good build quality and batt life on amd version
has advanced optimus and mux switch
screen is pretty nice too, though it's not very bright
just 300 nits or so
Thanks for the inputs
These two laptops good for the price?
eh i would also say 4080 laptop is sad too
cuz it's a 4070 in a clamshell
if price is right 4070 laptop ain't bad at all
but in this case 3070ti is better choice
id get this instead of the 3070ti laptop, https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-tuf-15-6-gaming-laptop-144hz-fhd-intel-core-i7-with-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-512gb-ssd-mecha-grey/6552905.p?skuId=6552905
4080 laptop is way less sad
4070 mobile is so much slower than the desktop card it's crazy
that's expected
since "4070" laptop is essentially 4060ti
the only cards matching desktop counterpart are 4050 and 4060
4080 laptop is close to 4080 12gb
There are a lot of people who chime in every so often here that are wealthy in info
yepp
actually slightly beats
The more the merrier
I've seen them as low as 1500
oh?
it was only once or twice though, normally closer to 1800+
It's kinda crazy that people are still trying to sell 1660S for the price of that 2070S. Even crazier is people are buying them.
Yeah lol, I wish I'd waited a bit longer and gotten one instead of the used 5700xt I bought my partner
Basically the same price for a refurb 2070s now, and between the two I'd rather a 2070s
Eh, the difference between the 2070 and 5700 XT isn't huge at least
Yeah, I'm all for AMD when a similar price for better perf, but at same price for same perf I'd choose nvidia
True. But at least in this case you didn't miss out on a whole lot.
holy my internet is so bad
anyways I think I should buy a used 2080ti
idk though
Frick nvm, the pny 2080ti got sold for 250$
Could likely get a 6700xt used for that much
I talked to foxy about this 180$ 6700xt in IL. Issue is guy is likely a scammer
Was rude on my alt, and kept making excuse on excuse to not show any partial SN
Plus no static bag, was sitting on styrofoam (power color fighter doesn’t come with any)
Not joking though it’s all over 250$ for used versions
But I’ve seen 6600xt/6650xt as low as 130$
The Asus OC boards are better than the EVGA for memory OC most of the time. The EVGA 790 board might be about equal now, with the latest BIOS.
Yes but also $320
It depends on if you want to get the most out of the hardware or are just doing it for fun and not to be the most competitive.
$320 for that board is still nice
Unfortunately the z790 dark isn't great
Z690 dark was pretty good for z690
Best laptop for school? maybe around 400-500 euros something that will last me a while, has good battery, I don't think I'll play any games on it just programming and preferably not refurbished but if that's recommended then I'll check it out (for Finland)
This one
Bro 💀
Lenovo ideapad 3 is Ryzen 5500u 16gb ram 1tb ssd 600 euros but I don't think I need all of that
well for programming having 6 cores is great
is there any cheaper options with less storage?
I mean there's one with 512 GB SSD and 8 GB storage but it's like 18 euros cheaper
hmm
Yeah true if what I said is a good deal then I could just get that one
I don't really know about your market, but that seems good
Alright thanks
For that price I'd expect a slightly better cpu but I'm in US so the market might be different
With what I looked at, it seems that laptop is probably your best bet
Or you can look for Intel offerings, but at least i5 12th gen
Laptops in Finland are quite a bit more expensive and that laptop is on a pretty significant sale as well 25%
ngl for programming just 5500U does ok enough
Yeah but if there's a 5600U for close in price it might be worth
Not that I could find
There's a 5700U for 719 euros but 8 GB ram and 256 GB SSD so probably not worth it
Would there be anything you would recommend for programming that isn't wildly expensive but out of the budget. I wouldn't buy it but just to know what to look for
Intel 12/13th gen equipped laptops might be around
5500/700 are zen 2 while 5600/800 are zen 3, it's weird
just amd being amd
Would thinkpads with that processor work well?
i have zen 3+ despite the name being 7000 series
yes
what's the specs and price?
Of a ThinkPad with that processor here?
Thinkpad E14 gen 4 i7-1255U (16 GB ram and 512 GB ssd) is 1079 but I haven't looked too much into it so there might be better prices elsewhere
The websites I look at are gigantti.fi, jimms.fi, power.fi and then amazon.de since in my experience it has been the best Amazon for finland but I haven't actually looked at the Swedish one
Yeah
If I do get one in a couple of years is there one you would specifically recommend
It depends by then honestly, can't answer now
Acer Aspire 5 (A515-45-R5BU) Laptop | 15,6 FHD Display | AMD Ryzen 5 5500U | 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SDD | AMD Radeon Graphics | Windows 11 | QWERTZ Tastatur | silber, ----- Ein starker Servicepartner an Ihrer Seite - Das Deutsche Institut für Service-Qualität (DISQ) kürte Acer in der Kategorie „Berat...
