not really
the market is stupid
you should but you can't
intel is actually worse value in the US
the prices aren't really competitive with am5
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Aerocool Designer V2 ATX Mid Tower
this is probably the cheapest for a 7600 build
at least if you want to keep the advantage of going to am5
or else it'll be practically just as dead as a platform as LGA 1700
I'm going to try to find a cheaper board
i mean wouldn't the argument that it's future proofing be invalid in a few years anyway when it's time to upgrade because am6 would be out or maybe something newer if you stick with it
Is a 7500f a possibility?
it's about 60$ cheaper i think
can go slightly cheaper if https://ro.pcpartpicker.com/product/vXcgXL/gigabyte-b650-eagle-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-eagle
no wifi but 🤷♂️
dgaf about wifi
X3D
also this would be more expensive than the cpu if i was going 7500f lol
i remember like 4 years ago mobos were like 70$ wtf happened
if you're not planning on upgrading at all
you can go cheaper
But judging by your market
there is a non zero chance that X3Ds will be price gouged even in half a decade
might be one of those markets where it's literally cheaper to build a whole new pc
what's the option then
yeah
5+2+2
It'd be fine for a 7500F
if you aren't going to upgrade ever
might as well
on that note you could probably replace the cpu cooler
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Aerocool Designer V2 ATX Mid Tower
swap the 7600 for a 7500F
Might also be a good idea to spend more on the power supply
and parts that you might want to keep when you do eventually build a whole new computer
you can probably min max a bit
I wouldn't touch the motherboard tho
that's really the cheapest I'd go
for the power supply are you referring to more wattage or better tier
alright thanks
good unit bit bit pricey
gonna look for the cheapest thing that isn't a bomb
although considering the used market isn't that great anyways
it's debatable that going above 750w is a kind of a waste anyways
since 850w psus are generally more useful with used gpus that are generally more powre hungry
what the hell? they make psus now?
i think they've been making them for some time and some model was ok but the rest were bombs
all are mediocre, but quite a few case manufacturers go from cases into PSUs for some reason
like sama and segotep
thought so
deepcool has a couple decent units
this isn't bad tbh
although it's on the edge of being mediocre
and it's on the limited confidence ratings list so
eh
oh wait no
It's on the main list as B-
interesting
There's also this but eh
ATX 2.0
kinda meh in terms of being the one thing you want to kepe
the A-GLs are the only thing that's decent in this market it seems
does cost substantially more than an A650GL
750w is the sweet spot
but the 750w is closer in price to the 850w so
ehhhh
But yeah, more of a long term investment
le psu upsell
when the 750w is close to the price of 1000

guys does adata 32gb 6000mhz cl30 ram use sk hynix
im guessing yes cause of latency but theres no spec sheets
There might be a lookup table somewhere, maybe ask or search in #cpus-mobo-and-memory
Are you mixing sticks by any chance?
could be a lot of things, hynix among them. if you want cheap a die get it on aliexpress
klevv a die:
how much is a 32gb?
it's like $65 for aliexpress a die
but youre also buying off aliexpress...
and?
many issues with that
and with amazon
a lot less with amazon
no because im not giving any card to that company
Eh?
you can talk about it, but you're making claims that are unsupported by your own experience and directly contradicts the experience of anyone who actually uses it
AliExpress is a legit marketplace
it's chinese, it's bad (just ignore that 99% of the shiz on amazon is chinese garbage too)
it has its downsides from buying there
I hate how AliExpress is equated with temu and shein
Totally different platforms
AliExpress is a legitimate e-commerce platform
amazon sells fuses that are just straight up wires. they don't pop. truly a trustworthy website
And not just dropshipping crap
Real
Amazon is just as bad
i'm sure ali is no different, but that just reiterates the point that you just have to use at least two of your braincells when shopping. on any platform. including irl
The only reason I don't like AliExpress that much is because I'm chinese market pilled and used to taobao
they make returns a smidge easier but that's really it tbh
Now that I'm not in China, AliExpress makes more sense
they have some asia exclusive products that i sometimes like, and cheap CPUs
it's based
Seriously the internal Chinese market is really based
also when did i say amazon is good
both are bad
Amazon was an example
you recommended that they buy something from amazon
if it's just as bad as ali then they shouldn't get it there either
don't change the goalposts now, stand by your statement champ
its better than ali but both are bad
That is an opinion
one unfounded by his own experience by his own admission lel
best not to throw stones in glass houses there champ. only one of us is making ridiculous unfounded claims. be careful slinging prideful insults when your argument is based on "but no like china"
i never said that
dont put words in my mouth when youre only stereotyping
then pray tell, why is aliexpress uniquely bad
ali is bad because of security reasons mainly, and that is a fact
lol like what
its fully owned by a chinese company... which is NOT good for security on a site youre putting credit card info into
proceeds to stereotype
but im right
.
lmfao
"no like china"
goes to insulting me instead of disproving
You just based the fact that it's insecure based on the fact that it's a Chinese company
lmao?
