Cool. raid 5 like 0+1? ah, I'll google. Indeed, I only really used a single drive for a long time. Currently (pic) , the old Win 7 hdd is maybe 100GB of various stuff besides it's steam copy.
Yeah, raid 5 has the speed of 0 and some of the redundancy from 1
The third drive is used as a parity drive for error checking, I had issues with old data corrupting previously and lost 3 years of taxes
Raid 10 is a true combo of 1 and 0, using 4 drives
interesting, i see these 1st pics showing 4 drives. that'll be some good reading. Ah, i might recall this a bit. whether 2 drives in raid 1 or your setup, at least 1 drive is redundancy. Right, raid 10 also. All these options, pretty neat.
Yeah, most people don't need to worry about raid volumes but they're fun and challenging to work with. Building a NAS is a project I'm doing down the line, after a custom loop.
Raid 0 everything and live on the edge of failure and extreme speed
I have my bulk storage in raid 0
The days of the WD velociraptor. 10 of those in raid 0 huh.
Nah, get some of the 4x4 M.2 adapters so you can use PCIe x16 slots with 4 drives each
I'm pretty sure crystal disk mark would bug out from the sheer speed
raid/nas is mostly some less hassle instead of personally copying stuff around? Hmm, with all the pcie slots, I actuallly would like nvme drives to slot in there also. I mean I'd like to do that, I know they're a thing.
I hate sata add in cards with a fiery passion
Hang them off a chain sata power thing just outside the panel of your case
You can do a lot more with a nas, like setting it up so you can access your files from across the planet and making the files accessible to others, even when your pc is off
In all honesty @potent portal is completely correct and I’m just messing around 👀
For sure, raid itself is not crazy/complicated while a nas is .... idk how to phrase, but I've seen nas boxes. they're "smarter", or can be
Honestly it’s simpler especially with all the new services companies offer. Nas storage isn’t that bad from what I understand
Modern nas boxes can be pretty intelligent yeah. There's some you can slap drives into and it'll ask simple questions about your storage habits and needs, and format the drives and create arrays automatically.
Then when you add more drives later they just auto add to the array
i recall reading in the past maybe you have a certain setup and over time a nas or w/e it was would automatically backup files to extra drives in various ways. The cool thing is all the slots. yeah, drives can be removed/replaced quickly
There's some that have cloud services included at no extra charge. I saw one with 10tb cloud backup for free, not sure if that offer is still good though.
That'd be quite a bit of cloud storage for sure
By contrast, google drive only offers 15gb for free
Even dropbox has a lower limit than they used to
They send me emails every day telling me to delete data or I can't backup more
Well yeah, I had space before you removed it
Yeah, they gotta charge if we use too much of that storage that's actually on a certain drive somewhere across the country.
Oh god speaking of rising cloud storage prices… this is totally off topic but have you seen the like ring knockoffs that save your 1080p recordings for free? Super sketchy.
Well, it being the cloud means it's likely scattered across multiple drives and locations
I'd buy one of those cameras just to run a packet trace and see where they send it, probably china
My brother and I talk about it whenever we’re being recorded at my moms place
It's late. I should get to sleep, and tell my google tv goodnight also so my fbi agent feels loved
Lol gn
haha, g'N. For a min I'm trying to figure out steam w/ the game drive hooked up. I guess I need to move or re-name a certain folder.
LMFAO good night falcie
Add a steam library, it's in settings
I'm going to sleep for real now
i did. no biggie. See ya. Perhaps someone else will give input. Dang , it is pretty late though I noticed.

Wat

@bitter mason build looking nice!
sucks I had to remove that piece but I appreciate you saying
Which piece btw?
Believe they're on about the cable hider thing on the side in the 5000d
Ah
cable hider on the bottom
Ahhhhh
check #build-pics
I see it
ya fat ass LF rad make it not fit
it would fit with 15mm fans but I don't really wanna spend anymore money on it since (I hope) it won't be mine sometime in the not so distant future
& I doubt if I invest in more fans I'll recoup those costs
all those fans that are in there I had in my other build for a few months then upgraded
@bitter mason can you send a pic of the thing you took out? Might be able to push it up against the shroud the other way?
he wouldnt be able to due to the length of the psu shroud
that part is meant for thin rads, anything more chonky and it doesnt work unless you want to do some cuts
Here is my collection of fans without a home
yes [insert onlyfans.com joke]
the land of misfit fans
like aside from the 200mms they're just a random assortment of fans without a home
well the 3x CM silver ones could go somewhere but eh
anyway to find out what fans the lian li lancool 205 comes with?
um lian li website?
amazon questions say it includes 2 120mm fans
trying to figure out which ones
they are not argb
the mesh version includes 3 rgb fans
Would you be able to slide that in to make a makeshift shroud closing?
hmm I'm not sure tbh.
