what 7200 do u have
there's 8240c32 with 32b
Me? I have the kit you ordered but like 2 years old
memory controller of intel is better than amd right?
I also have 6400 cl32
btw I feel like intel is more responsive than amd
5600 cl28
because of the L2 cache size
6400 cl34(?)
thats my theory but yea
and the intercore communication
and the fact that amd has the I/O die physically away from the CCD
It's better in performance but worse in stability
AMD X3D has L3 cache tho
yeah but when L2 cache exceeds it goes to L3
Direct on die cache at that
Wow @potent portal
Like the top 6 on ycruncher 1b
They use exotic cooling
Below that
Practically xmp on some*
💀
I remember when this sport was more popular
Tho that LN2 pot do be pushing the fast cpu clocks
7000 cl32 on this one from luumi
7k cl32 is the lowest?
Jfc a uni x made it into the top 20
That's rare
They really did fix that board
Oh oops it's top 40
Even still 8200 is great
Eh well anyway
Can't see anything that's resembling 7200cl26, but a lot of the ones I did mention are easily faster than 7200cl26 anyway
Yeah
Most of those names are pretty veteran in the space too, they know what they're doing and use exotic cooling
A good result for an aorus x would be more like
And I'm going to preface this as stable for valorant
7600-ish
If you're lucky cl32
Probably around 38 38 38 28?
32 u mean?
No those are the primaries
32-38-38-38-28 ?
Yep
Dang
Something like that
Maybe 39 39 39 30
Trfc you want relatively low
Trefi 64K and no higher (You can corrupt windows at 65K+)
Oh wait no that's ddr4
Trefi...
261K
All the remaining secondaries and tertiaries are more or less the same for everyone on ddr5
Which makes it a lot easier than it could be
But balancing voltages are what makes it take weeks to overclock
You can be off by like, 0.005v and it's completely unstable
Becomes a very annoying voltage puzzle
Thats some deep technical sh
So yeah, tread into that at your own peril

I learned a lot since being out of the sport
U must superhuman fr😭
Just a few hours of google and a bit of self-study here and there
Before you know it you're a couple years deep in this and it starts making a little sense
Lol
Well done bro fr😂👏
😂😂😂😂
I haven't even tuned the memory yet except the buildzoid easy timings, this is just with CO +200. A couple of my cores do -50 and -45, I'm quite impressed with it.
Passed corecycler with AVX-512 https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1077777664254947378/1233246805093781556/image.png
-50 appears to be a physical limit
Does anyone have a recommended graphics card for my build? Parts down below
Ryzen 5 5600
16gb ddr4 ram
512gb ssd
600 watt psu
Budget of 200 dollars maybe a little more, the graphics card is all I need to finish the build.
Wdym
2080ti if you can get a good deal on it**
The price of these make all the difference to what my suggestions could be
This is the simple answer, but you may have a lot more budget you can leverage for the gpu (or if the PSU isn't good enough, less)
what power supply
model
also do you already own the rest of that
Hey all, I’m looking to put together a system for my sister in law. It’s strictly for work, with Microsoft office, but she will be doing some video editing and Clipchamp calls. Really nothing too serious, but I didn’t want her to just go to Best Buy and overspend. What would you all recommend for a cpu / gpu combo? Budget probably $600 max. I’m going to build it in a basic case with some fans and a decent tower cooler.
$600 for the entire system?
Sure. I will go used parts.
alright so I'm guessing not really gaming focused, but it will still be good to have a good gpu
I'm of out the loop for pc lists right now, but I should be able to put together a decent list for that price, someone else can check my work afterwards
Yes. No games. Just video editing some.
can certainly do a new system too
I haven't done pc lists for a while so I have to refresh my memory in order to get an idea of prices and such
True. A prebuilt system with a gpu would be fine. Cyberpower and ibuypower have $800 minimums.
Which is pricey for a rtx 3050.
