how do you not notice over 60 fps
you would find a very big different
between 144hz and 60hz
it feels heavenly
when i switched from 60hz to 144hz
Someday 1000hz and we cna finally get input latency like a crt might've had, or something like that.
. I will say, even just 120hz is so nice VS 60. Still getting used to it.
I still notice 60 on desktop
bro maybe with 100m hz we can see the future
so much skipping
no soda makes you see faster
Quantum computer lol
Be even desktop screen I can't tell
when you get lasered by someone at 5 miles with an xm4 with no recoil
Okay only place I notice is is when I scroll discord very fast
Back and forth through my servers
But not enough
LOL
Hey I need some help I’m confused,,,
Alright so I’m very very VERY new to computer specs and such, I bought this acer gaming laptop of Amazon and it said it was 4.6 ghz , and I am now starting to realize that instead of it being intel icore7 4.6ghz it says intel icore7 2.30 ghz,
Am I doing something wrong? Am I able to fix this problem somehow? Or did I get scammed by the company
(Once again I’m very new to specs and such so please cope with me)
@tidal moth
I can’t really send images since it’s disabled in this chat
Okay so cpu clocks are a fluid thing
They depend on the load
And the temperature
So
When you play a game your cpu will “turbo” essentially upclock when it needs the performance and down clock to save battery
So it will boost to its temperature limit
Essentially it can boost up to 4.7
Oh I see
But can I send you a picture in dms of what I am talking about?
That's the boost clock, if it were to run at 4.6 constantly it would not be good for heat, health of the laptop, or usability
Im looking for a logical way to connect 5 computers via ethernet while also maintaining internet service to each one.
our internet box only has 4 lan and 1 wan, so if we split the 5 computers across 2 modems, we cant all participate in a lan game I.E. 7 days to die, minecraft, cod zombies, or any other Lan capable games.
Might be a better way, but the solution to me would be to get a modem that supports more ethernet.
our terrible (another word in mind) service provider is still using like first generation dsl that we havent found modems for that dont cost as much as a car down payment, they are quite pricey
But.. shouldn't you be able to play lan if you bridged the 2 modems?
never heard of that
thanks, ill check it out
another thing that may become an issue is the 2 router/modem combos provided by the company, tend to flip flop dying, so in like 2 hour intervals they just pick one to lose connection for about a half hour. quite annoying honestly
Sounds like you just need a new modem. Might be worth the money to pick one up since..
- Yours suck
- You need more ethernet ports anyways.
I mean that in the nicest way possible.
I wouldnt mind how you meant it, they really do suck.
guys what mobo is this?
M8400t is7xm
Prebuilt
Yep
I didn't see a simple switch mentioned. Look into that.
thank yall
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 GT 80 Plus Gold 1000W
For a Ryzen 5800X and 3080
Yay or nay?
1000W def overkill
Yes but i wouldn't get a GT, G6 1000w or 850w g6 atm are the best ones to get if you're in the US anyway
Guys I did it I built the ultimate pc
Mhm
I can't send the picture but trust me it's amazing
impossible
this is the ultimate pc
PC Builder - Intel Core i9-12900KS, GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, Thermaltake View 91 ATX Full Tower
(borrowed from bacca san)
Bad SSD and a pretty meh case :p
😛
Just spam the 8tb rocket 4 plus smh
yeah should have the haf case from cooler master as well xD
G6 850
That is almost 10 grand holy
Nah hard tube water cool you add like 500
Might as well
I can throw a list together that would easily top it
pfft, 10 thousand?
Try 30 thousand of hardware in a single tower bruh 😄
Alright guys im doing a final build revision since im probably getting the parts later today, is there anything I absolutely need to change. Im not doing a ram or gpu upgrade https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bGgH78
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Zalman S2 ATX Mid Tower
What country?
Could spend a little bit extra to get a better mobo and wifi card https://pcpartpicker.com/list/p9HKKp
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Zalman S2 ATX Mid Tower
What vendor do you use?
German Amazon is... Unreliable at best
Whats wrong with the current mobo tho?
usually doesn't actually deliver
Not bad but a h610 is fine with a 12100f
However you get limited if you wanna upgrade higher up for another Alder lake cpu
B660 is the better option
Right now i just really need to get a pc for as cheap as possible and then in a few years ill upgrade everything
In a couple years, there will be much better options
Would do this for 10$ more
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FyNjBj
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower
The thing is i dont have a b&h anywhere near me
And the shipping price is gonna be absurd
Wifi cards in matx boards are very awkward
You're in the US, right?
