How do we get the true ending?
they can, yeah, you need low-caliber weapon because of that, also aiming for feet/toes is your best bet, calves and thighs have 1.0x damage, foot has 0.2x, also a bit of save scumming is a must
I looted X-16, all of it, but I can't seem to get it
Loot Ghost body -> Get quest to meet Gudie on Cordon -> Follow that questline
I accidentally messed the order up, is it still fine?
I didn't seem to even get the quest to meet Guide
wdym messed the order up? guide quest should appear when you search ghost body, if you missed it you have to reload a save as gates to x16 will be closed for the second time you come in
I alr completed the normal endings for the game, so I am searching for the true one, can't seem to get it though
Really? I can still refight the lab, entering it and such, did my game bugged or something?
you CAN theoretically skip most of the questline with bug abuse but that's not recommended, how did you even miss ghost's body? did you not get the x16 docs?
I did, the files on the table of x16
That's X18.
how to make them pick up the weapon? I drop it but they don't pick it up
Is X16 the place where you turn off the brain sorcher?
No, that's X10/X19. X16 is the Yantar lab.
Yea the mobile lab
with the old guy and the ecologist
... that send you to the underground lab under the factory
yea that's the lab right?
with big brain in the middle and you need to turn off psy emitter
yea that's the one\
yes, that's the X16 lab. not Sakharov's mobile lab.
Did you get docs from there? They were on Ghost's body. Searching the body plays an audio recording and gives you a quest to find Guide.
Are you doing that to a pistol-only dude? Can you send a screenshot what he looks like?
the lab where it got bombarded by heli afterward right?
Yeah that's the one, but it's not the lab getting bombarded but the area around it
Well yea, but I dont think it appeared
yes, pistol-only, in the vehicle station
lol game crashed
can you send a save file so that i can try it myself and see?
can't say why that doesnt work without playing with it myself
Well regardless, can the game bugs that way?
Never heard of that partiuclar bug, can you check the message log for when you were last in X16?
It's been a while, lemme check
just the .sav file?
yep
He even walked over it but still didn't pick it up #📸┃screens_and_videos message
Do they register as a main quest?
there's no main quest / secondary quest distiction in soc
how would you address it then? I just call it however convinience it is
Just check your quest log? Is there a quest to meet with Guide/Doctor? If not, check your message log.
In your opinion. And it did look great in 2007, today not so much.
@late condor is it possible to heal wounded enemies?
many ppl hold wrong opinions, much like how some ppl think CoP is the best in the series
not in soc
it's possible in other stalkers?
You need to get to a loot box in pripyat, before going to the wish grant... The loot provides the key/code for the door to the side of the wish granter, go through that and continue to the end of the game.
Well, that's a lie. CoP is good, but not that good.
Don't you get to heal the guy at the top of the hill just before the bridge outside rookie village for starters, and I think I remember helping others elsewhere
I mean enemies
cs has a bug that allows you to talk to hostile npcs so you can heal them but wont again any relation from them
I don;t know... I just shot them in the head to stop them moaning...
@late condor is it possible to give better guns to rookies in the rookie village?
Yes but it needs to be same ammo type and higher ranked weapons
If you steal weapons from arena after completing all 7 fights you can use them to consistently give those to NPCs as long as it’s same ammo type
what do you mean "steal weapons from arena"?
They are technically unique weapons even though they are identical to regular ones so if you get them out with either console commands or bug abuse you can use them to give them to NPCs and eg force them to give up much better guns (including uniques)
Cause for whatever ungodly reason GSC gave those weapons highest weapon rank in the game
So a regular arena AKM is better than than Tunder 5.45 technically
Easiest way to steal them is opening demo_record 1, going under the map to find the arena, going to leftmost booth and finding a dynamite crate in there, smashing space while looking on it then doing demo_play 1 to get the camera near the crate and opening it, you can then take its contents
lol ok
the quest where Sid asks you for documents from the military checkpoint: he says there will be less guards at night, I went there at night and still had to kill 15 enemies
he even said "at night they only leave two guards" - lol
@late condor if I don't kill all the military after x18 do they just wander around the zone later?
yes, a-life in this game is notable for situations like those, it's interesting to see people you met before turn up somewhere else
because there's a lot of military guys walking around in the cordon now lol
alone and in groups
they keep appearing at the garbage-cordon entrance and stalkers are fighting them
I attack the check point with a pistol... Draw them upto rookie village, if I havent killed them all, get an AK, finish off the rest, I cleanse that base right out, IIRC, you can get documents that early too
I already had good gear when I decided to attack them, I didn't need to lure them out
Reason: Unspecified
I like to do it early to get gear, then kill the git at the bridge.... You wont money? I pay in lead
yeah, I was confused by it too.
what's funny though, you can do this mission without killing anyone or being noticed.
there's a fallen tree near the fence (to the far left of the main entrance, there's a minefield so you need to be careful) that you can use to climb over the fence.
then there is a bunch of concrete stuff that you can use to get into the inner yard where barracks is.
there's only one guy patrolling around it, and he walks clockwise.
it took me a few tries before I realized that I need to press both the crouch and the walk keys at the same time while inside (otherwise the sleeping ones could wake up).
after you steal the case, you can use stairs at the building next to the barracks, and jump outside the checkpoint.
just gotta be crouching all the way (+walking while inside the barracks)
There are surprisingly many things designed around stealth in soc considering that stealth barely works lol
exactly . I never did any stealth before, and was really surprised that it is possible.
felt like a sniper elite mission lol
that's what I did, unfortunately the guy who was sleeping has magically seen me through the window in his sleep and got when I was crossing the fence
https://youtu.be/il2MarnHWtE?list=PLbWdGbsBE9SlfSIgCuJHooZz8xCy-0s07
there's a vid explaining how stealth works, this dude completed almost entire game in stealth, even segments that were not meant for that
that's why they also designed the backup system: go in guns blazing
that's insane, dude figured out stealth in stalker
Reason: Bad word usage
@late condor it's possible to jump higher by throwing a weapon on the ground? https://youtu.be/jUqcnWK-4hg?si=YN6espzu1Kwgf19C&t=505
Never seen that being done before lol, there is a simple way to reach heights by climbing on top of a suit before jumping though, but this is next level
it's the version 1.000 tho
@late condor can I DM you?
I have pics from my playthru
That shows that it isnt showing the missions
Or tasks on my PDA
@late condor another 200 IQ jump https://youtu.be/GNiYtq1aAVw?si=grZ_0vi-ahhPiq88&t=211
at 4:25 he shows the gun throw jump again, but here it's against the fence, idk what game version he uses
I didnt know about that area in SoC but I checked in CS and made my way in to the base through the back. Should have dont that in SoC
You can send the save
I am 100% sure patches did not change something like physics lol, probably just takes some practice to get to do that
when I drop a weapon in 1.0006 it doesn't appear right in front of me like in the video
That slot also holds binoculars and is the reason why Petruha sometimes has a binoculars for sale and sometimes doesn’t. If any kind of food spawns in his inventory, it occupies the animation slot and you can buy the binoculars. If no food spawns, the animation slot stays empty and binoculars occupy it, making it impossible to buy it off.
Will giving him food make the binoculars appear in the inventory?
nope cause first item to enter the slot will occupy it, if food spawns naturally for him binoculars will appear, if it doesn't then no, only way to control that is start a new game
Is Gsc going to add nvg in game soon so we don't have to run around with this low ass flashlight?
you want nvg in shadow of chernobyl?
My bad Heart of Chernobyl I didn't read which group I was in sorry.

There are chances for each food item to spawn in inventory which is why not every NPC always has all the edible items.
If all of those rngs fail and he has no food then binoculars will go to that slot
If any food spawns, then binoculars will be visible and available for trading
what do you mean "has"? I thought the inventory I see when I loot a body isn't related to what NPC has when he's alive
You can open trade screen to see what the NPC actually has in their inventory. What they have on death is generated the moment they die, yes, and is related to game difficulty.
Oh, so there is night vision in SoC, although 1st gen NV is blurry as hell, kinda useless.
Greetings my fellow stalkers

how is everyone? ive been doing a lot of farming stalker soc
how are the crops in the Zone?
a lot of walking and constant saving
hello guys, have zrp, hd models adone and the owr3 installed but always when i shoot a weapon my game is crashing
can someone help me?
Can i see the log in #🔩┃trilogy_modifications ?
oh sorry i think i asked in the wrong channel
Would anyone like to come to Virginia and make a spinoff fan film to Stalker?
playing completely Vanilla SHOC for the first time since 2007. some things actually hold up better than i remember.
also making me once again wonder why Stalker 2 had such a short day/night cycle. in my first full day in SHOC i made it from Cordon to Rostok doing story missions and some side quests
one thing, were there always this many random artifacts scattered everywhere? in agroprom i found like 6 jellyfish all in the same area
damn
there was yes they were out in the open vs how CS and COP did them
is that a bug ? i don't remember artifacts all over the damn place
they are everywhere
thats normal
breaks the econoamy a little bit. i was hauling around all these guns to sell, but instead there is just "free money" littered all over the place
i mean this is an arcade fps lol
Playing SoC for an entire year (game time) before entering Pripyat for the first time (Part 1)
Playing SoC for an entire year (game time) before entering Pripyat for the first time (Part 2)
The legend. glad to see your'e still STALKING
@karmic horizon what do you think of STALKER 2 as perhaps the most OG trilogy player?
