It's somewhat of a neat idea but at the same time just buy your own parts and watch youtube video...
There's hundreds of written guides and videos
It's only $100 more for the build kit
That added cost is only the toolkit and booklet then?
jay moment
100$ more than a prebuilt
Still tho
Prebuilts marked up cuz they build for you lol
Still crappy pre-built
Bet they have 3060s
Need a little more help guys
Got the MSI mag 240r cooler
There’s a splitter with it that plugs into the cpu fan slot and then connects the two 120mm fans. Except one of the splitters has 3 prongs the other has 4…. Is this a defect do I need to return it?
No.
The 4th pin is PWM, you can only take the PWM signal from one fan to report to the motherboard through that header
Got it thank you
Idk why but when I did this like 8 years ago it seemed more simple lol
What is simpler is just using an Air Cooler
Too late friend talked me into the water cooler lol
It's not too late
Yes it is
You can just return the water cooler
You can always just uninstall it.
Why would I waste the time when it’s already done lol
Next question the pump or whatever that’s supposed to plug into the pump fan has 3 female end and the cpu has 4 male. Is that right also?
Probably is correct.
I7 11700K
Idc it’s aesthetic lol
Slap an NH-D15 or a Scythe Fuma 2 and you'll probably get 90% the same thermals.
An aesthetic that could eventually leak or die
And then bye-bye CPU
Or whole PC if the leak is bad enough.
I guess sucks to suck at that point
11700k can get really quite hot
like
There's no way it NEEDS a Liquid Cooler though.
this is all you need to see :D
I feel that it's nearly necessary if you want to maintain boost clocks
sure it'll be just fine if you let it drop down to base clocks
I don't think that MSI 240mm AIO is enough though.
Maybe they just have money and like the look of it?
we're discussing performance though
anyways finding benches atm
It will work fine, he said it was for aesthetic reasons anyways
His choice if he wants to risk leaks etc
I don't care if they grab it or not, I'm talking to skiptrace about performance of aio and power draw of 11700k >:P
even at stock?
Oh 11700k
yeah thats a toasty boy
nearly 300w avx load
still easier to cool than a 5800x tho
I guess this is the only real review of the 240r we have so far......
On what CPU?
I’d imagine on the one you are speaking about..
just a comparison to other coolers on not an 11700k is my guess
^
but you can get a temp review of one of the coolers its compared to and extrapolate
A 3600? kek
ahh nvm
My 3600 stays a cool 60C with my Mugen 5
we got computerbase.de with some more actual data here
I'm tempted to upgrade to a Fuma 2 just so I can have the Fuma 2 for AM4+ or AM5
red is 360r
one of the blue is z63
one of the blue is h115i
one of the blue is h150i
black is d15
orange is mugen 5
Left is temperature above ambient
Bottom is sound pressure in dba
Watch AM5+ follow AM5
except zen 3
Yes, but I'm talking sockets
not really zen2 + but kinda?
Wtf
and then threadripper is weird
fun
tr4 and str4 iirc
right
Looks like it's AM5 according to Wikipedia?
whats am5
The next AMD Desktop Socket.
it's wikipedia tbf
Oh thats common knowledge at this point tho
lotta leaks saying its am5
Id be very surprised if they called it am4+ after switching frpm pga to lga
thats a massive difefernce
Wait, the next socket for AMD is going to be LGA?
I think we still don't know if AMD will get pcie 5.0 for next gen
Is PCIe 5.0 ready for prime time?
Intel should get pcie 5.0 next gen
Jesus
tbh consumers dont really need pcie 5... Nothing in the consumer space can saturate a pcie 4 link yet
We haven't even really hit the limits of PCIe 4.0 in terms of GPUs
the only real application for pcie4 is in workstations or servers
Yeah, I see no real reason for them to move to PCIe 5.0 until like, 2 more generations out
Now, DDR5?
Move to that ASAP
On-Die Error Correction is going to be real nice.