Yep
This year is 13th gen, so if intel puts out new gens each year it would be 16th or 15th
Have you looked at the shipping prices?
Yes, but the b660 has wifi included and it's better
All around
If you want you can use Ethernet or a wifi adapter
Dude
Nvm, you're not the one buying
Not worth the effort
Is it free for orders over a certain price?
Just free shipping on that case
Afaik
Oh then yeah ill get the cougar
Wifi cards on matx boards give you a strict limit of 2 slot gpus which is a pain you don't have to deal with, getting the built in is 5$ more plus a better mobo
Whats the difference between the mx 330 and 330g
Not much, but the 330g air comes with 3 fans instead of 1 or 2 can't remember
^
@frigid night #build-pics message
I hope you step on a lego for that omne'
Just replace the noctua fan with an arctic p12 rgb, same with case fans if you want
Strap them on there
Wherever you think it would look good. You are the one that gets to admire it the most after all.
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
H212 is not a good heatsink
It's old and overpriced
No need for that mobo, can just get a pro vdh wifi if it's cheap
aside from that looks fine
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
i wanna deck out this pc with a budget of around $2200 Lmk if there’s anything wrong with this custom build
Are you overclocking at all?
probly not since i’m just starting to get into pcs
Ok so I would change a lot of this then
2200 is a lot more than this type of build could actually cost too
what would you change
What kind of stuff will you be doing with this pc?
im making a list rn
Gaming? Editing? Streaming?
i want 2tb and a good frame rate on most games and some video editing on after effects
Ok so about where I think this list should land will be with 32gb ram, 12700F and a 3080 12gb
It should only cost some 1600-1800 as well
Not 2200
Could get a nice 1440p high refresh monitor with the rest of the budget
(Waiting for forg to make it lol)
also i really like the 4000d airflow and if it’s not good i won’t get it but i’m willing to spend a bit more if it’s not good for the price or what ever
i just want rob fans idc about rgb ram
rgb*
if you like it its good, imo g360a is a better buy rn but 4000d airflow is still a great case
4000D airflow is good and you can toss a few RGB fans in if you want
mhm, p12 argb or p14 argb
if you want 2tb of ssd storage, id do this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FWrC4s
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
otherwise could swtich to 1tb p31 and 4tb hdd if you need a lot of storage
or just the 1tb ssd
I would change the ram to 3200, no guarantee it runs in gear 1 due to SA voltages
nah, 3600 is fine on a 12700f
4000 is where it gets iffy
< 1st hand experience of it not working
thats just unlucky then tbh
CPU must have had a really bad IMC
I think sips said it in here before too
is water cooling better in anything besides looks because i don’t really like how air cooling looks
i mean, you could throw in a liquid freezer ii 280 if you wanted
id be willing to spend like $100 more
or clc 280, but youd want to replace fans with p14s
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
clc isnt on sale anymore, ignore that part
itll get better cpu temps, but with a locked cpu tbh it wont matter much. Won't make a huge difference
Maybe throw in the TG contact frame if tiji is comfortable working with bare pins, that'll help keep the CPU temps under control
honestly i’m very new to this stuff but really want a cool/good pc so thank you guys because i’ve been worried about different things not working together and i don’t want to get a prebuilt
Smart move not going prebuilt, the high end ones are almost all total ripoffs
also i already have a monitor/kbm
idc the name but it’s 144hz and full res
1080
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pqzhP6/phanteks-eclipse-g360a-atx-mid-tower-case-ph-ec360atg_dbk02 also what do you think of this case?
with a 3080, i would recommend a 1440p monitor
what hz?
I do 1440p 165Hz and I'm constantly above that in fps
with my 3060 ti, the most demanding game ive played was cold war
In nearly every game I play
not including rtx, with settings on max, i hit 140 consistently at 1080p
i’m sure the pc will be overkill but starting with that i’ll eventually upgrade more and more
is 1440 necessary to get my moneys worth with a 3080?
i mean, yes and no?
You're losing some of the benefit of a top tier GPU by not using it's full power
the thing is the rest of the budget won't get you much extra perf, so I'd spend the rest of the budget on a g27q
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6sxbTn are there any big issues with this build?
