Also did you mean to use agl 750
Heh, it probably is worth a bump now
It's incrementally getting faster
Just bc same price why not
Lol
Funny how I called this happening too
So it'd look like
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qPycn6
Part List - Intel Core i7-14700KF, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, MagniumGear Neo Air 2 ATX Mid Tower
The smart people all know when it’s time to be nerdy about making a list
War's won through a lotta advisors, or something
What do you think of the case tho
Have I made sense about the whole, intel power limits thing? Cos you may well want to consider jumping to amd if not
Could also avoid intel
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yrJxJy
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 7900, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, MagniumGear Neo Air 2 ATX Mid Tower
It's aight. We're looking into it right now. I don't understand the BIOS updating thing but I can learn it
If gaming, 7900x3d
The options are update BIOS and enforce power limits on Intel, or do some software tweaking to get 7900X3D to behave. Either way we can walk you through it.
What's the pc being used for? I missed that
Mostly gaming, some CAD and Solidworks on the side.
It's like a windows update but you use a usb and you do it before you reach windows
Bios is like, the operating system, under the operating system
Nah I've done something like that in the past, can't be that hard
Ah alr
It's real name is AMI UEFI usually for consumer
7800x3d would be perfectly adequate imo
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, MagniumGear Neo Air 2 ATX Mid Tower
Probably. Depends on just how much fluid sim you'd be running in solidworks.
That in particular is brutal on the CPU, using 20+ threads
Surely there's a matching board for the case under 170
Not with wifi
The wifi and bluetooth are must haves
This was my pick for AMD board https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CvcgXL/gigabyte-b650-eagle-ax-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-eagle-ax
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/szfxFT/msi-b650-gaming-plus-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-gaming-plus-wifi
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CvcgXL/gigabyte-b650-eagle-ax-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-eagle-ax
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CFzhP6/msi-pro-b650-p-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-pro-b650-p-wifi
Boop
All 3 good
Hssssss MSI Hsssssss

(I'm biased now, thanks for killing my CPU, MSI, hope you enjoy me not recommending you again)
Something tells me he had a good msi board experience in the past
Survived a psu killing 3 sets of ram and cpus
And then gets the best ddr5 ambient frequency
💀
At the time anyway
If he didn’t do the white board bacca put in that list which one would you put
A BIOS update that was recommended by both AMD and MSI for security fixes ended up forcing 1.4v into my CPU under load and it just locked up and died
Out of these, eagle ax
Imo I'd take b650m pg riptide with a wifi card and usb bluetooth
Ax200 for $21 m.2
Did he not like pro rs wifi?
It does not
Lol
Need an adapter then maybe
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, MagniumGear Neo Air 2 ATX Mid Tower
Or just pcie wifi card
I'm thinking black. Not super about the RGB lifestyle
Check that build out then
We have almost 0 rgb here
Actually this might be better
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6MjBD3/asus-pce-ax1800-80211abgnacax-pcie-x1-wi-fi-adapter-pce-ax1800
Our usual recommendation palette is definitely not big on rgb, price first
Not really sure what the diff is between ax1800 and ax210s
There's a lot more than 1800
If I had to use my extensive knowledge as elected techie
Do none of the boards have inbuilt wifi?
The 170 ones above do ye
B650m-a wifi too
^
Only 2 m.2s, if you might need a lot of storage 3 is nice
Willing to get that I need controllers and wifi
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, MagniumGear Neo Air 2 ATX Mid Tower
Part List - Intel Core i7-14700KF, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, MagniumGear Neo Air 2 ATX Mid Tower
Changed 14700kf board
Remember this: #cpus-mobo-and-memory message
Power Limit: 255W
Current Limit (ICCmax): 200A
Bios update before you set those things
We're here if you get stuck in the process
We also have links to tutorial vids for building if you need it
AMD one looks real nice. Thanks for all the help everyone!
Np
I believe he may not be making a move on parts for another few weeks, if that 4070 ti open box isn’t an option, would looking at a GRE or 4070s prob be his best bet?
What do you have rn
Thinking the most recent AMD setup
If you want to that's fine
Tho just a fair warning, what you gain in gaming performance on the x3d you take a big dip out of multicore performance not picking the i7
You could do 7900x3d for 400
But...
It comes with tricky caveats
It's kinda a power user cpu
Same goes for the 4070 vs the GRE, you'll get better gaming performance but worse workstation performance
What do you have rn
As in the list?
The gpu
Like I said wrkstation is more of an afterthought. I don't plan on working from home anytime soon.
