on it đ
does anyone know a aio with a gif screen?
the kraken z63 is always sold out and wanted to find another
@languid mauve that ssd is super sketch
PSU could be better
Looks on to me
The ssd is bad?
Ty
Yes
Hmm
Sata with no dram
What do you suggest?
mp34 is good for nvme
ADATA XPG SX850 is good for sata
The PSU could definitely be better too
Nvme is faster but more expensive, yeah
Seasonic is pretty decent for some models
What do you suggest?
Let me check what's available
If you're just looking for cheap, this one works
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kCtQzy/evga-br-500w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-100-br-0500-k1
Depends. If it's in stock, it's fine
Price matching doesn't help if all the retailers are about the same price
I guess
But things are cheaper on amazon or cheaper on newegg
It covers the net
Saves a bit
Canât complain
True
Is 450 watts good?
Im also going to be using a 24â monitor
Mouse
And keyboard
Would 450 do fine?
You'll probably want at least 500
Hmm
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dDH48d/corsair-txm-gold-550w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020133-na
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VmsmP6/cooler-master-mwe-gold-750-w-80-gold-certified-atx-power-supply-mpy7501acaagus
Here are two higher quality supplies if you don't mind spending a bit more
You suggest bronze and 500w
Not gonna go for anything off wish
But
I think 70 is a bit off budget
Is 50 for that too good to be true?
Which one?
Seasonic S12III
The evga is only 63 though
So if itâs a must ill go for it
What should I go for on my monitor? HDMI?
I'd go for the evga over that seasonic, but that's just me. Get DP for your monitor if you can
For display port what do I need?
A display port cable and a monitor with a display port jack
Okay
Ty and ty lol
Very oriental
mmhmm
Logitech
G402?
Ok updated build
Peripherals are not important rn
Build is
I actually got a deal on a razer mouse and keyboard for 20
Oops
Thoughts?
It's a keyboard
Nice
Looks good to me
Okay thanks guys.
Tommorow im going out and buying and assembling the parts for my pc.
Or maybe sunday.
Nice
in #storage-devices for the SSD list
imma make the best build list ever and if you disagree with me you are a adhdphobic
Why so much storage
to install so much ram
@nocturne folio don't forget your SATA cables... An extra SATA controller... And a roll of duct tape so you can use that case
Can you even put that many hard drives in that case?
I blame it all on the team ram
Why do you hate Teamgroup reeee
What thermal paste should i use?
Got my built out together and windows downloaded onto a flash drive. When I turn on my pc it shows â reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key pcâ
No key works and I have no reset button on my case
Already helping him in dms
Boot into the BIOS and make sure USB booting is enabled
How can I post pics in here
you have to talk more
Gotta be level 3
^
Check ur level in #ranks-and-levels
reggular rank
Nice Iâm level 3 lol
Okay so
Itâs showing this screen
No keys work
What to do
Boot into the BIOS and make sure USB booting is enabled
Sorry I shouldâve respondedâI had it booted into BIOS
How do I enable usb booting?
Switch tabs until you get so something that says âbootâ or something
Sift through there and see if USB booting is enabled
If not, enable it
Then in that same tab look for your boot path, and set that to try to boot to USB first
Do u guys know how to pirate windows
Alr thanks
If youâre getting it for a PC download it to a usb stock
imagine pirating windows instead of just downloading it from mircosoft themselves for free
Oof
all it requires is a second pc to download from and a usb
for a key it can range from like $3-$15 if you look around
Or pirate it
Yeah I just donât know what to do
Just stuck in a look I canât do anything in that screen
lmao everyone focused on the drives and not the huge fricking bottle neck
a titan paired with a celeron
made this budget 1080p machine for my friend and recommendations?
the ssd will only be used as a boot drive and for one other thing
what?
