pepe with tinfoil hat calling AI bad and the doom of civilization
or just hating it ig
It is pretty sus tho
Yeah if you call discord and confirm it's you they wouldn't care
Have had it happen before
Besides, most hackers wouldn't want you to know they're entering an account
Pretty sloppy hacker
π
Yeah don't trust it
Tell them to call and leave it at that
I just told them to contact discord support and blocked them
Pretty sure it's a scam
it absolutely is
Hey guys never put in a second hard drive could anyone help me out with some simpleton questions
Hello @hoary delta! It appears that you're asking for help. Please ask again in the appropriate category so you can get faster help from people specializing in that field. Your question may not be answered here.
they get you in touch with the "staff member" and then they send you dodgy links n stuff
These scams nowadays are changing and it's kinda scary how legit some of them look
sry Iβll go to help chat
Reported the account too
AHAHAHAHAHHAHA
I should've dragged them out longer
Should I troll him?
im dragigng it out

i got nothing better to do
im steaing ur number
Did you message the "mod"?
yuh
ima see wheer this goes
o god @hoary zodiac
With your user capped out
Ah
ur going to sell
yeah ok
I'm gonna annoy him with cryptic messages
John Smith
should i risk my burner discord acc
Send this
What's funny is that one google search reveals that it's an obvious scam
I wouldnt even have gone that far into the scam
and they sent me a sketchy link
I would have started sending them memes constantly until they block me
Their time deserve to be wasted
anazlying time
You know what
Yes
I'm gonna unblock and do it again
VirusTotal
nah check the markup
maybe its a real link to throw you off for the next link
duh
im not clickin it
my virtual machine will touch it :))
o lord
you should also scan the sus link you get on virustotal
nvm im hella tired
you should just say you cant talk right now
your mic broken
and speakers are broken

how do i make my screenshare run at 2fps

ok is it time for spam
im tired of them
@deep parcel no Gpu upgrade to this gen?
dunno
L way to end it
they stopped responding to me lmao
these scams are getting creative
should meme spammed
FFR
bro
they went thorugh all this efford
I am in the same dilemma
AND verified!?
FR
ethan
theyd need a real ID
discords official accounts you can't even message
lmao he's given up
the second you get a message like that from anyone that should immediately be a huge red flag to anyone
@dusk knot but yeah no real reason to upgrade tbh... Maybe my cpu but like gpu I dont really see much of a reason because I can run all my games just fine... if I start to not be able to play my games well then ill upgrade.... I need to save up more monies
now we got evidance on them tnaks to me

mf gave me the evidance
now discord got all the chat logs
because maya needs your help
maya fortnite needs your credit card number
their should be a discord bot with a database full of scammesr and alerts mods when said account joins your server
and people will keep catching those accounts
if theirs a consistant update, like daily updates on the scmamer list it would be a useful tool
build a large server up and boom, even if it reduces scams by a little, its better than 0
discord is too crappy to do something actually useful
discord has gotten decent at stopping raids. it's not so much they alert the mods but the mods alert discord of raids and bots coming in to either limit them coming in or investigate it
instead they have to move a reply button 1px to the right on the mobile app
doesnt stop me and my boys from joining a random server and spamming
ahh the memories
you shouldn't anyways
well I don't think that is their concern
that's a server side issue
chat my right eye has been itcy for weeks
discord moderators takes care of the mess after it happens
ima put carmadx in it
and I mean platform moderators
not the stereotypical basement dwelling "kitten" lovers
sounds good.....i think im good to...
usually upgrading every 2 generations is good but
need some help in #storage-devices if anyone is free
looking like this generation is a skip
no comment
saving for da 5080
recent developemts in my life wil make it a realsitic goal
if only it was 24gb vram card
Hey everyone. I am currently in a predicament. A supplier I know can offer me an open box of any of the following models for 750 CAD (pls do conversions to USD if needed)
LG 45GR95QE-B
Practically any 4K 240hz OLED. Currently LG, ASUS UCDM, Alienware, MSI. What do I go for? What is the best bang for my bucks?
