btw
whichever looks better in your opinion
but b550-f and b550-e looks the same
MP86992-C787
Because most of the features that are different are inside the pcb/back ports
we've heard of the SiC654/651 that's on aorus elite ax and pg velocita but
if you want to save a few dollars buy the b550f
long name
i mean @little osprey @stoic island do you think that the B550-E would be useful to me?
I never considered it better than b550-f for builds from the start xD
out of curiosity, lemme look at companies that makes fets
never would recommend it to anybody unless they want overclocking, most people who want overclocking know what they need at that point
ofc
i would overclock but if its something useful but idk how to even overclock thats the thing so idk what to overclock exactly
It's just
telling stuff to run faster, whether or not the parts were built to run faster
is that what people do with CPU's?
there's an explanation pinned in #overclocking , but kinda yea
well, less explanation, but more starter guide
same thing
:P
overclocking is scary
yoooo
i need help folks
If i download windows to my usb for my new build from my laptop
will it get rid of the windows on my laptop?
no?
thank you but for me like, im a person building this pc for the first time, so is there anything to overclock other than that PBO?
why would it
idk just curious
youll be just fine
Yes
it just creates a tool to install it, not take windows away or sum like that
you'll need much more than 8gb to do that
@warm swift PBO is the safer auto-oc
most of 'actual' OCing is manually editing settings in bios
It's not like the chip is slow 100% stock
PBO is always an option once you have the system built
is there a possibility that PBO is leaving some performance on the table versus manual OC
Not unless you're benching for hwbot or something
and PBO is cpu only correct?
yes
alright well, when i build that pc, can you help me out a bit with what i should overclock and what i should not
Well. If you just want it to work, overclocking gives you nothing but trouble for troubleshooting imo, XMP is the only "overclocking" I would suggest everyone to do. PBO is a bit weird, I haven't looked far enough into it
is there any auto oc for gpu's?
eh, MSI Afterburner has an auto-OC
Modern nvidia cards already boost based on temps/power limit
i dont really want to overclock, but like i want to do something that would be safe or it would help out my pc a bit
Yea, boosting is technically automatically OCing
So better temps = better performance
@warm swift Here's the thing, I'll give you a number to think about, at best, maybe 3% benefit from OCing with a good PC.
Yep, it'll auto-oc itself down to -40c
thats pretty low
dang
3% sounds a bit low, but I'd say pbo vs stock is still single digit gains most of the time
so your saying im really fine with just not overclocking anything yeah? @stoic island
Yes
@celest horizon eh, I consider pbo just as good boosting (boosting under good cooling), so I don't consider it to be that much of a help, I also haven't really looked into pbo
but you really really can get away with not overclocking, other than enabling XMP, XMP is good
Is this a vibe??
Paired with a ryzen 5 3400g and a 3060.
@stoic island if i get a 2x16 ram, which is 32gb, and one day i also got 32 gb and put them, will they still be 32gb or 62gb?
This ones a better option?
Crucial are some of the best when it comes to performance
Wha
Sayless thank you guys.
less
Get 2 sticks of ram that add up to 16gb better for upgrading later
Wouldn’t one want 2 sticks that add up to 16 gb
I think he meant 16
that would be twice as expensive
Or just don’t get 4 sticks
32gb is overkill
For now
Right
not really
I’m just speaking in an upgrade ability sense
but not necessary
I mean 16 is becoming the minimum now though
2 ranks/channel will give a performance boost at the same clocks/timings
2x16 is a good option if you have the budget
What he said^
forks brain =
Honestly
my brain =
But 2 sticks of ram will cost about the same as those 4 sticks
what 4 sticks?
What 4 sticks?
the dominator stuff?
that was just a marketing pic
not representative of the whole product
Dominator platinum is the definition of rgb tax
^
That said, buy what you like
if you want to OC ever, I generally dont recommend Corsair anything (although we did just have this chat in #overclocking )
generally
also tfw
Damn those prices
tfw rgb cheaper
never
Honestly I'm so new to the PC world that I just went for some good old gskill
nothing wrong there
G.Skill still good
I have a G.Skill kit
Looks like ddr3 ballistix tho
Wait
Why did discord
What
Why did it quote that
kek
334$ for 2x16
@warm swift my answer is 2x16+2x16=64gb
i doubt im gonna find 2x32 bdie for anything even in my budget lol
That is some beautiful ram
Well we can't all have the best now can we
im sorry
0 for 2x32gb smh
ughhhhhhhhhh
fake?