I can't force it to the side of the fan
& I can't force the fan back enough to put it where it goes
I got really close by taking out the screw on the bottom left fan but it's still millimeters away from getting in there
Damm it wouldn't fit it out put the bottom bit in first?
sadly, no
I tried just about everything
wait
waaaait
wait hecking wait
why didn't I think of this?
okay you see how the hoses for the AIO are at the top?
that area has no fans
much thinner
hoses down might fit
Hi, i have been wanting to build a new pc for a while now but as getting a gpu for a reasonable price is pretty impossible I have decided to just upgrade what I have right now. Im currently running a Rx 5700 with a 3600x and corsair DDR4 300mhz in some random case form amazon. What should I upgrade first?
yeah thats pretty much what I thought, what RAM do you suggest?
Arctic freezer 280mm or 360mm depending what ur case can do
If you wanna future proof
I kinda want to go itx
Gammax 400v2 or se224xt or vetroo V5 for budget
like the cooler master nr200
And Frost spirit 140 for mid
ok
That's gonna be pricey fyi, new case, new mobo, new psu, only some coolers will fit
true
I need to upgrade my gpu im not sure what’s something good enough that isn’t very expensive I currently have the rx560 gonna be playing modern fps games need something to keep up only looking for 1080p 120+ fps
What's your current specs, and whats your budget?
Have i5-12600k, ddr4 3600 cl16 16 gb, 650 psu I’m not looking to spend a crazy amount but something that will work and can keep up
What 650w psu and gonna need a number that is a very different meaning to everyone
Corsair cx650 80+ bronze
Okay, decent psu, but still gonna need a number
I don’t really wanna go over $650 trying to keep it budget
6600xt/3060/3060 ti/6700xt/3070/6800/3070 ti/6800
I’ve seen 3060 and they was like 800 never seen any of those being close to 600 I haven’t really looked at any rx 6000 series
I’m in the US and I don’t have any micro centers even close to me and our Best Buy got destroyed by a storm so just gotta look online and anytime something drops I’m at work lol it sucks
It has a few online options on there too
What is the best pc under 100 usd
3060 should not be $800, that's my worthless opinion for the morning. 😅👍 ray tracing isn't all that common in most games, so a 20 series is viable too. Of course new cards are sparse these days. Mining needs to bust already for a bit more supply.
I just don’t wanna get something so old that I have to upgrade in a year or less and doesn’t seem like the higher levels of the 20 series are much different in price than the 3060
3060 falls somewhere around 2070 and 2070 super in performance
3060ti is closer to 2080 super
1080 Ti still stomps (perf/watt just lower), Nvidia drivers still support 600 series, lol. 2080/Super/Ti are viable as well, if we find a decent sale. Seems it's mostly about spending a certain amount & getting enough performance to last a while. 40 series won't be cheap. I wish I got a 1080 ti, but I'm happy. Switching up to 20/30 series would be good though w/o spending $200+ on top of my 1080.

bro my pc still feels like it has input delay or vsync on
does bottlenecking cause this maybe?
vsync supposed to make it smoother
it feels kinda delayed
maybe its like a jelly effect thing im not sure
It happens to fh5 on my tv
but it makes no sense
this is a newly built pc
Reason: Bad word usage
hmm
you sure its running at the right refresh rate
60 hz
just like usual
best pc for under $100 plis i saved for so long guys Please i need a monitor mouse Keyboard and the Big tower thing in the budget plis i want to ply fortnite with my cousins
I'd do this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DnXRfP lian li Galahad is also a good choice if you want it for matching fans/prefer the look
Does their board have a heatsink?
P5 runs pretty hot
It do
Good
Can anyone tell me if these pc parts are compatible and can run games well
ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero AM4 AMD X570S SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X - Ryzen 7 5000 Series Vermeer. Corsair vengeance rgb pro 64 gb. GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3060 GAMING OC 12G. CORSAIR RMx Series (2021). SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2 2280 1TB. CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX Liquid CPU. Windows 10 pro
x570s tend to not be worth it
what features on it are you looking to utilize
64gb also seems to be very overkill for a 3060 build, as well as a 5800x being overkill for a 3060 unless youre doing cpu intense things
or workstation things that require a lot of ram
980 pro is also overpriced
I mean I just tend to play valorant and apex I just want the best for gaming
i would go with lian li galahad or artic freezer ii instead of that aio
i think youre aiming a bit high on the parts list on prices for things you wont see a benefit from
whats your budget?