Mainly JP
not sure who's the monitor experts here
monitors
maybe try #old-monitors-and-tv
i should buy a oled one day
The OLEDS I saw at CC were so much deeper then the Neo g8
For sure I will
I wouldn't make a decision just yet
I canβt afford any 4K 27 inch it would be beyond my budget.
there's some people here that's really knowledgable with monitors
Yeah for sure
they could give you some really good advice
the 6090 is going to be soo powerful that at 1440p 240fps on max settings, I'll only be utilization 30 percent of the GPU with the help of 10x MFG with DLSS 5.0
not sure if they're online atm
π
lol
You skipping 5090
i wanna do 1440p 240hz
What gpu do u even have
I just bought lossless scaling last night, and its been blowing my mind at the performance uplift its given me, as well as how much power I can save
Now that I have lossless scaling, I can limit my games to lower frame rates, save a bunch of energy, and upscale to my panels full refresh rate, giving me smoother gaming while using less power. It rocks!
congrats
I think lots of people should look at buying it. Its super cool lol
and it can run on any program, and it works so good on so many things
Meowdy
I'd love to hear what you have to say
Blackwell sucks for AI, Digit is gonna be insane tho
wait really?
I am currently already planning on buying one
I mean... It is for some things
however
the stuff I do will still be basically useless on the 5090
so more on the gaming side
the 5090???
not even the 5080
is it worse than the 4090?
32GB VRAM is not good
in terms of what you do
oh no, its a lot better, but the 4090 has been severely limited as well
ah it comes back to vram π
Its always VRAM with AI
Ok, for small things, it will be fantastic
damn I'd think you'd have a more positive response to blackwell
Image generation? Its gonna fly
Small text models? Its gonna be insane
ah
But I am trying to get into bigger text generation models, and the 5090 is gonna be severely useless for anything bigger than normal models
but for running anything on a larger scale it still sucks
so jensen went on 2 hours yapping for AI and it's not even that great
at least not enough to justify $2000
Crazy
lets say, you wanna run a 20B param model... at full FP16, thats 40GB
so too big for the 5090
If you wanna run 32B, its closer to 70GB, which is WAY too big, so you have to start lowering their accuracy much lower, which makes them worse
And 32B is still considered small
damn nobody has anything good to say about blackwell π
To really make you guys shiver, the new Deepseek V3 that beats chat GPT4o and all the other closed models... it needs 1.3TB of VRAM to run
it's even more peculiar how the marketing was so focused on AI then
Soooo yeah, 32GB is not really much lmao
HOLY
you need an entire datacenter
My friend owns one, and he runs it lmao
he has 6, soon to be 8 A100 80GB's, and 6 A6000's
that just sounds like throwing money away
oh yeah, for sure. 100GB HBM2 is low now
unrealistic figure but still
more realistic for an ai dedicated gpu than what nvidia is putting out
ohhh
32 gb vram for 8k gaming
Friend has a 25 million dollar net worth and is working on a potential $75M contract with the US gov for a custom model
He has plenty of money to throw around lmao
yup, throwing money
Can he make ai TikTok
ah yes the government budget
he bought all of his GPU's off of just the interest of his money in the bank lmfao
He said he gets about $30k a month in interest across all of his bonds and such
I might stay an extra year at uni for a masters then
He got lucky, it was all luck for him
I mean I'm more looking at the computer engineering-robotics side but they have ai as well
so
If it means THAT much money I might seriously look into it
His friend made a tech start up in the late 2010's, he was the CTO, company grew massive, sold for over $600M, and he had 5% stock in it, so he became a multi millionaire over night
ah
If I made that Iβm having 3 oled displays c dual 5090 custom loop pc 9950x3d.
average silicon valley startup
My unlimited budget homelab would be insane
So left me clarify, for MOST local AI use for general people, blackwell is gonna be insanely fast
But for the more serious stuff, they are still pretty worthless
Yet people are still going to buy it kek
still tho if you need a 4090
5090*
or even 5070
Yeah, the 5090 is the only card that will be able to do anything more than the 3090 or 4090
really?
the 3090 or 4090 would be a better buy if you just want AI
yeah, again, its all about VRAM
ah
the more VRAM, the more you can do
even for general ai usage?
did someone say
Mac mini
Ai?
simple models?
