oh makes sense my bad anyways will my motherboard and cpu help me last for the 4000 series
sure
Alright so all I need to change is powersupply and Ram then I'm all set?
Hi actually I wanted to promote an upcoming event, where can I do that?
in a different server
F
@earnest olive What's the difference between the 10400f and 11400f?
11400 is slightly faster
that's all
well
no there's one other thing
if you put 10th gen cpu in a 500 series board you will not be able to use the top m.2 slot
bottom m.2 slot will function
none of the other differences are really relevant to you
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7gDHHz
don't actually buy the 11400 at this price, wait and see if it drops again, it should be around $180/190
it's just out of stock in most places right now due to overwhelming popularity
Which is why I'm waiting for prices to go back down, @earnest olive I got the games I play the most working on Linux, including one of my really old games (Earth 2150), so now I am just waiting until GPU prices for Radeon cards come back down a bit
Alright thanks I appreicate it also is there a fully modular psu you could recommend instead.
why do you want fully modular
fully modular is harder to cable manage than semi-modular
cables you were going to plug in regardless coming out of one spot instead of all over the psu is just easier
and regardless- it's not an issue in the p360a as it has ample space
@earnest olive I suck at cable manage with psu that are wired I just feel comfortable knowing where the cables go with full modular.
i did a build in the p360a today using a non modular psu PLUS extensions
was not at all a struggle to make it fit
if you suck at cable management... like i said... semi modular is easier than fully modular
basically the only point of going fully modular is if you want a fully custom cable set that's not extensions
and considering those cost like 5 times more than extensions... pointless imo
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qkktht anyhow... if you truly insist on fully modular
there you go
@earnest olive that's true okay thanks for the build.
your a chad thanks I was going to buy cable extensions anways since I like my builds being aesthetic.
@earnest olive thats a really nice build now that I think of it this is a midtower case cable managing is going to be easier to manage.
that's using the segotep gp so 2 cpu power, 4 pcie power, 6 sata power, 5 molex power, and 1 floppy power all hiding in there
even non-modular was perfectly fine
but i do a lot of builds so i have a lot of experience with cable management
anyways i don't see a semi-modular psu ever being an issue, especially since you don't need any sata
p360a is a great case this was my first time using it and I will buy it again
yea man thats my problem this is my third build everytime I gotta watch videos on how to cable manage other than that putting it together is no problem.
I don't have the money to build that much since I live in the bay area.
so do i
i just don't pay for them
i sell the builds, so the customers are paying for the parts
@earnest olive I wouldn't be able to do that I mean it could be fun if you like it but, the amount you get out of it must be low cause of shipping and stuff right?
i don't ship
bay area people are rich
people buy gaming pcs
making a roughly $700 profit off of the build i just showed
cost me somewhere around $1400 to build, selling for $2070
mostly due to buying used hardware and getting a 3070 at msrp
They're just used to paying more for things
lol, you should see socal
I have 😫
grew up in the bay area, socal prices made my head spin
That makes sense props to you bro I wouldn't be able to do that as I suck at taking good pictures of the build must be the area I'm living in bay area.
cannot believe people will pay $7 for a 16oz cup of boba and $20 for an average lunch
$20 not including the boba
10600k won't let you overclock on a b560 you want a z490 or z590
I would also get an msi g242/g241 instead of that monitor
can you guys look this over?
originally was going to get a i5-11600k with this build but found an 11400 that i might be able to get
also switched mobo from z590 to b560
just wondering if it was still reasonable
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Bmb9Mv
Yes just know that the 11400 regularly is available for 189 and shouldn't be bought at that price, also you don't need to spend that much on a cooler, an id cooling se 224xt or vetroo v5 or gammaxx 400 will do nicely
@charred knot
If you can i'd go for the 11600k
Since you have 3070
But 11400 is perfectly fine
nice thanks guys
Np
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/C97NMv jus some personal changes
dont see a need for such a 'premium' case like the LC2Mesh
P360A/P400A also works here
True, i left it cause i figured it was a personal pick
p360A definitely a good alternative
more than likely user will only be running the kit at XMP, so the SPG 3200C16 @ 25 USD cheaper is a better option
Never heard of that
I dunno if i would buy 25usd ram
its 70 USD..
