Not shocked at all
Fortnite is definitely better if you don't use performance mode
Which you shouldn't anyway with a 7900XT
DX12 pro is the typical suggestion, low settings
Like for like radeon runs a bit faster than a 4070TI super
XTX would do the same against a 4080 Super
Yeah that's what we have going now for settings
Yeah there you go
I would consider that
If you go get a cooler master V3 vertical gpu mount
You could get the HDV and it'll look like a full mobo still
Cos it'll be hidden
I had looked at those as well. I was ready to drop 1k, so I might as well go the XTX route. It'll last him 2 and through most of college if he takes care of it.
Food for thought but anyway the gigabyte still good
Yeah lemme check XTX one sec
This one is like, the viral internet pick lol
Really cool tech in the card
This would be the standard pick https://pcpartpicker.com/product/gCBG3C/asrock-phantom-gaming-oc-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-24-gb-video-card-rx7900xtx-pg-24go
Both perform about the same
The XFX would have better manufacturing QC
So I'd lean the XFX personally
For PSU for either of these if you need one
Or much better for $4
Both will be ample
If picking the cheaper end of all this allows you to get him a better screen btw, it'll be worth it
If he doesn't have an OLED, you should have some degree of budget here for it
I have the 1200w snow edition in my cart
GF3 or GF A3
Is it white or black?
Like the build
GF A3 don't buy
It had a parts revision to become terrible quality recently
white
this is the monitor i had in mind
https://www.newegg.com/aoc-ag276qzd-27-qhd-240-hz-oled-black/p/N82E16824160507?Item=N82E16824160507
I'm not worried about the all white build. I'm building the best machine I can. If he wants to matchy matchy when he's paying that's on him
Is the case white tho?
sweet, I'll keep that on the list
Yes the case is white
Ok
Cos white is like a few dollars here and there if smart
Keep an eye on this monitor too

It regularly goes cheap
Yeah we don't need 1200W
Overkill here
850W is overkill tbh
Is the h170i bought btw?
It is
Ok I'll note it
and already installed

Wasn't sure it'd be enough power
I think that's a good one hold on
Yeah it's a fantastic one use it @untold orbit
No doubt in my mind
That's more than enough
sweet!
Bought ram?
Does he like arrr gee bees
I was sitting on cpu, mb, ram and gpu until Black Friday/Cyber Monday
Honestly, he doesn't care about anything other than playing. Good for my wallet.

The 6400 kit might not run perfectly out of the box
But high chance it does
So SSD bought?
yes
Ok I'll put a placeholder
Crucial t700 2gb
Well no. It just arrived today
Gen 4 is too fast for everyone else lol
Amazon?

Ah damn
I could ask but you'd maybe need to pay return shipping
Ah well

I do some graphic work and he does stream, but I'm more of a buy quality first and price second
Ok graphic work is fine
Yeah, i saw these beauties.
Should more or less look like thishttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/yg7Hh7
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Thermaltake CTE T500 Air ATX Full Tower
4070TiS-4080-ish performance
Save for heavy RT
But wayyyy cheaper
Disagree
I've run an XTX and 13900KF overclocked on a 1000W
9800X3D uses like a 3rd of the power I was using there
So 850W, and a very good 850W at that, will be fine
Sweet
About 550W GPU/430W CPU at the same time so yeah
Pretty sure you're fine
Well I've adjusted my shopping cart. Friday through Monday is going to be my Christmas

Do the lad a favour
Get him a desk mat
It'll quiet the noise of the pc down
All his ferocious tapping and building

haha
I'm a personal fan of the glorious desk mats

It's big
Like real big
Fortunately he plays controller mostly. I'm woken the wife up more than him
Np
I just like seeing people save money man, I use the time to learn

Play with all this hardware in my spare time
That's great. I was able to do a lot of that in high school 20+ years ago, but college and real life hit. It's been fun getting back into building and playing
Haha ikr
My wife will appreciate the cost savings as well.
Oh yeah for sure, it's amazing what learning to save on a pc does, like saving every week in a super market

Amen to that
Well @cyan ravine I've got an early morning Turkey cooking session. I'll be in here again soon.