14-18-18-38
Doesn't exist
It would have to be rdimm/fbdimm etc, and that's just not going to be a thing
figured
depends on the fan
No
RGB or no RGB?
RGB
no RGB ML120s(preferably ML140s) are great
Yeah corsair RGB fans are beyond overpriced
only reason to have them is if you want everything in one software
I wish that were the case
Its the one component that isn't aura compatible
I guess I screwed up
also @stoic island
Will listen later
If you had to choose between a 3900x now or 5900x when there is stock while also fighting for a 30 series card would you choose 3900x or 5900x?
5900x
Why?
It’s not all that much better
Might take a few tries
It is tho
i got my 5900x first try
Like what 10-12%?
15-20%
Do they have certain days that they restock on?
Damn
Last restock was this thursday so watch tuesday/thursday at 9 am
I won’t have the money this week
9am eat or pst
pst
Est autocorrect
Guys what’s the difference between windows 10 and windows 10 OEM
Ok
I think oem is just a digital windows key
@little osprey last was friday
iirc oem can't move to different pc
Guys what’s the difference between windows 10 and windows 10 OEM
Yea retail can bind to acc to be transfered, I think oem can't
Oem stands for original equipment manufacturer
i was up for like 30 hours when i bought my 5900x
thought it was thursday lol
Lol
Last question then, which will have better game performance between the 3900x and 5900x
5900x
nah dude a core 2 duo will work better for gaming
hello, can anoyone advise on parts for building a GPu miner?
any links would be appreciated
Yes
550 or 708?
550
can someone make my cousin a for 600-670 that can run COD at 144fps on comp settings
Good luck getting that with the current GPU market , it is what it is
not in this market. GPu alone for that is $200-300
6700XT launches in a couple days, we'll see what that does for the market
Nothin probably
Even still it's a 480$ gpu from amd and gonna be more from board partners and leaks say their only sending a few thousand to the whole of the eu
hi
I wish silicon production was just push button make silicon push button assemble board push button ship gpu
By the way @fossil cedar Asrock helped me solve my RGB problem thx
What would be a good 900-1000 watt psu? The enermax revolution d.f only goes up to 850 from what I can see
The cheaper seasonics don’t have all the connections that enermax does
I want some over head room for a 5900x 3080 build
Singh I will be running a second gpu along with ti
What’s this mean
It
??
Me too but i mean it's a hole semiconductor shortage they are prioritising cars atm, even general motors and tesla had to stop production for a few days
What are you looking for
Nice
Look at the linus tech tips forum psu tier list
Check out Corsair and evga
Which board was it exactly again? You need drivers
@brittle tinsel RMi HXi hx g2 p2 t2 dark power pro 12 straight power 11
If there's still stuff not showing up right after installing those drivers, we'll go from there
Uh
How I install it
@brittle tinsel just look at em one by one
@potent portal
Download, extract, run the install.exe or setup.exe
The nvidia one you can just run
If you can't download it directly on the computer, you can download on another one and copy it to USB yes
Ethernet controller
Or download on the phone (if it's an android) and copy from internal storage
Well tbf they could probs just email to themselves on iphone
Not files that size they couldn't
The lan driver yeah
Aren't the drivers like less than 10mb cuz they ziped files?
nothing lol
amd production is ass rn
Audio driver is 68MB zipped, then there's the 300MB+ nvidia driver
LAN driver is 680KB though
Hol up
Oof well lan driver would be fine then just download the other drivers straight to pc
Didn't realise audio driver is that big and didn't realise you meant graphics drivers tho
If you want to clear all the "unknown device" flags you def need GPU driver
I’m having trouble with the Ethernet
I plugged it in but it’s not letting me connect to internet
I just thought you meant the lan drivers download on phone that's why lol :)
Right, you need the Intel LAN driver, that's the ethernet driver
thag didn’t come with the mobo or case?
