Huh
Battlefield 5, call of duty modern Warfare, control, deliver us the moon, Justice online, JX3, MechWarrior 5 mercenaries, metro Exodus, Minecraft, quake 2 RTX, Shadow of the tomb raider, Wolfenstein youngblood, atomic hard, boundary, Bright memory infinite, convolaria, cyberpunk 2077, Doom eternal, dying light 2, enlisted, f. I. S. T., Project DH, project X, ring of Elysium, synced off planet, vampire The masquerade bloodlines 2, watch dogs legion, xuan yuan sword vii,
So it looks like mostly FPS
Wait enlisted has rtx?
Huh
I mean
Not much of that is fps lol
Bf5 and cod is fps
Metro is sort of, but it's third
A lot of them are shooters is what I meant Not necessarily first person
bruh cp 2077 gonna run at like 3 fps with rtx on
Hahaha
rdr2 with rtx
Ghost of tsushima looks good
So 2/14 fps :p
A nuclear nachos, play the king of the hill intro while you're using theatrical mode on red Dead redemption 2
Is the ASUS GeForce RTX 2078 g Evo turbo edition GDDR6 HDMI DP 1.4 graphics card Worth its $700 price tag
2070 8g*
no
you can get a 2080 super for 700
2070 non-super is worth about 400$
Just looking around on Amazon right now
Newegg :D
Hei made a list for ya
got a question, on a new build not getting a picture on monitor ..help
Many possible issues
Mr I saw the list but I was just concerned about the AORUS motherboard since I haven't heard much about em
everything lights up fans ect but no vidio
@zealous epoch is the display cable plugged into the GPU or motherboard
Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard
Is what Hei posted. I'm looking at a B450 Tomahawk. Much difference?
GPU tried both ways
Tomahawk max sorry
Check your preferences
That's the best board for the price right now
Tuf b450m pro
Nice
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PW8dWb
Was the list
I think I'd replace the Seagate myself with Western digital because that's my preference but it does look nice
@zealous epoch any debug LEDs?
no
@onyx whale Seagate barracuda 2tb is the best bang for your buck right now
beeping?
no
Many people here own it, including me, no issues so far.
Thanks for all of the quick help I appreciate it very much
try resetting cmos?
Dont know if im in the right spot im trying to update my motherboard bios and im having a hard time
only thing not done is windows on hardrive
@humble cairn go ahead
I have an asrock 370x sli/ac i bought an older cpu so that i could update it
Okay
it was booting fine letting me into windows then it restarted and wont post
So how did you update bios
..okay so you just built it?
yes
huh
Urg. That ASUS board is micro ATX, I'm looking to get the full bang for my buck on the motherboard. I don't mind spending a little extra for a full ATX board. Suggestions? @stoic island
mATX loses little to no features
Hm. Interesting.
If I think about it from a different perspective, it might even save on the PSU right?
best buget monitor
Reason: Bad word usage
my mobo is sold out
its 60 dollars more on amazon than on neweegg
and its sold out on newegg
is B&H reliable
yes
cool bc its available used and cheap on B&H
dont know about y'all but looking in #build-pics makes me feel poor
Hehe yea
dont look
is it worth getting a 2060 instead of a 1660 with a ryzen 5 3600
If you have the budget for it, yes
price difference is like 60 dollars right? or how much is it
basing this off newegg
around $150
hey guys, ive got phanteks RGB strip installed on my B450 M pro board and cant seem to get it to do anything besides RED, and flash and stuff.. I had the Mystic light installed and the dragon center but nothing is owrking
👀
@foggy hazel my man got anything? @stoic island ? you guys were very helpful in setting this up but now im at a dead end
I think that might be all the settings
wha
what board exactly?
@glass swift phanteks RGB strip responds to phanteks software
so will i need the hub?
shoundn't
ok, ill check
use whatever phanteks software they have
tbh i cant find it anywhere @stoic island not even on phnateks site
can you link whatever rgb strip you bought?
hmm does it show up in mystic lights?
it shows MB, and no settings, so yes, but i can only change the speed, no colors come up
im plugged correctly into 12v 3 pin adaptor,
Is it possible to order just the side glass panel for a case?
If so how do I get the correct one?
Is it possible to order just the side glass panel for a case?
@zinc beacon
you may have to contact the manufacturer directly, or just search amazon contact a seller perhaps
of the full case ask for the componant
I have a question. Whats everyones opinion on the 1660 super? I'm thinking about buying it, but dunno if its any good :/