I could get her an Optiplex with an 8700 and my gtx 1070. lol.
that would actually be completely fine (ish)
True. I just have to explain the differences between a new system and an “old” one. Windows 11 might be a thing for her. In that case has to be 8th gen intel or above.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cm7nVW this is a decent list as far as I'm concerned. But psu is definitely overkill and mobo is not so good. All you have to do is get a 5700xt/2070super and you'll be good
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Deepcool CC360 ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
do you want the possibility to add a gpu down the line?
weird thing is that prices have stayed relatively the same since I left 6 months ago ish
https://www.newegg.com/tools/combo-builder/4293?cm_sp=homepage-pers-home dynamiccombo_intel
12400f b760 ds3h $185 here
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
Part List - Intel Core i5-12400F, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
three build options
can go up to 1tb ssd, can swap case/fans as youd like, can fill in gpu as you want for the last list
the first two lists are using igpu
can do much cheaper psu as well
5600gt is a new thing, right?
yeah that's what I thought
since 5600x was almost same price I just went with that
if you have a dgpu it's fine right?
with the $600 budget you can def fit a dgpu
Yes i only need the graphics card
what is psu
Power supply
What's the name of your psu there mate
Full name not just the brand
Aight one sec
Ok so the instructions dont clarify
All i can find is that its an Aresgame AVG500
i would highly suggest a replacement before boom
Product Introduction:--ARESGAME AGV500 is the perfect balance between affordable price and excellent performance. --Very stable power output makes it the most popular and reliable PSU choice.--Its luxurious black appearance also brings a high-tech feel for your game setting. Features: ----Charmin...
Heres the link on amazon
big boom
Why does everyone say all the power supplies i choose will explode
None of the reviews on any of them mention booms
aresgame has a single mediocre psu and every other one is prone to killing pcs
welp
i'm not gonna buy another one until this one (might) explode tho. I don't have enough cash on me
my friend has a very sketchy psu, and he says its great
its great... till its not
The problem is when a power supply fails, it's often going to take other parts with it
No, let's elaborate further
thats what everyone says and then it never happens
When this psu fails
It will take other parts with it
$50 gets you an apevia prestige 600w
10x better than any aresgame or gamemax
Those two brands are dumpster fires for psu safety
if it explodes, i'll let you know
Good psus ship with protections that often kick in when something goes fatally wrong
like felix said, cheapest that isnt a hazard https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xLtKHx/apevia-prestige-600-w-80-gold-certified-atx-power-supply-atx-rp600w
but i really cant change rn
Aresgame do not ship good psus
this is a bit better https://pcpartpicker.com/product/NBYRsY/corsair-cx-2023-750-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-cp-9020279-na
And a 500W one at that, I can't even recommend the same gpu anymore
its already hooked up it seems great
I would recommend a 75W 1650
Until it's not
THATS WHAT EVERYONE SAYS BUT THEY NEVER EXPLODE
Until they do
bro
my friend bought a sketch one like 2 years ago and it's fine
The problem with aresgame is they send different units to the 80+ qualification tests than what you get from a retail box, so you could get literally anything. It's a grab bag of parts. Maybe it's fine, and maybe it'll catch fire if it's under load too long.
we'll just have to see with mine then because it ain't even finished
i still need the gpu so thats what i originally asked for advice for
The same with units they send to reviewers, they're manipulating the results which you would only do if you are hiding something
We don't normally rat on things like this unless it's actually bad
They have a reputation for undermining reviewers
uh huh
Well don't say you weren't warned
I'm not just blowing smoke https://youtu.be/EmeFRtoiIrQ?si=aznws0H4K5RQOFMU
We bought one of the best-selling power supplies on Amazon, the AresGame AGS850 80 Plus Gold, and found it doesn't meet the requirements of 80 Plus Gold. It didn't explode, though!
Sponsor: Get 10% off Squarespace purchases (https://geni.us/BqEpf)
The AresGame AGS850 is one of the cheapest 80 Plus Gold power supplies on the market -- but the "...
This is my suggestion based on that psu
i dont think i wanna trust that dude on the video he looks like my weird uncle💀
"Didn't explode" is a very low bar
wdym
GN is quite reputable
Very high bar wdym lmao
thats what im sayin
Didn't explode is like saying the used car you bought only needed the entire cooling system replaced
hey, older cars that need fixer-uppers are still better than teslas
Truly a pcmr moment
well if I can't get any help with graphics cards and only suggestions about what psu i'm using then i'm going someplace else for info
3rd time I'm suggesting it
Going to have a dedicated gpu with the system. Since it’s not for gaming, would intel cpu be best for the video and office work?
with the 12400f and b760 bundle at $185, yes
That is a good deal!
there might be some other good deals too
12600kf with the same mobo is $235
could also get microcenter deal if you have it near you
will need a new cooler though
this is very decent deal, not the best but very good
That's really nice provided it's not got some disgusting catch 22
Is it the ventus 2x or 3x
It does
If it does it's cursed
Oh god.
