Like my cpu shot to 105 on prime95. Never seen it hit 90 any other time
i've seen people try to use cinebench as stability test
i've had meme ocs pass cinebench r20 then crash from opening firefox

Cinebench stable is not stable
so it dropped to 4.6ghz?
all cores are showing 4,998,xxx
oh sorry
take a pic while test is still running
yes 4,597,xxx
Probably at the beginning of the test as it was loading in
i got a 3600 through cinebench at 4575mhz lol
all aroung like 65+/- 4
Amazing stuff
@modern walrus Ok so quit hwinfo and start it again while the test is running
okay just did
StAbLe
Ahh yes stable barbeque grill
1.48V
on ryzen
i got it through cpu-z validation before it crashed
Good AIO?
wanted to get rid of my old cooler
so a customer got it

gave him my old mobo too
Discounted or msrp
jeez how mean do you think i am
discounted
they were basically like new though, i clean my pc every 2 days
and run an air purifier in my room

Oh man the kinda stuff Ive seen people passing off as new in my country
Thats kinda overkill
honestly
if your 10900K is staying in the 90s in prime95 small ffts avx
that's very good
itll be under 80s on normal load
I lost the silicone lottery huh?
oh wow we have 5 throttled cores
5ghz 1.35v is pretty average, you haven't tried to go higher yet
oof
also change the fan positioning on ur rad as I told you to
yeah i dunno my 10700K was slamming against 100C but it was still holding 5.1 all core without throttling clocks
@modern walrus
well you got two options here
- try a lower voltage like 1.3v
- put your faith into a less intense test
3
I just stopped the test. I think I hear my computer crying
his aio fan arrangement is less than ideal
okay I'll send you a picture of the cooling setup
just changing that should improve the temps
so we can all tell me how I just focused on aesthetics & laugh
no need
do as I told you
did he make his aio front exhaust or something
pikachu
that's cool
it's one of those cheapy nightlight things on Amazon w/ a light for a gpu
he has slow fans as push and fast fans as pull
I also put RGBs in my video card cuz it was boring w/o it
ok now remove your rad and then swap the fans around
I guess I can take out the top fans & put the radiator there
no they're pushing hot air into the case... ya bad idea I know
no u
thanks for your help
Those push air in too
But not much since they only have those little side openings
Id put front intake back and top exhaust
& it sucks cuz you can't put a radiator up top with the 200s there because you have to take this out
I wonder if that fits upside down...
Ugh are you even listening to me at this point?
yes yes
it wasn't bad until I moved the radiator from the top to the front
to fit those 200s cuz they were pretty
but ya pretty isn't functional I know
it used to just be the radiator on the top with the 120s pushing
So listen this is how I would redo ur cooling layout
ok
H500P Mesh
1x 140mm Coolermaster Halo
2x 200mm Coolermaster MF200RGB
rather MF200ARGB
1 little Noctua as an extra exhaust
uh I'll show you a picture to explain that in a second
and then 2x 200mm Thermaltake Riing Trio (front)
that's the Noctua cuz I figured it would pull heat off the GPU
it's my first build sorry for clownin
oh plus the 3x 120mm fans that came with the AIO
ok gimme 2 mins
which btw the AIO is CoolerMaster ML360P Silver
so pull inwards with the 2 200mm fans
on the front?
yep
ok
then top mount rad
ok
with the 3 stock fans on the underside so they take air from your case and throw it upwards into the rad
stock meaning the ones that came with ur rad
I'm trying to learn from the mistakes on this build for my next build
and keep ur little noctua
tbh
keep those as the only fans imo
not the 140mm Halo exhaust fan??
nowhere really to put it
You can put it at the back blowing into the pc
maybe but I'd have to get nuts & bolts because it's too close to mobo to tighten a screw on one side
or the two screws on one side I mean
dew it
Bruh
I overclocked my RAM at 3800MHz like a few days ago
My pc started restarting itself today
So i ran a memtest86
It shows this error
What should i do to fix it?
