Armoured Emu's
"You are accused of a crime, put on a ship and sent off to a new land to colonize it"
Rogue Cassowary's
the dreaded bunyip
Drop bears.
Uh.. everything upside-down
Every night gravity reverses, so the characters have to tie themselves down
In 5e?
Yes
They basically took the 2014 Lich stats, gave it Githyanki Psionics, a bonus action double Silver Greatsword attack, and Wish
Which is a nasty combo with her paralyzing touch
So the context is that Dragon Magazine made stat blocks for Vlaakith, Zaknefein Do’Urdon, Lae’rel Silverhand, and Jarlaxle.
They got put on the WOTC website as PDFs later on, and two of them got added to modules
Vlaakith and Zaknefein being just website PDFs back when Dungeons & Dragons . Com used to be a thing.
Before WOTC bought DnD beyond and replaced that site
Kinda like the Vecna stat block situation
Yeah I just found the PDF. Definitely due for an update and she's CR 23 after all
Yeah Cr23 is fitting for her
She isn’t Vecna level but definitely above a regular Lich
My first guess was CR 24
Eh she doesn’t have that much more
There are dudes with way lower CRs that have Wish after all
Although Vecna's statblock isn't all that great tbh...
And if she uses it then it’s a massive debuff
Nah Vecna’s stats is fine when run properly
I’ve killed 2 level 20 parties with it
Seriously? Looking at it seems incredibly underwhelming
He gots good spells. Especially animate dead as an action.
Basically let’s him farm his own zombies for health if it gets bad
Plus he has the reaction and bonus action teleport to get out quick.
The real cheese is Multiattack, cast fly, the teleport out and go up 90ft
Or if I’m feeling the extra need to get out replace fly with Dimension Door
Bro has a lot of “and then I leave” abilities
He kinda works like Strahd and Zariel where their biggest strength is their ability to fight like a Skirmisher
I mean Zariel isn't a caster and her stats are a lot more I beat you to death myself capable
Zariel is very much both a caster and bruiser
Woops didn't see the spellcasting on her statblock
are there any adventures, about taking down xanathar
Not sure if you take him down but he is an antagonist within waterdeep dragon heist I believe
Well she's an archdevil so makes sense
Well it’s the fact that it’s a wisdom save and the flavour text only says “she commands you to burn” to me implies that creatures can already just set themselves on fire, but Zariel just forces them to do that
That’s what makes me love it
If it were a con save, I’d just pass it by, just “oh she’s setting you on fire”
Everyone has the ability within themselves to set themselves on fire
Sounds like it. And I love it
Spontaneous combustion is a canonical ability of every PC
Thank you zariel very cool
I think, therefore, I am..... on fire
Need opinions for something I’m thinking of doing! Item cards, they have stats of the gear/what it does and a lore snippet of info about the game world similar to dark souls item descriptions
I did magic item cards, very fun for in person
The 2024 starter set also has cards
It does???
That’s awesome, and glad to hear it’s something that has been done to some success, I love having hand outs and such like notes and stuff so this is something I’m really hyped to experiment with
A quick image search will get you plenty of ideas for layouts. I recommend considering readability as a priority. Art is fun, but we need to know what they do.
For in-person games, physical handouts like that can be really cool. I think it would be especially rewarding for magic items.
Layout wise I intended to lay them out like pokemon cards, but instead of a normal backing it has lore information, so the front has an image and what it actively does
My players do indeed love the magic item cards
Good to know it goes over well, I’m prepping a few other things like notes they can find around the game world and such too as handouts along with making potions into actual drinks
First time I’ve hosted in person so wanna make sure it goes well
I want to make a physical map with terrain and such but idk if I’ll have time to actually complete that
Does anyone have ever print an item cards before? If yes do u make the digital illustration manually or using some kind of website generator
I used google slides
It was a pain to align/size it all properly, but allowed for quite a bit of customization
Template - GIMP - item art from various sources.
greetings. how is everyone tonight?
Thinking about how the hell I'm gonna get some kinda reference for my character without using ai or making it myself (I have little artistic ability)
pinterest is a goldmine
I love heroforge
Youre a bit limited in your options but its very beginners friendly in making fantasy characters
You could just do character creation on baldur's gate and screenshot it?
Picrew is a life saver
My favourite steam game, the 60 euro character creator
Picrew is super cool, I love how unique some of the generators are
Like holy hell use picrew it’s amazing, sometimes the choices can be quite limited but there are hundreds of other character makers on there, all powered by real artists
😄 it's dual purpose so it's kind of like recycling.
hero forge
Well, the thing is
The character is a plasmoid flavored as an awakened gray ooze
Alternatively, the Black Desert character creator
then put 3 angles of screen shots into chat gpt for a rendered picture of the character YOU designed
comes out very nice and that way its not AI generating a random image but the same thing you made in a better resolution with some great looking rendering
Fair enough dont believe plasmoid is doable on heroforge. People suggested picrew though worth a shot
I've literally just searched "plasmoid gray ooze" on pinterest and it's come up with some good stuff, a real range between formless and humanoid-ish
Hm, might have a look on pintrest
Not a bad idea.
It's a pretty good character creator.
Would be funny in a token lineup as well
The anime token
The fantasy stock image token
The probably AI token
And the photorealistic looking korean woman with enough game filter that you know it's not a real one.
Hi
Hello!
Im sorry i fed the dragon
So I look up dnd plasmoid wizard on pinterest and
I'm pretty sure half these pictures are ai
Don't feed the dragon or you can't get rid of him
I believe Pinterest might have a setting not to see AI generated content
Where's that at
It does. It doesn’t catch all of them, but it filters out a majority
Or DuckDuckGo, or images before (say) 2017.
Go into settings and click on “refine recommendations”
Then find “genAI interest” and flick all of them off
I don't have an account, and I don't know if I feel like making one just to get a good reference for a character
Or just search for goo girls, but at your own risk.
Get a face, make a mood board for the rest.
I would if my goo was female
But they are nonbinary
What 👀
Oh no! How can you tell?
What
How can an observer discern that they are nonbinary?
I'm not quite sure how one would tell a plasmoid's gender anyway
Does it matter
Serious question, I'm unfamiliar with common gender signifiers of plasmoids.
Do plasmoids even have a gender?
I guess it comes down to what they choose to present as
It mattered to you when you said a goo girl wouldn't work.
So I simply have them present as nonbinary, they have no preference towards either male or female
They are neutral to the concept of gender
Anyway. Find a face, make a moodboard for their kit, that'll do you.
might I suggest taking inspiration from Changelings?
What do you think about a shadar Kai warlock who was a loyal knight to the raven queen?