And the stupid fast speeds should benefit Ryzen a LOT
I dont see that being very useful either for most people
It (should) reduce Memory Overclocking issues, and maybe a couple of BSOD's
I mean 5400mts ram kits exist in ddr4... ryzen is very held back by fclk limits
but more faster = more better
Hey y'all Im a gamer with a 1800 dollar budget for a new build any suggestions
On die ecc doesn't really do that much tbh
yeah
Like ecc in general is only something that might help workstation users but just on die ecc does even less :p
ty
This is for the case fan. I unplugged everything without looking. What goes to what… lol
For sys fan?
Yes
You dont need to use that
Okay
That's to power it using Molex which is a older connector and not used much anymore
So do I ONLY need to plug the sys fan in?
Correct, the brown connector
Sweet thanks man
You can also chain another fan to the white one next to the brown
Given that Manufacture's Suggested Retail Price for AMD Radeon RX 6600 are $329, do you think an unopened box of PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 6600 Fighter Card 8GB GDDR6 for $461.00 is a good deal; worthy of an upgrade for my current AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB, in this day and age?
||(Yes, I'm very indecisive)||
Not the worst price considering the market
Your card is going for around 350-450 last time I checked
Since miners love it
Does the vender/supplier make any difference to the GPU? I've never even heard of Powercolor Fighter before...
Kind of, but powercolor, sapphire, and xfx are all reputable companies, they just only make AMD cards and not Nvidia cards.
Huh. I didn't know. I only knew Sapphire because that was the first GPU that I've ever bought.
Thank you!
@mossy venture@stoic island
:)
Hi. So I’m trying to remove the metal panel (the opposite side of the glass panel) so I can see the connections but after removing the screws it’s still not coming off. Am I doing something wrong?
Rose will spectra d100
@stiff halo it might be a slide not a pull off
Oh god you’re right @topaz kestrel
np lol
Found it. Where do I connect hdd to?
the sata cable?
if you mean sata cable, 1 end goes into your motherboard and 1 into the hdd
but if you mean mounting the hdd
there is probably a cage at the bottom
I’d have to dm I can’t send pics here
aight
yes, just scalp your card for 350 and then it's a pretty cheap upgrade
IT HAS ARRIVED
Im gonna do some thermal tests on it, then probably lap it since Ive already got my sandpaper set up for another cpu im lapping
How'd you screw up your last CPU?
the 5820k?
It died after I pulled out a dimm while the system was running the SCP foundation confiscated it for being able to hit 10GHz at 1.1V
Wait that's what your dumb mistake was when you also fried that ballistix?
yup
Damn
The motherboard still works fine and so do my other 2 dimms + and extra 2 from another kit that I had
Just too impatient to wait and power off?
sapphire is great!
best AMD AIB
but powercolor and XFX aren't bad either
Is this okay for the right orange tab to be hanging off like that?
Like out of the slot
yo idk if im ever gonna get a gpu, yall know of any good quality prebuilts with a 3070 for around 2k? just to keep in the back of my mind in case i just say screw it
ABS on newegg
i cant look rn
but theres plenty
bet ty
Hey everyone - I have a build budget max of $500 - was wondering if an Acer XV272u would be okay, or an AOC CG27G2 27" and then just get a super cheap 60hz monitor
For the second monitor that is.
like 500$ budget for monitor...?
Yeah - would be for two monitors
I wanted to also include a keyboard, but I was thinking maybe with the super cheap 60hz monitor I'd have enough to get a decent keyboard
so you want 2 monitors?
Yeah
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sRZRZZ
im about to order some things from this, any upgrades yall can think of?
im waiting to buy ssd (cuz im broke) and i has gpu that will work for now
Go M27q and grab a cheapo 60hz panel, and a keychron keeb
@stoic island Ideally for a user that's an artist, should I be looking an IPS or VA panels?