DRAMless drives can be worse than hhds when full
Here:
**SSD Considerations: **
⢠DRAM/HMB: DRAM/HMB is basically ram on your SSD that stores metadata (google it). An SSD without DRAM can get much slower than a HHD as it fills up. HMD allows your SSD to use your system memory for this, but not all systems support it. DRAM/HMB is the pretty much the most important consideration when purchasing an SSD. DRAM >> HMB >>> DRAM-less.
⢠Bits per cell: SLC (1) > MLC (2) > TLC (3) > QLC (4). TLC is the norm, the more bits per cell, the less durable and fast.
⢠Interface: NVMe SSD > SATA SSD > HHD. NVMe drives are much faster than SATA SSDs, which are much faster than HHDs. Don't assume all M.2 SSDs are better than Serial ATA. M.2 is just the form factor, they can still be Sata drives and run slower.
⢠Law of Diminishing Returns: SATA SSDs with DRAM offer tangible speed improvements, but a HHD --> SATA SSD is a much bigger jump in performance than an SSD --> NVME or an NVME --> Gen 4 NVMe. Don't feel that you need to buy the newest Gen 4 NVMe, they don't offer that much more than a good Gen 3
⢠Brand: Don't shop for a brand, shop for the product. Some brands (AHEM Samsung) make good products but charge a premium for them.
⢠Speed: Faster is better, but keep in mind the Law of Diminishing Returns.
Use this master spreadsheet to find the above information: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B27_j9NDPU3cNlj2HKcrfpJKHkOf-Oi1DbuuQva2gT4/edit#gid=0
Yeah, that is another option
yeh both r good budget ssd's
I love M2s I just discovered them haha
M.2 doesn't mean that much
Just so cool. Small and fast
wait but if an ssd only writes then i'm pretty sure that it preserves it's speeds for way longer
Fits right into mobo
Don't assume all M.2 SSDs are better than Serial ATA. M.2 is just the form factor, they can still be Sata drives and run slower.
True, but m.2 doesn't mean fast
M.2 drives still can be DRAMless, sata and worse than an HHD
I dunno about that mobo either, but I guess you are on a tight budget
Low end b450 isn't much more tho: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/hpRzK8/gigabyte-b450m-ds3h-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-ds3h
I have b450 for a ~$1100 build I think itâs a p good option as well
honestly scene as he won't be doing any overclocking and just a bit of gaming I personally wouldn't worry abt the mboard
it has good reviews ryzen 3 ready and I trust msi
Well yeah, but A series chipset vs b series
all that matters here is does it work
And for how long
well yeh
Alright then, if you want to save the 20 euros no judgement
ÂŁ
ok how long would u estimate that a board like that would last?
It should last some time if it isn't under a lot of heat all the time
Which it shouldn't
well yeh idk how much he'll b gaming but I doubt it'll be more than 10 hours a week
also there is 2 case fans with on open fron pannel
panel*
Ig it'll be fine then
It's not going to explode
the cpu fan can pull air from the top and the gpu will be getting pleanty of fresh air
Do I have to set my ram to 3200 in BIOS or is it already like that?
Oh ok ty
I still havent built my first pc yet bc my mum lost her credit card
thermal throttling?
Not under load
Oh really?
1650 is temporary lol
Iâm planning on upgrading to like 3070 or whateverâs coming out
Yeah, I heard the new AMD cards are monsters
Yooo im in my menu haha I donât know what this is
How do I download my ISO file
but scene as a 1080ti is the same as a 2070s in terms of performance and they are saying that going from 10 to 20 will be a small boost than going from 20 to 30 that makes sense
This?
we will just have to wait and see with the amd cards
Iâm so excited man this is my first build
did u steal that keyboard from the library? xd
nah I was kidding
Yeah, I wish theyâd come out sooner
lol
Reboot? Thatâs what I did
that's the BIOS
Could someone help me with my motherboard. It wont display any video. First time setup.
