How much did you pay in total including tax for the discounted subscription?
Right now I paid 44$ + 2$ tax
So 46$ and some cents
Unless tax is going up in percentage next year idk how that 65$ price is right
It would depend entirely on the sales tax in your region
Well I mean sure but right now I payed 2$ in tax
Do you know what your standard VAT/tax is?
What nation are you in?
Romania
The bad news is that I have no idea why it was so low this time. 19% is standard VAT it would appear.
Yh idk
Idk how prices work on dndbeyond but I usually just pay the "sticker" price on everything I buy online
At least from European storefronts
VAT is FUn. However that future price does appear correct, seemingly. I'd have to verify with the team to be sure. I think it charged you at the books (5%) VAT this time.
I guess?
Tbh I thought not having VAT included in the price was illegal (at least in my country) but idk how buying from dndbeyond works since it's an US (I assume) storefront
It is US-based and all prices are in USD, not sure how that all works (not a lawyer etc.). What even counts as a book can be confusing with VAT so there's often a lot of questions around it.
Yh I guess, as feedback maybe dndbeyond should open a European storefront
Idk where to pass feedback along
Nvm there'a a feedback channel
This conversation made me go and check my book purchase from earlier and it doesn't seem to have any sale tax on it...
I'm in the UK, and we definitely do have VAT
How do I get my tax back :)) (joking)
Was it included in your purchase price instead of separate?
I don't think so. Two books including the 15% Legendary Bundle discount is $33.98
Edit for details as I will be offline for a while. I am in UK, and checked my address details are correct. The receipt on my card shows the amount in dollars in the image
Okay. I will have to bring this up to the team.
Go ahead đ
is it better to buy smaller bundles (race, spells, feats, etc) rather than the whole book for noncore dnd books i dont plan on using outside of character building?
Generally yes (in a "it would be cheaper sense"), but depending on what you are after, the full book during the current Cyber monday sale may be a better price for you.
im planning to buy the player bundle, and then the smaller race, subclass, spells, etc bundles from the other sourcebooks im interested in! im mainly thinking of buying on dndbeyond so i can easily build my characters (i dont care much about owning every book)
Whatever you spend on those individual items gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.
So if you do decide to get the book later, you wonât be paying any extra.
oh okay cool!! thank u so much ^0^! also just to confirm, is buying from dndbeyond worth it / do i still get access to the pdfs :0?
However, if the total of those all spells etc. purchases for any single book goes above the sale price, well, it's above the sale price.
How does canceling subscriptions go? I assume it just cancels the auto renew but I still have the sub active for the time I paid for?
Yep! Thatâs exactly how it works.
Thanks, so I can cancel the sub and will still have the full year (I just renewed it today, I don't like having things on auto renew)
There arenât PDFs. You can check out the free Basic Rules if you want to see what the books are like.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules
Um where would be a good place to ask about pricing for DDB? I have a subscription that is set to charge 54.99 on December 14th. Would it be better to cancel it now and buy the year with the 20% off?
Your subscription is due to end after the Sale concludes, so you would not be able to purchase a new sub. Cancelling now would stop auto-renew, you would still have a subscription until Dec 14th.
Okay. Thanks.
So you can't take advantage of the sale price to upgrade a subscription from hero tier to master tier?
That is correct.
i need help with a hombrew spell....its not showing up as an always prepared...as it should because its an oath spell..
Sorry for the late reply. The good folks over in #homebrew should be able to guide you through any difficulties you may be having
If your PC traits give your a + (or - ) on saving throws does the app dice roller account for the buff?
I've been trying for the past hour and a half to buy three books in D&D beyond before the sale ends but it always says that the transaction failed. I am pretty sure I have the right billing address and residence address too. Might someone know what is causing this?
Is it giving you an error code?
Welp
I would suggest you open a support ticket ASAP, then. Before the sale ends.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
You probably wonât get a response before it ends, but as long as itâs started during the sale, they can help.
That gives us a timestamp for your issue so you don't miss out on the sale, even if you aren't helped until it officially ends.
Is there a way to turn off auto renewing the subscription?
Also, the subscription cost doesn't seem to have gone through yet...I'm worried it will bill the undiscounted one.
Hey there, is there a way to add an action to a homebrewed item and have it show up on the sheet as a clickable thing or does it just need to be a custom action that you create yourself?
needs to be a custom action. for some technical reason I don't understand, you can't add Actions to items.
Unfortunate
Slightly odd that there's a modifier for "Melee Weapon Attack" in the modifiers section of the homebrew item creation tool(?) but I guess it just doesn't work.
Thanks for answering
If you cancel the subscription it will not auto renew but will remain through the current cycle.
There have been other reports of the billing itself being delayed, but as long as the subscription itself has been applied to the account you should be fine.
Please can someone help me. I'm making a homebrew subclass and don't understand the meaning of the choices under "Spell Prepare Type"? Half level" and "level".
I know why I choose but the words in the choices confuse me.
I believe that has to do with multi-classing as shown in https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/customization-options#Spellcasting, however we do have #homebrew for help with the tools. You can check out #channel-guide for all our channels.
Thank you.
i do not find the homebrew cannel you speak of...
?changes
Don't worry, your favorite channels aren't gone! We have changed our server somewhat, and there are some channels that are now only available to certain roles. Head over to #880965682462875679 to grab yours!
If you got to #880965682462875679, you can opt in to the homebrew role, to see the homebrew channel
You actually want the đď¸ Makerspace role, but otherwise, yes.
probably much easier to explain it to a new user that way, because the button you need to click says Makerspace, but I believe the role is still called "homebrew" no? Thats what I see on my profile anyway
Or is that the outdated version?
Yeah, the role process has changed a little as part of the server merge.
i got it, thx.
đ
In the encounter builder is there a way to hide completed encounters without deleting them?
Nope, there's no such feature
Can I submit this as request somewhere ? đ
#ddb-feedback is where they usually log our requests, but since you were talking to Davyd, saying it here might be enough
As a general rule, #ddb-feedback would indeed be the place to make suggestions. I'll pass this along
how do i see what books i own? like separate from everything else
ok, probably a dumb question, but how do I specify on a custom magic item that stores a spell, that that spell only has one charge per long rest?
I can set the item to have one charge per LR easily, but not the spell it stores
I don't think you can.
AFAIK, all official magic items gives charges only to the item itself.
And since the homebrew system is ultimately built to facilitate the official rules, things might not always be doable if you step too far off the beaten path.
But if you know of a magic item that does work that way, you can make a homebrew copy of it to see how it was set up.
Or you can do it by pairing the item with a homebrew feat that grants the spell instead.
Hey I have a question what do you use for crafting as a artifier state
I'm not sure what you mean by "artificer state".
I think "state" is probably a weird google translate mistranslation of infusion?
Is DDB officially partnered with Wizards of the Coast?
We're owned by Wizards of the Coast, they bought us early this year
(In a couple days, this will be the official D&D server.)
Oh, I was wondering, as I purchased a DND campaign from them, is it possible to get it online too? Or do you have to buy it seperately?
Outside of the few products here (which are all new), the physical books don't currently come with digital copies.
https://dndstore.wizards.com/us?icid_content=dragonlance-bundles
You can use DDB's free homebrew tools to recreate that content for your own private use, though.
Or you can buy just the parts you need, like a single subclass. Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.
Oh, I was looking to buy the fairy character, but it doesnt seem to come seperately
Do I have to buy the full pack to get it?
If you scroll down far enough you can purchase it individually for 1.99USD: https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/mordenkainen-presents-monsters-of-the-multiverse
thanks, I wasnt ready to spend 30 dollars again
I want to do this item, which has different command words. Speaking the third command word casts Fearie Fire, but only once per long rest
I found this
or this but none seem to do what I want
Long rest doesn't seem to recharge the item
is there a way to just see what books i own instead of every book available to buy (i am easily confused)
Not currently beyond looking in the marketplace (things owned will be marked as such)
I know I've seen the feature, but I can't for the life of me find it. On a spellcaster's spell list, how do I turn off the display of spells that can be upcast?
Awesome, thanks! Was doing some last minute prep for a session, so didn't see your reply until now. Thanks again!
Under Character Preferences (or if in the builder the Home tab, after toggling sources like CR or MTG), scroll down and Show scaled level spells is the option
Great, thanks!
Hello! When I make homebrew monsters I typically include the links to other rules. But then DDB always says my monster contains "external links." What is external about them? I don't have any other links. Why can we create the links but then not be able to share homebrew? Am I missing something?
You wouldn't use a link, you'd use a tooltip like [condition]stunned[/condition] to lead to the stunned condition rather than using a URL
You can find the full list of tooltips here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/9811-how-to-add-tooltips
But those warnings also only apply if youâre trying to publish it for the global DDB community. Otherwise, you can already use it as-is, and it gets shared with your campaigns automatically.