IPS
Grab a M27q out of all monitors mentioned so far, m27q good colors
Gigabyte?
ye
@cerulean root either or the cpu or case
oh yea psu can be better @cerulean root
suggustions?
could do cx650 for 70$ or a-gf 750w for 90$
i was thinking that or a msi
a 3060 should have about 650w?
yea
i think so
a 3060 should have about 650w psu
I mean 3060 only draws like 200w by itself
you can get away with 550w psu easily imo
also a 3060 ti?
but then you have the cpu aswell
idk what ima get yet
k
also basically the same
the cosair one was 85$
70$ on wegg with an additional 20$ MIB
https://www.newegg.com/corsair-cx-series-cx650-650w/p/N82E16817139200
mib?
mail in rebate i believe
they work everywhere]
well depending on the site you get it from
here
It’s cycling through 40s and 50s is this normal when installing apps?
Okay, I've included the b560m
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/vBM93Z How's this, don't have a GPU yet but probably am gonna go with the 1660 but ik that's overpriced so idk
Looks decent to me, I'd get this memory though if you can do the extra $12. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/2TFKHx/crucial-ballistix-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-bl2k8g36c16u4b
What change does it make? In any case my CPU can only support up to 2666mhz
It supports much higher than that, that's just the official jedec spec
I'm probably buying this one Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
That's why you want B560 instead of B460, the newer B560 allows memory overclocking
mhm
Anything wrong with this though? https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/p6RFf7/corsair-memory-cmk16gx4m2b3200c16
It's fine. Not great but it'll work.
ouch is all I can say
No way is a 3060 ti worth more than the msrp of the 3080
I’m tired of waiting lol
pretty sure r/hws scalpers sell for lower than that
Yes they do, and there's microcenter that frequently has AMD cards in stock if you're near there
corsair memory wacky&often sucky
Is there a sight I can buy a cheaper 3060 ti
Cause my monitor is gsync and plus I got every part I need accept gpu
I have had my parts for almost a year now
Yeah, what monitor is it specifically?
Odds are it's actually freesync marketed as Gsync compatible, like Mr1111 said
It’s a asus vg248 165 hz and 0.5ms
that one definitely doesn't have gsync
Not at that price, no
True Gsync monitors run over $500
^
gsync monitors have always been a bit pricey 😔
'true' g sync is wacky
True gsync is uh it’s really good (totally not because I own a monitor with it)
do you already own it or
I own a monitor with true gsync
bruh so expensive
yes
I cant afford i only have 3,000 😔
wow, if only i had more money 😦
lol
i wanna buy this so bad and see what happens
it will prolly be a box with a picture of a 3090 in it
Or boxed air
@limber solstice you have to talk in here if you wanna talk about #build-pics
Yea so I didn't see what ypu posted in #build-pics bc it got deleted
I said it was fire
Lol
No
my message descinegrated
no it's about my pc and gaming journey
that's why
(pretty much the journey it took for me to get to the point to which i am at now)
i didnt even see that
ngl i don't getr how another word for excrement is that bad
oooo
So, here is my question,
Originally, I wanted to match a core i7 with a GIGABYTE H310M A LGA 1151 (300 Series)
But that motherboard has horrible feedback and only one fan port.
10400f>
What's your recommendation?
10th gen or 11th gen i5
Ryzen 5000 series and Intel 10/11th gen is good choice
Depending on what gpu you're going with
For ryzen B550, B560 for Intel
I am not looking to go above 1.4K
Yeah or 5000 series but since you were gonna go for a 9th gen i7 I'm guessing you're not going with a top tier gpu
Well, since I am limited, I am going with a GTX 1650
Would you be OK with a pre built? Or are you set on building yourself
Oh hell nah
Wait
Honestly, prebuilts are best bet
Check this out on @Newegg: ABS Master Gaming PC - Intel i5 10400F - GeForce RTX 3060 Ti - 16GB DDR4 3000MHz - 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali568/p/N82E16883360198?Item=N82E16883360198&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-83-360-198-_-10212021
yep
cooler might need swap tho
cause it sure is oof
but as is, it's just fine too
Oh is the budget 1.4k cad?
yeah, capped at 1.5k
Can you give me a link to newegg canada?