Asus crosshair hero x570 motherboars 5700xt or gtx 770
@scarlet gazelle no
Do not try to flash it
Just go into the boot sequence and put the usb thumb drive to the top
Make sure to enable xmp too
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WsnNPn
Hello everyone. Someone unfortunately was given a 9900k CPU in an LGA 1200 motherboard, and he has decided to go over to AMD. Are these replacement parts okay?
I'd go with the 3900x, its cheaper for similar perf in games
^
Motherboard okay however?
thats a bit expensive but sure
Alright, gonna run this list with a few others.
can we post pics in here or nah
ew
@grizzled wigeon only if you need build help and if it's related to that subject
ok
i do need build help
im starting to buy pieces to the build at christmas, but i want to plan it out now
so in 2021 the most powerful stuff for this decade will be out right?
i worded that weird
? theyâre gonna come out with new stuff
i meant the most powerful stuff so far such as the 3000 series nvidia cards and the 4000 series ryzen chips
thatâs how it usually works :v
will the 3080ri be out before september 2021
2021 ya probably
Whatâs a custom loop? @little leaf If your talking about a AIO then yes.
@odd crypt the stock cooler will be fine id save that $40 and put it towards something else, and if you want a hdd get the 2tb seagate one for $55
and dont spend 100 on windows
Oh i need to go and fix it brb
How much is 2060?
2060 300$
I see
2060 MSRP was 350$, prob same for 3060 MSRP
But 2060 prices dropped down to 300$ when super came out
Could get 3600c16 ram
But 3200c16 is decent
Depends on if you want to spend that extra 20$
So was that what u were talking about?
ye
g241 I guess
Iâm thinking about buying a pre-built
How does Intel Core I7 and 1660 Graphics Card
I mean GTX
Is this good specs
price ?
499$ @vital warren
better than what i have currently lmao
Thatâs good wtf
9700 is a hella good cpu for 500
Thatâs basically the CPU, GPU, and RAM alone (for that price). Totally go for it
I value it as a 3300x :D
Ryzen fanboys have joined the chat
Lel
I see
Yea it's not bad
9700F has more cores and is faster than the 3300X
what
what
Yes
8c8t and 4c8t
Well at least to me it is
Well at least to me it is
Repetition
in games 9700 is like close to 3800/3900x performance
Anyone have a decent monitor to be coupled with a 2060?
no
I have a dell optiplex 9020 i want to find a gpu that can work stock power supply without it bottle necking
What gpu would be good
What PCIe power cables does the PSU come with
if it has no psu cables then the best you can get is a 1650
Ok thanks
@hollow bridge $499 USD?
used prebuilt?
cuz that is quite good, which is very rare if new
I'd be a bit cautious with the PSU, but even with that plus buying a new PSU if needed, still good deal. So go for it and then see which PSU it is (note: wattage, rating, and brand mean little in PSU quality. Gold PSUs can easily suck, PSUs from known brands can easily be IEDs, etc)
Ok
Yeah, I think so
@zinc sedge you should probably cable manage
wtf happened to the msi 2060 i remember it being 360 now its 480? wth
I like how I want to build a pc but have the worst internet in the world
@vestal cove Not sure what more I can do. The cables you can see can't really be managed any more than they are
How good is a ryzen 5 3600 and a 1660s for a photo editing pc?
I think it'd be pretty good for a work station right?
I'm trying to build a pc for my mom
If anyone has any advice please tag me
Good list besides psu @little osprey
For just photo editing you could definitely fly with a 1650s tho
Gives you more room for a better psu anyway
Oh wait
Okay, I just want her to be able to handle stuff into the future
I just saw you dont have a ssd
Thats why I went with 1660s
i plan on getting ssd, but for now was just worried on getting it built
she can always add an ssd
Photo editing more of a load on the cpu afaik
3600 is a very nice chip
Yes
Ya
Whats up
Lemme look
I already did the other one but ill look at this one too lol
700 was max budget right?
