Reason: Bad word usage
thats silly
9900k
oh the 9900k would be an upgrade
but dont go from a 8700k to a 9700k
I want to go all out on this pc
i say just use that system until its old
I want to have a showroom pc
then get a ryzen build
I have 3 triple rads and 12 rgb fans and 32 gb 3600mhz ram. And taking my 1080tk from old system and getting a 9900k possibly
personally I would upgrade the ram and board and keep the 8700k maybe get it delided
slightly bias because my two main PCs have 8700k's and I cant see a good reason to upgrade
how high can that 8700k overclock?
I have mine at 4.7 but I only have a single rad aio
280mm?
140
ah ok
I think you should keep the 8700k get some tridentz rgb ram a new motherboard and make a custom hard tube loop with 2 480mm rads and a res. If you skip the cpu think how much more money you could spend on cooling and other things
I like how the Ryzen 3000 series basically comes auto-overclocked with it's insane infinite boosting
new case too
well really only need 1 if not cooling gpu and even then still probably ok
I’m cooling both
Water block will be here tomorrow
I think I got too small of tubing
I just use EKs site to make sure everything matches
hmm flexable or hard tubing?
Flex
at least thats cheap if you do need to change it
see how it fits into a fitting
ah
For how much liquid will be in my system
well more flow this way
And I feel my flow rate will be more slow
depends on the pump only need to be around 0.75 gallons per minute
Well I have the hydro line from corsair
Except
The gpu
Because that line uses rtx
But everything else is hydro series
I dont really understand what that means
Sec I’ll post
rtx is ray tracing on nvidia cards
CORSAIR Hydro X Series features every part you’ll need to make a custom liquid cooled PC. Create a full list of parts to make your own custom water cooling kit with CORSAIR’s online configurator.
this
i have all of the parts except
the gpu block for that series
because im using 1080ti
and that series is new for rtx cards
but i have that pump
and
socket cooler
with rads
ok you should be ok I have never used corsairs custom loop products
plus the soft is a smaller diameter on the inside of the tube than the hard tubing anyway so I'm sure corsair has acounted for that
Hey just a quick question about fans, I’m building a pc right now and the exhaust fan has three holes on the cord and the system fan place on the motherboard has four prongs, any help?
Ah okay thank you!
3 pin is DC only, and while it can plug into a 4 pin, the 3 pin DC fand plugged into a 4 pin will likely be locked at 100% speed
That’s fine with me, turns out the case I bought was an oven
ah well if you dont mind the noise, that might be better anyway. what case do you have?
Masterbox q300l I believe
yea ive heard about bad thermals in that. like i said if you dont mind the noise itll be fine
all my case fans are cheap 3 pin fans XD
I bought a pack of 3 Corsair fans for it though
(I mean what manufacturer want to spend extra monie for no reason)
True
4 packs of Rosewill fans are the cheapest of the cheap fans, but still work well enough for most air cool systems
i found some 4 pin corsair fans but i dont remember what model they are
Probably the ll120 or ll140
theyre 12s so i think thats what they are. i bought them almost 2 years ago lol
120s*
i got a extra fan now... cause I didn't like the fan that came with my case at all
it's a pretty nice fan... but it's static RED LEDs
i have 2 whites in front and 2 red on top. i kinda like the look of static colors no lie
I do too, but I like to have RGB to say what static color I want XD
xD thats fair haha. i just wish my ram would co-operate with my software so i could change the color
try adjusting it in a different software
ive tried all the "compatible" software for it
odd
Which ram?
it worked for the first 2 or 3 days then nothing. it doesnt bother me TOO much but its just the small details lol
trident z
does it matter which way I mount my fan?
wierd
one way is out and one way is in so yes
if you mean rotation, no
top or back is generally an outward fan, and front of the case is generally an inward fan
the side of the fan should have an airflow indicator
ah then usually you aim the fan towards the back
that was my plan
where it can be vented by the rear
I still have to figure out which way to glue it on the cpu
Doesn't matter, the cooler itself isn't directional, only the fans
Hi pple, I am Kem. But whatever my disccord says it's fine. I'm a PC building noob. But I've always wanted to give it a try. Recently my excitement for building my own PC sparked for some reason. I've got a 3,000USD budget. Y'all think that's enough to get a descent set up including the tower, Monitor and peripherals?
yes
you can set yourself up pretty good with 3k
3000 is a really nice setup
I have a really good multi-monitor setup for $3000
'-' i tho it'd be too low
no that's actually on the high side
i got a pretty good setup for right around 1k with just mobo, ram, cpu, gpu and power supply
and its running everything fine
even while streaming
tbh you can prob get 9900k + 2080ti with 3000$
Ah😅 I'm glad
the rest of it including desk and peripherals and desk only brings mine to like 1500 ish give or take
if you are gonna do any streaming or video editing, get a Ryzen CPU, miles ahead in those kinds of things
Oh yea, whats the purpose you want the pc to serve?