If in doubt, paste it into notepad, and then copy it back. That seemed to work well enough to eliminate hidden external links.
that's what i do. I didn't know of another way to link things like that.
I don't put any URLs in my text
That's why I'm confused. There are no "links" aside from tool tips
I dont' actually need to share any of my stuff. I sometimes get curious as to how people might rate something, but that's it. I've been using D&D Beyond for 5 years and every monster/npc I make shows the message about external links. Not once have I put a URL in a stat block. I only use tooltips. This time my curiosity wanted me to ask the community. đ
Are you using any browser extensions that might be injecting things into fields? Like a password manager perhaps?
no
I assume you mean like Beyond 20
I don't even keep the text DBB puts there for rollable functions. I take all that out and have just text aside from tooltips.
I was thinking specifically of password managers that might try and autofill fields. But any extension could potentially do something similar.
Only extensions I have are ad blocker and an adobe pdf extension
oh, and a dictionary
it does it with those off
Yeah I don't know what it is then - it was just an idea.
thanks
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Not sure if this is the place to ask but is there any option to have DNDbeyond generate a few pregen characters for a public game I will be hosting? I want players to have a fair amount of pregens to choose from.
You can use the random character functionality to quickly generate random characters
(relatively)
There is a character randomizer.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/builder/randomize
Or a quick build for level 1 characters that follows the recommended starting options.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/builder/quick-build
Thank you I will check them out when I get to my PC. When I looked for the randomizer I only found it outside of my campaign.
Yeah, you might need to create it outside, then add it to the campaign via the same invite link youâd send your players.
I hadn't thought of that. Thank you.
I don't know if this is a good place to ask this, but would I know if D&D Beyond will do another Cyber Week Deals with Subscriptions next year?
We don't announce sales that far out I'm afraid
Understandable, I'm just glad this exists so I can be prepared for next year. Thank you Davyd.
Are you asking if you can make class a feat prerequisite?
You can put anything you want in the pre-requisite field
How do I set a token as the character photo without a black empty space?
Can you be more specific with what you're trying to do?
You want #dnd-rules
sorry
I am trying to use a token, (made via tokenstamp2) as a character portrait. However, it appears as a token inside a black background.
Ah, presumably because it's round? You can't do anything about that other than maybe make the token into a square image (put it on a square, white background)
The avatar fields don't support transparency so they render it as black
Aside from my phone, I don't have another device to test. I have not tried another browser. I'll try fire fox and edge. Thanks.
Ahhh I see thanks!
Okay I have a subscription and five sourcebooks. I am testing now and i have invited players to my campaign so they can test out making characters. One of the players tried making a warlock but only got fiend as patron, but i tried it and had a bunch of choices. Whatâs going wrong here?
Have you enabled content sharing in the campaign? If so what do your and your players' entitlement sync states look like at https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
A character itself must be part of the campaign to get access to the shared options.
i invited them to the campaign and their character is on the campagin's list
heyo. not new to dnd or dnd beyond in general but i just have a question abt dnd beyond homebrew. So, see how monsters have their pages with all stats and stuff? If i want to add a spell where the whole spell slot rule dosent apply, should I mark it as an action?
i clicked that link and it says, "Your entitlements data is in sync! You should have nothing to worry about, but contact our Support Team if you're having problems accessing your purchased content."
Shared character options are usable only within the campaign that's sharing them. They'll have to join the campaign first.
(And if it still doesn't show after that, have them check their entitlements.)
Homebrew monsters are mostly just text. You can write that text in whatever way you think makes sense.
(If you're asking how official monsters would be written, that's more of a question for #homebrew. You'll need to get the đď¸ Makerspace role from #880965682462875679 before you'll see it.)
but how could their character show inside the campaign if they're not in the campaign?
Oh! Sorry, I misread. đ
ahh i see. thanks!
how do you check your entitlements on the ios app?
You can't do it from the app, it has to be done via the site
You go here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
(The entitlements should eventually sync on their own, so the other option is to simply wait.)
@flat lagoon What areas are you struggling to access
Well the main page loads, then keeps loading then it says âsite canât be reachedâ in my chrome browser
Can you link me to a page that's not loading?
You said that page loads?
It loads but I canât interact because it wonât stop loading
I've been navigating the site fine this whole conversation
Can you check extensions/vpn/antivirus aren't interfering
what does "enable content sharing" mean?
My android device can access it just fine though
Your players can use the books you own
okay
When Content Sharing is enabled for a campaign (by someone with a Master Tier subscription), everyone in the campaign can share their purchased game content with everyone else.
If that hasn't been enabled for your campaign yet, someone will need to do so before your players can use your content.
How do you manage infusions on the ddb app? Desktop has an option in equipment for it, but don't see something similar in the app.
I don't believe the app has that functionality yet.
For infusions, you have to edit your character to change them
The app doesnât let you apply those infusions to an item either, though, which I believe is what they were looking for.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/5951520-heated-hammer-2
Currently in the process of transcribing this item to DDB. Is there any way to force the DC and Spell attack mod of the spells cast from this weapon to be a certain ability score ( in this case CON). Also is where a way to increase the attack rolls and damage rolls of said spells by +2 without adding a custom override?
Also, any way to default the fire damage to max when a crit is rolled for the weapon and its spells? Similar to the Tempest Cleric's channel divinity
Some do. Repeating shot crossbow applies the +1/+1 automatically. I can't figure out how to use spellwrought tattoo though.
In order to do a tattoo of 1st level or a cantrip, you need to select replicate magic item. Once you do that, go to your inventory and scroll down to infusions and click on the Replicate Magic Item: Spellwrought Tattoo, click create infusion on the right, and then I would click customize and type in which spell you choose in the name or notes field
Not sure if the mobile app is the same
There's no way to have it temporarily appear on your spell list though? Have to just roll it manually?
Doesn't appear to be
A workaround could be a homebrew magic item with the specific spell in mind and name it spellwrought in your inventory. Give a name, a single charge for the spell, and make it a weightless item.
Should I wait till the first or if I sub today will it be every 30th what about 31st I only get payed at the end of the month
hey folks, having an issue in the monster builder. I've built a homebrew tabaxi monster, but the finished statblock keeps showing "legendary actions" even though I haven't ticked it on. Is there a fix for this?
You need to enable legendary actions, delete the placeholder text, then disable legendary actions
Hm. I tried that. I'll give it another go.
Yeah, still showing legendary actions on the stat block. Weird.
You deleted the placeholder text?
Can you provide a screenshot of what's showing on the stat block?
What happens if you enable the legendary action, add some random text, and save it?
It might have an errant space in the field?
That's a good spot; enable the legendary action field, click the code vide (between the " and paragraph), delete everything in there, disable legendary action, and save
Thanks Sorce!
okay I have another question. is there a space within the D&D beyond website that I can use to organize my campaign materials, or should I look elsewhere for that?
I believe most people use a note-taking app like OneNote or Notion.
#third-party-tools-archive probably has some other recommendations.
i don't seem to have that channel
Head on over to #880965682462875679 and get the đď¸ Makerspace role.
Hey, I'm new to dnd and are making a race for the first time, what do all the modifier types and subtypes mean/do?
There are a lot of modifier types and subtypes so it'd be impossible to tell you what they all do
What I would recommend is instead
- Design your race 'on paper'
- Find existing races that do similar things
- Copy them to see what modifiers they use and how they're set up
- Make your own race using that information
ah, good idea
when creating homebrew, how do i add the "advantage on cons saves when maintaining concentration"?
You have to specify it as text in the description
oh, just the description? i was hoping to do something like what you see in a finalized sheet, theres the letter A and it says when maintaining concentration
I'm not sure that there's a modifier for that. Your best bet would be to find an existing game object (spell, item, etc) that does something similar and copy that to see how it works
i see, cus the thing i was going is that theres a built in warcaster feat at 14th level in my homebrew
and when you have warcaster it gives the letter A thing
Then copy that and see how it's set up, then copy those settings to your item. That'd be my advice
Can't you just give them an advantage modifier with the detail "when concentrating on a spell"?
yea i didnt know you put it in the details, i just recently found out thanks to davyd
im not much of a homebrewer so i get lost at times sorry hahaha
"As an action, increase user's AC up to +4, while causing their hit dice and final damage output to be reduced by the same amount. The effect can be reversed, reducing the user's AC in exchange for increased hit & damage. The effects persist unless the user deactivates its effects (bonus action)"
Is there an easy way to implement this?
It's not possible to apply temporary effects to AC, to hit, damage etc
Alright, unfortunate, but thank you nonetheless
For temporary effects, what some of us do is add them to a homebrew item then equip the item to toggle the effect(s) and and unequip it again to turn it/them off.
I made a druid and exported the character to PDF. It shows all druid spells, not just the ones prepared. Is there a way to have it export only prepared spells?