I think that refurb 4070ti, for trauts list, I have a 6950XT if that’s what you’re asking
Use 6950
The difference is close enough that the small extra on the nvidia card is kinda worth
The way I see it
You finish your degree, start work
You don't need a new pc yet, cos it was already tailored
Gives you potentially more years to save up for something better
You're not giving up like 20% fps going team green lol
It's more like
5%
On the other hand going ryzen over intel, you are giving up a lot of multicore
In the realm of almost halving it for maybe 5-10% more fps
In exchange you also use a lot less power tho
As far as your workstation impact, this would be a noticeable difference, however you lose the ability to upgrade with the mobo, something that AM5 gives
So the choice would be your call there, both are competent, really all are competent, but the more you cater to workstation imo the better off you'll be later
Especially when you go into later subjects in your degree that ask for wfh projects
Or late night work in your first apprentice job or contract
I feel you on that. I gotta lot to think about so I'm gonna sleep on it
Yea for sure
It's a big purchase, take your time with it
Bookmark the lists, we'll be around if you have questions
Yeah I got em saved. Thanks for the assist
Whichever way you pick, just remember it's not really wrong, just each caters to your needs differently
When you have the money check back in here too so we can update for current deals
Alright
Hi I have the B550M Mortar Wifi motherboard but when I did reformat I cant connect to wifi
Like I need to connect it by ethernet
Any chance how I can connect it to wifi instead ?
I cant detect wifi even tho I have a motherboard that supports wireless wifi connection
You gotta download and install wifi drivers
But before I was able to connect to wifi without downloading that
During my first boot
How to enable wifi adapters in bios ?
Where can I find that? Is it the chipset driver ?
Not chipset
But WLAN drivers
Or wireless lan
Whatever it may say
The wifi chip on your board is always enabled by default, but sometimes you need to manually install drivers
Would this case choke this build?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
(Ignore the case in the build, that’s the case I’m buying for them if this one doesn’t do good enough)
Thank you @obsidian wigeon it works now
It will
And it doesn't look big enough to fit modern gpus
F
That's ancient designs for you
Would it choke my build?
2080ti *
The case just looks cool, and I wanna modify it for the present day(like increasing airflow+light strips)
It potentially could
Put come c12 fans in place of whatever comes with
Replace the mesh with something more efficient
Make it a project.
GPU would be fine because side vent but CPU... you might want to remove the optical drive cage and put a fan there
The other side is glass.
Good idea
@potent portal would replacing the glass with a big fine mesh screen help?
You could also modernize the front IO with a module that slots into the optical bay
No
Explain
Oh wait
This would be pointless
Airflow needs a direction
Brain fart
That's a more fancy example
A bit more basic because fewer ports and no QC3 https://www.amazon.com/GRAUGEAR-Internal-Required-Computer-G-MP01/dp/B09XV6XDLJ
That one slots into an external 3.5" bay
This one looks like the best, due to the storage device compatibility.
Only 2 of the ports are 3.0+ though

Well, I’d still have the back.
Getting a more modern MB would give me more 3.0 ports
Those are good for permanently placed devices at least
Like a keyboard/mouse
Pain in the butt to plug/unplug things like flash drives
No that would still be functional
That standard hasn't changed
Here's a good one https://www.ebay.com/itm/384245171740
This is a multi-functional card reader that features three USB 3.0 ports, one type-c port, 6 card slots. Users can transfer files easily and quickly with high speed USB 3.0/Type-C interface. It can be easily mounted into 5.25" drive bay of your computer case for added card reading capabilities.
how much is a good price for 7500f
Sub $160, preferably under 150
7600 is the same cpu with an igpu for $190 new right now, and the 7600 comes with a stock cooler
And what ram is good for it? ddr4 3600mhz cl16?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
Check that out
Mobo with wifi
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qcbRsY/asrock-b650m-pro-rs-wifi-micro-atx-am5-motherboard-b650m-pro-rs-wifi
With ddr5 16gb tanks performance
Because it's either 1x16 or 2x8, and 8gb sticks of ddr5 kneecap performance by up to 40%
And a single stick of ddr5 isn't as bad as a single stick was with ddr4 and earlier, but it still affects performance noticeably
Well by going with a 7500f the price of my build goes up by at least $150
12400f still $130?
Tbf 7500f with 16gb ddr5 still beats the 12400f by a pretty noticeable amount
12600k on ddr5 about matches 7500f
12400f on ddr4 slightly beats 5600
Well I'd be willing to go with 7500f but is it possible to shave down the cost a lil
Like do i need a $129 motherboard
Or are the lower end ones not gonna cut it for a 7500f
It's the cheapest mobo I'd suggest honestly, but nearly any mobo is fine for the 7500f
One sec lemme look
Well
First let's take a step back
What is your entire budget for the parts you are buying
And do you currently own anything
Part List - Radeon RX 6750 XT
$10 cheaper, can handle a 7950x
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fMcgXL/gigabyte-a620m-gaming-x-micro-atx-am5-motherboard-a620m-gaming-x
This is what I want to roll with (stuff i bought marked with "purchased") and im not tryna spend more than $700
$75, as barebones as it gets. I would maybe trust this with up to a 7700x (and 7800x3d since it pulls less power than the 7700x)
Im not upgrading my cpu
Hmm
This pc is saying goodbye after it serves its time in my dorm
Ah ok
dont really plan on upgrading anything inside it tbh
Would you be willing to spend 10-20min changing ram settings in bios?