Flashbacks to the 3070 2x overheating
3X should be ok but 2X I would avoid
285W

I bet it's still their patented premium ™️ aluminum heatsink too
Make sure to get a copy of the original receipt just in case for warranty. Don't tell MSI you bought second hand.
Doesn't MSI have transferrable warranty?
No but they won't ask unless you mention it
They do very much require the original receipt or invoice
old warranty sheet say they don't care, and it looks to be the case from their warranty terms and conditions
they just base it off manufacturing date instead of purchase date
It might be different for GPUs because they flat out refused to warranty my mobo without the invoice
Another option btw
seems like the "Gaming Motherboard" and "Professional Motherboard" warranties have the same clause, but doesn't apply to "Content Creation Motherboard", which is pretty wacky lol
Weird, I wonder how they define each of those
yea I dunno
Wtf so if you buy it after it was on a shelf in a store for a year, you lose a year of warranty
Oh wait I misread
No that's only if they can't provide invoice
*Felix attacked himself in confusion! *
lol
wait wHAT
Yeah I ordered it on the 23rd and the third party didn't have it in stock and refunded my money and said they were getting it from another vendor and was delivered today and they said it was paid for already
So..
7800xt Pulse vs that.
Can get the warranty + a supposed working 4070ti for 500$.
Hold up
Apparently the E version came out Janurary
January
This was made in November 2023
I like how they just add an E to it
To show that it's better
The E for Efficient
No
It’s on Facebook marketplace for 500$ tho
What do yall think of a 3900x with a 2080ti, x570 board, 64gb of ram, 500gb sata ssd, and a 1600w random brand psu for $540?
real
Nice
The moment I've been waiting for!!
Bruh I’m tired of this Gift Nitro button
I’m not about to gift some random Internet person Nitro 💀
So much clutter like wtf
lol
Okay so - The dude selling the 4070ti MSI Ventus 3 E OC for 500$ is taking pictures of it later today, he has original box, bought in November (which is good because E OC came out around that time) and he seems like a solid seller. Only issue is he doesn’t have a monitor to test bench it.
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600K, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Lian Li LANCOOL 205 Mesh C ATX Mid Tower
This would be the build if I bought it
Just I would have to sell my 7800xt Pulse
Idk if it's worth the upgrade from a 7800xt
I mean the resell value is good though
500$ and just resell to 600$ ig
Though who knows if it’s even worth the time
I got $6 and a dream
Oof nice
hey guys is the r5 7600x good?
Depends on price
7600 is 1-2% worse and comes with a stock cooler
And uses a lot less power
It's what, 15% perf diff?
4gb less vram
i saw one for $200 but theres also a r 5 7600 for 185
7600 is the same chip
I mean vram really isn’t an issue to me tbh
They just didn't give it an X and the factory binning spec is 100MHz lower (one is also unlocked on power, but both can be unlocked)
I don’t play really any heavy vram games
Performance wise they're within like, 2% of each other
- to mention let’s exclude AMD’s FMF cause it’s just a scam
For now atleast, it’s so pointless to have on. Not worth the extra power draw or even usage
True
At least fmf is universal out the gate
Ya but none of the games I’ve played really worked with FMF
The only one would be Roblox 💀
It’s supposed to feel cleaner
Ye
But it’s choppy
Smoother
Especially rust
Ye
But rust it peaks from 27-68ms
So I just turn it off cause I’d rather suffer
Than suffer even more with FMF on
Anywho I mean a 4070ti for 500$ tho
Rust is a pain on the cpu
You can do a lot to fix rust with ram oc
X3d destroys everything in rust
Then again I’m on DDR4
Another factorio moment
Oh heck ya
I want to upgrade to ddr5
But it’s not even worth it rn or even worth
Not worth
I would have to remove everything, reinstall it
Then who knows what junk I’d have to transfer over or redo
Well to me you want to sell everything to move up
I have the traders mindset
You need to offset costs down to about $40 spent overall
i see
I find a lot of ddr5 sticks though in my area discounted
Due to Microcenter deal
is this any good Cooler Master MASTERLIQUID ML240L RGB V2 for the r5 7600?
