I'd like some advice. I've been on hiatus since Halloween trying to come up with a new island design and don't get me wrong, I'm usually pretty happy with what I come up with. But I always feel like it could be more than what I came up with. This is my current plan and I do like it. But I really wanna try something different but- It's really hard to do so. Possibly the biggest reason why is because it's so hard for me to make an entrance with my airport's current location. Do you think it's worth restarting my island from scratch and start with a brand new map?

does anyone have any genuine tips about designing your island? i've done some small cliffs with waterfalls, but i keep getting unhappy and deleting and changing it. i see all these great islands but it's so hard to just plan things out

Find things that you like in peoples' islands but don't just copy it. When you copy it it doesn't fit into your island all the time. Change it to make it fit into your context and to make it better in your eyes. Also, nothing that you do is ever permanent. You can always move things to make room or change things to make them fit into spaces.

Start in one area and work slowly. "I want a tea shop" so start with the stall, add the tables and chairs and then "ooo maybe some trees, but I want depth so cliff time" etc.

I would also recommend using dirt paths or something just to mark out where buildings can go depending on how far you've progressed through the game. Lay things out and try to imagine where things can go and let it change over time.

I disagree with the faster terraforming but I have a slower paced mindset than most. I try to enjoy the slow animations but to each their own. Also, I wish we could buy more than bundles of 5 or 1 in Nook's Cranny and Leif's. And buying more than just one article of clothing for each slot in Able Sisters'

If you make the cliffs big enough then it might look more natural. Also, if you do the cliffs then get rid fo the fences and maybe make some waterfalls there

I think you could use a custom wooden shop sign with "forbidden", use some jail bars or that wire fence on some spots, not closing everything around