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
You can make 1080p look better and use the GPU more using DSR to scale it down
okay
theres some slight tweaks id make, but technichally speaking everything will work
You can make some savings there but it's not bad
like what
h510 flow is just a bit overpriced for what it is, id get p14s instead of those fans
pro vdh wifi b550 insted of that mobo
its for my brother and he likes the case and dosnt mind overpaying
ill just change them, one sec
alright
i want a 4000d with rgb fans 32 gb of ram and 2tb also water cooling is the 3080 overkill?
or is it worth it aslong as i have a better monitor?
water cooling a 3080 is pointless for you
how so?
it just wont make a difference
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
What why
i do plan on getting a better monitor
their brother wants the h510 flow, and considering itisnt the regular or elite its fine
i made the mistake of buying the normal h510
but why is water cooling bad? since i can get a build for cheaper i want to have water cooling for looks
since i have a high budget
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
is there a different between the se-214 and the se-224?
Water cooling isn't bad
water cooling a gpu just isn't very doable, not easily or cheaply
youre looking at 3k+ to watercool
and its only worth it if youre already buying a 12900ks and 6950xt
@oak jay
thanks
excuse me not knowing anything about this stuff but are you talking cpu cooling or something else
is this gpu a bad option?
liquid cooling a gpu is very different from cpu
for $525
it has very bad cooling
alright
sorry i think i said it wrong i meant water cooling for the cpu
i put an aio in there for the cpu
whats the difference between the g skill ram and the corsair ram?
in the list for you
corsair doesnt make good ram
if unlucky, youll get a kit with mixed dies
meaning it wont even run xmp
alright
$5 more for the gaurantee is worth it
seems like i did everything wrong with my build two years ago lmfao
i didnt spell that right
i got an h510, msi gpu, corsair ram
F
i wasnt too smart but also it was mid gpu shortage so it was what i could get
my laptop died and i paid 600 bucks for a 3060 ti
i promise you i did worse with my build
you can laugh
i essentially paid $1200 for a 3060 ti, 3600, and 1tb ssd
oof
You can still use the ventus without losing performance by undervolting it, so it runs cooler and boosts higher
whats the difference between these?
not much
for a 5600, 214xt is perfectly fine
im gonna go with the se-224 if thats not a bad idea
what’s the best aio with rgb?
Lf2
liquid freezer ii 280 argb
also would it improve things to go with an atx motherboard?
If you want more rgb, galahad or ek
You guys are fast lol, I can't keep up with my stupid autocorrect happy phone
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mfxmmr this one
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
i type surprisingly fast on my phone
"autocorrect"
last i checked smthn like 90wpm
Perfect answer lol
this is perfect
i’m gonna buy the monitor separately tho
kk
tysm
Wth it played 2 different gifs until I scrolled up
Discord being discordant I guess
But then some other one with a guy blowing a kiss
it says “Note: The ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 A-RGB 68.9 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the MSI PRO B660M-A WIFI DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard.
Disclaimer: Some physical dimension constraints are currently not checked, such as CPU coolers and RAM clearance.”
can someone explain pls😭
itll come with it
oh ok
unless you somehow get stock from almost a year ago
Older stock used to not, but that's pretty well all gone. You'll get it.
alr thanks
i think ima put the parts i have for my rebuild together
it feels weird just having them sitting around
what’s a good monitor that’s 24 inch
are you going for 1080p or 1440p?
1440p
1440p 24in monitors dont make much sense
then I'd go 27inch G27Q
They also barely exist anymore at high refresh
Not really. Curved monitors are generally VA panels which have worse viewing angles than an IPS panel
Curved so that it's always at the same view distance to your face based on where yoy should sit
But i wouldn't say better
Just QoL option if anything
Ideally you'll want to get IPS, having said that I have both, and like both.
just buy oled
damn you're rocking one of those?
just sounds like a swear word
Haha
Yeah ditched triple screen and I don't regret
New meta
I got way more desk space, a bit less screen budget and no more nvidia driver issues every time I update lol
im out here with a tn OMEN X 24.5 and a ips XG270QG
issues?
Surround would always bug out
the 27m was $70 on clearance. marked down by like 60%
Ooo
I guess the omen listing on best buy is weird... its actually https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/hp/omen-x-25f
The best of the TN panels tho
I like the aesthetics tho, destiny vibes
this is my main monitor tho https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/viewsonic/elite-xg270qg
the color on the omen is so finicky
On the 27ips it’s outstanding
its almost always too warm
Sheesh
I hate it
You can't hate something so perfect though. I wish my circuits were so neatly arranged and compact.

What case is that?
