flavor is free, he could be a light cleric who deals in knowledge of the stars
That is true
Or a warlock and my patron is Gordon ramsey
That is true.
What happens if you undercook something? 🤔
Making the whole thing of "Hell's kitchen" into another level
nothing more celestial than stars. though we could go into lore overdrive if you knew more context
1d6 of force damge, if lethal will be only 1 hp
i mean, that is more than fair honestly
Oh, Ramsay is nice
See a supernova happen in your dreams, see the whole light, matter, colors and darkness go around you and finally take it like a signal
I could make it more meaningful. He was in darkness and chased by something. Supernova, then boom! He goes with light
i might think of using it in some moment of the future
A Hexblade warlock that is a cook
I will be moving to #character-discussion
okey, im chasing you. Dont run.
now my cook bard feels boring
hey that could work too
A happy bard that sing while cooking, making the soup float to the bowls
The bread dance
And the seasoning being magical
I mean, a bard that cooks is just standard isn't it?
without going into alchemy that is
in theory any adventurer can cook
or rather, it was the class that felt more expected
or just buy rations
imagine being able to kill tiamat but dont cook a bread
Move mountains ✅
Season properly the stew ❌
I dunno, bards feel cook-y the most while druids or rangers feel most forage-y
and fighter// barbarian?
Eat a whole animal leg raw like nothing?
Feast a whole rotisserie chicken in the dinner
100% will poison themselves if going to a different climate, if not grown up a Guard in a normal settlement
na, they tough so i doubt
they can stomach things better sure
but I'd not see a Guide (or former Outlander, rip foraging) Fighter compared to a Ranger
for the most bland food, or ordering at an inn, that's when it probably doesn't matter? but Bards would probably invent garlic butter
Barbarian would want something tasty and nice alcohol, its a tough guy that do strength stuff most of the time
Fighter its too open to much kind of things too, so it can be either betting with the bard to see how much alcohol the barbarian can drink
Or be the one competing with him
oh ye sure... actually, who would be best at making alcohol? because drinking it isn't really a skill
Clerics feel like they can make wine the best but ale feels Commoner-y more than any class, doesn't it?
Clerics like irl clerics would make their own drinks
Bards go to bars and places where they perform and get the food//drinks
Warlock is either with lots of money or in a cult that give each other stuff
Paladin can be with the cleric
Ranger and druid wont drink too much because rare to find alcohol in the nature, but could eat some fruits that are fermented for same purpose
Sorc, fighter and rogue wont drink.
sorc for any possible dangerous outcome
Fighter for training purposes or just with some friends
Rogue for being always centered
Warlock feels a bit lacking in cooking skills even with my criticising the Fighter for it. Martials will at least know somewhat how to cut a pig
but rogue might have its own hidden special liquor
so of any class, with a Patron specialized in it, it easily sounds like the most unique take on it
a Sorcerer feels weak in it too honestly, but rip the lack of a Patron story to make it fun and unique
WAIT imagine getting scolded when trying to Contact Other Plane
YOU HAVE ONLY SERVED PROCESSED FOODS! THIS IS NOT EDIBLE!
depend always how you make it work
The most "cook" class i can think right now are
Wizard (learn recipes "spells" and have a Recipe book)
Fighter, the butcher of the place and a great cook with the pan
Bard, barman, fancy and classy but friendly.
finally the cleric, the sommelier, wines.
I feel like Wizards wouldn't have a diet unlike students now and there's no way their living quarters had a seperate kitchen
turning on the stove and cleaning plates feel like a waste for someone who studied a lifetime and not quite enough to have experience cooking
Imagine a living tavern that is a creature and the party are the owners of it
"Helping the towns and slaying the evil bring clients easier than the marketing"
yeah, could be part of the character development
"A clean apron only mean failure for a cook" some sort of wise words or smt
wasn't there a living or mobile fortress spell in D&D 5e 2014?
maybe, idk
I think in 24 there were some stuff around that thing of bastions, towns, etc. etc.
oh ye, Ebberon has mobile Bastions no?
could easily make a restaurant or even a full Cruise-style Inn
ironically, the niche you'd be fulfilling as some luxury and world travel would make it barely overlap with inns
...
what?
sorry i dont get it, half sleep
mobile Bastion
yeah, what about it?
like a cruise basically
it's basically a living inn
apart from having different customers and different services
Its dnd so... you can easily just put a carrion with some horses and it do some sort of Doctor who cabinet magic
yeah, that too
The idea would be like that
And the adventurers would follow the things that their manager say (Missions) or just do funny cook stuff
"I need you all to get me this rare ingredient at top of that dragon lair, good luck"
"kill 400 of this giga lethal bunnies, we are short of their meat"
if I didn't have a week to survive on 8 euro, I'd probably make some DDB VTT Bastion rulings using mobilization rules
"Get me a giant chest of preservation, last one broke"
and do basically what you laid out
know about it, most of the time chicken wings are cheap.
Can boil them for a chicken soup
Eat the meat with some rice or just put some seasonings and throw it to the oven with some potatos (Boiled potato fill really well the belly too)
I'm vegan too and beans should be even cheaper or else I'd rather starve
which I can prove by having done so
okey, that its... problematic
still the boiled potato is there, an option
tho when I was doing really bad, I did live off discounted cakes
Boil, spoon the inside and add salt, mix and into the oven,
true
collect 1000 potatos.
and 2000 sweet potatos.
honestly? we could go full WoW and have them collect 500 boar asses
An enlarged carrot would fill more than a normal carrot?
well per the rules, yes
assuming it does have more weight in usable parts
which I'd assume so
So slowly using a truffle enlarging it and using layers of it so last more is ethical?
Until what point using magic on food is secure?
2lbs is a comfortable day for a worker
ironically, necromancy should be the most ethical
using lifeforce to naturally grow it basically
had an idea of a necromancer that use dead bodies for handwork in construction
would pay the party for the kills and depending how they killed the enemy
that is a different form of necromancy haha
na, too problematic to get the source of "lifeforce"
and people wont like when they ask what i use to nutrish my potatos
technically fertility and growth are necromancy
"Yeah, i used the whole army that attacked the town last week"
"Their souls, body, everything, nothing threw"
conjuration is a second pick for "ethics", both for Goodberry and just what it entails
Goodberry would be like the instant noodles//mashed potatos in the kithcen world
oh and for the army thing, I think you can even reattach the head as a soul is still a whole
fireball victims would however be a bit more useless other than for parts
so.... stakes with their heads where i grow up my crops?
wait I think you misunderstand lifeforce
you can't use another creature's like that
you are using the actual potato's to age them
Why am I colorful
ooohhhh
something about the light and our eyes thing
its c omplex
Huh
wait, Time Ravage teh cheese!!
the Codex colouring is now part of Discord's role colour options
Huh
your Jack of All Trades role lol
In our ways, I like to believe we’re all colourful
Oh
Took you long enough to learn the rock squeezing arts
The indomitable human spirit is ever lasting
Does anyone know whats jims magic missile?