After criticising him for stereotyping
he just assumed, nothing else
So did you
your argument is 'no like china'
i can't disprove an opinion
and i was right lol
it does lol
wait i'm the one stereotyping?
homie are you okay?
ok so tell me how putting your credit card info into a chinese owned company is safe...
stereotyping
tell me how putting your credit card ifo into an american owned company is safe
Chinese owned company = insecure
the parent company of ali is infact very insecure
because it's chinese right?
.
because its on the worse side of chinese companies...
.
lets keep arguing in circles yeah?
Do you... Have a source
remember guys, Newegg is owned by a Chinese company
Bad faith argument moment
my dad owns microsoft and he says you're not the sharpest knife in the block
huh?
why would i be lying
you don't need to be lying for it to be a shid argument
appeal to authority without anything to indicate that the authority is a valid one
my dad knows far more than anyone talking here rn about cybersecurity...
you've done nothing but argue in bad faith but suddenly because 'your dad' said something i'm meant to believe him full-send?
Even if that's true it doesn't change the facts here
You're not providing a source
and you clearly don't, so i'm not really interested in playing telephone with you and your dad, from a clearly biased/prejudiced place
yall enjoy whatever bubble youre in
This is equivalent of "I know a guy who knows a guy"
fascinating specimen you are mate
ive also yet to hear how im wrong ❤️
and i'm the blind one? 🥀
?
...
You're stating that AliExpress is insecure without providing any evidence
try reading it again but slower. i know it's hard champ
its valid evidence to me which is more than enough
Should only be Hynix that can do 6000c30, if you look at Adata 6000c30 kits on QVL lists, it's all Hynix dies from what I can tell
it's not when you're making a recommendation to somebody
how so
my dad owns aliexpress and he says its safe soooo
crazy
For example, Z890 Unify, the list goes on
my uncle is xi jin ping and he's going to give you a little brother for christmas
^
I just disagree with the notion that it's insecure because it's owned by a chinese company
If you said "It's insecure because they failed to implement [x]" measure
(but at that point you'd have to disregard every major ecommerce platform ever for similar reasons)
I'd probably agree if there's a source backing it up
Debatable
i was not told that
i was told its insecure
Ok

Insecure because of...?
compelling stuff
because it is
his dad is an expert™️
he... is...
and he is a professional question non-asker
my dads busy lmao we barely had time to talk
It doesn't matter if he's an expert
Experts can be wrong
That's why I ask for a source regardless of credentials
A rank isn't a source
It's a title it's just that
It doesn't support anything
my dad pops pills between operating heavy equipment, i don't see why your family issues really matter to this discussion
that has no relation
what?
If he has a piece of work that supports that argument then by all means
hes busy so he couldnt tell me everything... that shouldve been clear
i'm making the point that you're bringing up unrelated errata
im not
lmao?
Ehhh
sigh
I wouldn't say it's unrelated
Actually it is unrelated tbh
It doesn't support the argument in any sense
it wasnt answering that
what?
my real name is lordfoogleton gates
If you can't backup your argument you should reconsider your position or at least find evidence instead of doubling down with no evidence
well i dont have that
that was abundantly clear
Ok you're just escalating at this point
i cant back it up cause i never though twice about it
This isn't needed
Then you should do so
i'm shidpost because this whole convo is a shidpost at this point
If you're interested in the topic
no reason to
we're arguing in circles with someone who's thesis is 'no like china, dad owns microsoft'
Ok that's your choice, but don't use that opinion when it comes to other people's shopping choices
ok
ok
Ok can we
lowk can you help a bit more with that portable monitor
im buying it tomorrow since im FINALLY off work
With what?