Looks pretty good.
The heatsink might need a replace and you might need more storage
Personally i'd case swap that.
That front looks like basically no air can get into the case.
Yeah not the best airflow good point
Not your favorite year, huh
Prebuilts are the only way to get a reasonably priced GPU
If you dont feel like changing case or anything there's this https://www.newegg.ca/abs-computer-technologies-ali416/p/N82E16883102994
You'll get much better value from a pre build
Much better
Yeah but it's top of the budget before case, storage, and heatsink replacement
Normally I'd choke myself to death before saying "Prebuilts are Good" but, in this era of bad GPU prices, I have to say that Prebuilts are good.
Let me worry about the GPU.
Plenty of money, just capping myself to 1.5K because I want to build it.
Once I build it, I'll probably give it to my little brother and go with a 3k build.
...
B560 for mobo
Maybe later.
Pain
Please, do your sanity a favor and just buy a prebuilt.
Maybe case swap it if you feel like it's too hot.
You're going to spend like, a LOT of hours of your time trying to find a GPU in the first place.
It just isn't worth it.
I have a friend that owns a store, all good.
That's why I am saying don't worry about that.
I just want to know what's compatible and what is not.
Before you buy a gpu check with us first, please
Just to make sure the price is ok
Sounds good.
Just use pcpartpicker.com to check compatibility
For the rest of the pc I'd reccomend a 10400, b560 mobo (exactl model idk), 2x8gb 3200mhz cl16-18 ram
Yeah
Cause you don't have a rank yet
You'll have to talk more and eventually you'll rank up
What about links?
Nah
Same thing
Pato and rawr are great at parts list
Me not so much
Theyre both offline rn
o
@lyric thistle you've any clue?
Also, if I do order everything, how long do they take for shipping.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
It varies
That all depends on who you buy your parts from.
Also keep in mind some places will have cheaper parts than newegg
I hate this
So much
I can hear the crunching from here.
Fair point.
crunch
what's up
Are you good with parts lists?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
lmao
budget and expectations?
1500 cad
They'll worry about the gpu they're saying
I figured a 10400 and b560
What model mobo idk
I've played around mostly with 500 usd or less budget but I'll try to make one
1500 CAD is 1.2K USD.
Talking msrp I'd aim for a 3060 ti but any 30 series you can get for msrp is good
Just for God's sake don't pair a 3080 with a 10400 at 1080p
everyone is dumb 😎
At 1440p too, not even 4k
man what happened to ssd prices
Let me know if you come up with anything.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/M83ZsX so here's what I came up with
doesn't include gpu and I'm just using prices it gives me because my relevant knowledge of prices has expired
basically 825
fans are excellent and cheap, psu is high quality, case is decent from what I can tell, ssd is fast and kinda big, ram is probably adequate
and mobo idk
BB drop is happening
nooo don't drop the baby
Idk what the GPU supposed to be cuz i didn't see budget but rest of list is what i would change too https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/tgj2p2
3060ti or something
Yeah I'd do that with that or something
1500 cad max
Ohh then hold on
Then this https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/MPTJj2
@vale storm your list
11400 problem is literally only in the us lmao
Deal with it
Yall get like cheaper 60% of the studf anyway
yes, BB do online drop(mostly) @simple stag Is too late now
except toilet paper for some reason
Remember when the lockdown started last year
i make funi joke
Ohh yeah i don't think they priced weird tho
back when toilet paper was rarer than 30 series gpus
IDK but seems logical that it would be
People are still trying to sell their stash, and for more than they bought it for lol
Lmao
Stores had to adopt a no returns policy on stuff like that
can I have your heart for 100% off

thats a bit violent

WOW PATO
WHEN I FLIRT WITH YOU U HAVE GF
BUT WHEN SIPPY FLIRT WITH U UR SUDDENLY READY TO GO
BLOCKED
Can't resist the red, looks so good on the orange mush hehe
XD
sus?