That cooler works fine but don't buy it new
Get a single tower for $20 instead. Those are already overkill (some better than aios due to coldplate contact on 7600)
Thermalright assassin spirit 120 evo is good
If you want rgb
Id cooling se 224xt or se 214xt also good
Ml240l in comparison is like a 5 year old design at this point, designed for no chips sold today it's grossly out of it's depth
A good aio but not worth buying in today's environment
I still have mine packed away I think lol
sheeesh bet thanks
If you really wanna spend money on an AIO go ahead but that money could be added to like an upgraded part
Personally the air cooler is the best choice, I didn’t think it was but it fits with my system really well & the pa120 SE cools a powerhouse chip really good so !
what mob and gpu should i get that can do ddr5 ram with a r5 7600 cpu?
I had that. The fans broke after 9 months and it's really loud.
I only bought it because I got it for $50 and good air coolers didn't exist at that price that could handle my 5800X.
are you making a whole new build? if so whats the whole budget
Yeah, it's saving grace tho was it was unironically decent performing
Would never buy it tho now, not ever
I still use it for things tho
It barely kept up with my 5800X but it did keep up during gaming. Multi core loads would still hit tjmax.
Is this any good?
i have the v2, it takes a few weeks to get used to, your hand sits on it differently than a normal kb
Ahh idk if I should get that 4070ti 😭
best thing ever though
No cash rebate bruv it'll be fine
💀
Used one
It seems like a good deal to me
I keep forgetting that my keyboard has a knob on it
What do you use it for?
How much are you buyin it for
It has revised vrm coverage so temps are tolerable
Cheapest one on eBay I can find is $629 for 3x Ventus e oc
Good deal to me tbh

Do they have a version where the mouse is on the left?
not that I know of
Darn
Shout out to everyone who's helped in the past with this build you guys been great help!! Just waiting to get off the 12 hour shift so I can finish with windows
yo i would appreciate if anyone could give me a second opinion on this 1440p £1400 gaming build
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/xsFyN6
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
don't see anything bad
neat, cheers then boss 👍
Swap ssd to this
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/rqhv6h/western-digital-blue-sn580-1-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-wds100t3b0e
NV2 is rubbish for a gen 4
will do, i was looking at changing it but not sure to what, cheers
Would do this or this
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/NrdTfy GRE is almost XT for like 180 less or so
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/xMLX7R or stretch another 40 to xtx
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
ill have a look at some benchmarks for the GRE and XT and see then, as for the SSD which one do you think i should choose between the SN770 and the SN580? (also thanks :) )
Anyone can recommend me a good aircase for airflow and an liquid cooler also. I'm switching to new case coz of hot weather
Do you neeeeed a liquid cooler?
Yes I think so. Because recently my pc suddenly shutdown or sometimes it suddenly freezes
I only think the reason is the temp of ssd is 50 degrees
Idk the cause tho
Anyone can help me know whats the problem?
Nand is generally rated up to 105c, and the controller is usually rated up to around 85c, the SSD won't have heat problems at just 50c
If your CPU or GPU are hitting like 95c and 85c respectively, there's a chance that it's overheating and hitting the thermal limit under certain loads
There's a decent chance that the freezes and shutdowns are more software related, should prob look at event viewer or smth like whocrashed to check the reason for it shutting down
Em idk tbh haven't looked at the sn580 @cyan ravine can probs tell you tho
SN770 is great but not worth more than a handful of dollars over an SN580 if you aren't doing heavy video editing work
ill just see what the prices are when i go to purchase, thanks for the help mate :)
The other day two people argued with me that gm7000 was worth $20 over m482 in a $1000 budget lmao
"m482 bad bc no tlc"
People.put way too much weight into dram caching and tlc these days
Not truly necessary unless you deal with sensitive work
TLC is def nicer but not for more than a few dollars
Kinda like the whole "I need RT so I need Nvidia" type of argument
Im using R5 5600x and MSI MAG B550 Mortar Wifi
B550 or B550M
Event viewer is what
B550M
it is TLC though lol
type into windows search bar
Arctic Cooling Freezer 34 esports duo air cooler
After that what should I do
Unless you've mounted this cooler wrong or it's faulty, you won't have a cooling issue
Look for administrative events near when you crashed
Freezer 34 duo is almost overkill for 5600x
Actually my gpu temp is just 50-60 and cpu is mostly 50-60
Idk but sometimes suddenly the screen freezes
Sounds normal
whocrashed just finds and reads it for you but you'd have to download it
Or sometimes suddenly restarting or shutdown
Screen freezing or restarting could be a whole swag of other things
Who crashed is free?