MSI - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB VENTUS 3X OC 12GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card
This good one
One that works
Depends the price
B650s
Peerless assassin
i buy 3x
It's ok. There's better models at the same price typically
show me
lol
As respectfully as possible I've told you multiple times what I'd recommend
Okay my bad, I just wanted to make sure 😔
No it's ok, just a lot of people seek confirmation of their own opinions and assumptions instead of advice
But could I go with the cpu with integrated graphics in case something happened to gpu? So I could still use the pc until I was able to get the gpu replaced/fixed if needed? And also the 14600k is I think $20 cheaper the 13600k
Its your money
I know that, I just want to make sure I don’t get something and it be worse than the other option
The difference between the 2 is just the fact its 14th gen and 13th gen
Okay, thank you 🙂
Both are high end cpus, and both i believe have competent integrated
Integrated will pretty much never keep up with a dedicated gpu, but nowadays they hold up enough even for some light gaming
Yeah the 13th gen is $235 while the 14th gen is $215, also what do you mean by light gaming?
Like solitaire? 😅
My 7600x on integrated can run minecraft, i played lethal on it for a bit before my gpu came in at very reasonable fps
What lethal company?
I even play battlefield 1 on it at 1080p low and got 40 or so average fps
780m/890m supremacy
a bit worrying on idle no? how do I fix this if I can..
No its fine
Turn up your fan curve if you want it to be colder
As long as under load the CPU doesn't get beyond like 90-95 degrees you're fine
@fallow knot send it here
@mossy venture what’s a good monitor I should get for $200-$250 32”? Preferably one that is curved. This is what I’m trying to have my monitors end up looking like the ones in this pic
So the issue with curved is you typically lose out on panel quality
Lemme grab some options
Okay so what if I do the one on the left is curved and the one I would be gaming on keep it straight?
Part List
That would be make sense
The msi $110, g2724d at $150, and the acer mini led at $190 would be the best choices at their price points for the gaming monitor
The one you do horizontal, your choice
Well obviously your choice either way not my money lmao
Thats just what I'd personally do
Okay bet, thanks for the help 😁
Np
Wait wouldn’t these need to be gsync since I would be getting Nvidia?
Freesync and gsync are interchangeable
Interchangeable? How would that work?
All modern freesync monitors are g-sync compatible, what it needs to be able to do for freesync is the same capabilities for g sync compatible
Proper g-sync takes a separate chip, but g-sync compatible doesn't need it
A few the monitors on the list I was given says freesync premium or just freesync, then there is an option to get the one that says gsync compatible?
What do you mean ultra wide? Is that so it won’t be as tall?
Freesync premium would be the same hardware wise as freesync, just with some added features, and would still be g-sync compatible.
Nvidia makes g-sync compatible weird because they only certify some monitors to be g-sync compatible, while all modern freesync monitors are compatible for that g-sync compatible
oh okay, that makes a lot more sense now
https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-gs27qc-27-qhd-165hz-oc-170hz-va-black/p/N82E16824012064 good monitor and price or no?
if so i think im going to just go with 2 of these and do them side by side for now or one vertical still if i like it
What thermal paste should I get? I see multiple kinds but don’t know which one is the best/better one. @mossy venture @stoic island
MX6
Can just get some mx-6 and be fine, cooler usually comes with some already though
Mx6 the GOAT
I'd say PTM7950 holds that honor, MX-6 is just the best for the price
1st is a lot nicer tho
Okay I’ll check to see if it does
Graphene pads are excellent for longevity too. Install it and forget it for 20 years.
I’ve never used it

It's like liquid metal without the danger
What’s the danger?
Metal on your motherboard and CPU can cause short circuits
Dead parts
Magic smoke
Lmao
Also the gigabyte not a good one btw
The one I’ve chosen is still good too no? I’d like to try having curved monitors because I’ve only ever used straight monitors in my life
I outta try that
Nope
M27Q is close to that one and much better, but the two I listed are better than M27Q
What’s wrong with the one I chose?
Curved screens just aren't good on budget unless you find mini-LED/QLED/OLED
Curved screens are also mostly useless below 32". The point is to help with your FOV, but you can easily see the entire monitor with a 27".
Hmm, tbh would have been easier to decide what size and type of screen I wanted if Best Buy was open today 😅
First curved screen I could see of all of them I'd give any thought
I just don’t think I’d be able to properly play a game on that big of a screen 😅
Curved monitors are basically only for teenage content creators
Not really useful in day to day life
(Outside of working with actual screens you need to see all of)