569 euros
5500u 16gb ram and 512gb ssd
20 euros less
Alright then these might be better since it's cheaper and I won't need a tb of storage
There's this aswell
529 euros
4500U is exact same chip as 5500U
nvm 539
There's no difference between the performance?
Nope
Absolutely none
Other than ran I suppose
4500U laptops tends to run slower ram
2666mhz compared to 3000/3200
So there's little to no difference between this and the Acer aspire 5 it's just cheaper?
Alright
I think I might go with the 225 G8
How long do you estimate it will last me if I'm careful
Would it be around the same as the ideapad 3 as well?
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Slim Laptop | 15.6 Inch FHD Display | Ryzen 5 5625U | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | AMD Radeon Graphics | Windows 11 Home | Grey | 3 Months Premium Care https://amzn.eu/d/hKYq0xs
The processor is a bit better but it's 40 euros more than the hp so maybe not worth it
Thanks for your help
There's actually the same one for 550 so same price as the hp 235 G8 same specs but 5625U
If there's no difference in the battery life that seems to be the best
Hp is 41 wh and ideapad is 39 so there's not much difference
Yeah true
Only worry I have is that the ideapad 3 is plastic and I've heard it bends a lot
That might just be anecdotal though
it's fine
all laptops can bend anyway, if you're talking about the screen lol
but they're not permanent bending
just that you can twist them if you really use force
but why would you do that anyway
You might be thinking 4600U and 5500U
4500 is 6c6t, no SMT
4500u is 6c/12t tho
wait lemme check a bit
Techpowerup also says 6c6t
There's also vega 6 instead of 7 igpu but that's a much smaller difference than no smt
ya
This looks good
I always love pointing people to the b-stock arctic units
I got a 420mm there myself
Yeah but it's hard to fit in cases
Yeah full tower time
tmw you get a full tower and it's still not big enough
Pretty good laptop deal https://www.ebay.com/itm/275995381734?
Used though
Yeah that's the one I ended up getting. Thanks for your help
for the price especially considering the market you're in that's pretty solid
What's it like in the US? Is it easy to find laptop deals better than that
I got my ryzen 5825U (8 core 16 thread) laptop for ~550-600 USD
direct from Dell
Other than the cpu the specs are pretty similar to the ideapad
it has a 120hz display which is nice but no keyboard backlight which is not so nice
Yeah
In the UK as well it's just better than here if you go onto the Lenovo site it's like 450 more euros for a t14 than in the UK
It's probably even better in the US
Here in the US we save loads on tech and then spend it all on medical bills
Haha yeah, I've heard that the NHS (UK healthcare which is free) actually spends less money on each patient than the US government does so if they switched to free healthcare they would actually save some money but they would have to fund the healthcare service but even then it's still less
"But that would be communism and we can't have that!"
Is literally an argument people use
Meanwhile I rock no case.
Question what exactly is b-stock is that just stuff that there trying to get rid of or like returns?
returns/refurbed
Ah ok
In the case of the liquid freezer models, they had an issue that required replacing a gasket. Arctic very actively recalled all the affected units so they could have the new gasket put in. These B stock ones are likely ones that were pulled off store shelves for the recall. They've all been fixed and come with full warranty.
Ouch. That always sucks.
I still have yet to replace the gasket they sent me
It wasn't a huge deal anyway, just a buildup problem over time
Hey guys
What do we think of this
get a bstock liquid freezer in #tech-deals
oh the deal oppse uh pls ignore me
but with the bstock coolers its really not a great deal now
I couldn’t find a 360 radiator
240, 280, 420
Even with shipping fee, it’s still not bad. But the thermalight is cheaper
Question is is it worth it? Better? Better for the price?
We don't have a whole lot of information on that aio but I've heard it's decent for the price
Do you think the arctic freeze in #tech-deals is a better option?
I see. Thank you
It's fabulous
I'd argue that over the arctic b stock due to cold plate inconsistencies
280 is actually pretty close to a 360
I’m gonna get around to testing the Frozen Notte 240 here soon on my 13600K
Just unsure how to run a benchmark recording temperatures
There's a few different ways you can go about it
Would you be looking at it compared to another cooler or by itself?
I really don’t have anything else to base it off if I were going by my own results
So mainly just by itself
Ok so standalone results. What you can do is test what frequency the CPU boosts to under various loads. Single core, dual, triple, etc. and see how close it gets to the rated max boost.
If it hits the rated max in a single core load and maybe 500-600 below with all the p-cores loaded, then you can call the cooler sufficient for that CPU at stock.