I absolutely love it. it is far more and better than I was expecting.
makes me happy to hear. i feel the same, though i played a little too much too quick. beat it, and now replaying the trilogy while waiting for patches
Sidorovich told you to murder around 100 people LOL
137 defenses of the stalkers' camp in Garbage, it was a good decision to give up after the 2nd raid because I knew otherwise this would never end
how long did this take in real life time?
is it bad i sold all my guns and ammo just to get a merc suit?
There is a free one in rookie village 😉
have you tried uninstalling the mods
Really? S2 left me insanely disappointed compared to OG trilogy.
Especially with how they handled the lore & geography.
I tempered my expectations and still ended up getting a worse product that I thought it would be.
what did they do to geography?
Tried to make it fit real zone and broke existing events in the process to the point where they could not have happened on the new map
It’s familiar locations slapped onto an entirely new map of the zone
like what events
Like Krug antenna complex which was infested with bloodsuckers in CoP is now kilometers away from Skadovsk, meaning it could not have been a threat to its members, Brain Scorcher is now located on the east of the Zone instead of on the north and is not blocking way to Pripyat anymore, and Pripyat is now located in a way where Limansk could not have been an alt way to CNPP, and many more
I think changing the geography in an established world is already a spit in the face of the fans but changing it in a way where that retcon just defies the logic of past games is even worse.
yeah but the geography is now real life correct?
Not really, real life does not have Cordon, Rostok and many other signature stalker locations. Dark valley factory is on the west of Ukraine and Red Forest Forester building is in Germany.
S2 still has all of those locations made up for the game, just that stuff like Pripyat and other real places are more accurately located
But I think it’s insensitive to make changes this significant with the fourth franchise entry. Do a reboot if you want to set the game in a real world geography.
So does S2 reference events from past games like the brain scorcher?
and how it was in the way of CNPP?
It has the scorcher so the implication is that you visit the familiar location but I don’t remember any text mentions. Not sure if they are needed considering you can just look at the map and see for yourself.
Krug thing and Degtyarev clearing it is mentioned, despite no longer being possible on the new map xD
lol
That didn't bother me at all. I appreciated how huge and seamless the new map was . I do want to go to the CNPP tho
why theres lot of cookies here?
You don't actually have to murder any of them. I would find them and just hang out with them, until we were attacked by mutants, military or bandits and then I would get credit for their death.
so they didn't survive 24 hour in-game hours?
Pretty much this would automatically get triggered, when passing through Garbage going in either direction. It helped me with free ammo from looting and weapons to sell for money.
how much money did you end up with?
I guess I should have included the screenshot showing my money. Here's one from the video of the same.
can you link the video?
Standing on the road going north in the Red Forest. One year ago at this exact time, I got the task to kill Strelok from Sidorovich. Now it was time to take my quest further north and enter the city of Pripyat.
but the video is from 9 years ago, I thought you did this recently
I'm playing Stalker 2 right now. The screenshots just appeared in my FB memories yesterday, so I thought I would share it here.
Apparently about 876 hours. 365 days x 24 hours = 8,760. 1 hour of real time is 10 hours in game, so 8,760 hours divide by 10 = 876 hours of real time.
@karmic horizon have you ever encountered enemies in Rostok? I mean the Bar/Duty area
Yes, especially since I know how to make that happen.
how to make that happen?
It depends. What enemy do you want?
Bloodsuckers
make it a faction then
You only get two choices. Mercs or Military. Military is easier. After you do X-19 and wipe out all the Military leaving, don't go to Pripyat. Instead rush back to Rostok as quickly as possible and wait. The Military respawns coming from the south, will be passing through Rostok. Normally they would be off-line and you would never see them but being in Rostok forces them to go online. However, you can't kill them without violating Duty's rules. You would have to depend on others to kill them.
I saw 2 mercs walk into Rostok from Wild Territory and get shot by Duty
After the Mercs attack the Rookie Village, where Fanatic gives you the job, there are about 3 days where you will randomly run into Mercs in the Cordon, Garbage and sometimes Rostok. It's really random where they appear so you have to travel a lot in the southern Zone to run into them. After 3 days it stops. You can also wipe out the Mercs in the WT and AW, and sometimes catch the respawns passing through northern Rostok, but it's more difficult, as you are forcing them to go online.
I mean from Army Warehouses*
Most NPCs and mutants travel around Rostok on the green dotted line, that's why they are so rare to catch there. However you can go outside the red area (player only area) to meet them.
I did the Rookie Village defense quest but rookies instead of hiding just stood there, when Mercs came they weren't hiding at all so the shootout started already at the outskirts of the village. Once I killed every Merc only then they got in their hiding spots and now they are permanently hiding.
Yes, it happened to me one game, where the RV Loners never got out of their hiding mode. Tolik was in the basement for the rest of the game.
If you wipe out all the Mercs in the AW, you can meet their respawns coming back into the AW, in the WT, Rostok and it's Twilight Zone (those areas of the game where the Player doesn't get to go).
any way to fix it?
Not that I'm aware of. I didn't really try, as it made it easier to get the Military to attack the RV and the Loners were ready for an attack.
the military from the outpost?
This is why SoC is the best game of the trilogy. It's the only one where respawns travel through multiple levels to get to their destination. For example, if you kill all the Military and/or bandits in the Cordon, you can expect their respawns to travel from Garbage into the Cordon at the Northern Checkpoint. You can then pick any location in the Cordon to ambush them by making them go from off-line to online by your presence. Being able to do that gives you so much variety for gunfights, making it different every time.
I didn't realize it was this in depth
You would be amazed at what you can get SoC to do for you without Mods.
I really need to do a pure vanilla run
It's a very special game. Still my favorite in the series
I killed all military in the cordon, does that mean now they will spawn over at Garbage?
Mercs I killed that were respawns for the AW. It's white because once December hit, I added a tiny snow mod that did not change the game play.
They come from the Agroprom, travel through Garbage to get to the Cordon.
NPCs seem to travel slightly faster in off-line mode than online. Not a whole lot faster but a little.
what if I kill all military in Agroprom?
The Military will use the Electro tunnel to go south in the Cordon. Off-line mode that are unharmed. Make them go online as they pass through the tunnel, they get electrocuted.
They come from Garbage, just like the Bandits, if you remain in the Agroprom.
so it's a whack-a-mole game?
It can be somewhat. It sure beats CS & CoP, where it is more spawn-on-demand to the various locations.
This principal works for Yantar too. Kill all the zombies, snorks and Controller and the respawns have to travel to get there. You can meet them at the entrance.
zombies in exos?
@karmic horizon btw is there a way to jump through the fence around Cordon?
Can't believe I'm asking but is there no artifact detector in ShOC? I havent played in so long but I'm headed to yantar with no detector
there is no mechanic for such in SOC

No they just spawn on the ground
or in boxes
Dude I remember reading your Yantar logs back in like 2007/8 testing the A-Life there on the GSC forums.
super easy to farm. once you get good rad protection you can just do loops around Garbage
In hindsight, my respect for clear sky is growing. I remember thinking it felt too "shooter-ey" on release but it added some good mechanics and crazy gfx
I used to feel the same. now my only real complaint is that the atmosphere is a little too lighthearted and on the corny side, imo.
Like the faction base and combat music specifically are a little much.
But gameplay wise its great.
No. About half the levels in SoC, don't have ways (that I have found) to get into the non-player areas. The Cordon is one of them.
No artifact detector is needed since all artifacts are visible without one.
Yep. 17 years has passed in the blink of an eye.
You can disable the combat music in the game menu. Originally it played by default in Clear Sky in 2008, but so many people complained, it became a toggle through a patch.
i havent got to that point on my new playthrough but all of the faction wars/a-life just seems tedious. too much going on.
from the start, there was always the original STALKER experience, and then what the players tried to add to it. more freedom, weapons, missions etc. it always seems like GSC was tryign to listen to this and incorporate it but always felt a little short. Clear Sky had more action, but perhaps too much. COP had more open world, but it was sort of empty. Honestly i was pleased with STALKER 2, where the "original" formula felt the same, but with better GFX and just a LOT more of it.
You are not a lore person I guess. For me a coherent world is important, and stalker 2 ruined that.
a lot more of it
The game has like 20 side quests outside main storyline lol, it’s a huge empty world. By the time you leave Lesser Zone you’ve seen a fifth of game’s side content.
I thought Stalker 2 is empty
what's the mod name?
What about stalker 2 makes the world incoherent?
