@foggy hazel CWT does Corsair CX series too. So they have in the very least made some not too bad PSUs. Idk much about the Gigabyte model tho
Eh, it's way too big and overpriced.
fair enough, thank you @cursive wharf
Hei you know if there's a backup page for orionpsudb?
If it had come out in the 90's it'd have been an ace case.
But, in 2020 where DVD/CD Readers are, basically useless. The Enthoo Pro is... not a great case.
so what is a good alternative around the same price?
Well, you can go cheaper and still get great alternatives too.
Do you care about RGB fans and stuff?
not a high priority but it'd be cool
@stoic island use the Wayback Machine or whatever it was called? I never really looked into platform site stuff, just kinda went off of the sources in LTT unless there was none there
This case is half the price, and is an EXCELLENT case
Comes with 4 front panel USB Ports 2 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0
And it comes with 2 fans.
now here is a question I have (first time builder): which is a better case size, mid or full tower?
Mid Tower
and also why?
whichever you want
Full Towers are obsolete.
wouldn't more space be nice though?
Not really.
consider this: you are going to build a very limited number of times in the case.
There's no real point in more space unless you have a niche use case.
true
Like, if you need a billion hdd drives.
Or you for some ungodly reason need a DVD drive.
ok, thx
Which the MX330-G Air actually does support 1 DVD/CD/Blu-Ray drive.
Oh, it actually comes with 3 fans
Even better.
what if, say I had some cash to spare for rgb in a case?
Do you guys have build suggestions for $1800 (Some gaming "Minecraft RTX, Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Among Us" Lots of video editing and 3d rendering, and archiving data with mass storage, and yes, I want an optical drive.)
This is one of the best cases on the market overall
HardDrive, why do you want an optical drive?
Please, give me a legitimate reason.
I still use CD/DVD in 2020 for archiving, and looking at vintage media I have.
Archiving? Archiving WHAT?!? Just build a NAS with a Dvd/cd drive at that point.
NAS meaning, Network Attached Storage
I know
Well I can just boot up some old Dell OptiPlex I have to look at the vintage media.
Do you need Wi-Fi?
Yes.
lol\
100% sure?
Yup
@sonic mantle something to consider. USB optical drive
Alright thanks
Because, I'm almost 100% sure you don't. Powerline Ethernet exists.
Seriously, Powerline Ethernet will change your life.
model
it for big stuf
go ahead
when the nolage is about to be dropped
Powerline Ethernet is this cool thing. You get 2 Powerline Adaptors (you buy them in 2 packs) you plug Ethernet from your Router into the Powerline Adaptor, then plug it into the wall.
Then you plug the other one into the wall near your PC, and plug ethernet into the 2nd adaptor, and your PC. Bam you now have Wired Internet without running a cable across your entire house or through the walls. (Note, your speed will vary depending on breakers and house age)
wow!
The sciency part of it is basically, the Powerline adaptor will use frequency modulation to bury the Ethernet Signal inside the Power signal.
that is cool
That is cool!
Your Cable company uses a similar idea with Cable Internet, except using a tech called MOCA.
Or Multimedia Over Coaxial
I'll have to look into that
You can also buy MOCA adapters (they tend to be more reliable) if you have a Coaxial cable in your PC's room and a spare Coaxial point anywhere else near your router.
Alright
You said you do a lot of video editing/rendering right Hard?
Are you doing it in 4K?
Or some other really high resolution?
Wow, that's... actually kinda hard to do.
Are you sure you are using GPU Encoding in Premier?
Even my meh-tier Laptop from 2016 can chew through 1080p video without major problems.
And it has a 6th Gen i7 and a GTX940M
My laptop has an HGST HDD (yes slow) Ryzen 5 2500u, and Vega 8 Graphics.
I also have a Desktop that I do the majority of my work on.
But, still.
Really? That's weird that it takes a long time to work through 1080p video renders.
Could just be the lack of an SSD
I have heard 2500u sucks at video editing
Are you like, super picky about your Case?
That's fair.
that doesn't seem to be a problem these days
I'm trying to find something that won't suck on airflow, but also has more than 2 3.5" drive bays so you can have a large amount of HDD storage.
Yup.
