Are you in MERICA?
People bought that ridiculous astral gpu and been buying it for for 2k recently absolute idiots who tf pays 2 effing grand for a 16gb gpu
yes
😭
The 6080 might honestly have an increased msrp… cuz people have massively overpaid for the 5080 this generation like absolute suckers
Got so lucky that I somehow got a 5090 tuf for MSRP.
Time to start savings account for 70 series

why did you bent your pins
<@&525119001324683264>
I bought it with bent pins for extremely cheap with the plan to fix and resell
oh
Or maybe use myself idk
sounds fire
$130 for this thing so I could have some insane profit
Guys this is a pcie power input right
For a gpu 6 pin
Like this??
What
look at your manual to check
It’s a mining psu
It doesn't match the mobo
Oh
GET OUTTT
It doesn't
pizza
it's sometimes for extra pcie slot power but you can't be sure without checking manual
I wanna be 100% sure, this thing is half my pc worth alone
Alr let’s try it
8gb 4800mts and a celeron g6900
💀 💀
Bruh it doesn’t have an hdmi port
IT WORKSSSS
LET’S FKIN GOOOOOOOO

Idk if it’s the motherboard or my celeron but the igpu display out doesn’t work
So I tried my rx 580 and that didn’t work so I tried my rx 7600 and that worked thankfully
One fan for ur mom
He saw an opportunity and took it
lol
Yeah what that mean

it's not a real thing
actually?
they're trying to pretend they have something better than 80+ gold I guess?
but that would just be 80+ platinum or 80+ titanium
80 PLUS® is our certification program for internal power supply units (PSUs), offering up to seven levels of certification for increasing energy efficiency.
oh I guess 80 plus ruby exists now too
but yeah it's just a knockoff of this
if I were you I wouldn't trust that psu with anywhere near 2600w lol
Aight I'mma buy every one they've got
Why isn’t Ethernet nor WiFi working
missing drivers moment
bruh
time to go find the missing drivers on another device and use a usb to move them over
usually there will be ethernet drivers on there already but this isn't super super rare
then again
it's rare enough that I've never had to do it personally
on something like 120 pcs
but common enough that I've at least heard of it being a thing
You know what happens when there is a backseat driver in your car?
What happens is that there are too many drivers
And then your Personal Car crashes
Inb4 80 plus sapphire and 80 plus diamond and 80 plus pearl
where's 80 plus emerald smh
Real
damn no rgb ram anymore?
and cheaper mobo too
i would reserve the bundle jp

Not one on sale
Cheapest one I’ve seen so far is $1200
FE's being out of stock and inflated on the secondary market is pretty normal even when the aib models are selling at or below msrp. Has been for years.
hey anyone open to help me in #windows-ios

i dont like buying anything other than known brands
pmabbuign to get this
Every brand has pretty mediocre warranty/support. PNY isn't bad quality or anything though. They are one of the more competent ones imo, they make a lot of the pro cards for nvidia.
You know that's basically double the price of a 5070ti for +15% if you're lucky.
Wait that's not a 5080. That's a 4090?
yes
Kind of cheap for a 4090 if you actually want one. They still go over $2k used.
is that a bada thing
It's microcenter so it should be fine. I don't know why it would sit in stock open box at that price. I'd expect someone to have bought it immediately.
Even if they just wanted to resell.
they restock it almost biweekly
it goes out of stock after few days of visiting the site
and its usually 3-10 items
id buy it if microcenter wasnt 4 fricking hours away from me.
feel like im writing spaghetti code rn
Wait when did quok leave
rip
Lian Li has some of the highest build quality in the entire case market, they rival Silverstone. Not sure why you'd be harsh on them
I should do a case manufacturer tier list
Well i was harsh on em for their expensive entries which every pc builder seems to be obsessed with to the point of sacrificing their gpu budget legit used to see lian li o11 builds with a goddamn 4060
Lian li is def s tier
S tier is Lian Li, Phanteks, Silverstone
Assembling in lian li cases are a goddamn breeze
I'm gonna do this tier list
price
What tier is musetex...?
It's more about models than brands. Lian li is pretty consistently good though, even on their cheaper stuff.
S: Lian Li, Phanteks, Silverstone, InWin
A: Fractal Design, Antec, Corsair, Cooler Master, Hyte
B: Thermaltake, NZXT, Rosewill, MSI, Montech, be quiet!
C: Zalman, Asus, Gamdias
D: DIYPC, SAMA, PCCOOLER, GAMEMAX
F: Cases included with prebuilts, BGears
Musetex is too new to be included
verdict is out
Nah my goat SAMA is not D tier
new?
how new are they
in any case I can confidently say their build quality is GREAT
new enough that nobody on Newegg has left a review for a Musetex case yet
My im01 has great tolerances, but they also don't make it anymore iirc so maybe they cheap out now
i gotta leave a good review on my TW8-mesh
but they have been around
I bought mine like 2-3 years ago
for what it's worth, Antec was S tier in the early 2000s
they haven't been in a long time
they no longer sell my case mannn
Scum of the earth https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamFrame/s/fiX79qwadZ