That's a spell from thr acquisition Inc book
Ive nevee heard of that book
It's old and not very popular
Jim Darkmagic is a Forgotten Realms mage that made his own variant of Magic Missile (notably, requires an attack roll instead of jusy automatically working). That spell is from Acquisition's Incorporated.
Can you use DND beyond on your phone?
I use the app on my phone almost daily, some times I just click it out of habit 🤣
The site is responsive and can be used by mobile devices (exception are the homebrew creation tools which have not been designed/updated to be mobile friendly).
There's also the official D&DBeyond mobile app that you can get off of the app stores.
Chat, why is your favorite subclass your favorite?
A part of me like champion, simple and good
Celestial is a change of peace in a class like warlock, giving it healings
Wild magic is funny
Personally hexblade has everything for me, good flavour, sword, magic, patron, eldritch blast...
This feels slightly awkward to ask but in regards to sharing in #dnd-arts-and-crafts is there a limit or rule on what mediums can be used to make characters? I´m not an artist myself and utilise modded versions of an older, infamous dress-up game for character/design creation.
Also my bad if this isn´t where to ask, I´m assuming this is the servers General..
there is not i guess, while you dont use AI or smt like that for building it up
hexblade is okey, make it an hybrid and warlock kinda work out with that
what are people's preference here when it comes to movement/positioning
do you guys prefer a grid
range bands
zones
or do you prefer not tracking it at all
Alright, thanks. I´m personally very anti generative AI and the modded content used is entirely man-made.
there is tools thath elp a lot
AI overall can indeed help but generative AI, as of its current technology and way of creation, simply does not cater to a safe and legal way to aid or be of help in particularly the creative spaces.
Undead Warlock!
no no, ai nope.
Hi hi hi!
ai ew
Oh, my mistake, I thought that was the conversation since you replied to my message that was in the context of ai, and the vagueness of your own message (vague to my understanding.) made it unclear if you were talking about man-made content or generated content. I´ll gladly apologise, even if not needed.
I like nature and animals and anthro cats fr
hi
Hey!
hi
Hows things
Cute pfp
everythings good just spent years playing baldurs gate 3 and im unstoppable
how bout u
im in a 2014 game, and I'm starting to understand the appeal of 2024
stairs
oh no!
sorry mightve left a banana peel on the stair
I been playing this game called dragon breed it’s so fun
... okay lol
i dont think i ever will lol

Your role is getting closer, attack and move away.
Iv'e tried reading things online but i think it would be more helpful if someone told me
Nah you really should read the rules of the game
oh
I know the basic rules
my brother told me to use two great swords
he might be ling tho idk
Your brother is lying
lying
Or misinformed
Fists
Bye
Check out the monk rules, free to read online: https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/2190880-monk
Just remember that there's a difference between what monks are proficient with and "Monk Weapons."
Can a great club be a Monk weapon
Believe so
Probably only with Dedicated Weapon Tasha option
all simple weapons are monk weapons i thought
It’s a simple melee weapon, it can be a monk weapon
I think it's a simple weapon though
dedicated weapon doesnt allow a heavy weapon tho
you are still better with your unnarmed attacks tho
Great club ain’t heavy iirc
there is like, no real reason to use a weapon
they arent? thats goofy
Howdy, folks
meowdy
I mean, daggers for some range is not bad
Oh it isn't heavy is it it's just two handed
Mhm
Was gonna answer this but forgot
I've enjoyed Knowledge, Grave and War Clerics lol
the only one is a better dice but isnt that good
but monk dont get any at all
for throwing maybe
I'm really sorry guys i,ve got tourettes and i lash out sometimes
Cleric is probably my favorite class overall subclass-wise
- Magic weapons
- Because the martial arts include weapons forms and people can find those fun and cool as well
Oh I was thinking of 2014 Monk rules
Which excluded the two handed trait
2014 Monk Weapons couldn't have the two handed property
Please manage your account or you may end up banned
okay.
ngl i thought it was just all simple weapons maybe i gotta play a monk to refresh my knowledge lol
I didn't realize that 2024 Monk broadened the monk weapon requirements
In 2024 it’s simple melee weapons and light martial melee weapons, idk what ur is in 2014
thats why 2014 sucks 2024 is better /silly
Tbf 2024 monk is a lot better than 2014 monk
i love that wotc spent ages trying to stop people from calling it 5.5 and now that name is official we all call it 2024
It’s the only two handed weapon (barring double bladed scimitar) that is two handed but not heavy if I recall
Funnily enough
The only difference for Mercy Monk is that Flurry of Healing and Harm now has an amount of charges for uses between long Rests lol
I hate how hellbent WotC is on making sure I have zero justification for using the Great Club
I wanna use a big club
Just do it anyway
yeah dnd balance is like that
No
Flavor your Maul as a big club
Use it in combination with Push, charger, crusher and barbarian’s push to YEET enemies
That's the only option
I could just use a Warhammer for a bigger damage die and the same effect
Send them through a wall!!!!!
I'm gonna be playing a 2024 Vengeance Paladin soon 👁
Two-Weapon Fighting style
Get nasty with it
Sick
Guess I could be a Monk with the Great Club and Crusher to be a Push Monk aka Punk
Punh
Monsh
Oddly I don’t like using shields with my paladins
I like this one
I should make a TWF Paladin but I feel like there's not much there
I don't like using Shields, but also, it's better to have them at early levels
I like playing the occasional sword and board barbarian
Divine Favor will take you a long way with that build tbh
Oh it would
It's only an extra 1d4 Radiant damage
But it's 1d4 per hit without concentration
Don’t they have a level 11 feature that lets them do an extra d8 per hit? That also works well
That's pretty good actually I'll do that
Sickle and Club with Slasher feat for -20 ft of movement speed on the enemies and also I do pretty good damage
Then you can slap Hunters Mark on it since they get it on their subclass and you'd be doing 4d6 + 2d4 assuming you always hit from level 3 lol
(At least as a Vengeance Paladin)
Is that including Nick?
Oh yeah I misinterpreted “from”
(Thought you meant from level 3+, not at level 3)
My Paladin might do good ol'
Scimitar and Shortsword
Or
Scimitar and Handaxe
I’ve done handaxe and dagger
Man it's been like 3-4 years since I played DnD I'm very excited to get back into creating characters
I wanna get back into it once summer starts
i want to play like a Dm someday in the future ngl
I played one! Although since it was a thrown weapons build as well I could also equip a shield.