Should I make the raven queen their patron? Or should I pick the hex blade because of the knight thing?
Cuz I rlly like both of those options and I don’t wanna start flipping coins
So according to the official entry on plasmoids they do not have any organs, thereby I believe it's safe to assume they don't have a gender in the first place.
you know you can be a hexblade and still have the raven queen as your patron, right?
Flavor is Free
Yeah, just make it so like the raven queen gave them a blade or something when they knighted him
Oh yeah I was gonna go with that but I was scared of the rules
Didn’t think about the knighting part tho
Yum Flavor
gotta have a more active imagination
Ok thx
But also yeah, consult your DM
What a great conversation starter
I just imagine the sword was a job benefit
You don't have to if someone doesn't explicitly put "Do not ping" in their name
Oh that make sense thx a lot
okay themberchaud
It's still good ping etiquette
My poor eyesight can't see when someone doesn't ping me
ah
Oh and they like ketchup
it blends in with the background
I can't exactly put on glasses while wearing headphones
You can change discords appearance in the settings
I'm not changing to light mode
Tbh I prefer people ping me because else I completely forget about the conversation
That's fair, but it could be nice to consider other people
I just leave it on because no one talks to me and I get lonely
yup, it would be, and I turn it off if they explicitly have it in their name
Or if they tell me to
what somebody said
Session 1 done ‼️‼️
how'd it go?
My players made a deal with a devil to sell their kids to him
Ah, it's one of those
What an... Interesting choice
let me guess... all new players?
Yeah they're monsters
Relatively
Heyy
Do they already have these kids, or is it like “your first born child” thing
First born child thing
Was it like... Pressured, out of necessity or just they saw their first chance for power?
You may think you have little artistic ability, but try drawing your character anyway! I believe in you!
Maybe the character didn't plan to have kids.
I feel like you generally don't try and trick devils like that
My theory is that the players, being new, have watched many D&D shorts made up by content farms who have not played D&D before.
That could go bad places.
Sometimes stupid ideas don't stop DnD players.
“Sometimes”?
I mean it’s okay to let them be a lil stupid, as long as there are reasonable consequences
Indeed
Hey, not all of us act on nonsensical ideas. Even if it's hard to believe. XD
the problem is I don't think they're expecting consequences
It is hard to believe.
All you can do is explicitly warn them. If they persist either it’s a hard no or they’ll deal with it eventually ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Well they'll have to learn I suppose
the problem is, with these new players usually they're with new DMs, which, often, don't know how to say no
True true
And ofc you can have players complain you’re punishing them for instituting a reasonable effect to their action
The word no is a DM's greatest ally
At the end of the day a D&D player’s greatest is enemy is themself
Nah, it's a beholder.
Fair enough😂
A beholder of all things?
I don't think I've ever managed to run a campaign without a beholder. Totally necessary monster
Without any beholderkin I should say
Here I thought a dragon would be the greatest enemy in the dragon game....
Common mistake.
Oh, dragons as well, sure. Why not both?
There's a beholder dragon somewhere in Fizbans, get both for half the money!
When you play Dungeons n' Dragons and never enter any dungeons or see any dragons: Taverns and Tarrasques. Markets and Manticores. Bookstores and Beholders.
Tunnels & Trolls?
A beholder dragon...
Olive Gardens and Owlbears
It's called Eyedrake
Not quite sure what that design would be
Mazes and Monsters.
Gardens and Goblins
Calling that thing a beholder dragon is certainly a choice
I mean, it's clearly what they thought they were making. Has rays and a breath weapon
Basilisks and Bungalos, if you would.
so, what would you guys say is the opposite to psionics? full blown material might or something else,
Magic. literally
it's the only other supernatural power and it was famously used by the Gith to rebel and break out of Mind Flayer enslavement. Also mind flayers that dable in magic unintentionally interfere with the psionics of the Elder Brain keeping them under mind control
physical might isn't really a 'power' thats just...physical strength. it's often refered to as opposite magic for martial/magic arguments but as a power type goes, magic and psionics are opposite in the way they exist
Psionic power is kinda' like a Monk's chi/ki. A power from within that affects reality. Magic is an external power accessed through the Weave.
Monk ki is actually just magic, both mechanically and narratively. it's just accessed differently
Sorcerer magic is also 'within' but its still magic
Ki is a weird combo of alot of things lol
I don't really see magic and psionics as "opposites" so much as "parallels that mess with one another"
Like 1 radio signal interfering with another
I was under the impression that Ki had nothing to do with the Weave, lore wise
I thought so too
that depends on what you're meaning by 'opposites' here. you can call magic opposite itself when you refer to Arcane vs Divine for example
Psionics (in the context of dnd) has been many things over the years
But majority wise it has been magic of some sort most often
And Psionics, at least in one setting, stemmed from Far Realm corruption nonsense leaking into reality, before a couple gods plugged that hole.
Same here. I just saw it as a poor mimicry of chi in a lot of eastern myth and movies. Or at least the how the west sees chi and has it in their films
Obviously, if your DM is running a custom world for your campaign, then a lot goes out the window. The DM decides the magic system of the world and if magic had an "opposite."
is it normal to turn down a campaign even if you were so looking forward to your first campaign as a new player?
(It has also been:
- its own non magical thing
- a subcategory of magic
- fully just magic on par with all the rest)
Psionics is kinda complicated cause it's went through multiple editions and from what I know basically never stayed the same
Correct it has changed many times
Of course, in these situations, it always depends on the group. It's all "Thermian" arguments in the end.
But what I can offer is that if you separate out magic (arcane and divine) from psionics as being a different source, you can set yourself for an interesting story: where arcane/divine magic are "old" and "traditional" and psionics are "new" and "alien". This is a perfect setup for a xianxia type of story, which carries a bunch of drama with it naturally. ✌️
Yes. If it’s not gonna be a good fit or has a lot of red flags, it’s fine to not join the first table you’re offered
So divine magic isnt like involved with the weave
Think of finding a dnd game like dating. Don’t date the first person who shows interest in you
so really Psionics has kinda been everything with magic, apart of it, beside it as its own thing, and then a different side of the coin
so no clear opposite, really lol
(The real secret sauce is the main reason people think of psionics as separate from magic is because psionics was the term people used when they wanted magic to exist in sci fi without using the term magic)
No DnD is better than DnD with that player.
is not about red flags. Is more of a...financial reason
Was it a paid game?
Don't bankrupt yourself for a game
Oh let me guess, they advertised it as free and when you joined they asked you to commission an artist?
