What could cause this to happen on my laptop?
It randomly goes into this boot loop (?) after closing and reopening the lid. Nothing gets it out of the loop besides disconnecting both batteries.
I have a ThinkPad x240 from like 2014. It runs Pop OS great when it's not busy doing whatever that is.
I've updated the BIOS to the latest available from Lenovo. I also recall this happening way back in 2014 when it had Win8 on it, so I doubt it's a Linux issue (?). I've installed ACPI from apt jic but it hasn't made a difference.
This problem has two versions:
A: rhythmic fans blasting + backlight + power light (as seen in video). The boot attempts happen at ~36bpm. Stuck like this until both batts are disconnected.
B: blasting fans + backlight for two or so secs, then everything off but power light stays on. Can power off by holding power button.
It'd be awesome if I could fix this as this laptop would be great for school if not for the constant gamble of losing all my work when I put it away, and having to carry a screwdriver or paperclip around to dc the internal battery.

dear god i ran the vram test just now on occt
it was absolutely fine for 48mins
and then it went crazy
on the last 12
i noticed the extension i was plugging the pc into only gave 720w max power when coiled (2400w when uncoiled but super long wires, and i had two monitors also plugged in so probably -80w from those = 640w delivered to pc) so i tried plugging pc into mains instead hoping it'd get fixed
but nope
time to send to overclockers and see what they say

Double check all your connections are tight, particularly power connectors, and make sure you didn't accidentally switch the power and reset buttons (it's happened to me lol)
