You can level up defense platforms, look strong but be terribly weak behind all that facade
We have an ops61 rogue that on paper is similar power to many ops60-61
Yet he runs around with a NSEA of 1.1B power, a 400m corvus and a bunch of survey ships. He has no g5 rare or epic ship
His crews are terrible, after 2 years he finally put some pvp crews on the bridge but he loses vs ops48 players
And his research/artifacts,... Are terrible too
And he's in a solo alliance so has none of the benefits a good alliance has
Plus he throws down 99.99 or sometimes multiple packs every time a specialty ship is released
Yet he lags behind f2p players in g4

Purples were always designed to require more pts than f2p could manage right now. When you unlock the ship, you get an additional task, and full completion of those dailies will get you up to the 2nd purple milestone. If you do everything + the paid bounty, you can finish the legendary milestone.