Yeah, you can find free games online and likely in person
If you can't afford a paid game there are plenty of amazing free games out there
Classic scam, don’t fall for it
I got that too :/
I've been listening to organ music for an upcoming boss fight in like 3 sessions, my ears have been blessed
Wow. Scams? Crazy.
character creation art commission
Knew it. Classic scam, big red flag
oh yeah that's a scam
Good you turned it down
There is no reason for them to need to draw a picture of your character
don't do it
hmmmmm, i can work with the old/new thing on it, but since i asked for abit of reassurence if anything, i might weave it for my needs lol ( making BBEGs that mirror the players)
I think commissioning campaign art is so awesome and you should only do it once you've played 10+ sessions with that group
my group only just started having the commissioning art conversation recently after 36 sessions together
If they are on this server, you can ask to start a thread in #moderator-support then you can report them privately. Mods can take a look at their history or keep an eye on them and if they violate server rules, they could get banned. ✌️
I once commissioned art. Of my own free will. I even paid for art of other people's characters. If someone told me I had to do that to even join...no siiiiir.
Nice that you’ve been together so long
The artist at my table does campaign art for free and I keep begging her to stop and let me pay her
when i beg for an artist to take my money and stop drawing for free
That's like my group. I keep drawing pictures of our characters and my group keeps begging me to stop - because they're awful.
I still want to get into dnd. With or without art but is depending about timezones and seeing ppl can take my bs
timezones, the true BBEG
I feel bad for letting them do such good art for free
asia represent...wow
Remind me to interview you if I ever start a new online campaign
I commissioned an artist and they only charged me 50 bucks. After they gave me the finished piece I tipped them another 50 and told them never to accept less than 3 digit payments again. They were seriously underselling themself
Yeah as someone with a similar timezone... I feel the pain. It takes time, there's great games out there
oh god interviews they're everywhere 😱
hello from sg ;-;
If only i could post images I would have jumpscared ya with a job application
But yeah I interview potential players at my tables.
Gotta make sure an optimiser doesn’t slip in… /hj
I need to get a job...money and experience
that would be cool tho
It's nothing that intense, but sometimes DMs get more applications than we have spots (my four-player campaign accumulated something like 50 applications), so I interview people to see who the best fit for the campaign would be.
Some people do voice interviews, some just chat in DMs for a bit, some give questionaires, stuff like that
That's one reason why I wanted to try dnd but with a prob scuff mic it might end badly
Hey I played for years with a scuffed mic
D&D Question of the Day (D&D Beyond: Playing the Game):
A spell says, “Dex save for half.” Your party has resistance to that damage type. On a success, you take…
A) Full
B) Half
C) Quarter
I've played with folks who have scuffed mics
C!
(unless you have evasion in which case it's D: None)
C
not sure what Dex save for half but it sounds like common sense
I were to assume is dexerity?
it's not meant to be hard
damage
Essentially it just means the creatures affected by the spell make a dexterity saving throw, and then on a success, they only take half the damage of the spell
ohh I see now
None I have evasion
None. I'm not there. I'm at the bar. Getting drunk. With my +9 Ogre slaying knife.
alcohol funny. Drinking is never good
Well played.
I wonder if any of the new people even understand that reference.
what is an Artificer and what do they even do? Are they any good?
Artificers enchant items and contructs with magic.
you can make temporary weapons, armor, minions, spellcasting boosters, gadgets etc
oh. they sound fun
depending on your subclass, your gameplay changes a lot.
an Alchemist makes elixiers that boost yourself and your party, a battle smith plays bit like a mix between a beastmaster ranger and a paladin, an armor can sneak or tank
Artillerist makes magical firearms that are good at blasting enemies or buffing your allies
so they can be an all-rounder?
sort of, artificers are mainly support with a different secondary focus based on your specialisation
ah I see
"Where's the Mountain Dew?"
Mountain Dew sounds like some sort of elemental boss you encounter on the slopes of Kelvin's Cairn
Yeah I'd say they're honestly the class with the least direction built in
Which makes some sense considering they keep getting released later
artificer subclasses really decide the way a character plays
I'm back home guys, what a game that was.
They made a pact with a DEVIL in exchange for help killing SNAILS
SNAILS
flail snails?
Why would anyone want to kill snails🥺
They're evil snails
Is this the same pact you mentioned before or do they just keep making more pacts?
But like they are NOT devil level
Same one
Actually they did make two
But it merged into one
I think your players may be stupid
Sounds a bit chaotic, but if you're having fun that doesn't matter
I don't think I'll ever have a serious epic game with them, but that's ok
A new lesson learned is that, D&D is not the go-to for a specific epic story
Read The Quest for “Blank Claveringi”
So for this new campaign I just winged it
Well, depends on the players.
I'm learning
I mean like if the story is designed to be an rpg then yeah
But if you have the full story in mind, I don't think so
Oh, if you have a full plot without PC agency, that's a book rather than a collaborative game, sure.
But an epic story can definitely emerge through play if everyone is on board with that sort of theme.
Yeah def
I rlly did plan out all of thr Phoebe Cinematic Universe at first
That was my first mistake
Ah gotcha. A lot of new DMs fall into that trap. The Don't Prep Plots article from the Alexandrian is brought up a lot as a consequence.
looking at character sheets feels like getting jumpscared by a job application
Other people's? Yeah, I get that.
No. Just a general blank one. I've never seen others
Yeah it can look like a lot, but it’s actually pretty easy
You can use DNDBeyond to walk you through it
Also for the ones who struggle with math, D&D beyond
Ah! It can look like a lot. Search up dnd character sheet explained, there are guides.
if I could know what I'm doing or if my brain's factory can come up with one
You have an endless stream of information at the tips of your fingers
If you need some direction, JoCat has a video about how to fill one out. Keep in mind, it's a little intense with NSFW language because he's using his over the top JoCrap persona. Funny, but actually useful.
Idk if NSFW is the right word, just, don't take his jokes personally is all
Forget the sheet, start with the bits you need. Class, species, background. Take it step by step. There are only so many choices to make.
yup just clicked into a jocat vid and instantly getting pelted with words
make sure to rewind when you feel lost
roger that 👍
JoCat's much more friendly than his JoCrap persona.
Hmmm.... If I ever have aracokra NPCs I'm gonna have a running gag that they can't see windows like at all. Unless it's stained glass.
Yall what is the ring of 3 wishes spell save DC?
Accoding to SAC, your usual spell save DC
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/sae/sage-advice-compendium#SAC-MagicItems1
Im a monk
If you don't have one, the modifier is +0
So effectively the DC would be 8 + proficiency bonus
well just watched it and uh. Yeah his videos are..something.
Please don't paste things into multiple channels. I see you found #dm-discussion though, which would be the correct place for this.