Right.
and some 1440p high/ultra
Do you know what its like with rendering?
what kind?
if you mean gaming, I just told you
content creation?
^
Im no good with words :/
afaik it depends a lot on what program you use, with different cards performing differently
if you were talking about streaming you could encode the stream with the GPU
Yeah, thats true
@delicate cipher what program do you use?
pretty sure those are more CPU intensive
yeah, gpu use for that would be to accelerate it
Yeah.
usually cpus are better at those things, unless you are willing to spend a lot on a gpu or already have a high end gpu
yeah, i get that.
I mean, im looking at a Ryzen 7 2700x
with i think is 8-16 cores to threads.
2700x is pretty good for rendering for the price
Okay.
a pretty good CPU, runs a little hot and is a little power hungry, but good if it's what you can afford
no problem, good luck with your build, I know it kinda sucks atm to buy some of the parts
Yeah, with like, no money and my jobs temp closed, so 🤷♂️
The build im going for is costing about £1.300 all together, so, lets goo
Hey there. Completely new to PC gaming, and am looking to build a pc for around $800.00 usd. Any advice?
Whys that?
Corona hiking prices up and making things go out of stock
Plus new components are being released later this year
Nice. Well now I'll just have to fight the peer pressure of buying one with my buddies lol. Thanks for the heads up!
Your gonna make your buddies jealous when you have the next gen stuff because you didn't impulsively buy
yeah dont be like me
I just impulsively bought $450 worth of audiophile stuff just to spite someone
jk not spite
Lol I;ve got the finger on the checkout hahaaha
Wow, that looks sick. What waterblock is that
Lol, never would have guessed
hydrocopper
It's a pain to install well as an aftermarket part tbh - wish I went with an alternative.
I need to toss out the thermal pads for memory/vrm that came with the block, and sand down the standoff posts ~.2mm or so to get correct mounting pressure on the GPU die.
Currently seeing 60C load - should be right around 40 at the same 300w or so load.
@idle solar
Most things are either price jacked or out of stock, but if you keep an eye out for Amazon warehouse deals and on eBay you can still get a bargain. I've probably saved like 1.2k on my build
That block looks sick tho
Question can the extra 4 pin to second GPU be used to power the 4 pin to MOBO?
Nope
thanks, i told him no
Has anybody heard good things about the Asus MG28UQ monitor?
And do I need a particular mobo/gpu/anything to support FreeSync
I know I know, peripheral. Just realized wrong spot
Sorry, I looked around myself and it appears to be a G-Force technology
any monitor with a DP should support freesync
freesync uses the Adpative Sync standard that's built into DP
Nice. Good to know. So a 2080s will do the trick!
Looking at viotek ViewSonic AOC and asus
well 2080s uses GSync and you need to get a specific GSynce compatable monitor
Freesync is for AMD
AMD video cards? Or AMD Processors?
Could I use Ryzen 7 with a G-Sync? Or free sync? Is it depending on the motherboard
GPU rather
the cpu wont affect it, but im pretty sure Nvidia GPUS support freesync now, don't they? I've never used it so im not sure. I know they work better with G-sync
it looks like only certain freesync monitors support it so im unsure 🤷♂️
Hello right now my pc's specs are i5 9400f Asrock b360 pro 4 and a Gtx 1660 Ti but i'm not sure what to upgrade first.
AMD GPUs and APUs use Freesync
yes
if you are using a Ryzen CPU with an NVIDIA GPU you use a Gsync compatible monitor
if you use any sort of AMD GPU then you can use any monitor with DP
I have a intel cpu and a nvidia gpu but my monitor has freesync and gsync
well yea, anything with DP can Freesync, even Gsync compatible monitor
can someone help me. i built my computer but it won't boot. everything comes on all the fans and lights but when I plug it up just nothing on the screen
graphics card is powered
What's the point in having 2 graphics cards?
The monitor says that it's meant from freesync but on the gpu settings i can make it gsyn
I legitimately don't know
are you plugging the monitor into the GPU or the MB?
So if I have a amd gpu but a gsync monitor can I still use freesync?
@eager chasm
Sry that was supposed to be one message
yes
Ok cool
if it has DP
Added this to the pins in #old-monitors-and-tv https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YI0RQcymJSY0-LkbjSRGswWpJzVRuK_4zMvphRbh19k/edit#gid=1455257716

