saladin is one of the best all around ships in the late 20s well into the 30s.
bortas is a great base defender (it's primary ability is to boost your base defense) and is a party bus, though.
side question - anyone have the graphic for the event calendar during the battlepass handy? Or does anyone know the command for LCARS if it has it in !charts?

The Bortas is good for hostile grinding, but the Sally better for PvP, the only disadvantage with the Sally is that it costs crystals to upgrade which are in short supply when you are also trying to upgrade a Kvort and Antares

Well yes... for some reason I have a stash of ore so the Bortas was pretty cheap to tier to 7. Though to be fair its expensive to repair. I can easily kill lvl40 vet traders with it. (Pike Moreau and Maxed Chen).

Stella is a really frustrating cycle. Need to do armadas to get materials to upgrade ship, need to upgrade ship to do armadas. If the armada system was changed so that the rewards for defeating them was individual rather than split among the group, it would be much less frustrating.

@foggy forge not every event gives out the same amount of points and there are often multiple simultaneous events that give points. The rewards have also tended to increase as the arc progresses. During the last arc with a similar event it was possible to acquire the last mission keys 2 or 3 days before the event expired, it will likely be the same here.

I’ve managed to complete every event and every mission in every arc without having to buy points. Those who buy the battlepass and extra points get to do stuff earlier and get a lot of bonus stuff, but it doesn’t affect ability to actually complete the content.

I have no doubt the battlepass can be completed across the full length of the arc. What I'm concerned about is the Going out with a Bang event where you score pts by completing the missions which expires in 7 days. the next mission key is at milestone 18 which is 256k pts. If you completed all the daily events without buying a pts pack so far you should have 124k - so that's another 132k in 7 days - just under 19k per day

Yeah, I think you need to buy points for that, and I think it's been that way for previous Arcs as well. Unsure as I've never been of a level to receive those events, but think that's what I have heard

For pvp to be viable with the current toons, we need a "battle bridge" crew. Aka two bridge crews that automatically switch on a pvp or pve engagement. OR all toons need to work universally in pvp or pve.

what I'd propose is a "battlegrounds" system, where you can swap your crew and get "free" repairs every 5 minutes while the ship is in the system. A ship in that system isn't considered "in standard game", thus the crews loaded in other ships are also available.
while in the "starbase dock" to repair, you can swap crews to go back out. The system (or range of systems) has a battle objectives, and you fight for control. Rewards are given both for PVP and battle objectives. Limit the rewards during a specific 24-hour period.
those that played WoW back in vanilla, this would be akin to the original Alterac Valley, but updated to have rewards you get as you go. Jump in and just fight for as long as you feel like.

agreed, compared to EverQuest, instances were pretty dang good from the start... mostly. Some raid instances would get bugged/crash, I remember having to do the "instance reset" thing more than once.
And yes, phasing was (and in some ways has been) a nightmare.

the vidar is a good all around ship in the mid-20s for those that get it early. It maxes out around 1mil I believe, and while it takes time to level, doesn't cost you a massive amount of crystal.
in that way you can almost skip the Kehra and leave all that uncommon crystal for the faction ships that will be hungry little hippos.

when Gregor and BigCountry were doing DJs podcast the other day they both said they kinda regretted building 28 Faction Ships and thought it might be better to skip them to save the mats/rss/faction credits for more important things
if you don't spend the faction credits on those ships, you get your faction miners sooner and can spend credits on recrutis, getting you transporter patterns faster
giving you Pike and/or Khan faster

Vi'Dar just costs less
and you want to Tier it up for the refinery anyway
so if you are gonna be tiering it regardless of if you get a Bortas/Sally, may be able to skip the Bortas/Sally

it's been that way every time the event has been run. corrupted data has far smaller nodes so it mines slower

Yeah decoded is more useful, especially now it can be used for Eclipse Directives. I guess you would only mine decoded for the augment credits to buy extra packs or something, but meh. I just keep a 5mil stockpile of decoded and that lasts me ages.

Then we will have latinum rush on Monday. 8 days of mining events, granted research the enemy could be done quickly assuming you had the time and willingness to actively mime data

Yea, but the restricted event is the only way to get heist loot. If you get left out it makes it difficult to even have a chance to unlock the higher officers. So again by the e of the event the pay to play will have what the average player could never earn.

I will say putting mudd2.0 along side the jelly event for 39 and below is demoralizing for the lower levels that don’t have the iss jelly event but have to compete against those players.

It means you're going to see people dumping crazy amounts into the event beyond what the Mudd event is probably worth. I think the jelly starts at 36, so if you see anyone 36+ in spending leaderboards the next couple of days you might see them pushing unusually hard.

I don't know about that.. I think I've finished all of the mission events now without paying extra, 100% positive about the previous arc that I finished the event without buying anything at all in fact. Doesn't mean that this one will be possible though.