SPG 3200C16 @ 25 USD cheaper
Ah
i am blind
all good
Good pick
25 usd ram
I think they wanted the lancool ii mesh it was in their og list, and 3600 is a reasonable perf jump on 11th gen especially
worth 25 extra usd..? send benches pls
Lol no but like 15$ worth mb
lol
Vulcan Z 3200C16 - 72 USD - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/z3VD4D
if you dont like the look of the SPG
I would trust team slightly more too tbf and looks nicer
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9WLTLP this is my new list
I put that monitor cause it’s cheap for 165hz adjustable
The monitors i listed are better and the same price
@icy kestrel https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9KLmt8
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MwnRdD but if you can afford it get this instead
I want my estimate to be 2000 but there are parts that I might find at micro center today for cheaper so if I have space for it then I’ll get it
You could always get a scythe fuma 2 instead btw, it's a very good air cooler if you don't mind the fact it's not an aio or rgb
is 750w enough for 3070 ti and i5-11600k?
Would incompatible ram cause no display output?
should spit out beep codes or debug led message
I don't even know of I have the mono speaker hooked up...
mine should be but I've never needed to use it
have you plugged the video cable into the right output port?
Hdmi.
when installing a gpu I just plug in both the mobo and the gpu in the case of older hardware, gotta manually change the default vga in the bios
Incompatible ram would cause a display errors but should still have video output
No GPU yet
do you have igpu?
don't tell me
Yeah.
are you certain
Has this machine turned on before
Nope. First time build haha
incompatible ram shouldn't even fit in the motherboard
lol
i5-8400, asrock b365m pro mobo
it's probably the same gen ram
it fits but MOBO site says it is incompatible
ddr4
not being on the QVL does not make it incompatible
I have ram installed that's not on ASUS's qualified vendor list
just not validated
i overclock the crap out of ram that's not on the QVL
works great daily
Hello @earnest olive
i forgert the PSU brand, but its 600w
cool master
at least it's not the warm master
same here I forgert what my psu is

do you have a dgpu
or using integrated
ill take tepid master, if this dang tower will work
are there any bad tier cm psus
trying to use integrated to get the thing running, then drop in a 1060
i see
smart move
shut it down, remove 1 ram stick and leave 1 in, then clear cmos
see if it boots
i pulled the battery, about to check
pulling battery is unnecessary on most boards
most non-oem boards have clr cmos jumper
dunno how to use jumper
connect a piece of conductive metal to both pins to short them
hold for 15 seconds
remove and done
the list of objects i've used to short pins has grown quite comical
i got my mom to turn on a pc using a knife
still no display..
i'd like to ask which slots you have installed the ram into
slot 1
ive heard of some boards not booting with ram in wrong slots
no dice on slot 2
not common but it's a thing
were all of these parts working before
could just be something defective
if i use the m.2 slot, do i need to run an cables or just plut it in.
no cables
ram worked before i puttin it in. everything was bought new
new 8400 and b365?
oh
maybe it is a bad mobo
so the ram you're using right now is different from the ram that was tested to work?
yeah
probably bad ram
ram worked in a different tower
maybe he sent a picture of a different tower working
possible
any test for a bad mobo?
Finally got around to finishing the build. About to try and boot for the first time 🤞
no, i already had the 1060
try just booting with the 1060, possible that the igpu has failed
oh
well try anyways
he may have been using a different on tho, i will slap the 1060 in
how long did you pull the battery for
5min or so
it's also a possibility that bios is set to disable igpu and you didn't pull battery long enough to reset
did you make sure power supply was switched off when you pulled battery
most bios disable igpu by default when system is used with dgpu
i don't think it will reset correctly if psu is not switched off
i'd just use jumper method
just connect the posts with no power right?
yes make sure system is turned off
Weird banding and a slight flicker in Windows setup. Possible it’s just a driver thing since it’s a brand new build?
banding?
