just buy one online
Okk send them when you do
theres some things you can get a good deal on from microcenter, but yeah, some of their stuff is terrible
hehehe what u mean
paying $1000 for a 4070ti is awful
I wouldn't pay 1000 for nothing that is not an xtx
And not even that can be found at it's actual msrp
"inflation"
lol
I don't mind
Even my pc got posted
I'll go and say my new rigg running beautifully lmao

Oh no elitism about to arrive once again

For you
👀
a long sentence my man a really long one
also no ofense or anything
but how can people like this
unify???? That board is sexy
Frank is out here swinging at me
This case just sents my brain outside of my head men
Literally 2 meshify owners active in chat
Still thinking, probably
It's like I want to like it but like nooooooooooo
I can not
Like the north is so gorgeous but what is this
And meshify is also on deal
at micro
lmao
I was like meh let's see should I add it
to the build but them I saw it again
Meshify c is a top tier case
The north makes me feel like I am getting a high end case
The card compatibility is a bit meh but ya know sacrifices will be made
If I get it
I want a north so badly but it’s oos all the time
North is so well received Corse hair took the idea and started making wood panels
Imma regret this 1 month down the line
yeh
I saw that
lmao
oh i didn't see that part

New brand of shampoos completely not exotic: coarsehair
Do a three sails logo but make it out of hair
sorry for working my whole entire a** off to be able to afford something nice in my and wanting something. so if that makes me "insufferable" then so be it. I dont see anyone tellin you how to spend your money. it's my money and what i do with it is my business. and yall did nothing but prove my point in this whole chat since then.
Had to sacrifice a fan for my 3080ti
the 7000 series?
:v
You can run basically anything at 6000
First off too much text
But yes anything higher evaporates quick
"to much text" says the man thats wrote a whole novel in the last 40 minutes
oh you think i havent? glad youre sitting next to me. what are you like 14?
Lmao
Onyx it’s alright we are just mocking your spending decisions. It happens a lot in public tech forums
Age calling now how rude for someone who works their ass off for their money that totally feels like to spent in an i9
let's go guys we are at the peak of this era!
Do what ever you think is good 👍
excpet that this isnt just a public tech forum. its a link given by a company for help.
Deshroud and fan mod gpu to reclaim fan

and all yall wanna do is sit there and talk s*** all day
Hey, don't blanket that, I spent hours yesterday man
It’s actually just a public discord server that a company uses for free advice
so yeah, imma say something here and to the company durin business hours tomorrow
Thx Imma keep this save as well
We are just tryna save you a buck
None of us work for them
what part of it isnt about moeny werent you getting? i wanted to build something and eevrything i came up with was never considered good enough or fast enough
tf
It wasn’t that it wasn’t good enough it’s just the parts were all over the place and didn’t make sense for what you were doing
We are really just a bunch of randoms in a server that do our homework and take a value first mindset
im not taking offense to it. im taking offence to how youre going about it
If it isn't about money
them do this
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700K, GeForce RTX 4090, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
That’s fair but ya know internet folks will be rude if given a reason
i say "this is what i want to have in this color scheme" and you call me "insufferable" for wanting something
cool
add an i9 and make your life more beautifully
Is not mine is fal cle build
I keep all the build suggested because I do value the help people that doesn't get paid to help me gives me because they actually care and not because they are greedy
good idea
You save all our builds??
Yeah
I like computers a little bit to much

