people who own a lot of the books already. Ddb should at least give people huge discounts on the digital copies if you already own them and can prove you bought them new. Something like that.
I agree. But unfortunately, corporation be corporate
how do I see legacy races in the species section
Do you have the option toggled on during the first portion of character creation (under Home). This is under the assumption you have the digital book yourself
If you do and they're still not showing up, make sure you're creating your character in a campaign that has access to the digital books and has content sharing on.
Hope one of these helps
Hi so we have purchased the PHB 2024 n have slowly updated our beginner characters. We are now trying to work out how we unlock the subclasses and any other extras? Is it only the PHB, DM, and MM books that have updates
If you’ve already bought the book, you should already have access to those subclasses.
Have you updated your character from the 2014 class to the 2024 one?
Is there an FAQ for how badly the backwards compatability has been done or a road map for when certain legacy content will be made available with the 2024 content
Is there a way to add a map to the campaign notes for players to see? Looks like there is a option, but can’t figure it out
Can I move characters from one campaign to another campaign? Like multiple.
Not in bulk, but you can move them individually.
You’d need to remove each character from its existing campaign, then use the invite link for the new campaign to add them in.
Hey everyone! I'm just looking for a source where I can find out what adventures have been integrated into D&D Beyond's new Maps VTT alpha. I'd like to a run a pre-made one-shot but I don't know what all adventures are currently supported and don't want to buy one before knowing.
These are all the Maps-enabled books so far:
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/MAPS-Landing
They’re still working to backfill the older books. They’ve been adding like two a month on average.
Does the partner website reduce the cost for preorders if you already have one half of it? I already bought the digital pack, and im trying to aquire the physical pack as well
I don’t believe so.
I don’t think it even has access to any data from DDB itself.
Hey my stater kit never came with maps
I had to draw maps out are there premade maps for my starter kit
For physical, it never did
I can draw my own I guess what paper is best to use for maps and have the spaces to step on
Tohi, yes I've stripped my character right back to use all the 2024, but seems for my bard, my partner's paladin, we only get 1 subclass
Can you share a link to that character?
I'll try to see how I do it 😂
Just copy the link from your browser’s address bar and paste it here.
As my other partner is attempting to DM, they purchased the 2024 PHB to then share with us all.
That character is still using the 2014 Bard class.
You’ll need to remove that class and add the 2024 Bard class instead.
The 2024 one has a
icon instead of
.
Oh I'm so stupid......that's the one thing I didn't remove 🤣😅🤣
Is there any way that you can use source books you bought with the new 2024 ruleset or would I need to buy them again?
Aside from the third party stuff that they are currently trying to work with the creator to make work with the new rules the official stuff should already work mostly
Just changing moving subclass before level 3 to 3 and using the 2024 rules for conditions that stuff apply
Oh is there something Im meant to have done? Because none of my subclasses work with the new ruleset
Are they homebrew stuff cause that I think need to be rebuild
No its normal source stuff
Can you give a specific example?
does princes of the apocalypses work with the maps? (sorry if this is wrong channel)
Yep! You can view the full list here:
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/MAPS-Landing
As a healer can I cast canip soell over and over
#dnd-rules can help with game questions. Again, this channel is for getting help with the website D&D Beyond.
I’m making a new character and printed out a custom sheet, what does pw mean?
I’ve never seen a character sheet with “PW” on it. You could try asking in #character-discussion, maybe? (This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond.)
Good morning - We are playing on the 2014 edition rules and now all my spells show twice (once for the new version and once for legacy)
Is there a way to show only legacy rules and spells?
(sorry if this was asked before - I just encountered this when level up my character)
Really annoying
Also I do not see all the Homebrew content my DM added to my character (like a specific Patron)
I have Homebrew content turned on
Hi There - thanks for replying so quickly. I'm not sure about that, is there a way to choose this option when you build a character? I can see there are these preferences, so do you have to turn off legacy? With regards to the second question, no I havent assigned him to my campaign yet, so maybe thats the issue - I'll ask the player to join or make up a new campaign for him to join
when i make a hb feat to give my character access to spells, how do i make item count as spells from a class, and to also use the character's spell save dc
Can you explain a bit more? Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
It's not currently possible to show legacy-only.