I have some old Hitachi 7k2000 from 2011 that vibrates my whole room (Not using it but letting you know)
I would like 3TB+ storage though.
how to make earth quakes 101
Do note: The 3070 I picked is purely a placeholder.
I was actually looking at that GPU.
This will kick butt, take names, and KILL 1080p rendering
Oh... I might put some fans in that case now that I think about it.
that is fine
for about $1200, should I wait for the 3060/amd equivalent or is there a better option to go for?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QKyW3Z Fixed the lack of fans
goddamn thats a lot of storage
Oh true mp34 is 107$ for 1tb now
Budget is 1800 USD
istg i need a thingy to get notified of price drops
And, he even has more than enough slots for more 3.5" drives
Mhm
the only thing i would change is psu but thats personal reasons
Might as well get 750w
although 650w is enough for this build i would grab a 750 just to be safe yk
besides it's only 10 usd more
This isn't a to be save thing, this is overkill for future just in case thing
mhm
aight whats the best b550 around $150
yapsy didn't i just see u in pcmr
aight whats the best b550 around $150
@hollow warren just get pro vdh wifi and call it a day. no need to spend more on b550
Ehhhh. I'd grab an A-Pro, just for the slightly better VRM
Maybe
depends on overal lbudget
A lot of the times 30$ can make a pretty big difference
id rather get a wifi board than one with improved vrms, thats just me though i dont usually oc
Ehhhh. I'd grab an A-Pro, just for the slightly better VRM
@versed rock what about the gigabyte one
if you saw it
what gigabyte one
Gigabyte what?
link
what is a good build for around $1200? I'm looking at getting the new ryzen 5 when it comes out, but that's as far as I've gotten
he means ds3h or auorus line up
yep figured so
that one @versed rock
aight good luck on ur build
Here is the final build list, with all of the modifications I made. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pj8QDc
But, you get a Thunderbolt 3 port
on the gigabyte?
oh ok
^^
4tb 5400 ?
Also, that webcam looks real sus
At 1080p Video Editing, you don't need 32GB of RAM realistically
And CL18 RAM is sloooow at 3600Mhz
And you picked a worse PSU for no reason too.
And a flat out worse SSD for the price
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NrJnLP Fixed the RAM amount if you seriously need 32GB of RAM for some reason.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tCpK3Z is this any better?
Why do you need a DisplayPort to DVI converter?
just go for the list skip sent
using an old monitor
I would get a new monitor then bub.
Especially for video editing which needs color accuracy.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/D7YXbh Here's a replacement monitor too.
Just had to ditch an SSD
what is a good esports monitor that is 144-165hz and under 200?
Is there a way you can fit a copy of windows 10 Home/Pro in there?
Do you need Pro features?
No
Then just buy a grey-market W10 Home key for 10 bucks
Alrighty then
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pXMTwP/msi-optix-g241-238-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-optix-g241 @little osprey This is the cheapest reasonable monitor at 1080p 144hz i'd buy.
Anything cheaper than that is gonna ghost like crazy or just be bad, and any more expensive, you would want to go 1440p.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zKZQDc here it is
This better? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Z3FPVc
Why? Do you not like WD?
If you have a failover drive, the storage doesn't combine.
Well, that too.
I've had more failed WD Drives than Seagates
I'll go check if WD blue is SMR
They should be thrown into the fires of H E L L
Well I have had bad experiences with Seagate, (I will not go into the full reason) Have they improved the reliability since the Desktop series?
HDDs in general are pretty reliable now.
I just would advise against WD due to their SMR Drive crap.
vs
Seriously, a 2TB drive should NOT be an SMR drive.
SMR?
1-1.5k
Shingled Magnetic Recording
Aka, literal dumpster garbage that should be thrown in the trash.
Yeah, that should be good enough.
Alright, Thanks! I hope this dosent take 2 hours to render a 15 minute video (lol)
It won't.
I can render 15 minute 1080p videos on my 3600 + GTX 1070 in about... 5 minutes or so.
wow!
gonna guess there's a reason for 75hz monitor?
yeah i was gonna mention that
He's not Gaming that hard, and he needed a new more color accurate monitor.