anything the 4090 can do, the 3090 can do identically as well, its just a bit slower
well, it depends on how big said model is
better perf/$
lets say the model uses 12GB and you're comparing a 16GB blackwell card vs a 16GB ada card, the blackwell one is gonna run circles around it all day every day
this looks like a "launch generation thing tbh"
but if you need a model that 24GB, the 3090 and 4090 would be way better values
where next gen is where we're going to see real performance
but besides, people who really want serious AI are gonna buy digits, like me
Ai
I am gonna be saving up for one
64gb unified
So basically the AI stuff is just nice for people who already have nvidia gpus
these things are abysmally bad value
for $4000 I have to agree
What about the m4 mini, I swear some dude get like 4 of them in a cluster
I mean, it will still allow everybody to have way faster access to local models that are small (where a lot of progress is being made), so it will bush things further
the champion of serious AI value will be the digit
I am looking to get a digit, maybe 2 depending on how good they are
before later gens start become more accessible
what were even the specs of the digit
20 ARM cores, 10 fast, 10 low power, a huge 1PFLOP Fp4 core, 128GB unified LPDDR5X
and a 4TB SSD
and its smaller than a mac mini
how much was this costing
tbh I wasn't paying much attention to this. is it just supposed to be a purpose built desktop running mostly standard software or is this more a developer thing
and you can get 2 and cluster them
its made for anybody more serious about AI
it runs its own custom Linux, and it has support for all the big Ai frameworks and tools
yeah, but it has 128GB memory instead of 32
DAMN
so more of a friendly dev thing
the moment you get past 32GB of memory need, absolutely
below 32GB, no chance
but I need BIG memory
when I first saw it my initial thought was local home ai
seems like a more practical option than a 5090 for ai specialisation
Thats what I am buying one for
I found a model that is made for medical diagnosis, and my mother and I have a lot of medical issues that have been overlooked by incompetend doctors. After a few hours with the small version of this model, my mom and I were able to be properly diagnosed and start treatement, and are already feeling cosniderably better
The digit can run the 10X bigger way smarter version no problem
I don't think these things would be terribly useful to me for that price but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to experiment a little
I use local AI all day every day, so having a super small, power efficient, insanely large capacity accelerator for AI is like insane for me
HuaTuo, the medical model I am using has massively helped my mom just in the few days I have had it, and its the smaller far less capable version of the big one
I would also be able to run models like Mistral Large, which can rival ChatGPT4o locally
I am working on a huge project undertaking
Effectively, I downloaded all of English Wikipedia, and I want to use a tool to segment it into huge chunks of similar knowledge, then use an AI agent that can run low power to comb through all of it and answer very important questions in a catastrophe situation
Its called RAG, and its really cool what you can do with it
I already had a very small scale running that could run on a laptop, if you provided it with the wikipedia pages to vectorize
Sounds like something straight out of science fiction
It kinda is, its insane
that amount of automation would be really awesome
Yup, and with a digit, man I could do it
the best thing about the digit is how small and insanely low power it is
ohh
not just that, but in case of an emergency, it can be powered and used with minimal energy
a medium sized battery bank with maybe 200 watts of solar power, and you can use it anywhere any time with all of the knowledge stored locally on it
all 6 million plus paged of wikipedia with the sounds/videos/images is justa bout 110GB which is not much at all for that level of knowledge
HuaTuo, that medical model I use can run on a lot of local desktop GPU's with 8+ GB VRAM, or even less if you are willing for it to be slower
the whole of wikipedia?
really?
that's tiny
all of humanity's knowledge can be stored into one usb drive
that'd be good to keep in a bunker
The size of the English Wikipedia can be measured in terms of the number of articles, number of words, number of pages, and the size of the database, among other ways. As of 15 January 2025, there are 6,940,111 articles in the English Wikipedia containing over 4.7 billion words (giving a mean of about 690 words per article). The total number of ...
but like... I spent 2 hours talking with it about my moms test results, what shes been through, how things have been affecting her. It asked me extra questions, broke down the diagnosis the doctors gave her, and then told me why its wrong. I looked into it and fact checked it, and it was 100% right without fault
Turns out, they thought she had Shoulder bursitis, which requires you to not move your shoulder. In reality, she has frozen shoulder, which gets worse when you don't move, so she was making it worse with the treatment they prescribed based off a false diagnosis
It recommended a bunch of treatements and she started doing them, and started feeling considerably better in a few days
that would be amazing in a medical fields
not as an alternative
but to help doctors diagnose
humans aren't perfect and neither are ai
but combined this could have some real impact
I expanded it to her neck injury, and after 2 hours with that one, it figured that out too. She had been dealing with it for almost 2 years. Low and behold, its Myofascial pain syndrome, which she had a decade before and knew how to treat, and frozen shoulder is a huge side effect of it
It gave her a bunch of treatment info about it, she started doing it, and now shes in a lot less pain
this could open up new treatment options too
got this on my recommended page
I used to to get proper medication for my anxiety, and its been working
It recommended Zoloft after I gave it a bunch of info, and it was spot on. I spoke to my doctor in a "hey, a friend suggested this and I have never heard of it, what do you think?" and he was like, thats a great suggestion!