It's at that point you can start controlling variables like locking frequency and voltage to see how many Watts of heat the cooler can dissipate before it saturates and throttles.
Could compare to my clc 280, it's similar to an lf2 280 with the p14s I put on it
Though I still need to do a remount
Also different case, it won't be a perfect comparison but it's something
I’ve never done any sort of benchmarking in my life
I do have an fc140 I could put on and compare that possibly
It wouldn't be a true like for like comparison even if it's the same model CPU you can call it a close enough comparison
Yeah, just to give us a general idea of where the frozen notte stands
Then you can run the time spy demo and look at the CPU temps during the final test, it does multiple different loads automatically. If it stays under 90 during that test I'd call it good enough.
I could bench my 13600k with a pa120se
^
issue is, no clue how to bench
as well as should I leave my glass panel off?
considering alot of benches with AIO's are usually out of the case
Cinebench is a decent quick "test" to run even if a bit more realistic than prime95 or such. 12700k is a lil diff, but I'll soon check it w/ FC140 or similar.
Ime, when benching in a good case, I see better thermals with the panel on because the airflow through the case is designed with that on. Allows efficient movement of air in/through/out of the case. With the panel off, the air just kinda does whatever. Now.. you could have the panel off and just have a box fan pointing right into it and probably see benefit.
This isn't really a good sale, considering pa120 se is basically same price, or a different dual tower cooler from thermalright, but for a blackout build this would look so sick and is cheapest sleek black cooler afaik
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6FCCFG7
The DeepCool AK400 ZERO DARK PLUS is an all-black variant of our highly compatible AK400 CPU cooler featuring a classic four heat pipe tower layout with a unique matrix fin design and two high-performance FDB fans that delivers excellent heat dissipation and extremely low noise levels. Dripping i...
Only 4 heatpipes and a pretty small heatsink
Fine if you want it for the looks I guess
no need, you can do a few, id do prime95 small fft and check the clock speeds on all cores with hwinfo64, theres also 3d mark timespy cpu score would be the easiest, could do single core cinebench if you wanted to to
Plus it depends on what @marsh sphinx does too so
Also istg didn’t you get ddr4 and a 12600k or something
He was debating between different options for a while
Yeah ultimately I settled on paying a bit more for current gen
My Z790 is still at my brother's place and gonna buy the 13600K tomorrow
Still deciding what DDR5 kit to get
You gonna ram tune?
This gauranteed A die is still in stock https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qk9wrH/teamgroup-t-create-classic-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-5600-cl46-memory-ctccd532g5600hc46dc01 unless I got the wrong kit
afaik thats the right one
If not tuning I'd say this
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XsqPxr/gskill-ripjaws-s5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl36-memory-f5-6000j3636f16gx2-rs5k
Or could spend a bit more for 6000c32/c30 or 6400c32
Tbh during Black Friday I might pick up the cheapest ddr5 board and kit
Eh, with 13600k/6650xt unless you do cpu focused workloads, I would upgrade gpu first for sure
Ddr5 would be a 10% increase in cpu perf, whereas that $150-200 could be put towards a gpu upgrade that would affect you much more (you likely won't even notice the difference between ddr4 and ddr5 with a 6650xt in gaming)
What are the chances that this is real.
No matches
What did you use? tineye?
Yeah
Hmm, so it might be real but broken or something
There's no description, so I'm not sure
Any blackout ones or RGB?
This is blackout, no?
Hmmm, I suppose so just the red bits showing kinda pushes me away from it
assume the worst
I'd honestly reccomend going for a quest 2 instead
They can be had for $100-120 used I think
I had a rift S and the 'screen door' effect was really bad
Q2 does have image compression when using Link with a PC but in my experience it's less immersion breaking than the Rift S was for me
Please send me the link
I couldn't find a decent one for less than $200
If you're ram tuning, just grab whatever 5600c32 kit you like
If not, 6000/6400c36/c32/c30
Though 5600c32 is still fine if you're not ram tuning
I'm probably just gonna be gaming and if I eventually want to tune I'll grab one of those kits later down the road
6000c38 fine too
Wouldn't go for 5600c36 or 6000c40 imo, just because of better kits for same pricing
Real
They're fine for Ryzen tho
Pls no
It's like
Choosing between samsung B and C
Think if Zen 5 drops and all cpu's can do 8000+ comfortably, you've just bottled the ram for any down the line possibility

Pick from any of the 4
For Intel?
For both
Hm alright
It's like, spending 3 dollars more for the same quality psu with 100 more watts
It's worth it when these kits are amongst the cheapest
5600CL32 or 6000CL30?