Haven't been following
you could probably get a 144 for like an extra 20 dollars
oh then why aoc
His current monitor is DVI Only.
Price?
don't remember, remembered they were usually around the same price as 144hz
He's working with 1080p video also.
mhm, 1080p
So, going higher resolution won't help much other than say, maybe more workspace.
hm a good bit more expensive than I remembered, but really good color reproduction as far as I know
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Ultrasharp-inch-Infinity-Monitor/dp/B01IRRGH7M/
I'll also check rtings for good pre-calibrated colors on some cheap-ish monitors
but if you want more work space you could just get a second monitor
also, I'm guessing you're gonna get them to do raid 1 or something?
what is a good build for around $1200? I'm looking at getting the new ryzen 5 when it comes out, but that's as far as I've gotten
that reminds me
lemme retrofit my 1500$ list and see
@timber isle take a look at that
hm
I think it looks pretty good
anyone else have thoughts?
having a 3070 (pending availability) would make me happy
thats pretty good
for 1k
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QBkfPV this one is right on the dot but im not sure
like you dont need the 64 gb of ram most likely
so if you change that to 32 its about 100 dollers cheaper
i just want to double check that this pc will work for minecraft HP Z230 Workstation Gaming Computer Desktop, Intel Core i5-4590, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 240GB SSD & 2TB HDD, USB 3.0, NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 2GB, HDMI, DVI, WiFi - Windows 10 Professional (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084GC7PJB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GNFOFbGYWCZTR
ram really depends on what you do
i want that much ram
GX2 is a bit high priced for a low end PSU imo
yeah, for me one of the things I want to do is some on the side music production as well, which is why I went for 32gb rather than 16
is 600w enough?
Yes
@little osprey if i can run minecraft on a core 2 duo, i think that will be good enough to run it
ok
I just squeeze these lists into certain budgets for gaming performance
other edits can be made
whats the difference in a 3600xt and a 3600x
both are overpriced for the frequency increase
at that point would you be better off buying a 10600k or no?
😳
i just wanna play me some survival games
didnt think of that
what makes the ASrock b550 phantom gaming good?
because there's a good amount to look through
to be specific, it has decent enough VRMs, dual M.2 with NVMe, and ALC1200 making it decent
gigabytes aorus series is decent
is it pcie 4.0 compatible?
and it's not like you need 10g lan on a 100$ board
true
all B550 boards have PCIe_1 and M.2_1 using PCIe 4.0
heh
if you hadn't guessed
yeah
I've generally found that too much is a good way to start
No Youtube channels I've seen so far has good explanations for everything
GN has a lot of goodies
but they don't cover everything
i found that youtube channel to be helfpul for me, jus straight up info on basic things
^^
you can get alot of good info here by asking
lmfao I saw this and I was like huh, korean war time eh
what
what is a DMZ?
just whp
yes
yes
hahahahah
its my favoritekind of pc
nice
so yeah, the channel has some basic info on it but i do wish they had more videos to learn about
read articals
just like techquickie
whats the opion on this AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor
good for price or nto
I've heard that the 5000 series is far and away better
wait for 5000
so when are they releasing the 5000
november 5th iirc
yeah november 5th
whoops
2 days till the bots hit
oopsie daisy
oops
rip
oh no
thats why water cooling scares me a bit
as it should lmao
the monster to pc builders water cooling
on what
Upgrade to i7 990x or to a xeon X5690?
lol gottem
No
true tho
the sin of water cooling
too true
I already have new pc
man can't accept it
Want to upgrade the old
it's too true
i7-0000k
:D
I have a 8700k
I already have new pc
@sharp pelican so what motherboard do you have
also, aren't all xeon chips incompatible with consumer LGA sockets
which prebuilt
lmao that doesn't help
you need to know what motherboard it has
Its a msi agies series?