Hi guys, do you know a good docking to attach to laptop, so i can plug 3 monitors, have power adapter , usb .. ?? someone who knows a good one ??
depends on what laptop, ie what type of dock you need
Laptop Docks are VERY laptop dependent. Do you have USB-C? Thunderbolt? Surface?
Is it Thunderbolt?
Or just USB-C
If it's just USB-C you can't do 3 monitors as far as I knoe
Hell, I don't think Thunderbolt can do 3 monitors.
What laptop is it?
There is a docking station but it’s for older Lenovo laptops
Newer ones got rid of compatibility for it
you aren’t able to use any docking stations with that laptop
Not old enough to use the older docking stations but not new enough to use the new ones
Yeah, at best you can do a USB-C Dongle, but the laptop needs to support USB-C Alt Mode for Display Output.
the thing is they accept change of mind returns and its only 8 dollars
So I got a ton of manuals for the motherboard and GPU and SSd and such
One of them is telling me install the PSU
And I got these cords
Do I need to put these in?
it's a prebuilt
leave it alone and turn it on lol
prebuilts serve one purpose
to work out of the box
if you have to do anything to it then that's a failure of the product
Oh seriously lol
So basically all these nuts and bolts are all in case something is faulty
Just extra parts
I’ve never built or had a pc
Just laptop
no, it's not in case something is faulty
Do you know what those cords are
it's just that the parts come with more screws and stuff than you usually need
They look like PsU
so they included those there in case you ever want to upgrade your prebuilt and end up needing them
they are psu molex connectors
and looks like an extra CPU or PCIe power
There is no words in the manual only pictures
That is why I’m not entirely sure haha
Thanks for the help
How thoughtful of your manufacturer
Mine came with extra papers trying to get me to buy stuff
did you plug the monitor cable into the graphics card
if you plugged it into the motherboard that's likely why
take a pic of the back
Oh you’re right
I did the HDMI below
I didn’t even see that it had multiple
@earnest olive tysm
What’s that mean
does it work now?
@analog pulsar Did nzxt really put a 120mm aio on a 10900k
Not only that but as exhaust on an h510

Yo how come it’s saying activate windows but yet I’m already in lmao
Cant change background image
ABS prebuilts save money by not including a windows key
Trying to upgrade my cpu to the r9 5900x from r5 3600. question is will my b450 pro motherboard be okay with that?
which mobo
B450 pro
msi b450-a pro?
ASRock
ASRock b450 pro4?
Do you have an old computer running windows 7 or 8? You can just use the key from that
umm I would not recommend it but it would work
so ineed a new motherboard also?
My laptop
Runs windows 10
Lol
if you don't plan to overclock or turn on PBO then that board will be okay
Don't buy retail, they're cheap on eBay or you can go to a more legitimate reseller. For legal reasons I can't mention any here.
if you want to be able to actually make the most out of your 5900x then you will need a better mobo
I do overclock my gpu but not my cpu
hyper 212 evo
the stock cooler for the 3600 will not be adequate for the 5900x
hmm
I guess you can get away with a 212 if you leave it full stock
I would still upgrade
Lol i had a feeling i was in to deep
evga 2080ti xc ultra...1440p aaa gaming
I have 3 monitors....i do multiple things
2080ti is holding the 3600 back at 1440p in AAA games anyways
my 3600x had no problem keeping up with my 3080 at 1440p high
thats kinda why i wanted to upgrade
you should probably clarify that it's newer, generally harder to run AAA games
well I tried games from like 2018 still held true
unless we talking about AAA games from 1997
there are hard to run games from 2018 though
2018 is only 3 years ago
what games specifically?
he's not gonna see a benefit going to 5900x in a game from 2012 lol
new far cry cod bf 2042 ac
yeah... the latest
well yea definitely, i wasnt disagreeing there lol
just don't bother upgrading
you will not see a performance gain
you are GPU bound
So even if i wanted stable frame rates and smoother multitasking i would be wasting money?