What do you need help with?
wrong link
Ok but
gg
What do you need help with
it was never serious, i just shidpost when things become... frustrating. better to laugh than get mad
i want to find a portable monitor
oh gg
only some
What platforms are available, what are the requirements?
lot of them are still blocked here
a few automute you for 10m still unless that was fixed
light gaming (100-120hz), OLED, 1440p+, sub 300-350, newegg preffered
Uh
and a good bonus is touchscreen
1440p?
not needed though
i think it varies
14-18 is fine
the price diff between a 1080p 60hz and a really good one isnt much
i missed the 'portable' part and was geeking out over $350 1440p oleds lol
I say this because I use a 1080p 60hz ips
like damn i need one
i found that once
$40 I think
Imo it's not worth the premium
i barely follow displays so i never catch deals
But I'm not really someone who particularly... Cares... About displays
I'm probably the wrong person to ask
https://www.newegg.com/p/2NY-008V-000F3 this is what ive found so far
#peripherals-and-displays would be a better place to ask
i snagged a $200 1440p 144hz with a quite decent panel back when those were $300-400 and that was my big win. just chilling with that so far
BUT the sale extended so im very very skeptical
I don't think you should be getting your advice from someone who's standard for monitors is "if it turns on it's good"
true
So yeah some of the monitor people in #peripherals-and-displays would be more helpful than me in this regard
lmao
Guys I need some serious help
My pc
It’s so bad
It keeps freezing and stuttering so badly to the point it’s frustrating to use my pc and games are unplayable
Why is it doing this?
At first Fortnite was the only thing doing this and loading a a game of Fortnite was the cause
Then I would reset my pc and it would be back to normal
And all other games ran fine
Then I tried rust
Same thing
Not only that, I’ve recently been experiencing just random crashes
Like I’ll be playing a game just fine, and all of a sudden my whole pc freezes and never gives me an error or a blue screen
Just soft locks and I have to shut it off and turn it back on
This is also a pretty beefy rig, R 5 7600, 32 Gb DDR5, RX 6800 XT
so idk what’s going.
Check windows, check drivers, check temps, check drives
Sfc and dism?
DDU with safe mode?
?
I’m factory resetting my pc rn and it’s stuttering on the windows setup screen 🧍🏽
It is freezing, oh my lord
Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in admin cmd afterwards if you're only factory resetting
Will do
Windows can still be borked with just resetting
Wiping and clean install is the only way to be safe, otherwise there's always a chance something inside windows borked
Also are you on w10?
No w11
Have you updated windows recently?
On the setup screen my external SSD is going to show up as new volume right?
According to windows secure backup thing it was the 25th?
There was a security update recently that was killing ssds
Yesterday we reported on Windows 11 24H2 security update as part of the August 2025 Patch Tuesday cycle to counter the Lumma stealer and similar malware and exploits. The cumulative package KB5063878 included in the update caused SSDs to fail, possibly corrupting data. Community testing has since id...
How would I know this was the issue?
May want to try rolling back windows updates
On the windows being corrupted side, DISM and then sfc would tell you if anything is corrupted
On the drive degredation side, something like crystal disk info to read the SMART data
So I would do the thing you told me earlier
Ye, after you run DISM, also run sfc /scannow
Anyways if all else fails, DDU and reinstall graphics drivers, then run some stress tests through OCCT and monitor everything, suspect voltage and temps on everything, average temps could look good while hotspot might be too high, power might be fine but voltage might be dropping too much, etc. good luck, I gotta sleep
need help asap with a pc build im having a problem with the motherboard and ps wont show life need help and pw wont spin when plugged in
https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-z790-aorus-elite-ax-atx-motherboard-intel-z790-lga-1700/p/N82E16813145417 paired with https://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i7-14th-gen-core-i7-14700kf-raptor-lake-lga-1700-desktop-cpu-processor/p/N82E16819118468 I'm not getting any benefit for pairing with ram over ddr5 5600 correct?
You still will benefit from ram faster than 5600
Up to what speed?
Your mileage may vary, depends on what the imc is stable up to, which will be different for every individual chip, and will depend on tuning
Up to something like 7000
thats overpriced
itll be better than a 5600 yeah but youre crazy overpayingf
what kind of cable kit shoud i get
really only looking to replace the atx and pcie cables
what's overpriced?
The things you sent
Where's a better price?
