Prices went up a lot during 2020, 2021, and some of 2022 because of shortages due to obvious reasons. Mining also became profitable which added to the problem.
Since then, prices have evened out quite a bit. However inflation is still very high, so overall prices have been going up anyway.
Prices on hardware thats been around for a while has gone down, but in the last year or so it's bounced back up. GTX 1660 cards as an example were $60-70 used last year, and now regularly sell for over $100.
Additionally the newest RTX cards have the highest price points historically while not really gaining a proportionate amount of performance