I've been looking to the answer to that for a while lol
Freesync just uses the built in adaptive sync of the DP standard
If you have 2 gpu both work together 50% and you get better results for what ever you're trying to do
Interesting, thx ryoku
SLI isn't ideal for most users, more trouble than it's worth
but multiple GPUs doesn't scale the same, you only get a minor performance boost with multiple GPUs
wait am i suppose to plug the monitor ibto the graphics card
yes
You plug the monitor into the gpu but if you dont have a gpu and run on integrated graphics you connect it into the motherboard
i mean i have a ryzen 5 1600 and the a 570 graphics card
I thought I was suppose to output display by the I/o on the back of the motherboard
do i need to run anything besides mouse and keyboard from the back of the motherboard?
Internet Ethernet if you don't have wifi
The back of my computer is a mess of cables
ah so all those ports would be for if i had an integrated graphics
Only the video port
The USBs are for whatever you want
The audio ports for your headset if you have one
Or speakers
the PS/2 port (if you have one) is for special kinds of mice and keyboards, you can see my purple dongle, that uses PS/2
so does you computer display stuff now?

wish i came here first rather than spending 3 hours about to punch a whole in the wall
i will day in just one second. i had to find my hdmi to dvi cable
Simple mistake for first timers, it's a stupid question to ask anyone who's been around a while, but it's always the best thing to ask first

your monitor doesn't have HDMI?
Guys if i bought a pc

can they ship it to palestine
from newegg?
hmmm depends on your customs department but I'd try ordering from a nearby middle east nation with Newegg
@eager chasm i have display now
sorry I don't know much about Newegg's policies for shipping or your nation's policies on customs and electronics
@latent ridge grats
your monitor doesn't have HDMI?
yes my motherboard has HDMI
MONITOR
oh oh no
RIP
it only has vga and dvi
old monitor is old XD
So is an upgrade from an Intel i-535 70K with an Asus P8Z77V-PRO to a Ryzen 7 with a B450 tomahawk much of an upgrade? It looks around double to almost triple the speed
I just want to be sure I'm spending $1,600 well
its from an old set up my family had when i was 11. im 24 now
i can't tell what CPU you typed @onyx whale can you screen capture your Task Manager?
all monitors around me are sold out
now it's saying reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key
have you installed windows yet?
no boot menu
no i just turned it on
this will sound so stupid but am i suppose to insert the Windows USB first
yes
like I plugged every thing in and pushed the power button and it gave that message. thats as far as I got
so i need to turn it off and insert the usb then turn it back on. can i use the front panel for that
you can but it's a bit better to use the rear panel
you select the USB as your boot device if it isn't automatically detected as such
then install windows to your best drive
I must have had a bad CPU fan in my optiplex 9010. Because replacing the stock fan with a literally taped on fan is getting me 20 degrees better temps
found your problem, it's an Optiplex