Yeah thats in my wheelhouse
asrock b650m h/m.2+
So it would run fine out of the box but to fine tune it would take 10-20min
fine tune the timings
Yeah, and it'll run better than a 6000c30 expo
There's youtube tutorials on exact timings to set to as well, you don't even need to do any of the hard work
Sounds good
@potent portal had a link to one
and you said performance takes a huge hit unless you go with 2x16 or more?
The mobo is unfortunate imo, but
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rRhtfy
Part List - Radeon RX 6750 XT, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
Yeah
Otherwise I'd just drop to lga1700
Especially since you don't care about upgradability
Oh this doesn't have a cpu cooler
I think i'd rather go with this than a 12400f
Damn
Only an extra $20 or so right
Im selling a ton of my tech stuff on facebook marketplace so i can just use that to cover costs too
It's $260, 4gb less vram and 10% worse performance
That works
What card would you recommend
I had an asus dual 6600 before but i havent kept up with which models are better
Part List - Radeon RX 7600, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
Looks good
If you then wanted to get a better mobo
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LVRTcH
Part List - Radeon RX 7600, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
Also, how do you feel about open box/refurb gpus?
Yo lowkey
thats fine i buy used parts for builds sometimes
$750 and 9% off on top of that
that looks good but i'd probably end up wanting to swap out the 3060 and then i have to go and try to sell it on hws
I could go either way between that and this parts list
That's fair, it's not much worse than the 7600 though
Eh actually
I take that back
3060 12gb is around 30% worse than 6750xt
So def a noticeable downgrade
Yeah i'm looking for more gpu performance rather than cpu performance
What're ya doing with the pc? Gaming?
Ya thats about it
Im honestly debating going with a 12400f but i need to see how much cheaper it is first
Any used/open box gpus I'm seeing are the exact wrong choices lol
Unfortunately after cooler only like $35 or $40
Wait
That's not right
At least $100 i'd hope
Part List - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 7600, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
Lmao
If you end up looking at used options, 5700xt or 1080 ti are the goto cheap options for great perf
I was trying to find a 1080ti on ebay but i kinda gave up after losing 3 auctions in a row
Other than that anything that's similar to 7600 or better would be 2070 super+, 6600xt+, 3060 ti+
5700xt should be pretty easy to find
Esp on hws
Games are needing better gpu performance these days right
Like when new games come out a better GPU would probably give you more frames than a better CPU
Ehh
Depends
12400f would be fine if that's what you mean
But 7500f would certainly make a difference
Imo more of a difference than 7600 to 6750xt
well i'm using a 9400f rn so im not sure if a 12400f would be very exciting
it's a considerable bump
even a 9700k (which my brother has) is outperformed by a 12400f when I had it
upgraded to a 13500 though
This is a rough comparison
It's a benchmark, and benchmarks are very diff from games, but general idea
I think i'd rather spend a lil more money for the ddr5 boost seeing as im gonna have this thing for a couple years
i can just make back the money this summer quickly anyways
better than regretting not going for ddr5
yeah I regret getting this 13500 lol
Link to what now? Link to the Past?
could've just sold my mobo, cpu, and ram and gotten a 7700x bundle from microcenter lol
i've had one too many regrets in my pc upgrade pathway so im just gonna bite the bullet here
are gamemax cases any good? i keep seeing them online but i've never actually used one in a flip before
Some good some bad, just like most brands
Solid plastic front panels I do not recommend, even for low end builds
Ok so this should be fine then
similar case but mesh front
Only includes one fan so make sure to get more (or reuse old ones)
Otherwise that would be fine
I have a 3 pack of thermalright ones
C12C? Perfect
ya
So the Ryzen 5 is seemingly roughly better, but the i5-12400 is very very close. What is the cost comparison of the two?
I accept donations through my mailbox
Oh i was planning on an airdrop onto your roof, guess i'll have to pass
I don’t think I could bring an entire pc to a college tbh
I’d be worried that someone would break in
But that probably isn’t a problem for 99.99% of colleges
ill just get a kensington lock and chain it to my bed 😈
my building is protected by id cards tho so if your dorm isnt in the building idk if you can enter
If you're in the dorms then break ins are rare because the entry is access restricted. Only residents can open the front door, so if you do get broken into it's probably one of the neighbors so the dorm manager can inspect everyone's rooms looking for it.
As a former amazon driver I hated dorms. Someone had the bright idea to put a locker inside the front door... where I didn't have access and it was late so everyone was in bed and couldn't let me in
Dang
The only college I’ve ever been to was Penn State. The big one. In State College, PA.
Back when I went to visit, in the mid 2010s, there were only locks for the building. But anyone with a swipe card could enter.
then the Jerry Sandusky thing happened
Ayo
I also had a 50 pound box I had to carry up 4 flights of stairs to get to a dorm. I hate dorms.
Wtf is 50lbs from amazon
Good guess
Maybe a microwave
I’ve been told thanks by our delivery drivers because, due to my fiancé, we have a ramp across what would be stairs
So they don’t have to go up and down stairs to get to our place
Rice kekw
Not a bad guess but I can tell when it's rice/dog food/etc because of the sound it makes
I used to get 25lb bags of rice delivered to me
And we get chewy packages for animal food every month. That’s like 75lbs.