Put ram back to stock speeds and test again
Go back to that then and start OC testing again
OC testing as in i have to keep it at 3666 test it once, increase it, test it again and stuff?
Yes
Damn that's gonna take a lot of time to do lol
So my only option is to decrease it?
If you're getting errors, yes, or reduce timings or increase voltage
So tighten timings or increase voltage. Got it
Ah ok. I have never changed the timings after changing it from 3666 to 3800
And I'm not really good with the timing and stuff. If you're free, could you help me out with that?
I'm no expert either and it depends on what chips are in your ram sticks and many other things. Best resource out there: https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/master/DDR4 OC Guide.md
Got it thanks
And if i should increase my voltage, what voltage should i increase and by how much?
Depends entirely on what chips you have. Start with Thaiphoon Burner to figure out what IC's they are then hit the guide for recommended max voltage, timings, speeds, etc
The chips on the ram sticks
It's important to know what they are so you know what the overclock and voltage limits are
You should be fine with 1.5v on b die
But the IF on the CPU won't go past 3800 mhz most likely
and unlinking them will result in slower performance
For DRAM voltage, it's at 1.5
My CPU is running at 3800Mhz now
Not the CPU itself
Not your cpu your fclk
10 errors as of now
Turn off
Go back
1900
Ryzen 9 3950x
Corsair vengeance RGB pro kit
Yeah you're cpu fclk probs cant go to 1900
4 x 8GB
speed and timings?
Idk the timings but it's at default. I didn't change the timing from the beginning. Now it's at 3800Mhz
It's CL19
What ram kit exactly, got a link?
Hold up lemme send it
What's the xmp speed and timings you can check by temporarily turning on xmp and checkup what it changes to if you can't find link
This is the one i have now
But i got like 4 of them instead of 2
So basically 4 x 8gb
3950x you say?
Max fclk on that will be like, 1800 maybe 1866
NO wonder it's pitching a fit XD
You paid a grand for 64gb of ram?
More of a zen 3 thing tbh
32gb but yes
Ah i see. So I'll decrease just by one level?
I'd run 3666
1900mhz fclk -> 3800mhz ram
And see how that goes
Because my dumbass thought i could get max performance by tuning it at 4266Mhz
for 1:1
But still
Without knowing that it's impossible without a lot of manual tuning
whatever
That's what i have now
It's running at 3800Mhz
Yeah but getting errors so need to take down
no need for memtest86
Then do 3666 and tighten timings
having to boot again for memtest86 is annoying
True that but i when i ran another OCCT test, it said i had no errors
That's the thing. I am struggling to understand how to do that lol
So what timings do you have atm?
Your primary ones
First 4 or 5
Go into the memory overclocking area
Well considering we want to change them might as well find in bios lol
I have stopped my current test since it gave back a lot of errors
So just to make sure, it's not possible to get anything above 3666?
In a stable way?
Ehhh possible but unlikely
Yeah
Should i increase the CPU frequency from 3800 to say something like 4200 or something
3950x doesn't like much above 1800 fclk
Soc voltage?
try 1.15v soc
It's at 1.15V now
oh well, not much more you can do to help fclk to chug along
vddp can help if too
This is my current voltage values
is good then
see if .9 vddp helps
those voltages are more for zen3 since it isnt as picky as zen2
auto
Gonna have to manually speed and time that kit
Changed it to 0.95 now
True that lol
I'll just reduce it for now
I'm gonna have it at 3733 and 1866 fclk
That's an awkward number some cpus wont even post on the intervals btw
you can leave memory clock on auto 2133 and run occt large to test if
I ran memtest at 3666mhz and had no issues
It's only when i increased it to 3800 I'm getting these issues
For how long was the test btw?
I'm running the memtest at 3733 now
Almost 2 hours and it wasn't even done
But you did auto timing btw?
leave memory on auto
But wouldn't that decrease the performance?
doesnt matter
Like it would likely set it at 2133
is it your memory or if that's unstable in testing?