they aren't exactly built with performance, or good cooling in mind
Yeah lol, it's not my primary computer
reeeeeeee
I have an awesome build that is almost done and a speced out legion y740
This is for a Minecraft server, just needs a decent CPU and ram
Speaking of which, recommendations for a 32gb 1833mhz ram kit? Don't need to have rgb or anything
Would anyone be willing to help me diagnose why my computer won't turn on?
Only my motherboard RGB lights come on.
I can't figure it out.
Sure. Can you get into bios?
As in, do you see the motherboard manufacturer on your screen
id your Monitor plugged into your GPU or Motherboard?
did it work before?
literally got to ask the basics cause they work occasionally, like just 20 min ago
I can't see anything but the RGB on the board.
It doesn't start.
24pin
8pin
4pin
Plugged in and seated properly.
lol just call me out
Cpu seated and plugged in properly
Graphics card plugged in properly. 8pin power in that too.
Maybe its your monitor kap
Bad Mobo? Or bad ram? Or monitor...
I sent this same kind of motherboard back already for the same reason. I want to take another crack at it with the new one. Same model.
so nothing turns on, not even the fans?
Nothing but the RGb on the board.
Ok is your front panel plugged it, and plugged in correctly?
I can't even do the screwdriver trick to jump it.
Ah
I'd try a dif monitor and ram, then figure it's the mobo
I don't have different ram to try. I have 4 sticks though.
Why monitor when nothing starts?
Idk. Would a bad CPU prevent the bios from loading?
Try two at a time
Oh, NVM, forgot the monitor
I'm really defeated about it.
I hoped the new mobo would solve why it's not starting.
nothing is turning on, not even fan spin, monitor isn't the issue
this is getting pretty spesific now
and starting to sound like a bad/fried board or CPU
if EVERYTHING is plugged in and there is no fan spin then that's serrious
have you tried checking your system for bent pins? or just reseating the CPU?
Do me a favor
Help me make sure I'm fully compatible
ASUS AMD AM4 ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX Motherboard with PCIe 4.0, WiFi 6, 2.5Gbps LAN, Dual M.2, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.2 Gen 2
AMD RYZEN 7 3800X 8-Core 3.9 GHz (4.5 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 105W 100-100000025BOX Desktop Processor
G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin RGB DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC
all good
well have you tried checking your system for bent pins? or just reseating the CPU?
Not gonna lie to you.
When I had to remove my cpu on the first board. I had a little bend on one of them but it bent it back.
At that point the board already wasn't starting and the bend didn't occur until after it wasn't starting. (removing the other parts)
The damn clamps wouldn't come off without a fight. 😩
I had trouble removing my Prism the other day lol
I have a quick question for getting a laptop for the best price and quality
If I have a budget of 2,300 what would be my best choices
Why a laptop and not a pc
I went to razer and they had charges that was unexpected so I wanted to try something different
So yea, taco, what you are describing is somethign wrong with the CPU or MB itself, definitely check the CPU and try to reseat
dude, IT'S NOT WORKING
I KNOW THAT'S WHY I'M HERE 😭
you HAVE to check or throw it away
you're here and now I'm telling you what needs to happen
sorry potato, just a moment
@modern dune I want something that I can play and do my school since I will be working on going to college and able to move it easly
so that answers my first question," Does it NEED to be a laptop", yes, it does.
I'll start checking around
just asking cause you can get way more value out of it NOT being a laptop, but for students the value is in the portability
Yeah I get it
Im trying to help my friend, but they are set on laptops im not into laptops and have less knowledge for affordable laptops then for desktops
LMAO... $2000 laptop, GTX 1050.... that needs to be SHOT
Dam dude seems like a rip off I could think of many other gpu's better then that for more affordable prices
Technically would it need to be smaller for a laptop?
so far best value, this has a 2080 and an 8th gen i7
https://www.newegg.com/metallic-black-asus-rog-zephyrus-s-gx531gx-xs74-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834235134?Item=N82E16834235134&quicklink=true
last I checked the difference between a mobile 2060 and mobile 2080 werent that much
So might as well get Zepherus 15
or whatever it is
One more question though, I have stock cpu cooler for my omen obelisk, not my choice for pre built, but I was wondering what would be a good air cpu cooler for prob 50 - 100 ish
best value on Newegg for the high-end laptops (imo), $2100 with a 2080 and a 9th Gen i7, 16GB RAM , 1TB NVMe, 144Hz
https://www.newegg.com/black-eluktronics-eluktro-pro-x-mech-17-g1rx-gaming-entertainment/p/2WC-000M-00168?Item=9SIA8S1APD9519&quicklink=true
not much else has the complete package with no compromises for a bit less
it also appears to have nice large cooling vents
link?
I don't like paying that much for laptop
feels like the more u pay, the more u lose
only 2070 tho
mobile 2070 to 2080 are basically the same
Sometimes the 2070 even wins depending on cooling
dumb question: how come the plus level doesn't determine quality of a psu?
doesn't higher efficiency require better components?
OK, yea, that laptop config is actually REALLY good value to compared to 99% of the crap listed elsewhere

I saw on the tier list the CX line from corsair is rated higher than the HGE from fsp
With the specific review Linus did, laptop was only $300 more then a desktop with a monitor and such
and cx is bronze while hge is gold
1050 in a $2000 laptop still needs to be shot in the face

need to be here a while before you can post links my dude
doesn't take long
hey i have 2500 dollars any suggestions for a good build?
@here
you cant @here or @everyone :D
welcome blank name, allow me to backseat Mod and point you to #rules

but yes, there are MANY things you can do with $2500
fun recommendation would be a Ryzen 7 and a 2080 build
just go intel lol
intel is a waste of money and doesn't perform as well if you do any kind of streaming or video rendering for youtube/twitch, also probably a good idea to wait a bit for the new stuff to be announced/released, this next gen is looking to be a massive leap
except for intel, they are looking to be HOT and throttled