what if I go with the straight one? I looked back at the list of monitors that thetruebacca showed me and it had the 32” gigabyte monitor on the list
If you go with a straight one make it one of the ones I linked
The Mini-LED one was only $10 more than the above one and wayyyyy better
No competition
I just checked reviews of any of the other curved screens I could find, all but one were a hard pass
The last one doesn't have enough reviews to make me comfortable suggesting
Mixed bag
There just isn't good curved at this bracket rn imo
What happened to the other monitor you showed? I only see the 2nd one you linked
Oh there it is
Wait what? I can’t buy it from there?

I think I found the same monitor on Newegg, but it’s $10 cheaper?
You actually did but with a better io
Well done
I'm impressed and I don't say that often
100% recommend it
It’s got a bad review though?
I think that’s the only review though tbh
Wait nvm I was looking at the picture review
The bad reviews are of the V varient
Oh wait
Interesting
Rtings gives that screen a really good rating though
No the reviews are red herrings
Some people are saying that it stays at 50% brightness and some are saying it didn’t even turn on
Can I see those reviews? 😅
I mean I'm fast filtering through webpages like reddit
There's not a whole lot of info
Oh ok no
I found a confirmed source
It's not Mini-LED
It's decent but it's not mini LED so it's a pass
Means you have to buy off B&H
@little osprey

Type of screen tech
You've heard of oled before right
Mini LED is like, the step below that
Yeah I don’t like how it looks
But way above many other panel tech
I mean it's the standout best monitor pick at this budget level, I don't know what else to say other than buy a separate monitor mount?
Nothing else comes close to the panel it has
No it’s the oled, I don’t like it, but also I was never told why the gigabyte monitors were bad
What is va though?
Decent colour, but blurry screen, meh responsiveness, lots of typical va problems like VRR flicker
If I sat down and actually explained these things in sufficient capacity we'd be here for at least an hour lmao
Just know that VA/TN is very old
IPS is usually better than that
MiniLED/QLED is often better than that despite being VA
And OLED stands above all else
With QD-OLED next to it
All those things are listed in a monitors sale article

here's the reference material on how every display tech works and what makes them great/less great
So I should look for ips?
Yes usually
Which are usually flat screens
But in your price bracket there's one Mini LED
Which is just plain better overall than the IPS picks
If it's available that one's also good yeah
The XV275U P3 is the one in discussion rn
oh
I kinda just skip all of Acer's monitors because the naming scheme is awful
I just plain dunno which is which
and that's how they trick you into buying a panel that you otherwise wouldn't buy
Yep
As you saw from me 10 minutes ago
Not falling for that old gag yes
I genuinely thought the V version was good
Turns out
Completely different panel
Despite near identical specs and the article itself saying Mini LED
Wow that's kinda scummy
*very
I mean it COULD be a mistake on part of whoever put the article together
Ofc
But that just accentuates why Acer's naming scheme is dogwater
ye
Q27G3XMN is my go-to rec cuz I actually know it's good lol
But Felix is more versed in displays than me
That one is also good but it costs 60 more for barely any better
ye value does diminish somewhat
A bad naming scheme is only to acer's benefit
again it's more to do with me actually knowing it's a proper mini-led one
Check this out on @Newegg:GIGABYTE - GS27QA SA - 27" IPS Gaming Monitor - QHD 2560x1440 - 180Hz - 1ms MPRT - AMD FreeSync - HDMI, DP - Black https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-gs27qa-sa-27-qhd-180-hz-super-speed-ips-black/p/N82E16824012083?tpk=1
you’ll probably say go with the mini led, but I really don’t like how that one looks (I’m just very picky, sorry about that 🥲😅)
But this one says it’s ips, is that better?
@cyan ravine
Go with the mini led
IPS is nicer than normal VA with better color accuracy, but mini led with the better contrast and local dimming is nicer than IPS
Contrast makes a world of difference imo
Deeper blacks with mini led really helps too
not quite oled since it's still less blacklights than each pixel itself being the emitter but still much better than classic lcd
Pcpartpicker is saying the panel type for that acer monitor is mini led va. What’s the difference between va and mini led va?
In general, classic VA uses a single backlight, mini led uses thousands of, well, mini leds for backlighting
It's a huge improvement because simple lighting leads to inconsistent colours and contrast
Whereas 384 individual little light zones vastly improve the accuracy
Instead of just 4-8 on each edge
It's like
Shining a torch vs shining a laser at something
And even when you order the right monitor there's a decent chance that you get sent a similar but wrong one
It allows for smaller areas to just be off for a more proper black with less bleed
which gives you better contrast between white and black
And the vastly better accuracy makes it a plain better pick than IPS despite still having a couple VA drawbacks
Cos the overall quality is just way better
how do y'all find good vas
Yea color accuracy is generally still worse than IPS on mini led still but it's better than VA
Start by accepting they only exist with Mini-LED or QLED
Yes
I've always thought of it as budget IPS
But in this case acer has a stupid cheap option that's actually amazing
👀
for a time before mini led
prices are very good in general right now
sales and all
there was a 1440p180 IPS panel for $110 for a little bit before it sold out
That's actually insane
how's the i5-10310u these days
People still use these?
thinking of grabbing a used laptop