(this is for a new player and I want to simplify things for them)
The PDFs export all known spells and you shade in (and erase) the dots to the left of the spell name to show what is prepared
(otherwise you'd have to export a new character sheet after each long rest)
I mean, that's nice, I like that, but for something like a one shot especially for new players it could save on paper and confusion
I'll just make little spell cards for them
hey how do i get the spelljammer adventure book Spelljammer Academy?
You can't I'm afraid; it was a limited window to claim it
If you find someone who has it and join a content sharing enabled campaign you'll be able to access it
um, so does anyone here know about the gateway error when purchasing something? i triple-checked my address (even found out literally everyone here says it wrong) and my area code. do i need to put my province name or abbreviation in the town/city name? does street address mean the physical house number or the mailbox number? or does the part with "name" on it require a middle name?
Did it give you an error code?
Also make sure your bank/credit card didn't just block the transaction.
Was it AVS gateway or CVV gateway as the error? Those are two different (but the most common) ones and have entirely different meanings.
hello, i have enabled content sharing in one of my campaigns but one of my players only has oath of devotion instead of the 7 options i have. how can i fix this?
they are in the campaign that content sharing is enabled in
right now i just sent them a screen shot of what should be available and have them reading it up on roll20 (since people cant read the books i own through share) and will change it manually, but im wondering if im just missing a setting or if its a bug
Can you have them check their account and see if their entitlements are in snyc?
And did they toggle the right elements in character creation? Like is the other oaths locked under different content settings? Like Magic the Gathering content?
What were the most recent core rulebook updates?
Opened dndbeyond app and there was an update to them and spelljammer today
Anyone knwo what changed?
Updates like the ones pushed out recently are technical or bug fixes. Nothing has changed rules wise, if there was a change, there would be errata issued.
They have the same settings toggled I do and I can see the other oaths.
I'm not sure what this means but il look in the morning before work.
My players have been having problems accessing shared content. I just recently bought Master Tier, so it should work, yeah?
I have tried syncing entitlements and its not working too
You've enabled content sharing in the campaign they're a part of, correct?
And they've all checked their individual entitlements are in sync as well?
Yes. Yes to both, it's really odd. Sharing is on, and entitlements are all synced.
How recently did you subscribe?
Cyber Monday was when I subbed.
Sorry for the real late replies, just came out.
What are you players trying to access, can you access it, and what happens when they try?
The players are trying to access, well, everything. Feats, races, subclasses. I can access it no problem, whilst they can't.
Is this for a character assigned to that campaign?
Shared character options work only within the campaign thatâs sharing them.
Yes, it's a character assigned to that campaign.
I had to do it myself on my end.
I postulated it was because it might need a day to fully initialise that they had access but
It didn't come through, I had to it the day after
Time could be a factor because of entitlements, but you said they already checked their entitlements were in sync, correct?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
Turning Content Sharing off and back on can also re-trigger that sync for everyone in the campaign.
Yep. Already did check their entitlements.
Will do that, try that out. Thank you for the help!
Good luck!
Does anyone have a resource for making dice rolls for homebrew spells?
If a dm has turned off Magic the Gathering content and is not sharing the book but the player owns that book will they still be able to access the spells from Ravnica within that game?
Dunno if this is the right channel, but is the 'looking for dm' section for like,, a group thats already formed looking for someone to dm their game? I have only been using looking for players so
Yes, they can still access it, unless they disable MTG content on their character sheet
Yes, that would be a valid use case
Ooh alright, thank ya đ
Disabling a book in Source Management only prevents them from reading the book (primarily to prevent adventure spoilers). It does not restrict any character options.
I've been having trouble opening the "Manage Spells" section on all Artificer characters on my mobile app. I've checked other spellcasters and they have no issue. Have to go to edit the spells on the website in the web viewer every time specifically for my Artificers since the window just never loads.
This is a known issue on the app that is with the team
Gotcha, sorry for bringing it up to y'all again
Nah, s'all good
Question) Is Magic The Gathering Associated with D&D?
Hi everyone! Just a question. I finally gotten master tier and I had enabled content sharing. My friends are able to see content on the web browser.
But the mobile app version they are unable to download the books even thou I allow content sharing
I'm not sure you can download books to mobile if you personally don't own it.
Oh. Thatâs what I wanna know
No, it should work.
Itâll show up in the library marked as âShared with youâ.
They should be able to download?
Have them try to force close and restart the app.
Yeah and even relog
I will ask them to try at a later time. Thank you so much
How do I grant a character Dunamancy spells?
having difficulty with the subscription, as I have gotten it through the iOS, I don't seem to have it fully linked with the web version?
I'm assuming one that doesn't normally get the spells? Two ways
- Create a homebrew background, feat, item, or subclass that grants them. This can be a copy of an existing option just modified to grant the spells
- Create homebrew copies of the spells themselves and make them available to the PCs subclass
Are you signed in on the same account on both devices?
I see. Thanks!
On feat though, how do I grant it without it being on a use/infinite?
Or it has to be, I just have to ignore the learned spell.
It has to be I believe, but it will appear in the spell list, the player will have to mark off the spell slot themselves
im having some trouble. I can't seem to link my normal discord account to my dnd beyond account, it says it's already linked to another dnd beyond account, a dnd beyond account that was connected most likely to a discord account that I deleted years ago. This was in the days where i didn't really care all that much about all of this. Is there a fix? or am I gonna have to migrate all my discord stuff over to this account. I really don't want to do that.
You might get more/better help in #ddb-avrae-help
Sorry to redirect you, I'm not entirely sure about how you inspect the linked discord account on avrae/unlink it
hai ^_^ i'm sure this has been answered before but i can't find it.
If i want to individually purchase the artificer class on dnd beyond, how do i go about that, do i just purchase a artificer subclass and the class will come with it?
Correct, purchasing any subclass (or the subclass bundle) will grant you the base class
Question:
Giff are granted proficiency in Firearms, but can't switch that proficiency to anything else in DDB via custom origin. is this a limitation of DDB or RAW?
It's following the rules that WoTC/D&D has published for Giff - as of right now I don't think there's been any updates or clarification on whether custom origin can change that.
no offense but I need an answer from staff here. you dont know anything more on the topic than I do.
This is a channel where members of the community can provide assistance and responses and is not a portal to guarantee response from staff
I would recommend reading through the spelljammer support thread
Welcome to the Support Thread for SPELLJAMMER: ADVENTURES IN SPACE.
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Be...
Question: I am playing a warlock in a new campaign, and my DM very kindly granted me access to three spells that I just know innately (based on backstory reasons). I have already selected the allotted 12 spells I know as a level 8 warlock, is there a way to add these additional 3 spells in DDB?
There isn't
Darn. Could be a great addition sometime in the future.
At least not directly to your known spells
You can just a feat with the spells that will give you a reference
Second Question: a homebrew feat I made is not showing up in the available feat options in the feats tab of my character sheet.
Do you have homebrew content enabled?
I couldnât find any ddb questions channel so Iâll just ask here.
Iâm genuinely just curious, why does my homebrew content have to follow the SRD if Iâm posting it for free on ddb. I though you only had to follow it if you wanted to make money off it.
Because homebrew content is available for free and only the SRD can be distributed for free
Should this life clericâs speed go from 30 ft to 20 ft when equipping heavy armor? I thought life clerics got proficiency? (Gotta have strength too!)
your strength isn't high enough
heavy armor has a strength requirement, if you don't meet it, your speed is reduced by ten feet
Sorry for asking another question but, wouldnât that mean the entirety of r/unearthedarcana would be going against the SRD. Cause their whole thing is free homebrew stuff
r/unearthed arcana isn't an official source. but also they do have to play nice by the SRD rules
or WOTC could request a takedown
I can't comment on how other sites conduct themselves
If the Armor table shows "Str 13" or "Str 15" in the Strength column for an armor type, the armor reduces the wearer's speed by 10 feet unless the wearer has a Strength score equal to or higher than the listed score.

D&D Beyonds policies cover D&D Beyond, we don't enforce them on other sites.
Oh so itâs specific to ddb, i thought it was an international thing
No, you misunderstand
We cannot comment on whether or not other sites are appropriately using the srd when it comes to distributing game content
It's literally not our responsibility
Right then, thanks!
If you want to distribute content from D&D legally, such as including spells in your homebrew, it must only be from the SRD
if you hop over to the homebrew channel I can give a little more general homebrew guidance, Parrotboi
D&D Beyond also ensures that only SRD content can be embedded in homebrew (such as spell lists) to ensure it functions for all users
I keep getting this error message "There was a problem joining the campaign with that character."
And no the campaign was not full, and it's doing this with all campaign links
Yes I do
Do you get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
yes and yes
Are you trying to add an existing character or create a new one?
existing, and I've tried it with the other 5 existing ones too on that account
Do you know how many players have joined that campaign already? (Campaigns can have up to 12 players.)
hey i have a wand of fireballs and thunderbolts but in spells i dont see them
idk what to do
did you equip them?
did you attune to them (if they need attunement)?
i have them equips yes
also it might be in actions and not spells
thanks, i signed out a few people and it worked, I wish the error message would just say that tho
hey guys. I'm trying to download a character that I created at DDB but whenever I download it, it downloads an older version of the character as a lv 20 fighter that I used for testing instead. How do I fix it?
how to add fly speed to homebrew subclass?