Any amount could you possibly suggest me some good parts for cheaper.
im not the best at parts lists, @frank stirrup or @fossil cedar would make a better list than me but i think they are both asleep
i can try to make one
this is the best i can do without someone else looking at it, im not sure on a good choice for the mobo or psu, id reccomend waiting for someone else to give their opinion on them. As for gpu, any 30 series/20 series you can find for a good price, im guessing you know about the gpu shortage
also b550s tend to be better priced and have better vrms than x570s
x570s only good if youi need the extra pcie lanes and nvme slots
change out atleast ssd
and why a 360 for a 5600x
spatium?
Alright thank you
yeah it wont link to newegg for some reason
ah
so just add it in as a custom part
its only $75 after rebate on wegg
which is unreal for an A tier gen 4 1tb
se224xt enough for 12600k? or should i go for scythe fuma 2
se224xt more budget friendly but idk if its gonna do the job
meh id say go for fuma 2 atleast
or just wait for a b660 12400f
nah the lf2 is wayyyyyyyyyyyy better
oh yea i forgot
i saw the reviews and i think the hyper 212 is the best cooler
Best Nas hdd for under 130?
so youre just trolling?
-_-
6700xt a good card?
it used to be a few years ago, from a value perspective
a lot of better, and in some cases cheaper alternatives have come out since then
se-224xt moment
ah ok
Drp4 beats it
Slightly
Theres another cooler thats better but i dont remember it
@stoic island what was the cooler u had named?
The one built for perf and not looks
@frank stirrup can you build me a pc that’s at least around 2k
Like a parts list?
Also gimme the top limit of what u wanna spend
At least around is a lil too vague
You live in the US?
You mean like a ma624?
Yes I do @frank stirrup
Nhd15 is the only other air cooler I accept
Galahad Is good for perf as well, and why crucial? Sn750 is good tho
Why the TXM Psu? Isn’t RMx ok?
Galahad isnt as good as arctic freezer on amd cpus because of arctic freezers offset mount on amd
Sn750 is good but crucial p5 is very good too
And the p5 is a lot cheaper
RMx is ok but tmx is also very good for cheaper
What dumb cat said
Oh, so I get the artic freezer II 240?
Or the artic freezer II 280
Perf isn’t that much diff, the price is like 40 pound doff
So 240
Ud be surprised
But yeah 40 pounds is a lot more
Grand macho?
Ah yep thats the one
le grand macho
Also CNPS20X, but that rarely nicely priced
Yes, about the perf of a 3060 ti
Yeah just get the 240
Yup
What happen if I get the lian li gallahad tho
i seen most ppl use that on amd cpu
@fossil cedar
Slightly worse temps, Galahad is still good but arctic is the best for amd cpus
I see, what’s bad on Galahad ?
Plus arctic has quieter fans
Get Vetroo v5, it is about $8 dollars than that 212 for similar performance
I mean, sure, the 212s are just overpriced. You can get the SE-224-XT, that is also $8 dollars cheaper and doesn't have rgb
Also, if you are willing to keep an eye out for when they come back in stock and are willing to do rebates, you can get a 1tb Spatium M470 for $75 dollars on Newegg
do you already have the 1650?
Also, you can save about $25 dollars if you go with two sticks of 16gb at CL16 instead of those 4 sticks of 8gb at CL18
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NWH4Xb id do this
Where am I going to get a GPU of those for that price?
r/hws and shuffle mostly
Got a few more noob questions or concerns lol. A guy I know eluded to the 3060 being better bet versus the 3060ti because of the 12 gig of vram versus the 8 gig on the ti.
They're incorrect the 3060 can't even utilise the 12gb, 3060 ti is way better
@fossil cedar that’s the kind of info I’m looking for!
Sounds like the 3060 ti might be in the sweet spot of price versus performance
Yes, but its more of a whatever you can get closest to the msrp type of market unfortunately
Msrp seems long gone at this point eh lol?
I don’t mind spending a little bit if it keeps me from needing to upgrade right away
To add some more context for why, 3060 gets a 192 bit bus for its vram, but 3060ti gets a 256 bit bus for its vram, so 3060ti gets vram with quite a bit higher bandwidth
Basically, 3060ti a little less vram, but faster vram, while 3060 gets a bit more vram, but slower vram.
