I have a question regarding my build, I was curious as to why my mobo responses a flash of red for my cpu?
Is there anything that could help jt at all
Rip
Why would you need to help it?
I think it's supposed to do that
hey guys this is my build
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mCPP4d
the Liquid Freezer comes with 3 fans, the P500A case comes with 3 fans up front and I bought a Silent Wings 3 fan for the back(this was recommended)
my question is will i be able to connect all my fans to my mobo or do i need a fan controller?
alright but i should be good with the fan headers i have?
You should be
nice thanks!
just waiting for everything to arrive to begin building my first pc
so just expect me here often in the coming week lol
looks good, just be aware that system may not boot at first with the gen 3 riser; get around this by first booting with 3060ti plugged directly into the mobo (you can do this outside of the case) then manually set the pcie slot to gen 3
@little osprey
gen 3 risers tend to not play nice with gen 4 slots
alrigt
I would go enermax revolution sf 650w instead btw
You dont
are you talking about the guy in #build-pics ?
cuz
So this is kinda of a mixed question cause it falls under gpu, mobo, and psu so i felt it would be necessary to ask here but would a B365m be able to support a 1000w psu with a 3090 pulling it through or would the board fail?
What’s y’all’s take on AMD vs Intel come this fall, I wanna make a new build and AMD’s fall cpus are looking pretty freaking sweet compared to intels 12th Gen
Im kinda liking intel due to them adding more cores to their cpus and allowing better performance than to the 11th gen but downside is that the cost of them could double the 11th gen prices while on the AMD side i have no knowledge on their upcoming products
But i have great expectations from both companies and an open mind
motherboard is irrelevant
gpu will only pull 75 watts through the motherboard slot
everything else is supplied by the pcie power cables
as long as the board is new enough to have a pcie slot, you can put a 3090 in it
There's not too many leaks for the new gens yet tbh
what makes you say that? intel 12th gen is looking very nice too
the small cores are surprisingly capable
boost up to 3.9ghz on 8 cores with IPC similar to skylake
Ok i was just wondering so i dont go frying a reliable board and yeah it has pcie gen 3 slot but im using it till i get my new cpu to swap out the board
Just remember it's still gonna be 8 big cores, they're just adding 4 little cores, which don't have ht either
Well smaller cores can be a little better than no extra cores imo
even though i have no plans to buy alder lake
i am still excited to see how the technology pans out
Don't swap out a cpu just for pcie 4 please
the small cores on an i9-11900K almost equate to an i7-9700 while taking much less power
that's pretty exciting
But considering the i9s went 8c 10c 8c 8c4c like bruh
remember, the PL2 of the 12900K is 228W, which is less than 10900K and 11900K
i9 has 8 small cores, not 4
iirc i7 is 8+4 and i5 is 6+4
Ahh that's what i was thinking of then nvm
Im not swapping because of that but im swapping so my 3090 wont bottleneck the shrimp out of my cpu and so i get decent performance
Ahh fair enough
I wont really have a use for gen 4 pcie
Hardly anyone does tbh
Im just a gamer that wants to play in the best graphics and enjoy it with out having to risk oc
Oc isn't a risk really, not if you get someone experienced to help you as well but ocing (cpus anyway (excluding precision boost overdrive)) have a small improvement
Ocing gpu is vary safe to do
I just tend to stay away from doing anything like that anyway
Your loss i suppose
And well it will be my new gaming rig as i will be selling my old pc to a friend
Iirc doesnt some oc lead to downgrade in performance or is that just from improper oc
I also kinda dont trust oc with a 3090 and a 1000w psu when i will have a new cpu soon as well and i might just stick with the I5-11600K
Or a kf version
Only if you touch voltage, gpu can be oc'd without touching voltage
Oh
No point getting kf, i haven't seen it be cheaper than k ever and the igpu is handy lol
Ok just wondering cause i didnt know if having an igpu can kinda mess with the cpu itself or if it bogged it down a bit at all
Technically it won't benchmark as well, but within less than like .5%
Negligible difference
So would the igpu be capable of running wallpaper engine taking the load off the gpu and not affect the cpu too much? Cause rn wallpaper engine uses like 30% Gpu and i have to pause it when im gaming cause i have dual monitors and i have my other screen usually blank
Ehh you should be able to set the igpu to take the load off wallpaper engine in Windows settings, idk if it will run smoothly but worth a shot
I mainly use audio viz for aesthetics cause im easily amazed by rgb and effects
Thats my use of wallpaper eng
@earnest olive how did you get an i7 and a 3070 in the same pc for 1200
Also how many PCs do you have
Lol
Oh
I say it as a joke
Sure you do
Does anyone know what would cause a PC
To like stutter without high usage on anything
and freeze
Show glue
Liquid metal glue?!
no its just shiny glue
Thats some very shiny glue
yes very
@frank stirrup i tried doing the disk management thing. But when i right click on my pen drive the Delete Volume option is greyed out.