Yeah, it can, by adding a Modifier.
Type: Set
Subtype: Innate Speed (Flying)
Fixed Value: (enter the number in feet, or leave blank to match your walking speed)
Trying to use âExport to PDFâ, you mean? It will caches the download in your browser for a short time. You can wait, clear your cache, or try downloading it in another browser.
By the way, for asking for help on if the spell's effect matches with the spell mechanics on the DDB side, where do I go, here or #homebrew?
Officially, #homebrew is the place to go for homebrew help.
(But we usually answer any questions that pop up in here anyway.)
Oh, I'll go there, to follow properly!
I also have no idea if I should be asking here or not, but I'm trying to figure out why this homebrew expanded spell list isn't working on Beyond
I'm trying to add an expanded spells list for a homebrew Sorcerer subclass, but for the life of me I can't get them to appear on the character sheet. I've tried adding them individually using Add a Spell, as a group using the same option, and using the Additional Spell List to add them that way, but none of it seems to be working and I don't know why
Essentially, I'm just trying to give this sorcerer subclass some additional spells that don't count against their known spells and are always prepared. Does anybody know how to properly get it to work?
Is there a way to create magical items that act as containers in D&D beyondâs homebrew creation system?
DND beyond doesn't have a good way of making a thiefling with reborn qualitites does it?
I gotta do that stuff in my own way me thinks?
Well it works the other way around (you make a reborn and give them the listed properties they inherit from being a tiefling)
This can all be done on the character sheet
You only keep skill proficiencies and fly/swim/climb speeds which can be set directly on the sheet
ah so things like dark vision, hellish resist and infernal legacy just fades out
The rules for gothic lineages don't say they carry over, so they don't
a'right cool.
Thank ye :3
Glad to help
Hi all, I'm new here, I have ddb mobile app and it works fine, but I'm unable to login with Google on PC
Additional Spell List will only add it to their spell list (so that they can be manually prepared). Add a Spell is definitely what you want here. There should be an option inside for âAlways Preparedâ.
Just be aware that it can sometimes take up to 15 minutes for homebrew edits to appear on your character sheet.
And you can always make a copy of an official subclass that adds always-prepared spells if you want to see exactly how those were set up.
No, but you can customize an official container after adding it to your sheet. Just click on the container name, then open the Customize section in the sidebar.
What happens when you try to log in, exactly?
nothing
I solved the problem by linking my twitch account.
Using the mobile app -> support -> search for link accounts -> click on My Account link -> which opened it in my mobile browser -> I link twitch -> on PC login using twitch đ¤ˇââď¸
Login with Google still doesn't work for me.
Can you be more specific?
At what point does ânothingâ happen?
Literally nothing, after clicking on Login with Google, nothing happens. of course if you open the browser's console, there are errors there, and some requests failing.
Itâs likely being blocked locally, then. Can you check to make sure pop-ups and third-party cookies are both allowed?
You might also have an ad blocker thatâs treating it as a social media tracker.
How do you change Psionic Spells out?
Is sale over? Tweet says last day, store says no discount.
Here's a question: I want to give a player a feat because of story reasons, however there is a requirement that they don't meet. How can I give it to them anyway?
You can make a homebrew copy of that subclass and change it there.
ugh
I reached out behind the scenes to try and get some clarification here.
You can turn off Feat Prerequisites in the character settings.
(It will still group all those feats at the very bottom of the list.)
Thank you!
Hey yall
Need some help
I own all the source books
But can't get my races to pop up
Why is my stuff not working
That looks like the books are being shared with you by another user. Correct?
Yes
You will only be able to use those books if you are making a character in a campaign setup by the person who shared it with you
But it allows the elemental and dmg as the regular handbook
Not just in normal create a character
Your welcome
Is there a way to make a virtual map?
Not in DDB, no. (Though it will be integrated with the upcoming D&D Digital Play Experience.)
Those sale prices should start reappearing now. Thanks for the report!
What is D&D Digital Play Experience? Is that a vtt ? Also, are there any underground rumors going around on the subject of a DDB vtt ?
I am not dure if this the right place, but is it possible to tap something to find out where the pluses from attack, initiative and skills come from, like by AC?
Check out the video here, about four minutes in:
https://youtu.be/OpI7J9vtbnw
Not generally. Is there one you need help figuring out?
Oooooh awesome, cheers friend !
I would just like the ability to see what is in the numbers.
is there a way to see what content I don't own? Like a toggle?
Want to maybe buy some with the final day of sale
The Marketplace automatically filters out content you own. (Except on the Featured page.)
it does not seem to be the case for me. All it does is show everything but it shows "you already own this" I am asking if I can filter what I don't own.
You are on the Featured section - the filter applies to Bundles, Sourcebooks, and Adventures - options on the lefthand side
Ah okay. How do I see what I don't own?
Click on the Sourcebook option, the marketplace automatically filters (and you'll see the filter option to disable on the appropriate sections)
As we are saying - go to the Sourcebook OR the Adventure section.
It automatically filters to show you what you dont own
Can I get a screenshot? I am not understanding I am definitely trying to follow instructions but it still shows me things I own
From the screenshot you just provided - on the left - there is categories. Click the 3rd option to go to the SOURCEBOOK category
in the sourcebook (and adventure) categories, it filters based on what you own
Oh! I had the filter on still im so sorry and ty for your patience
im so sorry -_-
No worries, as Spam said earlier, the Featured page doesn't have filters, so you need to select the entire sourcebook or adventure categories to see all products.
its weird that it says I have nothing left to buy, but there are some stuff that others are sharing with me that I don't seem to own.
Perhaps it is discontinued content? Or it might be content that was a promotional claimable (that you had not claimed)?
ah...dang ok. Well hope ya'll decide to allow it to be purchasable one day for us collectors at heart đ
What content specifically are you referring to?
Hey there, I'm hoping for some advice (I was going to make a joke about casting guidance here, but changed my mind...kind of).
One of my party have found a special homebrewed mace, but I don't want them to know exactly what it is, until they get someone to cast identify on it. As such I homebrewed a "Mystery Mace" based off the +1 Mace
The only issue is that its not operating like the actual +1 Mace.
With their strength being a 13 giving them a +1 bonus, and the +1 Mace's +1, they should be rolling with a +2, but instead it's only giving them a +1.
Has anyone got any clue what I may be doing wrong?
Possible that the homebrew item requires attunement and they havent attuned?
Can someone explain why I can access Custom Lineage on one character but not on any new character?
Is it connected to a campaign with content sharing enabled and has access to Tasha's?
Also did you enable custom lineage on the character before you began building the character?
It was but that campaign is closed.
And I did enable it
Well the character is technically yours so even if the campaign has been closed, everything the character had while in that campaign will continue on at least as far as I know.
I can't find tiefling blood of glasya for one of my members in my campaign
what can I do
Hello I'm using the D & D encounter Builder and I wanted to see if I could use one of the characters that I created in a different campaign and put it in there to see how it does
Okay, I made this spell:
Five pillars of divine energy materialise in the air and strike towards a point, releasing the energy on contact. Each creature in a 30-foot-radius sphere centered on a point within range must make a Dexterity saving throw for each pillar of divine energy. A creature takes 2d8 radiant damage for each failed save, half as much on a success. If a creature fails every Dexterity saving throw against the pillars, that creature takes an additional 1d8 radiant damage for each pillar.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the number of pillars increases by 1 for each slot level above 5th.
How do I do this for the homebrew system?
I am confused on how exactly to manipulate the modifiers and parameters, so simple spells like damage, I can do, but not multisteps like this.
Hi all, Iâve always been a little bit confused about how HP works on dndbeyond when making a character that is not level 1.
Iâve just made a level 6 character and want to roll for HP just like I would have done if I have levelled that character through a campaign, but it gives me an HP similar to (but not exactly) average HP. I have clicked Manual on the character settings.
How do I do it so I can roll the HP and add it to the absolute base HP that character would have?
Give me one second to pull up a character so I can provide some screenshots
Here is a level one character (wizard) with a +3 to Con and HP set to manual. As you can see, Rolled HP is set at 6 because at level one you take the max possible roll and then add your con (for a total of 9 hit points)
Say I want to make a level 5 PC. I've made my PC including setting their level to 5 and now I just need to do the hit points. The character sheet already does the bit where you add con, as you can see here: I've got a +15 from Constitution (+3 x 5 levels), but the rolled hit points still says 6. That's because I haven't updated it for my rolls
I need to roll 4d6 (One d6 per level up) and add that to the current rolled hit points.