i dont see anything besides what lcds normally look like on phone cameras lol
look at it in browser
K, I’ll do that if Windows sets up properly
ive had some wacky visual things that were fixed by just doing that
Damn this m.2 is insanely fast
gaming
is this worth it for $1600 has stock coolerhttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/gWHmt8
lol, no
3600 for $240

ive done 5800x + 360mm liquid cooler + 3080 for around that price
get an i5-10600K if you want to buy right now, it's at a decent price
otherwise wait for the i5-11400 to come back to normal price
still no luck with all that
is the H510 elite case good?
no display out put anywhere
given all the info you've given me i predict 95% chance that mobo has failed
you did try jumper method right?
to clear cmos
there a way to use one tower to diagnose the one thats not working?
you can get a little dongle device to diagnose an iphone
dunno about computers lol
Will a 970 work well with a Ryzen 5 3700x
Windows product key info is stored in bios isn’t it? So if I have a new Mobo/cpu all that I’ll need a new key won’t I?
probably
I know someone was throwing around a link for Windows keys is that legit?
easy enough, just buy a key off ebay or log in with your microsoft account
Just login with Microsoft account to buy a new key you mean?
no, logging in with your microsoft account attaches a key linked to your account to your computer
or it should
dont buy that, old cpu, slow ram , awful case
if you want a good case with glass specifically get corsair 4000x or 5000x
So far the computer has booted and got me into BIOS. Allowed me to do a fresh install of Windows on my new m.2
My AIO and case fans aren’t lighting up but I’m thinking that’s just a simple connection mistake by me
Looks like I need a new Windows 10 key though since I changed CPU
When my SSD failed on my old build it let me do it. But I believe that’s because it was the same CPU, which I’m pretty sure stores your Windows 10 key
This is a new build with the same storage drives, but all new cpu etc
Is there any limit to the number of ARGB daisy chain fans you have in one link? Also, if the fan only has the ARGB connector but you’ve just got a normal RBG header on your Mobo any way to make that work?
you should be able to reuse the same key it will just "deactivate the other computer "
My old key was an OEM one I think that’s why it won’t let me
the limit would be amperage of the source
if the fans don't list the LED amperage in their spec sheet then stick to 3 or less per daisy chain to be safe
usually you can go up to 4-5 though
it should do
may i recommend the metallicgear neo qube instead
o11 clone
for much cheaper
Fair i just biased against o11d type cases
why?
The airflow turbulence mess it causes lol also i just don't like the look really lol but that's preference
the real 011D
Thermaltake today rolled out the Versa H18 Window Micro case. Characterized by a wide body and a front bezel dominated by mesh, this micro-ATX case is made of SECC steel and ABS plastic, with a prominent clear-acrylic side-panel window. Front panel connectivity includes one USB 3.0 type-A port...
(ignore that it's not even ATX)
😎
it's the best airflow you can get with a glass front
Yeah ik but it still just feels wrong to me idk
Yeah
They only have 10600k
idk i love it
Micro center haven't had it
when i first got into pc building
i wanted to make a display case looking build
o11 style case is the ultimate "display case" imo
Just get an 11600k online? I sent you a list with that for 2k ?
@fossil cedar https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9WLTLP
That’s my list
Should I just get the 10600k instead
@icy kestrel https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9KLmt8
the decent b560s were mostly out of stock or near z590 prices last night
but 11400 is better so
dunno if it's different today
epic 11600k is cheaper than 11400 rn
lmao
but yeah you have to be careful choosing b560 boards
a lot of the lower end is... not great
some of them will even hold back an i5-11400
Everything but like ds3h should be ok
hm
maybe just avoid asrock and gigabyte entirely for b560
asus and msi boards also have some
msi pro-vdh / asrock pro4 are the cheapest rn that wont hold back an i5
need to go up to like, tomahawk / aorus pro / tuf to not hold back an i9
At that point you could just get a z590 prime almost :/
and those arent much cheaper than z590 ud
Or ud yeah
Oh really? I thought it was decent
it's hard to remember asus alphabet soup
@fossil cedar they didn’t have the mobo psu and case monitor
Someone recommended evga psu so I got that one
It’s the same amount wats
Model is more important, what model matters
Yeah micro center are only really good for cpu deals and gpus
For what cpu, 11600k? Z590 gigabyte ud or something
I got the 11600k
I can't think of diff monitor off the top of my head ask in #old-monitors-and-tv
Is the Noctua NH-U12S chromax black a good air cooler? I’m looking for a smaller air cooler (that wont push up against ram either, i have 4 sticks of trident z rgb), not too loud, and fits into the 4000d airflow case.