No idea
Probably a custom case
I'm all focused on the giant fan/heatsink while yall focused on the case lol
Yeah it's pretty large
Maybe partially because it needs to clear the ram and bend the heatpipes around to get the fan in that orientation idk
• Socket compatibility AMD: AM4 / AM3(+) • Socket compatibility Intel: 1200 / 2066 / 1150 / 1151 / 1155 / 2011(-3) Square ILM • Extremely high cooling performance with 230W TDP • Two heat sinks with anti-vibration rubber inserts • Six high-performance 6mm heat pipes • Silent Wings 3 135mm with fu...
I’m pretty sure that’s it
Ahh yes the team fortress 2
Ah yes
I was thinking more along the lines of "the F" but team fortress works
Nearly $300 for that, big yikes. I was more irked by psu & gpu fighting eachother for air but oh well.
Yeah these open cases aren't cheap lol
Form over function moment tbh
Kinda agree tho an AK620 would look fine there proportionally speaking
Clc 280
But even if it was like a 5600X the wraith cooler is good enough
Cl280 ram wha
Yes ddr8
Deedee are ate?

Just realized ddr6 is gonna have triple digit CL.
Yea a whole gen away so will be a while. Funny to think 10000+ MT/s isn't that crazy anymore.
I feel like at that point it's not a case anymore. It's a bench/stand/whatever.
It's not enclosed so imo that's no longer really a case. Does look neat though
on crap ddr5 5200
raptor lake seems to actually benefit it now
multi core went up by 20% in geekbench compared to ddr4 3200

timings not shown tho
better imc finally making use of the bandwidth lol
Imc wasn't the issue with ddr5 tbh it's the memory itself and the motherboards
Yeah, weren't a lot of earlyish release ddr5 mobos having issues with not being able to run ram at over 4400mhz?
Or was that just the gigabyte ax
No iirc MSI had that too with micron
Only with 4 sticks
1dpc boards aren't really having issues either now, newer IC's are running much faster than the first gen even on 12th gen
I don't expect 4 sticks to run well on ddr5 until we get quad channel cpus
Asrock steel legend
Sweet, did you get a good deal on the stuff?
Just asking out of curiosity why you went prev gen
They probably built when 12th gen wasn't out lol
yo can anyone help me?
https://gjirafa50.mk/ this site can anyone find me a gpu less than 450 or 500 change the money from dinar to euro
prices are up here so dont expect anything
anyone

I didn't need a i9 tbh and a I7 11700k was a great deal I only paid 374 for a mobo and spu combo
Ah, sweet deal, makes sense
Well it'll definitely be good for a damn long time, so enjoy it a lot! :3
ok can u go a little up like or stay l think u can find a little better
Nah there's nothing better
Next jump up is 3060 ti
palit company
u think is good
look at this
Thank you!
Brand doesn't matter
you guys see the deep cool aio yet? doesnt look half bad... https://www.amazon.com/DeepCool-High-Performance-Radiator-Auto-RGB-Customizable/dp/B09Y1LVCYH?
The DeepCool LS720 High-Performance liquid CPU cooler maximizes cooling performance and low-noise efficiency with a 360mm radiator, three FC120 FDB A-RGB PWM fans, and an infinity mirror cap design. Looks like it's going to be fine, not many reviews yet
far from half bad, its the best 360mm aio currently with the testing we have
yea l know but is palit good
a 420mm lf2 vs a ls720 would be a very interesting comparison
the rgb tax doesnt even exist on it it seems
yeah
i bet itll settle around $110 eventually
its really gonna stir up the aio market if its known about well enough
is this better than palit one
brand doesn't matter
No
yea l know bro
but am asking is a palit good company
Yeah they're fine
so that 3060 is better than all of the expensive ones ight
not better
theyre just all about the same
he meant best as in value
like, no point to spend $100+ over the cheaper one to get the same performance
Yo I’m building a comp right now and I’m trying to put my M.2 in. The screw doesn’t reach the hole. Can I just put my m.2 cover over it and leave it unscrewed?
those are standoffs, they screw into the motherboard hole and then you screw the screw into that
yeah
will this fit good with palit 3060 dual
just install one where the screw holding the m.2 will sit
Thanks a lot bro
np
Also on my motherboard a node is like bent. It came like that is it supposed to be like this?
got a picture of it?
It’s the B550-F
yeah
bend it back if it bothers you
Ahh ok ty I didn’t know what those were
they're attached to the motherboard by two little legs that are soldered in
@fossil cedar
those legs getting bent doesn't matter as long as the solder points hold contact
I got a mobo with 9 of those all bent
Ic thanks bro
💀
just bent them back no problems
LOL
Same performance but you save money
ight so asus dual and palit is alm same
Also should I take the sticker off the m.2 cover. The sticker that covers the thermal pad on the cover. Not the sticker directly on the m.2
the only problem is if they get so bent that they get ripped off
yes
Both of them?
thermal pads don't work very well when they can't touch the chip they're supposed to cool
Cuz I don’t want the second to melt
Sorry I meant the second one since I’m not using a second m.2 slot
It won’t melt or anything?