I can do that using Avrae if I wanted, with the command !roll 4d6+6
That gives me:
Result: 4d6 (3, 4, 2, 4) + 6
Total: 19
So I replace the 6 in Rolled HP with 19
There we go
Rolled HP is only for the total of the hit dice you've rolled for levelling up
If I levelled this character to level 6 and rolled a 3 for hit points when levelling, I'd add that to the 19 (as the sheet automatically adds the Con mod) for a total rolled of 22
@vapid coyote Hope this helps
Thanks so much for the reply. This is what I thought would be the case, but I have levelled a character from 1 to 6, that has +1 Con and in rolled HP it says 37.
(a paladin btw)
That might be inherited from fixed
Gotcha.
So without taking my character down to level 1 - With Con +1 and a hit dice of d10
Should my level 1 HP been 11?
And then for each level I went up, d10+1
(5d10 +5)
I think that sounds right
checking brain math ...yes, that sounds correct
Fixed HP is calculated at n + (l-1)(n/2) where n is the size of your hit dice and l is your level (for the rolled value only)
Looks like Algebra is finally being used.
For total HP it's n + lc + (l-1)(n/2) where c is your con mod
Amazing. Give me a few hours to work all the above out haha
Haha, lemme put less obtusely:
Max hit dice + Con mod times level + Half your max hit dice times your level minus one
Or even simpler
half your hit dice, plus your con mod, times you level, plus half your hit dice again
l(n/2 + c) + n/2
I think I get it...
It should be noted that fixed is different from taking the average; for taking the average you round up rather than down so you'll have a slightly higher max hp
Thank you
Hi, I want to ask if its possible to create a homebrew item that I need.
I gave ma players a ring used for storing and quickly accesing 1 potion at the time. I would like to add a potion only container with 1 slot so my players would be able to remember whats inside easily. I can't find an option for creating such containters
A container is just a container. It can't restrict what type of items are placed in it. Also, you can get good homebrew advice from other homebrewers in #homebrew
Anyone else experiencing 404 errors? I just lost all of my work on a homebrew spell cause of a "maintenance" 404 screen.. :c
Where are you seeing it, as I am not running into any errors.
Sorry, it cleared up pretty fast, but i did lose my work. It was right after hitting "save" on the homebrew spell page.
how do I force a weapon to roll disavantage
Right click/press and hold, then select 'Disadvantage'
I homebrewed a gun
ah
I can't force it okay
oh I screwed up in making it :p
I gave all my stats dissavantage
I only want it to dissavantage on attack rolls
dex attacks
Basically by player is going to have the only gun in the world they invented it and I want them to have disavantages when firing
????
but when I equip the gun
it give all my stats disavantage
Why not just make a standard weapon and use the standard "right-click to roll disadvantage" functionality?
I want to make it do it automatically
but then again my friend more likley to use their own dice
okay fixed it
DnDBeyond generally follows the traditional tabletop experience - it does not automatically add advantage or disadvantage or enable limited-time effects or statuses and track them. That's up to the player's to manage and track.
how would I increase the misfire?
I don't have access to that channel didn't know it existed
Go to #880965682462875679 and choose Makerspace
Fixed it thanks Idk what that one ment
How can you make an item add things to the spell list rather than give you spells at will or by charges?
everytime I unprepare a spell I refresh and it's prepared again
You can now find a link to this on the table of contents, between Appendix E and Credits.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/sotdq
Yay
Is there a way to create a an easy way to roll with a dice modifier hunter's mark for example a customized longsword that rolls 1d8+mod + 1d6(hunter's mark) without having to roll damage then open the dice roller to pick a d6 ?
I'm not getting the Ability Score Improvement option for my character that reached level 8. I've multi-classed, but that didn't effect it last time.
Getting ASI is based on class level. Like when you reach level 4 in any class.
if you're 5 and 3, you won't get a second ASI. If you're 4 and 4, you get both.
What Aud said. Was about to type the same :)
It's basically just a class feature that everyone gets. You need to be the appropriate level to get a class feature.
Quick question: Are the creatures presented in Monstrous Compendium Vol 2 part of the dragonlance book, or its own thing?
its own thing, but they're generally speaking dragonlance monsters.
It's not like you can't use the Foresworn in other games, for example. But Verminaard specifically, probably only Dragonlance. Also, the adventure will have all of its specific things in it.
Awesome, thanks. Yeah, Verminaard, Ember, and the Irda are very novel-related, so I was thrown off when I went in thinking they were pulled from the adventure book
DDB is down?
it seems to be, i can't open it either
same
Sometimes they do server updates - give it 10 minutes and try again.
Please give us some time to look into this.
Our encounter builder isnât registering initiative rolls if that helps you
I'm a bit new to DDB and really new to DD in general. I purchased some of the physical media but I have come across the gift sets on the site. It claims to have physical and digital access. Does this only apply to purchasing the gift set online, or does it apply to local shop purchases of the same gift set?
Afaik itâs only offered online. I think in both DDB as well as WotC.
Honestly the cheaper option is to wait for the sales and buy them separate so you donât pay as much for shipping.
Thats what I was seeing on the D&D website. The only issue with buying individual is that they don't provide digital access codes for anything but the gift sets. At least thats what I've found.
I appreciate the insight and help
For the Site issues - we have got that Alarm spell going and Wizards were notified - team are looking into it now.
site appears to be back up
The Wizards have recast some rituals and all systems are looking good. Crossing my fingers that we are back on track. Thanks for the reports so we could sound the alarm!
What does Manage Custom do? When I create something there I do not see it anywhere on the character record
I can't access the book that is "Available December 6", on December 6, as it takes me to the store page to tell me I own it. It's put up as 'preorder now' despite it saying it is available today.
This will be going live in US hours on the 6th. I believe we are looking at around 15ish hours from now? (as I sit here converting time zones with my fingers). There will be the usual announcements and posts when this is live.
Custom Actions will display, you need to ensure you have selected the correct action category, otherwise they sit at the bottom of the list rather than in action vs bonus action, etc.
Rrrriiiiggghhhtt.
So it should actually display the time it means, american hours 6th day, instead of a false time.
Thanks I did not see the Display as attack check box. Thanks
How do I figure out what D&D Beyond Account is liked to my discord account
Well normally you login via Google, Apple, or Twitch user accounts - so do you remember which one you used to create your DDB account?
Oh - to see which Discord account is linked to your DDB account, login to DDB and check your Account profile
I made one with a email I no longer have acess to and I can't link my new DnD beyond account the one where I actually made purchases with to my discord now
I need to figure out what my account linked to my discord is, not the other way around any ideas?
Okay in that case I suggest reaching out to Customer Service for account support: https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us
Are you trying to figure it out for Avrae use?
yes
Can you go to #ddb-avrae-help and try !ddb-debug - this should tell you the username of the DDB account
Thanks that was the command I was looking for
Books **aim **to release at 7am Pacific Time. Emphasis on aim
And as for the somewhat derogatory 'false time' comments; it's a given that companies will list times and dates based on their local time zone, something that has been stated multiple times for D&D Beyond
My dm gave me an extra feat unrelated to level, is there any way to translate that to my dnd beyond character?
Yep, go to your character sheet, then select the 'Features and Traits' tab
Select 'Feats', then 'Manage Feats'
From there you'll be able to add feats outside of level progression
Thank you
Iâm not sure if this is needing help so much as a question but do we know at what time today the Dragonlance book releases? or if it already has I would like to inform you that I paid for it and have not yet recieved access to it
3PM UTC! So about an hour and 10 minutes from this message :D
Keep an eye on #dnd-social-feeds! There will be an announcement when the book is fully available.
Is it alright if I ask around for help from someone who knows the ins and outs of the homebrew system for DDB well?
It's kinda hard to follow sometimes, and I was hoping there's someone I could ask.
I have a somewhat understanding of the home brew system, so ask away
Ah, thanks. When making a consumable that could have a drawback given enough use, should there still be a condition applied in the mechanical side or is that something that is not possible and should just be adjudicated on
That's not something the system is designed for.
If it is a consumable then it is impossible to make a drawback, since by definition a consumable can only be used once
Ah, no, I meant in the case of multiples.
But as spamandtuna says, okay, gotcha
As for magical restoration, there's no parameter in modifiers for regaining spell slots, yeah? So it should just be relied on the description for the effect?
Correct
Alright, alright.
As for a spell, if a spell deals additional damage in specific circumstances, should the damage for that still be in the parameters or is that also something the description should be relied upon?
Additionally, said damage also increases per level of the spell, so I wondered how to apply that, if I should also write that in the mechanical side
For those, I'd suggest making a homebrew copy of one of the official spells that works like that. Then you can peek inside and see exactly how it was set up.
Hi im just having a problem understanding between legendary bundle and source bundle? like Does the Source Bundle have all the sources for creating character classes and subclass
All books fall in one of two categories: source books (which are primarily rules additions) and adventure books (i.e. campaigns).
the source bundle gives you all the content under the "sourcebook" category, the adventure bundle gives you all the content under both categories iirc
The Legendary bundle is those two groups combined: it's every book.