Get the scythe fuma 2 instead
I have an issue: my mobo doesn’t have a jcorsair header and I can’t plug the Corsair hub in. Are there any adapters I can buy? My mobo is an x470 MSI gaming pro max
What corsair hub do you have?
Rgb lighting
hub should have internal usb 2.0 9-pin to interface with mobo no?
Yes
I don’t think I have one. Could you send a picture for reference
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GGbMht how much do y’all think I could sell this for?
Corsair and MSI once had a special cable for those hubs
for money
jcorsair1
Or you can buy a Lightning Node Pro and plug the RGB hub into it
Corsair stuff is so annoying
can't believe they even sold 10105s
let alone 10105f
never saw them on the market
is this good?
yeah those are good prices
if i was still in irvine i'd grab them myself
assuming the freezer is 280/360
Anyone know a good universal ARGB fan-hub?
I should have looked into it but my Mobo only has one ARGB header and 2xRGB headers. But I’ve got two sets of fans that are ARGB
read the third line
"as well as a used arctic liquid freezer 360"
oh yeah
ye
Tried, they aren’t lighting up. I think there are too many in a line
It’s 6 fans total. 3 on my AIO and 3 on my case
I’ll try some different setups
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xtvJLP any mobo and monitor suggestions
Besides a Z590-v
M27q
Z590-a pro
Best monitors for around $280?
M27q…
too expensive
What’s your max budget?
maybe 290
Save up 20 more dollars and get a M27q
I wouldn’t recommend a curved va panel, curved screens are typically more of gimmick but can be a aesthetic choice I guess. IPS>va>tn
I’d suggest looking at rtings for reviews of any screens you find
Just as a blanket statement the M27q basically out classes everything in its price/performance range.
Any recommendations on a $250 one?
You’d probably be looking at 1080p under $250
270?
Man if your just gunna stay around the 300 mark I gotta say just save up, if you get tht nitro btw I’d suggest getting a Amazon’s basics vesa mount for it
The panel is pretty great just the stand isn’t the best
Bum 50$ off a buddy 👀
Well, after a new Windows key we are up and running with the new build! 👍
Only thing that isn’t on point is the ARGB fans but that’s not a big deal
What the best software for managing EK AIO fans/pump temps etc
HWiNFO64 for reading temps
I think GN recommended that one I’ll get it now
Interesting. This utility shows my ram at 1802 MHz but I have it set to 3600 is that normal?
Yessir
How about a good fan monitoring/setup tool? For my AIO and GPU specifically
For setting up fan curves/temp settings etc
the bios typically
I used speedfan on my grandma's old old pc but that doesn't work with anything new
there's some newer softwares that fill the shoes of speedfan more or less
DRAM frequency is half the label number, so 3600/2
for me, 1600/2, 800mhz
usually taskmanager shows the label number and more specific programs like HWiNFO show the true freq
Are there good rules for setting up fan curves in bios? I’ve never messed with it before
I know you always want your pump block at 100% and that was set by default when I looked earlier

yea
that's pretty much it afaik
don't really know fan curve wizardry
down to your preference imo
I’ll try and find a video on it
I will say in the short time I’ve used the new build this freakin CPU is sweet
nice
which cpu?
I like to do a exponential curve ya know like on them graphs of population over time
Ryzen 7 5800X
nasa computer probably
which area tho
Global pop or do u mean on what fan
Man I kinda miss the wormhole thing
ayo
just wanna thank you all
helping me max out the pc 🙏
thanks to everyone that helped me ❤️
yes
@fossil cedar I bought the 3 fan cooler but I saw a video with and he said he had to get a 240 cooler for the 4000D case instead of the 280 he was going to get cause of no space and my coolers 360
That's a lie, you can mount the 360mm radiator on the front
He had a 240 and it look like barley any space left
Trust me there is space for a 360mm, you take that bit out it's removable
Yes so is the one in the pic
Would it look ugly if I take it out?
not really lol
No it looks normal, I'll get you a pic
11600k iirc
^
Taken from #build-pics it's not a 4000d airflow but it's same idea
I would NOT buy an 11600k tbh...