But sadly have always been stuck to having laptops due to the lack of space until now
I have fixed computers with my dad since the age of 6
But have never build a single one
ok ok ok. CLEARLY there's some sort of miscommunication going on here.
@dusty cedar wants recommendations from the community on what parts to buy, and was told to come here.
onyx is using this as a gaming PC? and is wanting to not have to upgrade for quite a few years down the line, so they want to get something good right now.
the people here in the community that have been given "expert" roles for their experience and knowledge are saying to onyx that a core i9 is rather wasteful for a gaming focused PC build, as the performance different between that and the i5 is quite minimal for gaming performance, which is quite true.
so Onyx is upset that they are being told the work they have done by themselves finding parts is wrong, and is being told to change them.
thats whats going on? i got that right?
yeh yeh
you miss the elitist part though
They are elitist because they suggesting to save money
:V
But money isn't the problem
So merry goes on it's way and sail that high pack with all the hard work money!!!
from what im looking at, the goal is to build a white PC?
I never called it wrong, I sat down for hours and gave good reasons why not to pick things like the prime z790-a
I don't know
I was quite clean about it and gave my reasons
Realistically you'll spend twice the price over a 13600K and end up with a cpu that will last one more year at most over the i5
GPU it's whatever, if you want faster it's fine
I was purely trying to keep to the 2k budget
i just bought that graphics card myself for a customer build. seems quite nice IMO. but i would definitely agree that in terms of optimizing a PC for gaming performance, it generally makes more sense to invest most of your budget into the graphics card, which typically doesnt involve buying the highest end processor on the market.
hey felix "hard working money" is not the problem
:V
Hard working is the key in here which I don't get myself
If I hardwork my money I would personally go for what makes the most sense money wise to what I want to do
i would make the jump to a 7900XTX or a RTX 4080, and cut some budget from the CPU, as a gaming PC doesnt and wil not need 24 cores
for the forseable future, we're going to expect modern gaming to be optimized for 8 core / 16 threads, as thats the core spec for consoles for this generation
price/perf aside.. Even with just my 12600k, I feel like I will be able to game for years to come without having to upgrade.
does that make sense to you? @dusty cedar
I think this relates even to laptops :V
And I know people here do hate laptops
Anyway, I'm not digging my heels too deep in this, I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to help and I was very neutral about it with well spoken reasons for my suggestions, so I'm a bit sad I'm being blanketed into this
Like my own laptop can do what he's saying and doesn't even go above the 1000$ mark
You can be my blanket ❤️
I’m just a bad person who trolls a little
I remember first time I came here, it was 2 years ago in 2021 when I ask for a friend who was buying a pc, the guy who help was Mr1111 and I got the help needed and went on my merry way
like, im willing to help, i work with customers for a living to configure custom order PCs of all types, and building them. I get paid to do this, but i also find it fun and i consider helping in channels like this as practice for me. but im not able to help you figure out what you want if you're not going to respond @dusty cedar
Yeah it's really nothing like that
There's way too much info out there to sift through to find what's actually good and not a scam buy
That was my whole intention while helping
Me: Knows the basics
Comes here: Get's an actual talk about components and why each component makes more sense than what I want
Me with my friends: Get's roasted for the minimal mistake about one component.
i was never talkin about you. we had a good convo last night
I'm glad
also, i dont think i ever had the motherboard you mentioned in my cart until this moring.
Demonmit1 does a excellent job building professionally, I’d suggest just going with whatever he’s going to say
Yeah demonmit is probably the most street smart of all of us here
He does it for a living
We do it for recreation
i pmd him already
Good, he may even be able to build the whole thing for you if you wanted, he has a huge reel of builds he does on a budget
Go search him in #build-pics
You'll find some great results
@austere condor Gorgeous sleeper
did someone say sleeper
Yeh I did
lol, that build was from SO long ago
at that point it wasnt a sleeper

Gorgeous nonetheless
@cyan ravine whats the reasoning behind not wanting to go with that Asus board with a 13900k?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fGrRsY/asus-prime-z790-a-wifi-atx-lga1700-motherboard-prime-z790-a-wifi
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2MLFf7/gigabyte-z790-aero-g-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-aero-g
those are really the only two options without blowing the bank
which was why i selected the one i did. all the other ones are going for 400+
I was suggesting this with a 13700k
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mPt9TW/asrock-z790-pro-rs-wifi-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-pro-rs-wifi
Or steel legend d4
Cos I was originally working to the 2K budget with a monitor
i had a 2k budget for the pc. i dindt care much about the cost of the monitor
but now i dont havea budget as long as i'm not spending 4+k on something from the store
yall made me feel bad enough to not give a d*mn about a budget so congrats. not you specifically but everyone else.
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600K, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Fractal Design Focus 2 RGB ATX Mid Tower
This was basically the last list I did
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ydbmsL
so this is where we're at, this would be no holding back on parts, but that is also pushing the price tag way up.
with the music production being multithreaded, and being interested in RTS and simulation games, i can see a justification for the 13900k.
the 13900k needs some serious cooling, and unfortunately theres no quality 420mm white AIOs, so we're using a good black one, and replacing the fans to be white.
beyond that, rest is to keep up with the white theme.
obviously we're quite high up in the budget, and if cuts need to be made, they can be pretty simple, dropping down the CPU/cooler/board/ram and GPU as needed
Part List - Intel Core i9-13900K, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Lian Li LANCOOL III ATX Mid Tower
is it right now? neat. would switch to that then
$5 more
Sadge

NV2 is jsut for game storage, $5 more wouldnt hurt, but idk if its really necessary?
My two cents is go for the p41 👀
I would prolly still change board but that would really be it with that list
I just can't justify 300+ for anything that isn't oc lol
But aero is a creator board
It might have something else to it like the io, haven't looked into it with detail
I would trust the aero to be better than the prime unless there was a difference of thunderbolt
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3vRrFg
if the goal is to stay at or under 2 grand, i wouldnt be too against something like this. as long as the monitor you plan to purchase, you keep in mind that the build is a 3060ti
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700K, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Yeah I really like that list
Even a white 4070 ti at that point
It would be crisp
Then a hp x27q or another 144Hz+ 1440p good monitor
With good dci-p3
Excellent price on that bad boy and it performs well vs competitors
i dont mind going over some amount. im comfortable around 2500 so with the list yoyu gave me i'll need to compromise and make minor changes and get everything else later
Maybe splurge on a m27q(insert variation here)
but yeah, a 3060ti is fine as long as you're not trying to run 4k in the types of games you said you intend on playing, and the music production workload doesnt use GPU, it cares more about how many threads your CPU has, and how much ram you have
i didnt think that was to unreasonable you know
and the 64GB of ram is justifiable for sim gaming and the music production
many times have i seen cities skylines use more than 32GB of ram
lol
Yeah I would've figured as much but I got pushed to 32gb lol
My first list had 64gb ddr4
yeah, end up spending like an extra $80 for DDR5, but at this point, why not, newer gen, might as well
upgrading in 5 years DDR4 is gonna be dead anyways
Also don't be afraid to buy from all the websites in that list @dusty cedar , you will save yourself literally hundreds
We are, as said before, very impartial and we seek the best value to avoid price gouging
yeah, newegg pricing is ASS sometimes. better to pick and chose from each site that has the best pricing available
Welcome to felix mart, $1000
👀
Did someone say package 👀
which apex are you trying to pawn off? @cyan ravine
last apex i bought was a Z590 and i got it for pennies, lol
I might be pawning off ux's soon tho, if you don't mind the shipping
All that extra weight in the extra metal sinks, oml
ux?
690 ye
Anyone have a fractal north to pawn off
I have pawns
Chess set of 16
ah ok
But it looks sexy
i bought a binned 11900k / Z590 Apex right after 12th gen launch for $500 shipped
so, if you got some 12900k's kicking around, and can match something around that offer
i might consider it
last 12900k i bought was $280
ah yeah. just a board isnt super worth much to me
Shipping to the states would be kinda hellish