And then I started it, and its been helping me a ton
Pascal will lose driver support eventually
yeah it seems like it could be great to have a consultant AI
So yeah, this is just a tiny local model that can run on any PC with 16GB of system RAM, or 8GB of VRAM
for each industry
but if I get a digit, I can run the WAY bigger and smarter version as well
humans can tunnel vision sometimes and not see better options
Do you know anything about open AI o1?
Its their CoT model. Well, its really cool, and people figured out how to make open versions of it, and they are revolutioning local AI
CoT stands for Chain of Thought, and they can do incredible things by reflecting on themselves and asking them selves things to illicit better responses
let me find an example real quick
If you ask a normal LLM, " how many letter Rs are there in the word strawberry?" a normal LLM will make a guess that will likely be wildly inaccurate because it doesn't understand the composition of words, because they work with tokens
However, a cot model will break the question down, and dissect the word letter by letter comparing against the letter R, before giving you a final answer
Example
For example, even super small CoT models can get that right, when ChatGPT 4o can't
HuaTuo, the medical model uses CoT to check its responses and expand upon its knowledge by asking its self questions to illicit better responses and information
I see
Technically won't chat gpt become outdated
so it's a more sophiscated way doing things instead of brute forcing it
It's only set in a certain year
it is outdated
chatGPT is already behind the curve
Claude 3.5 sonnet, o1 and DeepseekV3 are already better
DeepseekV3 is a free and open source model that beats closed models
but... you need insanely expensive hardware to run it π
Internet based AI systems i feel will become bloated with regurgitation
Yes, locally run, tuned and optimized AI models on a smaller scale for specific use cases will outpace them in no time
(Open systems)
AI Incest
That's what I'm calling it
Essentially
They'll be training off each other
for example, Qwen 32B, which can run on a 3090 can trade blows with chat GPT 4o for code, while being less than 1/100th its size cause its meant to be good at JUST code
We already have so many articles written by AI
am being sold a ryzen 7 3700x for $200 cad and a zotac rtx 3060 12gb for $380 worth?
Yeah, a lot of bad comes from AI, but a lot of good as well
3700x no
I am not trying to say any of that BS slop is good
Is that price for JUST the parts?
Not what I mean, I feel like later models will just die cause of this
Just those two parts?
yes both cad
For sure, yeah. Closed source and paid models are already rapidly being overtaken by free open source models that people can run locally and use for whatever they want with no limits
bet thanks
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 7600
Oh yeah true on that, I want to make my own AI system and I shall call it JARVIS
7600 is like 10-15% better than the 3060 12gb
Unless you need nvidia for workstation use
Could also look for a 6700xt or similar used, like a 3060 ti, 2080 ti, 2080 super, 3070, etc
Is it?
What?
yeah
Everything I've seen says otherwise
AMD's only good GPU is the 7900XTX
I just don't know how to make an AI system as a personal assistant not connected to the internet but learns off of a current action
I am kinda working on something like that
it should be possible based off of saved RAG info. I am not sure how to explain that tho
What are yall on about? 4060-4070 have a 128 bit bus which hurts performance at 1440p. 7800xt matches the 4070 and is cheaper lnao
I wish I had time to learn how to code
7000 series isnt impressive but neither is 40 series
Oh man, AI can do a huge amount of that for you now π
Whats your PC spec?
I can help you set up local AI if you want π @mental yoke
7600 is about equivelant to a 2080
That doesn't sound unreasonable
@edgy zephyr am I insane?
Oh my pc has a 4060ti, ryzen 7700, b650 motherboard, 128 gb ram, 2tb ssd
6600xt matches 2070s no?
7600 is slightly better than the 6650xt, and that 100% beats the 2070s.
8GB or 16GB 4060ti?
Ummm lemme double check, pretty sure the 16
=*
if its 16GB, you are in very good shape for running local AI
4060 ti loses to the 3060 ti in some games at 1440p, the 4070 loses to the 3080 12gb across the board, 4070 super is decent but at $600 compared to a $520-550 7900 gre it was still meh
7700xt was 100% overpriced until it dropped to $360
8gb damn
They trade blows, at 1440p most of the time yeah it does
ah dang, thats a big limit. However, with that fast CPU and a lot of system mem, you can still have some fun and do cool crap
Ti super at $800 vs $700 7900xt was overpriced
Well currently, just trying to learn all this pc stuff, trying to perfect the craft, understand it all. Then move to website coding. I'm developing an industry.