11600k+z590 mobo costs as much as a 5600x and a b550 board
5600x still outperforming it
Yeah that's fine
It was that or a 10600k
My 11600k is 11th
11600k over 10600k anyway
I got it for 240
That's decent
its almost like thats what the 11 at the start of 11600k stands for.....
Micro center does price matching
5600x beats both
mb
I get $20 off if I buy the mobo
Ik yeah but think they wanna oc
5600x can be oced
Ehhh 5000 series is more just curve and pbo i guess it's up to them tbh
and the OCed 11600k barely manages to pass the stock 5600x in certain games from GN testing iirc
5600x + b550 board>>>>>>>>>>>>>>11600k + z590 board
11600k sometimes beats 5900x
very few cases and small margin
Doesn’t amd cost more
Look at cpu + mobo prices
Not really when you're getting an 11600k anyway
not just cpu
Aye
Well I don’t want specifically z590
and you can OC on those
z490 boards arent much better
TL;DR OCing on intel needs a Z series board which are expensive, but you can OC on a b550 board on the amd side which are cheaper
I just need suggestions on mobos cause I don’t really wanna order it online cause no $20 off
Intel - cheaper cpu, expensive mobo
AMD - expensive CPU, cheaper mobo
Go 5600x over 11600k
And would need a bios update
better perf for very similar price
and boards with flashback are NOT cheap
Have you got the cpu yet?
Ye :(
Yup
Speaking of which, Imagine not having bios flashback pato. Couldnt be me.
can u return?
What’s flashback
Then how are you getting 20$ off if you haven't bought cpu with the mobo yet???
I think only store credit
ability to update bios without a cpu or gpu
thats fine
They said if I buy a mobo within 15 days and show them the receipt they’ll give me the 20 off
buy a 5600x with an aorus elite (wifi if want)
;-; i bought a cheap ass board okay
I only bought the cpu
I see yeah okay lemme look at what micro center has
btw pato google ;-;
I don’t think they had any amd in store so can you help pick a mobo for my cpu just in case they don’t have amd
What lol?
@fossil cedar What time is for you if you don’t mind me asking
12 right?
@icy kestrel if going amd i would go b550 aorus pro p with 5600x or if you don't wanna return i would go msi z590 a pro or gigabyte ud ac if you want WiFi
12.06 yeah
Am or pm
noon
Cause I notice you answer more when it’s past midnight for me
Imagine having a working flashback
Yeah noon, i always get confused between 12 am and pm
@icy kestrel my timezone is IST
Last time I used flashback it bricked my board, but that’s just because crosshair mobos are a bit wonky with it
Same
What are the prices on both of them combined
No MINE is IST
Oof
11600k +z590 a pro :189+240?-20 = 409 5600x +b550m aorus pro-p 150+280-20=410
If the price was 240 for 11600k?
WAIT SO U MEAN TO TELL ME WE LIVE IN THE SAME TIMEZONE AND ITS STILL A 4.5 HR TIME GAP?!
My brain hurts now

@frank stirrup just in the summer, half the year it's ist, when not daylight savings it's gmt
So then your timezone changes to IWT?
irish winter time or something?
No lol
@frank stirrup it's ist still ;-;
@frank stirrup nvm nvm it's not irish summer time it's Irish standard time in daylight savings, Greenwich mean time in not daylight savings
Yee
matx
matx?
in an atx case?
Yes
Matx in an atx case looks like garbage
Atx
I know I look like garbage
good
@fossil cedar I bought a warranty with the cpu do you know if I’d get my money back on that too?
Whaaaa?
Intel gives warranty with the cpu... you cant BUY warranty
1 why and 2 idk lol, extended warranties are basically a scam
When you buy a product you get a warranty anyway
Oof
I think I can cancel the warranty
Pretty sure I can
Can type c be used
With the mobos
Yes with some of em
which ones?