You'll find a recent one
Theres a reason theyre cheap
not any that's cheaper than a 10th gen laptop

@cyan ravine when a motherboard says wifi on it, does that mean i dont need an antenna or ethernet connected to it? or do i still need something to connect it to the internet?
Wifi needs an antenna or it can't work
Ethernet needs a cable or it can't work
Almost all boards have ethernet
so its not like a laptop where everything is already built into it?
No it's not like a laptop or a phone where the antennas are hidden
If you try to not use antennae on a tower you get basically 10cm of signal range
And flakey 10cm at that
Motherboards will come with them
oh they do?

Do you already own the cpu
No
I would pick something else then
This is what bacca gave to me
Oh well if he suggested it I take it back
He has a better grasp on sales than me these days
I thought the board was 160
No it’s $140 right now
That's not bad then
Trying to buy everything before today is over so I can get some good deals and save a few hundred 😅
Well basically put that few hundred back into the protection plans in case something happens later down the road
Warranties only last so long
Protection plans are never worth it in my experience
If it lasts the standard 3 years then odds are you'll probably either upgrade or last the remaining 7
I changed a few things in his list like the ram, cpu, case, and cooler and asked bacca if the stuff I changed it to was good and he said yeah, except the cpu 😅
Put it this way, you are better off pocketing the difference to just spend on what breaks later
Preinvesting in a protection plan is like buying insurance with minimal benefit
Like house insurance
I suggested am5, he just wanted intel.
You never really use it, but maaayyyybbbbeeee you might be that one guy
I can see where it's going yeah, got the original list?
Not off hand
Hm alr
Well I mainly want the protection plans because of the power surge protection because I don’t want to do without if it happens, I had my ps5 fry from lightning striking near my house
Well I'll pick up on changes pretty quick
The odds of that is extremely lucky in and of itself
Get a UPS. You're much better off investing in a good surge protector than protection plans lmao
Yep
Every part has warranty through the manufacturer as is
Good power filtering >>>> protection insurance for specifics
Even accidental?
Yes
Depends
It's all about how you go about these things
For reference
I would never ever purchase a separate warranty for a piece of tech I'm buying
Same
You will very easily be able to buy a replacement with your savings instead
And that money is not tied down
It's much, much better.
Send me the list pls so I can review
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600K, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, Lian Li LANCOOL 216 RGB ATX Mid Tower
Oh id swap the psu. The gf a3 used to be good, felix just told me a day or two ago that thermaltake swapped the parts out
I dig that damn
Absolutely change that psu
Gf A3 is now a revised fire bomb
It used to be ok
I kinda agree where baccas head was at
Like an actual fire bomb?
Like actual
Dang guess it took too much thermal 😅
I can see what bacca likely suggested
Would've been 7600/XTX
This is just a gaming PC?
Yeah
Yeah I would go more with what he said
Take it from the guy who's tried almost every piece of hardware in the last 5 years
They work basically the same but the amd side of things has better value
I play Fortnite mostly and I don’t want to be having problems with Fortnite like stuttering and low fps drops
Fortnite has no issues with amd
Which ddr5 ram should I get, does it matter?
Any kit with 16gb per stick or more, cl32 or less, cheapest you can find it
That's how easy it is