@frank stirrup this is what i did is this okay?
Its like this now
Can you right click
And show properties?
@restive violet
Website says GIGABYTE.bin
also dont use a bios that ends with an alphabet
those are beta bioses. You want a bios that ends with a number
I will try qflashing it, will update the status here after a few hours
so just name it GIGABYTE
.bin is the extension
Okay got it. The support said just download F34 version it should be fine
yep that ends with a number so non beta
hi all, could anyone direct me to where i can get some build advice ?
looking to build a pc in a smaller case with no rgb
here
whats ur budget
and which country do you live in
for local pricing
or do u have all the parts already
Do you guys find that a larger traditional hard drive is still handy in conjunction with a say... 1TB SSD or is the SSD generally adequate for most users?
Depends on you, most people won't use more than 1tb SSD, and even if you run out of space, buying another drive and slapping it in is easy
Good point the MOBO even has a second M.2.
@stoic island you would be proud. I cleaned my laptop inside to out. Was my first time even messing with computer components. (May not sound like much but I'm proud)
I used 99% rubbing alcohol and some q-tips, also some alcohol wipes, air compressor, and lots of tiny screwdrivers
Thank you.
I even ran a bloatware script to remove unwanted files I ended up getting rid of 246GB of unwanted files.
good
And even though my laptop is only dual core 4GB RAM it runs more smooth
I can actually run minecraft now
i would be happ for dat
@frank stirrup how do I know if the qflash update is already done? It was blinking for good 3 minutes then it stopped. My board got its light back on. Looks positive to me. Should I restart the system or just wait longer like 10mins more?
Also, the after the qflashing the board it powered on on itself however when I checked my monitor it didn’t display anything. Is this normal? Should i try to reboot it?
Debug code is AA = reserved
why would you expect your monitor to display anything if you haven't plugged in any display cable
I mean that was earlier took too long to upload.
Display cable is plugged already
Should I restart my system now? I didnt turn it off ever since the qflash stopped blinking. Its about 20mins now
should be good
restart system
plug in monitor and everything
is your usb drive formatted as fat32
fat 32 mbr
Yes fat 32 and mbr
Debug code is AA
did you rename the bios to GIGABYTE.bin
Yes.
is the file unzipped
Okay ill try
flash was successful
its displaying error codes
how do you know it was successful if there's error codes
error codes show too when you have a cpu that's unsupported due to old bios
Because the bios was corrupted to all hell before
no fan spin nothing
now it does stuff
it wasnt an update to the bios
According to the manual Debug code is AA which means reserved. I googled it and its normal according to other people who owns the same model
AA - System has transitioned into ACPI mode. Interrupt controller is in APIC mode

i don't know what that means
This is weird. I tried rebooting it again. Monitor displayed aorus bios logo and it shut down immediately.
pull out 3 sticks of ram clear cmos try again
so its doing something
pull out 3 sticks of ram like sippy said
Theres too many. Just different codes and kept on changing
just the last one
Oh no
Error codes can still show up if the bios is messed up
fans were nt spinning now they are
the flash 100% went through
I had this exact same thing happen to me
Everything worked except it’s stuck in a boot loop
That’s something about the bios just not wanting to work
Well monitor says (at bios display) automatic repair something then shuts down immediately.
Does that keep repeating?
Also automatic repair usually happens when the pc fails to boot a few times in a row
It isnt looping but just total power off
And when i power it on, it shuts itself down automatically.
Just to make sure you installed the motherboard on standoffs?
And did you reset the CMOS?
Yes my case has a built in standoffs
Yes i did reset the cmos with only one stick attached
Ughh this is hella weird. I attached all the ramsticks and it worked again
Well problem solved lol
Looks like im not going to shut this pc down for a year
Okay the qflash eariler was a success @frank stirrup thank you.