I plan to use it for gaming/ school but I will be going into college soon to learn CAD and stuff so like 3D modeling all that
3950 or 3900 what do yall think
as much as I would love to shovel AMD down their throat... I'm going to bed
night all
I'll do your job ryoku, gn.
sadly high end amd GPUs are non-existant so nvidia time
Do I connect my case IO or my psu cables first
IO can be a pain with big hands if you do it last
Well, let me know what you guys think. And what are your recommendations. I am pretty excited about this. Even tho all I know about PCs is basic stuff that I see on vids or stuff.
thats where most of us started lol
the build tutorial vids are good (except for the Verge)
same bud @fossil hedge
I would suggest 2080ti for sure, either a ryzen 3900x or a 3950x
I plan on building myself, also my current Computer is a 2014 Laptop with Intel i-3 idk what gen but pretty big boost
keep doing it
psssshhhh verge tutorial is best tutorial
Oh boy you'll see a huge difference
real shame honestly
everytime i load into tarkov i join the russian mafia lmao
Taku how much storage do you need?
For my case io do I plug my HD audio cable into the F_audio on my motherboard?
Ehh Idk, but I'd say like a Terabyte or so. I don't plan on loading it with stuff
if youre gonna do CAD you might want a mass storage along with a 1tb ssd or NVMe
Also don't need to go full on crazy with RGB. As the main purpose will be to be working on school stuff I don't need to be flashy (maybe a bit of RGB to flex on friends if budget is enough)
oh that budget is more than just "enough" for rgb
thats enough for like RGB everything
RGB is getting a bit cheaper tbh but with the budget you can throw down some RGB BDE
Could I ask for help on where to put these bad boys?
there should be a guide in your mobo book as to what pins they go on
its different each mobo
usually
@inner drift its usually in like bottom right and they're all in like a block
(on the mobo)
I see it now thanks
All I know about PCs is that they look cool and they can go vroom vroom. Jk I know the basics like storage RAM CPU GPU Power Fans Case Mother Board
But I'm looking forward to see what y'all think
cool
hmm might not be able to fit a 2080ti on top of a good monitor
2070S would still be viable
I mean with 3k$ budget Ima see about 2080S
and see if I can fit in a 4k monitor
what I have so far with a 2080ti no monitor
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6yVVWb
(1tb nvme plus 4tb mass storage is what I assume would be wanted)
Oh I forgot to say about peripherals I have a good ish Headset and mouse idk if that could help
Reason: Bad word usage
oh oops, bad habits lmao
I do the same :p
Anyways what do you think rob
and also taku
do you want a 4k 60hz (or 120hz if it fits the budget) monitor or like 1440p high refresh rate
if theres gonna be more than one monitor, id say 1440 with 120-140 hz
I think 1440 will be fine.
Do you have space for multiple large monitors?
because slotting in a 2080S instead of 2080ti would have 800$ left for monitors and other peripherals
We can see about an ultrawide 1440p or maybe 4k
But I could always buy bigger desk
Single monitor would also be easier to setup
you could save a little bit with going with a cheaper case i.e nzxt H510 for 70 bucks
'-' u got me there I'm a noob
(But the RGB flex xD, 800$ left in the budget with a 2080S)
you right you right xD
On a HDD what is that last cable... I don’t seem to have one
too blurry, the sata cable to connect to mobo?