just open up the prebuilt and take a sneaky peaky
ohh
Small form factor at its finest
just do water cooling it will run better then
ahh so its an 1151 socket i think
lol no please
1151v2
water cooling literally doesn't do any better unless it's extreme custom
Supports 8th and 9th gen
water cooling literally doesn't do any better unless it's extreme custom
@jagged ember bruh liquid nitrogen go brrrr
see if you stick it in a fish tank
So id prob go to a 9900k eventually
it cools super fast
my 1070 ti looking hella sexy
stop
@sharp pelican what chipset is your motherboard
Idek
do you have the link to where you purched it
Look it up
a 9th gen cpu might not be backwards compatible with it im prob wrong
I think
yeah look up the manual if you can
Its in socket
or how much did it cost
no xeon supports a 1151 LGA socket
Probably flash the bios
so you can't use one, im afraid
are we still talking about the prebuilt
NO
i see
ohhh socket 1366
Im talking about the one i posted in #build-pics
lemme jus do sum reading
The X5690 is just a 990x with support of ECC memory and higher bandwidth
And ddr3 ECC is really cheap rn
do you need ecc memory tho
Yes
ok good
288gb support
oh bruv
what are you doing with it?
what are you gonna do with 288gb
then
Run minecraft
why?
Maybe he has a lot of errors that need checking
oh understandable
True
Shii I run one on 4gb
Just need a motherboard that supports ecc thats in 1366
ouch
But no ecc
mm
looking at the 990x, it aint that bad i think
No, its not bad
but idk about older cpu's and their value so what am i to say
But its really expensive
You can find nice used xeons on Amazon for cheap
A good x5650 can run you a good $5
Wurth
Totally
well i found a 980x on ebay
$90
For a 990x with higher bandwidth
Just oc you'll be good
I dont wanna fry my 920
#toastergang
Dang
I'm at 40c full load
Wtf
6600k at 4.3
Water cooled
Pretty good bang for the buck ngl
watch out
How to buy rtx 3080?
Those new?
I dont hate AMD, its actually funny to see them finally compete with intel
Do i look like google?
No.
I add it to cart the same second inventory comes in and then it wont load in cart
newegg is troll
How to RTX?
RTX ftw
Still on GTX
it was in at 5:46[40m ago]
They limited selling to best buy anyways
50m is a long time
I added to cart the second it was listed
Ye fe best ones
and in cart it says no available
You have to wait
@exotic marten For example, Gigabyte eagle, can beat FE at MSRP :P
Nvidia announced it like 2 weeks ago
I got all my bots to buy them 😎
Unless it's changed now
I saw a 3070 in stock today
Who want a 2080 super?
For free?
what do i have to do for you dady
I have a mouth and im chubby
Man ohh man so tempting
eBEGGING
Imma classy boi so no cheap motels
I smell ebegging
It's not begging its a trade
what do i have to do for you dady
hmm?
lol jk
even then...
rule #9
9. No sweepstakes/giveaways, e-begging, trading or selling on this server.
Chub gang real
sorry im not trading
im giving him a hug and he is gifting me a card
Bigg mod guy
We're keeping it prof
modding is bad
wow tell that to theo
Tell that to cod devs
insane
And yet I still see it in warzone
can someone help and go on a call with me i’m basically at the end of my build process but i don’t know what to do now
i finished everything i just need to put the psu in but i’m not that good at building pcs
Modular psu or regular
modular
Have you connected the wires to the mobo/gpu already?
yeah
So it sounds like you just need to pull them through the back of the case snuggly not really taught then connect to back of psu
Psu has 4 screws
Just match the connector sizes
alr thank you
Would intel or Ryzen be better for a person who has never built a pc before
does anyone wanna hop in a call and help me test my pc because it performs bad
Welp newest ryzen cheaper so
Ryzen installation is easier imo
its just lever up, drop in, lever down
intel has that retention thing
Extra powa baby
@foggy hazel by the way, just remembered that we can use wayback machine for orionpsudb, CWT GPS is used on C tier PSUs.
https://web.archive.org/web/20200815163530/http://orionpsudb.com/platforms
This is my first ever pc what do you guys think? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bRXfPV
I had a $1000 budget ncluding the monitor
built already or no
Built already
Don't know about that psu
then it's fine
Lil sus
It’s one of the cheaper option they had at microcenter
Ahh ok
Yeah bought everything at microcenter. Had some guy guide me through their stock
Looks solid
anybody know anything about azza power supplies?
Actually what does 80+ bronze, silver, gold, etc mean
I seen some go all the way to platinum
You can safely ignore them for quality comparison.
