and on the right of the plaza i'll have a little section with some stalls and stuff (but i haven't built anything there yet)
and when i get more bells i'll move the buildings, and then decorate around them to move them off the main central part of the island

My primary thought was just to block the plaza since it is right on the other side of the cliffs, but then I just started randomly placing water puddles and connecting them. I think if you throw stuff up without thinking about it and then adjusting whatever shows up then you get something that feels a lot more natural than if you try to methodically place cliffs/waterfalls

I had to restart my island because it was so bad. It costs a lot of bells to move stuff around. You can't move your plaza and airport, so if they're in bad alignment like my previous island, it's probably best to restart. @formal notch

honestly it's a lot of trial and error and patience. Often times people don't just nail something like designing a new area right away, you have to buy stuff, wait a day, move stuff, then terraform around it, then realizing the terraforming is weird, then destroy it, then realize Limberg's house would look real nice there, then wait another day to move it in

honestly it's a lot of trial and error and patience. Often times people don't just nail something like designing a new area right away, you have to buy stuff, wait a day, move stuff, then terraform around it, then realizing the terraforming is weird, then destroy it, then realize Limberg's house would look real nice there, then wait another day to move it in
@silver sorrel omg exactly. i've had this game for so long and it took me like 4 months just to figure out my design process! it took millions of bells, hours of planning, but now i'm just terraforming and placing as many buildings as i can that i feel like would belong in the area i'm working on then decorating when the flow feels right 🙂

Do you think it should go on the path on the way to Rudy’s, or have that path veer off to the right for Nooks?Maybe to the right would give it more room? I honestly have the same path going through my whole island except for my neighborhood (which is separated from everything else by water or bridges/stairs) because I feel like it’s hard to make transitions look nice

personally I made a lot of rivers first when I got terraforming, then cut back on water completely to make space, but now my island is better laid out I put in a lot more bodies of water again. They add the last bit to areas which are already almost perfect

You shouldn't flatten out everything at once, that's just gonna be demotivating, try working on different spots one by one, or make a map/plan first! (But a farm island sounds great!)