i do what i want

There’s a techie chat?!

Red Rommy is best Rommy
last time buddies xD since i feel my question went unnoticed... any thoughts on the g55a 1440p monitor? the g5 series from samsung?
thought as much
dunno how accurate rtings is, but they say that the response time is awful
everything else is just ok
if that turns out to be true, then there is little point to get a 165hz monitor if ends up with a lot of ghosting
Rtings bae
VA moment?
Idk what panel is in the G5
G7 G8 and G9 are good but never looked into G5
yeah va moment
but cant find a demo on youtube with the g55a to see the ghosting or black smear
altho the g55a claims to have 1 ms gtg
Can I buy this monitor for my pc 32" Odyssey G7 Gaming Monitor, gpu 6700xt
My pc or the monitor
And why such an expensive monitor for that gpu?
The monitor doesn't really matter now but for next time lol
Friend selling it so it’s cheap for now
Mm I see how cheap
Selling it for $250
Well it’s kinda in a bad shape
How bad
There some dead pixel etc
Naw just like 4-10
Just test the colours on like a blank windows background
Blue red green black white
You'll see them in each of those 5 if there are any
Alright
Can also hide the taskbar in taskbar settings

You can put me in your taskbar if you want 😳
😨
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hbDRW4 Last check on this build before I start buying stuff. I am aiming for a budget to mid rang build under $1500 with every component being under $500.
Take the extra fans off and just grab a G360a
G360a comes with 3 rgb fans at 100$
Seconded, and psu is overpriced
Can get an A tier 750 for $95-100, or 850 for $120-130
I would also grab a UD90 2tb for 110$ for the drive, better drive, twice the capacity
Yeah, p41 plus, sn770, a60 are good options too
RM750e is 100$ last I checked
^
Did you look up a review on the performance of that cooler?
Cooler is fine
This is actually one of the better speced out lists I've seen here
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
The builds looking nice
I’m just not sure how hot the 13600k gets so the only thing idk about so the cooler
Yeah ik but a hot cpu does
@honest knot tell him about the lil single tower you're using xD
Im using the ID Cooling se 224 xt black, it can cool 180w of tdp but i recommend something better, if you want to use aircooling buy the deepcool AK620, or peerless assassin 120
And geuss what's on that list lol
Cooler is fine, especially for gaming and considering you're not ocing
Ok alright alr
I would not trust that with 180w
dont worry i powerlimited the 13600k to 130w, very little perf loss
Ah ok
and even without powerlimits it runs pretty well under load
My 13600k was being fed 265w with stock values
...
Was consistently hitting 100c
you tried undervolting?
Voltage limited it to 1.35v and it's down to 215w
And 80c multi core loads, 55c gaming
very nice
lol
i cant even undervolt without losing so much performance
thanks b660
I got my z690a pro for $127 after tax
Well not all of us can be as good as you, rommy /s
And you make good ramen, you're literally perfect
but it doesn't really matter about getting a z690 anyways unless msi decides to remove more features for no reason
heh
Is 64gb 6400 vs 64gb 5600 worth the $100 price difference?
I'm sure this is subjective but I would like your opinions, I'm not sure how much it would affect performance or anything
Well if you're gaming, 64gb isn't worth it period
And I doubt 64gb 6400 would run on most cpus, especially if it's 4x16
I'd probably go for 5600c30, 32, or 36 if you need 64gb, or maybe 6000 with cl under 38
If you're just gaming, 32gb 6400c32, 6000c36 or under (depends on price), or some Kingston 5200c28 I think it is or 5600c30
well yeah gaming but who knows when im gonna need 500 tabs open at the same time yaknow
16gb of ram is enough for around 15-25 tabs, a game, and discord all at the same time.
32gb is fine for me playing warzone, live streaming, discord and 20 chrome tabs at the same time
I think I was at around 23gb
Anything above 32gb of ram is honestly only for if you do workstation use.
chrome doesn't consume as much ram as you think
That's the statement I was trying to make with the 16gb of ram.
Appreciate the responses 🙏
Idk why people freak out over Chrome.
Nvm, just realized why. Most of the people I know that freak out over it have like 4-8gb of ram and try to have like 5 apps running at a time.
Good luck with your build! Be sure to post in #build-pics. 😄
I don't know much about cooling configurations but don't I need exhaust fans or am I good with just the 3 in the case
Yes, you'd be fine with the 3 fans in a g360a
it can be crazy sometimes but it's usually just not that bad
Alr then I'll get the G600a 👍
soon tm
Are there any good 1440p 140+ Hz monitors around $250? I'm currently planning to run a Gigabyte M27Q buy I saw some bad reviews on Amazon