@unborn bane #building-and-recc-chat message
Ah
and thank you @stoic island :)
Ty
They're efficiency ratings
They are power efficiency ratings
ok? that means?
Basically higher is more efficient
So like 80+ Bronze is like 82% efficient, 80+ Gold 84% efficient, 80+ Platinum 85% efficient or something like that
Ooooh I see
you can go to titanium which is max
but it tells you nothing about the actual quality of the PSU
I would much rather take a good 80+ Bronze PSU than a crappy 80+ Gold one
So like more power from your outlet will get converted to power for your pc?
To find that just look at what they make it with
depends. the efficiency depends on the load
Always go with 100w more than what you need
I wouldn't do the "100w more than what you need"
I stick with seasonic. Never had any issues
Seasonic S12iii suck, Corsair green label CX sucks, EVGA N1 sucks
bottom of the barrel
but at the same time
Seasonic focus PX, Corsair RMx, EVGA G2, are some of the best consumer PSUs
just examples
I see I see
I'd personally get like Phanteks amp or Enermax Revolution D.F.
@fringe goblet point is, don't buy for the brand, buy for the model and the product itself.
gigabyte and corsair have decent powersupplies
overall their lineup is pretty reliable, except the cheap ones
PSU Tier List 4.0 rev. 14.4 Last Update: 10-09-2020 Gold - best units in the tier (includes requirements for blue color in tier A) Blue - quiet operation under moderate load Green - small form-factor See spreadsheet for changelog, methodology, detailed description of colors, s...
I’ll save that ty
it's pinned in this channel.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ is this good its my first build and i also don't know what to put for a graphics card
its also a budget of $1500
@odd glacier heyo, wrong link
oh, they should pin the storage device master list on here too
They did in #storage-devices
that one work
they need to pin mobo mastersheet tho
but not here lol
Yea
actually, tho
@odd glacier grab the sn750 drive instead :)
(Reason being, dram on SSD is good :)
any recommendations on a graphics card?
Let's finish up rounding out the edges of what you have so far.
for the new drive do i was it to be 1 TB aswell?
BTW Naed sx8200 pro is like 20cad cheaper, gonna go for that in edited list.
What's the bugget
$1500
With monitor or not
@odd glacier how do you feel about this to start off?
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/NqFPVc
i have a monitor already
I can explain each change
The SX8200 Pro is using a slower controller and memory now than what they were originally using even 8 months ago, so it probably not worth it anymore.
hey @stoic island thank you for all ur help my pc finally works
@limpid mason I know, talked with Naed about it a while ago.
nice
i've tried using the pcbuilder before but there's just 1 problem for me- my motherboard isn't even on the list so i can't know what's compatible or not so i might end up just getting a new motherboard altogether
Serve the home did testing on it, roughly similar perf for the average person
I think it was seq read/write where it dropped off
yeah, the diff isnt noticable to many, because we are talking seconds of difference, not minutes...
one of the speeds dropped off, while the rest stayed consistant.
@proud basalt You're welcome.
@little osprey what motherboard?
would you mind explaining each change?
i will grab xeno @stoic island
@little osprey as he asked, which mainboard model?
@odd glacier CPU Change is because the difference between 3600x and 3600 is just about a 200mhz clock increase, not worth spending like 40cad more.
i got the prebuilt ASUS M32 Desktop as a gift in 2016, i changed out the GPU and PSU already which is great but i REALLY need a new CPU and look to replacing the storage stuff next. the motherboard is a K30AD_M31AD_M51AD_M32AD
would i need a cpu cooler with that tho?
which i cannot find what will or won't work with it
Nope, all Ryzen 3rd gen CPUs came with good enough stock coolers for stock.
Motherboard change is more personal preference, but saves a good bit of cash, and still has about the same features.
ohh ok
I prefer to save as much money as possible in other sectors to jam into the GPU.