I know you didn't have white but this is a cheaper, faster, white build, same quality
Let me go pull up a good example of why amd is actually fine on fortnite

why should I avoid corsair?
They have a history with vengeance of doing dodgy things with their ram kits
Mixing chips
Not testing kits properly
Dead on arrival stuff
Here
Good example
SP is pretty good
Just about all brands are good, just corsair seems to be really falling apart of late
They won the worst case award this year
💀
I have a range of DDR5 6000 to DDR5 8000, should I just do the cheapest?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 6600
Ah uk
no, that just shows up first link
I don't know why that is the top, I manually change it every time I open it
Do you like rgb
It will be in a black case, so it doesn't matter that much
Ez then
You already bought the 6600?
Also I'd not grab the 990 pro
Samsung is one of the worse picks nowadays for ssd
M482 Evo pack is solid, competitive to that and over half the price
Ah wait just over half now that it's not uk
$89 vs $160 for more or less the same performance, worth it right?
Multiple people have recommended against the 990 pro, I guess I might have to change
Ya it's just a poor value pick
I just don't want one giving out on me sooner
Understandable however
Samsung in their recent faulty SSD scandal
They uh
Didn't honour many warranties
💀💀
oh, fun
Ya
Highly recommend switching
You've probably read a couple articles
I saw thousands of faulty pro ssds
Quite a large number of them weren't accepted due to being filed after the fix rolled out, some before even
I say large but the number may be something like 3 figures
It's a lot of people though, many Reddit posts and Facebook stories
I don't even remember Intel having that many complaints
knowing my computer, I should I still do the ram you showed me?
Also, thanks for letting me know the extent of the samsung pro issue
All good
why?
is it just because I need a bigger one?
Some server applications are better with more ram
oh, the ram
No worries
All good lol
Just last question
Bought the 6600?
I own that same card just curious tho
yes
How much did you nab it for
I got that a couple of years ago
Ah
Ok, and you checked your PSU is ok?
These are lower power parts but I'll ask just in case
No, is there a way to check short of taking it apart?
If you know the exact name of it yeah
I don't
I know two people who were getting new computers, and I frankensteined them together
Ah
My current processor is a radeon
Do you remember what the PSU looked like
Maybe a brand, something labelled on the side
It can be quite important as just adding parts can have some crazy consequences
Should I open my computer and check parts like psu today??
which other parts should I check
PSU if you can
If you haven't bought the 7600x btw, get the 7600 instead
Literally same cpu
Just different out of the box settings
You can make one run like the other and vice versa
Plus 7600 has a cooler unlike the X
So you save a few dollars