Fitz is just saying that to test stability
Just unstable in testing at high feq by sounds of things fitz
Yea i get that but i have previously run the test at 3666 mhz with no issues. Is it still necessary to do that?
Hey so I have a ram kit that won't post in xmp if I were to try manually doing it how would I approach that? Or if it won't hit the rated speeds in xmp is it not worth my time
tested it at 3733Mhz now. Its working fine
it passed all tests perfectly
Is the most likely culprit of L0 Cache errors too little voltage? Is that better solved by ticking up voltage or leveling LLC up (from level 4 to 3)
anyone here mine on a 3060? currently at around 48 mh/s at +50 core +1300 mem and 60% power limit, not sure if that can be improved too much. temps are about 55 core/65 mem average
That's pretty decent. My 3060 is stable mining up to +1400 but each one is going to be slightly different
whats ur hashrate on that?
46 MH
oh damn
I have my core on -105 though, 106W
Yours is slightly stronger than mine than, nice
zotac gpus strong ๐ช ๐ค
Ok so now you are on amd right?
download cpuz and zen timings
ok so now run zentimings and send me a screenshot
ok
and then run cpuz go into the spd tab and then chose slot 2 and send another screenshot
1 sec
mhm
Fuk
trp 20
and tras to 43
Pls stop pinging
tcl could be called cas latency
it should be under that
and look around for trp on whatever mobo u have. I gtg for a bit will help when I return if you still cant find it
yes
okay... my OC made it 11 hours & 53 minutes on OCCT w/o error or crash before I ended it. Is it a stretch to call that stable? lol
temp maxed out at 89 but averaged 68
-HWiNFO
Voltage 1.274-1.320 (min, max)
Sounds fairly damm stable
It's only at 5.0gHz/core but I can live with that
Took me like 30 something hours of trial & error lol
Yea what's a reasonable amount of time in a stress test to determine if memory is stable? I ran an hour long pass in OCCT earlier and it passed but then booted up aida64 to just make sure cpu temps were alright after enabling PBO and memory caused errors in under 30 seconds. Is a variety of tests more important than duration?
I even moved my darn radiator
I was thinking I'd run prime95 on it but that's like hitting it with a sledgehammer
I also ran cinebench & UBM on it a few times now
UFO UFO UFO ๐
Cinebench results r meh cuz I have it -2 on AVX. Any higher tends to cause instability
||discord triggers avx offsets||
Hey using TM5 to test my memory what indication would it give if it failed?
I walked away from my computer for a while and it went to sleep and I don't think it failed but I just restarted it since I don't really understand TM5 tbh๐
Never tried it
I figured it out when my computer just gave me a bluescreen
Yaa
when you come back it should give you a box saying "testing succeeded" or something
make sure you're running the "extreme@anta7777" preset
that's pretty reasonable. Of course there's always a small chance it's slightly unstable. Use it for a few days, and if you don't crash, you're probably fine
@clever epoch thanks. I was playing RE2 & it crashed but I haven't located the issue yet. I turned the OC on my graphics card a slight amount. No issues yet since
if it crashed your computer it was probably CPU. If it was just the game then it's probably GPU
on occassions, you'll get an unstable cpu crashing cpu intensive games
like bfv will crash the game rather than the computer if you're marginally stable
great so I'm not stable yet
OC is not easy trying to balance voltage & temps.
I'd love to try for 51 core ration but there's no way I can keep the voltage decent
Plus I'm not convinced I'd get any noticeable gain from it
ratio not ration
@tall pelican
as low as is stable
so no recommendations or starting points as such?
Any idea why I get error running OCT w/o AVX but w/ AVX runs okay?
anyone try Intel IPM for auto-overclock?
results were meh. It bumped the Core clocks but left the Ring clocks alone if anyone is interested
Auto overclocks are usually near-useless at best, straight up harmful at worst
Your overclock is unstable but you have enough of an AVX offset that AVX loads are stable
Yes I fear 5.1gHz just isn't in the cards
Hey so I'm currently going back and forth with patriot support trying to get my ram to run at 3600mhz for my 5600x, I know a higher infinity fabric clock is ideal but is it better enough to say go from 3333cl16 to 3600cl19?