Ahh ok ok
there's nothing generating heat there to begin with
That case and psu look ehhhhh but apart from that ye
if you have empty slot
it's there to protect the thermal pad from like, dust and drying out
Ye
Right, I was thinking: “but what if the mobo heats up or something?”
ight thanks
don't lift that protective plastic unless you actually put an m.2 in there
but palit a bit better
if your mobo is getting hot enough to melt plastic you have more important things to worry about
and l save money
such as why your house is on fire
Same performance palit saves you money
Hi guys, what Thermal Paste would you guys recommend? Best quality!
ok thanks
for a casual user just buy some arctic mx-4 and be done with it
arctic mx-4 might not have the absolute best thermal performance but it holds up for really long
some better pastes degrade faster and have to be reapplied more often
just bought a used laptop that the seller said he used IC diamond on a year ago
it was thermal throttling from web browsing
I see, it is better than coolermaster
replaced it with good ol mx-4 and dropped temps by 40c
coolermaster what
mastergel?
dunno
haha nevermind, I saw one called cooler master
all I know is that mx-4 lasts forever and the performance is good enough
I'll go with mx-4 then
interesting I order it haha thanks for your assistance!
enjoy
Do y’all recommend putting the radiator at the front or top?
Generally top
Yes
then front mount it
It’s the Corsair h100i elite
i am fairly certain the pump is not in the radiator for that one
Reason: Bad word usage
Oh mb
I only know the one MSI aio with the pump in rad
top mount is better in that case
Okok Tyty
however
the difference is really quite minimal
so... if front mount is easier or you like the look better, don't let it stop you
So what did you mean when you said the pump is built into the radiator
in yours the pump is built into the cpu block
Would you mind sending a pic so I’ll know what it looks like
The one you were talking bout before
Just for future reference
Mainly want pump to not be the highest point of the setup.
i only know of two designs with the pump in the radiator
vast majority have pump in the block
front mount is actually usually better for cpu temps
at the cost of slightly increasing your gpu temps
front mount is honestly completely fine lol
Would go with this psu instead
https://gjirafa50.mk/delovi-za-kompjuteri/resursi/600w-i-poveќe/izvor-na-energija-ladilnik-master-mwe-650-bronza-v2-650w

NZXT has one too
btw, am i tripping or did #building-and-recc-chat move
no no it moved
it definitely moved
pet pics was above it before

wha happen
it used to be below tech deals
maybe a mod moved it by accident lol
should i... should i move it back
it's been feeling off to me the whole day
btw the 230v one and the full range one are different PSUs and the page doesn't seem to list input voltage
if it's being sold on this site you can probably assume it's gonna work with 230W either way
move tech deals and discussion above build chat :p
one is tier b one is low priority tier c, different internals, forgot what makes the 230v one bad though
Like 2 months ago
definitely feels different
i was there for the meeting 2 months ago lol
it didn't use to be right below general
there was some channel between general and build chat
iirc tech deals
i feel like it was pet pics
i mean it would make sense that someone accidentally swapped build chat and pet pics
since they're still right next to each other now
I have all the pics channels muted for like the past year lol
i like looking at #build-pics
i don't go to #pets or #food-and-drinks though
except the one time i decided to share my cooking
lol
I don't like the fact that build pics and chat are seperated by pet pics
Although maybe that was the move
i don't either, but i don't wanna make changes without approval lol

I cba tbh, there's a psu tier list in the pins, the one i had was b tier, you want b tier or a tier
my psu is good dont need to do nothing
can i use these to plug into my cpu?
the semi modular part has a 4+4
but my motherboard has an 8 and a 4 and i want to know if i can just plug another cable in
Sometimes the the extra 4pin is unnecessary unless you have a very power hungry CPU or need extreme pc with lot of stability
These ones, and the psu side will be 8 pin the motherboard side will be 4+4 pin
Ignore the accidental arrow
lmao i was tryna figure out what that meant
so it is possible
so long as i put it in one of those three
a 4+4
tyty 🙏 lifesaver fr
Me tryna figure out where you at by the time on your screen
Mmmh
Must be
Iceland?