I went from a 2600 to a 3900X lol
I dont really do much workstation/server stuff.... or play many games these days either
drop settings
Okay....lets try this. I want more stable frame rates and smoother transitioning between tasks. What would be the recommendation for an upgrade?
5800X max if you want stable frames
5900X and 5950X have higher latency and more dropped frames when things switch between CCX0 and CCX1
Thank you
Fair warning, that's one of the hottest CPUs around. 240mm AIO is the minimum recommended cooler for running at stock speeds.
You can make do with an air cooler but any air cooler that can keep up costs as much or more than an AIO
Haha had to be a catch.
Would this be alright? Someone tweaked it for me and I am just looking for some extra opinions. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8pd9fP
I'd grab a b550 mobo for $20 extra
which b550 theres like 5 of them
i am new to this, how do i know if it has that or where is the search option button
also, the case comes with molex fans so keep in mind you will have no fan control
would advise different case unless that doesn't bother you
not really
what are you trying to play at 1080p144
esports?
anything more demanding than like, league of legends will be a hard ask from the 5600g
siege is probably the most intensive game i play
stupid laptop i have rn plays it at 15fps
what im used to
anything better than 15 would be life changing
might be a better call to get a $100 CPU + $160 used GPU instead of the 5600g
like i3-10100 + GTX 970
i was going to wait to get a graphics card, they are so expensive rn
i mean you could, just note that the 5600g is crippled on the cpu side due to having half the cache of the 5600x
it's basically 3600 level on the cpu side
i hope it doesnt seem like im trying to argue, i just want to look at all of my options
i would recommend going the used gtx 970 route
cheapest on pcpartpicker is 235 for the cpu
the 5600g will do 60 fps at 900p in siege while the gtx 970 will do 100-120 at 1080p low
$96.79 on amazon lol
so that would be compatible with this? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PDsnTW/msi-b550m-pro-vdh-wifi-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b550m-pro-vdh-wifi
https://www.reddit.com/r/hardwareswap/comments/qd0j34/usaca_h_msi_gtx_970_gpu_w_paypal_local_cash/ and here's a used 970 for 175 OBO, they haven't gotten any PMs in 6 hours so you could offer less
no, intel cpus need a different motherboard
what intel "chipset" does it need?
B560
a little bit more expensive but you end up with more than twice the performance, and you might be able to get a 970 for cheaper
i got my last 970 for $150
Wtf you on about
I got off work
Google home to sleep
Going
This is #building-and-recc-chat
Hey Newegg community, board off of work, waiting on computer parts lol. Question for the overlockers out there, if you could build an ultimate OC build what would it be and what would be in it? No budget restrictions, have fun with it.
Not the biggest fan of the ABS build personaly... That being said this case and build simplicity is giving me a nerd -gasam lol
Damn Canadians lmao JK
agreed but the simplicity is clean af
no budget restrictions?
start by buying 1,000 i9-11900K and 1,000 kits of b-die so you can bin them
lol now now just a personal build lol
so you lied to me then
now I'm disappointed
bet you don't even daily liquid helium
coward
nah liquid hydrogen is where it's at
helium colder
oh yeah also buy 1,000 6900XT OC formula
Navi 21 XTXH prebin isn't good enough
need to hand bin out of the pre binned chips
hydrogen rarer to use :D
Hydrogen is everywhere
There are some good reasons for that
(and also a reason for liquid hydrogen to be the 'special' option)
buy 1,000 Z590 DARK to bin the VRMS LMAO
I like my liquids to burn too
I see no difference in that and ln2 :D
/s
get outtta my freaking pool
Hi guys i have a question, could i use a 3070 with a 550w psu?