One cable is to connect to PSU one is to mobo
that last connector is irrelevant
Oh okay
sata and data cables are plugged in, the 3rd is a utility port (i think) and is irrelevant
i dont remember what it does, might be for server kinda stuff
@marsh fiber make. it. implode.
lol RGB fleexxxx
I bought it the other day
thats like right on the money
Aight
He doesn't have a keyboard so ima look for a nice mechnical one
you got quick suggestions?
i have the blackwidow on there, nice middleground
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8ZWkJb @stoic island
This is my current list
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9Lp6Dx
I was trying to max out onto the 3k budget with nice things
Sorry if I am not too active rn. I have a french test due and An essay due 11:59
thats pretty much what i thought up, but now life calls. ill check in time to time for input. and i was able to squeeze in some reasonable speakers as well
not sure, personally i like mecha membrane switches (weird i know) so ive stuck with the k55
em seems close enough to k95 so ima stick with that on the list
alright im out for now. until next time fellas
Aight cya
@stoic island G3 isnt that great of a PSU. Switch it out
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZLp6Dx What do you guys think?
also MSI isnt that great on x570
@wild pulsar go 3700x instead of 3800x, change mobo, change RAM, Samsung SSD is overpriced
@stoic island Rocket is better tho
they're at like the same place
it's a whole class above the corsair one for cheaper
if not corsair being better for the warrenty
She’s done!
You don’t like the unify? Which would you suggest.
If you want an NVMe the same as the Corsair then it's like $100 - $110
If you want one that is better, then $120
😂
👀
@wild pulsar It's okay. But you dont need a $300 mobo for your needs
I'm failing to see why the sabrent rocket is better at about the same speeds
Also, that 5700XT is a bit pricy. You might as well get a 2070S
@cursive wharf I agree just wanted to get something more then my needs to try and “future proof”
rn the rocket is only 5$ cheaper at 1tb
@stoic island Controller and cache are a thing
not all about seq read/write
@wild pulsar That board is like built for LN2 3900x
I really doubt you'll go that far
They're both on phison e-12 controllers
The Sabrent Rocket is about 970 Evo Plus level while MP510 is about standard 970 Evo level in perf
??
Here is a decently old image
I'm looking for stats on the mp510 and rocket cache
but so far controller they're on the same one afaik
On the LTT server most people consider the Rocket to be on Evo Plus level, and these arent people that just say random stuff either
There is a sabrent rocket pcie 3.0 running e12 controller, and one sabrent rocket pcie 4.0 running e16 controller
Also of note, that mobo is pretty bad in terms of VRM
you might've confused the two bc I cant find much on sabrent rocket
I kinda just randomly clicked on a mobo lol
One that had wifi
MSI has had a tough time with x570
I'll look at mobos again later
I'm leaving mp510 on for now but I'll change it if the sabrent really is that good
Asus Prime P is a nice and cheap x570. Just get a PCIe 1x add in for wifi as I dont think there are any cheap x570 wifi boards
That or go with a b450/x470 wifi board
If Mobo stands for mother board then theres no need to worry about wifi. I made the company throw a whole connection just for my room :)
Also yee, change out that PSU. The G3 is legit worse then G2
Oh than thats fine
and G2 is a bit above budget
If that's any of what y'all r talking about XD
I changed it out for RMi 1000W for now
oh yee. Think I said that but bad memory here
I'll find the price for like RMi 800W and put it in there
bc 1000w had a price pcpartpicker could find and I was lazy
550w is fine for that build tho
yea I was setting it high bc I was gonna try 3950x and 2080ti at first, but too expensive
650 or 750 will prob do fine
300w GPU + 150w CPU (more like 130w I think) + 70w system
BTW mobo is motherboard taku
I'll look for ones without wifi since you got ethernet
😅 I feel like I'm back in 2nd grade when I see this chat
Whats wrong with MSI boards? this looks fine if MSI is fine, if not I'll do like a ASUS TUF board
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813144262?Description=MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS Gaming Motherboard AMD AM4 SATA 6Gb%2Fs M.2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 HDMI ATX&cm_re=MSI_MPG_X570_GAMING_PLUS_Gaming_Motherboard_AMD_AM4_SATA_6Gb%2Fs_M.2_USB_3.2_Gen_2_HDMI_ATX-_-13-144-262-_-Product
@cursive wharf what’s your thoughts on the crosshair VI HERO?
I need some help with setup... my monitor shows the hdmi is connected but I can’t do anything else.
Yes
x570 Prime P is much better for cheaper
Oh wait I was looking at the wrong one
I can see two
@inner drift is your GPU plugged in?
I thought you said prime pro lol
@cursive wharf I’ll give it a look
@inner drift does the lights have writing next to it?
@wild pulsar Wasnt exactly talking to you
Ahhh 😱 👍🏻
that one x470 or x570? dont remember all the Hero names

Updated : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/L3BCdm
@inner drift This is what I mean btw
Also what are you using it for?