Very good price for an incredible game
Good stuff

Why
because
Sad
they just want people to buy it twice
thats likely going to work
Both options are incredibly sad
oh nooo we have to cut costs because of a problem we helped create

i should scalp too
I wonder if the guy looking to get into pc yesterday joined the buildapcsales discord or not
There were a few good decent drops for prebuilts today
The skytech one with the 9070xt for $1400 looked the best, only 16gb though.

Dude is trying his best to find faults in his PC or worry about stuff
Facebook, Instagram and TikTok aren't fun if you are just doing text based comments without posting content yourself so imo out of all those options X makes the most sense since it's more text based
I wanna buy this bundle but i feel like they've cut corners with the motherboard to match the price 😭
That is a normal motherboard
it seems to be normal to me for a "lower end" x870e board
which is honestly pretty overkill anyway (assuming it's a gaming rig)
Good to see them upgrade the 3600 to 5600 for lower end cpu testing
Nintendo is chopped
Whoa
This looks really good
I thought it said Ac odyssey for a second

I like how there's so many reports "Nintendo could be doing a remake of OOT" or "Nintendo might be ready to reveal the next Starfox game"
What Nintendo might also be doing: Nothing. They just released a movie and according to the way Miyamoto was talking, they're content riding that wave for now.
oh boy I cant wait for all the AI generated Unity games
Inb4 Nintendo patents cooking food
they think Eternal Darkness was the first game with looking tech lol
Oh that patent expired 2 years ago
the fact they patented that tho
It was filed back in 2002