0/10 would not reccomend
Thanks!
doable if you have an extremely low power draw CPU like a ryzen 5 3600
but either way, you have a 3070, you can afford a new $60 psu
Dude's got an i7 3770
That poor throttled 3070
And potential fire hazard psu
but i like fireworks
Ok so i will purchase a new psu
And yeah the cpu is doin bottleneck but surprisingly is not that much on 1440p and 4k
did you use a calculator to find that?
No i see it in game
I have a i7 3770 and recently purchase a zotac rtx 3070 twin edge
or play 1440p cranked to increase gpu load
Yes i play max out everything and in a high resolution
And no dlss on games that support it
The only game that is givin me some problema with framerates is fortnite
yeah thats a cpu heavy game
It runs the ram at the rated speed instead of 2133mhz
They do include windows but it activates few days after boot up or you can do manually by going to https://www.abs.com/faq and it tells you how to fix manually if you don't wanna wait@serene pulsar

Is it like, a grinding noise? What kind of noise is it?
hey guys
Can you guys take a look at this?
Something is up with the motherboard, not sure what the note means.
Have you got this already?
first off, would not recommend that list
Outdated parts
What is outdated?
Cpu, case, gpu, cooler is meh, ram is meh
Psu is alright but better options
Ssd also overpriced
A case can be outdated? 🤦
we have moved on from the era of metal boxes with no airflow to metal boxes with mesh fronts and actual airflow
:p
It's more just a bad case, but yea
Bad case sounds much better.
1.5K CAD.
I was speaking to a few nice people yesterday too.
oh just use ca.pcpartpicker.com then
Well no point using usd pc part pciker then
I am within budget. It's easy to make the USD to CAD $ difference.
Have you already bought the gpu or are you waiting for 3060 ti msrp pipe dream?
shipping from the US to Canada is not
Not really things don't carry over well, better to use native pc part picker
and it's just nicer to use cad pricing because ca.pcpartpicker.com uses Canadian retailers like canadacomputers and such
Look, just focus on my question, lmao.
The oudated parts, what replacements should I consider?
outdated*
(It's more useful to make a list based on cad in ca.pcpartpicker.com, which I assume pato is working on now)
@vale storm https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/YzBLht I'd do this
I meant in terms of games.
I am mostly looking at Warzone, Assassin's creed, rust, Destiny 2 & CSGO.
It will run all those at 1080p perfectly and 1440p very well depending on gpu, if you get 3060 ti/6700xt and above it will be very nice 1440p machine
Hm... Okay.
You've been by far the most helpful.
I appreciate that.
Do I need watercooling? Or a core i7?
no and no
Not at all
11400 doesn't really get hot enough to warrant an aio
and 11400 beats tons of i7s in gaming
'i3' 'i5' 'i7' 'i9' bad metric of performance
wait really?
yeah
10700 is about equal
and 11700 is slightly better
but it beats all other i7s
iirc
you think a poor i7 880 is going to beat a 11400?
11600k beats 10700k right?
:p
depends on task
about equal
Ah
oh i thought you meant a modern i7 lolll
11600k tends to be cheaper, right? (Not talking resellers)
any i7 before 10th gen is beaten
ah makes sense
Not cheaper then 11400, well in the us it is because scalpers
happy birthday (if it’s still your birthday)
Yes it is, thank you
ye that's what I meant mb
Happy birthday!
My question is, why is an intel core i7 performs as well as a core i5 11400? LOL.
which i7
I mean its pretty obvious that a 10 year old i7 is gonna get destroyed by an i5 11400
or a 5 year old one
Or even 9th gen
per generation improvement is more important than i3, i7 or i5
Ty

^
something like 10700f would be faster
but like 7700k?
hell no
11400 is better
not exactly
they trade blows
in gaming
hm
anything multi core is 10700 tho
ye
@fossil cedar happy spooky birthday
Got a question, dont know if this is the right chat for this or not. Will there be any bottlenecking or performance issues putting a Ryzen 9 5900X with a RX6700
lol, no
a top end CPU will not bottleneck a midrange graphics card
unless you are playing csgo at 480p 4:3 x)
alright thanks 🙂
would go a lower end cpu
unless you do non-gaming tasks
5600x is more than enough CPU to game with a 6700xt
5600x is more than enough CPU to game in general
Yeah, I have a decent work load on cpu. i need the 5900x lol
ah okay
just making sure cause quite a lot of people think they need 5900x or 5950x for fortnite
more power to you if you are actually going to load up those 12 cores
Yeah this is a work PC with a side of gaming lol
Thanks for the info lol.
yeah seriously
who got a new GPU?