Cuz so far I have this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/D42PFG
Just doing an outline for what @olive kraken could make
He wanted to be able to do any game, and be able to do CAD work, hes upgrading from a laptop
3k$ budget
Also I had a friend have that exact HP SSD and had it die after about a month
@wild pulsar Well Im too lazy to look into Hero's quality however the x570 Prime P is legit an amazing mobo for its price. Tho only needed for gen 4.0 PCIe which isnt really in use
My gpu is plugged in, but I’m new so maybe I’m doing something wrong with the psu
@cursive wharf thank you.
Thats the only person I know that had that ssd so I've had bad experiences
@stoic island I have the 512GB model and no issues. Afaik all failure rates are pretty close to each other
there is no widespread test that says "company x is actually not reliable"
That friend changed to a MP510, and now so have I, no issues with that.
I just have some bias from personal experience
Should I take out the gpu to see what the light says?
Im just picking cheapest components that have good perf. HP isnt well known for its customer service so Ill say that. However reliability wise it's the same as all other brands, more or less
I'll just slide in a personal suggestion to change to a mp510, slightly higher performance, better endurance warranty, but either works
I mean sure, however given that Im also doing a 3950x and 2080Ti as well for what I assume is a 3k budget limit, small price saving is nice
I don't mean to mess any of y'all results but if u r struggling to fit something in I can make it 3.3k and go broke for the rest of the month :)
nah nah nah taku we can go lower lol
xD just saying
these are creature comforts
like 1000mb/s more write doesn't matter that much since you'll be using read most of the time
Well if it's 3.3k then sure. Got the full build for 3k. Probably up the SSD and monitor a bit
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MNTKXv
Might want to up the cooler
3950x might be quite hot
huh ok
I was looking at the difference but for some reason the monitor I chose is 150$ more lol
might change
changed to a 2k 165hz monitor and a 2080ti
decided to up the monitor since we can slot in a 2080ti
skipped out on 3950x?
temps arent that bad tbh
Nah, I'm good I got a home theater if I wanna blast music
stock 3950x is like 130w power consumption and OCed one to 4.4GHz at 1.325v is 240w
We can settle for this for now, gonna look for place we can shave off a bit
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BZdL9G
The expensive case is just for RGB flex btw xD
Case I picked was just due to rush. I cant vouch for it or anything and suggest coolmaster one more
Aight. I chose it bc it looked nice and I might've gotten it
@olive kraken want ultrawide monitor?
last I checked it was $380 for a VA 1440@100Hz ultrawide with freesync.
Idk what half of that means. But sure ig?
just ignore the rest as that was towards 1111
mainly focus on the ultrawide part of it for you
Is wide monitor better to watch that adult thingie at better quality?😂 😂 😂
adult thingie
I choice a slightly larger monitor for between ultrawide and normal size
uhhhhh..... sure?
Eh, decent amount of videos get blackbars on the side, wont effect viewing or anything tho. It is helpful for more professional work tho as your view is mostly taken up correctly
as well as games look nice
I have no experience with ultrawide so eh
I’ve been trying to get my monitor to work for a while... is there anything else I can try?
Frosty so have you tried reset cmos and flashing new bios
that fixed mine when I had issues
That’s not it it just says hdmi 2 and nothing else
does it say no input
It just changed
In says “check the cable connection and the setting of the source device.”
Okay
Eh so this PC, do I gotta like order every single piece and wait for em all to arrive? Or should I wait for like X-mas to see if any discounts etc.
waiting for discounts is strongly recommanded
I mean 3000$ with 5% discounts on every part is 150$
Discounts will add up quickly
Cuz I feel like maybe it I wait a bit. And get some like holiday type discounts I could save leh money for food
ya
ok i need help can someone help me?
Cuz I just busted 1k on Bf buying X-mas gifts ;-;
ok so this my first time buliding a pc and i am coufused about the grapics card
oof yea waiting is a good idea
Austin wdym
You bought parts and have them now or are you choosing a part?
choosing
Alright whats the exact issue?
if you need help selecting cards #graphics-cards might be a good place to find people for help
i dont know what to get that is good for gaming if that makes seince beacuse i am trying to find grapic cards that go with amd
What's the budget?