700ish
Im looking for something that will be able to make rendering photos / videos easy for her
Single fan cards kinda scare me though
and people keep stripping features
Ok, his list is almost good. I'll just change a few things
Okay
I'd prefer wifi chip in the mobo but thats seems to be really expensive
Wouldn't mind an adapter as long as its good quality
Np
How much can I sell this for
I gtg rn but if you have any other questions I'm sure someone else is around to help
depends on how gullible the buyer
True
Summed up my message lmao
spec wise like 500
The ram looks terrible
tax
Iâm tax exempt
?
if u resale u donât pay tax
Is that a laptop
thatâs a pc
I mean starting cost
u can apply for tax exempt if u resell
Unless I mean if you wanna price flip due to corona
true
That gtx 1660ti sells for 270ish
That iphone is probably dead or dying
And a scam
What
Idk sounds fishy
I snagged one
they were on clearenxe
@vocal swan what's the cpu?
I58400
@hollow bridge just keep in mind people who are looking to buy parts actually know the parts and are not as gullible as those just looking to buy a PC
Should I upgrade to a 1080ti or a 2070 from a 1650?
2070 is newer and will last longer I believe
Wait until next gen
yes
im not sure if my MOBO will support next gen @deep skiff
if you mean pcie 4.0 it should be fine
What mobo u have?
If youâre insistent on upgrading now go 2070 Super, but if you can wait then wait
heres what happens to a 1080 when you cut the bandwidth in half
ASUS Prime H310M-E R2.0 @opal stratus
it should work fine at pcie 3.0 16x unless you have something like dual 3080 ti's
you think ? @deep skiff
confident
looking at pcie 3.0 16x vs 8x, it takes dual titan v's to show a difference in performance when the bandwidth gets cut in half, like what would happen if a pcie 4.0 16x card ran at 3.0 16x
I currently rock a 1650 with 16gbs ddr4 and a i7 9700f
What do you personally think my next upgrade should be @deep skiff
9700f is still good for gaming i'd upgrade the gpu like you were thinking about
my first first upgrade was 8 to 16gbs .
So i thought the gpu would be best for next
ya upgrading the ram to 16gb was smart, after the gpu you should have a killer rig
I mainly play siege and cod right now.
i am trying to play solo games and games like rust rn
budget of under 1k https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Waterorca/saved/ rate these (most likely the 2060 one)
What psu do you have@scenic cliff
You know the specific model?
I do not
Hmm
I know it supports up to a 2070
Might want to find that out before making any serious upgrades
i just stop test in 3 minute because my CPU is going 95 degree can you look and can you tell me what to do @sand falcon
Sorry for the noob question but looking at building a PC for my first home lab. Can anyone recommend some hardware for the PC build. Iâm mainly going to run Azure, Active Directory, Virtual Machine and maybe sneaker botting software. Budget is around $1000
Why azure đŚ
Jumping into an IT job and I need to learn Azure and Active Directory.
Iâm going to be using Azure/Active Directory everyday at work. As for my home lab, I just need to use Azure to get better acquainted the service. Iâm not using Azure for personal use
But it will just be for home lab, no gaming or something like that on the side?
Just home lab, some Minecraft
Minecraft server or client?
Client
Homelab is a small server
OHH
Generally, homelabs have no GPU
Yeah, Idk why you'd want to play minecraft on a server pc
Just build a cheap server
Yes but I want to do a complete build. I know for the VM Iâm going to need at least 16gb of ram
However, since it will also be used as a minecraft client, it will need some GPU
Is it like a server / pc hybrid?
Any pc can be used as a server
he could use an igpu but it would be terrible
Any pc can be used as a server
@sand falcon You shouldn't do it at the same time
Better to have to separate imo
Not really necessary
Ig
It's fine
Just my opinion
Depends on how much ram / cpu really I guess then
What is Azure for?
@kind cape what sort of case you looking for? 2U, 4U, normal tower?