AM4 is a bounty of random things most often related to AGESA and the AM4 chipsets themselves
I only encounter this during this week
Screen freezes or shutdown so I thought its the ssd temp which hits 50-52 sometimes
Nah ssd's like being way hotter
About 80-ish they're happy
Up to about 95 when they throttle (or supposed to)
What should I download is it the registry tools?
Ram is like this too
So any solution to diagnose the problem?
main page

Any notable changes recently, like updating your GPU driver etc?
I didnt update gpu driver etc
Checking the windows update logs can help too, sometimes it's just M$ being M$
Actually its way outdated
Its R5 5600g rather
If it's too outdated then windows update becomes more likely to force you to update it... which often breaks things
Thanks microsoft
You should check temps under load, not while idle
Even more so that cooler is overkill then
but it shouldn't be running into thermal issues with 5600g with a freezer 34
how to do that ?
Type "windows update" into the start menu and it'll suggest "view update history"
Actually even when just browsing it freezes sometimes during my working hours
Should be another section below for "driver updates"
22h2 is a bit old, I thought they were forcing 23h2 updates, but maybe thats only for w11
Ok so no recent drivers
But you did recently update to 22H2 so you probably need to update a few drivers to match that
Oh wait that's 2023
nvm
click analyze on whocrashed
Gonna suggest it if it's not already said, bios update might do something
prob sfc then chkdsk
sfc and chkdsk ? how should I fix it ?
Would also consider a ram test
assuming your windows drive is your C: drive, type in chkdsk C: /f
also in cmd line ?
yea
I think you can do chkdsk C: /scan to do read only scan without restarting if you want
the /f flag tells it to try to fix anything it comes across, but if you just want to know if there are problems, just scanning will be fine
I think it will take a while. Kindly wait for the result if ever
/delete system 32
Doing /r will attempt to recover info from bad sectors
I usually do #building-and-recc-chat message for OS recovery.
What should I do ?
I tried to open new cmd line and re run the command you sent
well something is wrong with the disk
whats the best way to fix this if ever ?
I rerun it
What should I do after this ?
That is correct. chkdsk with /f, /r, or /x needs a restart to use on OS drive
Do chkdsk /r and then restart. Then after that do this #building-and-recc-chat message
yea but /scan can do it without
Ye, but cant fix everything
I was commenting on the lack of progress after /scan and the message being an hour since the last one
Ah, ye. That whack.
We have a fiber optic Internet plan
not a very good one 💀
drivers being funny prob
My Bluetooth is also not being detected by my device manager even after a fresh windows and drivers install
You sure your wifi chipset supports bt as well
Also how many dbms are you getting if you're on wifi
I play 95% of my games via Xbox controller
?
Signal strength
Doubloon meters per second
Also if device manager isn't even seeing Bluetooth, maybe try reseating the wifi nic
I'm assuming it isn't soldered on since you said pre-installed
Id have to take apart the IO shield
And remove this beast
Maybe it's just dead
Where do I find that?
Doberman mannequins per second
I want to get the Wifi7 BM200 but it's $30 and isn't supported by AMD rn
Might just get the same card, AX200, for $19
Doppelgängers mangled per squad
Defrosted meat per serving
Doesn't seem like windows has it built in, so an app like wifi analyser for android could work
Definitely Browsing Microsoft Store (dbms) you'll find something
Technically it's dBms
I'll just wait and get a new ax200
We have a script to automate system repairs in the pins for #windows-ios
Run the SFC and DISM option
doesn't Bro mean something (dBms)
Might not even improve things
Though may help with Bluetooth at least
But if it's a shoddy wireless signal, that may not help
I want the wifi 7 BM200, but it's not compatible with AMD systems
I mean compared to your current chip
Depends what the slot spec takes
But it's a PCIe adapter
It comes with the bm200 installed on it and plugs into a pciex1 slot
Do you mean BE200?