London
Portugal
You don't want to plug 4+4 pin directly to your psu, layout is different you may break it or start a fire
Btw it shouldn't physically fit
Sadly it does fit on too many units
Shouldn't being a key but scary word
I've also seen the gpu fit into GPU spot.
It’s ok if the fan wires are in between the radiator and the fan right
On my MSI a650gf the PCIe can fit into CPU but doesn't fully get in because of the clip that keeps it in place not being aligned
People need to be careful with modular units
Like pinched between them? Not ideal at all and risks damaging the cable
Can You add me so I can send a pic to you?
I saw an installation guide and they kept them in between the radiator and fan
My DMs are open
It is safe if you run the cable in the small space on the fan support
Ok ty
Yep but I'd not recomment out of the cable channel
Fan could either hit it or also the cable can be damaged by the fins
I see no reason to let it out
Unless your fan doesn't have a cable channel
Just run it around the outside of the fan which is indented
It needs to pass from the center of the fan where the motor is, trough the channel and then you move it where you want
My ram is blocking my AIO from being installed. I have a 240 mm AIO and I was told one of my alts was to install it in the front. However the front has 3 fans. Do I still install it in the front?
Just put the rad on the upper 2 fans.
has anyone ever bought a ibuypower pc i had mine running for about 30 mins played apex just to test her out everything ran good and all of a sudden it turned off and the power supply made a click sound and now i just have no power is that common with these things lol
newegg is sending me a new one (what should i do before plugging it in) ??
Clicking sounds like a PSU protection
So possibly a short somewhere in the system, like a loose screw or something shorting out the motherboard or something
hmm it was running totally fine when i was downloading games and everything
Yeah which is a little weird
do you think i could just buy a new power supply? and change them
Reason: Bad word usage
The issue is that it very well may not be the Psu's fault
If you can grab the model of the PSU, we could tell you how good it is
eh i’ll try and let you know on the next one
Alright
it was a 600watt
worse comes to worst i just get a refund if this next one breaks and build my own lol
Lol
are these really that hard to build
Not really
probably more reliable but i guess we will see with this next one lol
need an actual model number
wattage says very little
especially if it's a faked number
I don't think ibuypower would use power supplies so sketch that they have fake ratings
but they sell a $600 "gaming pc" with a gt 710 so who knows
Better than a $1300 "ultra high end gaming PC" with uhd 💀
mine had a gigabyte gtx 1050ti and a gigabyte motherboard but i’m not to sure about the power supply tbh
any ideas on what to check the second i get my next one?
i’m just very confused honestly i just wanted something cheap and for light gaming lol i’m hoping the next one doesn’t have issues
@desert gulch @earnest olive
there's no way a 600w psu shut off with a 1050ti prebuilt lol
i mean, it could be a random failure
you can try the new one if they're already sending it to you
but i heavily doubt it has anything to do with over power
well that’s what i was thinking lol and it seems like now when i read all the bad reviews apparently people have the same issue
I'm most likely thinking it's a direct short due to bad quality control
what’s that mean?
Like a screw came loose or something and is touching the motherboard where it shouldnt
It's just weird it would happen like 15mins into using it
yeah no i had it running for probably a hour getting all my old files on to it and downloaded apex and played apex for atleast 30 mins and everything went black then the rgb fans flicked on for a split second and then no power at all, i unplugged it and plugged back in nothing so then i contacted newegg and they will replace it (maybe with more details it may help you determine something)
@desert gulch
any idea?
Not really, if Newegg says they'll replace it then may as well do that
yeah i guess thanks for your help though! have a good day
On task manager it’s still reading 1600 mhz despite me turning on xmp. Can anyone help me out?
Your xmp is 3200?
Yes
DDR4 = double data rate 4 so that's correct
Otherwise it'd say like, 1333 or 1066 (2666 or 2133) if it wasn't working (standard jedec speed or not xmp in other words)
For my friend it reads double on his task manager. Is there a reason why it’s diff for me
Is he on ddr5?
Lemme ask
Huh, I didn't know it did both
And I can't deny it cos mine is showing full data rate

He is not
^
I'd say 450-500
Just a quick guesstimate
Not sure on that
100% they're lowballing you hard though
question, so i have my mb, my gpu, my case, and psu. but nothing else, would it be okay to install my gpu to my mb rn, and install the other parts as i get them?
or will that hurt my pc in the end
you have a point
Backplate as well for the cpu cooler if needed
Kinda optional tho (some need the cooler to go on)
personally I would wait to get everything, install cpu+cooler & ram onto motherboard, then motherboard into case, than gpu
you're not going to hurt the pc by installing gpu first but it might be harder overall
SSD goes in there almost first too
Assuming you have a m.2 drive
Ik I've been here before but could someone build me a PC for 1.5k Canadian?