Also you can’t post AI-generated content here
Yeah frankly, if you can't be bothered to write something yourself, I don't particularly feel why I should.
Yeah I was done when I saw “didn’t feel like writing it myself”
I've asked similar questions in the past, but here's another go! Tell me about an NPC/PC in your game that is Black. 👀
womp womp
I'm not to that part of worldbuilding yet, unfortunately 😔
it would feel disingenious if I mention an NPC and they're just from Curse of Strahd
I wish dnd beyond didnt have a thoudand paywalls i wanna make characters more easy but the only way is to spend a billion dollars
Ulder Ravenguard
It’s not just beyond, it’s having to buy the books for it not to be privacy
And hopefully Wyll Ravenguard if I plan things right
Her name is scarlet, and she was a badass. Blood hunter on a flaming skeleton horse, longsword and twin hand crossbows
She also had -1 wis and was an idiot
You could also (try) and learn the Homebrew tools to build them.
Piracy, Nugget, people need their privacy 😭
You mean D&D should just be free?
Ope
Also yeah, ideally you pay the creators for making the game you are playing
Also there are free rules
Exactly, they are pretty generous considering. Complaining that it’s not ALL free is mind boggling really
In a Phandelver and Below campaign I introduced a self-styled "Future Dragon-Rider" called Gorlois, who met the pcs early on. He was initially meant to bring the party onto one of the plot threads in the module, a young dragon.
However, the party never picked up on this, so:
Gorlois went himself!
Unfortunately, that dragon was cursed with some eldritch magic and Gorlois fell in with the local cultists. In the end, he merged with the dragon to become a dragon himself, fulfilling his oath eventually, in a fashion.
The pcs ultimately faced the cult of the dragon, with Gorlois as the bossfight.
Haven’t named them, but they’re the head of a religious Templar called the Chariots of Caelvaris, a wandering set of knights on an endless pilgrimage to explore the world that the skies look upon.
I've never paid for anything, besides the subscription in D&D Beyond, but I am considering buying the Forge of The Artificer book...
Wait was it the knights of Caelvaris or the Skyward Templar I don’t remember. Actually I think it was the latter, as his group’s alias is “The Faces of Heaven”
Real
Salutations, Mortals 🧐
I greet the soon to not be April Fool!
Not for the Artificer, for the Warforged and Changelings, of course :)
👁 👁
April ends soon.
My birthday is soon!
"Tokii, The One and Only"
do do do de da da da
But my shenanigans never end.
Ooo fun
No I think he just becomes tokii the fool
You are not wings... but happy early birthday
Not wings anymore! I'm testing out the name before I possibly change it irl
Wait you’re wings?
Legally? 😭
-# FOOL OF A TOOK i
Yep :3
Well damn did not know.
Hallo!
No, they're Jackalope.
Well that's a way off but if it sticks
Hiii :3
I'm clearly everyone's beloved fool
Eh, Fool with a capital F. But beloved nonetheless
That might be my new name.
Tokii, The Beloved Fool 🤔
I don't really use my real name so I figured I might as well change it to something I like
Tokii, King of Shenanagins 🤔
I don’t use my real name either, just my nickname
What? this is my legal name /j
I get called all sorts of nicknames and none of them are at all related to my actual name
How do I play
-# Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river~
#dnd-newcomers might help :]
Read up on the first few chapters of the free basic rules on #learn-to-play , and feel free to ask any questions you might have. Then, make a practice character and get it reviewed in #character-discussion .
Once you’re ready and got the fundamentals down, you can check out #find-a-game for information on how to find a group online. To make a post, type the appropriate command in any chat channel. There’s also DnD beyond forums, reddit or roll 20.
"The only way to learn is by playing, the only way to win is by learning and the only way to begin is by beginning", so head over to #dnd-newcomers and read up on some of the rules of D&D
So folks, not next week, but the week after.
My Warlock and his goup confronts Acererak for another Piece of the Rod of Seven Pieces
The Tax evader himself.
We also found
The Book of Vile Darkness in his lair
I've been watching a campaign with a lot of roleplay, I never knew how much in my life I needed two straight sessions of just pure motel roleplay
Role-playing is fun
Revivify
I'm gonna have to roleplay one of my characters findings his entire party dead.
I was absent a session and they died to mindflayers.
So what are yalls fav magic type, arcane, divine or primal
One of my groups is very mechanical with very little roleplaying unfortunately
The other group is a newer one but I see a glimmer of hope they’ll get a little more into that side of it
there's an entire session dedicated to one of the players' backstories, with the other players as the parents and NPCS 🥹
Imo a tpk should be a total party kill and they should offscreen him /silly
Fun.
Gotta show the despair
None, abysmal and psychological horror
*Laugh in incomprehensible ctulhu *
He would've absolutely died fighting with the party, but I was out not feeling well so the party decided my character was taking care of our polar bears while they discovered a place.
Im just gonna keep my divine sword warm in this corner...just in case
We have 4 Polar Bears :]
my principal character have some of it, from a oneshot i had and where i made him.
Some of that party got really beaten up, i got all my limbs attached on me.... just saying that i hope is enough to make understand what happened to the rest...
Dont worry, i dont even understand it
Mine is named Lefko, I use him as a mount in combat and he's scale mailed out
really depends on the mood rn primal and aberrant
We've decided that it's gonna be a few in campaign months and he goes on a drunken bender.
The new party members meet him because they heard rumors of him killing an Adult White dragon completely by himself. Something that makes him lash out because without the friends/previous party he had, he would've died.
So, my sweet farmer boy wanting to become a knight fighter dragonborn fighter fellow..
Is gonna become grizzled and incredibly jaded/depressed
using hero forge for fun feels like they don't have much variety or is just me
There is so much variety and customization and with the kit bashing feature I see a lot of super creative things
I guess is just me then
I love foresight
One of the better 9th level spells for sure
I find it a little funny how with Cleric's new Trickery Domain feature "Blessing of the Trickster" can be permanent.
"As a Magic action, you can choose yourself or a willing creature within 30 feet of yourself to have Advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. This blessing lasts until you finish a Long Rest or you use this feature again."
So, if you give it to someone and then die, that person will have the buff forever.
I have a question
If im a monk and have resistance to a bite do I do deflect attacks before or after its halfed
Ah never mind
sup
Hopefully I can be invited to a campaign without a sudden need to pay money just for a character art commission omds
I could get on the dog and blow to my mate in Whitechapel
I spoke with their boss before I spoke with them thats the corniest part
Yeah those are all scams. A paid campaign needs to be properly advertised with a price per session
I got invited from a random person then they asked me to talk to the dm we talked a little told me about the campaign and creating a character then asked me to pay for the art commission
I wasnt complaining its not all free i was just frustrated that i have to spend 9 hours hopping between a million websites
I wanna be able to play even tho im poor ;-;
Its fun
the free rules are here https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024
thats more than enough to get started
sounds awesome. Why you make it sound like they tried to scam you?