Also I really like the look of Gigabyte monitors so if there are any that would be preferred
I recommend #old-monitors-and-tv
Oh true
the gigabyte M series monitors are pretty good.
right now 32gb is cheap enough that you just might as well for any midrange+ pc
Anyone in so cali who can help with my upgrades
True.
helping a friend build his pc. He has a id cooling se 214 xt.
the power coming off of the fan has a 3 pin and 4 pin.
this is the specs on their website, does this mean it is safe to plug both 3 pin and 4 pin in?
the 3pin is for argb
yeah, so it would be ok to plug the 4 pin into cpu fan 1 and 3 pin into argb 1?
I know, its addressable or something along those lines. I was just double checking, I dont want to be the reason my buddy screws hit system.
look up his motherboard and it should tell you how many 3 or 4 pin fan headers there are
the fan should have 2 cables, one is for power and that one goes to the 4 pin fan header, and the other is the cable for RGB, that should go into the 3 pin argb header
you should plug both but each one use a different header
👍 ❤️
you cant mix'em
is there a way to remove windows and everything off of a hard drive? he is bringing his old hard drive to his new pc but doesnt want to use the HDD to boot.
when he goes to install windows will it clear all data on the additional drives?
you can, yes
his old pc only has the one drive.
on the installation media it will give you an option showing your drives
you can format the drives there
before starting the new installation
in that image you have drive 0 and drive 1 as an example
you can format your hard drives there, and install windows on the drive you want
@potent portal i got informed that the 120mm aio cooler is brand new so thats good
Doesn't mean it hasn't corroded or clogged
That just happens over time, not use
At least the pump and fan would be ok
Hi guys! Does anybody have or can put together a decent budget/low midrange ITX build? The case is already taken care of: H210. There is access to a microcenter, which is Dallas
idc about 4k or any of that other stuff. for just a regular hd monitor is this a good deal?
is this a good build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gWT8Nc and https://www.newegg.com/G-SKILL-32GB/p/20-374-451
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Lian Li Lancool II Mesh C RGB ATX Mid Tower
you dont need the windows key
^ you can buy the key off a 3d party cite for 20ish$s
Got mine for $2
heres my build. its already paid for. wish me luck puttin it together when it gets here. I did order some extra case fans off amazon and a white power cable kit for my power supply from amazon as well. i just dont know how to add them to that list. i only came out over budget by about 150 bucks. not a big deal.
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700K, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB, HYTE Y60 ATX Mid Tower
That’s not a good deal; 1080p at that size you’ll also start getting a screen door affect (you’ll see individual pixels) at $200 you should be able to grab a ok 1440p panel
It’s $50 more atm but I’d suggest this https://a.co/d/31PW8YZ
You can add custom items at the bottom of the list
I tried to by searching the items up but it kept saying no results or had stuff that had nothing to do with what I was looking for.
having trouble finishing the build.
we are trying to figure out which side is positive, which is negative.
https://download.asrock.com/Manual/B660M Pro RS.pdf here is the mobo.
but the main issue is with the HDD LED and Pwr switch. there is a small arrow on one side. but the PDF manual I opened is really laggy and hard to read.
cases is NZXT H500i
There's the "manually create part" button if the search fails
Switches/buttons don't care about polarity but LEDs do. The one with the arrow is positive on the wires.
which displayport cable is best to use for hd 240hz? i need about 4 to 5 feet of it.
yeah def not worried about whatever a cable costs after what i spent today

Most monitors come with a cable that will meet the best spec it supports
woulda been nice to know like an hour ago.
this is the first monitor ive ever had that has a displayport. figured most companies cheap out and only give you some basic low quality hdmi cable. i know i had a good laugh at the ps5 hdmi cable that came in the box
its literally 23 and a half inches. or according to inches to mm converter its 596.9mm long
i aint hangin my ps5 on the wall behind my tv lol
I still use my ps5 hdmi cable
seriously? lol
It's a good 2.1, takes a lot of abuse
Yes
I mean it's plenty long enough to reach my big screen
im using whatever braided one i had laying around the house. theres no way i could use a cable tha'ts less than 2 feet for anything
And I've done like a full 180 kink at the plug and that thing is still kicking
It's a good cable you could probably even run over and it'd be fine