Very fun!
I kinda been wanting to do a thrown paladin for a while now thanks to you Ophidimancer lmao
shame i went with a dexadin
One of my friends and I came up with a Noble Genies Paladin Tiefling cricus act fellow
dexadin, but daggers do work... i should probably buy some
if you want a cheaper option, also darts
same damage, can't melee, but 5CP a piece
and they already quantify in stacks
ooh good catch
The problem is..
Darts don't count as Melee thrown weapons so you can't smite with them, I don't believed.
Hi there!!
if im smiting with Agave, im smiting at melee
"Bonus Action, which you take immediately after hitting a target with a Melee weapon or an Unarmed Strike"
Yeah, you can't smite with Darts as they aren't considered melee weapons
So getting a bunch of Darts would be for naught
I did pick up a bow recently
Hey guys
Is this possible ranger lvl 4 with two weapon fighting n dual wielding fighter a goblin that has hunter mark on them, can i hand crossbow attack dagger nick throw and bonus action throw a dart
Nick is your Light weapon attack
just moved to your Action
Yeah
So unless you have Dual Wielder, no BA attack
Bows are for cowards.
Yeah dual wilder and twf
Sam is very unforgiving :(
Handcross light attack dagger nick for light what frees my bonus action then dual wielder throw a dart?
No
Skill issue
Action:
- Handcrossbow
- Dagger (Nick)
BA:
- Dart (Dual Wielder)
Works, just remember you can only switch weapons for each attack you have
Necrotic damage, dealt by certain undead and a spell such as chill touch, withers matter and even the soul.
interesting lore
What u mean only switch weapons
You're juggling three weapons there, theres only so many times you can pull out/stow a weapon in a turn
Can Artificer Replicated Items be discerned in any way?
No better than any other magic item
My dm is sayin its not worth the effort but all my attack will trigger hunters mark too so mean extra dmg
Im juggling but then throwing them dones this cause a problem
fair nough
Is it not possible?
What?
this works
HM will also apply to all of them yes
And Fury of the Small is once per turn and PB/Day iirc
What about hunter with crossbow expert round 1 BA HM attack crossbow then dagger throw with nick
Then round 2 crossbow crossbow is this better
CBE, HM, and DW are all a BA. You only have one BA
and what about Hunter?
Horde Breaker?
horde breaker isnt inhibited by anything else, just needs more targets within range
Yeah different build soz ranger lvl 4 crossbow expert
CBE also works. Just replace dart with a hand crossbow
Round 1 HM crossbow attack n dagger nick
Round 2 crossbow BA crossbow
What i could do Hcrossbow dagger throw Hcrossbow??
I didnt think this was possible
yes.
I've decided
That if my Tortle Cleric in Waterdeep dies...
I'm replacing him with a Sahuagin (Flavored as a Kuo-Toa) Sea Druid
CBE ignores Loading, extra hand for Ammunition, and its BA attack is not limited in any capacity except for needins a hand crossbow
Does momentary stasis from chronurgy school only can affect large, medium and small creature?
But if i use the dagger throw with nick that doesnt
Yeah i wasnt sure
Yeah, no it wont work, sorry
I genuinely thought the BA attack stayed
So does that mean the ranger twf with dw can do handcrossbow dagger throw BA dart throw ?
just threw up trying to understand "ranger twf with dw"
I have finished another level 20 campaign
A mix of both Princes of the Apocolypse and Tyranny of Dragons. A lot of fun!
You had an aneurysm, nose bleed and vomited, huh?
sure yeah, in that order too
What do y'all think about melee warlock in 2024?
I think i mess things up.
Today i instakill a character from one of my players and he was truly mad for that
his char really piss off an NPC that is the equivalent to a Level 25 Character....
Should I have told him to atleast roll for initiative?
Just K.O his char?
I'm pretty new at being a Long campain DM
uh
could you elaborate on what specifically happened
hello, anyone whi wants to waste thir time to teach me haha. Where should i start
no combat outside of initiative at the very least
Read up on the first few chapters of the free basic rules on #learn-to-play , and feel free to ask any questions you might have
Better in damage but needs more survivability options
#dnd-newcomers should be the place to ask around
Read the information in 'Playing the Game'; Then follow allong with 'Creating A Character' using either the dnd beyond character builder or roll20 to make a practice character before heading over to #character-discussion to have it looked over.
Feel free to ask any questions you still have in #dnd-newcomers or check out the resources in #learn-to-play ; There's a short interactive module you can play to get a feel for the game, or you could seek out gameplay videos online. Once you're ready to play, head over to #find-a-game, one of the many LFG discord servers, r/lfg on reddit, or your friendly local game store. If you'd like a printable character sheet, those can be found here.
soz, thought I was in the DM channel for a sec q_q
tks everybodu
Generally instant death isn't something people would like. Players like having some fighting chance at survival, even if that just means "run away" instead of fighting.
Overall people don't like having their characters killed for any reason, including justifiable ones. Actions have consequences, but instant death is not recommended to be a consequence of play.
I was gonna buy Heliana & Ryoko's Guide to Mythozoology but now I gotta wait until 11/2027
Lets see this sesion was a chill one they recently reach the level 6 and get a reasonable amount of gold to expend, they walk around the city buying stuff and roleplayig until the go to a cafeteria that was close to the main adventurers guild so must of all the adventurers go to that place to relax
this player char was a chaotic neutral wood elf bard that tends to mock anothers NPCs,
So they enter this cafeteria and i discribe the strongest adventurers who were there at that moment (through the waitress)
An Half ork Barbarian Grolk
A Genasi bard igni
And Yeka the drow sorceres (the killer)
I discribe her like, A dangerous and very aggressive drow, but one who tends to ignore those weaker than herself.
GTA 6 before RGtM
Were there no rolls involved at all?
Level 6, I can see them easily getting PWK'd for mouthing off to the wrong kind of person
Now I can sit in bed the rest of the weekend, and worry about my games next week on the day they happen.
But that doesn't sound like what happened
Was a Finger of death....
Kinda insane to have the drow outright murder someone in public though. The whole city should be after her for that.
I mean she is one of the top 5 stronges adventurers from the guild so....
But we finish the sesion there
Just like if a PC did something insane like that in public there should be consequences for extremely bad decisions made by NPCs
You can always have someone from the guild resurrect the currently dead PC
It doesn't seem like a real problem. The drow should be punished for committing a murder in public.
And to make the long stroy short,
He wanted to speak to the drow and mock her a littel, she make him go away but he ask to roll to makes his mocks to really hurt her and piss her off
i told him to roll, was really high rolls, each time she told him to go away, he mocks her again, and with the last roll she just use finger of dead on him and teleports away
And the party of course try to make him stop but he didint
I'm not sure what you're looking for in response.