120-130$ mobo + maybe like 250 for that cpu with an igpu, less for one without
Again, where? Don't hold out on me 🙂
120$ board is easy
although id still recommend amd over intel rn
much better pricing
For the purposes of just purely gaming, and assuming you already have a dgpu, 14600k for $150 will get you ~95% of the performance of a 14700k
https://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i5-14th-gen-core-i5-14600k-raptor-lake-lga-1700-desktop-cpu-processor/p/N82E16819118470
And assuming you don't have any extra io needs and won't have any extra storage needs, this b760m board is cheaper at $120
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CK582LX5
Supports 13th Gen & 12th Gen and next gen Intel® Core™ Processors (LGA1700) 14+1+1 Power Phase Supports DDR5 7200MHz (OC) 1 PCIe 4.0 x16, 1 PCIe 4.0 x1 Graphics Output Options: HDMI, DisplayPort Realtek ALC897 7.1 CH HD Audio Codec, Nahimic Audio 4 SATA3, 2 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4) 2 USB 3.2 Gen1...
Assuming you haven't bought the 14700k already
Ok thanks!
thats quite a nice deal on the 14600k
Oh it's time gamers
I bought parts
Also a prime and shaq gummies for my room mate
Fellas I'm getting ready to ship my computer across the country and need advice
I'm packing the tower in the same box the case originally came in
Should I pack the inside of it with anti static bubble wrap
would it even do anything
Thanks man. This is just a hobby that funds itself plus some. I build every PC as I would for myself or a family member. Only reason that one had 1TB is because of the customers budget and where he wanted to hold back.
totally fair, as a recommendation though the Montech Century II psus are amazing for their price
If you want to go all out do this https://youtu.be/iS2FVrG4EvU?si=Zsa2RBqMP4qh_s_l - do
You plan to ship via mail?
Have you ever needed to safely pack and ship your gaming PC somewhere but fear it getting completely destroyed in transit? Well thanks to Jawa.gg, today I get to show you how to safely pack your precious system up nice and tight to ensure it arrives to its destination in one piece!
Jawa.gg is the newest marketplace for gamers to buy and sell P...
I’ve shipped 15+ Systems and don’t go as hard as that dude did in the tutorial. You’ll be in good shape. Having the OG box is huge
I actually specifically bought a new tower for this exact reason lol
I didn't feel like paying an extra like $400 for usps to "specialty pack" it
gpu is going to be in my carry on though
So PC is built
Turns out my cpu is dead
I need to get a new cpu
Gonna upgrade to a ryzen 7 5800x or a ryzen 5 5600x3d
Have you updated the bios?
Yes
Bought a new motherboard
Gigabyte b550 eagle wifi6
New case too
Also nice phone glitches
Tried updating tried different ram the on board cpu ram controller is messed up
Guys what would you say is a better pick, I5 13400F for ~550 NIS/165 usd, or R5 7500F for ~750 NIS/225 usd?
Ignoring the upgradability potential of am5
Or 13400 non F for around 190-200
7500F
Ikr me having a 13400f and saying to get 7500f is crazy
Why whats wrong
Also i just found my lost m.2 lol
Nice
This is an ssd right?
Idk i yanked it out of my old and last HP laptop
Should have an instillation of win11 if it hasn’t been killed yet
ye, m.2 drive, m key
should check my old pc if it has an m.2 port and see if this still works ig?
You can do that
also what would you say about my previous question
7500f or 13400f
13400f if it's that much cheaper
Guys what cable extension kit should I get
Requirements are;
-Esthetically pleasing
-under $50
-braided
Depends on mobo prices
B760 gaming plus ddr4 is 519, B650 gaming plus ddr5 is 620
Also did you read this
I’d say it’s up to you if you care about more upgrade path
But
I’d say am5 cause ddr5 and upgrade path
True but im probably not going to upgrade
Wait that was without tax oops
This is nz right
Oh what’s NIS
7400f is also an option ig?
Similar price as the 13400 with integrated graphics
8400f too
Ok
Why is it worse than the 7400?