Was this homebrew created before or after the 2024 release? Did they assign it to the version of Warlock that you're using? Is it still in their My Homebrew Collection?
If you've already got Legacy enabled, you should see two sets of classes when choosing your class. The top ones (under "Core Rules") are the 2024 classes, and the bottom (under "Legacy") are the 2014 versions.
If you see "
Ranger" on their class page, they'll need to remove that class and add "
Ranger" instead.
That's not possible through a feat.
That is sad
How do I purchase a campaign digital only on the market place... I bought a source book but now I can't buy Descent into Avernus. I'm located in Canada and I know there's some issues etc but there must be a way to buy it..
What happens when you try to buy Descent into Avernus?
So the only way I could buy a sourcebook a few weeks ago was using paypal. I did the same thing. It has the paypal popup. I go through it and this is all I get
I'm buying this as a gift I should note. Nobody else in my playgroups been able to buy anything and we're all in Canada..
so I wanna gift it to my dm
I saw you could buy on Amazon buy only the american site. How wotc is still in business is just shocking.
Sorry, what's wrong with that image?
What happens if you click the "PayPal Checkout" or "Debit or Credit Card" buttons there at the bottom?
It will open a popup to pay through paypal. So I do that select my bank account, (I also tried my CC) and it'll close like it took the payment. And then the above screenshot is all it shows
Like it's actually insane. For a company as money hungry as they are. They're making is extremely difficult to purchase their product. I don't think I've ever been this frustrated trying to buy something in my life. Are there 3rd party sites I can just buy a code from to completely bypass this?
You may need to contact customer support, then. I haven't heard of anyone else having that kind of issue.
?tag ddb support
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
For reference this is the popup I get when I click "Paypal Checkout". I hit agree and pay. it spins and does whatever its trying to do. Closes and then the screenshot I sent earlier is all I see
Have you tried it in another browser or on another device?
yeah I've tried my phone, as well as incognito mode.
Just tried Edge and no luck either.
Is it planned?
After - A few days ago
I don't know what their future plans are.
They couldn't assign it to my Warlock - the legacy one - only the new one which doesn't help us because we are not playing on the new version
That sounds like they created a subclass for the new warlock, not the legacy one.
They'd need to recreate it for the legacy class.
There is no option to do that now
You can create a homebrew subclass here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations/create-subclass
You’ll need to choose the “Warlock (Legacy)” option if you want to use it for a legacy warlock.
currently trying to update a druid homebrew class of mine but while im updating it, is there a way i can have it so as the character levels up they can choose between any two transmutation, evocation, or conjuration wizard spell?
cause before i had it locked to the pre-designated spells.
Yep! Add a Spell to your class feature, then just set the class and spell schools.
Then add a second one with the same.
the problem is theres no slot for the spell school option
i could add say Level 1 Wizard spells
but it would not restrict them to the three sub-schools
Starting at 3rd level of the level your knowledge of the arcane takes shape; you may learn one cantrip from the wizards' spell list. You also gain access to an expanded spell list these spells. You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Expanded Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a Druid spell for you.
Whenever you gain a Druid level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be of the Conjuration, Transmutation, Or Evocation spell from the wizard spell list, These spells are automatically prepared
the feature is supposed to work similarly to how like clockwork soul or aberrant sorcs can replace a specific spell with one of a different subschool.
Hey guys. I’m barbarian. For some reason I’m wearing armor of invulnerability on dnd beyond and it’s not changing my AC at all?
Like, I’m wearing it and my dex is +4 so it should be 22
Because the armor says it has an AC of 18
It keeps saying I have an armor of none
Nvm, just figured out ac doesn’t add to heavy armor
Maybe that doesn’t work for subclasses, then. 🤔
It definitely works for feats.
i will just have to hope people, just not cheat cause
its definately not resitricted to Trans, conj and evo
Seems the only alternative would be to least each applicable spell in the "Spell" field, and then it'll prompt them to choose one.
But then you'd have to do it again for the second Spell entry, and it wouldn't account for new spells or homebrew or anything...
yeah, ill have to rely on people not cheating if i dont want to do alot of work
are there any other popular dnd discord servers?
Check #looking-for-community - this channel here is for DnDBeyond technical support.
Just copy the link from your browser’s address bar.
You may also need to update your character settings to ensure “Character Privacy” is set to”Public”.