Oh thats dope man. Having local AI to bounce ideas off of and practice with could be a massive asset for you
First right below 4060 second right above 2080
Oh definitely if I had time to develop one
So by that logic so is the 4060 lmao
And it costs more than the 7600 to go with it
I'm just posting numbers so this argument can stop
You're low end
develop one?
oh dude, they are insanely easy. there are 100k's of local models you can download and run very easily with tools that are out there, and you don't need to know any code to do so
Hmmm what's the website to this
huggingface is the basis of all AI
They made transformers, which is what AI uses to even function
Id love to have a personal JARVIS ngl

you have everything here. Image to text, text to image, image 2 video, text to speech, speech to text, text to music, object detection, math, coding, science, and dozens more
Ok, so i can agree the 4060 is slightly better. It does however cost $40-70 more for a very minor difference
What is the problem with the 7600?
No JARVIS one tho?
The 6700xt has also been $290-330 for quite a while
I mean, it depends on what specifically you are hoping for with JARVIS. I am not sure if there are all in one solutions like that, or if its something you would have to put together using different models and stuff
I am kinda working on that as well
Movie accurate Jarvis tbh
ok yeah, then for sure nothing like that yet
I'm hesitant about recommending intel cards still
you can get some cool stuff tho, if you want smaller and simpler things
I shall get to working on that π
For $359 CAD/$250 USD I don't see an issue here
I wouldnt buy one for my own pc, so why should I recommend it to someone
I'd agree on that cpu
the B580 is an insanely good deal
Crazy thing about me is I'm an information sponge. I learn things so fast when I want to
I am VERY excited fro the 24GB version
The B580 has cpu overhead issues
That seems perfect for you lmao
Same here, thats how I got to where I am with AI
It suffers a lot for lower end cpus
Triple b580 time
I mean, intel has bad AI support, but they are improving it WAY faster than AMD so lmao
They have way better resources than AMD IMO
Intel used to make compute cards for datacenters
Their ai perf increased pretty noticeably over 6000 series, no?
They technically already tried to make a dgpu before arc
Hey btw, what gpu would you pair with a ryzen 5 series btw
Not close to 40 series, but still
the perf yes, but basically nothing supports them still
its all on AMD to add support for all the AI tools
Also that's partially nvidias fault for keeping Cuda closed source
for what?
Thats... not really how that works
Yes it is, I have a friend whos job is to do exactly that π
Eh it's just a training computer, learning acrylic water tubing
Open source should allow AI support to be added no?
By third parties
AMD does have open source drivers on linux
Don't want anything expensive in it so I don't take a huge loss if it's ruined
But i want it to look nice
Yes
AMD needs to develop better drivers that support RDNA 3 chips with the full feature sets that can be adapted to perform the calculations required by AI programs
The NAVI21 chip in the 7900XT/X has support for it and has good AI support, but everything below has very bad support and is basically useless for local AI, especially on windows@sweet phoenix
I'd say it'll happen faster on linux than windows
Is that what you meant when you said everything other than the xtx is trash?
ROCm is the reason that AMD's AI support is reallyyy bad, cause they have barely improved it at all for the cards that real people own
Oh, I meant value proposition wise. The 7900XTX is a good value
Ehhhhh
but yeah, for AI, AMD is basically useless
6750XT, 7700XT, 7800XT and 7800XT are all really good value at the moment
I am going off of its raster performance, 24GB VRAM, power efficiency, and capability to actually do solid AI
Two things, good to know about this i had no clue, sorry for how I spoke
Second the xtx is one of the worst value cards, price/frame the 7800xt/7900 gre/7900xt all had it beat
The 7900xt is like 10% worse with 4gb less vram and was a good $200+ less
I mean GENERAL Value. If a card can't run AI in this day and age, I see that as a massive draw back, so anything below the 7900XT/X are at a massive disadvantage for value for me
I feel like most people aren't touching anything ai intensive
Thats fair, but thats why I was speaking on it in that way, personally
I'd say AI still has a couple generations to go
Lower end hardware still costs a lot of money
The average person is probably going to be running Intel HD graphics
I've got too many issues with ai as a whole
Not like they're going to take over the world
Natural resources, ai art/media
Iβve never seen anyone whoβs not a bot actually like ai art
The problem is, and always had been, human beings
Yeah, I agree with you there
the big distinction is that a huge amount of that stuff is people misusing paid resources like chatGPT and midjourney, rather than the actually skilled and talented people whoa re using local, free and open source AI to do actually cool things that aren't making the world a worse place
Chatgpt uses abt 18ounces of water for a 100 word answer
Wait what
I am VERY anti-closed source AI
I agree, ai work has been around much longer than the last 2-3 years
You got that right, like I tried to go for the more out dated to save on my training pc, but it's still expensive
Go further back
Ryzen is way too expensive
Try sandy bridge
Or ivy bridge
How far my brotha
cause its BS that these companies can steal everybody's info and then CHARGE them to use it
Its why I support free open source AI, cause at least everybody can benefit from it, and it has no major money limits, or use limits
You don't actually need the pc to run that well right?