I also have a disc that came w mobo
That do anything?
Says drivers on it
;-;
Yeah that would have the driver at least to get you going if it works
But you'll still want to update it
Give the cd a try, worst case it doesn't work and you copy the LAN driver to a USB or your phone
Download it on your phone and transfer it by USB?
Also would mean you'd have to have an actual cd drive lol
How I copy the LAN driverV
You have an android?
If so make sure when it's plugged into pc that it's on act as usb device mod, or similar
I don’t have android
Do you have another computer (or anything else really) that can connect to the internet?
Rip
Yeah I do
Download the driver on that, then copy the driver to the USB, then you can copy it to the new PC
You would need to reformat that usb in disk manager
@potent portal do u have the Ethernet driver link
To download
Or just a link to download all the rivers
Drivers
I need
Ok
Also @potent portal once I put the usb into my pc build what do I do?
It will automatically read the Ethernet drivers!
?*
Copy the file to your desktop, extract it, and run the setup.exe
The three driver packages should be all you need, LAN, audio, GPU
Ok
yeah
for a customer build
gonna be using the integrated graphics
music production rig no gpu needed
That'll work nicely then
Reminds me of that setup Naed showed a while back
Wonder if all audio production just have a weak asf gpu
guy has a power supply already
I'd call the ML360 overkill but not a bad price
in my customization form he put 10/10 for caring about noise
so i figured 360mm aio was the way to go
makes sense for music production to want as little noise as possible
That seems fair then, bigger rad = cooler = less rpm needed
yeah
Definitely tune that fan curve though, ML fans aren't the quietest
Was adata just the cheapest ram or was there a reason for cl18?
budget constraint
Fair
3600c16 32gb is like $50 more than 3600c18
and i really doubt he is going to notice the difference
Oof
not even gaming
sad
you'd need an fps counter to notice the difference in gaming too tbh
Would you not just have gone with 3200 cl16?
it's dual rank so it's better perf than 3600c16 single rank
True
That's fair, do you have a pc building business or something?
yeah
who doesn't have afterburner + rtss OSD on with frametime chart, 1% lows, 0.1% lows on at all times?
nothing fancy or super official just a sole proprietorship
Ohh cool i was thinking of doing that but then was like ehh idk like do you just run off Facebook/friends etc?
Or do you do it full time?
I just use ingame fps tbh
facebook marketplace and paid advertising
it's definitely not a full time thing though
also a uni student and have a job on top of this
Hmm might try taking it up then
i stopped recently because the gpu shortage is making it difficult/annoying to give quotes
but this build is for a former customer who contacted me again
Also a uni student and have an intensive couse
That's fair, i meant when the market stabilises
It is just in general fun building imo
out of curiosity, how do you do payments? @earnest olive
venmo/zelle
ah
Btw just upgraded from stock 3600 wraith cooler also now an id cooling fanboy xd
25% deposit required before ordering parts
I'm only Keychron fanboy now
Zelle? I've heard of venmo but similar to paypal im guessing?
Yes Venmo is kinda personal payment method
Very similar
I phrases that bad lol was asking if zelle was similar to paypal or more like venmo?
it's a service integrated into some banks that basically lets you do instant bank transfers using phone numbers instead of routing numbers
via the bank's mobile app
Ohh cool
Hey so I am new to the PC life and discord but I wanted to see if y’all could help with upgrades for the build. My brother already streams and games on it, but just plays Minecraft and rocket league, but when he tries to stream COD war zone or GTA V it doesn’t work well. He can play it on its own, but just can’t stream at the same time
That’s the build pics!