Make character Public. You can do that with the "Manage" button beside your character's name, and click on "Character Settings". Then follow spamandtuna's link advice.
@uneven lantern I ran into another Homebrew problem (yeah, I'm still a noob), I found "Half-Giant" and added that to my Species list, but when I was ready to select it, there were choices to pick either Fire, Storm, Stone, Cloud, Frost, and Hill Ancestry, but no pure "Half-Giant".
I wanted my character to have a rather non-elemental ancestry, and so far the only non-elemental half-giant species I can pick out of all of them is Hill Giant... and based on the fact they are categorized as "selfish brutes", which is not what my character stands for.
So why pick anything EXCEPT "Half-Giant"? I added "Half-Giant" to my species list and I can't even use it on its own.
Are there any "Half-Giant" Homebrew options that aren't so narrow?
Here's an example of what I mean.
You could make your own?
I could, but that would take a while.
Not to mention I don't exactly know much about stats yet.
You could just copy one of those word for word, or you could copy Goliath and put in whatever you and your DM agree it should have, etc.
Otherwise, you can search the homebrew listings for another one. If you don’t find one, your only option is to make one.
I have no idea what kinds of public homebrew options are available.
hey my player tokens wont load and i cant pick any on my map
is there a way to fix this
Have you tried clearing your cache? ive experienced that problem before
still doesnt work
my monsters will load but my player tokens wont
im on D&D beyond website also
but it will not work
please anyone
I'm trying to find my Order History for this year. it's not on the Marketplace either. I can't search for orders by their number. it's like I haven't purchased anything since late 2023.
I have them in my Licenses, but I was interested in my Order History, with the dates and amounts paid.
Have you checked both order histories? The new marketplace has a different history to the old one. Whichever history you're looking at should have a link to the other one at the top of the page.
yes, the ones on the Marketplace should be from this year and it's empty there.
I've checked both places.
Did you order it on dndstore.wizards.com? That also has its own order history.
I've seen this and a few others have as well for wizards using legacy wizards......still testing for free rules......not being able to choose spells for 18th lvl feature
Just checked it's just 2014 wizards having the issue
That's a known issue.
Ok thank you
When creating a homebrew magic item and linking spells with [spell]....[/spell], how do I link to the 2024 versions of spells? Seems that right now, things like [spell]spiritual weapon[/spell] always link to the 2014/"legacy" version.
[spell src=free-rules]name[/spell]
Thanks. Is there some documentation somewhere where I could have looked that up (and which contains other possibles values for this src attribute)?
There’s a homebrew forum on DNDB’s forums where these things are documented and discussed. There are lots of posts, though, so the useful tips can get unfortunately buried.
Thanks again. Bummer that there isn't some comprehensive one-stop documentation for this stuff.
I think you can also use [spells] name [/spells] (I.e. plural) for the 2024 versions.
Indeed, that works, thanks. This really screams for some proper documentation.
I think this is the best we have at the moment.

That mentions neither the src attribute nor the plural version of the spell tag though. It does mention the src attribute in the context of the monster tag further down but also doesn't give a comprehensive list of how to spell the books to reference them in that attribute.
If only this was a paid service by a giant company who has the resources to write documentation like that. Oh wait.. 🤓
The src is in an addition to the thread at the end by Davyd though it does only mention that it can be done with monsters im sure the formatting is the same
The plural version is really new and has probably not been added yet.
If in doubt as to what the src code is for a book, it's in the URL of that book after 'source/'...
Need help with trying to Log back in, treat my like I have no clue to what I am doing as I do not know.
I thought I had the same issue. In the Marketplace Order History, the filters are set to only show 3 months. Once I changed that to 6 Months, my orders showed up.
I made the purchases only on DDB.
I searched by order number and nothing. I'll check to see if there are any filters.
yeah, that was it. how frequently are we supposed to make purchases for the filter to be set up for 3 months back? 🤦
Not authorize, just Log in to my DDB Account
Where are you seeing the Authorize button you mentioned?
Is that a Google page, or…?
Would send a pic, if I can figure out how
So what do I do when I can not get a response from the support page on D&D beyond but they cancelled part of my order without refunding me
If you bought a physical+digital bundle, only a portion of the final cost is charged at time of purchase (enough to cover the digital book).