2600k is ultra cheap
Trueee
Get an i5 3470 or something
3470 maybe
Are the parts white tho
Lmao
Is the question
I7 970
Is mobo alr owned?
I have local text gen models that are fully 100% uncensored with absolutely no moral alignment, which can asnwer questions that ShatGPT could never
1 dollar
1000 series ryzen is an option (idk what this is for)
Water cooling testing
Ah
I'd go as far back as 775 but I chose 1155 for mounting compatibility
1155?
Cheap a320 and cpu would be like $45-65 depending
The socket
One of my favorite uses for local AI is actually character development and concept feedback/bouncing ideas. Along with generating high quality recipes for food items I like with all of my preferences. I have made tools for that that can run on super light weight systems and can absolutely clown on the free version of chatGPT for quality
I have made some absolutely DELICIOUS recipes with it π
Closed source can eventually lead to slop if the people with the source code mismanage
its also fantastic for translating, or modifying already existing recipes
i have a 4tb drive so i do gpt not mbr right
The intel i5?
yes
closed source is optimized to be as simple and brain numbing as possible, and thats why open source, where people take way more chances, its rapidly catching up
And anyone can submit bug reports and lead to actual outcome and even try to fix the problem themselves
Just look at steam proton
It being open source is the reason linux gaming compatibility is growing as fast as it is
Yessir
absolutely!
The best 0.1% of the world in these fields will eventually be overpowered and outpaced by over 1000x more general people experimenting and helping where they can
Side note, I just wanna share how cool lossless scaling is lol
This is a really extreme one so I can show it in a video. Its locked to 20FPS, upscaling to 60fps, and you can see how much smoother it is (obviously it has issues, but I would take those over 20FPS a second π )
I usually use it to upscale from 60 to 180 cause my monitor is 175hz, and it looks fantastic
it works on basically any program or game as well, which is dope
here is 30fps 2x to 60. This one already looks way better, so you can imagine 60 to 120 to 180 would look even better
it can go all the way to 20x frame gen, but that obviously gets wild lmao
but 2x and 3x work fantastic, especially above 30fps base
no

@dusk knot
Sketchy person
Thanks <3
Ha. Posted that last year
hello mr.newegg. I have a question about price match. Do i need to buy the item and then you price match? Or ccan i get in toucch with someone to price match before purchase?
ive spent 20 minutes reading the fine print and am about to tag out cause it is confusing me lol
@neweggsupport or something
@digital thunder dm
There it is
Still waiting on the official
Pricesβ¦..
Iβve been chasing a good white AIB since the 20 series. Had no luck if there was a thing.
Oh yeah I feel that
Your body needs your old habit back
Man, I should become American and get a job at Newegg
i wouldnt call that a 1440p card personally
is 230 used or new?
It technically could with heavy compromises
6700xt should be abt that used
6700 xt is more but not by too much
the extra vram would be very useful and its abt 10% better
I saw a bid end at 280 but remember seeing 300 to 330 a while ago
oof
Yeah true
r/hws?
Idk didnt check but the reason I don't care too much about vram is because my vram usage on linux is a lot lower than windows
But to see if I am wrong I should run these games at 1440p to make sure
I remember seeing only like 3-4g used in one area but warframe has a lot of different tile sets
I should try the ones that came out recently since those are more demanding
Would highly recommend making a buying post there. I got like 5 legit offers in < 12 hours
Granted there were 2, maybe 3 scammers as well but they were pretty obvious. Use the universal scammer list
honestly how do you know we aren't already in one
a matrix is just a simulation of real life with all its problems
its not clear skies unless you make a deal with the machines
I wonder
if there are any good desk organisres that can also serve as a makeshift mini homelab rack
cables can't go through tho hmm
I'm better off getting a bookshelf at this price
Costs more than a bookshelf
Yes but you can print many bookshelves
Just the printer alone costs more than a bookshelf
The filament needed will cost me several bookshelves' worth of money
You could probably snip some holes out of the mesh for wires
Turns out a wooden shelf might be cheaper
cant wait for the souped-up model called the DoubleBeryl
yes, i saw what you posted
Can you do that?