no handlebars right?
But can you guide a missile by satellite
yo guys, new question 😄 any thoughts on the asus tuf vg27aq? 1440p ips 165hz monitor
Totally not worth $300 when X27Q exists
M27Q is better for the same price as that Asus
The Gigabyte M27Q is a much better gaming monitor than the HP X27q. The Gigabyte has a faster response time, especially at lower refresh rates, resulting in much clearer motion with less blur around fast-moving objects. The Gigabyte also has better compatibility with the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles, as it can display a downscaled 4k image.
I'm just bringing the receipts for you 😉
yeah sadly im kinda hand-tied on options around here, too few outlets that sell gaming monitors on Ecuador
my options around here are: vg27aq, m32q, vg32aq and the g55a
M32Q would be good, just a larger M27Q
32 inches at 1440p is still ok if you're not too close to the screen
how much is "too close"... also 32" on 1440p wouldn't hurt quality?
sit like 45-50 cm from the screen
F.... 23 is like.... ok yeah, extremely too close
Hey y'all, I am building a new PC (for the first time) and am also an idiot. I see that the windows 11 OEM digital download says it's for use on a new PC. How does one install the digital download on a new PC that doesn't have an OS already? I'm sure this is a super rudimentary question, but I appreciate the help in advance.
i would assume you download it to a usb drive and use that but i'm probably wrong
Install the windows install onto a flashdrive using a secondary computer, that you then insert into the new computer
That simple? I appreciate the help
Yeah you're overthinking it. It's simple, it asks when you're installing for the key.
I'm famous for this
Well yeah but its best to watch a video on it, incase you need to do something in BIOS to actually start the windows install, sometimes happens. Also certain safety measures most vids advise you to make
Every wonder what to do AFTER you build your new PC? Here's what to do next!

ive been watching a lot of jays 2 cents since last night and also linus tech tips. they seem to be really helpful. tbh i probably should have just watched those videos instead of comin here. but theres a few cool people here.

Just me or has there been very few PC pics lately?
i'll post mine when the parts get here and i get it put together if you want.
You can see mine in my hwbot subs
I'm due for a cleaning so maybe I'll dust it and take a couple to post here
My solution to fit the AIO is... interesting
....
You came up with a new solution for the Fractal?
Yea, I bet its going to look pretty neat.
Yes, I fit the LF2 420 into the Torrent.
Well, into, more like, onto.
With the cover on it too now?
Nope
Oh, so same as before?
Yeah still doesn't fit inside the case without a dremel
Oof.
Would you be willing to sacrifice a bottom fan slot to make it fit?
I remember a video where the guy made it fit by sacrificing the bottom fan slot (barely fit, he had to brute force the AIO in a bit).
I have the 180s mounted on the bottom, I could manage with only one giant fan blowing directly into my GPU lol
Hold up.
I can mount 180mm fans on the bottom?
Thought 140mm was the biggest that can fit.
Im gonna put my LF2 420 in my daily temporarily
Oh I thought only 120/140 could fit in the bottom.
After I finish my build, ngl I kinda wanna see what a water cooled system would look like in the torrent.
Full custom cooling.
I find it hilarious how small that GPU looks in that picture also. That's a 3080 ti FE lmao, not small in the least.
The forced perspective and the size of the case and fans make it look puny though
Lmao yea.
Hopefully the 4090 Aorus will fit right in.
Btw not exactly what I was thinking of but still pretty cool.
I was picturing push/pull rads on all slots.
That's the Torrent Compact right? Nice case still
No it's the big boi I believe
The rad hides the lowest couple slot covers. Push pull on rads barely helps
I know.
Yeah I'd just put a monsta dual 180 rad and slap the 180s on it instead
More for aesthetics.
Also DAYUM.
Check that beauty out.
Another clean build.
Custom loops are nice but having to add a water block to your card every time you upgrade would be a pain
Unless you spend mad extra on a pre-made one
Yeah that's a once every 3-4 years or so problem
If you're the person that absolutely has to have the latest thing then yes custom liquid cooling is a pain
There's a lot of unnecessarily long tubing in that last build too, kinda just looks cluttered to me as a result
Either that's the aesthetic they were going for or they didn't plan the runs very well
I do like the distro plate and 90s to straight tubes in the middle (gold) one
after a long research yeah, i decided for the m32q, seems like a better m27q and as you guys said, much better over the vg27aq
its by design, note how most of the tubing has the appearance of being parallel to each other
Still looks cluttered to me
then you arent looking at it properly
that run from the cpu to the gpu is exactly what it needed to be
Well it is just my opinion so feel free to dismiss it
im just a sucker for good design, regardless of how it actually looks
That radiator placement looks weird to me too but I know that was intentional to get that "parallel" aesthetic
Could have easily used half the tubing they did overall. Maybe I just hate waste in general...
fair
@potent portal can you recommend a decent budget mobo that's atx for am4?
maybe like 100-130?
For what processor exactly, and USA?
No plan to upgrade that 3600x later?
not anytime soon
yeah I was looking at that falcie
Not a lot of extras on it but that'll do the job just fine, could upgrade to a 5800X3D later if you wanted
that's fine thank's
No argb header so keep that in mind. It's 12v rgb not 5v argb.
$10 more gets you an argb https://www.newegg.com/asus-prime-b550-plus/p/N82E16813119323
that don't matter