As well as a better gpu core
ya
well even with hose down (G's up) the LF2 didn't fit so I just cut the little decorative shroud cover thing with a sawzall then sanded the cut. I think it came out alright. It's hardly noticeable. See #build-pics if interested @fossil cedar @frank stirrup
do you guys put the liquid aio on the cpu after or before mounting the mb on the case?
After
ty
usually want to mount the radiator to the case first
@stoic island That makes sense. Which do you prefer let’s say for a FPS gaming PC?
3060ti is just better than 3060 in 98% of the tasks
very few tasks just need the vram
@stoic island Ok, so how big of a jump is it to a 3070 from the 3060 ti?
uh, 10-15% depending on the game.
tends to be around 10%
3060 instead of 3060 ti?
I ended up with the regular 3060. Don't hate it but the Ti would be so much better for 1440P
how much did you spend on the 3060?
I'm running an R5 5600X with 32 GB of DDR 3200 CL16 with an RTX 3060 12GB on an X470 Aorus mainboard with a WD Black SSD. I run my games at 1440P on High with DLSS and Ray Tracing and I'm pretty happy with it
I got it for $399.99 plus tax and shipping. It's an EVGA XC
Lucky
What’s a 3060 going for now?
but good mid range setup
I know right, I've been feeling guilty cause my friends have been looking and looking
I've seen them as high as $900
inflation is a pain
This is the first time I've ever built a computer and had it be worth more in parts than I paid for it
That’s the main reason I’m looking at a prebuilt
yeah, I’ve been looking at prebuilts too
I don’t intend on upgrading my current setup for a while since it’s alright
prebuilts are almost the only option anymore
1060 3gb, 3200g
True
I'm looking at laptops for my next big jump
I had a good one I got in 2016 that is still kicking today
There’s some options on Newegg now I’m looking at
ah cool
Just trying to decide on which way to go
I recommend looking at websites where you can design your own pc
laptops come with expiration dates
true
but can still change your world, I've dabbled back and forth lol
you can decide if you want wifi on your motherboard, more fans and stuff
Honestly, I’m not we’ll versed enough to really know what I need more of lol
That’s why I’m here
Ah okay
I built my tower back in 2012, since then I've gutted it and rebuilt it up to what I listed earlier
I’ve been a console gamer for 30 years , strictly PlayStation, and now I’m tired of waiting for a PS5 so have decided to switch to PC
It doesn't have to be as long as it does what you want it to do
I was a console gamer for like 4-5 years before wanting to get a pc
Trying to keep up with the jones and the top end will break you quickly lol
Lmao yeah
I can get behind upgrading a video card every now and then
it gets expensive but it really depends on what card
if it’s like a 30 series card then it’ll last you a good 5-7 years
they’ve got a good amount of vram so games will still run smoothly
Yeah I’m thinking a 3060 ti or@possibly 3070
price to performance would be the 3060 ti
I'd go for the 3060 ti personally.
Right on
I'm still on the waiting list for one
the 3070 only has a performance jump of about 10-15%
better performance
techwithexcellence can usually get you a GPU fairly quick
I got my 3070 & 3080ti from them
at msrp?
no but not like outrageously over MSRP like amazon or ebay at least
eBay isn’t terrible
oh well that's a fairly recent development then lol
lol
check their website
the lowest I’ve seen is about £300 which is like $350-$400
it'll look kinda suspect but they're a small company out of Ohio
for a 3060
that's about what they should be going for
there's a 3060ti ASUS KO for $570 there
I've seen the XC's from EVGA are up to $420-$430 now
up from $399.99 when I got it
Where do you guys stand on the intel processors? Looks like a lot of builds either have the series 5 and a lot have the 7
They are both good
I think theyir cheapest rn is EVGA 3060 XC for $515
Intel is better right now
but considering I'm on my third generation processor on the same motherboard, it depends on your perspective
damn my 5900x is old news
the asus rog maximus is chonky
& 10900K is a dinosaur
I've heard 30% under some workloads
Hmmmmm
11th gen was like a place holder
yeah
or maybe a juke?
So are the newest generations necessarily all better?
12600k smacks the 10900k
I mean $126000 is better than $10900 lol
10900 is like an OC'd 10700 I think
oh I thought it was implied that we were talking about CPUs here
I was, just trying to get context
I can tell you it certainly does not lol
I have my 10700KF OCed. The bin is meh so I can only get all-core at 50x
I can put my 10900K back to stock & run a benchmark or two
see how they compare I guess
as the owner of a 6 core cpu
don't really wanna put the time & effort into it tho tbh
as the owner of a 4 core cpu
vroom vroom
no clue
oops, meant 11900 vs 11700.
price to performance for 11th gen is trash
just that 11600K was pretty much the best thing to come out of 11th gen
8 cores, 16 threads
11400 has nice price to perf
kinda
But high end be bleh
is 11400 i3?