I never thought that the original map locations were supposed to be literal, as we don’t see all the space between them. I was under the impression that things like the Brain scorcher were in the way of the safe paths made by guides, rather than being directly connected
It retcons alot of things in the trilogy
I haven't looked into it as I don't wanna spoil it but from users and mods who played they say some events are different
Doesn’t every one of the games do a retcon though? Like scar isn’t there to shoot at you in SOC, and neither are clear sky, or the artifact detectors
These are like major retcons
@naive hollow Ayo maybe you can help with the retcon changes
An entire chase sequence that you never play in the original game is a major retcon. Half of STALKER’s worldbuilding was unfinished anyways
Stalker 2 is essentially a reboot
Major plot things didn't happen/changed dramatically
One can always just play the originals and ignore it
Clear Sky happens before soc
I guess the way I think about it is that most of the same events happened in the timeline of S2, but some of them have happened in a different way to how they played out in the original games
Yeah right, that was a stupid example on my part
the silly
If you're curious about the retcons I'd ask in #☢┃stalker-general as I have been trying to avoid spoilers
I still think that the trilogy was vague enough that STALKER 2 doesn’t bother me. The original wasn’t “realistic” or a melodrama, so it could never be the same to begin with.
Try imagining all the corny writing from Clear Sky in S2, it just doesn’t quite fit. I personally thought that it being STALKER 2 instead of a spin-off made it clear what kind of game it was going to be
i dream that one day I can have a pc which can run stalker 2 so I dont have to avoid everything stalker related in fear of spoilers
There are a few retcons that did bother me some, but for the most part I just engaged with the new game on its own terms
??? SoC is a different time period than CS, you’re observing different trips to the center lol.
Artifact detectors are explained in CS dialogues as blowout changed their properties.
It is not about direct connection. New brain scorcher position’s closest locations are Yantar and Red Forest which were not under psi emissions in past games and locations that were actually blocked off because of brain scorcher before are on separate ends of the map, Zaton being the worst offender but none of them making any sense anymore.
Everything. Try to draw any path of side quest or existing character on the new game map and none of it will make sense.
Brother idk how to discuss this with you if you are missing plot points that big. CS is set in 2011. You find aftermath of CS events in SoC, with Ghost mentioning “a merc with a scar” in Strelok’s hideout stash. It’s a prequel, not SoC’s story from a different angle.
The world had some minor inconsistencies, not gonna argue about that but none were ever of S2 sheer scale and importance.
Not really, I haven't played the game, but yeah, I did notice retcons. Didn't really remember nor did I write it down
Америка сильна, мои Сталкеры
Winter Mod (2007)
@everyone y'all wanna watch Stalker (1979)?
Yeah my mention of scar was really stupid, disregard it as such.
This scarred merc is not Scar, he was allegedly planned to be, but the mystery merc is not Scar.
I’m not a Stalker lore expert so I could very well be missing things. I quite like Stalker 2, I’m sorry that it has disappointed you.
As a Halo and Star Wars fan I know what it’s like to see a world you love be overwritten
I noticed that when I was playing. I was sneaking up to a camp at night, wasn't seen OR heard. But once I got within a certain range, battle music started, basically. I wasn't even in combat.
That broke the whole feeling of stealthily moving around all quiet like. So I turned it off straight away. Couldn't understand why it was even there, it just takes away from every engagement and changes the atmosphere of the game
I thought we were talking about the bandit meme radio
why is every single enemy after turning off brain scorcher killing me in 1-2 shots, and shooting me through walls? this is unplayable now, i can't escape the lab
You can always lower difficulty if you feel the game is too hard for you, what’s your suit and what’s its condition?
i lowered it to novice and im getting 1-2 shot, the enemy ai is really aggressive, suit is in bad condition
You can always return to AW/Rostok after turning off the scorcher to restock and rearm if needed
At least until you exit Pripyat for CNPP
actually my suit is completely broken
but it doesnt matter because enemies take a full clip to kill
i can't run away from them either. i think im going to have to quit the game completely and just watch a playthrough on YT
aim for the head
dont give up you're so close
also my weapon jams every 5 seconds now
it NEVER did that before i turned off the scorcher
i think what i can do is download a save file from someone else in the lab
since i really don't care about my progress, im just interested in the story
what gun do you have? go for headshots only
if your weapon jams, there should be plenty of weapons from dead enemies lying around
Headshots. Veteran NPCs don’t mess around
You also need to prioritize headshots yourself. Save after each kill
i was playing on the xbox, so their AI was too fast for me to react with a controller. i downloaded the game on steam, downloaded a save from the lab. he had the same AR as me, but had 50x medkits and looks like an exo suit. anyway, i headshotted everyone easily with the mouse and now im in pripyat.
im not playing clear sky and CoP on xbox. i learned my lesson
Pc editions are way better than console ports anyway
You can actually hold a grenade before throwing, no cringe UI and no censorship
Have fun and if you have a chance go for CS and CoP with legacy editions as well.
and for whatever reason, they force depth of field when aiming on xbox
That’s new huh, might be something from October patch. It’s a back ported feature, it always existed in CS and CoP but guess they put it into SoC as well.
That makes sense. I was curious about how the combat was balanced on console, sounds like what I expected
@karmic horizon do you study the game's source code or is all your knowledge based on experience?
He just played a shit ton
He’s also a bigger ZRP hater than I am lol these two guys had literal fights on old GSC forums
is the ZRP creator still active in the community?
Yeah he’s active on Reddit, https://reddit.com/u/NatVak. He knows a lot about the game even if many of his fixes are controversial, I tend to ask him technical questions about how certain things work or why certain things happen.
did he ever answer why did he decide his arbitrary changes like 3 day quest time limit were good?
Things like 3 days quest stuff is optional so you can easily go back to vanilla values with the configuration patch, he explained his initial reasoning behind some of the changes in the text and admitted most of them are unnecessary but but I do not know whether he went back to vanilla values
yeah but no one playing SoC for the first with ZRP is not gonna do that so it's a moot point
Experience. Time spent. Paying attention. Noticing things like cause and effect.
i finally finished the game, even though NPP was the most gruesome tedious thing ever. Can somebody tell me if Im correct:
||- C-C seem to be trying to reverse their mistake (the zone / the crack in the noosphere) but outside interference is hindering them (hence mind controlling them, tricking them with wish granter trap, etc.)
-
humanoid mutants like bloodsuckers and poltergeists are experiments made in one of many labs that escaped before or after the zone
-
wish granter is a mind control machine, created by the C-C to trick and ultimately kill or cripple those who reach it
-
I dont really understand the noosphere. can it be described as an invisible field of energy linked to the minds of all of the living beings on earth, both directly affecting each other. if it is invisible through normal scientific instruments, is it just something existing in a higher dimension? it's the only way i can understand how it can form anomalies like the whirliwig that defy the laws of physics, or artifacts that give you power.||
Also, is the lore of the first game further explained if I play clear sky and pripyat. it doesnt seem like they give you all the pieces of the lore in this game
playing vanilla. i keep getting this "line-ey" texture that flickers when i move on various surfaces. any idea how to remove this?

About to head to brain scorcher. Should I buy exoskeleton? Or wait?
In my opinion, you shouldn't buy suits in Shadow of Chernobyl. There are plenty of them scattered around that you can find without even trying too hard. There are two Monolith suits in Red Forest, where the Brain Scorcher is. They will serve you well there. In Pripyat, in Strelok's stash that you have to find (hopefully, you've talked to Doc in Agroprom underground), you'll find a SKAT9 suit, which has the second best armor rating in the game. That one will easily carry you through Pripyat and the outside of CNPP, before entering the Sarcophagus. Pripyat is quite straightforward and short. Lingering around won't give you much in return and will just degrade your weapons and armor. If you found Fang's stash coordinates, you'll find an Exoskeleton with second generation nightvision in Pripyat, which is very helpful in the Sarcophagus level, as that one is very dark. If you didn't get the coordinates and you still have the SSP-99M suit from Shakarov, use that one in Sarcophagus because it also has 2nd gen nightvision, and that one is a game changer in that dark level. You'll find two exoskeletons in the Sarcophagus if you look carefully around the rooms. Once you're back outside, on the roofs of the buildings around the CNPP, you'll find two more exoskeletons and at least one more SKAT9 suit. Long story short, don't buy suits from traders. Buy armor piercing ammo and a good assault rifle, like the GP37, for example, if you have the money.
Excellent reply, thank you. I ended up getting the seva suit from the find the family rifle mission and will use that until I get an exo in Pripyat.
Long time since I played this game but I assumed you could just find an exo somewhere. Haven't played this vanilla since probably 2008. I don't keep bringing that up as a brag, I'm just having a lot of fun with it and am surprised by how well it holds up.
I remember the gunplay feeling clunkier but I think that's more true of the early game.
SEVA also has 2nd gen nightvision, so if you have another suit to spare until Sarcophagus, keep the SEVA for that level. It's really dark and the Monolithians are not so easy to spot in dark corridors.