Note that some adventure books do contain character options as well. The Dragonlance adventure book that releases today has the new Lunar Sorcerer subclass.
If you want character options only, there is the Player Bundle. But know that doesn't include races or that many items
(If the subclass is all you want, you can buy that individually instead. Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.)
By the way, have an idea for something similar?
The Player Bundle does include a number of races from the PHB, plus magic items from XGTE and TCOE.
Did Beyond recently stop allowing sign ins in incognito mode?
Oh wait, maybe it's Twitch.
Blight, maybe?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/blight
Or you can look for other options here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells?filter-tags=5&filter-source=1
Hm, that is similar, let me see
The character options from Dragonlance arent showing up in the builder. But i am able to access the book
The book is still rolling out. There will be an announcement in #dnd-social-feeds when everything is fully available.
Ahh okay
When making a homebrew subclass, how do you insert a table into a feature description (such as the table showing spells received at various levels)?
Copy it from somewhere else and paste it in.
Or hit the <> Source View button in the toolbar and add it via HTML.
...wow I over thought that
Maybe it's because I'm on mobile but the copy-paste option isn't working. I'll have to figure out how to do the html method ig đ
@fast wagon we have homebrew, art and channels for paid game advertisements. They are tied to roles you can look up in #880965682462875679
Thanks
whats the difference between the Artificer in tashas and the one from eberon? cuz a buddy wants to be an Artificer but he doesnt wanna pay $30 for tashas
The tahsa's one comes with a 4th subclass, and its choices for Infusions are slightly different, I believe
Armorer is not included with Eberron
why cant i buy the one from tahsa's on its own? but i can for ebberon?
Neither book has an option to buy Artificer directly, but purchasing any Artificer subclass (from TCOE) will unlock it for you.
Alchemist, armorer, artillerist, or battle smith.
TCOE?
Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (TCoE) is an official sourcebook containing options for players and DMs. Learn more: https://dndbeyond.link/discordTCOE
Anyway, when the class was reprinted in Tasha's, there were a number of updates. Those updates were applied as errata to the previous book, so today, they're identical.
I think the only remaining difference is that the Armorer subclass is exclusively found in Tasha's.
Hi there - dunno if this was intended or not but picking the Mage of High Sorcery on the background choices when you create a character, there's no option dropdown menu to choose from as you start with the Initiate of High Sorcery I assume, when you pick that background
Adding to my above sentence, I can choose manually for the feat on my character sheet, but there's no option to pick for the part where it says "Your spellcasting ability for this featâs spells is Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma (choose when you select this feat)." It says 'No Choice Made' and I don't see a dropdown menu for that
While both backgrounds are available in the character builder - each Background also grants one of the new Feats presented in this book. Unfortunately the system for automatically granting these feats isn't quite ready - so in the meantime, you manually add the Feat via the character sheet, as shown in the .gif below:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/157621-dragonlance-shadow-of-the-dragon-queen-issues-and
As for this, you can click on the feat to "open" it. You'll then find that option at the bottom, beneath the description.
There we go, found it! Thank you. đ
I had to click the little arrow to see all the options, but I'm all good now
Can you be more specific? What kind of help do you need?
Ah okay . Then in that case reaching out to customer support via the form was the right thing to do. They do respond in the order they receive it but it can take several business days.
i got an email from them just it wasnt much help
So they did respond or was it a generic âwe got your ticketâ?
we got the ticket
Okay then just be patient until they respond in detail to your issue.
Is there any way to roll a handful of dice from a character sheet? For example I can create a customized Longbow +1 that adds in my sharpshooter bonus but is there a way to ALSO roll my hunter's mark 1d6 when I roll the damage die? I tried to create a homebrew magic item but failed.
Not in one action.
Feel free to submit that in #ddb-feedback
but I should also be able to add extra dice for say Hunter's mark or bless or somesuch
I will - I wonder what folk think
Itâs a good idea but not sure how feasible it would be to actually program or implement.
And I wanted to make sure it can't already be done
Yeah not on the sheet currently. But definitely submit it.
when are the subscriber perks for december coming out?
I'm having trouble getting class feature options to show up when in the character options to show up. Im trying to make a fighting style class feature similar to the College of swords bard. When I try to make the options to pick a fighting style they don't show up in the character builder. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if im encountering a bug or if im doing something wrong. the only thing i could find on it was from a bug that was fixed 2 years ago screen shots below
Are they showing up now? Sometimes homebrew edits can take up to 15 minutes to appear on your character sheet.
If not, try looking for a field in your class feature called âClass Levels Where Options Knownâ. Thatâs used to control when players get to make a choice.
Putting a 3 there would give them a single choice at level 3.
they did not, I changed the Class levels where options known box just now I have to go run Errands Ill check it out when I get back, Thanks for your help!
Most likely explanation is that you might have accidentally signed in with a different account without realising?
We don't delete characters from our side, that's a user action (unless a user is having a technical issue and requests a character deletion, but that has to be confirmed)
We do lock characters if a subscription lapses, but never delete
no I havenât and i never have signed outâŚ
Good day, i wanted to ask does anyone know how i can get in contact with the DND beyond team. I am from a uni group and we would like to buy some books but need to jump through some admin hoops to get the uni to pay.
Can anyone give me some help on this ?
I need to get them to send me a bank letter so the university can add them to their finical system.
But i cant find any direct way to email them
Your best bet would be to put in a customer support ticket here: http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
However, I'm not sure this would be something D&D Beyond can provide
Hi,
Is there no subscriber perk for this month? I've claimed the Treasure Hoard Dice Set for November, but it's not updated for December yet.
The perk for this month hasn't yet been announced
They normally are announced sometime into the month, rather than on the first
unfortunately still not showing
Can you share a link to your character sheet?
Thanks @modest pelican @lone void
im new and i have no idea what im looking for
Hello, I suggest checking the pinned messages in #dnd-newcomers
Quick question, i want to do something fun, but knowing my players i need stat block for a monster.
monster = Giant Corgi ^*
its the size of a Horse and they runs in flocks
@eager crystal You want #homebrew
If you can't see it, you'll need to grab the Makerspace role in #880965682462875679
okey sorry đ
On D&D beyond, with the new "Lunar Sorcery" subclass, it's giving me access to all the spells under the "moon phase" selection. Instead of just the one it's supposed to. I.e. I selected "Full Moon" but have access to Shield, Ray of Sickness, and Color Spray. When I should only have access to "Shield"
Your meant to have access to all phases I think it just certain phase afffect what free casting you get and certain schools of spells
Ahhhh okay
im confused with the subclasses it only shows one insted of all of the subclasses
D&D beyond only shows the content you own (or are in a campaign with someone who is sharing and owns it) - thus only the subclasses available in the basic rules are free
Ok so I press log in with google, it loads for a bit then nothing happens
anyone know why?
Do you have any extensions, such as ad blockers, that could be causing a problem. Does your browser allow popups and third party cookies?
thanks, i disabled my ad blockers and it worked
ok thank you
how do i make a feat that adds +1 to attack rolls with melee and ranged weapons?
Looks like youâll probably need two different Modifiers.
Type: Bonus
Subtype: Melee Weapon Attacks
Fixed Value: 1
The second is the same, but using the Ranged Weapon Attacks subtype instead.

I'm trying to buy some stuff for my kiddo, what would be good to purchase? Map, books...Christmas help.
You mean dnd related, right?
This channel is for getting help with the D&D Beyond services.
does anybody know why I cannot create any characters on my computer website or view my characters on the Beyond Dungeons and Dragons web site
What are you seeing when you attempt to access your characters?
I get nothimg
What do you mean by nothing? A blank page on My Characters?
blank page other than the titles of the other parts of the Beyond Dugeons and Dragons main page
Can you provide a screenshot?
Also what happens when you try to make a character? (Again, a screenshot would help)
when I try to make a character it does not even give me a list like character race and class you know all the things you get when you try to create a character on the character creation page
make no sense I can still do it on my cell phone though
Have you got any extensions installed in your browser or tried another browser?
Can you post a screenshot? I don't believe D&D Beyond have a browser extension
Correct, there is no official D&D Beyond browser extension.
you are right that was just something I left on I guess for a favorite site
hey guys what happened to rick and morty? i ordered the game psysical and wanted to buy it on dnd beyond. sadly it was removed like one month ago
The license agreement with Adult Swim expired
is there any way to still buy it somewhere?
or is it excpected to turn back to dnd byond?
thank you i saw that too i thou8ght maybe there is a workround or something like that to still access the content even if i haven't bought it. i would buy it but 2 month too late đŚ
is anyone having trouble finding the fairy race from Witchlight even though you own Witchlight on DDB?
Did you purchase it yourself, or is it being shared with you?
It might be listed under Monsters of the Multiverse. I think that is where the individual purchase of the race ended up on the Marketplace
Need help with one of my homebrew magic items. It says that "This homebrew Item has text that includes External Links" and because of that, it can't be uploaded.