@little osprey you are basically out of luck on upgrading the CPU on that one
RIP
so just get a new motherboard and CPU then
not too much of a hassle, the M32 case is decent
aye, that is the easiest by far. However. you will need new ram too.
yeah of course
if you can get a 4790 you'll be laughing
because currently you are using ddr3, and everything modern is ddr4
SSD change as mentioned above was because the lack of dram in SN550, and SX8200 pro (has dram) is the cheapest drive on my list of good NVMe drives :)
@odd glacier
4790 is nice
yes, laughing over why he wasted money on it @unborn bane
you can upgrade it to an i7 4790K if you wish, but thats as good as you're going to get it
im thinking on going to ryzen instead of intel cpu's
how the hell is that a waste
it's like the same price as a 3100 or osmehting
because the cpu is slow as heck.
my dad's computer is a 4790, with a sata ssd, 16GB memory, and a 2060, and he's playing some good games
yes. "some"
and 3100 is a lot better than a 4790
a 3100?
@odd glacier Next, Case change, H510 is just really bad airflow, I like 275r airflow for looking decent while having airflow.
@little osprey so it boils down to what budget etc for things :)
a 4790 is still a usable CPU for today, but if you're trying to use it with todays graphics for gaming, even a GTX1080 is bottlenecked due to the processor
can someone go on a call with me and help me build my pc
a 4790 is about the same as a 3200G
@odd glacier and now onto the more optional changes that I haven't made yet, what do you need 32gb of ram for? 16gb is plenty for most people.
And I would likely just put in a good 650w PSU to save a buck.
in some CPU benchmark thing
ye, after i get a few new things the budget 1050 Ti will hold up for a bit longer before i decide to replace it sometime next year or somethin
i wasn't sure what case i should get
and idk i was just following a build on youtube lol
@little osprey aye aye :) feel free to ask if you want to know more at a later date :)
will do, ty 👍
honestly no clue about the 32gb of ram thought it was a good ideaa
32 GB is for video editing and things of that nature
so 16gb is better for gaming kinda thing
It's cheaper
It's more a "16gb is enough" thing.
so just switch from 32 to 16
I'll change the PSU and ram in the list for ya
Is 600w to 650w good for most things
mhm
ok thank you
something like this:
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/n94gt8
better then what i had before gives more room for a better graphics card
So what kind you you going for
that part im lost on
Are they new ryzen CPU’s being released tomorrow?
@odd glacier oh right you want GPU suggestion now correct?
yeah unless there was anything else that could be changes
@meager pumice saw ur pic why the dryer tubes outside?
no just gonna game
Buying now or can you want for 3070 stock?
Here are the options imo :
- 5700xt/2070 super new right now,
- 2080 super from EVGA B stock/used
- Wait and get a 3070 or AMD equivalent.
3rd option is preferred
but stock is iffy.
I agree with @stoic island , the 3070 is an absolute perfect match for the 3600 without any bottlenecks
yes
so best option is 3070 so i should wait
Yes.
Need any clarifications?
I looked at EVGA b stock earlier for a 1650 Super and it was higher than msrp
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JQjqkX is this a good high budget (5k)
woah
nope that works for me
@still bay you tryna be serious or no
Alright, good luck @odd glacier
Option 2 and 1 are fallback options if Option 3 falls through with 3070 stock being bad.
if i could put RGB in where should i get
or should i not do that on my first built
Rgb = flex
@odd glacier if you cant find a 3070 for a couple months you should be able to get a 1060 6gb for around 100$ used on ebay
for example, this case for 30cad more
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/pvdrxr/cooler-master-masterbox-td500-mesh-w-controller-atx-mid-tower-case-mcb-d500d-kgnn-s01
When ur paying 5k I guess it doesn't rly matter?
for a temporary
if the 3070s aren't in stock
for like a few months
and its only 100
5k most things have rgb at that bugget
@still bay you tryna be serious or no
@stoic island yes
i just have a massive budget for a build to last me the next 5 ish years
its for gaming
@still bay i would recommend a few changes.
first, the paste: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yR2kcf/coollaboratory-thermal-paste-liquidpro
Much better at quickly getting that heat away
The SSD's, the 980 pro is a better option due to your Motherboard supporting PCIe 4. you will get MUCH faster read/write speeds.