Same with pulse!
7600xt is aging better than it's nvidia counterpart 4060
really?
Except that every other gpu aged worse I think
7800 xt vs 4060 ti, 7900 xt vs 4070 Super/ti, 7900 XTX vs 4080
Xtx aged the worst lol
not really lol, it's still stronger than 4080 and was like 40% less expensive
It is harder to justify a higher end gpu with crap feature set
XTX was competing with 4070 ti/ti Super on price for most of the product generation. anybody who got an XTX over either of those cards is laughing to the bank
if you paid the $1000 MSRP they barely ever sold for, then sure that was an awful deal
likewise with 7900 xt, they were always available for $700-750, right in line with 4070 ti
it took 4070 Super to drop 4070 ti performance to a kinda okay price tier relative to Radeon offerings, but by that summer the 7900 XTX was $600 regularly, let alone the XT non X
really the only time not to buy a radeon was the very end of the generation, about 6 months after 4070 ti Super released. because at that point you could get basically a 4080 for $800, and RDNA 3 had finally stabilized back at MSRP due to lower volume of production
Radeon definitely lost that generation, but not for lack of value. they just marketed the cards badly with horrible names and awful MSRPs that they never honoured
And they will keep losing if value is the only thing they can offer
clearly not, RDNA 4 is doing great. they're getting closer to feature set parity, but not much closer relative to RDNA3 vs Ada Lovelace. RDNA 4 is simply radically better value
lol
RDNA 5 is the make or break imo. it's a Mark Cerny architecture so i'm betting it'll be a homerun on performance and die efficiency. the only question is whether they actually break through with competive software or if they squander their hardware design again
compelling argument
6 of the top 10 GPU sellers on Newegg right now are radeons. one is a $3800 5090 and one is a B70, neither of which are super relevant to GamerZ™️
that's 6/8 radeon
Hhmm
Yeah for like a few months at the end of 2024, otherwise the 4080 super and the xtx were around the same price for a while
The 4080 super would have been a much better buy than an xtx
I dont think i ever saw an xtx for 600
not in the US, it was always $800 or less. only exception was launch day and like 6 months prior to RDNA 5/Blackwell
there was an entire summer that it was available for $650
Lowest xtx i saw was at microcenter for 860
then you clearly weren't looking very hard lol
No i genuinely think ur misremembering things
If the xtx was really selling for 600
Then it would have sold an insane amt of numbers
Unless u mean the 7900xt
neither Ada or RDNA 3 sold well, 7900 XTX was pretty regularly below $800, the lowest i saw was $600 for a few days. it was $650-700 in and out of stock for an entire summer a few years ago
i nearly bought one but opted to wait for 4070 ti super (bad choice)
7900 xt was also $600 very very regularly without searching very hard
XTX is a pretty good card and has enough power to brute force good performance on hard to run titles, but its feature set hits a brick wall. Atleast it can run FSR 4 (INT8 version) rather well
Were they really going for 600?
Thats like what the 7900gre used to cost
im pretty sure they did at a point where there's low demand
like you might see em listed at that price in FBM
I hate working with old plugins
time to wait another 8 hours for render 🗿
because that's a ways after 4070 ti Super came out, and i was deciding between $700 OB ti Super and a $700 7900 XTX because i wanted a particular model and had missed the best sales
the file is pretty simple and should only take 10 seconds to render but it can't see any of the objects it looks like
doesn't help that there are no logs
its crazy how expensive the XTX is now
ended up going with the GeForce for features and utterly loathed the card. now i have a 7900 XT and it performs like a 5080 because i feed it 700w
I was disappointed with fsr 4 game support on 9070xt so I had to pivot mid gen to 5090
ah I got it. had to enable scripts to access files
FSR4 support is bad
radeon needs to do better. at the same time optiscaler takes like 2 minutes to set up
They made the purchase more worth it since then with stuff like 6x mfg
Can't really take full advantage of it since my monitor is only 360hz
FG is already quite questionable... MFG is a bad solution in search of a nonexistant problem
if you like it then that's great, but you're definitely the outlier
More fluidity and better motion clarity
better motion clarity
definitely more fluidity... but i'd argue that 3x Dall E's for every frame is not conducive to clarity of any kind
let alone higher ratios
I rather take the experience on the right
Still no reflex 2
For more detail oriented games I always opt for no upscaling or frame gen rather than the high frame rates. but yes I am often running at ~40fps with many stutters
I upscale for resolution, but framegen always causes input lag for me
Hope you mean dlaa by native otherwise you are doing yourself a disservice
if I was running 4k or above I would probably use upscaling just cuz I ain't paying crazy money for a gpu but that's about it
Above 4k. Imagine
nah I always run native. and ye im planning for my next monitor to be around 5k 120hz ish
dlaa means native rendering
My next monitor most likely will be a 4k360hz oled but something like that is yet to be released
"an ai-based spatial anti-aliasing technology to enhance image quality at native resolution" that ain't true native
i am just very anti ai, I haven't found any of these features to look anywhere near at good as if you just went without them
If you think DLAA looks worse than (most) TAA implementations you might wanna get your eyes checked /hj
Should TAA be considered native is another discussion I suppose
idk it's also worth noting I just don't play many if any games at all that have such features
Lot of cutbacks are done to make realtime rendering possible at all so yeah many argue nothing is native at all
I'm fine with certain games (notably single player story) chasing extreme realism, but I'm sick of multiplayer shooters sacrificing clarity and performance for flashy visuals
Take me back to when games were more stylized. Older COD, BF, Titanfall
Heck even BF1 looks great and doesn't require TAA iirc
That is very good to know
Although lower userbase is a bigger reason series x gets shoddier ports than the ps5 not the series s
Play Mouse PI for hire if you want to play something heavily stylized
Yeah I've thought about it but I'm not a huge boomer shooter guy
Overwatch as well
2016ish had a really solid balance of crisp graphics and good performance