Either or
What matters is it's confirmed hynix
Both can do 6000 cl30
Or later on 7000, 8000+
Meanwhile samsung, micron struggle over 6000
Not too sure about that link in #tech-deals
Too bad none of those have expo profiles for people that don't want to mess with stuff in bios
We specifically don't allow link shorteners
Since they can lead literally anywhere and track you
You can still use the xmp
You'd probably need to tweak at least one voltage to get it to work though
Only EXPO or XMP too?
They usually have both if they have expo
Sooo
Is it possible the stock timings are gonna be bad?
On what kit
omg the boys are in CoD now lol
Didn't that end already
Or were they just teasing the next season
Which is super weird with like nicki manaj or something
yeah idk i just opened up cod for the first time in a while and saw it
theres also a cat bundle lol
I mean, xmp or expo are generally pretty bad to begin with, wide net for wide range of stability
Alright well let me put it like this
I'm stupid
So either I learn how to turn or continue being stupid
I'm not saying ur stupid

My biggest go to quote lately is no one writes a manual on this stuff
Like Mozart wasn't born out of the womb writing his greatest work
But you can take the hynix kits, dial whatever expo you can reasonably expect on either platform and you should be able to get it to run
Or xmp
But even then, 5600 cl32 isn't bad at all
No, but through personal experience and multiple fried PC parts I can confirm that
Yeah, but isn't it defaulted to a slower speed?
All ram defaults to jedec when you put it in
You just need to enable xmp/expo or enter those same numbers manually
It's easy enough to do
I’m gonna act like an old person and say
You’re a magician
https://a.co/d/cYR4qmD not the best deal, but decent

Imo not really a deal
Similar ssds are $40-45 I believe, and similar/better ram kits are $100/sub $100
Wdym
I Bought that laptop . it arrived few days ago . build quality looks alright not the best . performance is pretty much better than my old i5 and 3060 laptop .
if you not caring about battery life you can get this one as well
Oh nice
12700h I think have similar performance but power hungry
hmm actually this looks like worth to share
Do it
Eh I'd still take the lenovo
And I like the tuf lineup
Battery life just such a huge plus for a laptop
battery life is definitely a lot better on the first, and 4060 to 4070 is not much for mobile
Ya that too, 4070m is just the ugly duckling in 40 series mobile
Like 7% faster
Over 4060m
Then 4080m is way above both
Ofc the lenovo might have a lower tdp chip but even still, 7840 is great
yeah some people don't need battery life tho . and tuf have 1tb ssd . I know swapping ssd isn't hard but some people don't want to bother
wait i got confused, i was looking at a diff laptop and thought it was 1260p in the one i posted
ye 7840hs is better
Idk, it's a laptop, battery life should be first place imo
Otherwise you may as well get a desktop lol
I still would pick lenovo couse battery life
Ya
some people carrying laptop around places and keeping it on charge so
Yea but you want the option even still
like hotels when you travel or office to home
If they both had the 7840 instead? I'd 100% take the tuf
After being on Ryzen mobile it's hard for me to go back
I just jumped to ryzen mobile lol my old laptop had i5 12th gen something lol
Temps are just no longer at the forefront of my brain I love it 💀
No fiddling around, it just works
Change mux? Flick the switch off it goes
Running 100%? It's ok not overheating
I working on my small projects when I'm outside so I need battery life . I only using it outside so
It really strikes a note with the enthusiast in me cos everything is taken care of* lol
There's a very good reason me and Foxy love the TUF, it's just a no brainer laptop
laughs in i7 4th gen
I LOVE HASWELL
HASWELL OO RAH
LGA 1150 IS THE BEST PLATFORM
saw this on marketplace, listed less than 24 hours ago, and is about an hour drive from me. current card is a 6700 XT.
should I look into it?
personally i wouldnt bother, kinda small upgrade relatively
also the pic in the PC is a completely different card
it said they upgraded to the card currently in the PC
A 4080
still stupid pic to put there since its not the one lol
350 just felt very cheap so thats why it caught my eye
not really
theyve been retailing for like 500 for at least 6 months
personally id aim for a 6900xt/6950xt if you where to upgrade, but id wait til the 7800xt releases too
fair enough
i just wanna get rid of my 6700 XT ive had nothing but driver issues with it so far
are you the one talking to faclie about that before?
Mhm
I’ve talked with like 3 different people here
I’ve done like everything possible to fix it
ah i see so you wanna get rid of it, and its out of warranty right?
I’ve had it for like a month and a half
Asrock rma never answered me
Otherwise I wouldn’t be looking for another upgrade rn
contacted the seller for a replacement?
