hello, I am looking for advice on a gaming laptop. I would like at least 32 gig of ram and a dedicated video card. My current one has a Intel on board and it works okay but some of my newer games if I alt tab it crashes my game so I don't want the dual video card system in the new laptop. My budget is about $2,000. I am wanting something that I could use for a couple of years minimum. I can give you the specs of my current system if that would be useful. Also, I do want something that can run VR I have an occulus quest 2 and want to be able to run vr games from the laptop on the quest.

this is what the other guy said to me about it

it's "rated" for 95 watts, but under load it can easily take up to 140 watts, the non-unlocked version draws 123w for up to 20 seconds and then is bottlenecked by the power usage to 95w for like a minute
even tho the chip is easily capable of drawing 140w for extra performance
200w when OC'd by +0.2ghz, but that's not relevant since heat gets out of control without a custom cooling loop :sfurtease:
so what happens is that a 9900 non-k can't even maintain it's turbo clock speed for longer than 20 seconds
im very sure it is similar on the 10900f
well, ram speed can give a benefit, just go with 2 sticks if you can :sfurtease:
4 sticks wont kill ya but put more load on the memory controller and may make you have to lower ram clocks to get it stable
overall the issue with the 10900f will be the clocks not the capacity

Yesterday I assembled all the parts. I bios flashed the x570 board already prior to installing all the components. I started the system and checked the bios it confirmed that it’s already updated and detected the 5950x processor i have. It didn’t last for a minute and it shutdown on its own. I tried to start the system again but it no longer boots. I reseated my RAM and tried to put only 2 sticks in it but it doesn’t boot as well. No led no indicators my motherboard isn’t lighting up as well.

When you try and start it, you should get a DRAM error LED in this config

I don't think so, do the recommended tests. Since it booted once to the BIOS screen and you could do things, I doubt the BIOS is bad

With no lights at all, it seems like a power issue but since you tested the PSU in another system, it would appear the motherboard is bad
