Question, I’m usually not into tting permanently out of season but my island theme (late medieval setting with cursed mushrooms and sort of a goblin feel to it) doesn’t work super well in winter and I really don’t want to take down these decorations and change my theme just for winter. i saw you say that earlier, someone also responded then that they thought ur island looked good in winter;

its not that youre wrong, some of the colours clearly look best in fall, its just that by experiencing new things, like the winter snow, you might discover more elements that can make your theme work outside of fall

like you might try something, that you would never try in fall, and find that it actually works great in your theme and helps you transition through the seasons easier without having to take down huge parts of your island...

that being said, the big shake ups brought on by the seasons changing is sort of a good thing, it motivates us to keep exploring new ideas... I understand wanting to enjoy your current theme more.

It is ofc up to you, I personally hate timetravelling, so maybe I'm bias. I find that it really disrupts the flow of the game.

I did something like that, as you can see on my map, 8 of my villagers live together in a village, and everyone has a small yard in front of the house! I also gave them trees and flowers, due to my island theme Gold Roses and Money Trees, but any kind of flower and Tree look great!

I didn't really know what to do with my beaches and what to decorate most places with, so there are a lot of fossils and asteroids standing around.

The area in front of my museum is a chessboard, I used Roses as tiles and four statues as chess figures. I saw the idea of the two familiar statues playing chess very often and wanted to do something with the idea.

The little waiting/park area in front of my shops, because I didn't know what else to put there or use my lilies for. When people are coming over for turnips, they can rest there while they wait for others to finish selling.

@fiery tendon You mentioned peaches and I can see your pink bushes I like the pink but it needs some constrast, Try some green mums because from what I've seen on my island green mums look like cute nettles and some hycanith, If you want to go the extra step or just want to add some log stakes around and swap the lantern on the log for a plant like floating planter or anthurium or something else

If you’re not sure where to start, literally just start without a clue. Place a cliff and see what ideas it brings you.

Also, when working with cliffs I like to keep a couple of the jagged edges to make it more natural instead of rounding each corner. You just gotta play with it until it looks neat.

Give them some texture with highlights and shadows! When I’m making bricks I like to make random dots or lines with a darker colour, and add a small highlight or random dots in a lighter colour. Also, look at other designs for inspiration! I find it helpful to look at the pixelated versions or what a design looks like in the editor

I don't have a real theme, just a lot of Fossils, Statues and Plants (Particularly, Bushes and Flowers along my paths)
I can only suggest to just... go for it! Try out to pick all the items from your storage you like and arrange them however you want! A theme will come to you naturally once you just try to do something with stuff you like.