Wondering what you all think would be next for upgrades to help us out
is that a single stick of ram?
add another stick of ram
set stream settings to use NVENC
and you're good
that cpu cooler is insufficient for the i7-10700 with removed power limits
but if running at stock settings it should be okay
just not hitting maximum performance
it has similar tdp rating to the stock cooler
single stick of ram is always bad regardless of capacity
I meann yeah you might as well use stock cooler intead of buying that cooler
dual channel is super important
Yeah another stick or ram would be super helpful
Dope, I appreciate y’all, still learning the ins and out
ram and cooler aside the rest of the build is solid and definitely good enough to stream those games
Should I upgrade the cooler or just go back to the stock?
i'll get you a link in a sec
If you already have that another stick of ram to make it dual channel and a better cooler
Imo you should upgrade but if you already have that cooler the stock would be bit of downgrade
case supports up to 172mm air cooler
Well, I would be open to suggestions for an upgraded cooler, just to keep in mind and invest in!
Not sure if there is a way to go private with messages but definitely could use some advice. Currently have a full cart of newegg but was wondering if someone could tell me whether I am going cheap or too expensive in areas.
Send in a screenshot
don't get a z-motherboard if you're not getting an unlocked cpu
They already have it
that board with the 10700 is completely fine for ram overclocking
presumably purchased before b560 came out
not like better power delivery is a bad thing though
I appreciate you man!
I think I am start with those purchases from the links you sent me and set the settings to use the NVENC
@pure iron just go intel
The question of price is coming up because I have not selected a graphics card yet
paying $388 for a ryzen 7 3800x is nonsense
when the i7-10700K is $230 at microcenter
and is a better cpu
no
corsair vengeance ram is not great
you can get an i9-10850K for quite a lot cheaper than that 3800X
no
and the 10850K will beat that 3800X in both gaming and multicore
hell yeah
willingly paying more money for less performance

keep buying the $200 ryzen 5 3600 over the $110 i5-10400f
u think
10850k is way better then 3800x especially with a 150$ diff
u thik what u want to
b560 chipset bringing ram overclocking to $80 boards
and no, I'm not an intel fanboy... just using critical thinking
No offense but you not know what you on another, intel is just better value arm
now go away amd fanboy nobody cares about your propaganda here

@pure iron do you happen to live near any microcenter locations?
The ram looks a tad pricy btw, you should just get a 10850k and I've never heard of that brand of cooler and pc part picker is generally a good idea to use as you see the best prices frkm multiple stores
not a fan of the crucial p2 you can get substantially better ssds for $5-10 more
Very new to building a pc so honestly any tips are welcome
My budget is around $1200 but if that can be beat, that would also be great
What are you doing graphics card wise?
That's the main reason I am here. Had a few different ones in mind but they were all taking me way over budeget.
So I was wondering what a reasonable price is. Is a graphics card usually $600+
No usually only top of the line ones
Your best bet for a gpu atm would acc be a prebuilt sadly
My past two laptops have ran i7 quad cores so my lack of knowledge tells me going down to an i5 wouldn't be the right move.
i5s are hyper threaded hexcores now
so...
i don't think you will see a downgrade lol
ok good to know lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3XbGMv would suggest this if you would rather buy a used gpu than play the waiting game
if you are not in a rush then try to buy an RTX 3060Ti off of newegg shuffle
might take a few months
you can choose i5-10400 instead of i5-10400f and use integrated graphics while waiting for graphics card
There generations old, they increase each year and laptops i7s are roughly going to equal i5 desktops because laptops have to deal with batterys and thermals being really small
my laptop currently has an i7-7700hq that gets left in the dust by an i5-10400
with the i5-10400 being roughly twice as fast
Enermax cooler over se 224?
TBH none of the flashy lights are relevant
it is a fine cooler at a fine price I used a white one in my gf's build recently
I prefer function
well it's not like you are sacrificing anything for the light it's a good cooler
sacrificing like 10 bucks maybe
So that list basically includes everything but the graphics card?
yeah you'll either have to buy a used gpu from somewhere like r/hardwareswap or play the waiting game for a new one with stock alerts or newegg shuffle
gpu shortage is really bad right now
If you want a pc you can game on now tho https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali491/p/N82E16883360086?item=N82E16883360086
If you don't expect to do 1440p or 4k or play triple A high detail that would do fine
decent price for the current market but I've heard some questionable things about ABS
Fair, actually i think there's a really decent deal from dell atm hold on
@pure iron if you want to be able to game now https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/dell-g5-gaming-desktop/spd/g-series-5000-desktop/gd5090g540s?configurationid=0d170c7c-2ec2-42b7-af20-a5889ec30332 or https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/dell-g5-gaming-desktop/spd/g-series-5000-desktop/gd5090g530s?configurationid=5270d9fd-4d50-487c-8466-d9c91e725428
The first one is a 1300 but at the top of the page for the next few days there's a 17% off code
Excuse me if this sounds ignorant but I've always had this weird thing against Dells. I suppose I could be wrong for that.