Nice
Im still scared tho. What if i shut it off down and it wont work again. This pc of mine is playing with me
Well, it'll be more debugging
And by the way, when you were doing 1 stick of ram, you're putting it in the slot the manual says is preferred, correct? (Usually slot 2)
No problem!
Welp sad there was a power interruption. I have a UPS so was able to shut it down properly. Now I am trying to turn it back on since the power resumed already it wont power on; going back to the issue where it only boots until bios then shuts down immediately.
That’s what I was saying before lol
Yeah I hope so too
Especially since I paid such a low price for it
Every other one I saw was like $350-$400
so many failure points
the worst feeling is when you boot a build successfully as a test bench with no problems
happily build it into a case
and then realize the front usb is dead
peak of pain as a builder
have to tear apart everything to replace a mobo
I remember ripping out my Crosshair to RMA it because of a faulty bios chip
That’s was painful
stuff like front audio and front usb being dead is extra annoying cause is it the mobo or the case
when front usb didn't work in my new case
I hastily put in a different system to test
and it looked hilarious because I didn't want to unmount the 360 rad I had in there
incredibly scuffed lmao
but this helped me determine that the problem was indeed with the original mobo and not the case
had a case where the case's front audio cable was internally severed
asked the customer if he would rather have a new case or $20 off
he said new case cause he wanted to use front audio
so I had to take out my other test mobo and then redo the whole build in the new case
Lmao that looks hilarious
truly a work of art
ship it just like that
hello
people
yes
hii
okay
is there anyone who can help with choosing parts
my budget is 2300
streaming?
i have the set up already planned
just gaming?
gaming
nothing else?
Well you can't exactly get a mouse and keyboard and monitor later unless you already have one lol
i have one
you want a specific color ?
already lmao
black/white
white case
Their budget was 2300 btw
and
i was provided like no context
i'll change if they tell me resolution
Fair
When someone says they have a monitor already it usually is 1080p 60hz or 1080p 144hz
https://www.newegg.com/evga-supernova-650-gt-220-gt-0650-y1-650w/p/N82E16817438186?Item=N82E16817438186 good psu for a 3060 and i5-11400f?
@haughty raven https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3zGWp2 imo this is what you should get
Meh price, msi agf is that price iirc
well its on sale
Yeah but the msi agf is same price and an a tier, while that's b tier iirc
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qvYVNP wait this @haughty raven
Cheaper on Amazon atm
Cool
i actually just finished the actual build for that board yesterday
it's in build pics lol
Oo pog
What lol
Uwu
why 8 core
eh
trading cares mostly about single core performance and having a lot of display outputs
might be best to go with something like 11600K so you can use igpu to add monitors
could run 6 monitors off of igpu + 3080
but idk if they're that into trading to run a 6 monitor setup considering they didn't initially list it as a use case
most people doing that will list it as a primary use
Most people when they say stocks usually are just using like 1 or 2 websites lol
i've had a few customers that were day traders that knew exactly what they needed
Ohh really? How so?
fast single core and at LEAST 4 monitor outputs
It is, but it's not a very good one
closed loop and all-in-one mean the same thing
it's an aio
Oh kk
but eh one
@thorn wyvern get an arctic liquid ii or ek aio or lian li Galahad instead
having a couple graphs on screen is nothing that a 6 core cpu can't handle
just has to be fast single core
Ahh fair enough, i thought they would have a crap tun of tabs open etc but guess not
like maybe you could go 8+ core for the really extreme setups
like the 12 monitor setups
Yeah fair
My first time building by myself and I get the "CPU Fan Error", could this be from a cable not being connected?
Oooh I know this
Change your cpu fan header to one of the ones at the top 3, should be called CPU_FAN or PUMP if it’s an AIO
Someone with almost the same mobo as me yay
Alright trying noe
Now
If it works, does it take you straight to bios?
@vague oracle
Just go to the exit menu, click something about optimized defaults, the save and exit
Reason: Bad word usage
yea np lol, alec did most of the helping
Hahahah
I’ve been using it since the 3700x came out
I technically got the Dark hero for $15
Bundle?