Clear Sky is a prequel and gives good insight to the Zone in general and Strelok's motives, while Call of Pripyat is a sequel that expands the story of Shadow of Chernobyl, with plenty of more details.
Is there really anything to spend money on in ShOC? I racked up about 250k. The weapons you can just find in good condition and apparently suits too
AP ammo to make your life easier when you start fighting Monolithians and basically different weapons to have as back-up and to experiment.
Also, make sure to grab a Gauss rifle from one of the Monolith soldiers you kill in the Sarcophagus or the Monolith Control Center. It will serve you well when you get to the final section, on the CNPP rooftops. Theoretically, you could get one in Pripyat, but snipers with Guass rifles are placed on high buildings and the weapon is not guaranteed to drop from up there. Even if it does, the impact will typically cause significant damage to the gun. Another thing to consider when you leave the Brain Scorcher and move on to Pripyat is to have a weapon with a scope. Enemies are usually at a distance and often hidden behind windows.
how many entries do you have under "Render" in the options menu?
- We don’t know if C-Con rep is telling the truth or not. The whole choice of whether you join or destroy them is essentially a choice on player’s side on whether you believe they’re actually going to fix this.
- We do not know for sure but that is the common consensus. Labs certainly experimented on animals and people and created mutants, but which mutants are results of experiments and which are natural Zone mutations is mostly up to interpretation.
- Not a mind control machine but psy emitter, it literally fries your brain and turns you into a zombie.
- It’s not an energy field at all it’s an informational field. It’s a real theoretical concept btw you can look it up, it’s not purely a part of the game’s lore.
They are explained in bits and pieces. The trilogy never gives you a complete picture and leaves many areas up to interpretation.
Can you send your appdata/user.ltx from game’s folder?
- static, options, FDR
change it to the middle one
It’s a user.ltx issue, not a settings one.
i'll DM you the ltx
what's the issue exactly?
Should be one of the sun console command settings having a wrong value, most shadow artifacts are a result of that.
Though weirdly I can't replicate it with this dude's user.ltx, hm.
I don't understand why does Barman give out rewards for defending the Depot in the Garbage?
Someone's got to
Thanks. ||So it's an informational field that if manipulated can potentially manipulate the minds of all living things on Earth. What I don't understand is how they manipulated it and it created a "crack" (whatever the hell that means) and all these anomalies and emissions/blowouts come out of that crack if it's just an informational field and not something physical in spacetime. But I assume this is something they don't explain.|| Anyway, I'm going to start Clear Sky now on PC.
is there a mod for shadow of chernobyl for consistency purposes that changes the ingame weapons textures to those found in the sequels? it feels wrong that the pb and makaron look modern but then look older in the sequels
Sakharov asked me to bring him a snork's body part, problem is snorks don't drop anything even with the quest.
ok, snorks started dropping parts after I failed the quest, great lol
@karmic horizon have you ever done a "no flashlight" run?
wait, so the timer in x16 resets on save load?
It resets if you leave the psy area and come back, quite easy to cheese
20% chance, whether you have a quest or not is irrelevant
wtf, I thought it doesn't appear without a quest
Some body parts (e.g. blind dog tails) have no associated quest yet they appear on mutants. :P
what about flesh's eye?
Doesn't barkeep offer a flesh eye job?
Flesh eyejob
Barkeep and Sakharov
To open some quests you need to complete previous ones, there are never two quests of the same type offered by same questgiver at the same time
For that reason you won't get auto-quests if you have a quest from that quest giver already provided they're the same type
e.g. if you have a quest to kill stalker novice or trade rep when you first arrive at garbage you won't get a quest to kill bandit leader Vasya Boar
I mean if fleshes drop eyes without a quest
Yeah they will
yes
🤯
that's already better than Stalker 2!
in one of many ways yes
I think this is what they got ass-backward in SoC. It should be that unique armors are only available to buy while regular armors can be just lying around.
As it is there is no point in saving up for an armor.
No money is kinda pointless in SoC if you know what you are doing at all
I guess that is one more reason for them to have added repairs and upgrades in later games
just got to pripyat. i remember playing this for the first time in 2007. i did not prepare well and by the time i got to the CNPP, my suit was shredded and i had no like no ammo, meds, or anti rads
it's a real journey once you leave rostok for the red forest and then onto pripyat and cnpp. feels much more significant than anything in COP
Soc has different game design behind it. You are supposed to change guns and suits instead of repairing them.
Yeah. It's just that without the money sink you just end up accumulating it and never having to spend it. Your weapons and armor will degrade, but you will find upgrades before that happens
That said I don't really mind it. I guess it leaves the option to buy weapons or supplies if you miss them in the world.
I think the issue is more with how suits are all around the map and you never have to buy one than with uniques in particular
yeah i wouldn't mind having that Fang Stash exo to save up for. i have all this money and nothing to spend it on
Nah I don’t refer to uniques, just suits in general
Eg Sid has a merc suit for cheaper price than after you do the vehicle station quest. Implying you can save up a bit and buy it for 12K instead of 24K if you gather that much money before the first quest
The problem? Free merc suit in rookie village. 0 incentive to buy it if you played the game before.
This works with tunder 5.45 but the suits are too widespread, they are everywhere
That being said, there was a dude in this channel who managed to fully break his and get stuck in X10 so I guess I understand what’s the mentality behind it
why the hell is it more expensive after the vehicle station quest?
So that you have incentive to get money for it in early game. Same reason why Tunder 5.45 is unavailable after that quest
but it's literally the first quest in the game, it's the first thing all players do
btw ammo on the tower over at vehicle cemetery at Garbage has 9x19 PB1s ammo in vanilla, I think in ZRP it's changed to 9x18
Weird af change lol
Yeah that’s why it’s sort of a secret I guess. If you go out of your way to farm that much money before finishing first quest you can get the best gun for foreseeable future.
And you could get a cheap suit as well, if only that suit was not given to you for free 20 meters further.
with no ammo for it
I saved right before the dream sequence. I died after the dream sequence, loaded the save and suddenly got 4 minutes again.
5.45 is easy to come by with all the army in cordon and Agroprom
oh, it's the special variant that uses AK ammo
Mercs have it too sometimes
where to get more grenades for the grenade launcher?
Yeah but by the time you get to Bar you can get a free one from Barin by giving him an arena AKM
Oh btw my SoC run is even more difficult now because I attacked freedom too early with skull and it was a complete disaster.....
Now when i was supposed to help the anarchists against the monolith i couldn't because yknow... I attacked frees a bit early. but it was kind of easy?
Yea i didn't fight the monolith which is more difficult.
And I had exoskeletons and best guns of the game so yea i surpassed them.
I got the special tunder but the ammo is too expensive.
Yea I'm also a cheapskate in games lol so i sold it
Wait no
It wasn't that...
Yea it wasn't a tunder it was a obokan
I got it from some bandits
You sold the storming obokan?
The Fast Shooting AKM is a very good gun and can last until and included Red Forest, if you are not trigger happy and control your shots. Even so, the accuracy will drop noticeably at a distance once the bar reaches three quarters. In close quarters, though, it still melts enemies.
I found a way to repair just this week lol
Can only do it twice consistently though
The weapon? I thought you could only repair suits in certain anomalies.
You can repair weapons by giving them to NPCs and then killing or injuring them, latter giving guns in better condition
That's very cruel, dude. 🙂
Not all NPCs will accept it, you either need to find NPC with just a pistol or with same caliber gun but worse rank
However they won’t pick up that particular gun cause it’s marked not useful for NPC
So you can sell it to Skinflint/Petrenko and then kill them to get the gun back
Since they are traders themselves, can't you buy it back from them but in pristine condition?
Killing Skinflint or Petrenko will, most likely, turn the whole Freedom or Duty base against you, so the weapon will degrade immediately.
no way it can last until Red Forest, I already had it at 80% before even reaching Yantar and it was jamming a lot
that doesn't repair the weapon
you can use an exploding barrel to bypass that
also you can buy GP-37 after lab x16, you'd have to hate yourself to not wanna use GP-37 😄
I used it from Agroprom Undeground to Red Forest and Brain Scorcher mission. I only shoot in very short bursts. It held up very well. I also had a SGI-5k and a Dragunov for those long shots. Barkeep just didn't have a GP-37 in his inventory on my last run, for whatever reason, so I only managed to find one in lab X19 and used it up until the Sarcophagus, when I got the FT200M.
I'm not bullshitting. The Fast Shooting AKM carried me for more than half of the game on my last playthrough. Yeah, if you go full auto with it, it will become unusable quickly.
well, it is fast shooting AKM 😄
Yeah, but it's only worth shooting fast in close quarters, anyway.
Usually, the GP-37 is my go-to weapon after Yantar, but I simply got very unlucky with Barkeep's trading options this time around.
yeah, he had it immediately after I got back from the Yantar lab
that and the best armor, but I still need 20k more to buy it
I was constantly hunting for the GP-37 after Yantar, hoping it will drop from some dead Freedom members or Monolithians that are stationed right near the Red Forest gateway. I only managed to find it in Lab X19. I bought the SGI-5K, but it sucks you can't attach a SUSAT scope to it.