It's gonna be for mainly gaming but all around work
When are you planning to buy?
soon
As in, a week, a month? PC market is just so volatile currently
like a week
whenever
I don't have time to make a parts list but I could point you in a direction
assuming you're buying new- rtx 3060ti or rx 6700xt
intel 12400f
650+ w psu,
1tb nvme
that's just based on converting your cad amount to usd, idk if prices are inflated there or not
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
Alternatively you could get the asrock challenger 6750 XT and save $50, that and the 3070 are pretty close in standard performance.
Check this out on @royal pelican: Acer Predator Helios 300 - 15.6" 144 Hz IPS - Intel Core i7 11th Gen 11800H (2.30GHz) - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU - 16 GB DDR4 - 512 GB PCIe SSD - Windows 10 Home 64-bit - Gaming Laptop (PH315-54-748Y ) https://www.newegg.com/abyssal-black-acer-predator-helios-300-ph315-54-748y-gaming/p/N82E16834360144?Item=N82E16834360144&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-34-360-144-_-07262022
Any recommendations?
Any laptops better for similar price?
i wouldn't get that
Do you recomend any?
Can I dm you?
Any suggestions for mobo for 5800x? I currently have 3000MHz ram and will need to be able to OC the ram
What kind of ram?
Corsair vengeance
I would get new ram if you want to oc that, unless the version number on it is really good on the back
Probably not the best ram to OC, but figured it might be worth a shot before going to 3600
Depends on the version number
If you can turn your pc off, pop one out and give us that version number on the back then you'll get to know if it can even do 3600
I wasnt necessarily thinking of going that high, but I can check
A lot of Corsair sticks are barely able to run their rated speeds
@potent portal any suggestions?
So more than the mobo, the ram is the part that needs analysis first because you might want new ram if you want to OC much if at all
Find that version number first
Mismatched bins?
So micron 4 gbit rev. B and some sort of nanya 8gbit
So this is definitely mismatched sticks
You won't get much out of OC, in fact auto timings probably all over the place on xmp lol
Both of those are trash
Swapping to a 2x16 kit would probably give a performance jump itself out of the automatic training
Ok.
What mobo you have rn?
I don't even remember it's an intel setup. MSI xxx Gaming Plus or something
If you can afford this, highly recommended for Ryzen https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zcH8TW/gskill-ripjaws-v-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c16d-32gvkc
Potentially not bad then
If it's anything like a b series or x series it should already be fine to get your first ram oc experience
B350, B550, X470 etc
It should say on the motherboard if you can find it
I was looking at a MSI B550 Gaming Plus or the Asus B550-F
Would change ram instead. I think your mobo is not the limiting factor
This would be alright if the other kit is too much https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sfxbt6/teamgroup-t-force-dark-za-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3600-cl18-memory-tdzad432g3600hc18jdc01
Fair enough, most people don't short of high end stuff
I just went to 32 in this current system to say I have it lol
16 cheap option https://pcpartpicker.com/product/768bt6/team-vulcan-z-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-cl18-memory-tlzgd416g3600hc18jdc01
16 nice option https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jBZzK8/gskill-ripjaws-v-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c16d-16gvkc
Any particular reason you suggested the brands you did? Once, I pick a mobo should I just check the QVL and get a 3600MHz kit based off that
QVL doesn't matter these days for modern DDR4 boards
Ok.
I mostly picked those based on price vs performance
If I'm going to buy faster ram and don't need to OC or want to OC the CPU, is any B550 board going to be ok?
Yep AMD isn't like Intel. You can overclock everything on almost any board.
I was thinking the MSI B550 Gaming Plus or the Asus B550-F
The board you have rn is likely fine for oc
It's a gaming plus so I suspect it's decent already
I'm not sure we are on the same page here @cyan ravine
An older Intel board?