Azure is a server OS
Yes, what is the server for
Azure
Like a website, database,
VM
Okay sorry, what does Azure do
It's an operating system
Database mgmt also
Oh ok
It's an operating system, like windows or mac
That makes more sense
Azure can run VM also
It's basically microsoft's version of Linux
Is it just really intensive?
So they are running a server but on azure (operating)
Itâs modular. You but what you need
^
i don't really understand
Anyhoo, what sort of a case are you looking for
but im a windows pleb
I know
linux is pretty mind boggling to me
Im aware
You log in, you open firefox
But it cant open stuff like msis and stuff
Also, library computers are kinda locked down and you shouldn't install stuff on them
@sand falcon Iâm going normal tower
Cool
But I mostly played flash games
Any size preference?
Eazy does that sort of thing require a lot of cooling though
I'd probably think Ryzen would be better for that sort of thing
It really depends
Probably a 7 or 9
It really depends
If you have the budget
It really depends
@little osprey I think so.
YES I KNOW
Im just saying in my opinion
Saying "it depends" is like saying "yes and no"
Thank you for your opinion on something you have already stated you know nothing about
When he says it depends it depends lmao
Clearly ryzen is better for servers
Again, it depends
Due to high thread count, no?
Really depends
Not even trying bro
Mostly on what you use the server for
for a DB server, you generally just use some low power CPU, maybe 2 cores
Wait he isnt running an mc server?
@sand falcon eventually when I have the money I do want to explore NAS but for the time being do you think 4u would be a good size to start ?
I can design you a rack or a tower, or both
My old school had a bunch of racks
For a rack, the PSU will be cheaper, but the mobo more expensive
It was really awesome ngl
Probably switches, right?
I'm not sure, it was before I was super into building pcs although I had mine
Okay
But there were a lot of servers, and it was mostly for managing internet traffic because majority of computers used chrome
Which is a really big bandwith hog
That would be a switch then
Thing with lotsa plugs and blinky lights?
Yes
I stuck my guitar in there often
They're fun
For the switches I picked up some second hand Cisco switches
Not at this moment but when I get everything up and running...Iâm going deeper in to the rabbit role
Cool
I will leave the option open for the future
Will you be running any OS besides azure?
Primarily Windows, Iâm going to Run Linux on VM. I run Tails from a from my thumb drive
I would highly recommend native Linux for the server, especially if the only game you run will be minecraft
Which Distro ?
Probably debian or centos if you're going into server
Okay
I finally found the case
I love this thing
I will assume you will not be needing wifi?
đ¤Ł
that thing pains me
Shuddup
that thing seems nice
Looks good...Iâm good with the WiFi đ
It's the next best thing to a server rack
Those ports on the front? hot swappable 3.5" HDD slots

that looks like if the first xbox was a server rack
I like that !!!
I just found the one motherboard on pcpp that is sideways
That is OCD triggering to a whole new level
Does anyone know if the 4750g is actually available?
Not in the US so far
rip
This build makes me so happy
@kind cape https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mfTG9G
How does this look?
I assume you have a reason for the ram?
It doesn't have pcie4, but you could upgrade later if you end up needing it
Server with azure, database, and vm
nothing that would be GPU workload?
Occasional light minecraft
570 is probably overkill, but eh what the heck
I actually didn't think to check price
I just thought cheap and went amd đ¤Ł
570 still cheaper
570 is not worth 150 tho just saying
ÂŻ_(ă)_/ÂŻ
@sand falcon that would definitely work. In the future could I add another cooling system to this build ?
Definitely. That's another nice thing about that case
Lotsa cooling room
Not length wise, but depth wise
You can use server grade fans in it
noctua go brrrrr
Blowiematron goes brrrrrr
It also has separate cooling sections for CPU/GPU and PSU/HDD which is cool
@sand falcon Got it !!
Could someone pls recommend a budget m.2 that has like 1tb or more?