Which is? The Exoskeleton or the SKAT-9M?
he has both, but I'm planning to get SKAT this time, I'm tired of not being able to sprint in exo
you can get an SGI with a scope from the guards at the freedom entrance base, just need to kill them with an explosive barrel
I know, but I tend to avoid unnecessary killings. Personal choice.
The Exoskeleton only truly shines from Sarcophagus up until the very end. You don't need to run there, anyway.
Your guns work better on Master difficulty
lmao yeah that's true, except maybe on the rooftops at the end where you have to run from teleport to teleport
this was debunked
Makarov shoot better on Master
Fang's Exoskeleton has 2nd nightvision device, which is very, very helpul during the Sarcophagus and Monolith Control Center levels. Sadly, the dead loner body in the tunnels below X16 didn't provide the coordinates on my last playthrough and there were no more dead loners to be found in Yantar for a long while, so I abandoned the idea.
This was an urban myth. Here, for reference:
I know :(
I lie to myself to make the first couple of hours bearable when I replay SoC
really? I haven't used night vision on my first playthrough because I didn't know there even was one, once I tried it I realized how bad it is, they only fixed it later in CS
So inaccurate for me
That's because the normal Exoskeleton and the SKAT-9M have 1st generation, which is green and very blurry.
Fang's Exoskeleton, SEVA and SSP-9M suit have 2nd generation nightvision, which is blue and very clear.
That's why I keep the SSP-9M suit for the Sarcophagus level in case I can't find Fang's Exoskeleton.
You probably abused it.
I don't mind green and blurry, I mind how it doesn't even make dark things lighter lol
then again, SoC doesn't really have 100% dark areas except for labs
I know. If you can't find Fang's Exo, just keep a SEVA or a SSP-9M for Sarcophagus. Yes, no 100% pitch black, but being able to see the Monolithians with Gauss guns in the Sarcophagus before they shred you does help...
I have SSP-9M
I'm going to x18 to check how it works
You'll like it.
How far down does the meter half to go before you can't hit the broad side of a barn? I don't think I took it below 80%
Man, I don't do real life tests like that. The point is, with a PSO scope, I was still popping heads reliably at no more than 100 m. At long range, just find a SVD.
I checked it and yeah, it's alright
Any loner corpse in Yantar can give Fang's stash. So the loners at the bonfire near the bus after you're done in Yantar can provide it as well
I've read about it, but I couldn't find it. I even killed one or two who were, for some reason, rolling in some Duty squads, but the stash coordinates didn't show up. I think the mistake I made is that I didn't check the loner corpse you run into the moment you're getting out of X16, so I had to go back and check, but it didn't provide the coordinates.
It's not common, no. But you can get it by savescumming. Save before looting a corpse and reload till it drops the stash you want
I did that too for 10 or 12 times, but afterwards I stopped since I was afraid not to botch my game. Paranoia, probably.
that seems extremely tedious
Hmm, never had savescumming foul up my entire game. But samplesize 1 ofcourse
Yeah I specialize in cruel and unusual work-arounds.
I'm about the question "Is it possible?", not "Is it practical?(or even remotely sensible)"
Is it possible to beat the game without any armor, only with the PMm, on Master difficulty, without speedrunning? Yes. Is it practical? Who cares?!
Kira does it with only the knife, so yes
Nah, it doesn't count. He used suits. Just kidding. Torture 101.
@rotund saddle, #📸┃trilogy-screenshots message
why is Wild Territory always full of enemies, ffs
you can only explore it once, after that EVERYTHING spawns again but more
raise a shot of vodka (or two) to lyova vacuum. he was murdered in cold blood by several highly armed bandits. at the base several loners with the help of the marked one cleared out hours earlier
"What are you, deaf? What are you here?"
Nope, they won’t sell what they have equipped
And besides only death or injury does the repair, not the weapon being in NPCs inventory
that's a funny sentence
That’s stalker for ya
There is a bug/exploit where zombified stalkers can repair weapons
Or so I've read, haven't tried it yet
Any NPCs can, not just zombified
Ah right, zombified are just conveniently easy to incapacitate
Yes but some weapons, such as Fast-shooting AKM, won't be picked up by NPCs naturally so you have to sell it to them.
Which limits your options as zombified are no longer a possible way to do it.
Sell weapons? Are unique weapons exempt from the general rule?
No, which is why you have only 2 guaranteed options (Skinflint and Petrenko) and any NPC that happens to be bugged with his trade restrictions disabled.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44ro9XWpC5M
which can happen naturally (although very rare)
sell weapon to a zombie? 😄
But there are also guaranteed ways to force them into that panic state as well
the very next sentence man, come on
LOL
this is hilarious
so it's enough I shoot at a wall?
per author's comment:
you approach unnoticed and talk (but not with everyone), if they are aggroed on the main character - then the conversation will not work... it is easier with those who do not have a flashlight and if they are in the dark
gonna try this later
does it only work on enemy NPCs?
yes
you need to copy his movements with stealth jumping, otherwise they will hear your steps
but yeah this' dude's channel is something else, he managed to unlock Duty base before X16
I thought you can unlock it at the start of the game with the knife, it's what speedrunners do
yeah I watched a stealth tutorial earlier 👍
I meant to going to Bar but specifically the Voronin bunker
ah ok
In this vid he later also forces the trade restriction lifting by aggroing a loner without aggroing dutiers and then reloading a save while those dutiers are in a panic state.
The Monolith expert was angry at you for selling him a SPSA and a Walker. 😄
Best suit in Shadow of Chernobyl:
Have you ever gotten a harmonica?
Do you not see it in my inventory?
Hey I’m getting constant psi damage. It’s killing me and I’m out of blockers and meds wth do I do
whaaat, how?
Fellow obokan enjoyer
How what? Be more specific.
is it the tourist suit?
All the STATS of the Tourist Suit as shown, without artifacts applied.
yeah, I got it from Sid recently
but I sold it, where do you find mama's beads?
Which of the 4 are you asking about?
come on, do it
I see two artifacts there is only one of
is it possible to move bodies with loot between locations?
specifically from wild territory to Bar
@late condor what are the rules for artifact spawns in SoC?
you still can't sprint with 70 kilos of gear
An Exo with the same 70kg limit can NEVER sprint no matter how small the load.
at least it gives decent protection
turns out SKAT armor isn't so great, 12 kgs is really too much
also crappy radiation protection it turns out
SSP-99M is my fav
yeah now I realized it's the best, unfortunately I sold it 😭
now I'm reading the wiki if there's an other way to get it
why does it say on the wiki that Beril armor costs 12 000 but when I try to buy one from Barkeep he wants 48 000?
- Don’t rely on English wiki, machine translate the Russian one for more accurate info if you can
- It does indeed cost 12K but barkeep offers it for 4x base price (as per this article fully listing Barkeep’s trade list: https://stalker.fandom.com/ru/wiki/Бармен/Торговля)
I checked the Russian wiki, the cost was the same on it
lol ok, I had no idea Barkeep sells the items at 4 times the price
Some items, yeah it’s color coded in trade pages which are more expensive compared to their base price
is it possible to split ammo into chunks that are less than 10 rounds? because when I sell it seems like the price for 3 bullets is the same as for 10 bullets
Yes it is possible by reloading and putting excess ammo into container but it’s not worth your time investment xd
A single pack of ammo may have any number of bullets but it will always sell for full price
sounds like it's THE way to get Tunder before the first mission
Raiding an army outpost and Kuznetsov squad and selling their AKMs feels faster to me.
raiding it with a pistol?
I mean yeah
Can also sell the merc suit and bandit suit from elevator
It is certainly more fun than splitting ammo xd
it's more fun to screw Sidor over
Just find the Healing Berill in Yantar. Very good suit for mid-game.
I sold it because I damaged it
That means you still used it for a while. Naturally you'd sell it when its stats degrade too much.
It's interesting how, lore-wise, of course, Monolithians still shoot you on sight when you're wearing a Monolith suit. I know that's not how the game works, but it's a bit weird. Then again, wearing a Duty armor to Army Warehouses only to be gunned down be Freeedom would not go very well, so I understand the reasoning behind the first "issue".
yeah the first time I played I thought I'm gonna get shot if I wear opposing faction's armor
this is what happens in Fallout 2, you can access certain places only in certain armor
If only it worked lol
Literally same as regular Berill (yes even if you use ZRP cause engine bug)
https://www.goldennumber.net/wp-content/uploads/pepsi-arnell-021109.pdf here are some classified documents
and what does it have to do with SoC?
so what's the meme exactly?
isnt SoC a sequel to Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat?
Timeline goes CS > SOC > COP > HOC
sooo... CSSOCCOPHOC
read that out loud
can be shortened to CHOCOPHOC
Yo I’m on Xbox and pretty frequently when I try to load soc it fully crashes/restarts my Xbox does anyone know how to fix that?