Need help
A few days ago some of you advised that the RX 6700 xt would be a decent upgrade GPU for my alienware aurora r7.
So far ive reset cmos, uninstalled the video drivers, reseated the gpu and still stuck with the same alienware logo screen. It will not open bios or the boot menu screen. My old RX 580x gpu still works on my r7 mbd.
Both 8 pin power plugs are in?
well, presumably yes
given that they're getting video output
They were. Had followed the general chat for a bit but had to come here
Anyways, can you boot to Windows with Secure Boot disabled?
I can but i want to ensure that is all im changing in the boot setup
Welp going to save and let it reset
Blue screen
Whatever you guys are wanting me to do is fragging my pc
Its rebooting
Oooo
unbootable device maybe?
And back to blue screen
Ah
Bloody hell
I wonder
@heady kayak would having blanks in the pcie slot cause something like this
No
Oh have you set the pcie spec to max at gen 3 or whatever it is
bruh
@little osprey re-enable secure boot
and well, give up on the 6700 XT
I know what the issue is, I don't think you can get around it...
i7-8700?
I don't know if Dell ever updated these for 9th gen, so assume 8th gen
Vga doesn't really need a mobo to be bios updated no?
Can you enable ahci in the bios
I was told by the guys here little over a week ago that the 6700 xt was compatible.
unfortunately your system seems to be enforcing secure boot, and without a Windows reinstall
there will be no way to get the 6700 XT to work
Now its running diagnostic after setting up the secure boot enabled
Maybe it's firmware locked?
This isn't normal behaviour btw @little osprey
I do
Didnt touch the blasted thing
Hold on.
Turning off and reseating everything.
Can you get us the M.2 SSD model?
Maybe @mossy venture is right, might've switched SATA modes...
I've had the boot device error cos I switched off ahci for a bench
Didn't realise I basically made the windows drive unreadable like that so flipping it back made it work
Yeah, Windows is kinda stupid...
You can disable secure boot enforcement in registry with the 580 back in, then swap to the new GPU with secure boot off
don't think it's necessarily a secure boot issue funny enough
sounds like disabling secure boot flipped other switches within the bios
Dell stoopid
Well it is an 8th gen too, it might even need things toggled like CSM/UEFI mode
I have the bios finally opened. Can we put it back the way it was. Ive switched on the secure boot back on
Discord is bugging out on my phone so I'm not going to be much help right now. I'll be back home in about an hour.
Onboard nic is set to the boot device, windows boot loader is third
Is that really the whole bios
Thats the boot section of bios that these guys had me adjusting when someone could have figured out that the gpu 6700 xt is not for my aurora r7
Ok, hold up. This isn't our fault.
Other people successfully upgraded
This troubleshooting is how we are finding that it isn't compatible.
Ive never had to do this on my old xps. Swapped the video with an upgraded comaptible and tjat was it
Yes and that's how it should be
I'd try this
I'll repeat also, your boot order is wrong, set windows boot loader to #1
Go to the storage section and enable ahci
Before i disabled the secure boot, it was originally there already
Yes you'll turn secure boot back on
But you'd do it after booting to windows with it off and the 580 in
Then shut down, swap 6700xt in, boot to windows, hopefully works
And try enabling ahci
Ahci is a known fix for a sata ssd even if it is an m.2
Which btw for 8th gen intel sata m.2 was common
< Has an old 8th gen system that used a sata nvme
My Grandpa's intel extreme or whatever it's called PC from probably 4th gen era has NVMe drives
Yes but this is alienware
Using the same chassis from 1998
Boards with green pcb's and 120 aios for 12900k's
They will cut costs where people don't easily understand
Much like pre-builts do with stuff like psu's
Ok had to cool off and take a breather.
This pc has the i7 8700 with the following
Hm ok it's not sata
Try this next
As for the boot menu options those were the only options
Yes but their order is important
Ill give that a try then
I just switched the boot manager as 1st, ipv4 as 2nd and ipv6 as third
Ye
Anything else?
Nothing jumps out at me yet
Now it shows the secure boot disabled with the 580 in. Though i did notice the legacy option ROMs is now enabled
Should i just continue to save and reset?
Well its loaded finally to my windows and my desktop. Shut down and now install the new card
Ye give it a go
I would also consider maybe contacting alienware support as well at some point, they are more likely to have encountered this issue
Again I'll say this is totally unusual behaviour, should be perfectly fine to just swap cards out like you did in the other pc
PCI express is widely compatible and allows that sort of thing
heh, Dell support being useful
Well dell is out of question since this pc is out of their service warranty
Nah, they may know about this, warranty or not
Who's to say they've sent someone a replacement gpu and the same thing has happened? 🙂
Better than us trying to rack our heads and coming up blanks
They might have you put a message up on the support forum, where you get Dell specialists to answer your questions
Often they're former employees or engineers
I had weeks ago try to switch out the samsung pcie m.e nvme with a 1tb crucial p5 version but that never worked
Even after cloning to the new one. It kept saying does not recognize the boot drive
After a full clone???
Yes
Ok before i turn on this is what it looks like
Was this like, macrium reflect so you got the recover and boot partitions as well
Or something similar
Looks fine
I used crucials cloner
Hm not familiar with that one but I would presume it'd work in another pc
My intuition is that this might be a firmware lock
Especially after learning about the crucial ssd
Ok the 6700xt is running. Hdmi is plugged in and i have the bios pulled up
Ok enable legacy option roms and make sure windows boot manager is option 1
Found that Dell forum I mentioned
https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R7-RX-6700-XT-not-working/td-p/7882929
Have a R7 with 8700K and upgraded 850 W power supply. Purchased a new MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card to upgrade my old 1060 that came with the computer. Card fits into case, I have all the correct power connectors (2 x 8 pin) When I turn computer on all a get is the Alienware screen. It gives m...
Secure boot disabled
There's 4 options to disable to bypass the Dell GPU only lock
Ok secure boot is still in disable mode, legacy option rom is enabled, windows boot mgr is option one.
Give it a shot, if not, try what falcie just linked
SMM Security Mitigation DISABLED
UEFI Bootpath Security DISABLED
Secure Boot OFF
Windows capsule bios updates DISABLED
Ok looks like is running. Strange loading screen compared to what it was originally
Now all i need to do is install driver for it
It should auto install the driver since you had the 580 drivers
Omg the resolution is horrid.
Yes, as the standard windows driver will be
Give it a minute to install, then you can fix it
I need the radeon amd driver for it right?
Finally that headache i hope will be in the past. At least for another 2 yrs until i save enough for a new pc anyways.
Is there a way to get the crucial pcie m.2 nvme. I couldnt get them refunded but it would be nice to go from the 500 gb to the 1tb
Ok, so the cloning method wasnt working, or did i miss a step in the process?
Try cloning again but with macrium reflect free
I'm not familiar with crucials cloning tool, it likely works but I can be more helpful with macrium
Ok the site for the macrium is offering for backup, im not seeing anything for cloning
Ye it does clones and images for backup
Ye the free edition
Took a few steps but its installing
And restart
As long as the hardware doesnt fail i did make a backup on an external wd hdd just in case
Before doing all this
Alright. I have the macrium program running.
The old drive would still be usable worst case anyway, it's just reading
Once you're in click the m.2 drive then I believe it's "clone this disk"
Then select the crucial and drag all of it onto the crucial, main windows section last then click on that and select "fill space"
That'll expand the drive to use all 1tb instead of keeping it at a 480-ish gb size
But expand it for your files and stuff
Damn that blends in. Ok gotcha
I think i have it right, though it has a weird extra in the destination.
yea copy partitions
Ok
shrink or extend to fill the target disk
then click next and then next
then I believe it's finish
it'll prompt for a backup, untick the backup (you've already backed it up elsewhere)
then run this clone now ticked
then I think it's either next or finish or ok
then it should start, might need something else clicked
then let it do it's thing
when it's done, you can shut down, swap the drives, then boot it back up and see if it works
granted we solved the 6700xt this should work but the solution fal posted might also help
Yeah the 6700 xt appears to be fully functioning now.
that's great
Ill need to cable manage everything. I have the pc in a tower stand that rolls under my desk to save on desk space
So i was picking up and putting down each time to find the gpu fix
I might let it run the cloning process and just crash for the night and finish tomorrow
Yeah, ill work on the m.2 installation tomorrow. Have a good night
normally that would work but we'd have to find out
you might need to change the boot order again
but ye all good
cya later 👋