The ones pato said
I would only get an extended warranty on like a gpu, never a cpu
MSI one has
other one he suggested also has
I’m gonna go with this one
gn
NP
@bright timber post your pc part picker link here and I'll help
Btw @thorn wyvern that's for build pics only, you're supposed to use general or here or one of the other channels to talk
Ohhhh kk
@fossil cedar Doesnt let me post pics on this channel 😮
You have to be level 3
Im a noob
Yeah ik, that's why i said post the link
Im an idiot
@bright timber this link btw
It's fine lol
Cool I'll have a look now
if the motherboard pcb is black, and the case's inside is black
it literally does not matter
not like it should matter anyway
@bright timber what's your budget btw?
Its a build for my mate, so his a bit flexible. maybe under 2k
Okay
They are in Australia lol
Reason: Bad word usage
Also @fossil cedar , you see in the notes section. Would that be problem?
I KEEP FORGETTING
Yeah lol Aud 😦
Nope it's pretty normal
oki ta
@bright timber do they want specific features for the motherboard like wifi etc?
yes, please.
Ok
Thats about it, its really just a entry level for em.
Everything has better alternatives pretty much.
Would you mind giving some examples if possible?
Wait for patos list, since he’s making one I don’t wanna bother making a different cuz we’re probably gonna come up with similar results. If I have suggestions I’ll make them
@bright timber https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/JXmtht
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/msHHHz this maybe if the want the usb c port on the front of the case to work
Nop
look at pics
lol
looks fine :/
Ew
so if i have issues, is this where i go?
Issues with
build
Ask a question
I agree, it is nice for extra slots but ehh
im building a pc and im having issues with the cooler, it's supposed to latch onto the bracket but it's not
You're gonna have to read the coolers manual, it will have full instructions
Okay, what cooler is it?
intel i5 10400F, asus TUF B560-plus wifi
Yeah it doesn't support your cpu

/motherboard
@fallen escarp return it and get a gammaxx 400 or vetroo v5 or id cooling se 224 xt
alright
can i ask why?
It just doesn't have support for your cpus socket
i used an lga 1366 cooler before with an lga 1200 cpu and it worked just fine
Np
I am looking to add another m.2 to my computer with an adapter but I am not sure witch slot would be best for my comp. I have my 1 m.2 filled so pcie 5 is disabled. Can anyone give me advice to witchadapter and slot to get? I have a asrock x99x killer board with 1 gpu
My board has 5 manual says 5 is disabled when m.2 is active
I would post a pic of board but I do not have permissions for that
@errant spear i think you mean 5 pcie slots?
When they say pcie 5 they mean the 5th pcie slot btw
Yes sorry my computer knowledge is small so I probably interpret alot incorrectly it says this If M.2 PCI Express module is installed, PCIE5 will be disabled.
No problem lol
Yes
Yeah so you're bottom slot will be disabled so any other slot is fine
2 3 or 4 is fine
Put it in pcie slot 3 if possible
Okay tyty I'm about to order the adaptor now
Np
morning pato
morning sippy
morning sprinkle boy
friendly reminder to never buy used cpus
trying to oc this degraded 8700K is beyond pain
Lmao
Awesome thank you so much ❤️ sorry for the late reply
Morning sips
No prob :)
Rip
Hi, new here - I'm putting together a build for my wife, and I found out that the ASrock B550 Pro 4 that I bought needs a BIOS update for the Ryzen 5600x that I purchased for this build. The customer support agent at Newegg who I chatted with offered me an RMA to refund the board, so I guess now I need advice on picking out a suitable replacement board for this rig. Any suggestions?
I understand the 570 boards can do serious overclocking - but really all she wants is to make sure her Photoshop can Liquify, lol... what would be the pros and cons of the 550 vs the 560 boards?
mainly, I want to eliminate the possibility that any board I get would need that pesky BIOS update in order to work
X570 is needed by no one
you mean it's ahead of its time?