Hey I have a mustang too lol
No, i5
haha nice. Mine is getting old tho. It's an '08
i5. 11400 or 11600k for $160ish or $220 respectively is pretty good
Mines on 08 too lol
rip
12600K by itself is a solid $60 more, so idk.
it's nearing 100K miles now. 5.4L supercharged tho. It still hangs
This chat has gone from talking about cpus to now talking about cars
I have a feeling they're gonna end up with a lot of extra 11th gen CPUs in stock lol
I wonder if they still produce them
probably do
I'm back to CPUs
They definitely still do
Newegg does sell car parts tho so not too far outside the scope
That is until non-k skus comes
takes a while to get them out of the pipeline
plus this is "build" chat but doesn't specify what we're building
Should be q2 2022
If 11600 hits $200, I'm buying. well, K/KF. Tried to save a letter.
Build a better dinner
And probably b660 chipset
Mine was leftovers from lunch
You have a gt500 too?
To suit the non-k
haha ya
And make it worth it
Crazy
Mine is black factory stripe delete
put the KR edition hood on it after I banged up the old one pretty good
You ever had rice in eggdrop soup
no but is it good?
this conversation is starting to hurt my brain
I dunno, I have mixed feelings
lol just close your eyes for a minute, relax, deep breaths, then take it all in
I’m sorry for talking about cars lol, that’s my jam
I changed the stock pulley to Steeda
I have a Gen 1 Raptor too lol
daaamn
It didn't really add much to the taste, gave it a bit of a different texture but the soup got a bit gloopier
Yeah, I wanted wonton soup, but I didn't place the order and my mom ordered eggdrop, so meh
I usually stay away from the Asian soups, hard to tell what’s always in them
Ah man, I love water chestnuts, the texture is very nice imo
not bad
it's a strange crunch to me I dunno
everything else is soft then boom! water chestnut
it's like an onion without much flavor I dunno
Right on
it's stepping into 3070 territory
As far as prebuilt price?
ye
Got the red ring of death
Lol which coolers that?
I was hoping they'd have them ready with Intel 12th gen but still can't get in Canada I think
eh
I wouldn't get em unless you really want that cool factor I guess
There's better value coolers out there
True I like the fans compared to kraken though and resolution is a bit better
at least the nzxt is a bit cheaper tho
For sure better coolers, but bought it for the lcd. But the corsair does have a smaller screen compared to nzxt
tfw ek aio with screen is taking a while to come
ek said about feb 2022 lol
that'd destroy anything in value on aio with rgb and screen
Oh interesting
it costs 239.99
ye nucleus
and cheapest aio with screen so far
cooler master aio
plz don't tell me you're buying at the price listed
leak moment
nope
The gpu is $1800 on that website, I got one for 456
1080
elaborate
cooler master aios likes to leak
anyway
yep
that aio is meh value
sad
ik
what do you already own
ram, mobo, case, ssd,
Just set whatever you already own to marked as purchased next time you send the list btw

yeah thats in stock too
I'll get the EK Cooler
if its better than the cooler master
yeah, it is
how do I set stuff to bought on pc part picker
also I already have a complete pc I'm just upgrading it a lot
do I just set price to 0?
oh I'm actually blind
Well, you won’t need a monitor than
lmao
question: trying to get a graphics card for my PC and i think i've narrowed it down to these three. recommendations? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare?CompareItemList=9SIAYTVFU58532%2C14-131-782%2C14-150-855
those prices are ridiculous
i don't disagree... but i've been trying to get my hands on a graphics card for over a year. built the rest of my PC last october and haven't been able to use it because of scalpers and other shortages
I literally saw better gpus for same price tho
Oh nvm, it's those that I saw
Well.. idk honestly
hey, my parents and i are trying to talk my brother out of getting a ps4 just for a few games he can handle and likes. should i give him my big (gt 1030) pc while i make myself a raspberry pi 4 device? i realized i don’t like a lot of high fidelity games anyway, as they often have forced online.
i’m also trying to convince him the benefits of pc over console but that’s not the point rn
I mean the PS4 slaps a gt1030 around with little effort
So for gaming only I would go ps4
what gpu is ps4 on par with
tbh the game he wanted is kh3
which is low end
since that game honestly seems more like something of ps3 quality
it works fine and i wanted to give him something that can run it
It's around an HD7850 iirc
But games are crazy optimised on consoles
yeah kh3 doesn’t need much so that explains why kh3 runs as though it were a ps3 game
thats fine
as long as slowdown isnt felt
But you can play much higher end games on a ps4
Why limit urself to just a few on a gt 1030
yeah i just don’t like a lot of high-end games and the forced online
they’re just not my thing like i was hoping
most games i like are either on switch or weaker
if anything i could use a rpi4 for work and maybe up to 5th-gen and possibly dreamcast?
most of the stuff i care to emulate and play are up to 6th gen and wii
Think there’ll be any deals on prebuilts coming up thru the new year or was Black Friday pretty much it?