What'st he XMP on the ram rated for
3600cl18
Ok that's what I was wondering is if the increased FLCK was worth the change in memory timings, since ik 3200cl16 and 3600cl18 are the same 10ms, I knew the 1800 FLCK was ideal I just wasn't sure at what point
Thanks
YW
Well points for patriot support staff responding somewhat quickly but I'm so tired of messing with memory speeds and timings looks like it took cl21 to get 3600 stable. Is that still worth it compared to the 3333cl16? Or do I just need to play around with a bunch of different benchmarks and different combinations to find a good balance
NO, return that kit. Fight them about it
Alright
cl21
what does overclocking mean and how does it effect games?
Essentially, you're setting various parameters so you can exceed the OEM specs of your hardware
i.e. make your hardware perform above the rated specifications
If it's done right your games will increase a few fps but that really depends on what you overclock and how far you overclock them, the larger the overclock the larger the gains
thanks
It can be a long & difficult process. The easiest way to do it is to let Intel do it for you if you have a 9th, 10th, or 11th gen Intel processor
probably not something i need to look into as a novice
but it's not as rewarding as achieving it yourself
just checking i wasnt missing something important for my first build
took me 30+ hours & total trial & error. This forum is very helpful. The users here are very knowledgeable. I had no idea what to do like less than 72 hours ago
You can OC your GPU (easiest), CPU (harder), & RAM (haven't tried but supposedly very difficult)
thanks
@zenith palm knows way better than I do lol
Just remember overclocking comes with some extra heat to your system
And power use
Took me multiple hours over multiple days to finish a RAM oc
took me 1 hr for gpu oc
and like 2 for cpu
Whatcha end up with your gpu oc?
I won ram, gpu and cpu silicon lottery
Nice lmao
hangs about an hour into games
Well x570 board helps with the cpu bit
Fair enough
I mean its a 3600x that does 4.4ghz all core at 1.28V witout crossing90C on the mini version of a hyper 212
cpu very nice bin
mini hyper 212 btw because corsair case is dumb
Ahh
Cant fit larger coolers
corsair carbide spec 1
Might buy a new case or an aio
New case probs better investment
Yeah
Better gpu cooling too
banned in my country...
Floppa gets 2-3$ on his 4gb 570
we have same mem clock iirc
but yee ill be mining for the 4 hrs that im asleep if at all I mined
rest of the day im using my pc
so really no point
@zenith palm he is mining eth classic i think
Ohh that makes bit more sense i think
i need help
i got msi afterburner and dont know how to overclock
I used gpu tweak 2 before

no I just dont know how to bring GPU to 1440mhz like it was before
I can only OC memory
Watch video, he explains afterburner towards the end, what all the settings do
gpu clock still at 1290mhz
COre MHZ, click it, + 150, hit enter then checkmark
โจ still nothing โจ
memory clock works
Like in a game
no
1290
Do you have other GPU software running
Did you restart after you uninstalled?
So it's peaking under load
that doesn't sound right
1873mhz isn't the way to go
as soon as I close afterburner the fans spin slower
tf
Hm it should work
won't it use too many resources?
gpu tweak worked in the background
Min eis using 15 MB ram lol
I mean, I have 8gh 1600mhz ddr3
You can close it and it will keep the oc settings
yea but the fans settings don't seem to do the same
why is it taking so long to restart
Probably because it starts with Windows and it's already in your tray on the bottom right?