I see some people reporting that it works after a BIOS update so it's likely just a matter of the motherboard vendor adding it.
It'll just be a case of drivers if it's a pcie card
Only needs sufficient bandwidth
The drivers do the rest
It's not detected in windows so drivers aren't even loaded
I mean the wifi 7 card
Not referring to this
Referring to this
But it is detected after a BIOS update sometimes
Sorry typing from phone I guess that was misleading lol
same thing, there's no bm200, only be200 from a quick search, likely just a typo/misremembering sku name
how can i properly tune my gpu to use a bit less power/heat so i dont cook alive this summer without crashing
Yeah but it'd be compatible
My point is it'd be compatible no matter what it's called, so long as it has the pcie bandwidth
yeah it theoretically should since it uses the pcie interface
Ye
Pcie is designed to be reverse compatible
If you don't have a slot, you can use an ngff adapter
some intel wifi chips use a different interface which isnt compatible but this one should, though there have been users saying that it didnt work for them
Set a reduced power limit and undervolt
Again ngff would fix a slot issue
Not e key compatible? Turn one into e key lol
The cheap aliexpress ones are probably even fine here as it's just a wifi card
Lol
something like this crashes me unless thats just straight up wrong idk
the issue people were reportedly having were the mobo/windows not detecting the nic at all
obv not in a game
Probably a hardware fault then
Reduce power limit
Only way to do it
Swap to lower power vbios if you have it
Use MPT to manually flash lower power when you turn on the pc and power cycle
idk what those last 2 messages are
Undervolting isn't a thing on radeon
Vbios - card's built in firmware that tells the pc it's a gpu
MPT - software for radeon oc
L
You can try the automatic tuning "undervolt GPU," it's actually not horrible now
it yells at me
legal disclaimer
Radeon cards will always target the power limit or temp limit no matter how low you make the voltage
It purely makes them go faster
It's like Ryzen CO
Oh I see what you did, you just set the voltage slider to 90%, yeah that'll crash you real quick
whats the point of it being a setting then
Some GPUs might be able to do it
But it's less likely
95% is a little more realistic
Some cards like a little voltage drop
Some like a lot
Either can be faster than the other it's all down to asic quality
But again, won't make it cooler, only faster
what if i just a fan curve like this would this damage my graphics card over time
i know that but like
Yeah that
Why can't we just reduce the power limit
Looking at getting the be200
But Intel says it isn't supported
Sorry, phone died
If the fans run faster, the card (theoretically) runs cooler, but your room will be hotter so it's not much difference in the end
I do get that, but if the card is consisently hotter with a lower fan curve, will that damage the card longterm?
sorry I should of worded that better to begin with thats kinda what I wanted to ask
The temp limits are far below anything that will cause damage
@dusky hearth @limber oyster it's hardware locked
theoretically it shouldnt be though
I've seen people on B450 and X570 get BIOS updates that let it work
intel has made no mention of it
Have?
the intel specific wlan chips use a different interface than pcie
it uses inte's civiop or however you spell it since im too lazy to search it interface
So it's hardware locked despite being pcie
but intel has specified that it uses the pcie interface
Yes but that doesn't stop a lockout
You can program it to not work with a competing system
yeah i saw that thread, was discussed in #networks-security-and-home-servers a little while back
Interesting
previous generations (ac200, ax200, etc.) are working fine on amd
their ax201, ax211, and such are intel only
they didnt have an ac200
at least ax200 and ax210 are amd compatible
Learning a lot reading this, there's no pinpoint answer on why it's not working
So probably, they need BE201 to be amd compatible? Which doesn't exist yet
but assuming that they follow the naming convention, which intel (unlike a certain other company) does so relatively consistently, be201 should be the one that is intel only
but yeah idk
weird situation with be200
I noticed this too, the pinouts are different
And there was a similar follow up post to this in the other thread
It was talking about how MLO isn't enabled unless it's on new intel systems
i.e lga1700
/sp5?