Buying rice for the whole floor
It says this on my pcpp build, how should I got about fixing/dealing with this?
Do i have to buy an adapter
Which build
Part List - Radeon RX 6750 XT, Asus Prime AP201 MicroATX Mini Tower
That board doesn't have the header for USB C so that front port won't be usable. If you're ok with that then no adapter needed.
I've never used my front port either. I could use it to charge my phone with a C to C cable I guess.
true, rather use a higher wattage wall outlet brick tho
50lb weight
What’s more bang for your buck 7900 Xtx or 7900 gre
It was a pretty big box, weights would be smaller.
Ram tuning yt vid
Oh the ryzen easy timings?

Yo
Mining gpus, but mining does not hurt a gpus lifespan if done correctly, and anyone with this large scale of an operation knows what they're doing
They used that to mine with? Not a horrible idea actually
They're really low power
They also have very good vram
very good
Sips mobile 3070 did +1700mhz iirc
And had better efficiency than a desktop 3070
If I remember how it was explained to me (not by sips) since the gpus are worse in the laptops, they gave them high bin vram to give a bit of a boost
Not sure if it's the same on any other series
Recommendations on mobo? I’m trying to build a 4k gaming computer cheaply. Thinking Asrock B650M Pro RS Wifi, 7800x3d, 7900xtx
Pro RS is a good option
Livemixer is good too if you want full ATX
You'd have to add your own wifi module though
I’m not opposed to Livemixer, but the orange…
It's an acquired taste for sure
I got it because I don't look at my PC all that often
I decided to go RGB with this build but cheaply so I got thermalright fans
I only have the fans and case so far. I got the Phanteks P400a so I bought two c14c and one c12c
Nice
Yeah, whatever the argb version is called
For 4k I wouldnt bother with 7800x3d
Since there’s a dust filter on top I decided to do intake fans on the top instead of exhaust cause we also have a cat
Would 7600 be enough?
Yeah
Yeah that's true, 4K you can save some money and get 7600. Or if you know you're doing things that want more cores, 7700X.
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower
He already has a p400a digital and fans
Ah mb
I’m waiting until I’ve saved enough where I can pull the trigger on the CPU and mobo and ram and PSU in case I need to RMA something
Smart
The CPU has an iGPU you can use to set things up while you wait for the GPU as well
Do you have a monitor alr?
Yeah. LG something something I bought a few years ago
1080p?
4k
Ah
They've got decent enough 4k stuff in the budget-ish range
I’ve used it for 4k gaming up to this point. I don’t remember exact specs but I’ll look
Should be in windows display settings, all of the above
Is it 27 or 32 inches
32
Is this it maybe?
32GQ750-B
No, I got a 60 Hz one cause I mainly use it for work but also for gaming
Do you play any first person shooters or the likes?
Not much
The difference between 60 and 100+ is like night and day, you can't go back especially for online gaming
Honestly it even helps my eye strain when doing long research sessions for school
I mostly play casually with friends when I have the chance
Maybe upgrade at some point but it’s not the highest priority for me at the moment
Yeah just something to keep in the back of your mind
Right now my goal is to be able to play Borderlands 3 in 4k ultra
Could do something like 1440p 165hz IPS for $180-200, and swap between the two for diff use cases
I might swap out my 1080p display for a 2k monitor. I have considered that
I feel like a 7900 gre could do that fairly easily
That'd be a great idea
I use both monitors for work
I did consider going the 7900xt or GRE route too
I feel like AMD GPUS will continue to come down?
They will a bit more but probably not much until next gen fully launches end of this year into early next year
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a bit more demanding on the GPU
We've seen 7900xtx refurb iirc around $750
buying the GPU now for me isn’t crucial. I can use the iGPU until I can afford it
4080 open box is consistently under $900
I was thinking going AMD because vram
There's like 6 7900xtxs for $820 open box on wegg
That's fair, at 4k 16gb is plenty for now but I'm not sure about, say, 3 years down the line
(16gb on 4080)
I feel if I can get 24 for same price and RT seems like mostly a gimmick for right now, plus I don’t want to pay Nvidia tax
Indeed there's few games that can take advantage of any real kind of ray tracing
Relevant titles include Minecraft and Cyberpunk 2077... and that's about it right now
And Cyberpunk brings a 4090 down to its knees in tears if you enable it
Overkill but a good unit
850 would be fine with an xtx?
Sure, decent enough
Could save a little money and get https://www.newegg.com/team-32gb/p/N82E16820331848
[Product Features] [DDR5 Unleashes Game-Changing Performance] Experience even faster frequencies, greater capacities, and lower voltages with the latest release in our series, the DDR5 UDIMM module. Take your gaming abilities to new heights with turbo speeds of 6000 MHz. It's available in 328GB (...
If you prefer G.skill because of the lifetime warranty then I don't blame you, it's only a couple of dollars more
silicon has the same warranty, no?