Might be yes
then I shall not let it open on start up
would be annoying when I'm late for online class
gpu tweak had some kind of system optimizer, closed some background apps and liberated some memory
It shouldn't be delaying windows start like that
Mine adds literally nothing to my boot time lol
5900rpm HDD gang
something is wrong
why does it go up to 1850mhz
and ends up sounding like a fighter jet
guess I'll go back to gpu tweak
why is it so gimmicky
Why is what so gimmicky?
afterburner
I don't understand, you set your stuff, click disc icon, click profile, set it to start with Windows and forget it exists XD
I set the gpu clock to +150, that should normally he 1440mhz which is fine, but it ends up running at 1870mhz
1050TI?
ya
I've been running it at 1440 for a long time and it works fine
Set it all back to stock and just increase power limit and hit the check mark
wait
Are you looking at the VRAM clock?
I don't understand why you're having issues with afterburner TBH. Are your drivers up to date?
they are
everything else is fine except core clock
it ends up getting too hot and it doesn't even give extra performance
Is this accurate? I haven't heard about this being a thing or is it just Patriot's crappy dimm's that have issues.
I figured as much, I'm about to just yell at them and say "If you know that Ryzen struggles with 3600mhz 16gb dimm's why do you sell this kit and blatantly advertise it as "Amd optimized"" I have 2x16
I'm just bummed I wasn't able to find this out back in November when I bought the kit because of GPU's so we'll see what I can convince patriot to do
Yeah, that's a load IMO
Unfortunately I'm kinda figuring at this point the best I'll get out of them is to rma this kit and get sent another kit that probably won't work any better.
Maybe the RMA kit will work
That's the hope at least. I'm gonna be real sad if I rma it and don't have a desktop for a week or two because of it and then they're not any better
ok I reinstalled msi afterburner and restarted my pc
I think I found the "issue"
it already boosts to 1440 even tho its set to 0
i think the OC settings stayed
I'll run a game and see if it goes over 1440
if my 1050ti breaks I only have a radeon hd 5670
1696mhz
why
I don't get it
piece of crap
how much can I sell the 1050ti for?
I don't want this pc anymore
150 $ i think
sounds like its about to take off to the moon
how to overclock my keyboard lmao

yes

That was one of the many things they had me try yea
Higher voltages appeared to be even less stable
Wow what a classic 'we refuse to help you, it's not our problem' answer they gave. "Limited by the ryzen cpu" I call BS
Oh yea they're sticking to their guns that it's Ryzen they didn't address any of my other points in my last email just that its only a ryzen problem and they hope amd will fix it
It's completely the IC they used, especially if that's really the xmp profile 3600c22.
Bad IC won't respond well to more voltage anyway.
Yup but I'm well out of return window having bought them in November and been unable to test them until a few weeks ago. So right now it looks like yell at them and get sent another kit with bad IC's or try and sell the kit to someone with an intel system hoping it will actually work for them and buy a new kit
Checking if the kit works on an intel pc is something I might be able to get a local computer shop (if I can find one) to do right?
Yes, I'm sure most local places that do builds will help you
hows my ram oc
($53 oloy kit)
spektek ics
(spektek micron b die)
reject micron
So loosen timings to cl18 and 3600, see if it posts, occt or tm5 mem test then tighten timings to try go back to 16-18-18-40 or something
Rev b micron is seen in kits rated at 4400c19
Something is screwy of that's the best you an do
FCLK with AMD 3100 cpu
I wasn't suggesting they try 4400c19, just pointing out that it should be able to do much better
8gbit revb is ๐ฉ (guessing since xmp is 3000c16 that its 8gbit)
Ah true it's probably 8Gb
lol
its bad bin rev e
spektek
i wanna be at cl16
tho
Yeah but to start you loosen timings, on Ryzen the higher fclk is important
Then you can tighten back down to possibly cl16
But 3600cl17 or cl18 would be fine
ik
but i got better
with cl16
3600 cl17 isnt possible
highest ive gotten is 3733mhz cl18-22-22-42
and i cant even change subtimings
Meh
I'd just do 3600cll18 with tighter timings, you're probs already stressing the fclk on a 3rd gen cpu
If you disable gear down mode you can have odd numbered cl, but it might not be stable unless you change command rate to 2 which hurts a lot

if anything i found a few other good ones
this ones just white lol
nvm its not very good
cpu side it should be fine, I'd more lean towards gigabyte z590 elite for that price range though
neither will have cpu die voltage sense, and msi memory overclocking is
Hey anyone good with overclocking have a minute to help me out I'm attempting to overclock my ram but I'm stuck I can't get the d.o.c.p settings to work
what die you got?