Some people have that but that's a good deal
they are the king of proprietary crap that you can't upgrade
honestly this laptop i got is really insane value
But atm its decent, there's an i5 model for cheaper that you could actually trade for 2060 or 2070 i believe
Just curious what’s a better mobo than dark hero
i'm excited for it to arrive
$1700 for an i7-10750h, 130w rtx 3070, 2x8gb 3200mhz ram, 512gb gen3 nvme ssd, 144hz ips screen
And anyone know the price of the 11gen inter coming out
really good value for a laptop
130w rtx 3070 mobile slightly edges out desktop 3060ti
would have liked a ryzen mobile cpu but wasn't available to ship until april
i'd rather buy this laptop than one of those prebuilts
I plug the flash into the bios and started it but it has been like 30 minutes
Plugged
Good luck
Dark hero? Who makes it?
Crosshair
Asus crosshair gotcha
Idk
^
What cpu you getting
Yeah but not best value
Like 5900x or 5950x can’t find them sadly
Tbh their all pretty much same
What’s tbh
There's not very much diff
To be honest
How is 11 gen going to cost
To be honest
Is tbh
Very wrong
How is 11 gen going to cost
With a high tier cpu I'd stay away from msi x570s
Should I wait for 11 gen
Their vrm temps can be yikes
Yah screw msi
Idk ask intel but their not gonna be worth most likely
Nah just their x570s
Estimated price
Well true but asus crosshair is good
Idk roughly last gen?
Who has best vrm temps
Also should I get an aio
Check this
K
But their i9 is a 2 core down grade from 10th gen so idk
Depends on cpu
Prolly an upgrade in single core perf
Depends on what mobo but just look at a review or 2 if you unsure
Sp maybe better gaming
Bro I don’t understand that @desert gulch
Check thag
Yeah still can't believe their chopping 2 cores off i9
That tells you vrm temps
I don’t understand I am new
Ok
So
Sorry I'm blind it's late and I'm in bed
It depends
Cores are like lanes on a highway
K
And speed of those cores is like the speed limit
K
So more cores allows more info to travel
Yah
In applications where all cores are used
Like editing and rendering
But core speed also matters
Prolly gonna be 11900k
What matter when choosing a gaming cpu
Amd best gaming cpu is 5900x
Wait it is
5950x is for workstation more
Higher single core speed
Depends what games and depends on if i9 11th gen is good but atm 5900x
It depends, what budget, we don't know what 11th gen is gonna be like
It's more of a case by case scenario on what your budget is etc for what we would recommend
I think bout a month
@desert gulch which one has highest single core speed
Ok
But should I stick with amd
Or intel
Depends on your budget
i9 9900k best processing
No
No
Yes
11900k will most likely be best gaming cpu
Here we go
Actually no
@desert gulch so what should I go with
All youtubers use 9900
CAUSE 11 gen hasn’t come out yet
That's cause its a bit old
Intel
You're not gonna notice a huge diff most likely but I'd go 5900x
Ignore the Roblox guy he's being dumb
Lol
Trolls are wonderful
Tf??
Huh
@desert gulch help
With what
What are you doing?
For just gaming?
And other stuff
He wants to know what cpu you would recommend for 3k build
Like what
Umm editing
I said 3900x cuz 12 cores
5900X if you can get one
Streaming
5900x then
5900x*
What about just for gaming
idk wait for 11900k stuff to come out
With aio
and see
Kkkkk
10850k most likely just for gaming if you need it rn
Last question. What is a good gpu in the $400-500 range?
