personally i haven't, i think the hardest thing for me was getting an idea of what to do once it was done. it was like looking at a blank canvas or trying to start an essay, but once i had a good idea in mind and it started coming together it was really fun and refreshing. i did have some stuff i teared down that i wish i could rebuild but i ended up making even better creations

i did regret it but it's more because i don't really like what i made after. turns out i enjoy working with the natural land that we got from the start and only flatten parts of my island instead of the entirety of it. so it really depends on personal preferences. i ended up restarting over with a new island and never look back

lol tbh I tried making a rock garden exactly like that before, and I found it kind of unattractive unless you're going for a desert/canyon aesthetic like the below. I have a green, foresty island and it didn't match.

Messiness tells a story

I looked for a long time for the perfect item to put around my food stalls. Turned out the perfect item was a custom design on the floor of just a food splat. Looks great

Lol they weren't actually being mean in context XD I had apologized before they came because I said I accidentally made my neighborhood look dirtier than I'd like it to be with socks on the ground and empty cans, and she said something like "Lol your villagers are really slumming it" when she saw it in person. I was just trying around different urban styles and had made one too trashed for my liking

I only discovered in the last month that you can spawn a rock immediately next to a tree (or multiple trees)! I plant a sapling and time travel forward 2-4 days, and if I've covered the rest of the ground with custom designs or mannequins, a rock spawns next to my tree. It's also nice that the rock stunts the tree growth.

It spurred me to finally finalize my rock locations because I've been trying to make my rocks more naturally incorporated into my island

yeah I'm in love! I've been trying soo many formations of rock gardens over the past few months and really hated each one because they didn't seem to fit with my island. It's a little annoying to spawn rocks next to cliffs since you have to clear out the area first (to make space for the rock to spawn) and then terraform it back, but I like how it looks.

Yes, but you have to time it very specifically. For example, on day 0, I plant a sapling and make sure the area immediately next to it is the only place a rock could spawn on my map. Then I time travel to day 2, and I'll have a 2-day old tree (the stunted version) immediately next to the rock. You could do the same thing without time travel, though - you'd just have to not play for 48 hours.

This doesn't work if you already have an existing tree (either adult or juvenile) since rocks will never spawn next to an existing tree.

I ended up just surrounding the plaza with cliffs

And having like an entrance to it from the side and a staircase to the top of the cliff

So like you’ll have to go around the entire island to get to the plaza

Could anyone give me advice on my rock circle? Not the area around it (which is probably going to completely change multiple times lol) but the rocks themselves. I just got done moving all my rocks into a circle and I used to have more bumpy/lumpy rocks but now most of them are smooth/rounded. I’m debating whether I should break the bottom right rock (in the 5 o’clock position) until it matches the others, or start breaking all of the others until they spawn back with more variation. I put down transparent paths all over my island so keeping them in the circle isn’t an issue…

There's different overgrown islands, though.. like Antillia by LexPlay is an overgrown western-style temperate forest, some other islands are overgrown with stone ruins, jungle islands are overgrown, too. It's hard to give tips without knowing more specifics

I’d say just tailor it to whatever style you’re aiming for, or just go where your heart and mind take you! you have lots of space to work with and no harm in redoing areas a couple times. I do like the hay bale and destination post - good start!