Im still going through your list
Intel not the best now
the hell is that
maybe i wont get RGB for now
what is that paste
hold on, let me show you
no ik 980 is better i just cant find them on pcp
Rgb where's your pc going to be
@still bay Because Intel 10th gen doesn't support PCIe 4.0 :D
that's another reason to go AMD
baka
also
for paste I'd go KPX if you wanted really good paste over whatever the hell that was linked
im not able to post other links because i just joined this channel and dont have the levels yet
@odd glacier is your pc under a table if so don't rgb
idk if imma get that AIO keep in mind
toms hardware did a benchmark on thermal paste and this one is AMAZING
Never heard of that stuff
It's top ranked
i was gonna put under table so yeah i wont get it then
Lemme go find I think it was overclockers.uk's review on pastes
a while ago, but KPX should still be one of the best pastes.
If it will not be seen don't waste money
i had never heard of it either until recently, and the benchmarks speak for themselves. my next build, thats what im using
yeah i saw the benchmarks and was considering it myself
kryonaught was actually nto as good
like a week or two ago
yeah but the vision g is just so sick
thanks for the help btw guys i appreciate it
@celest horizon Got any idea how KPX would stack up against the Coollaboratory thing?
Silly to compare kpx to liquid metal
oh you're joking
I saw thermal grease
I assumed paste
that's why
tanks
so yea
that's why
yo I have a dell optiplex 7010 with a core i5-3470 any GPU suggestions that won't bottleneck the CPU?
8gb of ram and 1tb of storage btw
aye, that can work
regular 1650 right?
since PSU prob won't have extra PCIe connectors
not the super?
problem is which model of case
Can you check if PSU does?
and which model of case, height compatibility will matter too
there is a variant that uses HH cards
I'm going to work on a 4000usd Ryzen list now
enough leftover budget to add in whatever
Nah it doesn't it's an optiplex
What cpu
No for the 4000 list
That 6000
When I was looking for one I was told by one of my friends to avoid a SFF case
@still bay done
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zKPfPV
its an o-ll
@lucid leaf then you can use a regular 1650
@lucid leaf the 1050 is probably going to be your best bet for GPU's. even the 1650 has a 14% bottleneck. your CPU is simply just not strong enough for gaming at 1080p.
that case made me throw up @stoic island
I don't really mind
went for a 980pro and then a sabrent rocket 4.0 with htsk for whatever reason
idrk
bro
...
alright then
I plan on using this PC for games that are like 3+/4+ years old
Yea GTX 1650 LP should work for you
if I'm gonna play a modern game it's most likely going to be an indie game not a triple a studio game
Alright thanks
also 850watts at 4000 dollars is obsurd
Ye how do you mean
850w is almost over kill in that build
Strictly looking at TDP it's overkill
for synesthetic load on everything it'll have enough headroom, but not that overkill
Also depends what you do with it
didn't Linus Sebastian do a video that shows the 3090 drawing much more power than the 350W its supposed to not use more than?
where
linus tech tips
@uncut pelican so they can get the cold air
@limpid mason I refer you to tech jesus
https://youtu.be/Xgs-VbqsuKo?t=697
This is our review of the NVIDIA RTX 3090 GPU (using Founders Edition video card). Lots of people are talking about how the RTX 3090 "brings 8K gaming" to fruition. We put those claims to the test.
Grab a GN Foil 1 Million Subs shirt while you can! https://store.gamersnexus.ne...
~350w power draw
as described as TDP
on stock
ive watched that video too. maybe i misheard?? its possible.
and yes, i know what the specsheet reads
Are you sure that's max not min
I'm saying it's ~350w in the video
its supposed to be max
That's max
synthetic load
@thorny tusk you know what another name for Furmark is?
It's nicknamed a power virus for a reason
because it asks the GPU to draw it's max allowed power
and then some
No I dont
I like the arctic freezer ii for a reason
it's the best performing AIO that GN has tested
:P
oh well
good nuff
and I thought you wanted a white board so I grabbed a b550 vision d to start off..
@thorny tusk you know what another name for Furmark is?
@stoic island
It's a power virus
and I thought you wanted a white board so I grabbed a b550 vision d to start off..
@stoic island yeah but vision d is like ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i cant tell if its cool or not
vision G is sickkkkk]\
why does intel have all the cool boards
eh i dont like the fan look