The remainder is charged when the physical book is preparing to ship.
The thing they cancelled was the physical players handbook
If the remaining payment can’t be collected at that time, the physical book will be cancelled.
Since they haven’t collected the money for it, there’s no money to refund.
According to my credit card they have...
**When will I be billed for my Preorder? **
If you pre-order a D&D product on the D&D Beyond Marketplace or the D&D Store your card will receive an initial authorization in the amount of the full order price, but will only be charged for the digital items and any Physical Items on your purchase which are not pre-ordered. Once the physical items you Pre-Ordered begin shipping to you (usually about a week before the official release so you get it in time), your card will then be charged for those items plus the shipping fees. Any discounts will be split across the payments based on their portion of the total cost. Tax is applied separately to each transaction.
For example: If you pre-order a Digital/Physical Book bundle for $59.99 ($79.99 with a $20 Bundle Discount), card will initially receive an authorization for for $59.99 + Tax & Shipping. The final charge on the transaction will be applied as $22.49 + Tax for the Digital content ($29.99 - $7.50 Discount). When the physical book starts shipping, you will then receive a separate charge for $37.50 + Tax & Shipping ($59.99 - $12.49 Discount).
Did you check that number after the transaction was finalized?
Ultimately, though, if you need assistance with your specific order, you’d need to contact Customer Support.

http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
thats the problem they keep closing my ticket with no contact.
Its been 5 days and they have done something on the ticket with no resolution as recently as 10 minutes ago. when they closed the other ticket
So you’ve opened multiple tickets for the same issue?
But at least one of those tickets is still open?
with no actual reply
I’d assume they’ll continue to close any duplicate tickets.
As long as you’ve got one open, they will get back to you.
Tickets are answered in the order they’re received, so the exact wait time depends on how many tickets are ahead of yours.
I don’t know the current expected wait time, but I believe they’re a bit backed up at the moment.
If you’ve got a ticket open, though, they’ll answer as soon as your turn comes.
In the meantime, I’d recommend double-checking that credit card charge.
Alright. Thanks Sorry for being annoyed. Ordered the combo pack of all the 2024 stuff and because of that card I used was supposed to be no interest but if they charge it all seperate they probably wont let me do that
It still shows the full amount but also the a lower amount. Although the math doesnt make sense
Shows I was charged for the physical book and the digital but the physical shows cancelled still
What did you order through? Paypal?
Is the higher number listed as a payment authorization?
It was using my Affirm card. Their interface kinda sucks honestly.
shows the purhace price as 168.30 but shows the "Used" amount as 67.47
which would cover one book and the digital if I am not mistaken
The $168.30 would be the price DDB has been authorized to charge, then, and the $67.47 is what they’ve actually charged.
Meaning there’s ~$100 they haven’t collected yet.
Yeah its just weird that it showed the book was cancelled as if they a issue taking payment even though the card shows the money was taken out
The amount taken should be for the digital books (with a portion of the total discount as explained above ☝️), plus tax.
Is this Wizards account tied to an existing DDB account, or are you trying to create a new one?
No just Log in. I have lost contact with all my game stuff.
No, it's not tied to an existing DDB account?
Or no, you're not trying to create a new one?
I can access my current digital Books but not my Characters or Campaigns
That doesn't sound like a login issue, then.
Any chance you saved a link for one of those characters?
the site is not letting me dismiss the notice about the maintenance
Same. I'll pass that along.
It is on my Task Bar (I tihnk that is what you call it, the shortcuts on the top bat)
Can you share that link here?
so, I'm working on stuff for my campaign. Long story short i'm trying to build a feat similar to gift of the Metallic dragon. However I can't seem to get rid of Cure Wounds. If I get rid of spells it disappears, but the second I add a spell it adds back cure wounds
scratch that, I was wrong it does keep it without any spells on the feat

What's the nature of the question?
Here we go
So the character itself still exists.
But you don’t see that character under My Characters?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters
What username does it show at the top of this page?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
None
What do you see on that page, then?
And that DDB account was always tied to your Wizards account?
How long have you had your DDB account?
I have no clue
A couple of years
Wizards login was only added last year.
If you’d created it before then, it would have been tied to Google, Apple, or Twitch instead.
You’re not still signed in through another browser or the mobile app, are you?