I contacted asrock rma but it was from newegg
Try contact newegg for a replacement then btw
I'm trying not to get that rm850x (shift), although wonder if Btier 650 is still fine if I went to a 12700K for just gaming.
atx 3.0
Pcie 5 also & the main thing is cables on the backside instead of opposite the switch & wall cord -- atx is what Intel sort of made. We've been on 2.42 or w/e for a while. Atx3 is separate from "pcie5" connector, although I think this psu just gets an adapter cable.
Anyone know of any good deals on a 34" 1440p ultra wide monitors? Hopefully around $280.
Hmm msi had one for exactly that price I think
Not good refresh rate but anyways
Or there's one for 300$ that have 144hz https://a.co/d/ezuAEiI
AOPEN's 34-inch curved panel monitor with UWQHD resolution delivers the incredible. Crisp, true-to-life colors come alive with the amazing 3440 x 1440 resolution, allowing you to enjoy High-Definition entertainment in the comfort of your home. The wide view angle technology lets you share what’s ...
Appreciate it!
I no longer like Acer stuff, but their monitors are pretty decently priced
it says its past return
Maybe contact support since it's not working correctly rather than a change of mind
as in newegg support?
.
Ye
Might be able to get you a replacement
think it'd be worth trying to get that 6800 XT on marketplace
and returning my 6700 XT
Is the PG velocity better than the Pro RS? (Asrock mobos)
Pg only goes up to z690 but has practically the same amount of things as the Pro just being 20$ cheaper
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813162025 talking about this one? Hmm it's not bad . I got one with 12900k bundle from newegg but still didn't buold it
Bingo
Also just build it already

Pretty good deal ngl
How the hell no tax and no shipping cost 😭
Looking at specs and io it looks like decent mobo . Also pretty design
Either you got tax exempt, aren’t on the checkout process, or you live in the luckiest country/state
Delaware gang
we don't have sales tax
fricking Delaware
I love Delaware
no sales tax , lots of businesses around which is mostly cargo companies, and have good green nature
I'm itching to try the 12700K. Gonna have 2 caseless builds on my desk for a bit. 😂 cooler & ram arrives today. FC140 & the plain Team Expert 6000c30 seemed like a safe bet.
Iol newegg refunded my 12700k + z690 force order and actually shipped it
Free 12700k + msi Z690 force
laughs in free healthcare then cries in 23%
They'll probably ask you to return it
maybe
Let's see
cries in 10% sales tax
Laughs in free health-care and 6.5% sales tax
Okay well you are in a specific situation
cries in private healthcare
Wait your sales tax is 10%?! I thought Massachusetts was bad at 6.25%
cries in free food for only k-6th and untaxed clothes 7.3% is higher than Massachusetts?
Damn
K-8th actually
They just passed though
High schoolers still have to pay
I'd rather get a used 1070 for less than that
I'd get way more for my money
Granted I wouldn't get AV1 that way but I've gone this long without it
For the memes https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1070-vs-Intel-Arc-A380/3609vsm1795939
fal ur better than this
I know it's just a funny haha
lmaooo
I mean the A380 has a sample size of 353, that's hardly reliable
But it's still fun to see the 1070 win by 140%
I've been considering getting a 1070/ti for my plex server, it should do 4k transcode fairly well
I'm boutta add ubm to the filter i stg
What part of "for the memes" do people not get
DID YOU SAY BUY A770?!
ALLLLLL INTEL BUILD BABY
LETS GO
13600K AND A770 FOR THE WIN
Go to sleep slov
Too much ptsd
Ackshually AMD is bad and Intel is good, UBM is the best benchmarking software ☝️🤓
I actually have tested 1070 ti vs A380
Results aren't pretty
That being said the A380 is also a 43w card
Ouch
i wouldnt mind using an intel card but the only ones that seem worth it are the a770 12gb limited
there's still bifrost a770
oh snap 16gb
also i think you meant 16 ya
Intel Better drivers when 💀💀
also aren’t they like dropping out of the gpu market? Or are they still making their next lineup
I could imagine them trying to make a good ass graphics card, and it proceeds to have same lvls of performance as the a770
Yikes
Honestly the a750 is the best intel card, pretty close to a770 for a lot less money
nah intel UHD 630 is goated
Deal? https://a.co/d/d5DIy40

nah
Blah
Which ones a better deal if the 4060 one is priced at 899?
Gotta see for yourself
Check their battery life and other hidden specs from reviews if needed
Well
I have a desktop just need something to bring to school
I have the first one rn but if the second one is better I’m gonna return and buy that one
I’ll save you
Oi, I did that and it worked fine
No i make fun of them
Schools far from home so kinda a hassle to bring to school
Except for the loud boot up and fan
Just buy a 400$ laptop
Also yeah you don't really need a gaming laptop
Something lighter is gonna save your back
Cause if it’s mainly for like browsing, school work and probably like terraria or minecraft then I can certainly find you one
^
And you don’t wanna bring a case for it
Like I mean the 4 inch thick cases to protect your 1000$ laptop
I want a decent pc to run apex
That’s so fragile that it’s practically irreplaceable if it breaks
Does your school have good wifi to play apex on though?