However, the only links I have are links to a spell, and links to the Madness Table in the DMG Sourcebook, all in DND Beyond.
Unless youâre trying to make it available for the global D&D community, you can just ignore those errors. The item is already usable in your campaigns as-is. You donât need to publish at all.
It would be cool to make it global. But I know it'll work for my campaign
If you are going to publish, youâll have to remove the links, like it says.
You can switch the spells to use tooltips instead:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/9811-how-to-add-tooltips
But I donât think thereâs an alternative solution for Madness.
Should I just try to copy and paste the madness table then?
That would also make it inelligible for publishing.
Why?
Anything you publish has to be your own original work.
Website has to abide by SRD/OGL
Okay so someone sent a link to their DND campaign. I clicked the link and proceeded to login but it didnât work it just keeps taking me back to the login with google, apple, or twitch options. Iâm on an iPhone
Iâve no idea why itâs not working
@little plume what happens if you sign in on one tab and in another, load the invite link while signed in on the first?
D&D Beyond is the official digital toolset for D&D fifth edition. It includes a digital marketplace for all official books, which integrate with our various tools including an encounter builder, character builder, and homebrew tools
Ah thanks that worked
That's not a question for this channel. This channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond site, tools and services. You want #dnd-discussion and/or #third-party
When I attempt to log into my Google account, it wasn't recognized
That probably means you're not entering valid google credentials
If you attempt to log in with a valid google account that isn't linked to a D&D account, the system will make a new D&D account for you
Will I have to contact admin to get it re connected?
If it's not being recognised, that means you're putting in the wrong details
We can't help you with that
To clarify: we can't help you recover your Google account. If you need help recovering your DDB account (because you can't access your Google account), you'd have to open a support ticket.
What is the DND Beyond support service link
Thanks
I purchased Out of the Abyss on D&DBeyond a couple of weeks ago. I'm about halfway through reading it and I've noticed several typos and some things tagged wrong for the mouseovers and links. Questions:
- Does D&DBeyond fix typos even if they're in the original source material the wrong way?
- Where is the best place to report typos or mis-linked content?
I looked at the submit ticket link above and I couldn't find an option that felt appropriate.

Is there any way to unlink your discord from an old DDB account? c:
Iâm guessing you canât sign in to that account?
If you can, then you can unlink it here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
If not, youâll need to contact Customer Support.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Oka thank you! c:
Tbh I don't even remember linking it to a previous account sooo-
No-
I see how I can link but I don't see how I can unlink so I'm guessing its not from there-
I'll open a ticket
If itâs showing the option to link an account, thatâs because there isnât an account currently linked.
I click link discord, then authorise, then it says the discord is already linked somewhere lese
I'm making a homebrew monster, and was wondering how i get to a new line:
BLANKBLANKBLANK
BLANKBLANK
Instead of:
BLANKBLANK
BLANKBLANK
Can anyone help?
Shift+Return usually creates line breaks
Can you head over to #ddb-avrae-commands and try !ddb-debug? That should show the account itâs currently linked to.
Thanks sm c:
Is there an easy way to represent Lair actions on the DDB encounter builder?
how do i make a homebrew weapon a simple weapon?
DDB does not have the ability to make homebrew weapons, except magic items. When making a homebrew magic weapon, you must select a base weapon to make magic, which must be a weapon that already exists. So the way to make a homebrew simple weapon is to select any simple weapon as the base
gotcha, thanks
Hi, what's the best place to read up on DDB updates? The dev update streams stopped after the merger and I don't know where else to go.
Changelog can be found here https://www.dndbeyond.com/changelog
Thanks!
I am new to dnd and have a question to the Race ability score increases.
Im going to be a gnome and therefore would gain +2 to intelligence.
But i will be a forest gnome who also gets +1 to dexterity.
Do these buffs cancel each other or do they add up ? Because they are both called ability score increase i wasnt sure that they can stack.
thx
@graceful horizon You want #dnd-newcomers, this channel is for getting help with the D&D Beyond site, tools, and services
ohh ok thx đ
how do i choose feat details when i add them to the sheet via manage feats? from the dm we get an extra level 1 feat
for example i choose Metamagic Adept but can't find where to choose from the different options
Inside Manage Feats, click on the feat name or the little v to open it. Those options will be inside.
thanks
When I try to make a homebrew race using Air Genasi as a base it kicks back a server error and says to contact support. EDIT: happens for Earth Genasi, too. Will keep trying other races as a base for homebrew to see what else is broken. EDIT: all genasis are broken but eladrin from the same book works as a template.
where is my Dragonlance order and why is there NO information given to me
We can't help with that I'm afraid; this is the D&D Beyond help channel and physical Dragonlance products are handled through dndstore.wizards.com
You will need to contact their customer support
emailed them yesterday and got nothing
An actual email, or a support request?
https://dnd-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/8493187821588
been there done that. they are really giving you guys a bad name
I understand it's frustrating, but this is not something we can help you with. This involves an entirely different section of Wizards of the Coast
This is the D&D Beyond support channel for getting help with matters relating to the D&D Beyond site, tools, and services
https://dndstore.wizards.com is a separate side handled by a separate team
I am sorry we can't provide any more assistance
thank you for being the only people in any of these companies to at least talk to me.
they removed both of my request from there website
We don't have access to, or control over, their support ticket system
well this was pointless thanks anyways
on dnd beyond is it possible to remove common as a known language?
Only with races released before Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
Using the origin customisation, you can change all languages associated with a race
thats inconvient xD
It's how the rules are set up. I suggest that if you want a race without common, you can make a homebrew copy and change the language options
yah it just feels super limiting to changing backstorys
This is ddb help, can't really comment on the rules themselves
You can always add language on a character sheet for free, so in the worst case scenario, you can add the language you wanted instead, and just ignore the fact that Common is on your sheet. Its not like it actually effects the mechanics or dice rolls
yah ik that much, ive been messing around with it, but i wanted to clean up the sheet.
Is there a snippet code for spell save dc? Not just {{savedc:str}}, I see there is a spell attack bonus {{spellattack}} but couldn't find the equivalent of {{spellsavedc}}
Spell save is 8 + prof + spellcasting ability and because snippets can do math, you can build it like that
In the encounter builder, when calculating XP, is the "Adjusted XP", what each player gets individually, or do we divide that XP between the players?
That's more of a game question than a D&D Beyond question. You should ask in #dnd-discussion
is there a way to create a one d&d character on DnDbeyond yet? In a play test online soon and want to use dndbeyond for character/rollimg
Adjusted XP is just the sum of the creature's CR xp amounts, factoring in the multiplier for the number of creatures. It is not divided between players yet
Ok cool that's what I've been doing, dividing after.
Cuz it changes when you add or subtract players
D&D Beyond doesn't support homebrew content, including One D&D, within the tools
unplanned maintenance?
We've alerted the staff in charge of this.
thank you.
I start my online game at 21:30 GMT, exactly the time I noticed this is happening, me in England and my players in Canada and the Netherlands all get the same error
They've waited 2 WEEKS ON A CLIFFHANGER
AAAAHHHHHHH
The staff are aware of it.
This is unfortunate, the party's pig is sad
Please keep this channel open for those seeking assistance with other issues.
Is character server down again?
hey could someone help me with the homebrew tool i dont understand how to give my weapons a damage stat
The team are working on it, when we have more info to provide (which hopefully is the "everything returned to normal thumbs up"), we will shout it here.
Back maybe
Indeed, the site is once again up from my perspective here in Houston TX at least for browsing content and looking at character sheets.
is back 4 me
Okay, getting messages that we should be good - the team are still looking into the issue, but services look to have returned to normal. Thanks for the reports so we could get the team alerted.
@fervent viper Can you provide a screenshot of the player picture you're referring to?
Never mind, I see you were referring to roll20
Is their anyway to log into a dnd beyond account through discord?
Okay i need some help. Created a character for the upcoming Campaign but my Character Portrait isnt shown. Every other Character works and when i join with other characters, their pictures are also shown. But in this case this one now
not
No. Connecting your DDB and Discord accounts is primarily for using Avrae. It does not allow you to log in.
https://avrae.io/
Can you share a link to that character?
Okay created a few other character and joined a friends campaign for Text Purposes. Whatever picture i take (No matter if its an own or even a Picture from DnDBeyond) they are not shown in the Campaign Tab.
It's just a problem on the campaign tab, though?
I currently see one on the sheet itself from my end.
Its only the Campaign Tab
Then I'm betting it got a bad cache somehow, but the good news is that means it should fix itself if you simply wait for a bit.
I ask since the DM and the other players cant see the picture too^^
Yeah, a bad cache on the server side would do that.