DOCP is XMP timings
If you're overclocking DOCP won't apply anyway because you'll be manually setting speed and timings
^
It's gskill 3600 ca14 2x8
what die is that tho
3600 C14 is most likely B die
Or maybe CJR
Might be
How do I check?
thaiphoon burner
Taiphoon is unreliable but it will give you a guess
Well not like the sticker is always right either
It's not that unreliable lol
It said my corsair vengance 3200c16 was b die ;-;
It said Samsung b die
it said my 3200c16 ripjaws kit was samsung b as well
Could have been low bin B die
Was c die :/
SAME
3600c14 is bdie
And thaiphoon reads all 8gbit samsung as bdie
Its not really thaiphoon's fault since the spd wasn't programmed with the data
It says it's b die
@tall pelican is this good for c die?
Seems fine, as long as its stable
its stable over 6 hrs of extreme anta
@lavish tundra do you think you could help me out?
Ask fitz tbh
He knows FAR more than me

ok so this isnt really overclocking but
my rx580 has been having issues and i read up online on help forums that upping the voltage on the vram can help fix them
but i dont know how much is safe to do so
You can't control VRAM voltage, that's for the core.
Vram voltage on a polaris card should be a fixed 1.5v, so don't think that's it
You can use a vbios editor
imma just underclock the vram then
its just easier
if you care what the issue was, its that my 580 keeps crashing randomly in games
someday i can game for hours with nothing, some days i play something like gta5 and it crashes in 10 minutes
My cpu hit 420 hz and it started smoking what do I do

4.2
Anyone got a guide for overclocking ram?
@quick rose Jesus christ I'm sorry dude lol. I thought you were showing me the channel not the actual comment
1.5V safe on sk hynix ram?
No
Suggestions? I was thinking of increasing to 1.45
But haven't found any documentation
There probably is documentation but I cant visit certain websites
Okay thanks. How would I figure out the ic?
Depends on the manufacturer, corsair and gskill have codes on the label
if i'm overclocking a Ryzen 5 5600x should i go with liquid cooling? or would air cooling be fine
Get an arctic freezer aio
a scythe fuma 2 would also suffice plenty
I'd lean towards an aio for 5600x since it'll do better at keeping the entire cpu colder, as opposed to needing everything to heat up in order to dissipate heat
Yes aio would be better but if under more budget i guess
you can get even a coolermaster 120 for like $40
sure for sustained heavy loads
if you're running just a few cores in games, the liquid temp will remain low, and give about the same performance as a 240-280
i see
whats a pc
Printed sand go brr
For my 3070 it has a tdp of like 220w and it stops at 100% in afterburner, should i flash the bios to the strix model or something to get better oc?
You could.
You think the extra 100w would help much that would make it worth my time though?
It could, moreso if you have a big cooler
its a 3 fan one? gigabyte gaming oc
should be enough right?
Can't hurt ot try
Okay thanks
Well it could hurt if it's an incompatible bios or a bad flash...
In what way could it be incompatible, and its a dual bios card so i wouldn't be in trouble I'd be able to reflash the old one
2 8 pin vs 3 8 pin shenanigans, or if the higher power limit is too much for your cooler
Dual bios you're fine to play around with it
Ahh okay thanks
3070 strix is 2 8 pins iirc
noob question, i made my 5600x core clock 4.8ghz in bios and now my pc just sits at 4.78ghz idle, is overclocking supposed to keep the pc at the selected speed and not "relax" and is this bad for the cpu in the long run?