Theres always random deals, I would just suggest looking at the #tech-deals channel
whats your budget? i can keep an eye out
theres a 3060 build for tommorows deals on newegg i believe
There wasn't really many prebuilts on sale on black Friday anyway
@mossy venture I don’t really have a strict budget but have been looking in the $1500 range. I’d pay up to $1800-1900 if something was a great deal
any specific gpu power youre looking for?
Doesn't matter you can't get more than a 3070 for that price
i know
but if theres a good deal on a 3060 pc but theyre not looking for that tier of perf it would be useless to suggest
If they're looking for a 1.5k pc chances are they're looking for more premium than a 3060
i met a guy at my school looking to spend up to 7k on my pc and was looking at 3080 pcs...
some people are not looking at the right prices
and might have a bad interpretation of what tiers of pcs will cost from abs
A kid in school was gonna spend 7k on a pc ?
yeah... fairly sure his parents are rich
he also smokes weed in school
he also invited me twice
that's interesting that the parents are willing to put that much towards a huge system
but at least it's a pc
would a 3080 be premium enough?
or is there something further?
I was thinking either 3060 ti or 3070 possibly
For 7k you'd want a custom loop 3090, 12900k 128gb ram, crap tun of fast ssd storage and still hard to get to 7k
@cosmic fjord i would definitely get this for your budget
@jagged hill around 3k gets you top of the line
@fossil cedar that’s on my short list on Newegg’s site
Probably a dumb question but why do you lean that way? Pretend i just just forward in time from 1995 lol
ABS has good build quality, don't use proprietary parts like the OEM's(dell, hp etc) do, the price is good and the parts are good
Yeah I’ve already established that I’m staying from Dell, HP, Asus, Linovo
Take a look around here for details

When did these big devs start using proprietary OEM formats?
Did they always do this, or was this a thing in the 2000s onwards?
Whenever they figured out they can make more money that way :D
Seems to be somewhat gradual, thingy here for example

We dug a Dell Vostro 400 out from a closet to see if Dell had improved or regressed in its use of proprietary parts. This ~2008 machine embarrasses Dell's modern prebuilts, sadly.

So Dell wasn't always that terrible.
Dell still isn't bad for servers
My last PC was a dell but that was years ago lol
My only prebuilt was a Dell, but it was useless to upgrade it.
Luckily I’ve been sniffing around here and watching YouTube clips or I was going to buy an Alienware unit
I just hope e-waste gets recycled properly, but knowing how big companies see it cheaper to toss that stuff, I doubt it.
I’ve been praying open my Third Eye

Me and my poweredge are good B)
Lenovo Legion (their gaming lineup) actually have non proprietary parts and decent cases usually
Hey anyone, would you guys recommend (1x16GB RAM) for $44.99 or (2x8GB RAM) for $58.87 if I only have 2 memory slots in my motherboard? I have been recommended to use the (2x8GB RAM) but the (1x16GB RAM) is a little cheaper, and leaves an extra open slot for upgrades. Any help or opinions are welcome
2x 8gb is better. It'll run much faster because dual channel.
hmmm
okay that sounds valid
I mean its mostly on me for getting a mobo with 2 slots for memory lol
alr ill do that
funnily enough, a lot of higher-end overclocking motherboards only have 2 dimm slots, for RAM overclock stability related reasons
So basically buy ddr5 before it becomes the social standard
not necessarily? what makes you say that
did i miss part of a conversation
im too lazy to scroll up to read anything
Basically
More performance
=/=
More better
B u T
We will probs use ddr5 for the rest of the 20's and therefore
Is in your better interest to switch now
more performance is more better yes
but if you dont need it, there's no point in getting it lol
I'll still be on the AM4 platform for at least another 3 years
My b450 board and 3900x are plenty fine, so there's no reason to just upgrade, in my case
i just realized that you meant "does not equal" lmao
im multi-tasking right now i promise im not dumb 😔
Just open task manager duh
why do you say it's best to switch now though?
