If you have more paste then you can find out if you used too little by taking off the block and seeing how far the paste spread

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about idle temps a whole lot. Load temps are what really matters. 35-38C seems perfectly resonable to me

Prebuilts will always have people that had a problem, they're usually a minority unless it's a scummy company, which ABS is not.
Put up a link and we'll tell you if it's a good enough deal to snag one.

Looks like an ok enough deal to me. 10400f is great value, 1660 super will do pretty well in 1080p and possibly 1440p

Putting those parts into a custom build would probably be around $700 on a good month, and right now is definitely not. $900 seems reasonable all things considered.

There's a pretty low chance of defective parts. More likely problems are related to shipping damage or things coming loose in transit. We'll be right here to help troubleshoot if it comes to that.
