Hi. I have an idea for my island that I would like input and suggestions for. It's a mystical magical theme. I'd like to have different parts of the island reflect the elements, earth, water, air and fire. In the center of the island I'd like to have a ethereal space. Is this a too big endeavor for a first time builder? If not, hour would you go about doing this?

Thanks for replying! I've flattened my island and started to look at what I've got to see if I can indeed build my idea. And to be honest, I'm missing so much. I've only been playing 2 weeks and haven't even gotten all the flowers. I think I'll go for an easier build, but create a layout that I can switch out as I gather more items.

@thorn island i guess it depends if you're gonna get overwhelmed by all the open space, or if it would inspire you to start fresh. I flattened and I lost interest for a solid 6 months before I got back into it, and then even now I'm still kind of overwhelmed, taking one area at a time. If you want a natural looking island it may be worth it to just terraform around what you already have

I definitely recommend moving the houses and shops to the beach tho so you can edit everything

PlannerforAC:NH on the app store. actually, if you can get your hands on Nookea, it’s superior for villager and gift planning. it’s no longer available to the usa (if you have an old copy it should work.) but Planner wins overall. 🙂

I see you have a lot of photos with the custom codes on the panels. It seems like that's a common thing you're feeling drawn to in these photos maybe?

Have you already used these builds anywhere? If not, it might be worth trying one and seeing how you feel about it before making any huge changes towards using those types of builds.

I found that when I used them, I didn't like how they looked in different lighting, so I wouldn't have wanted to have a bunch of them to pull down afterwards.

Other than that, trying to work out what aspects of these photos you like and dislike would be a really good idea so you can consider what you would want to change and how much work it will be to build in a separate area compared to demolishing it

You can add a bbq grill and some stacks of firewood around! Where I live, the official campgrounds have little grills set up for people to use so adding that would be realistic. For flowers, I think cosmos might work best but that might just be me, they resemble the wildflowers where I live. If you use them, try to use the basic natural colors and maybe orange, cause the similar wildflowers I see around where I live don’t usually hybridize much. Maybe a wayward black one here or there. You should also try using weeds to decorate! Also there’s leaf pile items you can craft, those would be good

During the different seasons, you could swap out the leaf piles for the cherry blossom and maple ones to match the trees

hmm, maybe a tip from me for this kind of build is to make a viewpoint of the area and keep coming back to it as you build. In this case, i set up a higher cliff in front of the area i want to build the neighborhood in, and then i keep coming back to it to see the overall area with the nook phone camera (keeping in mind what's in frame, sizes, spacing, negative spaces, etc.) as i build. Works all the time and they look great in pictures 👍

you could start with just going through most "how to terraform/how to x" videos on youtube and look for what stresses you out specifically although i personally find longplays from youtubers or youtubers (like sparksby) who voice over their speed builds and explain their thought process to be a nice way to learn about terraforming. but since you just unlocked it, id try and play around with it just to get a feel for it and eventually look up islands that have no custom designs (iirc haruchi create or boiscrossing have one but theres also other popular cc that did it without custom designs)

though speaking of, i wanted to ask if yall have any inspo for parking lots ish such as these? non modern ones that have potential to be on an overgrown island of sorts

First you should think about a theme. What look are you going for? You could go super overgrown like forestcore, plants, trees, flowers, the works. Theres also the complete opposite like citycore. Find out what look fits you. Once youve done that your best bet is to look for inspo on Pinterest or google or whatever platform you like best. Just remember you dont need fit any core to the tea. You could have forestcore and fade into more cottagecore in some areas and dot some other themes around. Its alllll you

Layering of different tree types and sizes really add to the dense effect that can help to hide the town hall if so desired. adding foliage/items too around the base of the trees on the cliffs really make a difference.

looking at the middle two houses, im guessing that circle is about 13-15 tiles wide (because houses are 4 tiles wide each). this also depends on the size of your area! of course if you want something more grand make it bigger, or more cozy make it smaler! also keep the size of your decoration in mind too, so everything fits. If i were to pick though, id do the 17 or 21! i hope i answered your question

also for the semi circle underneath, it’s bigger than the width of the top circle so id make it 21 tiles across if the top is 15 (as an example) but youd uave to see what looks best for you in game anyway

Hello all... I just finshed laying the groundwork of Ruins of Dreamcastle (not the Disney one... lol) anyway my island theme is Vacation Spot so trying to fill areas with "Attractions" that guests will want to come for.

The castle was long abondoned as building on the sands did not work out... so I need decor for the courtyard that accentuates that idea...

I would like to incorporate weeds in the courtyard but for that to work I'd need cracked and or broken stone paths that blend with grass, dirt, or dark dirt.

If anyone has or knows of such designs, please let me know.

river mouth seems to be the biggest issue bc the reference has one down and one across while your map is the same thing but different directions (idk if that made sense)
I think you can still make this work out but to replicate it well you’ll need to reverse(?) things so like the villager houses would go on the left instead of the right
Idk if this made any sense but yeah still very doable

yep! Once you get terraforming (unlock after 3 star island) you’re life will be easier and then you can just replicate it with little worries

I think that the left looks fine but I can understand if you want to change it up to not have to deal with so much space. I’m not good with helping out based on the map alone I have to see some of the island itself.
If you were to do the right one i think it would depend on what you would build there instead and if it would transition well from that area to your house if that made sense
To me I would go with the left but I’m not sure, I think it depends on what some areas of the island look like for me to get a better picture

i think continuing your island and coming back to it later is better because you might get more ideas as you go and get a better feel on how the entrace connects to the rest of the island