ooo sweet
Glad to see you guys getting it working.
I know I should t buy a 4080 but man it's tempting right now.
Why shouldn't you?
It's expensive like everything else high end this gen but not the worst value at least
I think these might be for my graphics card that's on its way but I just wanted to ask to make sure since I'm getting the plastic cable holders on. But is that what these cables are for? I think it's a 6+2 cable?
it tells nvidia that we support $1200+ 80 class cards
yes
maybe the 5080 will be $2000 😄
I thought they were under 1k
I haven't looked at prices though
Sheesh
some 4090s are above 2k msrp
highest is 2.1k
plenty of 4080s are available at 1.2k
but 1.2k is still a bad price
Enthusiast pc builders are in the fall I believe in the future building a pc will no longer be viable
I was just going over my order screen and seen this. Is this for the cooler or what is it?
Yes, it's for mounting the CPU cooler
check if your cpu cooler has a 1700 bracker
it says it does but i wont know until it gets here. 🤷♂️
Plenty of people use 10 series or 20 series cards still like 1060s, 2060s, 1070s
They’re actually pretty good
Imagine that on a birthday card
"You know what? You're decent"
"I can tolerate you"
random question, do portable duplex printers exist? I need one for my patrol vehicle.
anybody worked with the H7 Flow? general thoughts?
A little below average for performance but the build quality and looks are alright
Well, not below average performance but still average https://youtu.be/Mt27luCbjmI
NZXT just launched its new H7 Flow and H7 Elite cases, ranging from $130 to $200. The H7 Flow is one of the best cases we've looked at in a while, although the Elite misses a step.
Sponsor: Montech Century 850 on Amazon: https://geni.us/s2aV
In this review, we're benchmarking the new NZXT H7 Flow and H7 Elite versus some of the other top cases ...
Yeah for that same price of $130 you could get the Torrent compact which has some of the best GPU temps GN has ever tested
Plus rgb
good case, weird price
I finally got my Radiator wedged into my PC case. Only took a power drill.
It was too close to the motherboard before, couldn't plug in the CPU power cable and the fan screw holes were too far apart.
I usually plug in the CPU power before I put the motherboard into the case. Nice solution though, that case was clearly never intended for liquid cooling on the top.
the big fans will fit fine in the top though so that is good
I will set that up in a pull method.
Yeah I am gonna do the same, plug in the modular CPU cables first and just slide it under.
When I put the fans in the top ones I can screw all the way down and the ones over the grill I will screw those down just a couple of turns just to catch so they don't go through the grill underneath.
would a 3600 bottleneck a 6700
At 1080p, sometimes. At 1440p, no.
Not at 4k
That sometimes depends on what game it is. Heavily single threaded games like MMOs and simulators will make it hurt.
The bottleneck in that configuration is probably gunna be the cpu tho in general, it’ll work fine like fal said at 1440p
should I go for a 6650xt or a 6600 instead
Nah it doesn't hurt to have a stronger GPU for the games that can use it
If you go overkill on anything the GPU is the one to do
👍🏻
6700 is kinda overkill for 1080p, but similarly said, you'll get a lot of life out of it at 1080p
Down the line when they are like $100 you can always pick up a 5800x3d
Definitely if they go that low 😂
The 1800X is barely down to $100 so that'll be a while lol
Is oloy blade ram better than mushkin
That is used 💀
X3d brr