Crypto investment
Nice
crimpo
I got my regular hero in a bundle with a 3700x for $400
crimpocurense
crimop moniae go brrrrr

That’s the first time I’ve seen that one
Lmao
If you don't have a high ambient temp, i would check your cooler mounting btw, make sure no plastic on bottom of cpu cooler or enough thermal paste, and make sure mount was even, screw in cross pattern
58c is quite warm for the bios in my experience
Yeah 58 is a bit high
i sit at 24 in my bios now lol
Unless they live in an oven
Yeah i sit in bios at about 40c or so and it's like 27c here
idk 90c ambient is pretty cool
I have a problem kinda I was just about to leave this discord server because I am losing a lot of hope for having a computer that can actually do something and just losing my love for computer anything and gaming
Still kinda thinking about leaving this server and unsubbing from ltt and a few others
well there's nothing I can do about that you can just
leave
if you don't want to be here
you would probably get some solid help by staying tho just saying
Yea but I won't need the help because I highly doubt I'll ever get a computer that can run triple A games
why not
Because once I am out of high school I won't have time and right now some of my family is saying things like well now he has that watch his grades plummet family members said that when I got a new phone
prove to them your grades won’t plummet. Also get a job and pay for the pc yourself
grades aren't life
^
I got a diploma, worst grades you'd ever see :^)
that diploma is all that matters
if it takes extra time to get it then it takes extra time to get it
that said you'll probably have fine grades
They only matter when you’re trying to get into highschool, once you’re in college as long as your passing you’re fine
people should have leisure time
100%
if you want to spend some leisure time playing video games that's your god given right 😎
Sophomore year me had absolutely no leisure time and look where it got me, it made me wanting to kill myself over stress. Everyone needs leisure time
family members seem to like to rag on their younger members still can't figure out why
it's not helpful in the slightest
In my case it was harmful
Thing is every time I talk about getting a new job sense the people at my last one was a bunch of dumba**** and fired me for no good reason and so when I bring up getting a new job they just say why do you think you need a job or I really don't think you need to be working while in school
then do things to get good references to help
^
Setup fliers and hang them on neighbors doors with your name, phone number and service you offer
yeah
That's weird, it shouldn't be 50+
I just took a pic and it's 37 rn
What cooler is it?
weird
Huh weird
Z73
oof
Oof
I am in deep country area
Overpriced, bad cooling
funny thing is i tried adjusting fans on my pc and with a low idle on cpu fan, and all case fans turned off, i stayed cooler than that in games lol
gpu fans still on
My build is going to have the nzxt z53
plz dont
Lmao don’t
Yep
door to door advertising isn't effective anymore
NZXT and Corsair coolers suck
Or the 63 idk yet
networking is done 😎 online
neither are good
Ok I'll keep the wraith stock cpu cooler on it I don't care about knowing cpu and gpu Temps
GPUZ will do the exact same thing
The LCD screen is a gimmick
As well as overall subpar cooling ability
I'll stick stock
FYI no need for sarcasm here it won’t get you very far
Lmao not you
Mediocre and way too expensive
Ok, cause I was joking hehe
Haha
It's okay for me :-)
No I really will stick with a stock cpu cooler
Thanks for the info though, it will be very useful in the future
Please no, arctic liquid ii has the same asthetic or you can get rgb options with lian li galahad or ek aio
Ehh only really the Galahad has the same aesthetic being a circular pump
For what cpu?
That's good lol
Ryzen 7 3700x
Shush, pretty colours on cpu tho
Don't buy that in 2021
Ok ryzen 9 5950x 900 dollars
No baby 😏 jk
idk
? It's 800$ lol
Exactly what I meant by the sarcasm
👀
In sweden the 5950x is abt $1050
Oh jeez
If it was $800 I would get it instead of the 5900 but that would mean the 5900 would be even cheaper
The 5900x here is $700
Used to be like that here at one point but now it’s back to MSRP
That one was yea
850
And see that's the thing I made a parts list that would work for me that is not 3000 dollars
Let’s see the part list
@marsh kiln why would you even bother comparing 3700x to 5950x anyway btw, compare it to 5800x or 5900x
That means I can get a 3080 for 700
Newegg ryzen 9 5950x is almost 850 dollars
Ok ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I was thinking if the gpu is causing this motherboard not to post.
So i have finally completed the installment of the 1000w psu from a non mod to a full mod
noice
you better hope it's not the gpu
Turns out i had wayyy to many spare cables but i am gonna need two kore pci-e cables when 3090 is here
3090 slot power only
Well qflash is successful yesterday as confirmed by sysviewer when I checked it after the lucky boot. Are the RMAs for GPUs really abysmal?