OH MY GOD SHE'S BLAZING FAST
This is on repeater mode btw
This router rocks
btw thats your ip address on the bottom left
Thanks ππ»
np
Wouldn't have spotted that
yeah... some people often get it confused with the servers ip address
i remember i got a proprietary device for fiber from my ISP and posted it somewhere on discord asking if anyone could identify the model
big number on the back definitely wasn't a model number
not the only one lmao
lmao
well it could be worse
i could own an Xbox and post a picture of the home screen to Reddit
because for some reason whoever designs the UI made it so that below your profile picture, it shows your email
π
and a bunch of people in reddit comments noticed
were asking if they could email OP
So basically you have adguard running on the router
Oh i see
Glinet is a router company
Lil dude
Lol I copied that link a couple mins ago
It's not even expensive
Compared to most retail options
There's also this
AUD but you get the idea
Bro im still on tp link

These routers are really damn competitive
Next time I need a router I'm getting another openwrt compatible one
My asus router came in but idk if i should return it and flash the tp link or just flash the new asus
How much does it cost?
You could probably return it and get that aliexpress router kit
I forgot it was around 50-70 which is a really good deal
The AliExpress router is ~$100
Its the ax55
hmm
idk guys is my internet fast enough
I donβt download enough stuff to need fiber ima be honest
It would be cool to have but i dont be downloading like that
There is some wifi interference in my computer tho
I honestly don't care about speeds
I got this router because
It just works
The old asus I was using as a repeater sucks ass
I get low 30s but should get around 40
It was barely working on repeater mode
What was it
The first router i bought a few weeks ago was called the ax 1800s which was a cut down version of the ax 1800 which is also called the ax 55
I want to set up the ax 55 and see how it is. The 1800s had really poor range
Walk behind two walls and the speed drops by half
The tp link has very little dropoff
I'm thinking of giving it away as a repeater but
Not sure if it's even good for that
Surely it helps even a little bit
I think thats what the 1800s is for
Part of a mesh
But I was using it as a main router
oh lmao
Thats probably why its the way it is
2c/4t, good strength if you arenβt behind walls
Good for a mesh but not as a main one

Well gigabit on lan is still kinda slow by today's standard but
Fast enough that I don't just copy files manually instead
Oh the ax55 has 3000 sqft coverage so I think this will be like the tp link but a little more secure
Thats what my ass be doing
My down is pretty good even with interference in the computer but my upload is pretty bad
bro
it's 1000 jensens harder than 3090

5090 is out
with 5,090 reasons you can't afford it
Me who wants a steam deck refresh
pepsi and coffee go well together
Wait a gigabit
a lot of bits
Finally something good, a travel router
Ooo a thin client
Boeing is going places
Your home lab? That's cute
Debatably better than mines ngl
He has a real nas
That looks like a DAS I think
(at least that was my first thought, given the thin client)
That's my setup, only the server my DAS is attached to is a PC I built
I love it when my parents walk into my home office (my bedroom) and they think I'm not working, so I just hit 'em with the Win+Ctrl+Left Arrow to show them that I'm waiting for stuff to do (where I have all the work programs open)
Itβs being network attached
I swear you said this a week ago
I wonder if Iβm in a dream within a dream like Inception
Hello future 5090 owners
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
Can I pay people here if they get a 5090 at launch instead of me? I'll give someone $2500 if they sell me their launch day order
I canβt promise you get the 5090
Or promise that I can buy one
No
tf
Ez $500
Nvidia could be normal and be like "okay we're releasing new GPUs. Maybe we can still provide last year's and maybe a year or two prior's GPUs but lower the price on those and keep the new GPUs at the previous year's MSRPs" but no they have to be like "okay the 5090 is barely any better than the 4090. Let's add $400 to its MSRP"
It's crazy to realize but even Apple isn't as bad as Nvidia
NgreedAi
I probably did. My memory is not great.