(They might be asking for amd GPU idk)
Combos doesn't really matter, an intel CPU can go with a AMD GPU and a Nvidia GPU
so on one part 150
Have you decided on a CPU yet?
yes
which one?
go pentium
amd well i will send a link to it
boombastic ima let you takeover I gotta do some hw
I'd say so, some good processor choices if you get the right ones, and the rx 500 series is a good budget GPU series. But i'm no expert
oh allright
yeah
I had a friend get ryzen 3400g and rx 570 on a semi-low cost build
I'd recommend a ryzen 5 3600x
totaling up to 800$ but something like that would work
yea
liberated he has a 500$ budget so idk bout that
ooh
last I checked 3600x is like 200$
oof
is ryzen 4 good
I'm not too sure
are you trying to get 1080p ultra at 60fps? 40? different settings at 60fps?
personally i recommend a six-core but it really depends on per-core performance
honestly, if your trying to go on a super tight budget, and arent trying to run the best games, what would you think of using the 3400g iGPU?
go for a b450 or b350 I believe
it isnt like, terrible
yea sassy that is prob fine
b450 is ideal
3400g on a b450 board
Friend of mine used this mobo if you're interested, yall can critique it
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813144192?Item=N82E16813144192&nm_mc=AFC-RAN-COM&cm_mmc=AFC-RAN-COM&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_source=afc-PCPartPicker&AFFID=2558510&AFFNAME=PCPartPicker&ACRID=1&ASID=https%3A%2F%2Fpcpartpicker.com%2Fproduct%2FpBWfrH%2Fmsi-b450-a-pro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450-a-pro&ranMID=44583&ranEAID=2558510&ranSiteID=8BacdVP0GFs-cMYaFdUgEKbnn1m_TGqeOQ
plus, it allows you to get a better gpu later when your ready
I feel like even on a tight budget you can do okay
ok now memory where do i look?
Like maybe an RX 470/80? There are good deals on those
^
I remember ripjaw being cheap but idrk
ok that sounds nice
the corsair vengeance lpx is usually quite cheap
i belive last thing the grapics card could i find something like 150 or 100 for good grapics?
for 150? shoot for an RX 570 i'd say
allright is there anything else i would need?
what do you have for like the case and psu?
if anything
i would think a 500w psu is all you need if you arent planning on oc'ing
and whatever case fits the budget is fine
a psu would run you like $50
a low end case would be about 60
yea
don't cheap out, cheap PSU might fry your other componets
go for a nice reliable one
yeah
ok
go for maybe a thermaltake or a corsair one
evga or seasonic
corsair has some nice ones too
Go with something reputable and well-rated. MAKE SURE TO CHECK REVIEWS ON VITAL COMPONENTS
(new corsair ones like RM and HX)
good enough on a budget
ok thank you guys so much for the help
plus it on SALE 😮
:o
:0
:()
daaaaaang
steve from minecraft lookin mouth
lol it do
ok so i belive i have found a ryzen 5https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-3400g/p/N82E16819113570?Description=quad%20core%203rd%20gen%20CPU&cm_re=quad_core_3rd_gen_CPU--19-113-570--Product
for 180
wait 140
that cpu has an iGPU
its pretty ok
if you want to use that, then get a real gpu in the future, thats a great idea
So making a server board into a gaming comp.. Should I keep all the raided 100gb. Hdd?
look for an 8gb RX 570
4gb is okay
but 8gbs are better
not much more expensive im pretty sure
yeah, the 570 is a solid card
aight
@viral ore Br isnt good
br?
br?
evga br
oh psu
you two in sync?
lol
I guess so
anyways, Corsair CX is usually the same price
but yea not many options for 50$
I was hearing bad things about older corsair PSUs but no solid evidence
that was literally the cheapest on newegg atm
(it's also the first thing that comes up if you put in 500w into the search bar)
Corsair VS series are pretty bad
if it gets an 80+ bronze, its good enough for a budget pc
CXM has coil whine issues
Nah, BR has bad temperature tolerance and is group regulated
not super great given CX being basically same price
one 6+2 is all most people need
not really about the pin out that is bad on the BR. It is its quality
but I guess CX only has 1 6+2 pin. Not like you'll generally need more on a 450w PSU
probably gonna take apart my lego pi build and revise the design a bit; i would kinda like to make it more coherent and less like a pile of plastic and wires
this was basically a prototype to see if the idea was feasible to begin with
might try for more of a "micro-tower" form factor
nah i figure i'll just stick with what i already have and build around my pi
m-atx?
stx
interesting
micro stx, but not mini stx
the micro are like the same ratio of an atx board
but smaller
it was a new intel spec that they killed off in favor of the NUCs
ah
I'm an AMD boi
intriguing
intel made the atx spec too
to replace the AT spec back in
95?