Are you looking for someone to tell you you did nothing wrong?
You started by saying you think you messed up.
I don't think you messed up... but I do think you should at the very least enforce negative consequences on the drow.
You could also resurrect the currently dead PC with someone from the guild. That is less important to do, in my opinion... but probably a good idea.
Ye if someone doesn't get punished for murder in broad daylight then that can set a very bad precedent for your game.
One could spin this into a new rival/villain character. They dumped a killing spell on a lower level member of the guild. The guild should then excommunicate this person, do their best to bring back the PC, but this deposed guild member is now bitter towards the PC for "getting them kicked out"
I was looking for advice about what to do next
How is everyone's dnd going so far this weekend
Depending on what the PC did and how drow are treated in this world, it’s plausible that she doesn’t get punished
Guys dose anyone have dnd thing I can join
Will be a bit hard to manage because she is one of the top 5 form guild, but i think in something
I really think my character should be updated to be Brock Lesnar, seeing how bad my booking is on West Marches
Pure Strength, Pure Constitution, nothing else matters
wisdom?
Remind me not to use Reddit to look for groups
I don't think Brock Lesnar as a character in the ring has it
damn
Brock Lesnar would be like a level 3 fighter in dnd lok
yeah, normally use this kind of sites or some less... chaotic platforms or some communities
Are there pbp games in find a game?
should be some
check for yourself, i doubt because is a rare thing that. But like always im open to being wrong so
Sometimes. But they fill up quickly
Do wizards have good aoe spells?
... Yes
They have the majority of spells available to them, so, yeah.
Im just making sure
hi dnd discussion
i joined a 5.5e campaign my Friendly Local Game Store™ is hosting, i think called made in abyss or something.
i selected paladin as my starting class since it seemed our table didn't have a tank and we needed one.
would ilmater make sense to be his deity of choice, or should i stick with something more classic like tyr
Made In Abyss...if that's got any connection to the anime, that's almost assuredly going to be a bad time.
it's from a book
Likely a Homebrew one based on the Anime.
all i recall is that abyss is in the title
out of the abyss?
thats forgotten realms, so either of those dieties would work
depends on what you want your paladin to stand for
Your deity of choice doesn't really have any impact as a Paladin (You don't even need one), outside of fluff narrative.
tyr is more justice and retribution, ilmater is more self sacrifice
So pick whatever you feel comfortable roleplaying.
but its all thematic
oh i thought channeling divinity was a class feature like cleric
channel divinity is determined by your oath
Your powers are entirely drawn from your oath, no gods need be involved.
You're not a Cleric who draws directly from a God.
The names of features are just that, names.
even clerics though dont have mechanics from which god they worship
dnd is designed to be pretty modular, so your dm can introduce any god they want without having to create a ton of homebrew mechanics
you’re talking about out of the abyss
Yeah pretty much the only restrictions clerics even have is their God does have to make sense for their subclass
👍
You're not playing a Peace Cleric following Bhall, god of "BLOOD MAKES THE GRASS GROW! KILL KILL KILL!"
yeah and even then thats just on the roleplay side, mechanically a peace cleric could worship bhall, it just wouldnt make sense in universe
i suppose you could work out some convoluted backstory on why to make it make sense if you were really committed
But your DM is more then likely to backhand you and say "NO."
absolutely
they definitely should because it shows you dont care about the story which is a red flag imo
peace can only be attained without the meddling of sapient species, and as such the fastest route to doing so is mass murder or something along those lines
would definitely make for an evil character though
now life domain… that’s gonna be an even further stretch
ultron over here
funnily enough my life domain cleric is kinda going through something like that right now
picked up a cursed sword and became a vampire
which was not at all the direction i thought hed go in, just kinda happened
It's kind of funny when core character traits spring from being entirely unplanned.
gonna let the corruption arc simmer for a few more levels before trying to fix it
Like my Fairy (now Winged Centaur) having absolutely no issues with eating people, because Some Fey are just like that.
very fun from a story perspective
Life can only lead tp eventual death, so the best thing you can do to someone is to kill them
your death will bring new life in the vegetation that grows from you
therefor i must kill you to create that life
Fairy "We can just eat them." Dragon "I agree, eat them." Dragon Knight annoyed "Keep that as plan C."
theres always one smh my head
New IRL Quest added: Run a DnD campaign that is literally just Minecraft's progressions disguised as some Fearun adventure, see how far you can get before the players realize.
well like
ngl i still want someone to make a minecraft mod for it to work as a vtt
yes i don't necessarily care about the story but it's not in a troll i hate games kind of way
imagine just being able to build battlemaps in minecraft it would be so peak
Something i suspect will probably blow up in your face.
it's more i was added last minute and was integrated in a very haphazard way
so i haven't had the time to get invested
but i want to make sure i'm doing my part
Because things based on cheap laughs and misdirection are rarely something people enjoy.
ah like beds from minecraft
i really want to run a short campaign set in the alien universe but not tell my players its alien themed
i feel like theres design space there to make it really scary and very memorable
Also likely to go poorly, but for different reasons.
some players really hone in on the crafting and design process but i'm paying for my seat at the table more to have the social experience
At least, if you're actually trying to keep it 'modern'
D&D doesn't do Technology well, if at all. And their singular attempt at it in 5E was...pathetic really.
flavour is free
"Behold the cantrip of...uh, flip lightswitch?"
it’s either that or giant laser guns
id probably just tell them its sci fi, and to reflavour everything they have as technology, not use the terrible ua stuff
no in between
To be completely honest I wish they just sticked to magic and magitech
I have a question
I have an answer
If I'm a Warforged, and become a painter, is it technically AI art?
Ummmm
and, if a person builds a sweatshop of warforged artists, does it count as a data centre
Slightly different when theres sentient intelligence i believe
how do you know?
Warforged are partially organic and are canonically sentient, so I’d say no…
Canon
This I’m less sure about
Oh, then it's just normal servitude, that's bad
anyway how fun are life domain clerics?
8.5 fun
It depends on what you enjoy doing and how badly your party makes decisions, ive enjoyed it so far
I like them, I know some people who consider them boring, but I like them
You are playing a fully different game to everyone else though
Everyone is playing damage etc. And youre playing full util support running and positioning
Granted you can setup as pseudo tank as well
ehhh?
Moth life cleric with decent dexterity and a shield goes hard
I see
Not crazy strong but rhe flavor is nice
oh if it doesn't matter and it's not really required
Then IS there a good cleric?
then i suppose i won't bother
clerics are great if you like being good at everything bc they’re good at everything. except skills, i guess.
they, moreso than bards, are a great jack of all trades class
Isn't that all the things?
wdym by good
they get good ac/defense, good damage, and can heal like nobody’s business
Arcana Cleric, best Cleric. 😄
clerics stand against the darkness
from an optimized perspective yeah clerics are one of the better classes
A cleric that is an active class, I spose
I see
look up the spell spirit guardians :3
They're very maleable. Like, you don't have to be the healbot.
i mean you need strength to get the highest AC which makes them a bit MAD
isn't that just aoe hell?