McDonald's hash browns are so tasty and so tiny and cost more than if I made a beef patty of the same size like 5 times over
How tf they pricing minced potatoes for more than beef mince
Washed
Consumer acquiescence
More people are willing to pay $4 for a hashbrown patty than those not willing, so they maintain profitability
The worst part is my college also sells hash browns and only prices then a single dollar less than McDonald's
I wouldn’t

Congratulations. Most people just roll up, place their order and don't bother looking at the price
I wouldn't say they taste a dollar worse
Same with taco bell
But it doesn't taste several dollars worth per piece nor is filling enough nor nutritious enough to justify the extra cost
Most people roll up, place their order for an item a la carte, don't look at the price and continue on with their day

uh, what else would you need PCIe 5.0 for? lol
Surely nobody is using that for a Wifi card
Newegg has already shipped out my R9700, nice
what?
I ordered an XFX Radeon AI PRO R9700
very nice
the neat part is that it can do gaming quite well too, with full support for everything the 9070 XT has
Om Linux you get ECC and ROCm, and on Windows you get things like FSR 4.
Should be less
so like a 9070?
"toronto looks like the uk except different"
Tick or untick
I just realized that GDDR generations have massively slowed down. In 2009 we had GDDR5.
Think about that for a second.
Anyone know
dont touch it, leave as is
Someone recommend disabling it
I suspect it will reset your BIOS settings if you do that
I don’t have any custom settings tho tbh
ddr6 announced though
It seems we are not too far from the next-generation Double Data Rate 6 (DDR6) memory for desktops and servers, as memory manufacturers are working with JEDEC to establish a new standard. According to South Korean media outlet The Elec, major memory makers such as SK hynix, Samsung, and Micron have ...
its gonna be like ddr5
expect high end speeds as the minimum
so like minimum 9200mhz ram
like how ddr5's minimum was ddr4's maximum
thats normal for ram launch
it will be unaffordable
but this time ai has already come for ram, ddr5 didnt have that problem at start thats why it tapered
so ddr6 will already be subjected to the ai tax
chief the ai bubble is months from collapsing and by the time ddr6 is ready for production it will fall to normal prices
we can only hope
2028-2030
not to mention once again the price of ram is because of a lack of supply
if you decide to rob a data center you're not gonna find terabytes of ddr5 laying around
so providing they actually make the stuff its gonna be normal expensive
there go my plans for friday
how did the SNES handle z-buffer better than PS1?