I wonder if you could use userID
to do the @supple steppe thing
@hollow edge
I got it
lmao
so he's still here
user ID works haha
good to know
right click mentioning doesn't work
nope lol
lol
nice try, read #rules
the everyone and here don't work
deal with it

they can still see who pinged them in the logs
lol
you're not very smart
still can see deleted message time
and ping time
¯_(ツ)_/¯
doesn't need to see if it was a ping
you don't know how the logs work, do you? lol
oh yea what logs does the server have
bc @still roost logs edited message iirc
or dyno
one of the two
they can see you editing and deleting in the logs lol
What is with this guy?
you don't even know what a log is, do you kid?
@celest horizon If you'd please come here for a second

thanks Theo
🙂 ty
Sorry forks for the ping ❤️
Not sure if desperate cry for attention or under the influence of somthing
prob just a 10 y/o attention thotting
alt?
@coarse coral he's back
Well, I found out I know somebody who has Amazon Prime.... so if a decent deal on a monitor pops up over there I can get free shipping.

Step right up and I'll try to fix your stupid issues jk jk, love you all
Man, I hope things start stabilizing next month. I really would like to build my new PC this summer

Which one is better ?
covid-19 wont magically disappear, so stabilization is not likely
@cold sorrel wym rn isn’t the time to build a pc ?
nope
How come
I do have my case arriving tomorrow, but that was a deal I couldn't pass up. I'm waiting on everything else.
I was about to start ordering stuff
rising prices, shortages (especially PSUs), and the next gen is coming soon with supposedly a massive leap in power (except for Intel, who chose to burn HOT lol)
Covid-19 has made building a PC slightly over priced atm
it could be worth it to wait a bit unless you REALLY need a computer
What are parts you think are getting over priced rn and I should order
You best order everything at the same time
PSUs are already over priced at like 80-100% over regular or just plain out of stock
Who knows when prices will clear up
MBs are rising a bit, RAM has been rising
3 months ago was the best time to build
But most OOS
I was trying to find a guy x570 board with rgb today
Best I could find was a 350$ back ordered board
there're exceptions
b450 and x470
they're going down
thanks to amd latest announcement
Which one would y’all recommend
retailers in my place are selling them as fast as they can
imo both would work fine
Huh
I think I'll skip this generation and the next
Not online yet
havent' seen anything unusual with the 2nd hand market
The amd ryzen 3300x preorder sold out on amazon 😦
@eager chasm I'll grab new Mobo and new ram for Am5, u?
maybe because b550 hasn't been released yet
What’s mobo
I'll also settle down with a max board and zen 2
my build will last 3 generations easily
finger crossed amd will support 4000
I don't need to be bleeding edge every gen
yeah
I'll probably hop back in for 6th gen Ryzen and see where the NVIDIA/AMD battle has landed at that time
also first gen of new nodes seems to be unstable nearly all the time
I plan to get a b550 motherboard.
by the time 6th Gen Ryzen is out Intel will have either pulled it act together or have completely imploded on performance

What’s a mobo lol
intel has their back against the wall now
Motherboard = mobo
need RGB help, is anyone here good with that stuff? Specs aren't a struggle it's literally JUST RGB stuff I need help with, as well as potentially what to look for in a mobo
it's mainly external lighting like backglow
i just need help with selecting LED strips for monitors/behind a desk and to sync it to something like Aura, iCUE, or Chroma
jacknetrgb
that's the big factor in what peripherals im getting
im a pathetic human
are the hooked up through USB, or to the MB with extensions?
I'm looking for options; not purchased any
OOOOOH
Working on a list to purchase and idk where to start
Which is why I'm asking for help, so I don't buy 36 feet of RGB and use only 4 of it and make 32 of it unusable
lol
hmmm External lights are a bit trickier to get to sync with your system
I have like 5 different light management tools
I saw Razer has decent stuff for it but its hella pricey and idk if its proprietary
preferring its not proprietary in this scenario
and let's say I don't go to sync with my system- where to look? I still don't want to buy a ton of leds just to use a wee bit of it
would you consider a RGB controller powered by USB with a remote? it's on the lower-end and wont sync but you can change the general color
I would definitely; likelihood is it will stay red. RGB is just a nice feature I got in mind as its a more universal term
different way to do it is to use your MB and pass an extention out the back and use a USB powered HUB with Sync
Amazon lists the desk dimensions as 51 x 23.43 x 35.8 inches
why was i pinged here?