Light cleric is also more active.
whats aoe hell
realistically you just go dex though which is very close and much easier
Just get you 14 dex, some scale mail, and a shield. You'll be fine 👍
i took all healing spells as paladin since our cleric wasn't life domain
Fireball will do that

alas most people don’t use encumbrance
healing isnt as necessary as people think
I kinda wanna play cleric or sorcerer, something that pairs well with being a teifling
tiefling?
there are a lot of challenges that amount to "you're gonna have a bad time. oh, you have a cleric? nevermind"
Blame WOTC leaving alot of the weights on things up to the DM.
tailbling
?
most weights are p well defined
Have you considered Spellfire sorcery?
my current AL character is a tiefling cleric
This is a sorceror that heals 😄
isnt that ua or did they make it a thing now in 5.5
tiefling grave cleric specifically, super goth it’s cool
it’s in the fr book
It was in the last book. It's live content
is posting pictures not alowed here?!?!
Circle Magic is also in the Heroes of Faerun book
It seems really fun I might start implementing it
wow coolio
As I recall, basically every Magic Item, various bits of loot, don't have a suggested weight. Which means the second you get away from normal adventuring items, the DM now has to even more work, and then badger the players to track it properly, among whatever else. And it become more of a hinderance, then anything that adds to anyones experience.
So that's why basically nobody bothers with it
as a dm i enforce encumbrance and i’ve never yet run into problems with having ill defined weights.
most magic items are variants on things with defined weights
we interrupt this game to give everyone math homework: 10 artworks of various weights
oh you just gave it all to the barbarian ... okay
And subtracting damage from your HP
"how much do eight rubies, six amathysts, five chunks of diamond, and one raw potato weigh dm?"
Wait. This group is for dnd online...right?
This is the Offfical discord for D&D in general
1.38lb
Huh?
I was gonna have things without a listen weight just not have weight unless they are a version of something with a defined weight.
AL?
Oh okay lol. Cuz i play online. And i need some help if anyone's got some spare time to help me out?
Spellfire sorcerors get access to healing spells as well. So you can both be dealing damage and healing the party
adventurers league
most of the math your talking about is far more simpler than doing the math of how much someone can carry and how much stuff weighs. You can easly end up with a grocery list of different weights unless you simplify. Its why i prefer slot based inventory.
and that is?
“a big potato is about a pound and gems are coinweight”
I see, what's the subclass bonuses?
Aventurers League, basically Official WOTC run, entirely Rules As Written play.
With it's own adventures not found in books IIRC
Wotc and iirc?
i agree that’s not precisely defined but i don’t find it burdensome to come up with that number (also i think there’s some line somewhere abt gems being coinweight but i can’t remember where i saw it…)
(i could be stealing that from b/x)
There's also just the fact that not all tables are bothered by a little extra bookkeeping
Wizards of the Coast, and If I recall correctly.
Some players are completely fine with it
simplifying is fine
Some players want it
IE, The people who own DND, and "If I'm remembering my crap right. :V
i'm down for simple encumbrance
i just like some system that makes people think about what they choose to take and forces tradeoffs
Yeah sometimes I like stuff like that and sometimes my players like stuff like that
the way load works in blades in the dark is fantastic, would love some of that for D&D
noooo i do not like that
lvl 3: When you use a sorc point, you can either burn someone or heal someone for a 1d4.
lvl 6: Successfully counter spelling someone gives you back sorc points
lvl 14: Improves the lvl 3 features
lvl 18: You transform and get stuff like flight and evasion
I'm not familiar with that
bitd is a story game and d&d is an adventure game and the difference between how each handles inventory is an important reflection of that
and i like that d&d is a straight adventure game, i do not want story game mechanics in it
you decide if your character is being subtle or is being a walking arsenal, and you get to make tradeoffs of how big the weapons and how heavy the armor you bring (and how much other fun equipment you can carry) based off of that
yes, but you get to decide it after the fact retroactively
bringing heavy rope could mean bringing one less weapon
I've been playing Cyberpunk Red with my group and that system makes things like downtime, paying for your lifestyle, and stuff like that inherently more important in a way that it can't really be handwaved compared to how stuff like that is often (and understandably) looked over in D&D
if you decide it beforehand that’s just ordinary encumbrance
Downtime is one of the only ways to actually heal lost HP in that system
Most direct heals are once per day
And you need to have a place that your character lives at and sleeps, and it's important what you get and how much your character can and is willing to pay for that because resting is the only way to heal and you need to rest and store your stuff safely. Your place can get broken into more easily if you cheap out.
And none of that feels boring or book keepy it's just a part of the system.
I don't think D&D could get away with it being such a required thing like CBPR does
it was really important in older editions
wouldnt complain about that
it absolutely could, it was as required in 2e for example
i don't believe it was any different in older editions than it is now
in 2e you healed, what was it, 1hp a day of downtime?
yeah but nobody relied on that healing to get through a campaign
and wizards learning new spells required weeks of downtime to do so
in old editions, your healing came from the cleric spending all of their spell slots healing you
no, depending on the version of the game
In 5e? nah they are humanoids
In 5.5e? Its machine art not AI
the assumption in the ad&d dmg was also that, aside from downtime in session, you also had downtime between sessions that progressed in realtime too
Don't Warforged have souls
Yes
They do indeed have souls.
like i think ad&d is very downtime oriented, similar to cyberpunk
i've read that in the dmg, but tbh i never ever saw it when I played 2e >_>
stuff like living expenses is kinda a relic of that
oh big whop i know a skeleton with like 6 of them in different jars
I know that 5E treats it like an afterthought that's kind of just tacked on.
i mean coming back to 5e after playing other rpgs (world of darkness mainly recently) was a bit funny because in other rpgs ive been playing ive always been doing realtime-downtime as a habit picked up from a previous gm and a 5e campaign Just Does Not Work with that
5.5 has acknlowedged it more, with things like Bastions, but it's still...pretty crap.
I had my Ghosts of Saltmarsh players get a week of downtime or two after every major adventure in the book, and they really liked it and it started to be something that they looked forward to because they usually came out of it with something crafted or having spent the downtime doing something else rewarding
long rests are a bit blunt of a solution yeah
even the most common houserule fixes for long rest ease (safe haven/gritty realism) break down if you use realtime downtime
5E prefers and encourages just a non-stop "Into one fire after the other, jumping from one proverbial pan to the next."