/w790 etc
Apparently it works on a 2700x board.
....lol
honestly speaking, not many people can even take advantage of wifi 7 anyways, most people dont even have wifi6e lmao
and the be200 is only 2x2
It's an optional part of the spec that some board vendors might not implement is my guess.
Possible yeah
Or the pinout change has led to the lack of proper function
like plugging in a usb and nothing comes up
considering that people have been omitting sata from their m.2 m key slots, probably
Mmmmm
Ugh I ran into that issue
B650 livemixer is goated in every way, except only 2 sata ports and no sata m.2
It's not even hard to use one of the chipset sata ports and disable one of the wired ports
That board has that x670 upgrade too iirc
AM3 my beloved, the socket that should've died years ago
For some reason I can still find them in local parts stores
That card adds 2 m.2 and 2 sata btw
Local place in NY had boxes of them back in 2019
So I should just stick with the chipset I have now
Gut it
*got
And just get a new one
Well for the time being unless you can find a wifi 7 card from someone not intel, it's probably off the table
Gigabyte has a pcie wifi card that I've seen pop up in a number of these threads working without issues
Tho nothing with am5 yet if you're on am5
There's a realtek chipset with wifi 7
There's not really a huge advantage to gain over 6E anyway in these early stages
But it's realtek
Like Fal says often "First gen releases never go well"
Applies to both computers and cars
Go for ax210 if you want wifi6e
To all things tbh
Lol
6 and 6E should be good enough for the normal day to day
6E is the one that's required to be tri band and uses 6GHz channels
6 is just 5 with WPA3
I'd be looking at what's causing such a low signal
Iirc the pc is in that pelican case?
If the antenna are stuck inside the case then that will interfere with the signal
Getting new wifi5 for client stations doesn't make too much sense, especially yeah RSN is quite a bit more secure
Antenna orientation also matters
Flat for vertical range
Tall for horizontal range
What is rsn
Apparently it's a radio station here
Lol
Robust Security Network
Part of the 802.11i standard
i?
yes
It's not a wifi version
It was originally part of the i spec but it's been included in later editions starting with n
Also it wasn't RSN I think, it was SAE that I was referring to... Or maybe it was right, I forget exactly
Yeah RSN was wpa2
GC-WIFI7 appears to be intel
If you're talking about WPA3 then yes it's SAE
That makes it a lot harder for a deauth attack to grab keys
Oh yeah same thing with ethernet cables
Just intel be200's with pcie ngff
Most of the cat7 and cat8 cables are fake
Wifi generations were 802.11, 802.11b, a, g, n, ac, ax, be, b....x?
There's more than that but those are the ones consumers dealt with the most
And then there's a bunch of other standards for features like r for fast BSS (faster roaming between APs)
I think this sums it up really well, wifi 7 still isn't an official standard yet
So there still will be wide compatibility problems
It's just a draft standard yeah
Yeah I mean wifi generations as in marketed as wifi
So intel.saying their z790 refresh having "wifi 7" is not official
And if they up the spec then those boards will be invalid

So it's just, not really a thing yet
I mean, the hardware requirements has been finalized I think? Just the software stuff that aren't completely finalized yet, but idk I didn't look too closely lmao
Which would make sense if the drivers simply aren't detecting the card as there's probably been no engagement to create the detection to begin with on a software/firmware level
So you end up with what is essentially a lockout as only intel is working on intel compatibility
In the past draft specs have almost matched the official standard, but how close it is depends on when it was made and what the draft was.
I remember N being a draft standard for 4 years or something
Seems like wikipedia (trusting the editor rn) says that yeah the hardware is basically finalized
It's conjecture but I'm guessing work allocation has probably resulted in this situation
Think I'd wait a few more months before considering wifi 7 as even a thing yet tbh @limber oyster it seems like a mess of compatibility rn
There's so many knockoff cards wth
And they're all stupid cheap
Cheaper than wifi 6
I bet you buy one and it's like wifi 4
💀
Prob wifi 5 chips hacked together
Yeah
Considering that the standard is supposed to be ratified by the end of 2024, I doubt any major changes will occur in the next few months
Inb4 "new max speed 7400"
If I had a dollar for every time I said "I doubt that'll happen..."