seems leg
he was banned, twice
oh nice
but yeah I need about 51 inches and a way to control the color, or have it stagnant red
willing to go down to 4 feet as that is a less over-specific measurement
if you're willing to go used on the GPU, you can find better gpus for around that price point
@little osprey ram psu
and yeah the PSU; I have one of those, but it's nothing special
spam pinged again?
Think 1650s is actually at a pretty good spot
What better GPUs are at that range?
yes taku
Used* @stoic island
whats wrong with the ram
did you ever look in the bios?
@eager chasm thanks a lot for your help. my pc is up and running
Lmao I tried a ton of things
@hushed pollen here you go, Mostly controllable RGB powered by USB
https://www.amazon.com/ALITOVE-Controller-Individually-Addressable-Programmable/dp/B07GJ5FDCD/ref=sxbs_sxwds-stvp
@little osprey look for low latency RAM
@hushed pollen used you can't compete with, bit new that's a pretty good one
@latent ridge grats
or if you want it "cheaper" higher latency
but latency makes it better
if it's low
so that ram isnt good
16 isn't really high if it's 16gb
@eager chasm will look ty senor 🙏
but if it's an 8 gb stick 12 is nice
seen the reviews people say it works fine

@stoic island mhm, I mentioned that if one is willing to get a used GPU, prices are pretty good. Most of the time used GPUs arent a big issue other than warranties
and slower clock speeds due to wear
eBay does have good buyers protection but I don't like reccomending it
my current gpu, RX 480 8gb, was bought off of ebay for $90 in around January.
I mean
good stuff
580 are usually 100$ now
yeah ik
what would be a good used gpu over the 1650 s
I can do the bios to be a 580 ez
but that's too much work for the bottleneck i got
stuck with a R3 2200G
If you want to do used just look around on eBay lmao
yeah
yeah but which card would be better than that
Buying a Ryzen 5 3600x/X570 mobo with my upcoming paycheck, so that'll not be an issue
@little osprey better than what
1650s
the 1650 Super is an aight card for the price. If you're willing to go used, you could maybe find slightly better cards.
A lot of people don't recommend it, but Userbenchmark is pretty good for general overviews.
Use passmark lmao
Ub just got a bad rep
enlighten me
zix.. what's your budget?
Think it was 800
600 or so
Nvm
lol
it's $700
but pretty darn good for a starter
can just add ram later
@eager chasm Yo, do you know what a good place for about 4 feet of leds would be? i really don't want to buy 16 feet on amazon and chop off 12 of it.
ops ?
1660 isn't worth over new 1650s imo
^
oh lol
ti is better than super
Yea 1660 super and ti is what you should look for
ti is barely better, super usually better pricing.
@little osprey I'd recommend compromising on the RAM and a few other things
so, I'm running on about $400 per paycheck; what are your guys's thoughts on a 2070 Super being in my budget?
Should I aim for better?
My build will have a R5 3600x or 3600 and a X570 mobo
RTX isn't much better than 10 series
and 30 series might be out before you know it
wym reaper
I know but I'm impatient man
buy 8gb and get the better graphics card
then later when you have money buy the other stick
RX 480 8gb and Ryzen 3 2200g is my current build, with one channel of 2666mhz 8gb patriot ram
yeah
but most games are designed around older hardware
so buying an RTX card will not show unless you play BRAND new AAA games
wdym man, ray tracing original DOOM exists
lol
Well raw perf in older games like GTA still shows
🤝
Dx11
RTX out performs in newer DX12, but not many DX11 games
can you not afford the GTX 1650?
i could
could you buy the EVGA 1650 if they make one
i think they do buy backs for upgrades
I remember rtx series beating 10 series in dx11 too
Oh yea EVGA b stock
Forgot about that
u got the link
Check EVGA b stock
does anyone here know anything about cutting LED strips, and somehow using what was cut off?