You can’t fix that yourself, report a bug in #1215013259740979320
I thought it’s “which game is better” and it honestly fit
what should I do with the rubles that I have
because I feel like ive been getting what I need naturaly from quest or loot
Could buy an exoskeleton before going to red forest
It'll last
cool
There are plenty of other suits on the way, including multiple exoskeletons and military armored suits from Pripyat and onward.
If I were you, I'd buy at least two weapons in perfect condition. You'll need them.
noted.
plus make sure you have visited guide in the cordon
Exactly. Fox, Mole, Guide and Doctor.
Was relying on memory and totally forgot all the stuff you have to do for the real endgame. Thankfully the gauze gun trick still works
Been there
RIP Fox
Fly high,brother
He always dies to dogs in all of my games. Sometimes I come back from Agroprom and, if he's alive, I stay for a while and protect him, but he still dies later on. Guide is more durable, I think.
When I saw the grey dot I got upset
I attacked Freedom's base with Skull and as it turns out it doesn't stop Freedom members from spawning. So now the base is still filled with Freedom guys except they all hate me, LOL! Is there any point in doing it this way? Seems like the drawbacks outweigh the benefits.
do game saves get uploaded to Steam cloud so I can continue playing on a different computer without moving the saves manually?
you joined Freedom?
The most beneficial playthrough is being friends to everyone but is it really the most fun one?
yeah but I was expecting the Freedom base to either:
- Stay empty
- Get taken over by Duty
- Be filled with zombies?
yeah but having to constantly shoot someone isn't too fun, especially Freedom members with deadly GP-37s
btw. after bringing the upgraded M4 rifle to Voronin, all Duty members became green dots on the minimap, I don't think I had that in ZRP
do them being friendly even change anything in their behavior?
You do get better prices from Petrenko and regular squad numbers and they won’t be telling you to hide your gun most of the time and will gladly talk even when you have it
what do you mean by "regular squad numbers"?
faction members, mb*, I mean when trading with random dutiers they will buy stuff for for more and sell stuff for less as well
ah okay, I never do that tbh
@late condor btw what's the typical outcome of the Freedom vs. Skull's group battle when Freedomers go out and attack? In ZRP Dutyers lost the skirmish pretty quick, in vanilla it's the other way around - Freedomers die fast.
Can I shoot Dutyers if I want Freedom to win this one? Or will I be banned from Rostok?
You can but you will lose reputation, also if you kill any dutiers before quest in vanilla the quest won’t count cause a certain number of npcs need to die
So you can’t come there before freedomers and just kill everyone with barrels
Can’t say about the outcome, I’ve had both sides win without player interference on vanilla game
idk, Petrenko's prices seem the same as Barman's
@late condor Petrenko asked me to kill the stalker that's guarding the entrance to Freedom's base. Is the barrel method the only way to remain friendly with Freedom? In ZRP I just knifed him in the back and no one cared.
Now I shot him with a sniper rifle from a long distance but everyone turned hostile anyway. Will they return to neutral after a while?
barrel is guaranteed, though silenced weapons also do sometimes work but are unreliable
no they won't, you may try reloading and doing the same a couple times though
you may even do that with a knife until after a few dozen attempts stars align and nobody notices
Yes, in one game. However I don't recommend it. While the Bandits and Mercs became neutral, Duty and Ecologists become enemies. When I got to the Wild Territory, Kruglov tried to kill me.
this actually worked like the first time in ZRP lol
@naive hollow is that shit allowed
Reason: advertisement
@late condor is there a way to check my current reputation level with the factions? like a number?
unfortunately no, but why do you think it would matter? If it's green it's green, the specific numbers only affect how much shit you can do to a faction before they're no longer green.
figured it wouldn't be too far-fetched for some console commands to exist for that, but apparently not
I want to get Sniper VLA but I have to kill 3 Freedomers to get it, on the wiki it says "player's reputation towards Freedom faction will fall harshly by 220. "
if they're green, your rep can take the hit
and you can get it back up with a few missions for freedom
do I gain reputation from the repeatable fetch quests?
yes
b a r r e l s
your best friend
no
and yeah you can hurt and get the rep back, you can get both freedom and duty green easily
no no, rep hit from that mission comes from its completion, not just the killing of the dudes
so barrels won't work?
I've had them torn limb from limb by bloodsuckers and freedom still blamed me^^
lol
still, if they're green your rep can take the hit. but there's no dodging it to my knowledge
reward_relation = dolg, +225, freedom, -250
Yeah mb you're right
idk where en wiki got 220 from
some place the sun don't shine; )
Do headshots work on Controllers?
I need to check SVD on them, because they take too much ammo to take down.
in SoC best tactic is to go point blank. they didn't get a melee attack till CS
This game is awesome.
fr its one of my favorites
Right?! Haven't enjoyed a game this much since Fallout new vegas dropped in like 2010.
The Chimeras though scare me. I have killed a total of I think 2 thus far?
Ah yes.
The CNPP. Aka the Monolith clown car technology development center.
I don't have the image perms for it but I had to kill around 8 or so exo wearers just to make it into a single room.
i remember when i came into pripyat with 520 VSS bullets and now i'm picking up whatever i can find
Classic soc finale experience
not having an actual sniper for the roof monoliths with gauss rifles and rpgs really hurt during the sprint to the power plant
well, sprint isn't the right wording. i couldn't run with my exo on
Reason: Bad word usage
what game?
Stalker 2.

well i won't gatekeep you but this is the SoC channel
Oh sorry.
No problem.
@late condor RUwiki says to kill the guard at Freedom's gate (Twig) unnoticed you first have to kill the guy on the tower and then shoot the guard with a silenced weapon. I can't even kill the tower guard without everyone immediately turning hostile.
PS. I'm not gonna use explosive barrels.
Wait, you're NOT going to roll barrels up several towers to take out snipers?
@late condor So yeah, killing him at night just works. The same sniping spots/methods that didn't work during the day, work at night.
You can just come up behind him and knife him and no one will notice.
wtf I found Wolf dead at Amy Winehouse
many such cases
he either fell into the fire or got attacked by one of the usual mutant hordes that pass that area, either a bloodsucker or a band of boars
there's a chance I killed him when I was doing a hit in the area for Barkeep lol
I guess she didn't show him mercy
should I give him a proper burial at the vortex anomaly?
kill every freedomer and stack the corpses side by side like that one guy
huh? 😮
like, a year ago we had a guy who physically dragged the corpses and weapons of the guys he killed and lined them up horizontally and took a photo of it
it was creepy, but funny ngl
Day 15: Subject still hasen't confirmed or denied he said Amy Winehouse instead of army warehouse intentionally
Huh?? I didn't know he left rookie village
That guy is on a list somewhere lol
you never met Fanatic at rookie village?
No asthat might unironically brick your saves xD
Oh I thought you said wolf
Not guaranteed but I wouldn’t risk it
It's been a long time since I played soc tbh
yeah, Fanatic takes Wolf's place at the rookie village
wtf why
When the game deletes a body it does not delete a reference to the minimap marker and that continues to live in your save without being attached to anything which may eventually lead to save corruption
And no, ZRP does not fix it as that’s an engine bug
It’s not something that is guaranteed to happen though
ZRP doesn't fix engine bugs?
There's limits to what ZRP can do
Nah
Neither does SRP
I had my own project to fix some CS engine bugs: https://github.com/SurDno/xray-fixes
Replaying SOC and got to admit it's refreshing after HOC
HOC is a good game but it's no SOC
I put Wolf's body into a vortex several times, some times it would delete the mini map marker, other times the map marker would remain
Insane how something made over a much bigger time period with a ready engine and a 10x larger team can fall so short to what GSC has been doing 15 years ago
It's just missing too much tbh
Nothing other than the lore and improved gunplay feels that different than any other action shooter out there
And even then I use lore loosely
The lore sucks compared to OG trilogy and the amount of retcons ruined the game for me (and many other people who cared about stalker lore)
Best part of the continued lore was ||finding out Tolik's fate|| lmao
One of the very few instances where a recurring character is not just a nostalgia bait and actually had any character arc
It does feel very strange replaying on a console vs the original playthrough years ago on pc lol
Mod support is very bare bones lol there's about 5 mods you can get, none of which are worth the bother
Does look nice though
Gsc have been very strict with modding restrictions, in their view modding is just retextures and similar experience customization, you can’t edit anything gameplay related at all
Also console versions have lots of new bugs, are full of Red Cross and Soviet censorship and got removed multiplayer (wack af, could bring new life to it)
Inferior to pc versions in almost every way imaginable other than controller support
Even achievements which were a selling point of the port are so badly done and cringe it’s insane
Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat are on a completely different level, it's not even close.

Does anyone know how to properly install mods for this game?
I've spent the last 5 hours trying to make it playable for myself, and when I got it to work ONCE I tried to add the russian dubbing mod only for it to crash again and again and now I'm unable to stop it crashing even though I did the same thing I did when it started working the first time?