Tokii’s party has access to a way to become a Lich
no its a known scamm, there is no game its just a way to scam money from folks on the promise of a game
yea it sounds like a scam bc it is one
Because it’s a first time for me? And usually I would advise myself to get parental advice since yes, I am not a adult yet
Yum
There's only one character I made that would accept being a lich out of 24
yeah I know that obviously but besides that it wouldnt be fun if GM had a trusted art person to take care of the campaign?
Matching character art is not something I would not be interested in
as an option, super cool. required? that's a scam
yep, i make custom 3d printed miniatures for my players in my games, folks love it
springing suprise bills on people is no good though
That’s the thing. I’m not sure either if this is optional as well. They’re mostly busy
lemme gues, heroforge?
yep, i have been 3d printing custom things from there for years
Say "this is a scam"
They’ll say it’s optional but keep bringing it up or ghost you. It’s a scam, 100%.
Most of the time they don't even play D&D, smh
Sure they did show me proof of the artist’s social and they showed me one picture of their proofed payment but I wasn’t so sure either.
I remember when my phone was hacked by a particular chinese company and they made game character 100% the same as what I did in hero forge. Didnt even get to post it anywhere
payment proofs are fabricated 100% of the time
yeah, no matter what new angles they take nowadays, that's a scam. don't fall for it
if you aren't signing up to a paid campaign, and you're being asked for money so early, it's a scam
get that bread Tokii
technically, if you pay for anything that makes you a loser. Don't pay for anything that you absolutely don't have to.
No. I already owe Moon Knight like $10.83. I got money problems, yo.
And Moon Knight problems.
i mean, you can go live in the woods if you want, but in a society we work and buythings from each other
no, supporting independent artists is always based and awesome :3
Yeah that makes a lot of sense honestly. Once the group has that much history, the characters feel way more earned, so the art hits different. If you guys do end up going for it, I actually know a few artists who are really good with campaign/group pieces.
if you put cat pfp on I may throw a coin
My pfp is a tabaxi
I've already won in this situation
did you knew how they "independent" artists gain copyright agreements?
they think asking some alt in DM if they can make art for you is sufficient
then give you some ai gen slop
Anyone got alternative names for hamburgers as they where sold in hamburg, but in my fantasy setting they where sold in dragonburg
Meat Patties.
tabaxi or cat pfp, who do I choose?
that's why you don't respond to people who cold-call you
Sliced protein cylinders
you seek out reputable artists whose style you like, and then commission them
Meaty flip flaps
Also, damm, your pfp..
Dat bord got da drip
I thought it was a man with a very horizontal hairstyle
I'd rather comission myself
Artist, commission thyself
is that a Dr. Who reference
Shakespeare, I thought.
Artist.
Draw your character getting a degree and having a family, NOW!!!!
Hi, I'm a pretty experienced player and I was wanting to run a game for some beginner friends, but I'm a bit unsure about how to handle it. I was thinking of using a pre-made campaign as a starting point. Any suggestions other than the Phandelver Mine?
"Physician, heal thyself."
It’s been in a lot of things. If you’re going to the original I guess it’s a Bible reference but it’s just one of those things people say
Ah yeah, when the doctor was regenerating, he said that before he "died"
I can draw him raising a family
Don’t ask his class and subclass
I'm also open to any advice, please. I really want to give them a good experience, but I'm afraid I won't meet their expectations.
Gonna throw a guess out there that it was after Bones did it in Star Trek 2.
Sorry, i dont know those
Only one of my characters is married
And it's my Bugbear Ranger
His wife is a Wood Elf
They don't have kids.. that he knows of.
go to maps and type in: Montagu
Premade campaign is a good idea as it will save you a ton of work, and will give you a good idea of what works and doesn’t for your table. #dm-discussion is better place to discuss further.
Heroes of the Borderlands is the new hotness. Or there's always the DIY approach.
Oh! Ok, Thanks!!!
ignore this guy, either a troll or a bot
Whut
I feel really stupid, what could that be?
Oh, got it, thanks
Mind of phan is like one of the best mods ever made for 5e..
too little or too much? I can never tell
I'll take a look, thank you very much for the suggestion.
If i the paladin was choosing resilient con to keep bless up vs crusher to peel off attackers on you casters, which one would you prefer?
Resilient is better imo
CON saving throws are important
And once you hit level 6, nothing can break your concentration /hj
-# Aura of protection + likely high con mod + proficiency = concentration machine
whats your fav paladin subclass/es
Vengeance, conquest, devotion.
Yes, I like the edge
I got cut by this answer
I like veng & watchers
Watchers is pretty cool too
Tbh I think I love the new noble genies subclass, the channel divinity options are kinda cool
noble genies? Ill check it out havent seen it
i sent that four hours ago why do i keep getting replies to it
The artists are hungry and need feeding
its not even the artists responding its people commenting on it hours later
Came in with Heroes of Faerun
The bots are hungry
Huh, a lot of people are scrolling up today then
im not bot food!
oh it looks like a fun Sorcadian build
Run, tin man, run! They’ll be after you
whats your fav paladin subclass/es
might run it soon hmm
watchers, devotion, conquest
I've gotten to do some really cool things with all three of those in my campaign
nice
Mechanically I really liked the UA spellguard from a while ago
Are we talking paladin, did someone say paladin omg i love paladin
Nope! You mentioned art 4 hours ago thereby you're officially declared as bot food
John Paladin, in the flesh
My God
whats your fav paladin subclass/es
My god, it's the ultimate paladin
he's 2nd
Now which one of you is number 1
We are about to fight Asmodeus, our plan is to send down 5 tarrasques in the teleportation circle to fight him first... Wish us luck!
hes gonna mind control them and itsll be a 6v4, Im sure of it
Tarrasques are immune to charm 😉
The oath of glory
How the hell did you get 5 tarrasques
DM's find a way 😼
5 scrolls of Tarrasque summoning.
That would be me
5 scrolls of WHAT
You know what, that's fair. Then you would have to fight the tarrasques after they murder him
Three paladins all in one place
Do we have to?
Three musketeers? No three paladins
I mean...if you don't I imagine they would devour the world or something
This will be in the 9th circle of hell where the teleporter sends them.