I like downtime but it really puts the pressure on players and DM since there are barely any book stuffs to use
yeah and that’s really cool
but in AL almost everyone just uses it to level up
there’s a lot, tbh, between the 14 phb, 14 dmg, and xge
but freeform DTAs aren’t that hard to manage
i mean i think realtime downtime would break down at my tables because sometimes we end on cliffhangers and like, it just doesn't make sense that we get a week of rest in the middle of a fight
oh sure it’s not a rigid always thing
but like, daggerheart at least has far more interesting rest mechanics than 5e, and I think doing even better than daggerheart is perfectly achievable
just an “unless we are forced not to”
and yet they still feel undercooked
In what world does Aristocratic dinner cost only 6 SP
I WANT REAL SPICES NOT SOME PRESTODIGITATION
at the very least, giving the players choices as to what their resting accomplishes instead of just hitting the reset button, and giving them downsides to over resting, would go a long way
prestidigitates over your food
yeaaah resting is 5e’s biggest mechanical flaw i think
You ruined this perfectly fine cut of meat
it simply restricts the kinds of stories and games you can run too much
And their alternative rests are worse
Btw i do wonder, do wizards changing the taste of the food with prestodigitation sometimes mess up?
I don't know, i kind of like gritty realism resting with a week long rest
"Behold, a week for a Long Rest! Now no progress gets made, ever!"
It's about the journey not the destination
i don’t think a week long long rest means no progress gets made
we were just talking abt how we wanted the game to emphasize downtime more!
Ah yes the journery of "Pray to god nothing intterupts the Long Rest over the week and resets it."
well, players do like resting a lot
you have to balance your entire game against this
what do you mean Pray to god, you have a DM at the table...
It's a turn of phrase and you know it.
if you run gritty realism resting and never give your players uninterrupted downtime thats on you tbh
just make your players rest in the safe lodging
roadside inn, a city, a small town. Staying with a farmer family
you shouldn’t be rolling random encounters while players are just recuperating in a city!
that’s for wilderness and dungeons
also you can let them use the resting period for down time
My players only get downtime if they're back at town safely
The story of that game is also able to be put at a pace that you as the DM want
So I can have there be a week before the next major thing actually starts
Without it really messing with anything
Some games' stories have much more urgency though where you may not be able to get away with that
yes you will roll your eyes if i mention it
but LOTR was as urgent as it gets and the adventure still took like 20 years
honestly i think the best houserule for resting in 5e might, in the end, be “you can long rest when I SAY you can long rest!”
only if the DM knows what their doing though
sure yeah
The cog people have souls?
dont want the party being like "we only died because the DM was too stingy with long rests :("
At my table it's on my players to discern if they are safe enough to long rest and decide if they want to long rest
If they don't have food then they can't, and if I think they're somewhere dangerous enough they will probably get interrupted
it’s about controlling pacing too, sometimes it makes sense in the narrative for there to be the frequent opportunity to sleep in a safe location and yet that would be awful for game balance and pacing using standard long rest rules
I did notice my DM was really unwilling in trying to kill us so i started daring them to
the existing SR/LR rules, or even modifications like safe haven or gritty realism, limit the kinds of pacings you can have a lot
I was at a table like that for a very long time
My DM would never endanger us and would actively bend reality to rescue us
And it was pretty uncool
Nobody at the table liked it
I love when things go south
i downed three players, one of whom died, the session before last…
"Aw man none of you guys picked a Cleric or a Druid? Better watch out!"
There's a reason none of us picked a support caster, brother
the survivors fled and got a ton of hirelings and had a much easier time last session
and what about their player characters?
thank god, nothing of value was lost
also i think in this context the hirelings are called police officers
My players are kinda getting their butt kicked in the Welcome to the Hellfire Club starter set
ohhhhh that explains the bisexual mood lighting
Can i use my bonus action to cast a misty step and then after i cast it am i still can to move for another 30ft?
yes
If you still have movement speed yes
bisexual mood sirens too
teleportation doesn’t use your movement
unless it specifically does
Walk 15 feet, misty step, and walk another 15 feet
Misty step doesn't consume your movement so you can
there is at least one teleportation that does consume your movement im aware of
I don't recall any teleport that consumes movement.
Is it wise to have both absorb elements and shield?
I wouldn't
Yes.
Which one do u prefer
saves don't care about AC
There's absolutely no downside to picking up both.
Silvery Barbs
i dont have strixhaven so that spell cant hurt me
The most frequently banned spell?
that and not shield?
I've actually only taken it once
And only ended up using it like 3-4 times from level 3 to 6
Portal Jump. On your turn, you can spend an amount of movement equal to half your Speed (round down) to teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 10 feet of yourself or within 5 feet of a creature that is within 30 feet of you and holding one of your Adventurer’s Atlas maps. You can’t use this benefit if your Speed is 0.

Its a cartographer arteficer feature
Weird
I love how it consumes half of your movement to telport 10 ft
half your speed (round down)
so eg 17' of movement if your speed is 35'?
still restrictive on a grid
Currently im using 4 level 1 spells that is silvery barbs, tasha hideous laughter, shield and absorb elemnts am i should to have that much of level 1 spells?
I can see the value in that
You have too many reaction spells
better than disengage i guess
You don't need all three of those I'd say
It also doesn't seem to require components of any sort
Just eyesight and fwoom
I couldn't find any level 1 spells thats better than them
Magic Missile is good
Class features don't really do components?
But the damage is negligible, im considering taking jims magic missile lul
They're not spells.
Yeah I know
because its a feature not a spell
magic missile’s damage isn’t negligible
But it also doesn't say that you need to be holding your artificer tools like would be reasonable for an artificer feature
also, magic missile is an autohit with no save
I think the closet you get to compents in features is something like Rune Knight, which requires you to inscribe runes into Items
with a damage type that’s almost never resisted
It's the best damage type in the game and it's guaranteed to hit
Unless they too, have Shield
The only way they can prevent getting hit with it is the shield spell or counterspelling it
dpr wise it’s one of the best 1st level spells
Yeah I was typing brother
shakes fist shieeeld!
9th Level Magic Missile versus Lvl 1 Wizard
wizards should be squishy dangnabbit
I had a question about DMing...
What is concidered better Foundry or Roll20? I want to get into DMing but dont know what pathway to go down lol
just throw in 2-3 low level Magic missiles before committing
Foundry is definitely better then Roll20, but more complex
let me lure you onto the side of pen and paper…
But infinitely more capable if you put the work into it
Kind of sucks to do when not in person 😛
simply play in person
No thanks.
yes i know there’s good reasons why someone might not but i genuinely do prefer it and will recommend it over online play, ive just never really enjoyed online play ever
and if you can i really do recommend like roping your friends and family into it for a good ol pnp game
I enjoy both for separate reasons, though I've tended to lean more towards in-person recently.