PSU is important, but I don't see you needing much
A $53 apevia prestige 600W would cover both the cpu and gpu here
Decent quality unit
It's like a $3 diff rn and the x has a free mp44l w it on newegg
ok, thank you
7600x is 195 on newegg atm
for storage, I want two
so what should I get?
How's that look @finite drum
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LXP4qH
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 6600
PSU is there if you have a meh looking one rn
So optional depending on what you find inside
What's the old one look like
If it's an old amd one it should technically work but you'd want a decent tower at least
also, thank you for the help
Just seen a YouTube short saying not to buy the 7900xtx because of the limited ray tracing and saying you can barely overclock, I’d really prefer to just stick with the 4070 ti super, I’ve only ever messed with nvidia and know nothing about amd
But what if I want to play Minecraft with shaders?
It'll still run those
wait, which ssd di dyou recommend again? Two seperate 1 tb ones?
The mp44L is free with the cpu on Newegg rn
Yeah I skipped through the video, just basically talked about capping fps
The other one is the extra 1tb
Many other things as well
You don't run performance mode with any high end is a big one
You kneecap both cpu and gpu doing that
So you don't get the full leverage of performance
Yeah I always run my laptop on x12
Like buying a Ferrari but you use the cruise control to 60mph and buy only bread with it
Yes you should use dx12 pro at low settings
In dx12 fortnite is better on radeon
Everything is already low for me and view distance
Ya so you can dial things up if you aren't using the gpu all the way
Based on your descriptors here I'd go in fact 9800X3D + 7900XT
Much much better fps for what you want
Intel won't hold a candle
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
Just straight drop in like this
Is the mp44L reliable?
Yes
That’s the xt not the xtx
Ya but your budget is 1540-ish no?
Playing cpu bound games like fortnite you want a cpu that can leverage better cpu render rates
So 9800x3d makes wayyyyyy more sense than anything else
9800X3D + 4070 would get more fps than 4070TiS and 14600K
But the price of that cpu is a crazy amount
It's the best cpu for gaming hands down tho
You want good fortnite performance yeah?
It's the same as throwing 800 at a 4070TiS
You're doing it to boost your performance
Unless you play Fn at like, 8K the cpu will have a big impact on your needs
It's a cpu bound fps
I would take a 9800X3D + 4070 Super over 14600K + 4070TiS here
You'll get more fps
In both mc and fn
This says Fortnite is mostly gpu
Nope
Cos you play for high fps right
All those build fights, everyone plays for high fps
I don’t build
Cos once those start the fps tanks to nothing
I’m zero build
You play Fn but don't build?
Yeah I’m a zero build player
Nah screw pubg
Isn't the point of Fn building tho
Fortnite better
It was originally but I started after zero builds came out so that’s what I started with and stuck with, I know a bit of building to get me out of a predicament 😅
This is an odd play style but alr
I see
Well then it emphasises the point even more then
Cos the game works less hard if you don't build
So more cpu dependency
As long as you want high fps your answer will be cpu
If you want to play like, 8K 60fps get a 4070Ti and run maxed settings with a 7600
In a typical build the usual suggestions make sense but you're targeting a cpu bound game
Your use case favours more cpu power over gpu
Cos you want the cpu bottleneck to be as little as possible
Compare fortnite with something like Rainbow 6 and you'll see what I mean
I only play Fortnite and want to start Minecraft again
Many CPUs hit the 600 fps cap but certain CPUs go higher as they breach the IPC limit
Again it still applies
I'd do 9800X3D+7900XT or even 4070 Super
The cpu makes way too much sense for U man
Take it from again, the one guy here who's played with almost all the hardware architecture released in the last few years
I’ll get like 500-700 fps with the stuff I got now based on the videos I’ve seen 😅
So you'll get way more then with a better cpu
Thing is, if you become cpu bound, more gpu does nothing
You can't let the gpu do better without increasing settings and accepting the fps ceiling
But what if I want to start streaming for example and have multiple things open in the background? Like Netflix, YouTube, discord, or even just a bunch of random stuff
Both Radeon and NVIDIA does that just fine
I stream with radeon
It's no different to NVIDIA and nvenc
But the cpu handles that no?
No
The gpu encoder does
If you want to multitask a 9800X3D will have no issue
It has as much multicore performance as a 14600K to begin with
So...??
And you need not even half that to multitask anyway
But if it has as much multicore performance then why change it at all?
Because you'll get like 30% more fps in fortnite?
Something that no extra gpu power could do?
For $1500?
Why don't we try meeting in the middle here
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
You get NVIDIA, but you get the fps boost in much better fashion
I'd personally take a 7900XT tho
That pure performance would have it just shy of a 4080
Worth the $45
But now the pc is small
This last build definitely gets way more fps for your needs
Does it need to be big?
You're just gaming and streaming right
The extra motherboard size doesn't give you anything these days
The slots are all done cheap now, so they have minimal bandwidth