@mellow chasm ?
Which one?
Powercolor RX6700XT
lemme find a link
This is pretty close. I got it off my friend who got lucky and bought a 3080 for a non scalper price.
Thanks
It has been another week in the life of Dave, so I think I will maybe order a new PC case next week, I’m pretty set on the P500A from Phanteks. May pick up an SSD too. Are case swaps as hard as a platform upgrade? (That was my last upgrade)
if you have an aio, it's decently annoying, otherwise, it's mainly just unplugging psu, and removing and relocation motherboard and psu
Nah, I’m air cooled lol
well, prob want to uninstall gpu too
but cpu mobo ram cooler can just go together into the new case
case swap is basically the same amount of work as a rebuild
I’ve considered water cooling but I am still kinda new to the PC thing, the 5600X runs toasty which I’m still getting used to
Yank out the motherboard and aio, lift the motherboard by the aio
you don't gotta take the mobo assembly apart but you gotta undo and redo the cables

anyways you can do it in like 20 mins if you're experienced
Yeah the cables should be interesting
Yea, it's mainly the cables, but if you did it one time, you should be able to do it again
but it depends on cables as well
my pc would not be fun to case swap
so many cables
like 12 argb cables or something like that
10 fan cables
It only took me about 30-40 mins to get the new board and everything hooked up, and another few hours to figure out the BIOS flash lol
extensions
yea rgb is annoying
really interested in those new lian li fans that link together using contact pads
but so expensive lol
unifans?
Thankful I only have 1 fan on the entire case currently, so there’s not a whole lot of wiring,
yeah
I was thinking about setting up a fan up top but I figured it would be best to get a new case, I need more airflow, this pre built case has run its course
So, with more airflow, doesn’t that mean my room will heat up faster?
My poor singular exaust fan cannot move the air I’m needed it too lol. AMD runs toasty
perhaps, but it's the same amount of heat
True
This case wasn’t designed for high end stuff I don’t think, it came with a passively cooled GT710
It'll mainly just be more heat coming from hot air out of the case rather than heat radiating out from the sides of the case
Okay
although with lowered temps your parts might decide to boost higher and draw more power and create more heat in general with the extra power
Yeah because right now my glass and the whole top of my case get warm when I’m playing Beam or Fallout or something
You'll see how the conditions actually manifest, afterall, theory isn't always practice
I want to see if I can find a CPU cooler to keep the 5600X cool, right now it’s still the stock cooler. RGB would be really nice, and I liked how the top end Wraith cooler that AMD has looked. Idk how much better of a job that would do
I know the cables are a mess lol
Id cooling se-224xt is pretty good for the price
prism is meh
There we go, I kinda wanna figure out how to change that motherboard RGB, I think that’s in the bios
go vetroo v5 prob if you want the rgb
Oh, and kinda off topic, I have all my original parts that came with this thing, are they worth selling?
Ooh kewl. That’s a neat cooler
how do i tell if my mother board can do windows 11
@proper laurel I think they may have a list of what can and cannot run Windows 11. What board do you have?
Asus PRIME B550-PLUS ATX AM4
I would think that’s okay
I have a B450 Tomahawk Max and haven’t upgraded yet
That's awesome! Rarely see someone buy a 3060ti at msrp lol
That is so hot
compare their rated static pressure
use whichever one is higher
@elfin flame
also check dba i guess
could also test temps yourself
Find testing or do testing yourself