i think
maybe earlier
me too

I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT
I finally bought my parts and DAAAMMN DO I FEEL GOOD
I have a small amount of buyer’s remorse over being tired enough to buy the ASrock 5700 XT but it was $350 and it’s not that bad so I’ll take it
X570-F
16GB trident Z neo 3600CL16
3700X
Rosewill photon 1050W
Intel 660p 1tb
I’m getting a Lian Li PC O11 dynamic
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/22522133 what do you guys think
i have alot of processes open apparently maybe i should re run it
Oh ya baby
helllllll yeah
I actually wasn’t gonna get a monster PSU like that but it was on like a mega sale so o just pulled the trigger
how much was it?
Theres a solid chance that for that price it’s a bit too good to be true and isn’t true 1050W but I only need like 650-800 max for overclocking so even if it’s only like 950W that’s way more than enough
$70
Wait
holy hell
yo here's my old benchmark for comparison https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/17332749

oof
current pc ofc
I did this one just for laughs
no percentage result but I benched a netbook
#build-pics got me wanting to do a mini pi build now
:o
oof
make a Pi collective conscience
i have 3 arduino unos and a pi b+
gather enough Pi's to do realtime raytracing
thats mine
XMP isn't enabled on the x470-F system
not bad
no idea
yes
have a little swarm of tiny computers just BZZZZZ
e
but yeah i wanna get a tiny display now and just mount it onto a Pi case
my computer during that benchmark sounded like an airplane
and then use that for school
oof
@flat salmon did you see where it was headed
smh
well, probably like 75-80
wdym zach
I was thinking, is it possible to put MSI afterburner on a netbook just to moderate fan speeds?
oh nevermind
if so that would be useful in that situation probably
no, laptop fans are not the same as desktop fans
i think it was going to dubai for christmas man
aw smh
they arent setup the same way, so most fan tuning software doesnt know how to access them
you need laptop specific programs to do that
people use the small screens as stat screens what the heck
not my pic btw
i wanna do this
but idk how id do it
It’s just getting over the fear of building your first PC like I spend hours and hours of researching mine and I was so scared to do it but I did it and I’m so glad I did
Because it was great having the feeling of doing it yourself
it only gets worse, the more you know, the longer it takes to research
lmao
Fax
i spent 30+ hours of straight research on my last build
Oh boy
almost a full day to put the thing together the way i wanted it to be
Not gonna lie I kind of got confused on the cables and had a friend put them in for me but we’re not gonna talk about that
the new one im working on has been a 3 week on and off design sort of thing
when I get my PC completely done, I'm gonna buy a tiny monitor to stick up with me in my bed with a controller or something
use your phone and the steam link app
Ive spent many, many hours now on research. Mostly cuz of me being an enthusiast. Now I can regret my purchases of them not being so great, like my PSU
my router is trash
Do you guys want to see a guy getting kicked by a horse
yeah same
yeah same
hm
does anyone play rainbow six siege
Me
wanna play?
he got bopped
I have a rainbow six siege
Not right now I have the flu and I’m lying in bed
No thanks
Ended up getting a G3. Not like it's horrible, but regret it cuz it aint that great for its price. Same with CPU Cooler, have a thicc 120mm AIO (basically standard 240mm at this point). Wouldve been better going for a high end air cooler
f
I really wanna get one of those $50 touch screens and just slap on with a Pi, and have me a nice little Win10 tablet
i got a seasonic 850 X-series for free
its older, but it was like brand new
so thats what im using in my next build
Right now I need to swap my power supply because whenever play rainbow six siege it was sometimes just turn off like my entire PC
I mean if it's free, cant complain too much unless its basically a hazard
yall i had a big brain moment
My 750 x-series is still going strong 8 years later. Solid units.
make a mini ITX build
Wow
and strap a 7" monitor to the side
easy lan party
Actually, I replaced the fan, I got annoyed with it spinning up/down constantly.