Ok, it would have been great if someone had sugested my Goggle Accout days a go, I have activly used it in over a decade, thank you very much it worked
While you’re in, I’d recommend adding your Wizards account so you can also log in through that in the future:

Thanks
hey I was wondering if this was just an issue on my end or if others are experiencing it, but is anyone else missing purchases in their order history? Specifically for the new 2024 core rule books? I have the email recept of the order confirmation and the entitlements are listed under licenses, but it just isn't recoded in the order history so I can't track the order.
It filters to orders from the past three months by default. If you adjust the filter to a longer timespan, are you able to find that order?
Oh... thanks that helps a lot. I didn't know it worked like that. Thanks!
Yeah, I just went and pointed it out for the devs because it's really not obvious. 😅
Is there any easy way to use 3rd party subclasses with the 2024 rules
I'd rather not just 1 to 1 homebrew it for every one of them
Not currently, they are waiting for the third parties to update content to the new rules
sigh
I prepared a lot of maps in the “maps” tool and before playing them, placed the fog of war according to the places my players cant immediately see. I did now encounter the following issue: the placed fog of war does not “stay in place”. After reloading the maps some time later, when I actually needed them, I had to fix the fog of war because it was not where I put it. It is no big deal but happened now several times, making preparations kinda pointless regarding fog of war.
In the attached screenshot you can see the issue: Fog of war is clearly shaped like the interior of the building and was exactly placed where it belonged. Now using the map the fog of war still h as the shape but is bigger and placed somewhere else.
Thank you - Can you please use the feedback tools/channels that the Maps team uses to send them this feedback? This will get them this info and feedback as directly as possible. We actually don't manage the Maps feedback here.
Also note that Maps is still in Alpha which means things are still being developed and things may be unstable or not work as expected (and do try clearing browser cache - some issues may just be a stale browser cache).
For leveling up a character I feel like DnDBeyond doesn't give enough information about new choices you have to make like amount of new spells, choosing a Subclass etc.
When creating a new character this is not a problem as I just work through the pages one by one, but when I only change the level I might miss stuff like choosing a Subclass or new spells, I wish it would somehow tell you the changes at your new level
@fading bramble Okay I see that the reason for the wizard is probably that they can learn as many spells as they want? But nonetheless you get a fixed amount of spells for each level-up, and I didn't see those indications in the "Spells" Tab 🤔
Thats just a limitation of the platform im guessing, but any mods are free to correct me
I see. a question about gold, im a newb so feel free to correct me, but you get a fixed gold amount from your background and then you choose between equipment or starting gold for your class.
One of my players plays a monk with custom background and he told me that he had 50gp to buy his equipment. I feel like this is too much, as even the "richest" background Noble starts with 25gp, and the monk has 5d4gp (13 average, 20 max) which would result in a sum of 38 average, 45 max. I don't know about the gold from custom backgrounds though, so where are the 50gp coming from? Or is there a mistake?
They can opt out of their starting equipment for gold yes
as for how they got 50...
You might want to talk with them
Equipment. Each background offers a choice between a package of equipment and 50 GP.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/character-origins#PartsofaBackground
Is that from the new rules?
So there is absolutely no reason for him to pick a random starting gold, as with a custom background he'd always have at least 50 where the Monk Gold is 20 max 13 average...
It depends if you're looking at 2014 Rules or 2024 Rules. 2014 Monk gold is the starting equipment OR 5d4 gold. 2024 Monk gets:
Choose A or B: (A) Spear, 5 Daggers, Artisan’s Tools or Musical Instrument chosen for the tool proficiency above, Explorer’s Pack, and 11 GP; or (B) 50 GP

any idea why dice other than basic black will not roll on the character sheet?
using chrome
im really confused... none of my features are characteristic of a spore druid
You can try hitting the main save button again to re-trigger the validator.
If everything's squared away, that warning should clear.
But also, those warnings only even matter if you're trying to publish it to the global community. If it's just for use in your own games, you can ignore them entirely and use it as-is.
@uneven lantern any idea why dice other than basic black will not roll on character sheet?
Seems to be working for me. (Just rolled a nat 20!)
What happens when you try to roll?
nothing, I click on the number and nothing happens
but if I switch dice back to basic black it works just fine
even the dice tray in the lower left doesnt work
Do you get the same issue in Incognito mode?
no it works in incognito
You may have a browser extension or some other setting that's interfering with the site's normal operation, then.