Well noone is just going to game but I'd still recommend 12 core 5900x because smooth
Should I get an aio
It's for looks
3060ti
if you can find one
Nothing atm really, try get a 6700xt on launch which is 18th march
Performance wise an aio is the same as a tower cooler
If you're getting i9/Ryzen 9 yes
ehh
Eh not really
If you are not OCing you don't need one really.
Air and water cooling is the same
dark rock pro 4
D15 or dark rock pro 4 are basically aio in tower form
If you are OCing you could get an AIO, or if you just want to get one for the looks.
They doing 3k build tho and seems like just want top perf but yeah 10850k is insanely good value for like 300 ish atm
Personally I would recommend a good tower cooler.
True, true
Towers have less failure points
And much less disastrous failures
If your aio pump decides to die or your tubes leak rip
It would run cooler tho
mhmm
Nope
if a d15 messes up all you need is a new fan
There's been actual testing done
since fan is most likely to die first
Sometimes air cooling does better than aio
Fair
But otherwise equivalent, unless it's a low profile air cooler or something
go try to find a 90 dollar aio that can beat a dark rock pro 4
Yeah, that's gonna be hard
Nice
How does the EK-AIO Basic 240 compare to a Dark Rock Pro 4
id guess pro 4 wins
mhm
lililabs has the best prices with the best vps
EK-AIO Basic 240 and Dark Rock Pro 4 are about the same
At least the RGB version
Afaik the performance should be the same
Basic is just without RGB so it should be about the same as the RGB one
In some cases it's actually better
yo guys, my pc isnt putting out audio anymore, not from headphones or speakers?
it just randomly stopped
okay, now i just have no sound in game
try restarting pc
already did -_-
oh lol
oof
hi
with what
ok
i cant decide your budget for you
what do you want to do with the pc?
no
im just not in your finanical situation so idk what your budget would be
some ppl set aside 3k for a pc, others sub 500
bruh
do you need help or are you just gonna troll
bruh
bruh so you just came to troll?
i dont want too
nor need to
xD
im not a mod, so i dont carry their duties
cool
hi mr1
good
couldnt agree more lol
@desert gulch know anything about next gen Intel prices?
nor have I lmao
lmao
i know 10th gen stuff decent
since thats whats most ppl would buy from intel
yes
Any strategies on how to stag a 6700-xt?
i'm starting pc building and could use some tips
what kind of tips are ya lookin for?
have basics in terms of looking but not anything really purchased
hmm
ig one is
dont torque stuff down crazy
little past handtight is fine for pc stuff
what are the must have components for pc?
cpu, cpu cooler?, motherboard, mem (ssd), psu
what else is necessary
derp. have both
well looking at both
Reason: Bad word usage
Windows automatic repair loop
Does anyone know how to fix it, I installed a new gpu and it’s stuck in the loop
Dell precision 7910 upgraded from a rx 580 to a 2080ti
yeah if you have a budget in mind we could try to make you a list
newegg shuffle or best buy are the best bets right now
i have not spoken in here in maybe like a month
Go into safe mode, run DDU to clean out old drivers, then boot into normal mode windows and install new drivers. I'll grab a link once sec.
Here you can Download Display Driver Uninstaller, this Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, with...
When you change brands on your gpu, the old drivers can interfere with the installation of new ones
thanks m8
i got it to run off of the default windows drivers... then installed geforcce experience
gonna ddu the amd drivers later
Given the fact that there are no good gpu's available, does anyone have any preferred brands for pre built pc's?
me personally nzxt bld. people have been recommending BuildRedux a lot here in the server as well
Thanks, nzxt must be good cause they are sold out lol
NZXT tends to be cheaper because they use open box parts more. Build Redux is good because they don't over-charge for the build fees, but they've only got stuff starting at $1000 right now in stock.
You think I can get by with the rtx 1660 or definitely worth the jump to rtx 3060?