I was also thinking 64 GB for dev work in case I want to play around with unreal engine or something but I haven’t found myself using all 64 GB on my laptop.
48GB is a nice middle ground
Same performance as 32GB, going to 64GB cuts your speed
Ah, ok
depends
Ripjaws S5 is a powerful DDR5 DRAM memory series consisting of hand-tested memory ICs that have passed G.SKILL's rigorous validation tests. Each Ripjaws S5 memory kit offers an ideal balance between performance, compatibility, and stability and is available in matt black or matte white aluminium ...
if youre not gonna ram tune, 64gb is fine if you need the extra ram
it's not much more than 48gb A die
Suggestions on SSDs? I was looking at the MP33 or 34 Teamgroup options
that's samsung though, no?
1tb, 2tb, or 4tb
Me with my corsair 48GB kit
(it was free, but i digress)
I have no experience with the samsung 24Gb die
2tb or 4tb
These are good gaming drives but professionals might want PCIe 4.0 drives like Bacca linked
I’m not a pro, just looking to maybe do a little Android dev work on the side sometimes
The emulation would obliterate my 16 GB of ram I used to have on my laptop
You can get away with the cheaper MP33/MP34 option then, or SP A60, whatever is cheaper when you buy
Yeah, I also considered this one
I hadn't looked into it before but yes
Not transferrable as far as I can tell, g.skill is transferrable
Which only matters to the person you sell it to later
is this a scam
"purchase from an unauthorized reseller or retailer" is explicity a reason they void warranty
https://www.silicon-power.com//web/warranty
oh nvm
yo, Im building my first pc and im just making sure i have everything i need and making sure everything is compatible so if someone is willing to help me that would be great
Sold and shipped by amazon
oops doxxed myself
Yeah that's a scam
yeah
ight bet
I recommend putting your part choices into https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ so it's easier to work with and it will tell if things are incompatible in any way as well
Choose Your Parts
Tf can i not put pictures in chat
No you need to rank up to green name for that
no
You’re new
i have my pc built on pc picker and it says everything is compatible
^^^
make sure the list is viewable
i sent it too u
link it
i would suggest some changes
okay
we could hop in a call if that would be easier
im trying to get it all done and figured out before college
okay
Nah I'm hopping over to a game but I'll keep you on second screen
well im trying to make it the best i can and im on a tight budget so
fal what was the total for the list
What you see is what I got
$1617.66
thats the totall
on a budget of 1700
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech SKY TWO ATX Mid Tower
can do more white without spending more too
can add an aio and or the other case if you like the styler
Thermalright assassin evo is like $20 and from what I hear it cools the 7800x3d just fine. Haven’t tested myself though. But GN put it through the paces
The 7800X3D works perfectly fine on the Wraith stock cooler bundled with the 7600
ye it can
i just want a pc thats gonna last me through college and also that can runs games smoothly and wont blow up on me... im a huge tarkov player and rust aswell so as long as it runs those games ill be happy
\
what about madden and tarkov and stuff
Are you running in 4k?
loves x3d and amd gpus
They like X3D for sure, GPU is indifferent iirc
i had a really crap computer and it wouldn't even run madden 24.. my stuff would crash
this pc will run any game
iirc?
If I remember correctly
7900xt should run a lot of games in 4k even.
I forget sometimes that people don't exclusively speak in shorthand english
so if i buy all this thats on here. it will all work properly with no problems.
Yeah, that looks like a super solid build
Very solid build
far better gpu
MUCH better GPU for one
and a radeonn? i never heard about that kind of graphics card
AMD instead of Nvidia card
Don't think that bro, they don't make an easy manual for all this, it's a space dominated by marketing and pretty looks lol
Everyone learns from somewhere
Don't hesitate to ask anything lol
is there any better cases tho? i really liked that all glass case
sky two is all glass
NZXT H9 Flow ATX Mid Tower Case
(29 Ratings, 4.9 Average)
instead of having that block view on the edge
Ah, sky two is actually very similar
king 95
H9 isn't a good case since, while it ticks a lot of acceptable boxes, it costs some 50% more than equivalent cases from others
It's basically an o11 with worse fans
I also got my phanteks case for around this price point
any good options on thermal compound? do i need to get that or does the cpu come with it?
The cooler should come with it
The cooler comes with
And it should be perfectly fine
alright sorry for all the questions
It's why we're here, we don't mind the questions
They just give you a pretty website and tell you to buy their products lol
Yeah, and all the marketing can be really stupid
I for one am happy to help make gaming more accessible to people that would otherwise struggle
Hard to know what’s actually good
Throwback to the Aorus "3D cooling" campaign they did with their 3080's and 3090's
yeah i had a cyberpower for 5 years didn't do anything to it and a few days ago it started to smell like smoke
Like yuh, the whole world is 3D
💀
It was something really stupid, derbauer made a video on it
They're notorious for using really bad power supplies
I own an ROG Strix laptop but after the recent Gamers Nexus videos I’ll be staying away from Asus
Well see all you need to do is never have a problem with it
yo i mess with the Cooler Master cpu coolers. is there anything like that i could get instead of the other one?