Can you try disabling all your extensions and see if that fixes the issue?
If it does, you can re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.
i just removed them all, and still doesnt work
I'm not sure exactly, then.
Incognito loads without any of your extensions, settings, cache, cookies, or anything else -- as if you'd just freshly installed Chrome.
i get that but you would think that it wouldnt roll any dice then
Yeah, I don't know why this one set works and the others don't.
But if the problem is resolved in Incognito, that suggests there's something wrong with Chrome itself.
You might need to play around with your extensions / browser settings, or maybe even reinstall it.
Probably a known issue, but the Rhythm Maker's Drum also gives its bonus to non bard spells
I got it, I needed to delete the cache
Yeah, that's a known issue.
All-Purpose Tool, Amulet of the Devout, Arcane Grimoire, Bloodwell Vial, Rhythm-Maker’s Drum, Moon Sickle - These items currently grant their bonus to all spells, rather than just ones for the specified class. We will work on the required modifier to resolve this.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/87774-tashas-cauldron-of-everything-issues-and-support
wait, i thought due to its wording, Amulet of the Devout actually gave the bonuses to other classes RAW
encounter not showing for player in my campaign. they've logged out and back in as well as cleared their cache.
For some reason, my 2014 level 9 light domain cleric has suddenly had the 2024 Aid appear as “always prepared” on my character sheet. I didn’t do anything to my sheet, it just appeared.
I believe that's a known issue that the devs are working on resolving.
Ah, brilliant. Thanks!
is there a game i could join?
#find-a-game can point you toward the available groups here. (This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond.)
I don't know if I can get the help here that I need, but I'm struggling with the support system of WotC, so I thought I try my luck here.
I preordered the 3 new rulebooks, physically and digitally, but since I'm from Germany I had to go to the international store. I got my physical book in a very timely manner, but I never received an e-mail with my digital code. I wrote the customer support over 2 weeks ago, and never got a reply. Is there another way to contact support? Is it normal that it takes so long?
The code should have been in a purchase confirmation email sent as soon as you bought it.
It isn't though. Maybe because it was a preorder?
I also didn't got a code with the shipping confirmation.
Usually you get a seperated e-mail, but that never arrived. I checked the spam filter and everything.
Are you saying you didn’t receive a purchase confirmation email when you made the order, or that the purchase confirmation email you did receive didn’t include a redemption code?
So it has been a month now and I still haven't received my physical copy of the 2024 PHB ordered through the DnDStore. I have submitted two support tickets, the first disappeared without being actioned and the second has been open for 15 days without being actioned.
No shipping notice, no updates or outreach about errors, no response from support. This is quite frankly abysmal customer service, and I'm simply just left to wonder what happened to the product I have paid for.
If anyone can provide me with other customer support channels I can pursue, I would greatly appreciate it. I also have the DMG and MM pre-ordered, but this experience is obviously making me reconsider that.
I think they’re very backed up at the moment. :/
Tickets are answered in the order they’re received, so the exact wait time will depend on how many tickets are ahead of yours.
I don’t know the current expected wait, though.
I suspect they’ll continue to close any duplicate tickets, though.
As long as you’ve got the one open, they’ll definitely get back to you as soon as they can.
Not trying to shoot the messenger here, but that's not really good enough. If there's some kind of huge delay resulting in late shipments and an overwhelming number of support tickets, it should have been clearly communicated to all affected via email to notify us. We shouldn't be left in the dark wondering what's going on only to be given speculative responses from a Discord moderator.
Discrepancy between DDB and PHB 2024:
Champion Fighter Class Feature Heroic Warrior:
PHB Pg. 96 calls out "give yourself Heroic Inspiration whenever you start your turn without it." There is no requirement for it to take an action.
DDB calls out that it takes an action.
I've passed that along for review. Thanks!
It may be an issue with a required field when programing or entering data. Just noticed the same thing for improved critical and Studied Attacks.
Hi. Trying to create an account on DDB. I create the account use Google then choosing my username, then I click on "Create my account".
From there, nothing is happening. Looks like a page is loading then it stops. Nothing more.
At the bottom there: "That username is taken."
You'll need to choose a different username before you can create an account.