PNY has some of the best models, of most gpus. They are a very old brand that has been reviewed well for the last 30 years.
PNY Technologies, Inc., doing business as PNY, is an American manufacturer of flash memory cards, USB flash drives, solid state drives, memory upgrade modules, portable battery chargers, computer locks, cables, chargers, adapters, and consumer and professional graphics cards. The company is headquartered in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey.
PNY...
Scam
is PNY like the chewapest gpu out there beside the fe
The cheapest is whatever is on sale that is cheaper than everything else
You just gotta wait and see
it pisses me off seeing 4090 asus tuf sitting on inventory stock for 1.7k and its not carried at microcenter near me
generally the cheaper models reside within these, I like to call them tier 1:
asus prime
gigabyte windforce
gunnir index
pny verto
asrock challenger
msi ventus
xfx swft
powercolor fighter
sparkle roc
sapphire pulse
im legit making a google slide for gpu model tiers
ts got me motivated
asus tuf is like the best selling on Amazon
because its between entry level and high end
should I get
You should
What is the cheapest model of the gpu youre trying to get
like 5080
if I get a new gpu might as well sell my fans and buy Arctic fans lmao
$420 on fans
AliExpress is significantly better than temu. They aren't very vigilant about keeping scam listings off the platform but they do care about their reputation and won't leave you holding the bag if you fall for one.
It'll likely get cancelled and refunded pretty promptly.
Nice character rendering
Project helix apparently has a 100 tops npu so if they are stopping development for copilot on consoles then what are they going to use that silicon for
aliexpress does heavily favor the customer when things go south
refunds are easily approved
temu? you're at the mercy of the guy selling the thing you've ordered
Welp i have officially completely removed windows from my system
Looks like ali express doesn't have a ps5 pro
Is it normal my aio is constantly making sounds like say liquid dripping but like more than just drips from the near of the aio where radiator is
It is tho right
prob got some air in the system, you can usually deal with it by tilting it in a way where the air could get to another point in the loop, just do NOT let the pump be the highest point, air in the pump is bad
Prices and item availability are also a lot better
But sometimes temu does really crazy crap
I bought a mouse at a pretty good price and they gave me 100% back of it as credit too
Damaged PCIE slot... still almost $1000... cringe
They said better not perfect
Conversation devolved into ali express vs temu but it started with this guy going on a hate rampage for pny with no valid reason
No reason whatsoever actually literally
Let alone valid
Idk what is the problem because he got stuff like 7600xt and ps5 pro bang on
PSSR sounded so weird I didn't believe it at first but it actually ended up being real
Would you trust buying a PS5 from AliExpress?
I definitely wouldn't lol
i mean it still works
its just cosmetic damage you cant even see
AIBs just now realizing that 16Gb A die and 24Gb M die exist is linds funny lol
How long is the base model B70 anyways
I can fit it for sure but I'm curious
Should've went with A4 H20
oh well
WTH chat Amazon sent me a damaged board where the I/O shield is bent on top! Should I refund it???
I'm so pissed! 😡😡😡
Nah. That’s not significant damage, and won’t really impact anything at all.
I like my build to look nice and not look damaged
You can literally see the gap on the back I/O when I put the board in
Bend it back. You will barely notice it.
Lol I did try to bend it back it still looks ugly as hell
bros lucky, someone shipped with USPS and they stuck forklift through the side of my home theater receiever
and still delivered it to me like nothing happened
The top
It'll buff out frfr
yep
You can probably bend it back, but it's also worth reaching out and asking for a partial refund
@grand kernel new driver finally just dropped
Nah, I requested a full return and refund
You do you

now thats an advancement
finally

I got a Radeon with that connector coming

given the type of card it is though I am really not worried about it
wait, you bought THAT???
yes
aint it super $$$$
ai work ?
Are you paying 5070ti,5080 money for that thing ?
i thought consumer RDNA 4 cards also have error checking no?

It's a superior gpu 😉
The card usually is too weak to benefit from more then 16
thats a lie
for blender 5080 is 3 times faster 💀
in like 5 years, them games are gonna consume 12gb+ at 1080p
probably already happening
These two will take basically any amount of VRAM you can give them if you want to have 1 million+ units
16 GB VRAM usage at 240p
I am all for more VRAM though just for the 8gb skus
dlss to 1080p
4060M has to do that sometimes, which is sad ngl
like Squenix is doing with FF7 Rebirth on Switch 2
or they could just make a proper port, but that means less $ for investors ig
like for example, scaling down the texture resolution. lower poly models etc
unless they need to do that on top of the DLSS in which case 💀
Preset K on quality is the maximum I can deal with for 1080p
Anything lower and I'll have to use dlss 4.5 (preset M)
Star wars outlaws probably still the best looking title on switch 2 haven't looked into it in a while
Since nothing about the device or exclusive games interest me
I only cared about the device since it apparently has more ram so it can sometimes provide a better experience than the series s
Which is freaking hilarious
No never played any switch games
I have a ps5 pro for GTA 6 and a PC for every other game officially released on it
OOOOOOOOOOOOOF
Every other game about to feel low budget after playing it