4 paladins in fact
Or hear me out, 3 dex based paladins with rapiers as weapons
Oh, then they destroy hell. Everyone wins yayyy
By sheer quantity of paladins I have in my setting I think I have a solid claim to own paladins
Just like the movie
I cant say its smth i usually see but now that you say it
I mean it's not the best, but its possible
P(h)aladintastic 4
Soon my plans of only having paladins will come to life
I’m feeding you to the bots
That's a quarter of my campaign setting
have mercy!
I mean knowing the class, that's probably enough to offset any disadvantage they would have
it needs to be a whole
there is an entire major nation that's just oops all paladins it's so dysfunctional i love it
What of instead of dungeons and dragons it was called dungeons and paladins and you can only play divine classes
eh i dont need clerics
Oh come on, their our siblings after all
Haha reflavour every other class to he holy
well the leader of the orders of devotion and redemption were assassinated by the other nations so the other orders are very interested in that possibility rn
Does monks count as divine if they are like monks in a monastery?
Sure ill allow it
holy things are ass, gods lowkey? kinda suck
Cause I got a player whose character is just a very religious monk
You and my setting’s villain The God Defier would get along
Tbf paladins don't need God's. They just need to uphold their path right?
No god needed
my current campaign is a god killer so (who is coming back to life from a diff campaign where you guessed it, also a god killer)
I hope the god defier wins
your PC gets killed by a kobold
Oh hey you guys also have god killers?
The paladins want you for the oath army
its like the plot premise of my universe ya
You would love the entire nation of Taerspyre
the most famous guy in all 3 campaigns is called Karsus the Godslayer
you did well
i won't forget you for as long as i live
oh sick, does he have a crown?
He did, then the BBEG stole it like 1000 years later
Virialis (The God Defier) and Karsus would get along well I think
Or they’d destroy each other. No inbetween
oh im deleting that im not even risking you getting the impulse to click that
I have restraint ok dw
I wouldn't click the thing that says the gods are actually all one guy who's called dave
i know
On the contary Karsus serves a god now, theres a diff char called Machafuko who also has slayed a god and talks down on them, they might get along
Yeah I sent you a psychic link beforehand dw
Virialis go get that Karsus son of a b-
Holy moly is that the regent from hit sequel slay the spire 2
Power scaling is impossible, since we both want our respective people to be on top
But my powerscaling has me behind it
And Virialis has me behind it.
Exactly, because we all know my secret third guy would win
ok what are your characters respective feats
Virialis imprisoned the goddess of death and crippled the god of dragons at the age of 18.
Ill fight you while virialis fights karsus, itsll be a tag team
now see here's the thing
the strongest feat in my setting is
i cant say that my player is here he doesnt know
I feel like you’d win
I won't look go play with your toys
I glaze Virialis because he is my baby boy but myself? I’m a scrawny trans girl in college who can’t do more than three pull ups
So did I but I dont get any powerscaling feats sigh
Became the 2nd strongest god for a bit, slayed Mystral or whatever she was, killed 2 of the dead 3, went evenish with someone who took down the 9 hells, etc etc
Hes been around for 3 campaigns so hes been stacking
Syntho no peaking
||collectively mortals killed a god with no access to magic||
Alr what if you fight karsus and I fight your bbeg
We’ll both be dead
Ya its the 3rd playable character in the hit indie game thats after the first slay the spire two
Use the star blocks against one another in a 1v1
Virialis is CR 30
idk Im kinda nice
Good point, Virialis might spare you
Do I have any CR 30 characters
….. true
I mean the cackling king is probably really high CR but he’s just chilling
plus Im a paladin, can he take 2d8 rad dmg?
Resistant and he has 720 HP :(
So paladins, what do we think of divine favor
Isn’t it not concentration in 5.5e?
It could be better but ive seen worse spells
I swear it is, I remember seeing people hailing it because it’s just almost a free 1d4 bonus damage for 1 whole minute
I assume they meant 2014 but ya it doesnt in 2024
id say then its solid if its precast but even then I wouldnt take it, its a spell slot for 2.5 dmg? eh
and still bonus action cost
Idk, i like to do as much damage as i can so i usually pick it up
is polearm master in 2024?
An extra damage can make all the difference
But you see that’s 2.5 with every single attack for a minute, with no upkeep
Just pop it and it lasts the entire combat pretty much
^
Yes
And it is a simple level 1 spell after all
Oh then ya you would def never take it unless its precast
1d4 rad or a whole other attack
precast I think its solid tho but I dont rlyl do that ngl loll
I use divine favor on my Paladin
But if you cast it, then next turn your BA attack will do 2d4, and the one after that, you’ve doubled the damage your BA attack does
Great Weapon Fighter with a Maul
And not every paladin uses a pole arm
What do you think of it
I mean it's alright, Paladins don't get much spell slots so I wouldn't use it often
well you add your mod to the 1d4 so its 1d4 rad or 1d4+mod + effet you might inflict
Do wish they had a tad few more
It’s just one BA and suddenly all of your BA attacks for the entire combat have their damage dice doubled
I could see it doing smth in a longer fight
Oh you were talking about shorter fights? Then Ofc you wouldn’t use it
well most of the dmg is prob mod dmg (im assuming avg +3)
most fights are like 2-4 rounds tbh
You see it doesn’t matter how much damage alternatives cost, since it stacks with everything
If you would build a cleric/paladin multiclass. How would you do it
no what im saying is your lossing that first attack the 1d4 idk if it really weighs that much
It's generally not a great multiclass.
you have to make up 1d4+3 + effects
Oh i know but i wish to hear anyway as im curious
But if you cant come up with any, how about paladin and warlock
Palock? Wardin?
warlock is decent, norm its just a lvl1 dip tho but ive seen up to 3
But it makes up for that almost immediately as the next one does 2d4+3, and the one after that, making 4d4+6, twice the amount of hit dice and an amount of damage you’d need to use the original BA attack 4 times to match
so around round 4 is when it starts to have an effect
which id say is a pretty long combat (boss encounter)
No, at 2 it has an effect
Literally two BAs with it, equal to the power of 4 without it
no ik but what im saying is 2 rounds +1 round of the nothing its 3
then in round4 it pulls ahead
Im at work so Im not looking at the math to hard so I might be wrong, I like mathing it out lol just cant do it rn
so I might be off
But during a long boss fight, it’ll more than make up for it
I’m not saying the spell is incredible, I’m literally just saying it isn’t bad due to it being a free 1d4 on top of every single attack for 1 whole minute with no upkeep
oh I dont think its bad its def usable and has its point for longer end fights
Damage is Damage 🧐
Because also remember, your two attacks every turn have been doing an extra 1d4 as well
I use paladin spells for utility generally i dont take like any major offense spells
magic weapon is another one i dont take rlly
It gets better with TWF and a Nick weapon
Sacrifice one 1d4 + 3 for 4d4 on top of regular weapon damage later
twf 😔
oo nice idea! TWF Dexadin!
just play a sword and board buddy
Dual Wielder, Shortsword Scimitar, Divine Favor Paladin!