I know it's probably out there, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to change the Lunar Phase after a long rest (or even without it - I selected Full Moon and can't seem to select either of the other phases now thereafter). Anyone able to direct me to what I am missing? đ
I believe you change it from within the character editor
Yeah. Digging around in there, and can see the spells granted, check mark, etc. And when you take a Long Rest, it even indicates it resets Lunar Phase, but don't see where I can choose amongst the 3. Hrm.
Can you link me to your character?
It'll probably be obvious and I'll feel like an idiot, but for now.. I am clueless đ
Yeah, you have to go to Manage (next to character name), then Manage Character and Level
on the class page, expand Lunar Embodiment and change the phase there
I'm afraid that's the best way the system can currently support the feature
Hey, it works.. just needed to see where it was at. Thanks!
can someone help me out? I don't have the alchemy jug as an available infusion for some reason
am I missing something that lets me select it?
Youâd need to own that item from the DMG.
Or have it shared with you in the campaign that characterâs assigned to.
does the bag of holding come from a book other than the dmg? I do not own the magic items in the dmg but I can choose bag of holding as a magic item infusion
Bag of Holding is in the free Basic Rules
ah ok that explains that
hello can someone help me with the homebrew tool i have some problems with the damage it shows
Is there a quick way to add an NPC with character classes to a campaign, short of creating an unassigned character? The next phase of the campaign I'm running will have several villain NPCs with character classes. Thanks.
You would have to either
a) Make a full character sheet
b) Homebrew a monster with PC class abilities
D&DBeyond app question:
Ok, I have the PHB and other books shared with me for one character.
But Iâm trying to build another character.
So, not everything is available, but this also means I canât get these books because, according to the App, I already have them.
How do I enable them and/or get the book?
Also, normally the grappler feat is the only feat available but sometimes, even that isnât available.
Why is that?
If you purchase those books on the website, theyâll also be available for you in the app. (Iâm not sure if thereâs a way to buy it directly in the app.)
And the Grappler feat requires a character with at least 13 STR.
The app does have the option to buy books not currently shared.
I meant for the ones that are shared. I donât know whether the app has a way to purchase those.
But you can definitely buy it on the website, for use in the app.
Alright. Guess Iâll have to check when I get home
I can't figure out how to add the choosing size (medium or small) to a homebrew race. If I make a copy of Harengon it's there, any other race I can't add the option because it doesn't show under modifiers
I can't seem to use any race with innate spellcasting from MotM as a base in homebrew. They all kick back a server error.
So is there a way to change pricing to other currencies other than USD? I have on more than one occasion forgot it is USD and purchased something thinking it is $30 and has ended up being $50
Not built in, but there's probably a browser extension that can do it automatically.
I believe the mobile app displays prices in local currency.
Quick question, does or will DDB ever support transferring physical to digital books?
It does not support that. There have been no plans stated about doing so in the future.
Thanks!
Hey, is there a reason my friend's artificer has so many known spells that aren't prepared?
If you're referring to the pdf export; it exports all spells available to prepare at your given level so you can mark off the prepared ones
What browsers does the ddb webpage support?
I would assume any that are current and support web standards that don't interfere with the functionality of the website. I know that Chrome and Firefox both work.
When I try to login with google sign in on firefox after selecting the appropriate google account the sign in window closes and nothing happens. Chrome works fine for me.
Make sure you don't have any addons interfering and that you aren't blocking third party cookies.
I am curious as to if there was a quick way to make a created character into an NPC so that they will show up as a monster?
There is not, PCs and NPCs are made using completely different rules and Wizards of the Coast has not published any 'quick conversion' rules
Thanks.
how does RItual caster feat work on DNDbeyond
You pick the rituals from within the feat and they get added to your spell list with a note saying ritual only
do i need the to have the rit prepared to cast or ?
You can add more spells by going Features & Traits >> Feats >> Manage Feats >> Ritual Caster and selecting more spells from the drop down
because for example i have skywrite and skywriet (rit)
The feats describes how it works rules-wise
i reread it im not seeing it.
That would be a question for #dnd-rules
I don't have the feat up in front of me right now
Does thrown weapon fighting style not sync with soulknife thrown weapons on DDB Iâve not got the fighting style to test someone was asking in rules
I don't believe it does because the soulknife thrown weapons aren't actually set up as weapons, but as actions (attacks)
Thought it would be something like that but the +2 damage should apply
It should, but because it's not a weapon, the system doesn't recognise it to add the bonus
How do I add wild companion from tashas to a players character sheet on ddb?
right now, they arent really supported fully. Best you can do is create a homebrew statblock, add it to your extras section and update the statblock every level
You can click on those attacks, then open the Customize section in the sidebar to manually add that bonus.
is it possible to add an already made encounter to a campaign?
Yeah, just edit the encounter, hit Manage Characters at the top, then select the campaign.
What am I doing wrong with this list of spells on a monster sheet?
[spell]Cure Wounds[/spell], [spell]Bless[/spell], [spell]Guiding Bolt[/spell].
It's displaying as: Cure Wounds, [Tooltip Not Found].
how does Insperation work on the app I was told I have insperation so I clicked this button now what?
When you use it you click on it again. That icon's just there to remind you that you have it.
how do I use it
The rules for it can be found at https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/personality-and-background#Inspiration
Questions like that are considered soliciting and arenât permitted here.
Does DND beyond automatically generated companion stats
ah
I got a falcon and idk if it's stats are right
well another thing I need to ask, does anyone know how to make a homebrew subclass on something like a fighter into a spellcaster?
I've tried every option and its not working
Looks right to me, assuming youâre a level 5 ranger.
What part isnât working?
I'm making a homebrew class for a martial and its not letting me use spell slots at all
My proficiency is +3 so shouldn't the AC be 16
And health i don't understand
âNot letting youâ how?
An eagle has 12 AC normally. 12 + 3 = 15.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/16852-eagle
And it normally has 3 HP, but as a ranger companion would get four times your ranger level.
Assuming still that your level is 5, then 4 * 5 = 20.
But I have a falcon
So how do I change it
Falcon wasn't a choice
There is no Falcon monster. You will have to ask your DM what stats they want you to use.
It's in the phb
Found the hawk one
So there we go
Weirdly eagle isn't in the PHB
I thought the Eagle and Hawk and falcon would all be the same
It says in your screenshot here âSmall beast (Eagle), unaligned.
I picked the wrong one the DM said I found an falcon
What youâve got in that screenshot is an eagle, and the calculations for that are correct.
I tried to rename it to falcon since I couldn't find falcon and eagle was the first bird of prey I saw
It weird why I need to goto the website to add or edit my companion I can't seem to do it on the app
The appâs a lot newer than the website, so itâs still under contruction. They only added the ability to even view your Extras there just a couple months ago.
How many campaigns can I have? On Master sub, I mean.
5
Oh. Does this include campaigns I join?
Custom Background Proficiencies isn't working again. I've already did the basic troubleshooting for it, which include: logging out and logging back in, waiting for a few minutes for the changes to reflect, and reselecting the proficiencies. Nothing has worked. Any idea how to fix / remedy this?
if you turn campaign sharing on in those campaigns, yes
Wait, no, I mean other people's campaigns. Or do you mean if those campaigns that I have joined have the content sharing on, that counts towards the 5?
You can be in any number of campaigns, but you can only use your master tier subscription to activate content sharing in up to 5
You do not need to be the DM/owner of a campaign to activate content sharing
Oh, so if I am in a campaign in which the content share was enabled by someone else, that counts?
Or does the sharing have to be turned on by my account specifically?
No, only campaigns where you have enabled content sharing count against your subscription
Ahhhhh I see. Good to know. I reckon more slots have to be paid for?
They would require a subscription on a separate account, yes
Oof...is there at least consideration to increase that number?
it used to be 3, it was increased to 5 for the pandemic and never reduced. I doubt it's going to increase again ever
I see...Alright. That's at least something that is neat to hear.
On another note, is it possible for me as DM to enable homebrew on a player's sheet, then delist the homebrew on my collection? I'm trying to make gift feats ala Blessings from the DMG. Would the feat stay?
it should.
in DDB is there a way to make a magic item that does this: when you have this item equipped, you add your (highest of INT/WIS/CHA) to your armour class
There isn't I'm afraid
You could make 3 separate items.
Has anyone found an elegant way to give sidekicks a character sheet on ddb yet? Ive got a pair of players with a pair of sidekicks, and manually tracking the sidekicks abilities and levelups on paper is getting annoying. But i also dont want to just make them like player characters. I use the Tasha's Cauldron sidekick rules.
You can use the monster homebrew feature to make them statblocks. That's how I manage my party's sidekick
anyone ever get this error 'There was a problem joining the campaign with that character.'
I have this on DDB as a HB item, if I have 20 DEX it should be 13+5=18 AC right?
In regards to the whole home brewing stuff, What happens when path of the giant becomes an official subclass? Will people who made a homebrew to playtest it and published it have it retroactively unpublished or since it's the playtest version will it not be a problem to exist alongside the official version which is most likely going to be different?
