Hello! Is anyone here facing the problem that your villagers always go through the same places of the island?
I have a residential area in my left front acres and a downtown area in the mid acres. My villagers basically walk at these areas and don't go further, especially I've never seen them in any of the cliffs. Even the island having inclines for cliffs and bridges the always walk through the same place.
Is that something related to their walking AI? I can open the gates if someone who understand about terraforming can come here and help me about this

@proper spear I only found out about the 8 incline limit when i already had 7, i ended up redoing a solid 1/3 of my island so that i could get around the area with just 1 incline instead of 3. Jumping over gaps that are 1 wide doesn't bother me so that's how i got around it

@topaz mountain I myself have a different themed island so the way I incorporated cliffs was beginning the area with tiered cliffs and cutting out what I didn't want and on the cliffs used the edges as displays and also depends if you want a canyon sort of look or more mountain look. Cause you could have the center with cliffs tiering 3 high if you want for decor purposes or have an entire layer which is then cut out the pathways you want

Start with little areas and sections, makes it way less overwhelming

Try to get some inspiration by looking at furniture, see which things catch your eye and start to form some associations between them. @timber mortar then you can imagine how they could go together outside and come up with little zones and next thing you know you might even have a whole theme! It’s hard to tell someone else how to design an island because everyone likes things different

Well if you start with a good base you can always build up your island and continue to alter the areas as ideas come to you!

For people who don’t excel at planning out huge themes I recommend usually splitting the island up into different fun ideas. I went to a friends island that had a different theme for every corner and tons of little zones that were their own idea. It was actually really cool

@nocturne schooner if that's the case then you should look into separating your houses and designing different areas for each house that lead into each other, rather than grouping them in to a neighborhood block? would help with a nice flow, especially if you lead around your island from one house to another