I'm looking to get an AMD setup going
They're moving from old Intel to new ryzen
I asked about the ram to begin with because I know the newer ryzen like higher speed
Lol
Yeah that's why I suggested only 3600 kits
Rigt
3200 is technically fine, and 4000 is too high for infinity fabric to sync
3600 is the sweet spot
Unless you get a lucky bin
Probably grab one of those 16gb kits. Do you think 32gb is needed? All I do is game, maybe some light editing/streaming in the future
Not the 5800X, 3800 is usually the limit
You're thinking of the G chips maybe
4000 synced is really hard to do without whea errors
I start getting errors at 3866
It'll run as high as 4000 synced but will have background errors
Any higher is no boot
For editing/streaming in future 32 helps
Could maybe keep the vengememes for that though, or sell them
No point in keeping the sticks if I'm essentially getting a new system. I'd try to sell the 9700-f, mobo, ram on FB or something
Thanks for the help. Wanna take advantage of the sale on the 5800x
There is also hardwareswap on reddit.
It's a good price right now but still worth looking at 12600k/B660 combo, unless you want to do CPU overclock then you'd need the more expensive Z690
Yeah, I don't feel comfortable shipping mobo/cpus
I don't mess around with OCing. Heard there have been issues with the newer intel cpus with older games? Because of the different way they handle cores?
Those issues are mostly fixed
The only issue I know of right now is a single specific anti cheat software
But how much more would that intel setup be? I don't have any issues/problems with Intel, just know they are generally more spendy and know my 9700-f is starting to drag
Intel 12th gen has generally been better price/performance, I'll do a quick comparison hang on
Intel's actually better value atm
Oh you'll probably want a new cooler too while you're at it
What cooler they got?
Both the 5800X and 12600k can get toasty
Something from a prebuilt on a 9700f
Bought?
Cos ak620 is cheaper and slightly better
I purchased a cryorig cooler for the 9700f
Can you return it?
Not bought yet
Oh then don't
AK620 is stonks
You getting a whole new pc?
Basically. Was looking at a 5800x
What's your budget?
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
I would not put 12600k on the b660 prime personally
I'm not doing anything fancy. Just gaming
Yeah true https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mbWRv3
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K
Yeah but what's your budget if you're building a whole new pc or are you reusing some parts?
Bazooka is 130 but yeah
I have a 3080, PX-850, Define R7 I'm bringing with
Pro A is worth $5 more imo
SeaSonic
Bazookas better tho
Oh so probably focus based
Yeah
That's a good one I think
Just get a tomahawk
PX platinum is the A tier one yeah
Define 7?
But there's others lower
@fossil cedar I was going to upgrade my 9700f system with a 5800x and then @potent portal brought up the 12600k
Define R7, case
Yeah ik I'm outta together a list
There is no define r7 only a define 7 that's why I'm asking
Also that case is an oven so i would return it if you can, if not sell it
Too late to return
I'd do this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rKYGbK
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Then I'd sell it
No market around me for that kind of stuff really
You will gain performance just by changing that case alone
If I'm going to stick with Intel I'll just keep the ram I have
There has to be, are you not in the US?
3200mhz?
Micron and nanya mixed vengememes pato
Then there is a market, r/hardwareswap on reddit people will drive to collect it
Oof
I would just buy new ram too then that doesn't sound stable
I bought a 16gb kit of corsair vengeance and then purchased another at a later date
Stable as long as I've been running it
I highly doubt it's actually stable tho
Memory will error the crap out before crashing
It could be stable tho
Which means you're loosing performance without realising it
At some crazy timings
Extreme anta77 is also fine never tried pcb destroyer
Well I think we have very different opinions on PC stuff. And that's cool. I've had no issues that I can tell and I can play games for 12 hours or however long and have no crashes/performance issues
But they're like 4 hour long tests with 32gb
^
And you won't notice it
If they were tuned maybe, probably more like 6-8 on loose auto
Eh really? Damm
It's fine to think like that. We're only suggesting a memory test to validate it really. Think of it as like a tick of approval
If you've had 0 issues, there's a good chance it'll continue that way
Conversely there also lies a chance it does crap out
It's only 3000 XMP tho so I err towards the side of it being ok personally but you never know with ram
I will probably end up getting new ram either way. Just need to decide between the 12600k or the 5800x
12600K is easily better
Both of them are very much good for long term but performance-wise the 12600K will have the edge, and also pcie gen 5 slots
Gives you a bit more gpu headroom in the future
For an upgrade
Is there an F version of that cpu? I don't intend to OC. Any point in going with an i7?
12700F
There's a 12600F but we never recommend it
It's a 12400F with a premium
12700F will demolish a 5800X in anything not games and be just as good or slightly better in games
There's a 12600KF but it's only $5 cheaper
I think he means non-K
12600k is still worth it even when not overclocking
Yes
It has the extra 4 cores
12600k is 279 with 15 bucks off
To answer the other part of your question, no there's really no point to getting the i7 for gamers
Looks like the better deal is with intel right now