or get that one case where the whole glass side panel is a built in monitor
make your own
I remember the first time I even played on the computer and it was at a time where I thought any computer could play any game and I thought you needed a disk because that’s how you play all games lol.but I had my wireless mouse and I loaded into fortnight at I think seven frames per second😂
@viral ore what do you think. im trying to sell my old build with the X99 and i7 5820k with 18gb 2400ghz ram and 1050ti 750w psu
buying the case from ibuypower is so overpriced
my 6 case cans are gonna be spinning away, so i wouldnt mind that
I want to get the I buy power case with the LED display but I don’t have enough money
just make your own tho
you save 100s
How
@green stirrup all of that could get you a solid 650 all together if your trying to sell it
individually, you would probably get more
Ethernet? @flat salmon
That upload speed is not the best rip
@flat salmon what site is that
ikr
take apart a monitor, and keep the actual pixel display part. You just need to remove the backlight. Then in the case add a bunch o LEDs
ookla
I’m going to have to look up a YouTube video for that
yeah
Who wants to see a old lady falling and spilling hot water on her self
i feel so bad now
🦾 😔
droppin the turkiey
Lol
lol
Sorry it's in french haha
Yeah I can do about a 10 upload speed without ethernet and I’m in a bad corner of my house well my PC is
lol
speed tests to 127.0.0.1
https://tenor.com/view/unlimited-power-star-wars-gif-10270127
lol
you guys canadian?
I am
im aussie
rip
Canada is fine
because Australian internet
Aussie internet is infamous
o
Where are you from?
melb
Cool
🙂
we were talking about builds but then
ethernet
[Internet flexing intensifies]
damn
Internet in Canada is good so it's ok

this is phenominal
So I was comparing the ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) Z390 to the ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E. I see at Microcenter the Hero board comes with an Intel UHD Graphics for the Onboard Graphic Chipset. The Strix does not. I have not heard of an Intel board coming with onboard video. Is this a typo or?
typo
Thought so
Both will support iGPU output if the CPU is capable. There are only a few z390 boards that lack iGPU support alltogether, the EVGA FTW being one.
XI hero is a very popular z390 option, as are any of the z390 Aorus boards.
Is it really just down to personal choice between those two?
This is a bit old, but here's a general chart showing relative CPU power delivery capability on z390. https://www.overclock.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=250662&d=1548963030
But to answer your question - the XI hero is a higher end board with more overclocking/enthusiast features.
z390 motherboard reference spreadsheet here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IY6W6YhyjnzSvi8BqEqiK1xykSiTDF2Lt1FO8cNhI6I
I can't imagine getting a high-end board then using integrated graphics... Does not compute
Yeah, that's why I was asking
iGPU support is still needed for stuff like quicksync, it can also be useful for the occasional GPU troubleshooting.
But ya, it'd be real silly to buy an XI Apex and just run with the 9900k's 620 HD graphics for the life of the board lol
😂
I got an i7-9700KF, and a 1660Ti
I can see using Ryzen APUs for integrated graphics as a stop-gap until they can get a GPU, but those integrated graphics are a bit better
Ya, 2400g/3400g etc have been so cheap on sale
I like that the Hero has the extra CPU power plug and a rollback bios button
Though I probably didn't need to populate it for a 3700X I used the extra 4-pin CPU power on my board too XD
While the 8 pin connector is almost always enough in terms of power delivery spec, I think it's smart to always conncet both. There have been some weird reports with x570 msi boards acting up with only 1 plug used.
8 pin connector with 16 gauge wire spec is like 235 to 300 something watts haha. What about x470
Just wondering if there were ever any reports of them acting up with only 1 plug XD
Interesting random stats, last lan party I went to had a total average power draw of - Total Amps: 711 - Total Watts: 85320
It's hard to nail down the objective facts vs superstition reading through forums posts sometimes, but motherboards/platforms vary so much, it wouldn't surprise me if one board actuallly did act up if only 1 plug was used.
Haha how many users? That's a lot regardless.
~650
So roughly 130 watts per person
On average
Far more reasonable when you frame it like that
Also it seems large lan parties are great places to find completely asinine builds... Like someone with a massive case that looks cool... And inside they got an Intel stock cooler
Good morning 🙂
Morning
Haha I think my person is about 130 watts. Unfortunately I can't use a power meter for that 🙂 Kill-a-watt's are really nice to have to keep an eye on power draw
Here I am slowly dieing of anxiety waiting for my parts to arrive
I know that feeling
Already spent a couple hundreds in nice to have stuff for the PC ( cable management, PC tools, bigger mouse pad, outlet extension)
Also know that feeling
😂
Going through the assembly process in my mind to remember if something is missing
I have been assembling my own computers for 20 years and every time I do it again I feel like I never did it in my life 😝
I had to get a 30ft extension cord for my PC... Cause the house I live in currently is wired like a fire Hazzard 1/2 the house is on a single breaker
So I needed to draw power from a different part of the house
jesus
XD
5 or 6 builds now and still fun and always checking if i got everything and checking over everything a few times
I'm on build 4&5 of the same PC being rebuilt several times with multiple case swaps and a motherboard swap
@sudden turret loved your custom loop on #build-pics, next PC I want to go into custom loop as well, probably a bit more than just a custom loop, I want to do a very customized PC...