Usually no, but in the middle of a shortage so yes
Yeah I'd you don't have enough pcie power cables for it ig they should use molex to pcie adapters
is that using like one cable with a split double 8pin pci-e cable?
Correct
oh well thankfully i have spares that came with so i dont do that thanks for letting me know that
i havent even gotten an update on my 3080 rma in a week
did you check shipping to confirm it arrived?
i already bought new pads
nice
https://www.newegg.com/skytech-st-shadow-0277-ne/p/N82E16883289152 thoughts on this?
It seems like a great deal, although I would like a second opinion
Can you control the RGB of the O11 ROG with a software?
Skytech are 💩 from what ive heard https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali507-challenger/p/N82E16883360107R or https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali416-master/p/N82E16883102994R?itemPosition=1-11&exactIndex=0 if you can afford a bit extra
Probs the asus rgb software, think it's called armory crate?
yessirr
doesnt seem to sync
i have this "addressable rgb strip"
LED*
doesnt do sheet
Rip
yoo alright
will keep those in mind
Np
When did you send your GPU for RMA and what’s the issue?
guys should i get a new psu
Btw how did you request for an RMA? Is it just the same support ticket? Do you have a link for it?
will the x570 work with 5900x right out of the box or is tht always a gamble
Just get b550 smh
wouldnt i just run into the same problem? lol
bios flashback
if the board has bios flashback, you don't need another cpu
ayo so i have an i7-11700 with a 3060 and i was wondering if i should get a better psu i only have a 500w coolermaster 80+ bronze right now
I mean, unless you want to do 11700 with no pl
wdym no pl
power limit
default pl is what, 105w?
but it can pull like 200-300w if you let it
so oc it?
Hello, anyone knows where can I get my hands on some MSRP parts to build my own gaming pc?I have just wasted 3500$ on a defective dell alienware aurora r12 due to the crappy psu and motherboards with crappy software that they use and dont even know if Ill get my money back as all they do is try to force "repair" onto me which I do not want as Im certain they cant repair it lot of people have the same issue and its caused by their motherboard and rams they use which bottleneck the entire system and wont allow the cpu and gpu to run on its full potential.
Is this a good pc https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali506/p/N82E16883360106
@echo vale depends on a lot more
There's one with basically same specs that's like 1500 on best buy iirc
Link it plz
To start off, one with better CPU for 1600$
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i7-11700f-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-1tb-hdd-512gb-ssd/6455823.p?skuId=6455823
Gonna find the one I was thinking of
Ya what about the fans
What
?????
@fading oyster ask them if there's a 24pin on the mobo
If yes, probably standard PSU, and can just upgrade mobo
The fans are ass
Wat
And cpu cooler is bad
You can easily change that with the money you save
My mom thinks I’mma break it
I know but
i got a prebuilt and swapped cases and fans and everything and my parents are insanely strict so i told them if i broke it i would pay for it
I wanna spend money on a computer I saved up on but it has to be 5 stars lol
If you want a 5 star pc you kinda want to do it yourself, or at least some parts
Swapping cases ez and you can't break
but ive never taken a look at one
Nope can’t my mom won’t allow it
Nzxt blehhhh
ya that case swap i did on my prebuilt was the first time i've ever touched the inside of a pc and i did it easily
At least like this at 1750$
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali455/p/N82E16883360039
Is the case good? Are the fans good
It's a prebuilt
This one looks to have better airflow than the first one
And fans are fans
It's the best you're gonna get for a prebuilt, airflow wise
Fans are also the easiest thing to swap out
4 screws and a connector, no need to take anything else off other than the side panel
You don't even know how good the fans in the first one is >:p
Honestly of it were me I'd go 5600x and b550 since you'd save money and still perform just as good in gaming and stuff for the most part
B550 VS X570? Which is better??
go b550 5600x
B550 for most people
better vrms and still all thee features you need
Hmm which b550 mobo is good?
msi A-pro is good, asus tuf is good and gigabyte elite or pro are good
Can u do from least best to top?