Sneaky ! Good catch, thanks.
Yeah, I already told the devs it's a little too sneaky. 😅
How do I insert a formula into a subclass feature description?
At 1st level, the fiery energy within you grows restless and vengeful. In the face of defeat, it surges outward to preserve you in a fiery roar.
If you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to draw on the spark of the phoenix. You are instead reduced to 1 hit point, and each creature within 10 feet of you takes fire damage equal to half your sorcerer level + your Charisma modifier.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
So when a player looks at the description from their sheet, it will automatically show them the damage instead of having to calculate
My character has Aid always prepared but I can't seem to find a source as to why. (They're a Swarmkeeper Ranger/Wildfire Druid with the Quandrix Student background, but as far as I can tell none of these give prepared Aid.)
You can't enter it in the Description field, but you can in the Snippet field.
In this case, you'd probably want {{classlevel/2+modifier:cha#rounddown,unsigned}}.
Full instructions here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/25930-using-snippet-codes-in-your-homebrew
What is a Snippet?
Have you spotted on the character sheet that it tells you what each feature of your class/race does? Those are snippets.
When creatin...
Thank you
Just updated the suggestion above
That's a known issue for druids; it's not meant to be there.
yeah that one does, but that's unlikely to remain, as they will probably restrict it to cleric and paladin spells to keep it in-line with the rest, and function as intended originally
bye bye 1 level cleric dip for +3 to spell save dc and spell attack rolls
but also hello 1 level cleric dip for guaranteed heavy armor proficiency
win some lose some
One more question, when making a homebrew weapon that has a different damage die value than the original weapon base, how do I change that value. Such as if I have a weapon that does 1d6 bludgeon damage, but I want it to be a d10 instead?
Got the e-mail, not the code ^^
And yeah, having to wait so long for a response is... bad.
But knowing I'm not the only one is a small relieve.
You'll probably have better luck creating it as a Custom Action instead, directly on the character sheet. (Go to Actions and hit "Manage Custom" in the top-right corner.)
And the code isn't at the bottom of that email?
Nope.
I'm assuming this was for me?
Yes
Thank you. I know uses to you could do it while making the item
The code's supposed to be there in the purchase confirmation email. They won't be sent separately. If it's not there, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for customer support.
I use to be able to choose a pistol as a dedicated monk weapon, but I can no longer. What's up with that
Is your new character proficient with pistols?
Seems to be working for me. Can you share a link to your character?
omg I found it...
I always looked for codes, but it was hidden under a link that looked like a support link or something...
Thank you!
This is frustrating 😦
I've looked at everything on the sheet, and there's nothing that would stop if from being a monk weapon
Feel free to dm me if you find something out
Try manually adding proficiency with pistols specifically. Seems like that will allow the choice, at least.
I’ll pass that along to the devs for review as well.
I had to remove it and then re add it
Tyvm
Is there a way to make DND beyond only use 2014 rules?
There is not
ok thank you
How do I not track my unassigned characters in the my encounters?
I don't want them to show up in inititive
Edit the encounter, go to Manage Characters, open the three-dot menu for the character you want to remove, then select “Hide Character”.
Thanks!
Do you know if there's a way to keep an initiative list on the side while the party is in the DnD Beyond Maps?
Not yet
Anyone know if there is an issue with D&D beyond maps?
Trying to host my DnD maps in beyond but everyone else gets a screen that says the DM has not hosted a session. It shows that I have started the session but cant seem to make it work.
Did you hit the red Start Session button?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1570-d-d-beyond-maps-how-to-start-playing-today#Session_Controls
so are homebrew monsters not saving anymore
just spent 2 hrs making a monster and it doesn't show in my homebrew or in the monster list I clicked save like 5 times this is total BS
Sometimes homebrew can take up to 15mins to show. And depending on how many tabs of dndbeyond you have open it could be even longer
Does anyone know what the best way to get support regarding my still undelivered pre-order of the PHB?? I have submitted support tickets to D&D Beyond (Sept 21) as well as the international (Canada) D&D Store (Sept 25). Both have yet to recieve any response. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. If there is a better thread to post this on, that would also be appreciated.
Are you asking about the physical copy or digital?
DDB doesn't seem to let me add healing word or cure wounds as prepared spells. 9th level Orc druid, Circle of the Sea. Seems plenty of other spells are missing, even Druidcraft.