Why didn’t I think of this
Most of the CM coolers rn are pretty plain
Like an AIO? The one with tubes?
Not really better, often worse for more
Thermalright does cooler master better than cooler master does itself
yeeeeee the tubes with the thing at the end lmao

I avoid AIOs cause I just don’t wanna mess with water cooling. But that’s me
Frozen edge time
thats whater cooling?
Same
Haha you’re good
wao tuh
i fw that. looks like scuba mouth gear
lol it does
would I need to add anything else to the pc since its water cooling? if thats gonna be super hard to setup ill just not do it.
Here's the pcpp link so you can add it to list right https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bMyH99/thermalright-frozen-edge-69-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-fe240-black
AIO stands for All In One, everything you need is included and for the most part already attached, filled, etc.
do i need to change the water or anything inside of it?
About every 5 years or so
It's a closed loop so there's less evaporative loss than an open loop, which you would flush about every 6 months
and its not actual water right? it's like a special liquid
It's usually distilled water mixed with glycol and additives
but i wouldn't need to worry about changing it for awhile
Right
aios aren't meant to be refilled
u mind if i add yall and keep u updated?
lifespan is typically 3-6 years
thats true
but, from yall's pov the parts yall picked out would put me up to date with everything that's out right now.
Yep, that's a high end build for sure. You'll be running more fps than I am.
alright! yo thank yall so much i graduate HS next week and i'm gonna order the parts around that time. and when they get here i will let you know!!!
Awesome! Congrats!
much appreciated.
whats the best ATX case for cheap?
That is a highly subjective question, but I can toss a couple options at you
Cougar MX330-G ATX Mid Tower Case vs. DIYPC S3-BK-ARGB ATX Mid Tower Case vs. Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower Case
If all you really need is cheap, just about anything with a mesh front will do. Solid front panels choke off the air supply to your parts resulting in very high temps.
Gamemax M60 was like $30 yesterday
mATX case with mesh side panel so should work with most things
One of the few things gamemax have remotely worth considering
Might try for a 3070
Hopefully im not too late, thx for the link
motherboard box frfr
price: free with motherboard
cons: open air design may cause dust buildup faster
pros: open air design keeps parts cool
is my cpu good idling at around 45 degrees?
Completely normal

yes
but with your cpu, you don't even need to do that
maybe turn pbo on at most lol
what's best MB for Ryzen 5 7600X and 4070 ti Super?
What's your budget for the whole build
1500$
Mind if I ask you some questions and put a list together?
Do you have a microcenter nearby? Do you have any preference for size or aesthetics, what's the pc being used for, do you need wifi or do you have access to ethernet
And do you have any preference between nvidia/amd?
Here's what I came up with rq
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower
7800x3d puts it just over $1500
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3BBLRK
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower
i got microcenter but Newegg is cheaper i only want it for preference , gaming and coding maybe i got an ethernet
For cpu mobo and ram, microcenter has bundles that are super cheap
Grab the 7700x or 7800x3d bundle from them, I'll make a list around one
Ryzen 5 7600X not better for me? bec i use it for gaming most of the time
Theyre similar, but the 7700x bundle is $370
7600x is $180, and a mobo is $130-150
Ram is $95
So the 7700x bundle comes out cheaper and better
ya but the prices where i live is different
?
If you're not in the US you don't have microcenter access
Which is fine I can work with that too
u mean ryzen 5? or 7?
7700x is an 8 core ryzen 7
7600x is a 6 core ryzen 5
They perform within a few % of eachother for gaming
Just if you have mc access 7700x is a no brainer
i know some one lives there but idk if the shipping and the tax will be same price that i would buy where i live
Can I ask what country you're in?
saudi arabia
it's like the 4070 ti super is for 1050$ but in the us is 800$
What about the 7900xt
And I would say something like 7600 with the stock cooler, the cheapest mobo between pg riptide, pro rs, eagle ax, plus wifi, livemixer, and m-a wifi
Those are what comes to mind, there's probably some others
The cheapest 6000mhz cl32 or lower kit
1tb ssd model isn't too important but I wouldnt grab the cheapest you can find
We have a tier list pinned in #cases-psu-and-cooling for power supplies, id grab the cheapest A or B tier 750-850
Case, whatever has a mesh front
ya maybe i will save the cooler for later and go with the b650m pro rs
Anyone know of a good, well as good as can be pre-built pc for as close to $800 as possible? My sister is looking to get into some light gaming, probably mostly indie games and roblox. Ty for any help
You were asking if you should make a cheap PC to learn PC building right? This is the perfect opportunity
@dusky hearth I was yes, unfortunately my sister is a couple states away and I can't ship it to her
Oof, out of stock and 19 people have it in their cart
Ahh oh well
Ah mb
It's all good, it's not a super big rush or anything
She will probably look it over as well and see if she likes it
Would a GTX 1650 or an RTX 3050 be better?