2 things:
1: task manager (if its remotely accurate) will always under report cpu speed
this is 5.3
2: dont use manual speed or voltage on ryzen 5000, pbo is safer and will do better than manual overclocking
alright ill try pbo enabled again without manual ocs, i think it was cuz with it enabled running cinebench or furmark cpu burner didnt even push it to 4.6ghz
yeah, in all core heavy workloads, it'll throttle down to remain safe
raise your power limits (ppt, edc and tdc), and as long as vcore and frequency are on auto, the cpu will self govern to stay safe
and pbo scalar on 1x (sometimes auto will go 4x or 10x and nuke the cpu)
see it
5600x right?
yep
go 150 ppt, 100 for edc and tdc
any other settings I should change?
you can mess with curve optimizer, it helps with heavy multi core loads, but testing stability is finicky
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU5qLJqTSAc&t=1241s&ab_channel=bosmang does a good job of explaining
In this video I explain what AMD Precision Boost Overdrive 2 (PBO 2) including the Curve Optimizer. I also present a good method for obtaining optimal settings for you AMD Ryzen 5000 processor. Also some graphs, what is a tech video without graphs?

alright thanks, I'll use pbo with ur settings for now and maybe play with curve optimizer later
Is it okay to overclock to max settings?
Depends on what you're referring to
Max voltage, not neat
Max power limit, ye do it
"not neat" ๐ that's as hilarious as much as its solid advice
I almost want to try maxing the voltage on my old 8300 now
Maybe I'll get a LN2 pot and go for world records, or maybe it will literally go up in smoke
I know keep is selling his pot and inferno pretty cheaply
can i overclock ram by just upping the voltage and frequency? Or do i need to mess with the timings too
k
Sometimes just upping the frequency works but won't be as good results as tuning timings
I wonder if my 32GB Gskill Trident Z 3200 could do 3600. Not sure if I feel knowledgeable enough to mess with timings though.
what die
Probably 3600cl18 depending on which die you have
use thaiaphoon burner and tell what die it uses
It claims Bdie. I also checked the ID that Thaiphoon gives for the sticks and went to the Samsung listing on their website which also claimed Bdie, but I don't know if it's accurate or not. I haven't pulled the sticks yet to read the ID right off the sticks.
Yeah i think g skill have a model number on the sticker
32GB
Unless it's like 3200cl14
I suppose yeah
larger capacity lower timings

intel or AMD?
Intel.
ah ok
how does that matter lol?
I could link a video that shows step by step instruction on memory tuning on AMD
its basically the same on both platforms tho...
yes, but the video I have in mind specifies tools that specifcially made for AMD. using 1usmus' tools
Clock tuner for Ryzen?
Don't use that
Overvolts your CPU, it's bugged
Ask the HWbot folks
CTR told me to daily 1.35V lmao
I didnt see any CPU changes. was just for getting memory details and telling you what memory you have and changes to memory setting in bios
dont have access to channel
ok. gotcha. Learn somehting new every day
btw, yes thats the tool that was in the videos I was going to link
aye yo I just hit 4.5 on 1.25 on all eight cores on a 3700x did i do a good job?
im like new so plz dont flame
1.25v?
no my b 1.125
What?
No way that's stable
that'll do it
wym
Yeah
what is prime 95
Stress test
not a voltage you can run daily
ah
Silicon lottery but not a daily one
Degradation
told you
Yea
Yeah getting into windows shouldn't be taking into consideration
I don't think he even booted into windows
he said he's using RM so he just set it after booting
Idk mb yeah
recommendation: Don't bother with an all-core OC for your 3700x unless you're planning on running all core workloads all the time.