550 is AMD, 560 is budget intel
Nah there are very few use cases that actually take advantage of the small difference between b550 and x570
gotcha
A lot of boards will need the bios flahsed, although you should be able to do it without needing the cpu, search for bios flashback or something along those lines in your manual
B560 is intel
can confirm
B550 is usually better than x570 btw
there doesn't seem to be a way to flash the bios on the ASRock I have now
Yeah you will need a board with the flashback feature
cant even compare smh
imagine not having a godlike
godlike way better value than any b550
Imagine not having a Crosshair VIII board
Yep, i would get the b550 msi pro vdh wifi
Well that's not reasonable
thats way to cheap bro
cmonm
imagine not having a 5900x in your closet
How much of a step up from my Crosshair VIII Hero is an MSI Godlike board?
lol
I doubt hardly much
what does the VDH stand for?
I have no clue
Who knows, but that's just the name of the board
I literally couldn’t find anything online about it
i was thinking more it was what display output it had on mobo, but it may be coincidence
"v" i was thinking stood for video
d for dvi
h for hdmi
but that doesnt fully line up since new vdh have dvi and dp
but if you went back and looked at the vd-pro boards, they had dvi but no hdmi, so it probably is just a coincience but thats all i could come up with
I saw someone talking about that and I think it is true but since B550 came out, chipsets changed but the name stuck
yeah
Would a 970 graphic card work well with a Ryzen 7 3700x?
i mean itll work but id def go for something much better
is there a motherboard that has pcie 4 x16 x4, 2 or 3 m2 2280 slots that isnt a threadripper board? tracking 36...20 for pci slots, 8-12 for board, 4 for cpu?
my pc feels so slow lately what could it be
Gonna need more details than that for others to help you my guy
How much storage are you using, how many applications do you have running in the background, what's your idle CPU and RAM usage?
There's multiple things that could cause your PC to be slow.
Also your cpu could be overheating, what frequency is your ram running at etc?
Yeah but idle doesn't tell much, what does it get while gaming/stress test
like 60-65
Do you have 3600 ram or are you actually reading it at 3600?
sometimes close to 70c
That's fine
when i bought it it said 3600 and a turned on xmp
Okay that's fine
@ancient wraith its probably just clutter of programs opening at start you don't know about then
No, more likely programs running in the background you don't know about
Idk what translucent but the wallpaper one if it's live wallpapers will use a bit of your resources
Can you open the apps on start up in settings too, because some things are in one and not the other
ik but i have been using those for years and havent had a problem till now
clear task bar it looks nice
What is your idle CPU usage and stuff
Is there anything here that seems to be using a lot of your CPU or RAM?
@worn wave what should i do
lian li lancool 205m microatx any good?
Solid case
For a 3060ti 650w is enough right
Yeah
Rip
Can anyone check it out (list for a friend)
since 3060ti obv not easy to get what would be a good alternative (gtx970/980?)
It will tide them over decently yeah
Np
Should they look on ebay / fb market for a used one?
Yeah but get them to look for 3060s in that price range too
👍🏻
Anyone know about any high end gaming laptops? I need o e to replace my desktop
I also do content creation and editing
I need a $700 build for a 3080.
You already have the 3080?
I sure hope so
Lol a 3080 worth more than 700
Sure 3080 msrp is 700 so unless they wanted to stare at just an fe 3080 on the desk lol

new build, any suggestions
https://pcpartpicker.com/list please, and what's your budget have you bought anything yet?
Okay I'll put you a list together 1 sec
@wide seal what's the use case?
Gaming editing etc?
Looks to be that
Business system 24/7 video BlueIris
Whats business system
Are you doing modeling? accounting? what kinds of programs will you be running
What kind of business system? So you'll be live streaming video kind of thing?
Okay that it basically?
11900k is a waste for that
you could buy a 300 usd laptop and do photoshop
Scratch the for that part XD
Well a bit more but yeah
I Know, I like to build a strong system for possible future uses
Ok, but by waste I mean 11900k is about equal to a 5800X for almost double the cost
ftp uploads to websites as well
great
Okay I'll put you together an overkill work pc i suppose
haha
That could be done on a potato lol
My phone literally does that, and it's 8 years old
Smh...
My single core laptop from 2008 could do that
Yarite we're trying to tell you that you don't need to spend 2.5k on a computer doing things that need very low computing power
If you want to game on the side when you're not working, that changes things a bit
*While you're working
@wide seal https://pcpartpicker.com/list/77FvMv
That will allow you to add in a graphics card later if you would like too
For gaming or higher end video editing
If I'm going to take the time to build, I want to build a good system, I don't care about the cost.