That equation is 1
Equal divided by itself
but why should we upgrade now just because it exists now
if you want to interpret it that way, sure? lol

What's an electric screwdriver I can get on amazon for cheap to finish my pc build? The holes are like messed up on one of my fans so was going to force it in with an electric screwdriver.
If you can't use a normal screwdriver, don't get an electric driver to force in a screw
As long as you use 3 screws on a normal fan, it's fine
They don't put out a ton of backforce
It won't really go in at all and the rest of the fans went in fine.
Just one screw?
I mean it should work fine
case was fine mounted another fan through the same case bracket
What fan is it?
Weird, it should work fine
Plus, an electric screwdriver can't really force in screws well
Low torque usually
I had the same problem trying to build some workout equipment just got an electric drill from my buddies dad and forced them in a bit. Worked fine. Was just going to do the same with the fan. Sometimes the holes are just slightly off.
I mean I wouldn't force in little screws like that, but that's just me
There's pretty easy to strip out or snap
Yeah but it's either that or a pretty much useless fan anyway.
opinions on this parts list? im pretty sure on it other than the mobo https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dN2WMv
and said if they wanted to they could go 11400 instead
and theyre going to add their own storage
6 ram slots
first gen hedt huh
@thin oar why do you have a 1060 3gb and a 750ti in the same system?
along with integrated graphics?
I’m not very smart
you using 3 graphics adapters to drive 10 monitors or
I’m saving for the 750 ti for another persons build and didn’t have a box to put it in so just stuck it in my system so it wouldn’t get damaged
plus I got the 3200g for free from someone
lol I mean I guess that's one way to keep it safe
lmao yeah
I have no shelves in my room
just make sure your temps aren't suffering
temps are sitting at 61 Celsius which is normal
I ran this for a while lol the top card was 20C higher than normal
you should be able to get a 2x8gb kit for 52$ https://pcpartpicker.com/product/P4FKHx/silicon-power-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-sp016gxlzu320bdaj5
the 3080 had enough breathing room but the 3070 was not having fun
I'm a mod I of all people wouldn't be talking in build pics
price rose to $52? sad
budget and do they have the gpu yet?
I see corsair ram

man I wanted to use a different emote but the server it's from got deleted
I am sad
lol
1500 cad
then why is it a us pcpp list 😭
Don't have the gpu yet, I was using it as a place holder
Kinda forgot it's cad until like an hour ago lmao
I dont know him well
🤦♂️
And he said 1500$
okay
And forgot he lives in Canada
It took me about 70 tries to tell him vram isn't what determines how good a gpu is in and of itself
ahh so he uses r/amd
Just kept saying "he's going to upgrade to a 4gb nvidia gpu"
And he Mines on a 550 4gb
And thinks it's rhe same as a 1650
3060 > 3080
Yes
Only reason I helped him is to prove a point
Most annoying kid ever
And I know myself
ohhh so that's why you told him to buy corsair ram
I am buying a 1440p 165 hz monitor. Currently have 1080p monitor 144hz. Do you guys think i should just keep doing competitive games on the 1080 144hz, until i can afford a 1440p 240 hz. Little over budget rn with just the pc alone, so I could just get a 4k 60 fps monitor for games where i dont care about fps.
Put that in as a place holder
yeah lmao bc thats league
you dont need more than 90 for it to have any sort of effect on your gameplay
its practically a side scroller
@mossy venture https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/nPM4Xb
i went with the dell one
please don't evade filter
2721DGF
was like 330, but yea i spent a good time trying to decide between m27q and the 2721DGF
M27q all the way
seemed like m27q was better picture, but people recommended the other one more
for gaming
i do coding and other stuff as well so wasnt sure about the BGR setup and if the windwos cleartype thing would work in command terminals and other stuff
also didnt want to deal with RMA of gigbyte if i had too since i heard they are really bad
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcmonitors/comments/nnwnql/dell_s2721dgf_vs_gigabyte_m27q/ most people in this thread ended up going with the dell
Reddit for pc suggestions is full of people thinking they know what they're saying
I got told on r/suggestapc by four people that vega 11 on the 3400g is equivelant to a 1050 ti
ok ill think about cancelling then
ah the good deal on m27q is gone darn lol
300 now
dw about it
it wont make a huge difference
and its not worth the hassle
however you spell it

Exactly
Way too many clowns on reddit. Just avoid it @clever nova
ok thanks
i mean it hasnt been delivered yet
so I can just cancel and get the m27q
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nL3bdriSPw dang wish this video came out when i was buying
seems like they are pretty much the same tho
Anyone know of a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter vertical mount? kinda like this but with clearance to screw it into the case thru the bottom holes https://www.amazon.ca/TRIXES-Mounting-Adapter-Bracket-Holder/dp/B00HFSMHDI/ref=asc_df_B00HFSMHDI/
hi
Hi
There any direction these antenna are supposed to go or just toss them on there? Didn’t even see anything in the manual on them.
when did EVGA do white gpus?