In the beginning it wouldn't even open it would just have some bug icon crash but now it loads up to a black screen, closes and crashes, what do I do?
#🔩┃trilogy_modifications you will need to explain what you were doing instead of just what’s going wrong, clearly messed up the installation
it says here on the wiki to dispose of freedomers' bodies in a vortex should they die before one takes the quest https://stalker.fandom.com/wiki/Purge_the_freedomers
yes, and if you want to do the mission again you should also do that with the previous corpses
but @late condor just said doing that can screw up my save
can I do that immediately after killing them or do I have to get the reward first?
well, for the mission to have a chance to become available again, the freedommers have to respawn first
I am not aware of that particular trick but I've had trouble ever activating the quest after the initial Murk group is dead, so I won't be surprised if that's the case.
wont those be non-permanent since they are simulation and not unique
Would make sense
well, have you managed to do the mission more than once?
Been a while. But I seem to remember doing so, yeah

finished my replay yday.
christ it was a meat grinder after meat grinder after meat grinder.
What? Why? Did you play on Master or something?
alright wolf get off my back
i only ever play on master
s' what i'm used to
Then I guess it figures.
the aproach to the hologram was incredibly dense with enemies coming out of every hole, then the teleportation sequence was a game of getting really intimate with the gauss rifle and its tendency to just aim 30 degrees left of my reticle
and that very last teleporter with the 6 exosuits airdropping in on me 💀
I've never had problems with the Gauss rifle. Pin point accuracy. The area before the last teleporter is rough, but you can sprint to the finish if you don't want to engage the exosuits or fall back down the ladder and pick them off one by one. With an Exoskeleton suit you can also hang around and fight, but I guess that's not an option on Master.
lets just say i visted a very specific stash of an old friend in the middle of pripyat
Yeah, so no running. But there are Skat9 military suits scattered around too.
@late condor, continuing this #📸┃trilogy-screenshots message (to not flood the screenshots and videos channel)
it totally makes sense now. I completely forgot that there is such thing as multiplicative stacking.
so artifacts stack additively with each other, and then armor resist and stacked artifact resist both stack multiplicatively.
it took some time to figure out how you got 99%, but I finally got it lol: total_resist = 1 - (1 - armor_resist) * (1 - total_additive_resist_of_artifacts).
so in case with 90% armor and 90% artifact resist (3 artifacts 30% each) i is indeed 99% total.
but if the artifacts stack to 120% it results into 102%.
so assuming incoming damage is 100,
in the first case we get 100 * (1 - 0.99) = 1 subtracted from player's health
in the second case it is 100 * (1 - 1.02) which is -2 subtracted from player's health which turns into +2.
yo math rocks, lol. thanks dude
SoC does creative math
that would make sense because repairing an armor this way takes a while
yeah, but to be honest I used this trick only couple of times. there is so many suits all over the Zone in different stashes or just laying on the ground, that before I even got my armor to 75% I usually found another one
True that’s how you’re intended to play, just that this abuse exists to allow you to use it a lil longer, especially the unique suits
I don't see SSP-99M "lying around" lol
it costs 100k and armors deteriorate pretty fast tbh
lol, you're right but still, after my spp-99m got broken I just didn't really bother and bought the scat-9
Also I never thought about that but yeah calculations made me realise that suits with better anomaly protection are slower to repair
Makes sense tbh
But with shell collision method it doesn’t matter cause it’s instant
I sold my SPP-9M, bought Skat... worst decision ever lol
had to save up money to buy SPP back
lol why? u usually want more bullet protection towards the end game. there is very few anomalies there
ok, and maybe radiation protection especially for cnpp
but idk, it didnt feel like spp was a must. pretty much cheased it with my skat and occasionally switched to exoskeleton in cnpp and afterwards
also, didn't feel like money was a problem. if you keep your artifacts until the Yanov, you can get a lot of money from selling them to Sakharov
though I had to make like 2 or 3 runs to bring them all from the bar to the bunker :D
by the end of the game I had like 350k spare
I'm still in Amy Winehouse, also I have more influence over bullets than over anomalies + radiation
fang exo / ssp-99m / skat are the only three options for endgame gear pretty much
Tourist suit for utility
no radiation protection, no bullet protection
exactly, for utility
so carry 2 armors?
nah, I just switch depending on my plans
but loot is always in the plans
naturally, but when it's the sole-focus Imight choose to go with tourisst
yeah that's good thinking
going through Wild Territory always yields at least 5 M4s
thankfully I manage it with the 50kg carry limit
wow clouds cast shadows in SoC
haven't noticed it before but it gives a very nice effect
@karmic horizon does weather change in SoC as time passes? The game starts at May 1 st, so it should get more sunny and greener theoretically.
No. Same weather every day at the same period of time.
If it’s raining on a location in that time, it’ll rain every day at that time. No exceptions.
CS was the first one to introduce dynamic missions.
Technically, every single cyclic side mission is repeatable with no exceptions. However, for some of them the repetition criteria is never met.
Eg a quest to kill a unique character is only non repeatable because there is only one of that character. If there were two, it would repeat.
That being said, all quests to bring artifacts and mutant bodies are repeatable, all quests to bring other items are not, all quests to clear area are repeatable, with killing stalkers it depends on whether it’s a unique character or a generic one
That may be abused with certain bugs to make non-repeatable quest repeat
@late condor what's prop_govno? 🤣
a texture of a piece of cow cr*p that was photographed by a dev and placed into lots of areas in all three games, often as an easter egg (in CS on garbage there is one instance with a spoon next to it)
are those all artifacts in the entire game? I mean the ones you can find in the world, not from repeatable quests
I'm pretty sure you can defend the factory, do the underground and steal the documents all in 24 hours.
can you see Wolf giving the dynamite to Skull or is it just imaginary?
Imaginary and fun fact is that him giving dynamite to skull is a headcanon
It does work surprisingly well, Wolf leaves to get dynamite to somebody, goes to warehouses and there’s skull using it on warehouses
But people who studied desdocs found that this link is never mentioned
I’ll need to refresh my memory on that though there are some details I must have missed
desdocs? you mean design docs?
btw is there a chest at Freedom's base I can keep my stuff in?
yeah that's the common abbreviation
I finally managed to get Freedom to kill Skull's group, doing it the "normal" way would always make Freedom lose
I had to kill the sniper first.
Then talk to Skull about killing Lukash, decline doing it, after which Skull's group would move on to Freedom's base.
Sprint to Lukash and tell him about Duty on the farm and by the time I spoke to Max, Duty was already pouring in through the hole in the walls.
Once Duty members are in, Freedomers can kill them all. Quite a few freedom members die too, tho.
I got like 50k worth of loot from that.
Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well :D
Ever since I played SoC for the first time in 2007, the only trick I knew was tossing a weapon into a door to open it.
After I started replaying it again few weeks ago, I've found out that you can play stealth, you can heal and "repair" standing in anomalies, and that you can actually be friends with both Freedom and Duty
And there is also one that you can somehow drop your weapon underneath yourself to kind of jump higher. But I didn't try it myself, just saw on a video. And also, you can stick a weapon into a fence, to climb over it
lol, I remembered, when I tried this trick with Freedom and Duty for the first time, I couldn't get all the loot from Freedom's storage because I was carying a lot of my own. So I picked up half, and decided to drop it under the staircase, and while I was packing the rest, the guy who guards it came back and made me soft locked.
Lesson learned. :D
The second time before starting the heist I dropped all my loot into a stash
...Life of boris was right, you not play stalker, stalker play you..... You play it all the time, and you think about it, when you are not playing it....
You can take the man of out the zone but you can't take the zone out of the man
Damn that's a good ass quote
Time to set that shit as my bio, I am losing it I really want to play stalker but it's a school night and I have not slept in 3 days
is there like a good graphic only mod
no
soc has a very unqiue art style that most mods just throw in the trash, you should just go with vanilla
okay then
there isn't a mod that improves graphics but preserves the art direction of the game
also i have a couple missions in the dark valley should i get an antiradiation suit?
always a good idea to get best gear available to you at the moment but rads is not that big of an issue there
since i have 0% knowledge abt 99% of this game
The closest one, is one of the older Complete Mods,
i dont really know where to get good gear except doing missions i guess
(not only graphics and still HEAVILY changes the artstyle of the game)
Not the older verisons, they were a texture mod mainly.
The latest one is awful
it seems i need an anti radiation something to get into the dark valley
Here - https://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009/downloads
The early versions do not use ZRP, but the earlier verions are mainly graphical, Atmospheric, and changes to combat experience... But the story remains the same...
The later versions add more and change more. And the latest one is rubbish.
where can i find some radiation protection
Rookie village, and artifacts later on.
they always included zrp, which already strays from "texture only"
how do you turn on debug menu
Not as far as I could remember...
But then there was one mod, that allowed you pick your settings before the game started, so you could massively increase the grass draw distance and stuff.
Been looking for it for months...