Also apex mobile exists
Off campus so good WiFi
Bro this is a joke
Best Buy? Micro centers? Fine buying from newegg?
Yea there is
Yonkers ny
Or westbury ny
hows a mini gaming desktop? are they worth it for the price?
Depends
Are you keeping it at home?
Also we talking like Itx mini? Micro atx?
Oh ya no
I’ve been in this convo before here so 😭
- You’ll likely need to pack the inside with something so the parts don’t shift.
- You’ll need a outlet to sit near.
- You need to invest in a portable screen which isn’t that bad but likely strict to 1080p unless you’re fine with it.
And depending on which itx build you get, you’ll probably have to make it pretty enough to make it NOT look like a bomb.
Might just do laptop
What’s the price range of a decent desktop? Like a 4070 that is aesthetically good
We talking 1440p? 1080p?
Price range too?
1440
Price range nothing more than 2k if possible
Best if around 1500 but idk if that’s possible
Size preference? Only asking cause of earlier
regular size. im just gonna build another laptop and bring my 3070 one to school
i have two monitors already so could just use on of those. just need to build another gaming desktop
do you want rgb?
yea. aesthetics is important 🙂
and white or black, or a mix of both
asthetics can be different per person, some like rgb some hate it, which is why I asked
white. got a black one rn
and do you need wifi, or are you using ethernet?
ok one minute
ok thanks
For $1770, all white including gpu https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hv9yfy
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
$1650 with black gpu https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jLmQVW
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
from there, you can change gpu as you want
and depending on what gpu you choose, can get this psu instead https://pcpartpicker.com/product/V7t9TW/thermaltake-toughpower-gf1-snow-tt-premium-750-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ps-tpd-0750fnfagx-w
I had this 😭
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
Can also do 7900xtx 5600 in budget, cpu will definitely be a bottleneck at 1440p, and that's with a black gpu https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9HmQVW
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
He lives near an mc, 5600x3:?
ooh yes, 5600x3d bundle from your local microcenter would be great
Cheaper, same price
would still be a bit of a bottleneck, but that's fine. Impossible to avoid a bottleneck in a system
^
whats a bottleneck?
where one component limits another, but it's impossible for there not to be one. Impossible as in completely non doable, not as in hard
in every single system that exists there's a bottleneck
moreso just performance
Cause me with a 13600k and probably a 6900xt on a ddr4 will certainly cost me performance
should i be getting a liquid cooler or a cpu would be enough?
i mean, stock cooler on a 7600 or 5600 is fine
could also go 214xt, $20 and will still be fine
liquid cooling is not needed for either of those cpus, but if you want it go thermalright frozen notte 240 or 360
dirt cheap and great cooler
If you do go with my list (which tbh it’s only good if you’re trying to go cheaper on high end) then you’ll need a cooler
which list is good if im not trying to cheap out?
im just gonna build an insane pc with 4070
4070 is worse than a 6950xt
4070 sucks for price
and costs the same
Ig
4080 expensive?
1000$
or 7900xtx?
That’s half your budget right there
4080 is worse than xtx and costs more
7900xtx is better
i would only go nvidia if buying used, or 4090
how much is 4090,
I've seen XTX for as low as $850, and it beats the 4080 in everything but ray tracing (which sucks anyway in general)
$1500 and not worth it for 99% of people
ok lol
Eh that's microcenter, they do some kind of voodoo magic to get low prices
youre just gaming, right?
not using blender or anything like that?
nope
Only go 4090 in a "no limits" build with a 4k 120Hz+ monitor or for actual work
@azure pond you should give him the 7700x mc deal
Or if you’re markiplier and want two of them
I'd call his a no limits, ridiculous for the status build
Well that's just a badly optimized game, it's not the 4090's fault
I bet if you looked at the "gpu busy" graph it would be very telling
can i ask whats the 7700x mc deal?
In store only, I've seen people walk out with that for cheaper than advertised because of things like new customer coupons.
thanks
25$ off cpu coupon, 25$ off anything If you post a build to their website, uhhh
Like I said, they basically use voodoo magic. Buy a CPU and memory, get a free $200 motherboard.