what cpu do you have or are you getting
Prob ryzen 7 but ppl say get ryzen 5 5600x so either
5600x>3700x easy
Hmm
Only really get a x570 if you really need all those extra pcie gen 4 lanes
B550 has enough for a gpu and a m.2 to run in gen 4.0
Some ppl need more tho, so that's why x570 exists
2 connectors. Fans dont push any air if their RGB is not on
nope
yep
Depnds on the GPU and resolution you are playing at. For example I am using a 3070 and I play at 1440p. with that setup the difference between the 3700 and 5600 is negligable
that doesnt mean the 3700x is better
^
im not saying it better
5600x has the same multicore but about 30% better single core
im saying that the answer is nto that clear cut
3700 beats 5600 in real world multi core applications
> means left side is bigger than right side
and the 5600x does beat or tie with the 3700x in everything
nope
by an insingnificantly small margin
Also, pretty sure that's just you being GPU bound in games
6 fast cores>8 slow ones
Or the very few games that actually leverage all the cores
exactly
Nope, they’re they are pretty much the same. I’ve tested them in person
Depends on the task ofc
again u being gpu bound doesnt make ur 3700x be better than a 5600x
Obviously
please read what I said rawr. I never said it does. Im saying the answer is not clear cut
And im saying it is
It is clear cut
and you have not proven it
If you spend some time with curve optimiser you can easy beat a 3700x in pretty much everything
The only advantage the 3700x has is 2 extra cores but they don’t even help improve multicore performance
Data time
Our review of the AMD R5 5600X CPU is now up. We're testing it mostly in gaming vs. the Intel i5-10600K crown-holder, the AMD R9 5900X, 5950X, and many others. 5800X next.

yep a lead in all games
a lead in photoshop
lead in video transcode
and it was close in other benchmarks where 3700x won by a small margin
@tight sorrel
5600x also dropping steadily in prices, well worth it
Yep
here we go. extrapolate the data. unless you playing at 1080p with a 3080 or higher, the difference is negligable
That's also borderlands being borderlands
Afaik borderlands 3 is extremely amd biased GPU wise
latest steam hawrdware
no, thats YOUR bad
But also
I meant to link anandtech testing for their synthetic and other workloads
Anandtech gaming testing is iffy at best
and this is supposed to explain what exactly
JEEZE
that literally for the majority of users the difference in gaming between a 3700 and 5600 will be neglible
Wth lol
something about it only making a difference at 1080p with a 3080?
lmfao
another one
"This is also typically run at JEDEC subtimings where possible. It is noted that some users are not keen on this policy, stating that sometimes the maximum supported frequency is quite low, or faster memory is available at a similar price, or that the JEDEC speeds can be prohibitive for performance. While these comments make sense, ultimately very few users apply memory profiles (either XMP or other) as they require interaction with the BIOS, and most users will fall back on JEDEC supported speeds"
Oml
another one
Anyways
Reason: Bad word usage
Can we just end it at 5600x is either same or better than 3700x
I think that'll be enough for the day
Like I get why they didn't include xmp
Anandtech is weird
But jeez its a performance benchmark
Ian cutress is great
At least include both data sets
2fps. good point proven there
show me a game where the 3700x has a massive lead child
lol.
whatever you say bud
Enough has been said
Me with my 3800x
We accept the pain that is our 3800x
It is our duty as 3800x owners
We are still going on about 5600x>3700x?
Nah
Oh thank goodness
Just bringing up the 3700x’s twin brother who’s slightly better then him
We're accepting that we have a 3800x
wait, are we talking the 5600x or 3800x here?
3800x good days
3700x and 3800x are practically the same thing was just joking around about a price premium for slightly better boosting behavior

It’s like negligible
Was my 2nd build which had a 3800x
I know. was trolling a bit
Can we all agree, worst cpu value goes to 11900k
Of course
If we all agree, world peace achieved
not just value. everything
its a 10900k in drag isnt it?
I still have a brand new 10900k sadly sitting in its box atm
imc?
Oh no
Integrated memory controller
Integrated memory controller
World peace broken
Mining in the winter, great heating solution
if you get 2, you can heat your entire house
Just run cp2077 on 8k ultra in an H510 24/7
H510 elite, h510 would just be warm XD
@vague oracle did you have the crosshair viii?
i just plugged another internal hdd into my pc and its not showing up in file explorer, im pretty sure i have to initialize the drive but im not sure how.
- did you plug in both power and signal into the hdd?