Just go into BIOS and adjust your PBO settings. If you have a reasonable cooling solution (good air cooler/AIO, NOT the stock cooler) you can run 130W PPT, and set your TDC and EDC to ~70A (probably more)
or just set it to automatic PBO if you don't want to play with it
Auto oc is bleh at that stage just do pbo
don't bother with autoOC. If you want something easy, just enable PBO
I have a 240mm watercooler from corsair
Reason: Bad word usage
Good to know
Yeahh
But i thought it did with ryzen master
But apparently it doo doo
So ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Well thank yall ๐
don't bother with software OC tbh. You have to use the BIOS to do anything significant
Just use cinebench or p95 r sum
OCCT works too
Ye but they already have 1 of those i think
The ryzen master stress test is a scam
Just to test it out I slapped on 4.6 all core at 1.298V on my 3600x
It said it was fine
Crashed the pc while opening hwinfo

Lol
so uh my cpu is somehow overclocked after i turned cbs for ryzen off, and set it to auto and i dont want the cpu overclocked should i just reset the bios to default settings and just re do my ram overclock? or where should i look to put the cpu to the original mhz speed?
may I ask, what's the benefits to overclocking?
Internet flex points
extra performance
Just use pbo it's better than auto oc
Pbo is good enough tbh
No there's an actual auto oc in Ryzen master
sarcasm
I think they're confusing boost with overclock TBH
sounds like it
It didn't come off that way lol
i have t-force vulcan z ram rated for 3000mhz is it safe to oc it to 3200mhz
whats pbo
Are you sure it's not just normal processor boosting? they all boost normally...........
Pbo is precision boost overdrive but as vintage said it's most likely just the processor boosting which is what they all do
idk its at like 3,8 ghz instead of 3,6
it spikes to 3,9 sometimes
What cpu
ryzen 5 3500x
oh
Okay, let me start by conceding that probably everyone in here knows way more about this than I do. That said--I've been trying to grasp this conceptually for a few weeks now--can someone please tell me where my logic is flawed here? Obviously, y'all know how LLC works. I'm concerned here with the first 2 Modes. i.e. Mode 2 is flat (no decrease with increased load on CPU). Mode 1 actually increases voltage with load, unlike Modes 3+. After 5 years of being an electrician, I know W=AV, i.e. wattage can be increased by increasing amps or volts. Electrical wires are broadly rated for voltage, but strictly rated for amperage. Common US commercial systems are typically 120 or 277v per phase. So, for example, a 2000w light would (ignoring 3-phase calculations for simplicity) need 16.67 amps at 120 volts. That same 2000w light would only need 7.2 amps at 277v, the difference between requiring #12AWG wire vs #16AWG wire or a lot more copper to transmit the same wattage. Accordingly, it would make sense to me that rather than setting LLC to drop or maintain constant voltage under load, the most electrically efficient approach is to allow voltage to increase with load. Again, lower voltage needs higher amps. Where voltage & conductor size are constant, increasing amperage results in more heat which in turn increases resistance (ohms). I guess what I'm trying to understand conceptually is why overclocking focuses much more on CPU voltage rather than CPU amperage when the limiting factor on performance of hardware in most instances is temperature. i.e. if your CPU wants 150w, it needs 125 amps at 1.2v but 115.4 amps at 1.3v
which in theory means, 1.2 v would result in greater heat production than 1.3v
ngl, I stopped reading at the "after 5 years of being an electrician" part, but voltage is being read from a superio that guesses at what voltage is
uh to sum it up, more amps=more heat. more volts=less amps.
I think you missed the part where amps = volts/resistance
so why is running CPU at 1.28 volts better for it than running it at 1.38 volts? In theory the latter produces less heat
more volts = more amps
In a perfect scenario yeah but PCs are far from ideal
but watts=amps x volts
watts = v^2 /r
Wouldn't resistance be constant?
no
there's four parts to Ohm's Law, voltage, amperage, resistance, and power (typically measured in watts)
semiconductors change resistance when electricity is applied to them
more work the cpu does, more amps it pulls
to get the cpu to do more work, you increase the frequency, and to increase frequency, it needs more voltage
so does if you increase voltage do you increase or decrease resistance in a semi-conductor?