Ik there’s more but they hide them like a B
^
I bought a 12600k and got a free mobo for 300$, month later i upgraded to the 13600k for a cent
It is 4x16 and z690, so probably won't run at a high speed. If it's got a decent die or xmp could take two of the sticks out
@azure pond At just a glance, how hard do you think it would it be to build an all-new Equivalent for the same price? 12900kf 3080 ti 64gb ddr5 2tb ssd $1250 refurb, from pictures I think it has a850gf for psu https://computers.woot.com/offers/msi-aegis-rs-12tf-252us-gaming-desktop-7
what would be the use? because if gaming you could do better cpu single core for cheaper, and 32gb ddr5 would be better
Ooh, great question; Let’s use maxed-everything 4k120hz Cyberpunk as our example for this case
Not that the referb in question could probably do that though
LOL that requires bare minimum a 4080/7900xtx
How about a baseline, then: Do you think it’s possible to build an all-new equivalent for $1,250?; With Goal of Maximizing frames in Extremely intense games
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G300A (1 Fan) ATX Mid Tower
LOL
Gotta be faster than that
HAHA
That's a nice price on the ram pato has
I'd go for that
And the 670p
Mobo either or, patos is better but doesn't have wifi
Damn these builds are beautiful
yeah
What if we did Intel + NVIDIA only; Impossible?
For the sake of the question, it’s unfortunate we still have people not taking AMD seriously
What say you, @azure pond ?
Pato I stole your list for #cases-psu-and-cooling
Wait
I'm so tired
I meant tech deals
okay lol
I can make you one, but it'll definitely be worse
all good
Let’s head to #building-and-recc-chat
Worse cpu and gpu https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9YvhqR
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600K, GeForce RTX 4070, Phanteks Eclipse G300A (1 Fan) ATX Mid Tower
Fabulous deal. I'd buy that and swap the cooler to something that could run the spec
That's it, the rest would check out as plenty good enough
If gaming, it's a 240mm aio I think, probably the msi core whatever it is v2, which is decent, which should be fine for single core loads
Getting ready for my vacation coming up
inb4 180GB day -1 patch

Would be sadge
Thats not how the procedural generation works.
procedural generation can indeed generate void
Also I just realized this is #tech-deals-discussion and not #general-chat
this is #general-chat
Its not intended to so that'd be odd in the end of it.
Quick, change the name to #New-Better-General-Chat
Bad jokes aside, I believe the main point was "day 1 NMS equivalent"
how good is starfield?
initial Reactions are good so far.
I feel like it'd remind me of cowboy bebop
most people are commending them on the actual lack of bugs
...Did Bethesda promise the world? I didn't pay attention to anything about it besides that first trailer they did
which is surprising given its bugthesda
dows
I now own a copy due to buying a 6950xt and know nothing about the game
anyone wanna answer my question in #building-and-recc-chat btw 👉 👈
I literally know nothing about it other then it should contain a field of stars
Besides space
Oh and that one picture that reminded me of Diamond City tower thingy
Space. 1000 planets. roughly 10% have life as in native flora/fauna. The rest will have procedurally generated caves, mines, forts, habitations etc that could have hostile or friendly humans.
The ship building is modular, space flight is a bit simple compared to SC. Could also skip building ships and just steal someone elses.
The procedural generation should provide somewhat new experiences every time on those 90% "empty" planets. But those planets could also be used by modders for their own content.
What am I gonna do, I dunno. But I do know there are laser swords. So Imma build my own Jedi/sith Empire
I will follow my Fallout 4 instincts and make fleets of cube ships made out of junky looking wood
Yeah lmao
My best guess is that it’ll be a heavy mediocre
Hopefully not another cyberpunk though
Nah people are enjoying it so far.
The reviewers who got early access the biggest complaint was that weirdo talking about the start screen
Guess we’ll see in a couple weeks
Imagine they delay the game to make a new start screen
Look at this weirdo
lmao
The Start Screen is literally fine. 🥲
why does this guy care about start screen so much
He's a weirdo who likes being in the spotlight
You’re on the start screen for a total of 0.005 seconds to click start
He was real quiet on this one last year lol
lol
how else are start screens supposed to look anyway
gotta make it simple and comprehensive
All critically acclaimed games right here that are fantastic^
Should’ve been like super Mario 64 smh
Shoulda been like one of those old Dreamworks movies with all the funny animations and stuff
I mean they all basically follow the formula of
cool picture, dead simple ui
which is fine
but I love uniquely designed and/or animated main menus
i do like animated main menus too
but it's not a requirement to enjoy the game for me anyway
literally unplayable
Y'know what start screen Skyrim had? The word Skyrim and a symbol.
Y’all forgetting about minecraft and terraria 🗣️
What's terraria
Terrain but said by weirdos
You don't know Terarria?