- does it show up in bios?
bios has to recognize it first then you can format it for use
Disk manager is where you should be able to initialise it
Has anybody used cdkeyoffers? Are they a legit Windows 10 seller?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gPRpTJ i would do this
May as well go 750w for 10$ more if you don't mind doing mail in rebate
Also nicer hdd
POG
And in multicore workloads this thing will dominate that 11400f
Idk why I keep making these builds....... not like I am getting them anytime soon lmao
Lol
I will stick to my dual core 4GB RAM 2011 laptop for now I guess
Cant even run minecraft hardly
Dont make em then
Wastes less if ur and our time
what would you guys recommend for $1700? (about $50 of wiggle room) for streaming and gaming of course
Any specific features you want?
ryzen processor, ddr4-3200, some rgb is fine though not necessary
Why ryzen?
personal preference for the most part
But you'll be paying more for a cpu that performs the same in your price range anyway really
True tho
@granite linden do you need monitor and peripherals
yeah i know, Intel just feels tacky
Intel is life
^ true if that's included in the price no way you going ryzen
i got everything else no need to worry about it
It's same difference, my pc is ryzen my bros is intel, they are basically identical to build in and once it's build you couldn't tell the difference
Only difference is that ryzen cpus have the cooler pull them out
Why does it say invalid user wtf
@granite linden s
Sorry for possible double ping but it's saying the 1st didn't work for me

Cpu aesthetics that's a first
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nttxz7 if you where to go ryzen, you would have to give up your aio for it to be worth it but
@granite linden
well with the aio i wouldnt have to stare at it so problem solved
now to find a 3070 thats actually $700
I went aio because you mentioned rgb and most people like the look of aios so
@granite linden wdym by you wouldn't have to stare at it then
wouldnt have to see the cpu
You wouldn't have to see the cpu anyway..... They will always have a cooler on it
@granite linden lmao stock coolers are generally bleh anyway, no way you're using a stock cooler for your budget
this is true
You still can’t see the cpu with the stock cooler….
well i know it's in it that's the ew part
same with cable management
you may not see the back but you know the mess of chords of there
No lmao i shove all my cables in the back and just make the front nice
Well
You could just not go for it
But intel is still budget rn
If you wanna save a buck that's where you go
I mean i gave a 5800x option so they could just to with that
could just ask for extra shifts if necessary
I gave you a ryzen build that was in budget?
Eh
Scyth fuma 2
Nhd15
I don't remember if a drp4 cools an oced 5800x well
All air coolers btw
Yeah drp4 is d15 fuma level
Well there you go
Then do the ryzen list and save up the extra hundo or so
Extra hundo is in one paycheck though
i dont pay bills
So you want wireless psu then
Paycheck is when you get paid from work ;-;
Lmfao
yes 🗿
Ahh
that would be hella expensive
Hella impossible
Np
anyone familiar with hydro x series pump?
having a dilemma with using corsair commander hub, not having enough fan headers on it to connect the hydro series pump and fans, confused at how to have the pump running
Plug the pump into your motherboard? You shouldn’t put the pump on the commander pro anyways really. Put it on the pump header on your mobo because it is kinda specific for pumps
Yes

Hey guys, I am currently looking for a Laptop and besides the usual things like light photo editing, rendering, internet stuff etc. that every modern CPU handles pretty well to some extent I am mainly going to use it for coding. The question I have stumbled upon now is "How well do usual programming tasks like obv coding itself, but also compiling, program analysis, working with databases etc. scale with multi-threading?". This would basically answer if I should go for an Intel or AMD chip.
Do keep in mind, nowadays, AMD can match Intel in single core on the current gen chips.
They can?
Maybe I have overlooked it because I am facing the issue of having very specific requirements
Can you link to any good benchmarks on that subject because I have seen a lot of the ol' "Intel > AMD in single, AMD > Intel in multi"
For example, 5900hs and like an 11900h
Yeah, the thing is I need it for CS Uni and one of my requirements is a battery life of at least 6-8h under use so no h for me
You'll have to scroll down a bit to find the benchmarks
But they're quite closely matches on all fronts
That's the thing, I want 8> h of battery life, decent screen for working outside, enough power to have low compile times and no problems running larger IDEs like IntelliJ and VS, and lastly I really want a 2in1 because the notes people are able to take using these are just too damn good
There's also passmark
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-9-5900HS-vs-Intel-i9-11900H/3905vs4436
(Also it should run Linux but I have come to accept the fact that I might need to write my own drivers for stuff like autorotate)
Any modern laptop should be able to run Linux
@static dagger what's the budget?
