a commonly recommended crew for early is pike (captain), moreau, and Chen. if you don't have Pike, I believe laforge is a common captain

Put every shred of energy you have into Pike, Moreau and Chen. Pike needs to be an unlock. Moreau needs to find her way to T3 by early G4 and Chen needs to be maxed like… yesterday.

Crew nomenclature and standards, unless someone needs pushed out of a top floor window the officer they list first is the captain and going in the middle seat.

So when someone says Pike, Moreau, Chen then they mean Pike as the captain.

Moreau always goes on the left because otherwise it just looks wrong but it makes no functional difference.

Yeah, the game knows it like that.

When you’re hitting interceptors and swarms (which is kinda a redundant qualifier but it still always gets used) you’ll want to use Pike, Moreau and T’Laan because what Chen does for energy weapons (the bulk of the damage that Exploders and Battleships do to you) T’Laan does for kinetic weapons (the bulk of the damage Interceptors do to you)

The exception that I know of that may be relevant to you still is your Vidar and Lv29 borg probes.

For the officers on the top, tiering them up is their benefit. Levelling them adds stats but you’re never going to add much in the way of stats to common and uncommon officers.

For the officers on bottom, levelling them is important because the epic officers carry your stats.

When you have two ships out hostile grinding you’ll end up with one ship carrying the three faction epics (Gorkon, Kirk, Nero) and one ship with Ghrush, eventually you’ll get Mavery and that can be a third ship with decent stats. In 2025’s game it’s rare that you’ll need more than those in terms of stats for your officers on most of your ships, except the Borg cube which is a hilariously bad pit of officer stat vacuum.