Oh L
Only ones i see are either G or F lol
F is fine G sucks
G no need
But don’t get 8000 series
Useless
Is the 7400 a good one
How much is it
For budget
621
It’s fine but might have some cooling issues if you don’t have a decent cooler
Nzxt t120
Can always take an aio
what is that converted to usd
how much more is the 9600x
What’s the total cost for the 7400f vs the 13400
just to have a reference
100 dollars
wow that is a large increase
should we delete the lizard emoji that theo_yells keeps using
7
9
1
yes
🗿
13400 is similar right
Are coolermaster aios good
I already have an M.2 so i dont need to get one with the pc
And a 2.5” i can use for a boot drive
Yeah it wont matter much if you dont do any multicore stuff

some games though the 7500f does pull ahead
but that price difference is a lot even then
Ig ts is fine
save more by getting an air cooler
and then allocate those savings towards faster ram
Okay air cooler + 2 fans is already the price of a 240mm here tho
Also oops wrong ram pack
oh ok
Arctic freezer xtreme is a good price is it any good
And i dont want to hear about getting a peerless assassin from amazon

I already said ram was accidentally the wrong one
Country: USA
Budget: $1000 USD
Use: Gaming
Resolution: 1080p
Aesthetic: Don't care just want to get the best parts for the money
Condition: Would like new but can be certified refurbished
do you alr have a monitor or no
Not yet but that's not included in his budget
Unless you got a really good cheap one
It's for one of my friends
does he play like super intensive games at maxed out settings
if not then id get an 8gb 9060xt over 16gb
It's a fair tradeoff for 1080p
Especially considering the price difference
Also consider used 6700xt
Right now his laptop can't play anything other than very small indie games and roblox lol
yeah its 380 16gb and 275$ 8gb
tbh
Define "other games"
8gb is plenty for 1080p even max settings
i could run c77 at 1440p med with my 3060ti no vram issues
why its amazing lmao
i got the deluxe for 20$ so idm
I'm sure the game's great but I can't support a studio that churns out slop
slop as in the state the game released in
Good question lol. I'm guessing he'd like to play fortnite, Phasmophobia, modded lethal company, uhhh other indie games,
He doesn't really play huge AAA games
9060xt should be way more than enough
Mostly because he can't lol
I have a 3070 mobile
I run half my games off my igpu
I can also run some vr titles
I'd even say a 9060xt might be a bit overkill
Can probably drop the budget if he wants to
Coffee lake/zen2-3, used 3060ti
Not that I'd recommend it
But it's an option
Would like something that will last him a good while
Maybe costs more in some instances
Just straight best bang for buck 1000
It really depends on what he plays
If you get bang for the buck it shouldn't matter
You wouldn't be spending that much in the long term
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DJk96Q without gpu
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Cooler Master Elite 301 MicroATX Mid Tower
Why are parts on newegg so expensive
ik but its pretty cheap
x 120?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Cooler Master Elite 301 MicroATX Mid Tower
Slight cheaper
$18 less
Could go cheaper if psu's not a concern
Although I'd keep the 850w for gpu upgrade reasons
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Cooler Master Elite 301 MicroATX Mid Tower
Down to $596
Would be far in the future
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Cooler Master Elite 301 MicroATX Mid Tower
But would he want to upgrade the cpu or gpu
Because I'd spend more on the motherboard and psu now if he wants to upgrade
But if he's never going to upgrade
No point
Hmmmm
eh id still take the century II
I mean idk why he wouldn't upgrade in the future
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
This then
He can go up to an x3d
oh thats pretty cheap for the eagle
not at all
All he needs to do is swap the cpu for an x3d if he wants to upgrade
could also get 2tb ssd
Eh
His preference
But yeah budget is there
He can probably reuse a ssd from his existing system to supplement the mp44l
If he so desires
mhm
lmao i started a war in amd by saying model>brand
If they think brand > model they are stupid
ik
good for them
Good list. Recommended 2TB min though.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qLxbMC thoughts?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Montech X5 ATX Mid Tower
if I put a K-series intel cpu (eg 14700k) into a b660 motherboard will it lose any performance? I probably won't be OCING so that doesn't matter too much to me
hey vim
I wanted to show progress on my pc currently
bought this dope case and motherboard and storage, next month gonna buy a cpu and get 32 gbs of ram, then the month after that i'm gonna grab a 9060 xt
Is that a 6600
yuh

I got my current pc as a pcpartpicker list if ur interested or I could just send over the spec list from steam
I had one for like 2.5 years
• CPU - Ryzen 5 5600x (Gonna buy a Ryzen 7 5800xt next month)
• GPU - RX 6600 XFX Speedster (gonna upgrade this sooner or later)
• MOTHERBOARD - Gigabyte B550 EAGLE WIFI6
• RAM - G-Skill Ripjaws V Series 8 x 2 DDR4 3200 ( gonna double this)
• CASE - Montech XR Tempered Glass
• STORAGE - 1x Crucial P3 PCIe gen 3 m.2, 1x 1tb inland Performance m.2 gen 4 & 1x WD Gold 4TB Hard Drive
• CPU Fan - AMD Stock Fan
• CASE Fan - 4 x120mm fans that came with the case
• PSW - MSI MAG A750GL
• OS : Windows 11
you might notice i have corsair memory in my desktop atm, this is because my 5600x is dead, the ram controller is messed up in it
why not upgrade to am5 also? well am4 is cheap
a 5800x is like, 150 dollars, thats cheap!