Ac Odyssey is my favorite game you think I care about metacritic scores
The industry has a bias or fear of Nintendo which is very obvious
where fsr features
you prefer odyssey more than ac2 ?
Never played anything before syndicate
i witnessed my brother suffer in ac2's confusing parkour mechanics
People are complaining 8GB cards are going out of style, which is so funny to me
Like, do people not understand how long we've had 8GB GPUs
and how much VRAM increased before that
that's like half of my life lmao
it's just like intel and their 4 core cpus
isn't vram somewhat cheap to make tho?
if you built a high end PC in 2010 you probably had a GTX570 that had 1.25GB
in 2015 you would have built with a gtx970 with 4GB
i'm just annoyed by how long 8gb is still the middle choice to be installed into mainstream gpus
I blame consoles
can't even be bothered with 10gb or 12gb minimum
the first 8gb consumer card was in 2013
game developers want their games to be multi platform
8gb r9 290x
How are you blaming consoles since they have more then enough memory now
I remember when the RX480 8GB launched. in 2016.
512-bit bus lol
and that was $229
consoles run on unified memory
8GB was on midrange cards in 2016
hot take
I mean it's the companies' fault that 8gb is still relevant, not the consumers
but to be honest, gddr7 at 128-bit offers good enough bandwidth for midrange gpus
90% of the reason why the 1080Ti was the GOAT for such a long time was because the midrange cards still had 8GB so 1080Ti was still ahead of that
i just wish they'd stop with 8 gigs and go further
for way longer than 1080Ti should have been relevant
can't blame consumers for buying the cards that are avaliable to them
It was also a brief period games were stagnant
with the level of performance i've been gaming with, the 1080ti is still relevant to me
would i get it now? nah
but that kinda perf to me is indeed still viable
I'm awaiting delivery on an rx6800 non XT
this will be my primary card
this was a 16GB GPU that launched in 2020 and cost $579
if only nvidia made a 3060ti 12gb back then
i think the neutered bus width wouldn't matter too much
I wish they’d stop with 12 gigs of ram on 70 class cards
Hope 5070 doesn't age like 3070 did
12 gigs is okay with me
honestly i find 12 to be a decent spot that would last for a while
16 would be nicer but the current games can run 12gb just fine
At least for now 5070 does a good job of targeting 4k output
minimum vram req
12gb - 60 class
16gb - 70 class
20gb - 80 class
24gb+ - 90 class
should've been like this atleast
90 class should be 32 minimum given how egregiously priced they are
4k+ for a 5090
🤢
Strongly agree with the rest tho
32 is just overkill for a gaming card though
48gb 6090 with at least 80% uplift over 5090
Hopefully that wish comes true
Doubt most people buy 5090s for gaming tho
i mean it's nice and all, but the excess vram will just end up being wasted
It is like 80% better than 5080 iirc so I think a good chunk of people do
for 4k native, 24 still has a lot of room in there too
minimum vram req for "super" based cards (+4gb)
16gb - 60 class
20gb - 70 class
24gb - 80 class
50% according to tpu
i have not seen a game consume over 24gb
me watching my game crash cause out of vram with 16gb
it's interesting you bring this up because the 2060 12GB was basically what you're describing
minecrack with 98746 mods
I experienced so many stutters on ff7 rebirth on my 4070super
12GB edition of 2060 used the 2060 Super core on a 192-bit bus to achieve 12GB
And that was back when i was still playing at 2560x1440p
actually, lemme load up assetto corsa with over 50 cars brb
the 2060 12 gigs has gotta be rare as hell
it's pretty rare, yeah
Thing was pushing over 90 frames but couldn’t handle high textures
but I owned an EVGA model
cyberpunk is straight up crashing on my 9070xt due to running out of vram
if I have wallpaper engine open
lol
if I close it it's fine
there was a time where a 3060ti KO i think was running blender so much faster than other 3060ti's
Cyberpunk was oddly very smooth on my 4070super
cause it used the 2080's die iirc
Much smoother than my older 7900xt despite lower frames