I already get 120-200 fps on my laptop I’d be fine with 500-700 fps heck you can only see 60 with the human eye can’t you?
No
24 is perceived motion
60 is perceived fluidity at a standstill
In fast paced action 60 is like a flip book
Lol
You're swinging around, aiming, checking corners like mad, all that you easily see fps differences
If you only want 200 fps then you should stick with the laptop no?
Yeah so that’s like the max you can really see 😅 and everything else you just kinda notice that there is a difference
You definitely notice if you're trying to line up a reticle
No I want the ability to play other games with a keyboard without having to worry about wearing out my laptop keyboard, I had a laptop before that was barely able to run Minecraft Java, and I wore out the aswd keys and w didn’t even work anymore so I couldn’t play except hook up an external keyboard to it
And I won’t have to worry about running out of storage space either
Nah
Mod the laptop with a 4tb SSD, buy a good keyboard like a bridge75, done
Ez
$400
Instead of $1600
Laptop can barely handle having a game and discord open and websites open, I told you I’m very picky 😅
I5-13420h or whatever it is
Have you tried debloating windows
But I only bought the laptop because I was in college and needed a laptop and wanted to play games as well
I don’t even know what you just said. Debloating?
Eh screw it just buy a new pc
That answers that then
Debloating is removing most of the telemetry and background crap in a windows install
All the extra unnecessary stuff that gets in the way of an actually well performing pc
Debloating is well worth trying, you run a debloat script, it'll disable a LOT of useless windows stuff, then you also go through and disable a lot of programs you don't need constantly running
It frees the cpu right up, breathes new life
Well worth a 20 minute exercise
Intel is literally just 3 generations ahead
Yeah 13420h is arguably still really good
and the latest one is a huge dissapointment
and consistently worse than it's previous generation so it doesn't really count
So yeah do a debloat first and cut down on apps you don't use
Yeah I’ve deleted a bunch of the apps I wasn’t going to use when I first got it
Still doesn’t really do much when games are hundreds of gb
well yeah that's a storage issue you can solve with the ssd like felix said
what we're suggesting is more for performance
Ok yeah you have a cpu with as much multicore power as the cpu both me and bacca originally suggested, 7600
You have a windows issue
oh jesus
yeah if it's a 7600 it's def somethin wrong lol
Go here >>> #windows-ios
Check the pins
Run one of the debloat tools there
Try that for a day
And nuke any background programs that are useless for your day to day
Things like running teams or 30 chrome tabs just cos will definitely eat into your games
If it works then you're better off just buying a keyboard
As I thought, cart before the horse here
Nah I don’t like compact screens when I game unless it’s a phone game
You have a cpu with more multicore than my own laptop and I have absolutely no issue with multitasking
Buy a monitor too
Easy fix still
Cart before the horse
If you're happy with 200fps but you're also wanting a big screen just clean the laptop and use a monitor
Not trying to be mean here lad but I've picked your brain for nearly an hour here and I'm noticing moving goal posts
Why buy a monitor if it’s got one built in, I don’t want to play on a laptop, laptop sucks, something breaks you got to send off the whole thing to get it fixed. Pc breaks, just buy new part for it
😁
We don't need to play 20Q with a pure desire here
But your laptop sounds like it can be made better with 20 minutes of sanitising
Been wanting one for like 10 years
Well that's fine if you do but I do think the research takes it's merit
I'm pretty qualified to help here I'm an ex eSports player, coach and I've built and helped thousands of people make PC's down to the exact stuff you want to do
I know pretty well what your objectives are if you want a good pc
We haven't even talked OLED, sensor quality in mice, types of keyboards yet
This is a whole rabbit hole
And many different things play a role over the number of fps and whether it has ray tracing
I don't mind yielding but you need to be more clear
Yeah but it’s my first pc and I wanted it customized by me a little bit instead of being totally made by someone else 😅, that’s why I took what bacca gave me and kept asking him if that stuff I changed it to was good
Good is subjective
People in the PC community are very specific, asinine (as you've probably noticed with me) and have strong views
But they all have a person's best interests in mind
Good as will it work, good on price, and not have anything wrong with it that I should know about it while also still looking good like the rgb 😁
Anyone can pick any pc part and say "this is good" but if there is something better for a good reason it's gonna be brought up
You don't need to spend a fortune to look good tho
People vastly overestimate comical things
Ray tracing actually makes a lot less of a difference than people think it does
And that's just RT
Frame gen is now getting put in games cos "people want it" not knowing it adds 60ms of latency to every single action
You could talk nvenc having a quality codec when Intel's quick sync and amd's dual codec can do just as well in the standard h.265 and av1 these days
I'm not trying to bully here don't mistake me
Just broaden your perspective as to why you weren't getting suggested certain things