also I need to get a fan hub
and do the cable managment in the back, it's currently a mess also I don't have the back panel on atm
Well you would need a cooler for 5800xt
already got that covered too
Oh ok
gonna by a peerless assassin
I feel that in games it will be a really small uplift except for bf6
i'm really only upgrading for borderlands 4
It would be a lot more but I think you would be better off with a 5700x3d, because you would get more life out of am4 with it
Upgrade to am5 is a lot
So x3d can delay that further
also doing this upgrade / building is giving me something to do project wise, afterwards i'm gonna repair and customize my desk, also about that I looked at my local micro center for most my parts and they don't got a 5700x3d
Yeah gonna have to look on ebay for it
I could also get a aio..
montech aio to match my montech case
but no
I need to budget for next month
i need food and cat stuff for kitty
but my mom is gonna give me 750 dollars, after vet stuff is done then with whatever is left i'll go ahead and see about getting a 9060xt 16gb, would be a great upgrade then with my old parts I could put them back into my bad prebuilt pc case/motherboard and turn that into an emergency pc
if not, i'll just put the rest back into the bank
hatsuned miku
Reject modernity
Become one with the 2007 case
My room mate would be drooling at this
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Montech X5 ATX Mid Tower
Why not on latest chipset 870
because that wont effect anything for you
Doesn't that have worse vrms tho
eagle non ax 850 is 170
I think one of the newer eagles have mediocre vrms
Yeah you generally have more than enough pcie lanes these days
So chipsets don't matter that much 99% of the time
and 9060xt isnt effected by pcie5 lmao
but theyre cheap enough where it doesnt matter
Eh
niche, hot, expensive
thats just samcrap ssds though right?
Think so
Do they even have dram?
i use my pc to play apex and watch anime
That the annoying thing
Thats real lowk
A lot of the newer samsung evos don't have dram
Like why tf am I buying samsung then
My 970 evo plus has dram
That's why I bought it
Still a solid ssd
Samsung fell off after 980
no dram on 990 evos
980 is straight up trash
Only the pros are worth it imo
Non pros range from extremely mediocre to just bad
my ssd is a 960 pro oem 😭
My ssd is a gm7000
idk
What amperage is good for vrms
its broken asf though
Is that solid
My friend has a 1660 super pcb with a case fan strapped to it
960 pro is generous wtf
thats not bad
I'd be using that as scratch disk
dram is not as big of a deal as it used to be when there are drives that have hmb buffers in the hundreds of gigs
Wait no mb there is no fan
I think it is great if you have am5
Yeah but if you're paying upwards of $100+
It better have dram
I'm not paying $100+ for HMB
If it is really old then yeah
Not even modern ssds
damn
It writes at 6 gigs for like 45 seconds which is decent
Better than most drives where they only hit their max for like 15 seconds
its still just
ugh
It's also $100+
for 1tb yeah, for 2tb eh
If I wanted HMB I wouldn't spend that money
Most nvmes are, but they are also the only x2 drive
I'd spend what it's actually worth
A lot of the $100+ drives have dram
I'd rather get gen 4 x4 at that point
Like I said
Problem isn't the drives
It's the pricing
Want to put HMB on your drives? Fine
Make them cheaper if you're going to cheap out
HMB drives are cheaper, I don't think there are any that are more expensive than their own counterparts with dram
The samsung drive are at a point where you're considering spending a bit more for dram
They're not really that great in terms of value
If it costs more than an eagle ax
And has worse vrms
It's crap
Something like an eagle AX can handle an X3D
That's the upper end of what you would need
How do you determine it’s worse vrms if you have no clue
No seriously that's how I do it
That's not me trying to be sassy
Google “Is the vrms on the google mother board good “ ?