Little hesitant to trust amazon but someone linked me this
3050 should be better
Around double even in game benchmarks apparently

Tbh idk if that is a good deal or not
That cpu is quite old
It released 9 years ago
Well
Compared to the eBay listing bacca sent, this in comparison seems like a horrible deal
Just got linked it, was wondering how good it was
$699 for that is a huge rip off
That's why I'm so hesitant to trust amazon
1650 and 3050 are a hard pass in 2024
Amazon rips people off majorly
Yeah, my sister wants to get a decent/good pc mainly for light gaming around 800 dollars
Not really just like any platform that has 3rd party sellers there are gonna be sellers with horrible prices since they might as well try get a lot of money out of someone
If she's scared of building

Laptops have no shipping risk, standard warranty and a screen, battery and keyboard instead of a laboured assembly price
^
They're effectively better priced prebuilts
Hmm, if there is a decent/good one for around that price I can try to talk to her about it. She can not build her own, it'd be a massive waste of time and money
Laptops can also come with accident protection warranties
Idk, that last statement makes me think there's an element of chaos here
I know even less about gaming laptops than I do desktops though, most of the ones I've seen always sound like airports and overheat easily
If you pick well and take a bit of care, they won't have heat issues these days
She isn't very good at putting most stuff together, and her son(my nephew) who is very young would likely try to help her
Ask me the same question 4 years ago however I'd have a different answer
If your sister knows how to plug in a PC
She's already ahead of the crowd on tech knowledge frfr
Laptop would be safer around a kid imo
Not prone to tipping
Glass and weight involved
hands you $5
Oops accidentally tipped you
Some of the gaming laptops I'm seeing in various places look better than a lot of pre-built desktops
Best buy can be a good start to check out
Damn that tipping hazard
Bacca also knows a lot of ebay deals
Newegg itself isn't really the spot for a good laptop deal tbh
BB tends to get good 4060/4050 laptops around the $800 mark, a 4060m will be about as good as a 4060 desktop
Give or take
4050 is like almost 3060
Though, I would argue that you have a bigger risk because if the child does damage the laptop, it's much more expensive to fix that
I would be more worried about a youngin tipping a tower off a table or desk tbh lol
Like, if you spill water or another drink on the keyboard, it's not just going in the keeb
A laptop falling is a lot less weight and a lot less harmful to the kid
Also you could put the PC on the floor
I guess it depends on how dangerous the child is
Ratchet strap the PC to the table
Will the child attack a slab of metal or a metal box with glass on the side
Give it a good few pats and say that's not going anywhere
Not childproof enough, strap to ceiling
Kinda my thought process here
And then they might eat the glass shard
Went to best buy and found that
2050 ☠️
And that's BAD
Pretty sure there's better
GPU that they released like
OH I COMPLETELY FORGOT THEY DID THAT THING
After the 3050 iirc?
The 3050 is just barely powerful enough on my laptop
First two results
Yeah that seems....not bad, needs 8gb more ram tho
Is the a15 similar price?
What cpu
Or
Some "used - very good" listings on Amazon warehouse aren't even opened, it's just a damaged package or whatever
This lets the laptop breathe so it's not screaming like a jet with no air being flat on a table
4060m and 4050m are pretty energy efficient
So it should be not too bad
4050m iirc is like 45-75w
No memory of what 4060m is
75-145?
Maaaan, why does it have to be so complicated sometimes. I wish you could tell how good it is by the number, meaning like the bigger number is better or the smaller number is better etc
They add smoke and mirrors to make you buy
Welcome to tech industry
All the market worst habits are on full display
Some of the most coveted hardware is in fact paperweights or lipstick on a pig solution
Need to know the specs from top down or at least a good gauge of it so you can tell the difference between 5's and 7's lol
But the two above are good choices, relatively speaking
700-800 for a 4060m laptop is an excellent price, so $825 you're doing really well
Last thing they'll probably need is a mouse
And they probably have a mousepad but you could do well for cheap
Deathadder essential in white and something like a steelseries qck
That would be maybe 30-40-ish
30?
Pretty decent
I used to have a little decent ish gaming laptop I got years back, I always had a keyboard and mouse plugged into it
Ye older gaming laptops were loud af

The newer ones have come leaps and bounds
A number of them adopt something new which is vapour chamber tech
Greatly increases the cooling power in the same space
They've gotten better, they can still be a bit loud, but I do think it's a solid step better
Especially with the value proposition
nah, officially 45-110w
but ofc there's oems that do 140w
Is it 110
asus and lenovo
Oh yeah
yep
ye
Which does translate to performance
they're pretty weak
Just heads up
But 4060m of all kinds are decent enough
And a high power 4050m is comparable
Cpu means, basically nothing here
Ryzen better but not worth more than a fifty tbh
2050 is 3050 4gb with neutered bus
and lower tdp
3050 6gb replaced 3050ti
@cyan ravine so you think the Dell one is probably the better choice? sorry I'm at work and talk when I can
If you can get it open box ye
I hope to be asking, researching, getting and putting my build together soon
Probably will be asking here, bacca is really good with that
How do you get "open box"
BB has an option on the link page for open box, if it's in range
I see it now
Open box is basically the same and working fine, but returned for some unknown reason
Usually just change of mind
Like right under the price tag
Ye
Could be unfortunate and get one that was actually returned for a good reason
But it's not super terrible if you can't get open box, it's around 75 dollars off
Ye
Most stores inspect the product to make sure that either it's still sealed and/or in working condition, and has all parts returned
10% off and it turns out great is a win
^mouse and mousepad
Laptop stand^
Folds into a small pouch, fits in a handbag
Or a pocket
Maybe a purse if it's big enough lol
^laptop
Dragged it all up, might help
The brands and such don't matter much when it comes to laptop stands, mouse, and keyboard. Mostly all personal preference with that right?