if it's a standard LED strip
I can't find 4 feet LEDs for a decent price and I don't want to chop off 12 feet from a 16 ft roll without being able to use it
it'll have cut points
yeah but what do those mean
like what do I do with the rest now that it's cut, etc
or give it to someone that wants it
nonono like
oh
ok so I'm gonna buy a 16 ft roll, right?
you mean daisy chain
i don't see why it wouldn't work
for back glow
but after so many feet it'll start to dim
wdym run the desk separate
put led for the trim
and then another section for the location of the PC
if you were going to light up around the PC
so you'd end up with 2 wall outlets
or usb plugs
whichever you wire it to
Ohhhhhhh i see what you mean
What I'm doing tho is monitor backs as LED, and then desk; the pc itself will have its own leds internally
ik how to do internal stuff
I just cant figure out external stuff
itd be easier if i had some physically and could test w it
then just buy a splitter and you'd only use one physical wall outlet/usb and then power the whole thing
does your monitor have USB?
could just run USB then
like that
i dont know because i plan on replacing monitors
and yeah; but the reason i hesitate with that one is bc they want $22 for one monitor led
that's because it's already setup
tru
i could do it myself, i just need the knowledge for it
the handiwork like soldering and whatnot isn't what i need
@versed pewter GTA V is dx11,
https://www.gamersnexus.net/images/media/2019/GPUs/780ti/gta-v-1080p_780-ti-benchmark-2019.png
Seems like a good performance increase from 20 series to 10 series
not really
3 FPS
isn't much
the other ones are overclocked versions
the FPS is only higher because of the fact that the RTX cores are rendering the distance for the rest of the card
Ti to ti 13fps
so you don't get that white or blank floor
wdym
if you include the hardware in the graphics cards
Eh
the 2080ti has a ton more cuda cores than the 2080
It does
the supers do too
Also same vram as 1080 ti
cuda cores mean everything
If they crammed more in, that's better in my books :p
if i take 2 1080ti's vs one 2080ti and they were properly connected and used 100% of both 1080ti's
it'd beat a 2080ti by 50%+
because i have more cuda cores
Yes
but because sli only uses 30% or so of the card
But that's like just talking transistor count, the more you can cram in, the better.
i'm running 2 1080ti's right now and i am only slightly better than a 2080ti
cuda cores do all the processing
everything
guys
2060 KO vs 2070 Super; which should I go?
Unless I didn't understand what this was about?
which has more cuda cores?
And I might look into used 1080 TIs instead
i'm saying buy a 10 series if you can get it half or 75% of the price of a 20 series
once the 30 series come out
3080ti or bust
the 20 might drop
Thought we were talking just comparing perf from one generation to another
idk
1080ti should be <500 now :p
thunder shipping!???!??!??
Wait
it should tbh
I remember 1080ti at the same perf as about a 2070s
so i might do 2070s just bc its cheaper than the used 1080 ti for slightly better perf
scroll down
one sec
Yea alright looks like super slightly beats it
In gaming FPS situations I was seeing 2070 Super beating the 1080 TI on youtube and userbench
Ew user bench
pascal is basically beyond the point where nvidia will attempt to tweak the drivers for improvement. turing is still getting improvements from drivers. some of those will also improve pascal, but we are finally starting to see some games where turing is starting to move appreciably beyond pascal cards.
rdr2 really shows the turing cards moving ahead of their pascal counterparts
mine use to be so much better
I need a new pc even though it's only 1.5 years old
maybe 2
and 3dmark is almost perfect scaling for sli and crossfire
https://www.3dmark.com/spy/10158159
single 2080 and 2700x
jesus