@sand falcon I really appreciate it. Going to post pics of the finished product
or sabrent rocket
Cool thanks
I mean how much storage could I really need
I just play games and do school work
Try 1tb
Also I put thermal paste in the pcie so it would have better temps but it isnât detecting now, any ideas why?
Yeah Iâll go with 1tb, I already have 500gb mp34
Trolling donât worry đ
I'm actually curious
Actually now I am too
Paste goes in the socket, not the slot
I saw someone put thermal paste in an AM4 socket
It shouldn't damage pins but how do you get it out
Decent thermal paste doesn't exactly dry
Don't know if that would work either
I had a serious question now I forget
Oh yeah, you know like the amd overclocking program?
Ryzen master?
What about it?
Can somebody help me with a budget build list tomorrow morning?
Ask tomorrow morning then
Yeah ryzen master
When it says max CPU temp is that the max it hit in that session?
can someone tell me why my pc turns on even the rgb bit nothing displays on the screen and the red box is on the mobo for red
What mobo do you have
Right so I am connecting my psu to my cpu and graphics card but the cords are unmarked
How do I know which is which?
They don't say pcie on one of them?
Should be one that branched into a 8 and a 6+2 connecter
That goes to psu
I mean GPU
One has 6/2 branched 6/2 and the other has 4/4
Okay also, my x570 has 12 pins but the 4/4 only has 8
And on the motherboard it is separated 4/8
Should I put it all in the 8 slot or put half in 4 and half in 8
I can dm you pic
Put all in 8 slot
Np
My PC turns on but when I connect it to a screen it stays black/blank...
Anyone knows what I could have done wrong?
Did you plug your monitor into your GPU or your motherboard?
Same problem @leaden shell
Did you plug your monitor into your GPU or your motherboard?
@potent prairie
Yep
Yep isn't an answer lol
GPU
K. Try reseating everything. GPU, all power cables, ram, etc
@potent prairie grammatically, âyepâ is an answer lol
Mmhmm
Itâs a dog inside a hot
@analog hearth đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
don't ping me and send only emojis
Iâm probably going to get an nzxt h1 and it comes with the only option of a 140mm aio Iâm going to use a 3700x will it be ok with thermals it should i swap the fan out for a better fan?
Hi everyone
@shut tapir it should be fine
Is this mouse good for gaming
I'm having difficulties removing my cpu from the heatsink
When I am trying to reseat it
It couldn't get hot because it never started
Looks like generic mouse so from a competitive standpoint no @hollow bridge mice are one of the few things that âgamingâ marketing can actually matter. Most generic mice have a lot of input lag
3 cents o_0
yeh just get something like a deathadder elite
or if you can exten your budget the viper mini is a great choice
there is also the g502
would i be able to set my pc up via ethernet next to my router and then plug the wifi adapter so i donât need ethernet connection after setup?
is your pc going to be on the floor ? or on the desk ?
@cdmlb#3500 iâm just now getting back but i have to have it on my desk because i have carpet in my room
do you need any of it
kinda just at a glance, you probably wonât be able to make a profit on much of it
But if I get stuff for cheeper
most of it is just eh, if ur local 3600 is a decent deal at 140
thatâs what i was gonna mention
why
itâs still like, what, $25 off even not local
True
so you could pick it up for a little discount
i donât think he mentioned it
I'd cost me more for. A cooler then
Hey i am wondering if this motherboard https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813119289?Item=N82E16813119289 works with https://www.newegg.com/asus-pce-ax58bt-pci-express/p/N82E16833320394?Item=N82E16833320394
Yes Lmao
i donât really know much about intel mobos and whatnot but i donât see why it wouldnât
true
For what reason @rigid ibex
Because it does not come with wifi @mortal rampart
^^

If you want the fancy lights, but a smaller price, and a little more noise, you can go on amazon and just look up "3-5 pack 120mm RGB fans" and they're like $30
uphere has a good 5 pack
i use an UpHere 5 pack