Is it wise to make my warlock to only have 5 int on the starts of the game and then putting all of the remaining ability points into charisma
It might be worth noting that if you're following the rules, distributing points doesn't really work that way. For example, lowest you can put a score is 8. Highest is 15.
no
I feel the sudden urge to shovel mouthfuls of gravel into my body, is there a creature that does this?
…huh
Xorns?
a pica-chu
nah, this urge feels more rock lizard than cave abomination, you know?
U guys have any tips for improving my rp as a PC?
One day, I opened my character sheet (digital) I looked through my stuff and for some reason I got all meta magic options, me and my dm never fixed it so im just rolling around with the all meta magic even though i never use it
:S I wouldnt
"You remove poison and rot from nonmagical food and drink in a 5-foot-radius Sphere centered on a point within range."
its neither poison, nor rot, after all
(2014 version) "All nonmagical food and drink within a 5-foot-radius sphere centered on a point of your choice within range is purified and rendered free of poison and disease." same kind of deal
Does anyone have a premade dnd world map that can be use? Or anyone know a website to get one for free?
Forgotten Realms has a bunch of maps you can find online. It's a large setting
But if you search world maps as a broader concept, you'll find no shortage

Ngl I love how the Dr. Drolhins dictionary of dinosaurs got added. Makes me hope Paleo games other book gets added
If you're doing your homebrew setting, you'd be better off, and likely enjoy making your own world map.
It's not even that hard with certain programs.
World Anvil is quite easy to work with, as an example.
theres plenty of free programs
inkarnate or azgaars can be good for making world maps. Personally i used nortlantis which is a great free program for making world maps
for battlemaps, dunegon scrawl or inkarnate are good free options. Canvas of kings is a good paid option if youre willing
also at the end of the day, simply using paint or having a rough sketch works more than enough, it also allows you to rely more on descriptions than images
I am getting kinda sick of some russian players, i recently heard the question "can you use action surge as a reaction?"
i dont see what that has to do with russian players specifically? i get a language barrier can be a tad annoying but just explain it
"no, its at any time on your turn"
I live in Russia
It still just sounds like new players. They're the same everywhere.
And there surprisingly aew a lot of posers who didn't even read a book
yeah thats worldwide
Posers? So you mean it's like an attitude problem? "Confidently wrong" and such?
An approach that might help is that you tell them to check the wording of the ability and tell you. It encourages them to be proactive - if they’re gonna need to check the ability anyways, might as well do it before
Yet try to devise their own homebrews, make builds and talk about the game like they have been playing since Gary Gygax released the first dnd in 1970 something
Yea
They could have well played D&D for a long time and still not know the most current rules. After all, we are in 5e/5.5e
That is not to say it's not a good idea to read up and admit that you aren't up to date.
Also ppl here like the method of getting into it by not reading any rulebook, joining sessions and learning rules as dm explains to them
a lot of people hear about the game and just want to play it without reading hundreds of pages of rules, which granted they should read the rules but i cant blame them
The people in #dnd-newcomers regularly suggest otherwise, but unfortunately it’s quite common
Doesn’t help that it can get overwhelming quick
I saw someone trying to advertise their game without classes, without magic, without levels and with only accesible race being human
And i saw few of posers who were in the chat eith my friends trying to deadass defend it like it was completely fine
-# side not, hell yeah Qingque pfp
Like, why use dnd atp
Put it nearly the days after hsr released and didn't chamge ever since
its the most popular option, so people default to it and change it before looling at other systems
Many people are more familiar with the term “dnd” than “TTRPG”
I kinda want to start a revolution now because of it, honestly
many have been trying
I'm built different trust, i am supreme and the coolest strongest and... Idunno, i am not sure how do i act as overconfident person, that's hard
its easy enough, just say it with enough certainty
Got it, do u know how to print a world map without being blurry?
physically print? no clue
maybe try making it a pdf and then printing that?
or porting it to paint or something
pathfinder tried, daggerheart tried/is trying, cosmere tried, etce tecetcetcetcetcetcetcetc. Im pretty sure if D&D as a game died and stopped being printed, people would still refer to TTRPGs as D&D
Just destroy all ttrpgs atp
hmm you may be on to something there
real
theres a shocking amount of dnd players who dont actually like dnd
DnD unfortunately by virtue of being the “default” ttrpg is kinda bent into all kinds of shapes and it gets played by a lot of folks who might enjoy other systems more
Building minis on heroforge and writing the next session for my campaign while sitting on top of a castle feels awesome
DnD is the worst thing ever created
anyway im excited for the session today
is creature type a species trait?
What
Creature type is decided by species if thats what you mean
All species will list what creature type they are
Technically yeah? It's moreso part of its classification (speed, size, type, lifespan)
I wouldnt say its a trait
@mystic horizon (moving from art channel) well, you can meet people here! there's also plenty of DnD artists in art communities
It’s a trait
All of those little boxes list your species thing type abilities size speed
Yes I agree that those are all traits
Traits are something you have
To me humans have traits like spacial vision, warmblood, 2 legs
Being a mammal I didnt think was a trait
In DnD terms
not mammal, humanoid
I know
mammals dont exist in dnd
Your creature type is still also a trait aka humanoid
I meant irl
I don’t think traits exactly exist irl
Do you know that?
Of course traits exist irl
In terms of dnd to irl no I don’t think they do
We aren’t exactly vast enough to have them
After a quick google search I dont think DnD has anything defined as traits per species
So creature type is not a trait
But it is
and remember that 5.5e is something like the... counts ...13th rules revision?
Like the size of a Goliath
The rule books?
…I suspect you’re misarticulating your point, because this is just incorrect. Species traits are listed in the PHB, both versions have them
Ill have a look to find out!
Human Traits
Creature Type: Humanoid
Size: Medium (about 4-7 feet tall) or Small (about 2-4 feet tall), chosen when you select this species
Speed: 30 feet
I think its cool that the max size of a medium creature is 8 feet tall
Where is this from? Out of curiousity because the MM 2024, when giving advice on how to read a statblock shows type and traits as seperate things.
The players hand book
In 2024, it lists type and traits separately there as well.
I think in the PHB when talking about PC's its distinguishes between traits (which are part of your Species) and Special traits which are seperate.
MM when talking about NPC's doesnt make that distinction.
He said the Monster Manual after all
Why would we be talking abou the Monster manual?
Why wouldnt we be? I was just asking the question because I found the discussion interesting.
We were talking about if Creature Type is a Species Trait
Which it is I guess not in the monster manual I guess
Yes, and it looks like for PC's it is, the PHB defines/seperates out special traits as not part of the species but for NPC's in the MM it is defined seperately.