450 for a 1080ti
is it hard to overclock ?
you just need to know what youre doing
if you want to get started, check out the pins in the channel #overclocking
it takes a lot of trial and error, so have patience
Zack, you still on? I posted a couple messages in VR thread
Hey guys, so back in January I bought a pc for $300. It came with the pc, monitor and a keyboard and mouse. I originally wanted to build a computer that was $1100, but I wanted to save money. My current specs are (FX-4300, 1050 Ti, 8gb ddr3, gigabyte ga-78lmt-s2, and a cheap 350w psu.) it is an old cyber power. So my plan is to buy a r5 3600x for $199, a asus tuff b450 atx motherboard for $107, G skill rgb ram (16 gb 3600), and a EVGA 450 psu. Thoughts?
@sharp viper what u wanna do with it?
Game, some school work and if it’s possible stream
But streaming isn’t a big deal at all and won’t decide parts
Dont know if that gpu will be able to stream game at the same time with good frames
Might wamt to get a more upgradeable psu for future if you upgrade
True
But currently I have a no name psu and my budget is around $450 for upgrades
And it all comes to 391 so I might look into a better one
I take that back. It comes to $458
1050ti is garbage. Why did u even spend the 300? Shoulda just put that together with the 450 and got or built a decent gaming computer.
if on a budget, why 3600x?
why 3600 ram?
you can shave some cash off those and go for a better psu
Wouldn't be much cash to save for the ram. Wouldn't go any lower then 3600x....
He could do 3200 ram.. would save maybe 20-25$.
it makes no sense to buy a 3600x "on budget"
some cash to spare, go for it, or just get a capable cooler
but when you don't have enough money, you don't have room for those kind of expense
200mhz doesn't grant you anything significant
a few more cinebench points
1 - 10 fps in games
The problem was he literally screwed himself buying a 300$ computer
all at the cost of $20
He's literally going to use nothing in that computer. For 750 coulda got a 1660 build. Maybe even TI
Anybody know how to decrease input lag(controller-pc)
increase framerate.. get lower response monitor.
I run 300+ fps on a 240 hz 1ms monitor
I went with a 1440p 165Hz monitor, but there is sometimes I wish I went with 1080p 240Hz instead.
why?
Dumb build questions
Is there obvious advantage in the long run in buying high end psu, for example, buying a rm650 instead of a cv or cx 650? Like the longevity and stuff?
buy for the warranty you want
Nice answer
Thank you
@foggy hazel what did you mean by that
sticking the PCie power together so it looks like the 24 pin?
oh, making them even?
aye, i normally "touch" them with a bit of glue or something so they resist jostles
@austere condor can i have a part picker list on that $275 gaming pc? I have a pretty low budget but I'm trying to get into pc gaming
oh ok
thanks anyways
do any good $300 brebuilts exist? XD ive been looking and ive found a few but they all direct me to something else or say they arent in stock or not available
ask demonmit
@austere condor
sorry to bother u but do u have an answer to the question i am asking
@austere condor what case do you have?
lol ok
😂
ngl i dont really like the case
feels excessive to me. but if you like it then go for it
im just wondering, i dont need a vase
"looks goofy"
- @sudden turret 2020
So at the time $300 is all I was willing to spend
And so far it’s not actually bad. It runs every game that I play with my friends, but I want something that will get better framerates
@austere condor since I can’t ask in build pics, what power supply are you using in that build you posted recently?
Is it a decent unit?
Looks like it’s from a weird brand
@cloud drum, it's all relative to the time of the build. Are you purchasing parts in one fell swoop, or will you been hunting for good deals?
Also, what kind of computer would they like? A gaming computer?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/M9whZf
Can someone recommend me a good fan or if I should have more than just my current cpu fan and stock fan that came with my case? Just curious if adding another fan or two would be beneficial. Also would prefer black for the fan if it is recommended.
you dont need more than stock :P
haha alright thanks again then, was just curious after seeing some builds with ton which to me seemed excessive
But otherwise would installing some top side fans be beneficial due to getting rid of hot air due to it rising?
So something like this would be a good buy?
okay you can fit 3x140mm on top if you wanted
On the page it says 2x140mm though
I7-9700k can run hot, the only way I would keep the stock fan is if I had a lot of intakes/outtake fans
oh lmao
@lofty sequoia your list has a different case
this was the case in your list
https://www.newegg.com/black-phanteks-enthoo-pro-atx-full-tower/p/N82E16811854003?
hey
Hey
Did Newegg just delete a link, to Newegg
Oh @stoic island Yes you are right I dont recall putting that on the list, I think I grabbed someones list they recommended for me
Does this look like something any of you would spend money on if you had a little under 1600 to build?
This is the current case
Idgi, but if you need a cpu cooler the pure rock 2 is a nice cooler for ~$40
Ooh, Kappa you have the same case I bought. (Which is supposed to be delivered today.)
@stoic island I see the issue, the phanteks case I bought isnt available on pcparts.com it seems
ah
Do I need to buy another cooler if I get a 3600x processor
@cold sorrel Can confirm its a nice case so enjoy it!
R5
I was told that I might need to get another cooling fan for my processor if I got the 3600X as opposed to the 3600
@onyx whale the stock cooler is good enough for the 3600x just don’t expect crazy OCing
I only want to be able to play games in 4K at like 80 FPS
Then I'm going to be getting a new monitor, 120 hz but I don't know what's good these days
Then I’m sure the stock cooler would be plenty fine for that cpu
@stoic island But that corsair I listed was a twin pack, is it a good fan for top exhaust?
If I were to get a noctua they also have smaller fans.
uhh
I don’t know much about monitors but I heard that LG and Samsung makes some good ones
just expensive
My case comes with an assload of pre installed fans
Corsair 400r
The only reason it's not listed on that parts list is because it's going for $400 on Amazon when I bought it for $80 on Black Friday 5 years ago
Anyone use wifi 6 mesh yet?
I'm looking into Netgear Orbi and the Google one, but I'd like to hear from someone I know or someone who has used them personally