I just can not find it anymore.
there's no debug menu in vanilla games
what if im using ZRP
then go to #🔩┃trilogy_modifications cause most people wont know what your mod adds and how it functions
I didn't say they were texture only, I said mainly.
What standalone mod adds companions?
Is this game multiplayer
It has a multiplayer mode but it’s a separate thing, think Half Life and Half Life Deathmatch
One is a story experience another is a regular team shooter / deathmatch mode
It’s fun but the main selling point is still singleplayer mode
Also if you play LotZ (console versions) then no multiplayer for you, they cut it
Stalker is getting a pre downloading
LotZ is, yeah the update was already discussed in #legends-of-the-zone
@late condor gone and booted
bro just joined today and was clearly a troll them being gone is a net positive for the community
Alright making sure
It used to have PvP maps, not sure about now though
Reason: Bad word usage
I robbed their armory earlier 🤣 just use an armor dropped on the ground to prop yourself up and crawl above the guard.
@late condor what's armor "durability"? is it how fast it deteriorates?
Guys should I replay shadow of chernobyl if I only made it out with a SEVA suit and VLA/Big Ben end game
Sarcophogus softlock goes hard
And i completed Barkeeps/Vornonins quests as much as possible
I kinda felt like I rushed the game i beat it in 18 hours so should I do a replay with 5.45 s14
5.45 s14 is fun to use. if you enjoyed your first playthrough, why not play it again?
5.45 s14?
Tunder that uses 5.45 yeah
Used by Barin and can sometimes be bought from Sid before getting your reward from wolf for the first mission
Most powerful 5.45 weapon in the game by some margin
Then how should I replay it?
I grinded for tunder 5.45 but don't know if I should replay or not
Explore. The game has a lot to offer if you stay behind. Some events will only unfold if you backtrack.
Main question is: do you want to replay it?
Do I have to replay it or can I play call of pripyat
You started with CS?
If you got the true ending the first time, it's safe to go on to CoP
Unless you haven't llayed CS before
I got the false ending with the money
Replay
Yeah then it’s a good idea to replay the game either way
Then how do I get a true ending
There is a new questline?
Just the actual finding Strelok questline that could use some highlighting to draw player's attention to it
Is the questline boring
No
Also how do I avoid rushing the game since 18 hours is not alot
Explore, loot, take your time finding secrets and talking to people
Side quests, stashes, breakable containers, explore every rook and cranny, there’s lots of loot hidden in spots you won’t expect
Also is a tunder 5.45 and black kite the only weapons i need
I used the big ben and sniper vla first playthrough
There are many different weapons that are valid choices , I’ve seen people complete the game with fast shooting AKM
Also is clear sky not worth playing
Wdym it’s the best game in the series
@late condor So I skipped the brain scorcher entirely and just went straight to Pripyat. Game progresses as normal, lol.
That's wild lol
yeah im aware, the quest finishes too
so skipping brain scorcher is legit?
it's certainly not intended but for whatever reason does not bug the game in any way lol
Guys is it normal to have a 5.45 groza black kite suppressed and 120000 rubles and a stalker suit before going to any of the labs
Also science medkits and 11 military medkits
Games do that skip dialogue checks and just let you do the last objective in the quest and it’s like “hey thanks for doing that job I totally gave you and you didn’t know the whole thing and skip to the end because you value your sanity”
Sometimes it’s not even like “you gotta job for me?” “Yeah find this thing.” “Good news I already have it.”
It’s like
“Here you go”
“Thank you. Your reward as promised: my land and my daughter”
Someone tell me if this is normal ☠️☠️☠️
Guess imma buy the skat9m when it's available
It makes you wish the side quests didn’t exist and everything so minuscule in a game was elective and completed just by solving whatever big problem was in the way.
I feel drained on this second playthrough also saved kruglov early
Like if I could just go around fixing generators and giving out tools in Fallout games without needing to bow to Bethesda’s system
Who?
I have a bad memory
Ecologist in green suit
Ahh yeah well I did my damnedest to save the ecologists
So when I go to yantar I get to skip 2 hours of gameplay that I already completed
It is nice they ||focus the military on the zombies|| for you
The zombies are bullet sponges also master is too easy for me
Even on master they soak 5.45
For my playthrough it was more helpful to do quest by quest because with how little context you actually have the patience to find and read through losing it entirely makes it worse
Like I had no idea where Strelok’s hideout was because the game rushed me through agroprom and killed the guy you were supposed to talk to
The game has such bad quest structure that you can beat all the quests in 10 minutes
2000’s graphics don’t help
The game leaves you on your own unless you play heart of chernobyl
Is the quest structure normal?
It’s like Far Cry
People shit on that but I am not reading a novel hidden in the game files written in Ukrainian to understand the story
Because voice acting hasn’t been invented yet
Is call of pripyats quest structure the same
Skif’s dub tho was just
are you talking about s2?
It’s an improvement on voice cues but you kinda just go place to place accidentally skipping explanations before doing a quest for X faction
Bethesda games mostly
in s1 it's more of a contrary, usually there's entire sequence of events that needs to complete and missing a part of it is not an option
brain scorcher skip is the rare exception, not the rule
I didn’t know you could run past it but I didn’t see the point not shutting it down
Stalker is very difficult to get into just because of the quest structure and how unreliable it is
But I guess it can just do that for you
Like I went to garbage early and did the fox thing but randomly sery was already did
It canceled out a quest because I went to garbage early
when you loot the body there's info that goes into your PDA that you can read, even if you skip dialogue the game doesn't care it all works
I’ve played my share of games like that and I’m used to just shooting and looting things until the game rewards me and gives me the good ending
SoC is pretty straightforward when played as intended, and they generally account for NPCs being able to die
Quest structure ☠️
it's a morrowind -> oblivion kind of drop in writing quality and amount, also you played in ukrainian?
Well again I was rushed out by an impending hoard of mutants, grunts and helicopters and I was not backtracking after that
I tried to but I couldn’t pay enough attention to subtitles
then why do you say written in ukrainian lol? 🤔
SoC is... kinda barebones in the narrative department, though there's enough details to maintain interest at least
I was always gripped by the faction elements and hubs
I never did do the arena in SoC I thought it’d be a hamper
The side quests do some lifting above their weight class to give you a feel for the world
I like that about games. Sometimes you need to make a little progress to be able to tackle side quests and vice versa.
SoC’s lack of fast travel even guides killed the incentive to go back and do side quests
And they were bugged to hell
Ehh, the game world is not really that big, though some areas like Yantar are kind of a pain to return to yeah
You can’t even skip whatever anomalous hazards you had to go through to get to the next area when going back and forth
Miles of nothing but radiation, mutants and garbage in the garbage just why and I couldn’t replace my guns and armor as if I could afford to
The exoskeleton they give you at the end is so useless I had the SEVA suit just barely clinging on
You can’t sprint in exoskeletons so why give you one in a parkour area
the main story is barebones, it's selling factor was the entire world introduction
which is why playing any other game before soc is an objectively bad choice
Yeah, definitely
the game was developed and released in russian, the ukrainian translation came out later
english translation is done from russian, not ukrainian, and is missing some of the UA details
so you didn't explore Agroprom's underground?
I thought it's impossible to miss Strelok's hideout
I did something
bruh what?
hoc is ridiculously dumbified for average casual gamer, you can pretty much not read at all and just follow quest markers lol
there's infinite sprint
No there ain’t
yeah but SoC has quest markers too
there is
haven't explored enough
Sorry
with proper artifacts there is suit repair, infinite sprint and more
can get insane regen with 5 souls too
I can live without armor repair, but I can't live without infinite sprint
yeah i also find myself rushing moonlights by visiting electra tunnels in Cordon and agroprom undeground during the ngiht
I was not looking for all that
The game punishes rushing and rewards exploration.
you didn't find a single +endurance artifact?
idk what to tell you, you played it wrong
I did
I beat the game and that was that I’m done
stacking endurance artifacts allows you to just run without any limits
yeah you don't need guides if you have infinite sprint
yeah but you say soc is barebones in lore despite not reading dialogues / pda entries, that the game is empty despite not exploring it, idk man
Strelok runs like Usain Bolt
all of your complaints feel like a skill issue
hoc is a massive downgrade to everything stalker is, a good far cry game, a terrible stalker game
The game still kind of expects you to read to understand the story and what you're doing, HoC brings out all the important story points in the form of cutscenes to make sure even if you can't read you don't miss anything
there isn't much reading SoC
at least in the form of dialogs
PDA has stuff to read
Reason: Bad word usage
which I sort of ignored because of the friggin' bugged notification icon
have you read encyclopedia's folklore?
this shit is fire and really expands on the game's lore A LOT
lol "fire" the writing itself is poor
I read it all once, I didn't feel like reading it again
I'm reading the original stalker book for lore
idk maybe im biased but I feel like it's good, maybe less impressive in translation
it's nowhere near the original Fallout1/2 levels of writing
it's obvious the translation wasn't done by a native English speaker
there's no flow to it
i mean that writing isnt even peak
it's above average level
what game has peak writing?