16-20-20-38
Not sure about the other one can’t find it for some reason
Pretty weak, Ryzen 3600 would prefer to have 3600 speed for better infinity fabric latency
It would be doable though
If you can get the memory to clock that high
275 qar sounds close to the lowest price for ram we saw
That's an old issue that's been fixed for years with bios updates. My 2700 got to 3466 with a little coaxing.
Man my 2700 refused to like anything over 3000
There’s this
Better
But I’ve been seeing reviews people are saying they’ve been sent fault ones
Should I risk it
I'll take a look
You know what’ll match the ram aesthetic? The new artic p12 max fans
Ik I’m just messing around don’t mind me
There's about a 5% chance it looks like. It's up to you if you want to take that risk or spend more on a more reliable brand. I know claiming warranty can be hard in some countries.
Can you find me another ram without that chance same price or maybe little more it’s ok
Hang on I'll connect my VPN so I can see local prices
Would you be using UAE or Saudi Amazon?
Shipping is expensive pretty sure
But I’ll check
They don’t even ship here somehow
Getting case & psu locally
One of these would be good I think. They're all the same speed and timings, 3600 18-22-22-42. G.Skill and Kingston are the most reliable brands overall out of the five.
https://www.newegg.com/global/qa-en/Product/Productcompare?CompareItemList=20-226-989%2C20-242-755%2C20-232-928%2C20-331-545%2C20-177-114
Also forgot to mention
For the cpu I’m going for stock cooler
Any thermal throttling gonna be happening?
That's fine. The 3600 is really low power and low heat.
Will get Kingston
👍🏻
If it starts to overheat during the summer you can always get a cheap tower cooler.
It gets really hot here
There’s a slight chance I might have to go with a 6600 or 6650xt would it still be a good pc
Definitely, especially for 1080p
I heard 2 fan gpus are bad
If you want to be safe you can get this https://www.newegg.com/global/qa-en/deepcool-ag400/p/N82E16835856221
Is that true
Only on the high end models. Midrange like the 6650 XT it's fine.
Only get this if you have room left in the budget for nothing else
Then won’t be getting

Id cooling se 214xt is 5$ cheaper eee
Ohh nvm newegg put me on the US site
What you can do to reduce temps is lower the voltage of the CPU and GPU when Summer rolls around.
Getting the 6650xt for around 1200qr any gpus better than that for the price
If it's the MSI Mech I'd avoid that one, it's a cheap aluminum cooler and the only model I'd really avoid.
It is
It's worth going with the Asrock then https://www.newegg.com/global/qa-en/asrock-radeon-rx-6650-xt-rx6650xt-cld-8go/p/N82E16814930070
Alr. Back to my question
At least then you get some copper on there.
Any better
Fine if a little more
Not on newegg without going up to the 6700 for 1345
Where else
I don't know what other online retailers would be available, maybe aliexpress but I'd never buy a GPU from there.
Yes
And this is why you don't order a gpu from ali https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003932662395.html
That's a laptop 3070 on a desktop card
or should I get a 6600 because I’ve seen people say performance between both isn’t much of a difference
💀💀💀💀💀
6600 XT specifically would be good, avoid the non-XT in this case that actually is a good bit less performance
How many years would it last me before needing a upgrade
No idea what games the future will bring but you'll be able to do 1080p high gaming for a good while
This one
that's a question no one has an answer for
So this one is good right
There's some good tech being developed right now for upscaling so hopefully it lasts a good while thanks to FSR
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 6600 XT, Thermaltake S200 TG ARGB ATX Mid Tower
everything fine?
also forget about shipping it is free because I went over 750
Just waiting for gpu, mobo, case, and aio! (and 1 extra single fan thats taking 2 weeks longer than the other stuff so I'm just gonna build it without a rear exhaust temporarily 😭)
These irl developers should've added a time skip button so I can just go to when it all arrives 🙄
Why not just go to micro centre or Best Buy
Hello. Has anyone seen any new nice cases?
I wanna build another pc so bad
There’s way too many