@eager chasm I always go for everything new, but that's because I usually gift my last build to someone who can make good use of it...
This one I just bought will go to my oldest son in about a year, when he (almost) turns 10...
I replaced all my parts over time and now I'm rebuilding all the old parts into a PC for my sister
Sooo similar
outside of adding a larger drive
Incremental upgrades can really extend the usable life of some builds - I used a 2500k/p8p67 from 2011-2017 but upgraded ssd twice, ddr3 twice, gpu twice, etc
Totally @little osprey
The only things the same in my build from when I started is the RAM and All storage
It's just that I usually go for whatever is best in the market at the moment I build it and then just swap to whatever is best again a couple years later
So not a lot of stuff to change in a two years frame
This time around tho I skipped a year of having a PC
cause microsoft can pry windows 7 from my cold dead hands 😡
I went from 560 ti, -> dual 560 ti, 780, back to 560 because artifacts after 1 year, then 1080, then z270
So I calculate that in one year we probably have really nice new hardware on mkt (3080s better gaming with more cores processors)
I would've put win 7 on z270 but no native NVME driver so I switched to 10 and am glad I did.
I built a starter PC with the intent of upgrading it to really nice PC over time, then ride the future proofing for several generationa
so annoyed when i tried to use win 7 with the new build it would not work and then look up to see why and find out that microsoft just bribed non support of it
to force win 10
Does you guys know if I can use a Windows 8.1 key on Windows 10 now days?
pirate it
I know you can still use win 7 keys
As much as I liked win 7 and hated 8, I love win 10 the most :D
i find it meh and suspicuous
back when I had to try to game on a laptop windows 10 gave me a legit fps boost so it always holds a special place in my heart
At one point in time you could get windows 10 for free if you click a box saying you have a disability
After I got used to win 10 the much better features make me never want to go back to 7
Let's not advocate for anything illegal, even if it's just a $5 windows key.
💰 indeed
Windows is expensive
You can find legit keys for $5. They will likely be keys that are 100% legally being resold from other PCs
Grey market sites are legal (usually) but flat out pirating is not
This ^ exactly
@little osprey usually those are keys bought in batch from PC manufacturer
Since they are OEM it's hard to be a recycled one
Also it's against discord TOS to promote piracy and they will delete your account
I've seen it happen
An OEM single use key is different vs a MAK , or other KMS / ADM activation use.
You can use windows without a key as long as you are fine with a annoying watermark on the screen although I'm not sure about the legality of that.
100% legal
@eager chasm you are telling me that if I have a server with friends who want to buy a boat and go wild on the ocean we can get our account deleted?
Well, can't use a lot of the basic customization like wallpaper, taskbar etc - but it's more of an inconvenience tbh. Ya, pro vs home is worth it for group policy editing alone imo
^
I want PRO to setup some VMs
gpedit is the "crap"
So I can play while I bot 😝
Technically pastafarianism is against the discord terms of service cause Pirates are the chosen ones in that religion 😂
Lmao

I want to go to the church of the flying spaghetti monster one day.
I'm running on 4 hours of sleep and its 1:18 am, my brain has stopped functioning and I can barely type so I think I will pass out now.
I will
What virtualization software do yo uplan to run vms in
@little osprey no idea at this moment
I want something simple and that can take some GPU power into the VM for some games
Used to use HyperV in the past
And some others VMs softwares, but it's been a while since the last time I had to
Mainly because I used to work with on promise enterprises Software, but now everything is cloud based
Java itself it's technically a barebones VM
Well, you are not wrong
Hyper-V had some nasty security problems in the past, I really like the vsphere products, have you thought of going esxi or other non win 10 baremetal OS?
esxi is a pain in the rear
Yep, I am open to most solutions
I have used VMware solutions in the past, but it was 7 years ago
I am totally out of the mkt for VMs now
I made a Win95 VM with VirtualBox
With docker I didn't have to worrie about it at all as well
Soo since eminecraft is Java... If you run a Minecraft server in a VM... It's a VM in a VM