Accounting for inflation, my 2017 "all out" PC with a Threadripper 1950x and 1080 cost just as much as a new build with max specs, even better in some ways
I don't think Nvidia is wrong for raising prices
$3400 vs $4400
The problem isn't that it's more expensive, it's that the regular people aren't making more money and being steamrolled like chumps
Yeah but the corpos are raising prices faster than inflation
So there is money inflation and them increasing prices on top of that
"It's just inflation" ehhhh not just inflation but yeah I guess that contributes
Not in this case at least, if you're zooming out to "building a PC" scale it costs the exact same as I mentioned before
corpos sux
We don't have an inflation issue right now
4080 was $1200. 3080 was $700. 3080 was 10% worse than a 3090, 4080 was 30% worse than a 4090
We have a wage-cost disparity
You are half right
(Silverhand agreed )
I'm not saying Nvidias pricing isn't funky
We 100% have an inflation issue
Inflation is already done
Inflation is the rate of change
But there's also the biggest wage gap in the US's history
It stopped changing at a higher right
That... alr
Now we have a wage-cost gap
This isn't worth it
It's an issue, but to say inflation is still running rampant is misleading
I did not say that?
US have low inflation rate so . ( F for turkey )
Ever since Turing was introduced we've had this sort of stagnant inflation for no value gain type of environment, but every gen it gets worse
Aight man
I'm not saying you said that, that's just the common misconception I see
The 30 series was unfortunate as it was basically the last time nvidia really tried to give us perf per dollar but covid hit
4090 after it but none of the 40 series otherwise
Inflation was an issue, the issue got passed on to us in the form of a wage-cost gap.
50 series looks to be the same if you discount ai frame gen
But I get it's an issue for a lot of people.
Well put it like this
5090 seems to perform moderately better than 4090
Imagine buying an xbox
If inflation wasn't an issue 20$/hr would be a living wage
But every 2 years it costs almost double
Nvidia is not nearly as bad
But for many it hits this way
Do we have a memes channel? Lol
In many regions outside the us however it is actually almost this bad btw
I wish
The cost of living has gone up in just the last five years alone by an insane amount
Well i am just going to throw this here for the funny
New Nvidia Graphics cards will be released. and Project Blackwell RTX 50 Series is coming... I'll still be getting one π who else is upgrading their PC?
#NVIDIA #NVIDIA50Series #GeForceRTX #RTX5090
#PCGaming #TechHumor #PCMasterRace #GraphicsCard #RTX50Series #NVIDIAFail
#GamersUnite #GamingTech #TechSkit #GamingSetup #GamingMemes #CustomPC #RT...
XD
In my country 2 years ago a 4090 costed 1750 after tax roughly
Now the prices are estimated at 2883 usd after tax
For 5090
I remember times that highend phones were 100$ lol
If you know the movie reference i will be happy
The problem is that inflation is different for different products and markets and there isn't a good way to lock everything in so that it all correlates.
You would need to make $32 an hour to own a house here in 2025. Back in the 60s you could rub two nickels together.
Food hasn't inflated as much as housing for example.
now we have to pay over 1k for phone lol so you saying we had 1000% inflation in 10 years ?
Where I am food is the biggest issue lol
it's def not just inflation
We pay over double what we did 2 years ago for food
It all falls down to how much people make on average vs sunk cost
but... we have only 8% inflation
Weird isn't it
Except many prevailing issues cause this
Oh lordy
For us the primary is electricity cost
I haven't ever really looked at the cost of things, but the CPI basket used to measure things here is also misleading because products can be substituted with cheaper alternatives that aren't quite the same, so you end up with shrinkflation too....
Clothing containing less threads, lower quality, etc, but it doesn't appear in the CPI because it's a comparable product
I could buy four used commodores
I remeber I got Nokia N73 for under 100$ lol
I use a lot of electricity lol
Yes this is definitely true and prevails everywhere
I've noticed it in my shopping
I'd buy the same product and instead of a price rise the packet shrinks
And the weight appears the same but it's actually a lot less
Honestly worse than higher prices to me
This is the same feeling I got with the 5090
Spend way more get mildly better no thanks

I've made enough for most of my life to never think about how much money I spend on things, but I definitely agree that in the last 2 years, I haven't been saving as much, but keep in mind I have expensive newer hobbies that probably contribute to me not saving
I bought a $400 red dot for my Glock yesterday
That's a ridiculous price
It's definitely affecting people way more than before
I would rather pay a little more than get tricked into thinking I am getting the same but actually getting less
I mean a gaming pc is a luxury item don't get me wrong
Luckily I was able to get my house before the rates spiked like crazy
Hmm...5090
Sometimes you would get less and pay more too
Now you make the capital yeah
Yea, I could get paid more for what I do but I'm lazy and I'm fine with a low 100s salary
It's gonna be a hot topic this year tho, rising costs and minimal gains
Honestly frame gen done well could break that
We have to wait for the market to improve
I have been wanting to do a bunch of ML training and don't want to be publishing data online or training in azure
i'd prob just get a 4090 still