Me but I'm doing a TWF Stradin
Two weapon paladins rock in 2014, smiting three times a turn
stradin?
Shortsword Shortsword, Nick Attack, Dual Wielder attack, all of them having an additional d4 damage
GWM and Polearm paladins in 2014 rock too with it
Wait I might something in the rules might stop that, I might have been bending the rules when I did it a few years ago
Regular Strength paladin lol
Dexadins on top, but experimenting with Great Weapon Fighter Stradin
in 2014 I think you can?
Amen
All week I've been so excited for my next session I've been listening to the battle music I have planned
Yeah
"Gravity" damage would just be force yea?
bc smite is free besides spell sot, and its attack extra attack BA attack
Yeah, unless you mean fall damage which I think is bludgeoning
Alr
bludge or force
I’d say bludgeoning, bc fall damage
if you can explain it somehow, it can work
even if its a bit odd
Classical music for a battle between battlemasters, amazing
just didn't know if graviturgy wizard had its own dmg type
Ah no its moslty force and bludge but if you ask your dm maybe you can try smth
I have a gravity based sorc who can summon a magical meteor that does psychic dmg
Ill just stick to order of scribes and transform fireball into force dmg
So do yall play D&D online
nah
I just be here ngl, I still havent figure out how to play the game
I’ve played since I was 16
I do, mostly 'cause I've not had the money until recently to do real life stuff lol.
Yeah cause irl stuff ain't doable atm.
You ever play D&D neverwinter?
For the most part ye, though hoping this fall to get something going with my college
Nope. Isn't that the MMO game?
Yea
It was something that was always interesting to me, but I never played it.
it has been too long since I've heard the click clackety of dice
I recently got back on after 5-6 years
I played it a little back in the dya
Dude i literally joined here jus to find some people to play with 😂
I thought it was a fun game but too p2w at the time.
I’m only there for the story
And missions
Now that I have money I might try PvP
Well there's some dedicated discords for that mmo you're likely to find people in easier
is there any channels here for looking for communities?
This servers mainly for the tabletop game.
I play it too I just need to find my books
ngl when my returns come in, I might go on the hunt for some of those ravenloft dice
hmm?
I just like the colour schemes they've got going, its about time there were some official dnd evil looking dice lol
You are blessed then
Kinda cheap
Not here to dog on artists but some seriously overprice themselves for very okay art and then spend months in talks with the client only to give a commission that was not at all what was agreed upon.
Sidenote, careful around artists that are heavily into Arcanum
Right? He was doing colored full-length portraits and asking for 50 bucks. I got him to accept 100 plus tip each for the next 2 pieces I commissioned.
What's the @ tho?
I mean it also depends on reputation and time that they've been in the business
And he was very talented. Had never drawn a demon in his life, and he is the one who made my pfp
Though going off of that pfp, that is pretty sick
I get what you’re saying, and yeah, experiences can really vary. Pricing and communication can be tricky on both sides.
There are definitely artists who overcharge or miscommunicate, but there are also many who put a lot of time and effort into their work. It’s always a good idea to check portfolios and past client feedback before committing.
It's been 3 years and she still hasn't even finished the piece smh
Then that is wrong
3 years might be a scam
Yeah
100%
"kiss_shot_acerola_orion" is his Discord user. I'll gladly throw people his way. He is very busy with university these days, though
Sadly she wasn't as known for her lack of morals 3 years ago
It shows unprofessionalism. Commitment is necessary in every task
Amen
I hate when I have a perfectly fine character and then think of a better character and not be able to play them lol
Just don't think!
Speaking of awesome characters, I finally found out who the sixth member of my upcoming campaign's party is. A kobold that looks like a tiny axolotl person, named Dave. He's a Circle of Wicker Druid.
I don't know why this kobold looks like an axolotl, or why his name is just "Dave," but he has voodoo dolls. I'm not questioning him.
i would like to someday do a kobold sorcerer draconic.
The lil boy want to be a big and mighty dragon
i playd a true polymorphed dragon that was polymorphed into a kobold sorcerer, it was fun
Can I make my wizard throw magic hotdogs at this
make an arcana check
at disadvantage
Haiii peopleeee
Bro needs to have a pot on his head
And really like plants
Hello darkness my old friend….
How yall tdy?
Confused
The kitchen wizard
Magic hotdogs (magic missiles)
Fire bolt (used for turn on the stove)
Fireball of spices (fireball)
I think a bot from here added me and told me about a dm and asked if I wanted to join a campaign and gave me the dms discord😭
Spicy meatball (fireball)
Scam, report it
The dm just vouched for her not being a bot
so a warforged asked you that? damn...
Calling my next warforged Grok
My warforged i made is called H4T spelt hat
"Grok, is this real?"
My warforged named gemini who also coincidentally likes building stuff a lot
I had a warforged artificer who had a magic item called grok that would potentially give him advantage or disadvantage on intelligence checks
Hey grok generate a picture of the elf cleric crying with me above them with gigachad face
Let me check one second
Throw a dark star to it
Yeah it is
oh yeah, i think one of the infussions of arti give that
Aura of life or aura of purity
Honestly I’d love it if there were more epic boons directed at spell-casters
i bet we are going to get some in Arcana unleashed
So some guy on YT decided to message me lately trying to continue this stupid Ranger argument again
Would be really nice
Ranger argument?
ettiquet for a youtube argument is to respond that your evidence at the following link and hit them with ||Rickroll||
Short summary: YT algorithm click bait video sometime back with the whole "Ranger sucks, Fighter and Druid do it better" thing
the real answere is to stay away from youtube garbage
For the most part, I do. But it is usually fun to see someone else try to convince me again that I am wrong and fail miserably
Ranger is fine, not my favorite class but they act as a good half caster
Anyways, guy tells me "why not just MC Druid and Fighter?"
I explain why (short answer, better saving throws, most of the same spellcasting, and better HP Averages/ability spread)
The funnier part is that near instantly, he backpedals and tries saying "Can you not take a joke? Just play whoever you like."
by engaging with them they win
Is it just me or is spell recall kinda pointless
I just finished it off (for now) saying the difference between saying you can play any class and trying to convince others a class should not be played because other classes can do everything it does better, which is not the case
And that I would tell him to play any class, but probably best to stay away from bard with that terrible Charisma
Yeah, totally agree, waiting until the group really knows each other's characters makes the art so much more meaningful. 36 sessions is a solid commitment though, love that. What kind of campaign are you guys playing?