That’s ultimately because traits aren’t defined the same way between PCs and NPCs/monsters
Plenty of things that are considered traits for one aren’t for the other
Which is what I found mildly interesting.
It is
It raises some interesting thoughts about the way NPCs and PCs are each designed
I think the main diff between the two are PCs are made to be played and NPCS are not
Npcs have acess to stuff that Pcs more often then not wont have
Imagine if the Cthulhu stat block has “vulnerable to bludgeoning damage from boats”
Mainly as a reference to that story ending with a guy turning Cthulhu into the ocean version of a speed bump
I shall ponder my orb
I have found out that the Ravenloft book is set to release in 59 days
I'm reading about the Flaming Fist, and it's so funny to me that if the PCs don't go to do the mission, their boss will send a group of not just 6 Flaming Fist members but also a flame skull to escort the players to do the mission.
i thought the story ended with the guy turning himself into a splinter in the side of a god?
It's really a case of, "Why don't you just go do it, then?"
I know there evil but its like come on dude you have a flame skull
not to mention if they party some how deals with that group he just sends to more but anywho
It’s like the actually good leader isn’t there or something
Also the pcs are apart of the flaming fist...
Hello everyone! Ive been looking for a discord for dnd loll!
You came to the right place friend
Sit down at the tavern and grab a few drinks and tell us a few stories
fantastic.... what kind of stories? ha
Any kind I am always happy to lend an ear
#tales-from-the-table if you want just straight stories but otherwise just general discussion
oh fun! wow this is pretty cool!
I agree but we are mostly waiting for june 16th
oh? what is june 16th?
The newest dnd book come out
a new ravenloft book, so horror stuff and straud
well
straud adjacent stuff; the domains of dread
dope!
Some updated subclasses for 5.5e and new subclasses too
New races as well
yo
Well 1 new race and 3 updated races
that is so cool! do you have a particular prferance in the books?
I just want the dog people ngl
advantage on perception checks that require hearing or smell, ability to lick wounds, run on all fours for a speed increase
i see the vision wotc refuses to realise
Running on all fors for a speed incrase would be cool
of course a built in bite attack
oh for sure
yo thats cool
I just wanna say thank you BG3 for existing for my up coming BG:DiA camp
yo im new and want to join a game if possible, im 18
mb thanks
paid?
some are, some arent
Is Shield a weapon or not? (2014)
its just an item, not a weapon as it doesnt have a specified damage/damage type Id say
it can be an IMPROVISED weapon tho
so that mean "Dueling" is still work if a fight hold a sword and a shield.
Yup!
Like, a lantern isn't a weapon, but you could certainly lamp someone with one.
Saw this kinda thing on my fyp thought I could adjust it to dnd.
Dm: could you please not
Problem Player: IWMCWD
Dm: you are fighting in a small corridor
Wizard: ICF
Dm: there’s a dragon infront of you
Bard: CIRTS
Dm: you enter a dark cave
Dwarf: IHDV
Dm: And that concludes the end of the session
Player: DWLU
See how many you get!
Fair enough
"its what my character would do"
the bane of my existence
Dwarf I have dark vision
i had this one paladin who was knocked down just before the end of session and apparently "if i didn't save him the paladin would've killed my warlock" and that's just 🤮
Aight I need to come up with some more that was clearly too easy
"Can I use my homebrew even though I just joined this game and the rules say no homebrew?"
I remember there was this one time a paladin in full plate tried to press my druid, and I kept telling him I wouldn't need to lift a finger to beat him.
And he kept saying do it then I looked at them dm and he allowed us to duel
I won int and up casted heal metal on his armor and turn into a bird and flew up
They never ask permission, they come with the homebrew charecter prebuilt
I always think thats weird
Like whenever I get into the "any QSoC" thats like the very first thing I always ask before I make my character
A lot of other things I can acept. Long as it is done in respect of others but joining with impossible expectations? No.
Player: kills the final boss
Dm: HDYWTDT
Player: Can I go stab the king in the neck
DM: YCCT
Dm: everyone roll your stealth checks
Rogue: DATFP
Dm: you start in a tavern
Player: IGTTTBK
Those are also pretty easy
Sometimes it's because they litteraly didn't bother to read, and have Main Charecter Syndrome, other time they did read, and didn't care, and still have Main Charecter Syndrome, more rarely...they might just be stupid.
I feel doing either of the first 2 is a precursor for the last one
Yeah but like whenver your going int any type of game the dm will usually say "do you have any quesitons comments or concerns" and ill usually ask "how do you feel about 3rd party/homebrew"
legit not that hard to ask in the middle of the interview or whatever you wanna call it
Most homebrew isn’t prefect and needs editing because the dm is trying to get it work better. I’ve had players come up to me with a ridiculous subclass that they really want to play and know it too strong so we have appropriately nerfed it together. Homebrew is all about collaborating with the dm to make it as fun as possible in my games I don’t know why people think otherwise
Player: IGTTTBK : Definitely not "I go to the tasty burger king."
mmm
Yeah. You need a group with good trust first before player side homebrew seems like a good idea.
burger king
How many gp would a wopper be though
Ive made a few homebrew subclasses/races but they are not allowed outside of my tables
Mainly cause I use stuff from 3e and 4e in a few of the races
and that would fry the mind of a normal dnd player
That reminds me, I still kind of want to attempt to bring that one SW5E subclass to 5E... Way of Manipulation was cool (TLDR Basically a Subclass that functionally mimics animate objects kind of. Telikinetically controlled weapons are coooool.)
Ooh, the last one is difficult
I go to the tavernkeep burger king
It'd be copper, not gold. Peasants gotta be able to buy it afterall.
Asdx spitting fax
75 it’s a common magic item that makes any person within 60ft burst into the whopper song once per long rest as an action
I reflavor all my good berries to be good burgers
"can I offer you a burger in these trying times?"
the new Noble art is killing me lmao
well not new 2024
"hmm yes this boar taste qutie lovely"
I do love killing a noble for easy starting armour
Love killing nobles in general
They usually annoying as hell
Either they've got poor taste in makeup, or a horrid skin condition.
Nobles are probably my favorite npcs to have involved in something
Real "eat the rich" -vibes lol
Finding out an NPC was a Princess that survived a murder attempt by a Vampire Vizier certainly led to the most fun I've had in my Saturday campaign.
Real
Lead to a whole trek to another Kingdom, a whole plot around toppling Secret Vampire Cabal, politics, tactical turbo murder, Knights, a Tourney, the whole nine yards. It was great.
I'm so excited for my session tomorrow, hope I can pull off what I want to tell
Good luck Echo
My one shot last night was messy