I can help you start looking at specific laptops
2000, I obviously don't need to spend it all, but if I can spend a little more for a lot better of a laptop I would, and if I can get a slightly worse laptop for a lot less, I would, too.
Alright, no needs for gaming, correct?

@glossy mason that's a hard drive
Oh
Not a ssd
😦
HDD -> Hard Disk Drive
If it can run CS:GO or Valorant on an external display at >60 fps that'd be great but that's more of a want and less of a need
I am going to delete all of that so I don't make myself look like a fool
too late lol ;)
Clearly.
Might be another reason to go AMD xD
AMD integrated graphics are vastly superior to Intel integrated graphics in genes of performance for now.
Interesting
Would this be a good one though? Still budgeting. https://www.newegg.com/team-group-1tb-t-force-vulcan-g/p/N82E16820331555?Item=N82E16820331555
I have been taking a close look at the HP Envy x360 but sadly it only comes with the Zen2 5700u which lacks the better single core performance and Vega graphics
Vulcan g is the crappier version of Vulcan, vulcan is fine, vulcan g is dramless and sad
Honestly, I'd just go for a Samsung Evo, pretty sure they have been some of the best on the market for like years by now.
Samsung has been slacking for m.2 drives but if you're going 2.5in drives, smth like a 860evo isn't a bad idea either
mx500 is another option
wd blue works too
I actually might go with WD
I could work my magic, sell some stocks, and then boom.
Wait, could you have different SSDs and the computer will still work fine or do they have to be the same
unless you're going to raid them, different drives will work fine
^
^
hm
I wish I could afford 1tb 2.5" ssd
So that I could easily just swap the hdd in my laptop instead of havin to get a caddy
Alright and pfew. Got worried.
I forgot which one I have but I am happy to hear that
I have a tiny 120 gigs ssd with 1tb hdd that came with the laptop
Honestly, I want to upgrade this thing enough so that when I sell it, I might be able to cover most of the costs of the next build.
Any ideas?
I could also help :p
What's your needs? Want it light? Do you care about batt life?
looking like all the two in one laptops have relatively low end chips...
Purpose is mainly coding, two in one preferred iirc, battery life is a concern, working outside is a concern
this could be a start, but not two in one

looking for a pc in between 1300usd to 2600
That's a huge price range, would ya like to narrow it down a bit
umm okay 1300 to 2000
Do you want the best one in that price range? What are you going to be doing on the computer? Do you need peripherals like monitor and keyboard?
^
i dont need peripherals rn just the pc
im gonna be playing cod and val and mc and sot
so basically gsme
i want it to handle heavy games
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali479-gladiator/p/N82E16883360074R?itemPosition=1-12&exactIndex=0 i would do this if you're tryna save money, https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali502/p/N82E16883360097?itemPosition=1-12&exactIndex=1 if you wanna max out but it's not worth the premium for that one tbh
But do you have keyboard and mouse yet
You cant use a pc without keyboard and mouse buddy
if im using 2 of the same m.2 on a motherboard should i do raid or watever idk how tht works if so
or should i not worry about it
Nah dw
I dont think raid is for m.2
1st link aint working
kk
It is for me?
Ohh are you not in the us?
@blazing pilot there's no point converting prices and availability are different in different regions, where do you live and what's the local currency budget?
@bright timber I know it's been a couple days but I just saw it in #build-pics. I would go ASUS TUF z490 (good enough and cheaper), LianLi lancool 215 (same price range, better thermals), Noctua NH-U12S (same price, better thermals, quieter), and maybe shoot for 3600 MHz ram kit of the same brand and size if it's in your budget. If you don't want to swap the MOBO, then fine, but I highly recommend you swap your cooler to the NH-U12S. It's the same price as the one you have and for $9 more, you can get it in cromax black.
They've been dealt with, they were in Australia so prices are higher than usd, u12s is meh, scythe fuma 2 or hh u12a would be a good bit better btw, also the lian li 215 is also a hard plastic front
darn it, sorry, I scrolled #building-and-recc-chat up to 7/19/21 but I couldn't see anyone mentioning it, so I figured they hadn't been dealt with.