Yeah i built you a good system lol
I can step it up to help with multi tasking mb but i doubt you'll notice the diff 1 sec
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ybzQ4d @wide seal this will be about equal, and allow you to multi task plenty
Going 11th gen for the igpu btw before someone mentions it
@wide seal do you want wifi actually?
A good system can be bought for 1k
Is there any compatibility issues with my list?
Ik fal but just Incase they wanted 8 cores with the hd750
Nope
Yeah someone had to say it though lol
Thanks
Hello wveeyone
Have a question that's not build related persay, but it is about purchasing a new system
Go ahead, we like questions
I'm in the market for a laptop for content creation but there are so many different manufacturers not sure who to go with. I'm looking for something Intel/nvidia based.
budget?
Some OEMs I've looked at are: ASUS ROG, MSI, GIGABYTE, and Alieneare. Which manufacturer do you huys suggest?
Around 2,000
I've had good experience with asus but i haven't bought from others so i can't help you much
Brand isn't as much of an issue these days. It's more what you can get that's good specs in your budget.
Well, I'm looking for minimum i7, nvidia RTX graphics and 16-32 GB RAM. all OEMs offer the spec I'm looking for but their priced are all over the place
The only major, unchangeable difference between each laptop with similar specs is going to be power limit and cooling solution.
If you can find out how many Watts the power brick is rated for you can get an idea of how the power limits are set.
Cooling is a bit trickier. Unless there's a review of that exact model it's hard to tell how good/bad it is
Most of the units I've priced power bricks range from 230-270 watts. Save one that had dual 220 watt power bricks
Dual 220? Interesting. Which one was that?
Can't remember exactly I've looked at so many I think it was an ASUS unit. Way out of budget too.
@bright timber looks like a good part list, in my opinion. My only suggestion is, u probably don't need that high-end of a mobo
The heck, z490 boards are expensive
Scratch that, get a ryzen cpu, 3800x or something. With an x470 or x570 board
Yes, it's called the overclock tax and it's imposed by Intel
I've heard rumors that Intel decided they might change that next gen because AMD proved they were lying about why by allowing overclocking on almost every board
Neat?
They already kinda stepped back on that policy by allowing memory OC on B560 and H570 boards
Idk much about overclocking :/ but ik it can get competitive. Both on the company's side, and the consumers
Well the part that really sucked about Intel before that was you couldn't even run your memory at the speed that it was advertised at
by the way, don't need x470 or x570 to oc, can oc fine on b450 or b550 depending on the board, and 3800x kinda sucks
I'd do a good X470 or B550 personally
plenty of good b550 boards with good vrms at reasonable prices
Lol I always hear that, get b550
I agree
Idk about the 3800x, I just thought it was comparable in performance to the 10500k
Lol, no, just, no
10500k.....?
Same
even on a b560 board without oc capabilities
And 3800x will easily lose to 5600x in gaming
3000 was where AMD started to hit a level playing field, then 5000 blew us all away
Yep!
IPC went up, what , 20%?
Good time and bad time to upgrade
Prob something like 15% for both generations
Something around there yeah, which is still crazy for a single gen difference
No problem :)
Anyone know of 3 RGB fans I can get off Amazon for a little under 50 bucks
Thank you
That's argb not RGB but ig itll work
What’s the difference I’m not good on that
Connectors
Arctic also has rgb p12 fans
3 pin instead of 4
Yeah
Thank you
Ones 12v ones 5v
argb is basically superior in every possible way as long as you have the headers to support it
ofc 50 LEDs is better than 2 :P
lower power consumption, better color accuracy (in my experience), per-led control
most modern boards that are above $80 have at least 1 argb header
My X470 only has 2x 4 pin headers
yea, need to pay attention to check
Here's a pic to kinda show it better
ehh i guess current gen would have been a better word than modern
b550/x570/b560/z590
These are my cables can they take ARGB fans
PSU does not matter, what motherboard do you have?
B450 Tomahawk Max
I do not believe it has A-RGB headers

rsair proprietary
