Ok, I researched impulse speed and didn’t see a change. I’ll try it again.

So it’s just swarm research then. Anything to do with the Franklin won’t work on the Franklin-A. I just upgraded impulse speed from 8 to 12 and Franklin-A still shows 100.

Anything for the Franklin research should work aside from the frequency modulator cost reduction. Any research that is g3 ship specific won't effect it though.

I hate to stir the pot, but I hated alliance hoppers. They cheated on helps, they cheated in territories. They cheated in PvP events. If I were Scopely I would have gone waaàay harder than just fixing the help exploit

*Some people were annoying yes, coming by twice a day, every day. But most took fair use out of it and only used it for e.g. Ops.

Next to that, hopping was never only about hopping. It gave you the chance to lower the gap with whales in your server. It created friendships, coalitions between alliances and unforgettable memories each time. Most people didn't jump every 5 minutes but stayed e.g. 30min, an hour and talked with the players. It gave you the chance to see how other alliances work, how they may do things differently.

When players have to wait so long for things to finish, they get demotivated. F2P players won't suddenly all buy packs to get more Latinum and speedups, they quit. The second research was a good way to help those players, but they won't pay the €20. A €5 option, like the one for buildings, would be considered by them. €20... not. (Even though I understand the research is more valuable)

As a possible option, if they don't want to allow ally hopping again, they could let the alliance helps reset everyday like dailies. That way you can ask your alliance each day for helps again.*

It is noteworthy too that they removed the extra helps option the same day they charge £20 for the second researcher. Take away a free option to help grow and add a pay one, and at an expanded cost. Cheers 👍

The prevailing opinion is that things against the spirit of the game are ok if the game lets you do it, so they closed the loophole. Now it doesn't let you do it. There really isn't anything complicated about it, though I have no doubt that the timing is far from accidental.

I was never a fan of Alliance hopping, I have been in the same alliance pretty much for the last 2 years and am mainly FTP; yes i have spent some on the first few battlepasses but speedups were never really an issue until I hit the high lvl 30s. True I don't have an Enterprise, D4 or Auger to compare ship build times with but 60 days with no warning before scrapping my old Frankie really sucks. I have gotten the time down to 30 days with speedups and lat but without a viable way to participate in the event (I can't kill swarms anymore) I am completely locked out for a month while it finishes building

Now that is something I can agree with. I am lucky, I have seen content on here so knew what I was letting myself in for and have warned my alliance. Since the new lat research though I have been doing daily double pulls so had the lat to rush the build.

I am not sure how, but some sort of warning on scrapping the old franklin of the construction time of the replacement would definitely be a good move.-

Fixing a bug is never not a good idea - ppl just need a fairer mechanism to address the whole nonlinear increase in build time as you level up but (the mostly) linear increase in acquisition of lat/speedups issue.

Refresh help queues every x time-period would go a long way to solve this problem. Help tours were always unfair on the majority who didn’t jump imo.

They’ve probably done nothing to sort the help bug precisely because of this exploit acting as a pressure release valve, so that the players who would complain about build times were pointed to this unofficially as a “solution”. Now that the “solution” disappears, the fundamental problem reappears - in fact exacerbated by the recent tone-deaf 60d build time on the FrankAy.. and etc. As mentioned somewhere above, this is unfortunate as the ppl who did exploit the help bug probably do have the necessary lat/speedup for the new ship and any long research/build times in the short term..

People keep calling it an exploit or a bug... history lesson: there used to be no alliance cooldown whatsoever. They then implemented the 8h one exactly to deal with this since there was no value in hopping except helps.

Calling it an exploit now is validating their behaviour of tightening the screws on no to low spenders. No official confirmation AND such a glaring omission from the patch notes only proves they know exactly what they’re doing.

The mechanism was there. They removed it without a word. Was it a perfect mechanism? Perhaps not, but it was in line with the rest of the game. Make some progress for free, the rest of the progress is by purchase (speedups) or grinding(hopping). Another (frequently made) argument made was territory capture hopping by whales which I agree is a serious issue (though not on my server). But if anything this little manoeuvre exacerbated and not alleviated that.

By calling it a bug or an exploit you only validate them removing it. It’s as simple as that.

Event tickets need to go back to being a daily chest to claim. Tying them to another event in the same 24 hour period was already not a great idea. Tying them to another event that is also itself time-gated is straight up bad design.

They don’t have a swarm bonus refinery coded, but they do have a g3 refinery coded. My compromise solution would be to load a bonus g3 refinery that they already have all the coding for. It’s not ideal, but they can’t just reset the timers on the refineries

(I remember just last week if the game allows it then it's okay referring to alliance hopping.) But when the game takes from players it a bug and you are made whole how ? I was upset, at first, with having to scrap a max franklin. All that time spent! However, the ship is amazing and I was wrong. Then I was mad at the timer on the build time. Once again, scopley, classy move! We got a speedups chest with a ton of speedups!

I was super excited about the arc on day 1 and some things distracted me. Thank you so much for this arc so far and what it means for economy.

Actually the new Franklin is pretty good, pretty exciting. An upgrade for the Vidar and Stella would be epic also (hint hint). I think the implementation was a bit wonky that's all, and I would say most of that is down to communication.

I'll be honest, I spent waaaay too much stuff in Arc 3 of TOS and I would have waited for this month if I had known. This month is really great as far as I'm concerned. Very cool stuff.

if you're going to go that route, I would make sure that you score first.
Events that are based on ops level can and have increased when you level up. The most notable instance was a rush to ops event, where upgrading ops increased the event before applying your points and instead of completing the event left you partially completed in the next tier event, because it doesn't lock the events in until you score 😅

The swarmadas were always supposed to be rare. through an oversight/error they were released as uncommon. our OFFICIAL podcast, and OFFICIAL video release pertaining to this arc, also mentioned rare directives, as did the patch notes, written by scopely.

it was a pleasant, albeit temporary error that they took uncommon's. it was always gonna be fixed, as the economy of these, and rewards therefore, were geared around the slightly more limited commodity of rare directives, ie jaylah shards and rare armada loot.

of course its disappionting that they changed it, but it's no one's fault other than scopely's that it was wrong in the first place. they have been corrected to what they were always suppsoed to be.

there's no need for finger pointing or accusations. scopely made it what they wanted it to be. i doubt @earnest hornet had any say in the decision lol

and fyi, for the record, the mods, AND the CC's, are considered official sources of information, YET EVEN they can be wrong from time to time if scopely makes a last minute change. it is what it is. we are all here for the betterment of the community.

i have always prided myself in being as factual as possible. our content is based on scopely data, and scopely provided information. you can trust the info from the mods and the cc's as if it were fact, and if it's INCORRECT, then we were as in the dark as you were regarding a scopely decision change.

Annoyed Scopely didn’t push a game client reset with the backend change, and it doesn’t show rare but charged rare until you reset your game client. So yeah... I think more than a few will be annoyed.