Mouse not really, but keyboard matters
Also with laptops, I very much prefer wireless mice
Just don't go too cheap
I believe I got a razer basilisk wireless mouse now
Or however it's spelled
I think on my old gaming laptop, I just set it on a fan pad
So...imma get rid of my CPU cooler fan and both my case fans, and install ONE noctura industrial 3000rpm 120mm fan
Only 3000? If you're going that extreme then you might need more
It's 150cfm a fan?
Plus the only two other fan slots are directly in front of the CPU fan
This number means nothing when it's the manufacturer stating them since everyone measures it differently in whatever way makes their number bigger.
hello everyone does any know have mother board ASROCK B550M PRO SE ? I need major help with is anyone ? Thank you
What's your question? Lots of people are online, just not a lot of talking today
@FalCie thank you I have 2 issues 1st it’s a new build I does. Not Recognise. The M.2 SSD when install also I can. Not get it to boot to the usb drive when installing windows ?
What processor are you using?
AMD
Am using Western Digital 1TB WD Green SN350 NVMe Internal SSD Solid State Drive - Gen3 PCIe, QLC, M.2 2280, Up to 3,200 MB/s - WDS100T3G0C
Yes, but which one? There's 30 different ones that fit that board and not all of them have the same features.
Sorry AMD Ryzen 5 4500 6-Core, 12-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler
Do you have the M.2 drive in the top or bottom slot?
first it does not recognize the M.2 I formatted the m.2 it don’t work. But also I can not get it to boot the windows USB drive
I really don’t see a bottom slot really
Yes am putting it on the only slot that there
Let me take a pic to show you stand by
The top slot is between the GPU and CPU
I can’t sent pic on here
DM it to me
I just did
You mean to tell me there a bottom slot there under it ?
No there's a second slot on the bottom right of the board
Near the front panel connectors
Did you peel the sticker off the SSD?
I just sent you another image with out the video card
Yeah it's much more clear now
I'm going to check that serial number with western digital because that doesn't look right
Well the serial number checks out so I guess they started cutting down on the sticker size
Moving past that now
You might need to manually set the M.2 slot to PCIe 3.0 mode because your CPU and the drive don't support 4.0, but the motherboard does. That can confuse it sometimes.
Yeah because I am now confuse
How do I set it up manually
Let me reinstall everything should take a few sec…
Hang on I'll grab a screenshot from my asrock board
Am loading in now on the bios
I just sent a image just now
The other issue is when I plug the usb drive it does not load windows install and before it did
Advanced, AMD PBS, AMD common platform module, M.2_1 link speed, set to gen3
I just sent you an image how my mines looks now
You'll also want to move the RAM stick in slot 3 into slot 2, the way you have it now it's in the slower single channel mode
3070 vs 6750xt for 1080p gaming
6750 is aging better already because of the extra vram
6750xt imo
used $260 gainward 3070 8gb vs new $300 xfx speedster qick 319 6750xt 12gb
Not sure if the $40 difference is worth dropping down to 3070 for
There's games that can fill 8GB at 1080p already, and that makes it look like garbage when it has to swap textures around
TLOU, Hogwarts, and Halo are the worst offenders
Ive never heard of gainward GPU's
gainward + 7500F combo would be too crazy
@potent portal so...tested the noctura 2° difference between my Thermaltake CT-120s and the noctura
And I have an itx cooler
The cooler is probably not as effective
My CPU, 3900x, is at 63°
Deepcool AK620 ZERO DARK 68.99 CFM CPU Cooler vs. Deepcool ASSASSIN IV 79.1 CFM CPU Cooler
Looking at these
Idle or under load?
This is a double tower for like 1/2 the price
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hYxRsY/thermalright-peerless-assassin-120-se-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-pa120-se-d3
Idle
That thing is loud af
It was, for a 2° different
P12 max I think can get relatively close for a lot less noise but I'm not 100% sure
T30 is comparable for sure
You could also instead consider a noctua fan duct
Or some cut foam to emulate such
Channeling the intake on an LP >>>>> Better fan
Cos then the fan is insulated from recycling it's own hot air inside the case, it creates a specific intake/exhaust flow path
NA-FD1 that's the name