Obviously we should go back to the era in which cover art was painted imagery that didn't accurately represent the product, except this time with main menus. Spend half the budget designing the main menu, that is all that matters
Is there an example of a start screen that isn't the standard "iconic image+menu"
Cuz I can't think of a single one that had some kind of unique start menu
Interesting transitions into the game maybe but
what is a good price for desk
Depends on the quality and size of the desk
trying to fit a 29 inch monitore on it but I’m on budget
i wouldnt get anything cheaper than a ~100$ desk new anyway
ok
Go to your local repurpose store if you have one and look for a good sturdy desk. You can expect to pay sub $50. If you don't have one, check thrift stores to see if they have any sturdy ones.
ok
Anyone have any good price drop trackers like how PCpartpicker used to have
shame they discontinued that feature
Unfortunately I don't think it has links other than Amazon
Uh, says $428 for me WarPig
Oh my typo sry
@polar cliff
Yeah

I'm not sure if getting 6950xt is wise choice anymore
it is better than 4070 but 350w power draw is insane
so does getting 4090 ngl
big perf, big power
but if i say 4090 it'd be normal
logic™
Because 4090 is more powerful
4070 used only 200w but have similar performance and have some features
but F for 12gb vram
Idk hard choice lol
for people who got AMD gpu and using blender
it is very well known how bad AMD is with blender
and to not get one if you're doing blender
Yeah I just wonder why . blender is more vram hungry so how amd falling behind with its huge vrams
Could PL 4090 to 70-80% for a sub-300w avg loading and lose hardly any performance.
Could do https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gYQXC6
or https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QDPWXk first one is ddr4 32gb with a diff mobo for cheaper, and second is 32gb ddr5 with a diff mobo for a bit more
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600K
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600K
if cpu ocing though, that bundle is good
see when i mention 4090 and it consuming a lot of power is fine
i get that it's faster and all but wasn't 3090 also hungry kek
Could of financed the 6950xt at 529.99 for 49$ a month
in a 12 month period
but if I paid 60, could of boosted by dad's credit score 😎
@hard creek idk if it's out of stock or amazon being weird but only showing option as 630 or something for me
Camelcamelcamel doesn't even show it
Finding a job in this market makes me contemplate suicide daily
No
Oh no! Is it here now?
Oh shoot, where is he?
Uk
@grand orbit ur poor btw

I know the feeling and unfortunately can’t upgrade with this killer deal because it’ll only be about a 35% improvement
Skipping every other generation feels like torture
If I was shopping for one I'd get one, got no one who's in the market asking me for one rn tho
That's a nice enough price I break under new retail here
Just amazon being stupid then, sometimes it doesn't show things properly because I'm not in the US

irish, still bri'ish
Legit said uk confidently
and technically aussies are brits
I'm severely cpu bottlenecked with a 3060ti anyway lol

LMAO I thought he was mad because you Doxxed him
Can someone explain the Irish-British Drama in a nutshell
It's the best part of him, he loves being called British
i was just foolin
All Irish people do
You’re going to get me banned
You have no idea how close I am to spilling a generation’s worth of British slander out like a firehose
Do people still say God save the queen on reflex
god kill the queen
Gross
I'm in the US and it doesn't show me $529, only $629
The deal expired a day ago
Sold out and is being sold by a 3rd party
Which I believe is a big supplier considering they sell a lot of XFX cards
Plus if you change sellers to the amazon one, you’ll be able to get free stat field unlike this one
I know, I bought one like, 5 days ago for 589
For $529 I wouldn't care if my 6950xt came with Starfield or not
Coming to game pass day 1 as well anyways
I keep meaning to cancel that
Yo could someone help me find a $500 laptop? Something with a dedicated gpu preferably
...any other requirements?
It has to work
sounds like you're in the market for a used laptop
well like is this gaming laptop lol
that's the question
You can buy some good ones for 300 bucks
300 is too low
since they depreciate like CRAZY
Yeah probably, I just need it to work on low settings in most games, and not overheat immediately
I have a 1660ti and 10300h, 16gb and 1tb thing for 300$
that's one of the rarer findings
I currently have a 5625u with integrated graphics, so something better then that
and people still refuse to go that high
Check the Acer Nitro or Lenovo gaming laptops btw
they're pretty good starters
This thing refuses to play a youtube video while connected to a external monitor lol
I'm actively looking on fb
or get an old Dell G3 for cheap
there's this thing
it's a bid but no one seems to be bidding on it rn
i9 9th gen, idk gpu
probably something like a 2080?
either 1660ti or 2070
tho screen is 4k so do mind that
it's also 8gb ram, but that's an easy fix.
i'd keep an eye on this and bid last min
And there's still 4d left, so There's almost no chance I'll get it for this price
it's a bit of a lottery tho, working but it's like unknown