you're thinking of 2060 KO
that wasn't a thing for 30 series
ah right
2060 KO
yes
it was the only 2060 model I know of that took an 8pin PCIe
and it was due to the larger die
idk why running wallpaper engine on my igpu still uses so much vram 🙁
dwm sucks I guess
@olive plaza why can’t you give me a 5090
it's on a monitor that's physically connected to the igpu
and set to render on the igpu
I don't have one
still uses like 500mb of my dgpu vram
I need to go crazy with texture pack mods to have any chance of using over 24gb VRAM in games
@elfin mural here's an interesting one. TU106 is the chip NVIDIA used for RTX2070 and 2060 Super. It's the same chip which also made the RTX2060 12GB... it wound up cut down, from its 2060 12GB iteration, in half. And they made a GTX1650 out of the leftovers.
How often do people actually look at their wallpaper
sounds interesting but also expected
Mine’s black
also talking about wallpapers, im running the dark windows 11 default wallpaper
i'm not bothered enough to change it
Tried wallpaper engine but shit kept going haywire
there is an EVGA GTX1650 KO Ultra GDDR6, Asus Dual GTX1650 OC GDDR6, and Gigabyte GTX1650 OC GDDR6 Rev2.0
these are all TU106
well I'm using it on a monitor whose only purpose is to be a decorative panel lol
Theoretically their rendering performance would be a lot higher than a normal 1650
it's the monitor on my pc
everyday
i want to change my wallpaper, but i want it to be personal
oh, with 50 cars its just 12gb
that means getting art
I boot my PC and immediately run a game or browser so wallpaper is barely seen for a few seconds
and i'm not made of money, so default it is
even my phone runs the default wallpaper since the day i bought it new
Some would argue this is where AI comes in
interesting cpu choice
old gn had the intel hedt stuff for benches
@elfin mural
https://www.ebay.com/itm/168353248185
cut-down 2070 core on a 1650. lmao
i would rather gather my coins and put food on an artist's table imo
8086k wasn't hedt
oh it wasn't?
it was just a binned 8700k
weird
8086K was 1151v2
ah
that hit 5ghz at stock
5GHz all core
i honestly barely remember "older" tech anymore
all six cores lmao
and then intel was like "btw here's 9th gen and you get more cores now"
I mean
Same it's a blank before zen 2
I remember seeing benchmarks of 8700k beating 9700k in a lot of things back then
higher clocks + hyperthreading
9700K being 8C8T
it's the same architecture so anything that scaled well with HT basically
8700K being 6C12T
I remember Zen 2 being revolutionary and how Nvidia was congratulating Amd for releasing it
It really was
meh, 8700k was still relevant for a long time
zen 1 saved amd, zen 2 lifted amd up to unprecedented high
and zen 3 amped that up further
High key you can still run Zen2 right now
and there aren't any games that don't work
definitely relevant until at least alder lake
I mean I'm pretty sure all games still run on haswell
you might be CPU limited at times but you'll never be completely disappointed rn with a 3700X
but the true thing that kept amd going until zen was conceived are consoles
haswell has avx2
i still have that haswell 850m ddr3 laptop around
it's my brother's ever since i got on the tuf a15
lmao
the original hard drive is failing
but the wd green drive i added in 2019 still runs fine
an ssd ofc
I think the only things that might not launch on Haswell are games that require TPM for online gaming
some boards do let you add hardware tpm
4790K + 3080 isn't completely bogus
good luck finding modules though
I know plenty of people who ran 7700K and upgraded to a 3080 at its launch
fastest 8 core 8 thread cpu?
9850X3D with SMT disabled
👀
I got 7% cpu bottleneck with i7-4790K + 3080 in a game from 2022
amd at one point in time released a consumer dual socket platform
it was called quad fx, or the quadfather
I just watched a video about that
and that 4790K was kind of a dud for OC
guess this is it
might've been close to 0% bottleneck if I could get it to 5ghz
that was 7% bottleneck at 4.5ghz
now you got me super curious how far I could push 4790K if I looked for a late production sample