But yeah I'd stick with 6e for now
Wifi 7 is just too early rn
Specs not even finalized ffs
I mean 300Mbps is fast af imo
I've spent my life under 100
Can do a lot with 300
You pass the point of practical and reach the point of scalable
The human brain can't really even actually fully comprehend how fast 300mbps is
It's easy, break it down into time to download CoD
Most of the world doesn't even have wifi 6 yet
When did cod become the standard measurement of network speed frfr
They didn't teach this in ccna
When cod games hit 300GB
The network equivalent of "can it run crysis"
I fear the day when games get so big that you need to swap drives like CDs to play a different game
To answer, case is the hyte revolt 3
They just pioneered new optical cd tech
Games just ship in a sata ssd
100tb per disc
And I've been having issues ever since tff Bluetooth portion stopped working
But can it run doom eternal
But can it run a game that is locked to the clock speed
Good old console games
Have you done an sfc /scannow at any point
Overclock the processor to speedrun
Bt and wifi commonly corrupts on windows
I've done driver wipe, reinstall
As well as a full format of every drive and a fresh windows install
Wonder how fast the r/w would be
Networking drivers are ass, there was one time I've had to install bluetooth 8 times over before it finally worked
Realtek much on the same playing field
The device isn't even SEEN
☠️
Not that it won't connect or turn on. The pc says it doesn't exist
You don't even get something like "unknown network controller" in device manager?
This is a built in wifi card yes
But not Bluetooth
Yes?
No strange unknown device with an exclamation point or anything
Yes, came with board from asus
Hmm
RMA?
Yeah sus
Actually yeah it's only a year old, probably still under warranty
Wiped drivers, got drivers from Asus, didn't work. Rewiped, got drivers from Intel, didn't work
Bought board used awhile ago
Oh
Tried bluetooth troubleshooter?
At the time the Strix b550-i was $450 new
Says there's nothing wrong as there's no device
Damn expensive
Reseat?
And bios update
Was it still working after you took it out of the pelican caze
My board has two separate buttons for that
Yes
Bios flashback?
bios settings at least
Ok so it didn't self-immolate in the hotbox
This started less than a week ago
True true
Hmmmmm
I've done everything I can think of except tear apart my PC due to the difficulty of it
Yeah you probably want to open up that mobo io shield and take a look then sadly
If you have a laptop you can swap that card in
Or second pc
And see if it works
Only pc
If they're both 6/6E should work
If I'm gonna go through the trouble of opening it, I'm just gonna replace it once
Fair enough
The hassle of removing my gpu and CPU cooler is too much
I mean
My CPU heatsink sits on the io cover
You may want to deep clean dust out every once in a while
The heatsink has to come off
That won't help wifi speed
Decent one yoy can just plug in
And then I'll have conflicting drivers for wifi
Yes it won't
It's not that hard to take off a cpu cooler
Me with a secufirm2 mount
If I get a wifi dongle too
But we had a long like 40 minute discussion learning that wifi 7 isn't ready for am5 lol
There's dongles with BT only
Thermalright itx cooler
Again, won't help wifi
So if you put the pc next to the router
Yes, but that also means you won't have any conflicts
Is it still getting 6mb/s
Router is in parents room across the house
It's in their room
Ap being across the house usually is the cause of bad wifi speeds
And this is a new issue, literally today
Haven't had this issue before
Even before we switch to fiber back in January
So before today, it was 300mbps?
My gf's router is also in her mom's room and her connection is... Terrible lmao
Give or take 30mbps
Ok then yeah something's up with the module
It changed on weather and temp
The installer put the router in the most convenient place even when asked to put it in the center of the house ☠️
But its been consistently above 200
If you can't brute force it with software to detect it might have burnt out
They asked for it to be installed there
Wifi cards on itx don't really get much of any airflow being stuck under an io cover
Even with a tiny 20mm fan
Router used to be in the living room by the tv
40mm fan
Then we switched to fiber and got the lines ran to their room
So it's quite possible something is physically wrong with it
If the living room is in the center of the house, then it makes the most sense
Ah
Why didn't you have it be placed there as well though
Up to them