No
You look at the vrms themselves
And the cpu that you have
And if you want upgradability or not
You can get a board with a 6 phase vrm
That'd be fine for a Ryzen 5
But I definitely would not put an X3D on it
It's not that clear cut
It depends on several factors
Long term reliability is a factor
Don't cheap out that'd be my advice
Eagle AX is solid and it doesn't cost too much
12 phase
Would be extremely overkill for a ryzen 5
But for a R7 to an X3D it's solid
I'd argue it's slightly overkill for Non X3D
Future upgrade wise ?
That's up to AMD
If they decide if they want to screw over the consumer
Then you're screwed
If not
You may be able to upgrade to next gen
Golden rule on upgrading
Always expect the current gen to be the last
Don't depend on the generosity of AMD or Intel
It's quite likely that a decent B650 will be fine next gen but you never know
Depends on how "long term" you want to run it for
I mean why not as long as possible
And what cpu you're pairing it with
How long
Let's suppose you're pairing it with a 7700x
Ten years final offer and I’m taking all the risk here
Eh?
You'd probably be complaining about the cpu being slow before the vrms become an issue
Idk man
Especially if you're not pairing it with a stupidly power intensive load
My current rig is starting to give me problems I’ve had it for six years
Random crash
I rma’d psu waiting for Corsair to bless me with the delivery that’s taking more than a week now
No I built it
Have you reinstalled windows at any point?
Right
I believe it’s a scam
I got two new ram kits just in case it’s not the ram
Is it vengeance ddr4 by any chance
Those kits are notoriously for not being able to even run at xmp
Ryzen 5 3600x
X570 pro4
Rm650x rma getting the 750
5700xt sapphire nitro plus
what ram kit?
Yes garbage at oc but got it stable for two years idk if it was bios update or whatever
Although I bought two diffferent ram kits and I tested single dimms and all and low speeds
It’s not the ram I used other sticks to rule that out
That could be your problem tbh
Could be the motherboard
Or drive
Or the gpu...
Need more context really
Ran disk info ssd is fine also it’s semi new
Have you tested the ssd yet?
Ye it’s fine
Thing is I thought maybe board went bad
Or cpu degrading
So instead of replacing am4 I’ll switch to am5
Ddr4 price was around ddr5
So not replacing am4 board
You're probably not going to get that much better of a result by overspending
is the rma directly giving you the 750 or are you getting it from money from the rma
No they’re sending 750
ah ok
They don’t have mine in stock
Free upgrade

It’s taking forever even though I got expedited rma
Future proofing only works to a certain extent
So what’s a reasonable expectation for pc lifetime
The only thing you can really future proof is the case and power supply, and maybe cpu cooler
Depends on load
reallllly hard to tell
Rip
If you put a Ryzen 3 on a board with overbuilt vrms
It's probably never going to die by load
It can die by other factors
But not by load
Is there a tool that measures your components life like with ssds
No

Any tool that does so is quack

There is no way to measure the lifespan of tens of thousands of individual components
That goes into a component
There are estimates

Currently my rig
Just sitting there waiting for burial
Sad
he need some milk
True but that takes a trip to kitchen
didn't even notice the crunch flakes
Good thing I have functional dell optiplex for backup
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
It has electrolytes what plants crave
I still have to find a backup server machine
It's gonna backup my vms
And the backup to my sync
So I can have a backup of a backup of a backup of my laptop sync folder
gulp
Got mine for free fixed a thrift stores four for free got fifth for free stonks
It’s not too bad
Nah
Some type of i5 forgot and ddr4
Looks like skylake
6500
lol I’m brain dead
I have one of these in my room
I fixed optiplex got that in exchange
Actually this was the best one out of the five
Other ones had weaker cpu and ddr3 I think
The new opterplex
My M900 server
It's actually a P310 now because I swapped out the motherboard
It can take ECC so
Not consumer grade anymore
Just the chassis
Tbh I never really touched it since I got it two years ago
So forgot what it really is
The new scam
What’s that
xeron
It's cheap
I’m telling you this stuff is the real deal
Big companies sell their old hardware for ultra cheap
Grab them
Yeah why do you think I have two mini pcs
Stonks
They're haswells so they're pretty mid