Was planning on trying to get the 6700-xt after some advice although I'm sure that won't happen. lol
It's worth it for a 3060ti IMO but a 1660 will still do 1080p easily
Obviously everyone is looking to upgrade to 4k but I have yet to see the difference that well
I'm still pretty happy on 1080p but I might go to 1440p soon
me still at 1080p
Unfortunately, unless the money is flowing most people will be on 1080 for a while
Well yeah, there's nothing wrong with 1080 specifically. A lot of people can't even tell any difference between that and higher resolutions, especially at a distance.
most are gonna be at 1080p even if they had the money since 4k doesnt provide that much and also hinders performance even with the lineup of cards we have now

Run this, it'll automatically install the Intel drivers you might need
Ok I’ll do it in the morning, or afternoon
Is it evga or someone else that allows you to join “a waitlist” then send you an email with limited time to buy the gpu?
This a decent gpu?

It’s not a 3080 but msrp is way out the window
Yeah, that should be able to do 1440p pretty well and the 3060ti don't have the heat problems that 3070 cards do
I’m a 1080p gamer so I should be fine, what about my buddy however? He is a hard head and wants a 1440p card to run high high FPS (while streaming too) I’ve told him that 1440p 140-200 is all but he wants to push that up higher
Does the 3080 have heat probs? He is willing to spend more because he wants a high FPS 1440p ultra which is insane imo
If you want to do high resolution at high fps while streaming (using nvenc I assume) you definitely want a 3080.
They don't have heat problems either. The main issue is half these manufacturers don't put heat pads on their 3070 cards.
Sorry for the ping, would you happen to know about how often 3060ti pops into evga? Any set date I need to dedicate my time to or just all the time?
No idea, but I've heard of people being in that queue for 3 months or more
Damnit
This has been hell on wheels especially after my pc died, I have no way to work and stock is fighting me off
wait the 3070 has heating issues?
6700xt drops in a couple days, try to get one of those. They're roughly a 3060ti in performance
Apparently, I was aiming for one but this is the first time I’ve heard about it
I need the encoder benefit of nvidia without the pain in the ass of amd graphics drivers
Been there done that
They sick
Suck
Yes, some of the manufacturers like gigabyte didn't put any thermal pads on the vram or vrm
AMD drivers have gotten a lot better
You haven't had any issues because there's no temp sensor on the vram, you can't see how bad it is, assuming it's one of the bad ones
sips has the vision card and i believe when he did testing it was at like 110c until he replaced the pads and they dropped in temps drastically
No several others have put none or too few pads on, I'll check if asus is bad
Was it the asus tuf model? Looking at a teardown and the pads seem ok
yes it is
You should be fine then
good you had me a little worried there
The face when you get “shipment label printed” status for 3 days like damn fedex pick up my package already. Anyone else have this issue recently?
Shipping services are just bogged down right now. If I order something with 2 day delivery, I get it in 5-6
or when you order something and theres an estimated date and a week goes by after said date and then you contact them and they find out it never made it to you because it got lost within transit somewhere along the way and they never updated you on it. relatable
i mean wut

USPS has a service where if there's a significant delay they can research why and maybe push it along
The fedex dude in my area is very nice and respectful
Although we in the south everyone has respect around here
Really
Hm I don’t know then, we tip our hats to each other and everything very nice place
The only time I’ve had issues is with a 3rd party company they left 4 brand new monitors out in the rain
Parcel service of some sort
Originally me and my brothers each bought 1 monitor (there was a major flash sale limit of 1 per customer and sorts) then becaus the got left in the rain the company told us to keep em and sent out new ones, turns out they worked, although the bags they were in was filled with water, all we did was let em dry for a week before plugging them in
The bag the screen comes in was filled with water I’m legit telling you these monitors were submerged for 2 days
Before we found em
Under our porch
I should probably open em up and check the pcb for water damage
Or whatever monitors have
I used to drive for Amazon, and our bags that the packages get sorted into are always falling apart. If they're newer and don't have tears in them, they're pretty water resistant when zipped up. Problem is, 80% of them are torn. I've gotten bags that sat in the rain for an hour before my shift started, and the ones on the top were halfway filled with water.
Real talk, anyone have strategies to getting the 6700-xt or is it not even worth trying?
It's about a 3060ti but without nvenc or dlss. Worth getting if you don't stream or are using a capture card. Basically you're just going to have to pick a website and refresh until it says "in stock"
This company didn’t use external bags at all, i mean yeah the product was boxed and bagged for shipping but all they did was set it under the porch in the dirt, in a thunder storm and also forged our name that we signed for it (nobody was home that day)
Gah I hate when they do crap like that. Once they left a package with my neighbor. I've never met this neighbor and didn't know who even signed for it.