Sorry, I am referring to the physical copy. The digital is working properly.
seems like DDB is having some hiccups. I get 500 from time to time
unfortunately you'll probably have to wait for support to get to your ticket then. they are apparently pretty backlogged atm, so it may be a bit. make sure you dont open anymore tickets, as that will move you further down the line
Those spells are all in the Free Rules, so everyone should be able to access them. They definitely show up when I create a 9th-level orc sea druid.
Any chance you could share a screenshot? And a link to your character?
That's what I figured. But just thought I'd ask here. Thanks for your response.
Thinking of subscribing. How is the payment pulled? Monthly? Annually?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/134705501/HSdhXj
I've checked on Desktop - this seems to just be an issue for the mobile app. Desktop has the missing spells. Android Mobile app seems to be missing a good amount of spells from the list - seemingly including the more basic ones.
Have you downloaded the PHB or the Free Rules in the app?
Your choice, but an annual payment ends up being a little cheaper than 12 monthly payments.
not urgent but just weird. I have the source book for Cabal's Ruin but for some reason I can use the general search bar on the Beyond main page to find it. Thoughts?

There's no book on DDB by that name.

Anyone have the Book of Many Things?
Apparently it's compatible with the 2024 stuff, so I'm wondering if that means I won't have to enable "Legacy" for the content to show up for my players in D&D Beyond.
Everything in that book would be under "Expanded Rules", not "Legacy".
Makes sense. What of the backgrounds?
I phrased that question poorly. How would they look with the 2024 settings in mind? Would they already have affiliated Ability options connected with the Background?
They should, yeah. Lemme give it a try real quick, though.
So with a 2024 species and BOMT background, I do see that it adds an option on the Ability Scores page.
Though it doesn't show directly on the Background page.
But you'd definitely still get your increase.
Is there a known issue where Way of mercy monk cannot be choosed in dndbeyond anymore?
If you're trying to add it to a 2024 Monk, you'd need the 2024 PHB.
If you want to use the older version, you'd need to use the 2014 Monk class.
instead of
I edited my old monk but I cannot revert it to way of mercy anymore, it shouldn't be a 2024 character
Can you share a link to your character?
Oh i see
the legaacy class are at the bottom. my bad
i haven't used the tool in months
All good!
You do see it there once you've selected the legacy Monk, though, right?
Yup! thank you very much good sir.
As a DM of two campaigns in DndBeyond, is there a way to move characters from one to the other?
Or only the player who owns the character can do it?
You or the player would need to first remove it from the existing campaign.
But only the player could then add it to the new campaign.
I bought the digital player handbook and I keep getting this error when i click it. Everything else works 😦 This page isn’t working
www.dndbeyond.com is currently unable to handle this request.

So this page?

Seems to load fine for me.
And everyone should be able to view the table of contents, regardless of whether you've purchased the book.
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
What browser are you using? Can you try another one on your PC?
Chrome and Firefox both dont work. I've cleared cache/cookies/history and none of it worked .-.
It only doesnt work when I sign in though?
Can you add all races for dnd please
All the official races are already available.
And several third-party ones.
And lots of homebrew ones.
Does it work in Chrome's Incognito mode?
Works when im logged out, doesnt work when logged in
It's definitely an issue with your PC if your phone is working.
And if Firefox and Chrome are both doing it, that suggests it's maybe a networking issue or security software interference or the like.
Something that would apply directly to all the computer's network traffic.
But what that thing would be, I have no idea. 😅
Might be worth trying it on another network, if you can.
I saw a bear that you can be it looked amazing

Or you might done something like sign up through Twitch, and your Twitch account also uses your Gmail address to sign in.
I can't recall ever changing this and tried the only other emails I have for google, my twitch and I tried the wizard account which I'm already logged into so im not sure where to go from here.
You might need to talk to customer support about account recovery, then.

So, I just found out I won a copy of the new digital DMG. I already preordered it. Do I eat the charge or is there a way to get a refund?

So if I'm doing it right, if I want to build a 2014 character I just make sure Legacy is toggled, then I can choose to make 2014 or 2024?
Yeah, turning on Legacy will make the 2014 options available, then you just need to pick them.
You probably want Expanded Rules on as well.