Btw, I have a friend who's an artist, she was working on her own campaign art and just finished it. If you want group art, I could put you in touch with her.
Whats the most hp i can have (outside wildshape) and still have access to it. I assume I'd need to main some form of barbarian
Barbarian yeah
Barb tough max con hill dwarf I assume
Oh with spells like aid and heroes feast
Is there a good free DND character name generator
Does 5.5 have a goblin race
I guess races don't even matter anymore
No stat bonus
Fantasy name generator I suppose, though I would advise you to try making a name yourself
Goblin hasn't been reprinted yet
Why's that
Guys. Imagine if there was a ttrpg where you could roll dice and roleplay as different characters and there’d be different classes and species
the most recent printing of the goblin for players in in mordenakinesn monsters of the multiverse, still works great
you arent going to believe what im about to tell you.
Its genius isnt it? I might call it labyrinth and reptiles
It just generally gives you more character because typically generated names are noticeable in a meh way
"Introducing today's sponsor, Pathfinder 2nd edition"
no no
i think it was more like hotels and minotaurs
I feel like most adventures would start in a tavern tho
They haven’t reprinted it because the one in MOTM is still viable and playable
i assume we will get new goblinoids eventually, because theyre fey typed and all
or some could start with all the characters trapped in some place
and about to be executed by some who knows crimes
Goes for a bunch of the more monstrous species
Yeah but the creature type isn’t really enough for what would otherwise just be a reprint imo
Yoooo. We should totally make it and overprice the ever living flumph out of the merch
I do expect there to be some sort of updated MotM within the next few years
I’m sure it’ll eventually get an update, but as of right now, the species in MOTM still hold up. Unless there’s something they can come up with that makes 5.5 goblinoids drastically different from their MOTM counterparts, I don’t think it’s really a priority
also it probably would sell, if it wasnt just completely reprints of old stuff
MotM monsters aren't that much different from '25 anyways
Definitely won't come out at the current stage
Case in point: a lot of the species in the Lorwyn book (which was released post-2024) just tell you to play species that are in MOTM
They still work well enough that they don’t need an update yet
To update the statblock all you have to do really is give them prof/expertise in initiative, max out their hp and remove silver/nonmagic bps resistance.
or we do a basic product that work for itself but we add the goated stuff in "dlcs"
Or, hear me out, we make these things called “editions” where we add new stuff each edition
I think you only change HP on old monsters if they had resistances/immunities that are gone. Otherwise, values havent really changed all that much
yeah, some could be took like Dlcs ngl
Yea…lemme write that down…
Should we also put everything we have planned in 3.5 edition while the rest we make up on a fly?
I just max their hp anyway
okay sure but thats more a personal DM decision and not how the statblocks were officially updated
With how hard 5.5e PCs hit the 30hp on a cr4 ain't enough.
also 5.5 damage is boosted for legendary creatures
no no, we make a 4th edition that rocket up the numbers like some sort of Final fantasy game where the digits go to 10 easily
Yea yea thats good…we need to agree on a name…it has to be catchy
How should I put my stats for fighter more strength or more dexterity
what weapon are you using
if you use dex, you probably dont need much strength, and vice versa if you got heavy armor
depends on your favored weapons
ranged or finesse -> dex.
all other melee weapons -> str
Sword and shield
If you want to use bows and crossbows and weapons that require finesse to use, then do Dex. If you want to use melee weapons of all kinds, do Strength.
that can be a longsword or a rapier, which do you prefer?
As a note: Finesse Weapons can use your Strength still, so you can be a strong person wielding daggers and it'll be fine
sure but dex is better for a lot of other things
Monsters and Mysteries? M&M?
no wait, there is a candy named like M&m
Deathlocks in MotM only have 36 hp at cr4
I think there's a certain chocolatier thatd knock on ur door
It could be something and dragons since dragons are cool
Caster enemies I guess are where I think they need the max out
How much a hp would a level 6 fighter with a average HP have and a constitution of 15?
Cause before '25 caster enemies had like only enough hp to survive one attack
because of all their resistances, remove those and update HP would be the typical move in 5.5
Ye true even with the resistances I think maxing out would still be a good idea if you were playing '14
yeah but they arent like hte principal enemy or thing of the whole book
Oh of course not. They’re gonna be quite strong
I think that was just a normal thing in '14
the HP would be fine if all the players where affected by the resistances, but typically, non of them are. so yeah those HP numbers are build on flawed assumptions
I wonder…what begins with D that could go well with dragons
Caster bosses would need their hp buffed up
Like ||Final boss of LMoP being against level 4 or 5 PCs with only like 50hp||
Diners and Dragons?
No no no…what if it was something players could go through for loot
52 I think
average health would be 55 if my math is right
That's why I don't use average health, I use the maximum roll
Yep you had to do or else they'd get potentially 1 turned
DwarfS?
like lord of the rings
for bosses, I think im doing max roll, but for most enemies I just couldnt be bothered to roll their health nor figure out their max
I got it…DUNGEONS and dragons!
For motm statblocks I just have them at maxed out all the time.
you are a....
Genius!! Everyone will love it!!
no wonder you kill your PCs lol
They will try to adapt anything to it, like futuristic stuff or just modern day stuff on it
Nah they tear apart the maxed out HP motm monsters
Lets work on it right now!
They're just poor innocent helpless 5e monsters
We could also give them the choice of 7 dice despite only 4 being used most of the time
love reworking character backstories
On paper kinda, but in play, 5.5e monsters are out for blood. MotM monsters are kinda like "well ig ill kill."
We can make tons of classes
okey that was the last one, was funny enough
I mean with motm you can a majority of the time just increase their health remove the non magical/silvered stuff and if they have attacks that also give saves, remove the saves
Like me and the Warlock in my Tuesday game 2 turned a Drow Matron Mother.
Yea probably, thanks for joining the bit
And then you basically have a 5.5e monster
I got her to 2/3rds hp left with my turn then he got her below half hp and I scion sneak attacked again and killed her.
it was funny but got tired now of it
If only that matron mother was made 3 years later and could've survived our onslaught
Tho it would've been the expertise in initiative more than the probably 100 extra hp
I think I've only killed one 5.5e PC with 5e statblocks
It was a level 2 Warlock with like 3 or 4 Stirges stuck on him and the party didn't kill them so he got drained dry.
I am just mashing words together to create character names atp
I use fantasy name generator
Like, i've just made a monk named Typhoon Storm
Is it bad etiquette to leave a game after you die