I had to ask the front office whose name it was
Yeah, get this though, when we called and were like this package is full of water wtf they were like that’s on you, we have here that you signed for it, we told em to spell the name since we have a weird spelled name and the name signed wasn’t even our proper name lol
I do have to give it to office dopot, not only did they give replacements but sent fedex next day shipping
Even though that's 100% not their fault, they still fixed the problem. Good move on their part.
@stoic island im about to buy them parts in like 4 hours
you told me what from the list i should look out for?
SSD and PSU?
Just psu for pricing
yeah but you would recommend a NVMe over a SATA right?
You don't really do anything that would benefit much from it but, if you really want to..?
i mean what would the NVMe help with that is better than a SATA?
It's a "better on paper, indistinguishable in reality" thing
honestly like ill see if they have that NVMe one, he told me that he doesnt but im going to make sure before buying
Higher seq helps with when you're transferring like 50gb around
Which isn't normal
:p
yeahh true
but in games, they are both the same right?
probably like a 1 second or 2 second difference
right?
Divide that by a hundred and you'll be around where the answer lies
yeah, i mean im watching some of them Sata vs Nvme videos and they seem to have like a very small difference
it depends on the game
but from what im seeing its a 0.5, 1, 2 second difference
Tom's hardware testing:
Ignore optane, that's just completely different, sx8200 pro has schrodinger's nand now, ignore that too, and MX500 is a SATA drive
@warm swift ofc games like Rust you might have a few seconds difference, but usually, something 0.1 second for usual game loading
i guess id be happy with any tbh, both are fast, definitely going to be a big difference because im currently using a harddrive rn so its pretty slow
oh yeah i can tell, cant really believe ill have a fast pc, been my dream lol
:)
btw i dont know if i asked you this question i forgot, but do you think that the SP120 fans are alright?
like do you think they are way worse than LL120 or QL120's?
I kind of ignore rgb fans
i understand but im getting a lian li case so you know i want the stuff in my pc to look good, can i have pc and without any rgb in it and still make it look good? yes, but i prefer the look of RGB
rgb never comes on top in terms of performance, and I pay attention to the top end in performance
it's not bad, but it's not the best
:P
yes ofcourse
you are spitting some facts
but i guess i cant really have the best best you know?
heh
but like do you know the difference between an SP120 and LL120 other than the RGB?
maybe they're not maglev, I don't know
alright then, well thank you so much, i will buy them parts in like 2 hours or something so cant wait
:)
Ek is getting on my last nerve
Hey I have a new psu what at do I mount it like the fan
Does it go up or down
cause my other psu didn’t have an fab
Fan
Fan down unless you're putting pc on carpet
K
Reason: Bad word usage
really???
Any opinions on pre-builts? Im kinda leaning towards the idea of something showing up and me not having to mess with anything - just plug it in and press the power button.
Best way to get a gpu atm tbh too, nothing wrong with a good prebuilt, there's just some that are overpriced, they just usually aren't easy to upgrade because of some propriety products if it's from an oem
im looking at 2500 for a r9 5900x, gigabyte x470 mobo, 6800xt, 16gb 3200mhz ram, and suitable psu, case, cooler, etc.. sound decent?
ofc....all gpus are on backorder
unless you win shuffle
not really
2.5k is a lot for that
oh did you mean in a prebuilt or a regular build?
prebuilt
Good morning everyone. Totally new when it comes to computers. I use my work issued one for most things. It is not good enough to run diablo 2 resurrected. It’s going to be the main game I play. Would it be better to build a pc or get a gaming laptop. Trying to spend $1000 or less if possible.
especially considering prebuilts often cheap out on core components
i mean- if i could click faster tha a bot and even get anything - gpu or cpu, itd be a different conversation
if you value portability, get a laptop. otherwise, get a pc
for $1000 you could go with either one (for diablo) and not be disappointed, iirc diablo isn't a super intense game
don't overspend because of the current situation