Not anytime soon as far as I know
With antennas like that... you want them at two different angles so that they're not overlapping a lot but you want to avoid the antennas making contact with any cables carrying current.
Actually apparantly there is a FTW3 white variant?
I was looking in build pics and at the bottom there is a white one
Other than that last white GPU they made were 1080 Tis
I put them like a V 😆
Aye I recently built a PC and it’s not booting up to the BIOS, all the Fans are spinning the Case Fan, CPU fan, and GPU fans are spinning.
I am not sure if it’s my ram not compatible with my motherboard.
I am using the G.skill Aegis 3200mhz on a ASRock B450M HDV R4.0
RAM should be fine with that, but I'm not an expert
Idk, but I’ll test it out tomorrow once my brother gets the CPU and the ram to test.
Ans hopefully it’s just a incompatible ram.
And*
Yea I’ve figured it out,
Yea the ram is completely not supportable,
what's the cpu
ram compatibility is usually not an issue with a motherboard
ddr4 is ddr4
on first boot it should be jedec speeds
how did you come to that conclusion?
Unless it's co*rsair ram, then it may not even be stable at jedec
he said g.skill
Yeah but was just making a point
yeah why'd you decide the ram was completely unsupported
i have corsair ram
hi
Best cooler for i9 12900k?
Checked at pangoly. Com
Arctic liquid freezer ii 420mm if you're excluding custom loops
EVGA Roboclocker beats it
When you can buy that retail sure
Hello I have a pc part list from newegg pc builder. Can they build for me or do I have to build it myself?
They do have a build feature but it's limited to certain parts, what's your budget and what will be the use for the pc?
$4000 for gaming
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali597/p/N82E16883360232 i would just grab this, you could do a bit better with 4000$ but the cards in the newegg builder are fairly expensive although i could do a list in that for you if you wish
Damn 4 grrrrrr, he just dropped the hammer
Liquid helium?
Ye
Ah
Ln2 cooling is for noobs
I mean use that as the coolant in the roboclocker
You have what air cooler?
yeah, but i have no need in hell for liquid cooling lol
for a 3600
be a wate of money
U ultra mega noob then
Rekt
Atleast i didnt hella degrade my cpu…
Idc was still you
my cpu prolly slaps yours now yours is degraded
lol
maybe someday ill oc a bit and try to beat yours
I can stable 4.35 all core at 1.25v
On my degraded cpu
Single core boosts till 4.43 or so
Good luck
I thought you used 1.35
ohhhhhh yeah right
you thought the same and degraded it
heh
Yeah those values I just said are post degrade
Nop
atleast my gpu still slaps yours
For a few days
Ez dubs
Enjoy it while you can
free space heater
Have fun with ur drivers
it is pretty cold
Wdym?
5700xt
Crap driver support
How many times have u updated em?
never had any real issues with them
uhhhh
i have them updated to like august 2021 i think
ive kinda stopped updating cause i have no reason to
Bad
and cause updating requires a restart and im lazy
updating gpu drivers requires a restart?
hm interestin
Nvidia doesn't require restart
heh i should honestly just sell me gpu for 1.2k
apparently its been done before
then just buy a 3070 off hws
ez
Yeah
I mean you can just not restart with radeon too and have em install when you shut down pc
Like what nvidia does
But ehhh
Yeah i rather restart and get it done with
Hey what psu do you think I need for a 10400f and a 980 ti I have old 550 80 +bronze lying around that should do it right?
Evga founders the blower one
Im talking about psu model
Oh cv 550 Corsair
Yeah maybe I’ll grab a cheap 650
Dont cheap out on psus
Look through the psu tier list, there should be some good affordable B tier ones
Or what Pato said above
So i just installed an AIO on my system and now my desktop will boot but it gets stuck on the boot logo any idea on how to fix it?
@twin sedge I found a good 750 cooler master 80+ gold for a good price
Nvm the issue is my SSD…
Send link
Nvm again as i just switched SSDs to check that and it happened again
It’s probably not the aio in any case because that wouldn’t affect it booting or not
